so basically I’ve been using like actual people and tracing over them as for some reason I forgot how to draw. Now, I know it’s good as practice, but I wanna upload a video and I literally cannot find a reference. How do I find my artstyle? The way I draw? Ughh I’m so lost. Any tips would be heavily appreciated

#

ALSO! The 2nd drawing is not ai, I just gave up on the finger 💔💔

Heyy, so uhm idk if this sounds rude but kindly, I think you have too much soft shadows! Try adding hard shadows, it looks super blended! :3

  1. stop tracing, altho helpful in many cases u can be depending on it too much and that will limit you and your learning

  2. start drawing using images as references like having them off to the side maybe even off the same screen, you need to work on how you see things, how you break things down and view it, THAT is your inherent style, the way you draw naturally

  3. if you want to find an art style think of the media you consume, other artists, the drawings you like, how do they draw aspects? Maybe the way eyes look in one drawing is rlly cool so u try it and it works for you, not everything will though so its always good to experiment try new things

I watched a lot of videos of ppl drawing, like DrawingWiffWaffles, Lavendartowne, Jazza’s passpartout videos specifically, and other videos of just ppl physically drawing and talking. Speedpaints are good but for me hearing them talk about their thought process helps a lot

  • like with DrawingWiffWaffles she draws based on simple themes so you could technically always draw with her and imo she has an interesting simple style that can be helpful

If you like seeing people just talk about their art and get inspo sketchbook tours are good, personally i like Verz

It sounds oversimplified, but just draw. A lot. Study artists you like, and use references. Tutorials are amazing, but they don't make you good at something, they just tell you how to go about practicing that thing

And having fun is the most important part
