#BOM differences and questions

Hello. Im attempting to source all the materials myself to build a Voron 2.4 from scratch. I noticed in the Team Sourcing Guide there are a lot of differences in the downloaded BOM in regards to quantity compared to the Team Sourcing guide.

I am also having a bit of my parts inexperience shine through. I am unsure what is meant by post-install T-nut.

Also, I cant figure out what the BOM means when talking about an m5 1mm shim?

My understanding of T-nut is those circular little bits with the "teeth" you can put screws through, but ive also noticed online some rectangular things without teeth also being called T nuts. Can someone help clear this up for me, thanks

The sourcing guide is wrong on qty, and unfortunately it will always be wrong.
Use what's in the bom for accurate quantities.

Quick question. Any reason for self sourcing. In this day it's generally the most expensive option assuming equal quality.

As for why, its because I want to compare self sourcing prices to various kits, right now im just grabbing prices and where I can buy them. I also happen to have a LOAD of random bits and bobs around especially regarding various fasteners and frame pieces and woud rather take from the stack if the price difference isnt too bad.

Also I have had some bad experiences with kits for similar things in the past

Just to point out, a shim is not a washer.
A shim has a precision thickness and washers are stamped steel.
