#MISSILES - Extended Range LRMs (ELRMs)

Oooh
Don't shame
I think it was something like inside minimum range they do less damage or something
Oh! Well that will be big if so
Like Thunderbolts?
Honestly that only matters if you're already screwed
Yeah, no half damage inside minimum anymore, which is pretty notable with a 10 hex minimum range
I guess you could hot-load more effectively now
Same as currently actually. Hot-loading removes minimum range, and as you aren't in minimum range (you don't have one) you don't deal half damage for being in minimum range.
Is that how that works?
No, it's not
Hot-loading removes minimum-range modifiers
That wasn't a modifier, so it remained
Nice, straight buff
Still dubious pseudo-artillery, but leaning into the strengths better
It's still weird that a 5-rack is 6 tons, and a 10-rack is 8 tons.
And 20 racks are 18 tons!?
And they only get a max of 80 damage per ton of ammo. But hm, I hadn't ever considered using them with C3.
Or C3 plus new NARC
Do they only get standard ammo? I thought that had some special ammo......
Man I really gotta go look at all em again 😆
Nope, just Artemis, and that's new with this proposal
Still will be a big help and oww
Another reason to favor Arrow IVs, which have a truly horrifying variety to choose from
Though I reject them in 'Mechs on principle
I recommend trying this with the Apollo 4M
They just get artemis. Not Narc
The Apollo 4M is a fun one
Just tinker with it a bit
I think you can swap out CASE II for Artemis IV cleanly?
XLRM 20 is 18 tons, 8 slots, 12 heat
Arrow IV is 15 tons, 15 slots, 10 heat
I think I might just want an extended-range thunderbolt to give a "big missile" to mechs, without using artillery rules.
Like a missile version of an artillery cannon?
Maybe?
I'm surprised there aren't alternative t-bolt munitions that do area damage.
I'm surprised there aren't alternative Thunderbolt munitions, full stop
You know. I actually wouldnt mind that . . .
Shoot. I wouldnt mind it as just an alternate arty ammo [though a more cannon like launcher would be cool]
I feel like thats what TBolts SHOULD be though XD
They are still 1 dmg cluster though
This would be cluster 5 like other cannons
[Though i still agree]
Extended being hotter, heavier, 2/3rds the size, and less shots per ton than an Arrow IV is just funny given that the only real bonus is faster flight (arrow can only reach 17 in on round) and maybe accuracy (no arty negative but you have to deal with TMM)
And cluster table vs cluster 5 AoE
By 4 for the same "size" launcher
Yup xD
