maybe you could try playing with some basic shadows and/or highlights on the characters if you want them to stand out more. Also idk if its how the game is but maybe some variations in the background instead of it being all grey would make it more appealing. Im thinking of a simple gradient or different colors for the different parts or another color than grey (since white/black and any shade of pure grey tend to make most drawings more "bland/sad"
