Help - colors / background color ?

Hii : ) I need your advice regarding the background color of this piece... I'd also be willing to change up the colors of the already colored elements to a degree.

With the gold, red and purplish blue going on, I'm really not sure what color the background should be to please the eye.
It's a sin'dorei like banner and this fantasy race loves red and gold. The purple/blue shard thingie can't really be changed in color and the wings also are supposed to be golden - but I could change the hue or intensity.

I wanted a red backdrop but I feel like it's too much.

Any ideas ? ._.

Without further context, I think dominating the flag with blue to purple (like space/galaxy) would be good, with gold and red accents. Since blue and red are complements, I think it's better if one is dominating the other, and use the gold and the other color as accents. Hope this gives you some idea!

Yep! I think that works pretty well. I'd recommend if the circle is also galaxy colored as I think having too many colors makes it look all over the place, but no pressure!
