#proportion help
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
i've looked at quite a few anatomy videos but just feel like i can't do it too well
sometimes when i feel like i can’t quite get proportions right naturally, i try to find a type of reference with the pose to base off of!
I did use a reference my proportions just are bad lol
my lines are too stiff I think
Id recommend breaking the ref down into even smaller simple shapes
Many recommend drawing over the ref making ur own guidelines to help understand it better
doing this rn actually
i won't do it over the ref but i found some dedicated materials on pinterest
might grind it out for like
a week maybe longer
see how i feel
because this is defo my weakest point in art
i've only really drawn front facing things
Understandable
Thats good
Drawing over the ref can help if things get too challenging or if theres a disconnect, but i also get y some ppl dont want to
i've done it a few times in the past, just not my thing i think
plus i want more of a challenge, because i feel like it's not pushing me in the right direction enough
i'll leave it as a worst case scenario kinda thing
for now just breaking it down into cubes/rectangles -> smoothed shapes seems to be the plan
also dividing the main body into torso stomach and crotch will be something i'll need to get used to
most references for what i wanna do already do it anyway
Yeah i get that
I wish u luck :D
i'll call it in for now, but this is damn good compared to what i started with
i am still keeping it blocky/sketchy sometimes but getting the ball rolling with drawing is always what matters the most to me
just getting the more intricate bits down is always second priority only
i'll call it in for the day now but i'm very happy with how this one turned out
im confused and curious, why limit yourself to only a week for learning anatomy? because anatomy is something that keeps improving the more you practice it..
why restrict yourself?
that was just an estimate for the amount of time I'd like to practice that
it'll likely be way shorter considering how much progress has been made but still
did some more this morning
i mean theres definitely improvement but i strongly advise against limiting yourself to a week or a certain time frame. i think youre only making this harder on yourself, i understand wanting to create a challenge for yourself with not drawing on a reference and wanting to do it within a time frame but itll probably burn you out or make you start seeing "learning anatomy" as a chore rather than practice or the fun part of a process etc.
i mean I found drawing the stuff above pretty fun Lol
but I am getting better at it, so I'll stop soon
I will also learn how to draw clothes over it, that is my next objective
thats great! just remember that theres a learning curve, its not always a step-by-step thing, its more of a flow you get better at by staying consistent. if youre having fun, dont feel like you need to stop; theres always room to improve without rushing^^
I am very aware of that yeah, I started around 20 days ago and I've improved massively
I think you shouldn't rush for one
But your improvement is really good
You are in the right track. You may check proko in YouTube for more in depth tutorial
Essentially, breaking the body into 3 box
The head, the torso and the waist
Highly recommended to check proko channel in YouTube and search for robo bean
i'll give it a look
I've gotten better at anatomy but idk how to draw clothes at a perspective at all
hmmm
might have to ask around for that, otherwise I wont be able to complete a full drawing
not much improvement
i tried again but still
that one just seems to be difficult
i'll go watch some videos i think
idk i'm stumped
Try tracing a human figure for feel
I've done a lot related to anatomy today, I think I might keep redoing that one until I get it
also yeah I've already done that
Well in honesty. You could
-learn about robo bean and perspective
- in order to learn perspective, you have to learn how to do boxes
Which realistically that alone could take up to 3 months
I looked up a video or two from him and didn't find the exact thing I was looking for
You said anatomy yes?

In this episode we take the Bean and add structure to it based on the landmarks of the body. The Robo Bean represents the body as simple boxes to help us find its orientation and visualize it as a 3D for...
Gesture drawing can be tough to grasp, but I've found that focusing on movement and asymmetry helps create convincing figures. Instead of outlining contours, I use curves to represent parts of the body, starting with the head and moving through the spine, pelvis, and limbs. By thinking about the internal dynamics and using offset apexes in curve...
Here, we can try like this, send one reference you use for anatomy practice
I think the first time is learning the gesture first then after than you break it to simpler component
I'll check those out when I get home
checking them right now, will do some practice soon
i will focus on robo bean for now, the other one is too confusing
Proko has some video regarding beans and mannequinization
it did not go well
it was specifically the amount of anatomy terms
idk what's wrong with my technique
it is probably just too stiff
