#belt response problems

I recently put new belts on and am using the carto metal mount
newest
latest, would you change anything on this? If so what should I change
install discord onto your phone. That way you can post direct to discord
It is very difficult to us to help you on an issue like belts without seeing pictures
I have it, ill post it on that
Are your belts the same length?
Do you have the same excess of both belts on the left side of toolhead?
Do you have the same excess of both belts on the right side of toolhead?
yes,yes,yes
What canbus toolhead board are you using? Does it have an adxl?
ebb2209 rp2040, yes
Are your graphs done with carto/beacon or ebb36?
How many teeth is it different?
teeth
I would remove the belts and remeasure belt length, unless you are 100%sure they are the same length.
If you are 100% sure then I would redo the belts for that side and make them equal.
After that retension
Doing a little bit equally alternating sides
Ill try to make them even
Channel your inner yoda
lol, its been very frustrating because i had it running before I changed the belts and added carto, now its problem after problem. I cant make any parts for the new vent mod you posted because I have no other printer. Ill get it though
You think a missing screw in the cover would make a difference?
yes
well, i am missing a screw in the cover that holds the fans, ill put it in after i redo these belts and try again
This is what I got now
how are you measuring absolute belt tension
im not
That is an issue
i dont have any way to do it
Shaketune does not give absolute tension it only gives relative belt tension
Install “easy tension” on your phone and try to get both belts to 110hz
ok
what type of belt shoul i put in, or should i just use the frequency meter
Freq meter in easy tension app
pretty sure i found the issue. The belt was off of a pulley i couldnt see until i took the back cover off
Id say that was the problem
Nice catch.
Run the input shapers
bed mesh calibrate doesnt want to work now but otherwise its back to moving good
what is your app telling you the tension is in hz
i tried for 110hz but I could never get it, everytime id get one, do the other, recheck the first id be something else
what does y axis look like
I recommend the pf makes tension tool
https://west3d.com/products/complete-kit-of-3d-printer-belt-tension-meter-by-pf-makes-special-west3d-edition
Complete Assembled West3D Edition 3D printer Belt Tension Meter As of 7/18/2024 these are upgraded versions (v3) with reinforced pins and press fit nylock nuts for the dial, making it more durable and robust than past versions. Note: This is a special West3D edition of the belt tension meter, designed for us by Comm
@sterile sable ok, thanks for your help. I had to go to bed
Any update for us?
Its running
So u have the tool and could adjust belt tension? Can we get fresh graphs, so we can continue/solve this? 🙂
Yep
„Yep“ to which of my 2 questions?
I found a couple of mechanical problems that were causing the issue. The belt was off of the pulley, that seemed to be the major culprit
I couldnt see it until I took the panels off
It was at %97 last time I ran belt comparrison
Nice catch. Is the belt still in good shape as in no wear?
Theres a strand hanging off of it but I got a pair of new ones, im running these for awhile as they are fairly new.
Doesnt seem to be affecting anything atm
Good decision to replace. Usually belts will stretch after a couple of hours, so u might need to check tension.
But new graphs for us would be great
Ive since gotten cartographer and sensorless homing running as well
Uuuh nice one
Might be ahile this print is long
So now everytime I try to run belt responses it shuts down and says it has an internal error
Got any suggestions for this? I just updated my cartographer yesterday so im not sure if thats the issue
are u on the latest klipper version?
if so, that breaks shaketune currently
u can run the following via SSH to rollback and have it working:
Cd klipper
git reset --hard 7f8966
Reboot
Ill give this a try, thank you
This is the belts comparrison I just ran
sorry your message did fall through.
can u give us fresh graphs
X
Y
Belts
and print a VORON cube with 3 walls, 5 top bottom, and no infill please? Post pictures of all 4 sides of the cube with good lighting and camera focus
yep, give me some time.
latest belt response test
Im not sure what you mean by x and y, are there seperate graphs for each axis?
Yes
How do I find those?
Is this what you were looking for?
He wants x and y input shaper graphs
The link i posted has the macro name in it
As well as what the generated picture should look like
i got it i belive, running it now
x
y
ill print the cube, it will take over 2 hours so it will be later before I post pics
Just as a hint, u can download the pictures and upload them here as a file 🙂
No need to take a screenshot
for some reason i cant get my phone to hook up to my computer to send pics and the account on my phone is different then this one
I am not seeing any resonance are you?
im not, the cube looks good
i measured it and all sides were 30.16mm
The only thing I couldnt check was th bearing fit, because i dont have any
The bridging isnt perfect on one side so that will need some adjustment
is damping ratio supposed to be in my config file?
Yes damping ratio is suppose to be in it.
If you need help with the rest of print settings #slicers_and_print_help can help you
i think im missing somethings in my config file
Do u think or did u verify?
Thinking is based on luck 😉
i verified
Im still trying to figure out where max smoothing goes, espically since there 2 different numbers, 1 for x and 1 for y
Ok so u will need to add the damp ratio
I added that under input shaper
Is klipper happy without the zero in front?
Smoothing of what?
I dont know what its smoothing but it gives a number for smoothing and i saw it in someone config file
how are things going? do u need further help or can we mark this as solved?
