idk how well it works with oils but with pastels ppl use hairspray
and if not just taping on some grease paper with Technical graphics tape/painters tape/whatever other names for it tape is very affordable way of doing it
theresa lott of ways {and a lot of professional materials] but i think the best would be the greas paper if u dont wasnt to buy lots of expensive things and heres a lil video with a dude who uses more profesional things ^^ andalso some techiques u can use redgardless
