#WHELP! My Y axis is making grinding sounds

Just a guess to me, but that kind of sounds like maybe a belt isn't seated properly? Can you verify that the A/B belts are on the rollers/pulleys as they should be?
Ah, what kind of lubrication did you use on your rails?
Hm let me check
This printer has done about 150h of printing
I reckon it was this
My guess is, that was a bad idea
Well, sounds like you have a bad linear bearing (no pun intended).
Shouldn't be. There are plenty of them out there for sale for whatever size Voron you have.
Although part of me says that you should take it off and maybe try and clean it out, since it's toast otherwise?
Yeah that’s a good idea. I’ll give that a whirl. Any good videos floating around that could guide me a bit?
Erm, I'm not really sure on that. A common method is to give them a bath/soak in isopropyl.
A much more perilous method is to disassemble it... but be warned, little balls will go EVERYWHERE and you may never find them all...
So a conservative way would be to soak and agitate in isopropyl and see if that works. If it doesn't... well... then maybe disassemble.
Type 2 fun here I come
Fun when you're done!
Okay so I’ve gone hard mode
One side moves freely. The other side doesn’t move at all
I hoped you lubed it using some recommended grease this time
Also not a bad idea to put a thin layer in the rail itself to prevent oxidation and keep it as smooth as possible
There should be a little bit of resistance, caused by using enough grease, which improves precision because empty spaces are filled. That's when you know you have enough
@normal locust thanks. I didn't have any on hand unfortunately. So I just popped a very small amount in to check I cleared out the issue.
Not going to run any prints until I redo the grease on all my carriages
That's going to be a pain, I assume I'll have to basically uninstall all of them to get it done
No grease ports on my carriages as far as I can see
Certainly, mobilux ep2 is recommend, a syringe will also help lube it without taking it off the rail.
I am qo derving though, how did you fix the issue?
Wondering*
I popped the carriage into a bath of isopropyl and "manually vibrated" it for a while
That loosened up the bearings enough such that I could gently push them through. I did that for ages until it became smooth like the other side
Pretty ghetto really
Looks to me like you are missing a bearing or 2 in that one video. Aren't those suppose to be fully filled?
