This honestly looks like it could be one of the "primitive" mechs, as in the earliest ones
The era of the macky and all that
It's likely fine and very cheap as long as it stays at range but it can't be hit by anything
3.5 tons, less than a Locust!
Like, a singular LRM-20 shot and you can tell the color of the pilot's boxers
Maybe I should make it a bit slower and give it enough armor to be able to survive one shot of anything

Fwiw if you want to improve it, I'd remove 3 boxes of ammo, add the gained weight to the armor, and it becomes a very competent cheap fire platform

what era exactly would that be btw?
Basically half a rifleman, with more infantry defence, really good for local defence/assault where there's few mechs
Most modern MGs would explode after 2000 seconds of continuous fire
That's 33 minutes and 20 seconds
The age of war
It's an era of mechs being "elite" forces (even the crap ones) purely by virtue of their superiority over vees, and a lot of infantry everywhere
Honestly a mech with an AC/2 and 4 MGs makes a lot of sense there

It's got a lot of charm to it, the ammo boxes are deeply funny
If you'd like mechs of the era for inspiration, I'd recommend the firebee, the jackalope, and ofc the mackie

They're a bit punishing, especially for the ac/2 (which already kinda sucks)
I'd potentially trade the ac/2 quirk for either smth positive or just remove it

Quirks should really come with a lore-reason for why you've added them
I like combat computer personally, especially if you're planning on making refits

Hunchback is custom built for urban brawls, so it has those meaty Battle Fists
The Blackjack got a lot of bad press, so it had Bad Rep-

Suffice to say I don't agree. "It has no armor and a bunch of ammo" is bad, yes, but it's baseline, boring and uncreative.
I wasn't joking when I said it's harder to make bad 'mechs than good ones - at least interesting bad 'mechs.
Imo it makes sense for an age of war design, those all suck for a reason or another
Flea-level armor on a 45 tonner that's carrying decent guns is neat

So, you're right it is like, scarily bad, but like, the only thing you'd need to fix it would be to drop the AC/2 for like, an LRM set and armor
But like, the rest of the choices (lots of MGs, a large laser) are far from unjustifiable
Imo just dropping the ammo for armor would make the mech perform great in a vee-and-PBI heavy environment
infantry are quite scary tbh
Then keep a look for the future variants
