this is my first time trying to do a painterly kinda style + a realistic dog lol

trying to make a gift for my bfs parents so im looking to what to do next 🥲 im
stuck trying to make it look good - painting and form + color wise.

(ignore the ear I have to fix it)

This looks really nice : ) Love how you managed to create the illusion of fur texture with the brush strokes!

If you want to you can try to go a bit bolder with the highlights. Not much, but it seems to me that the dogs coat is very shiny so you could turn it up a nodge : ) (dont know how you do it usually, but you can try an overlay layer if you like)

The snout seems to be a bit lighter in the picture, especially the part where you already drew white hair.
To stay true to the reference you can add a bit of color variety here in the base coat, maybe with a greyish brown

But really thats nitpicking, its already a wonderful portrait. you also did the eyes so well, they will love it : )
