Did i do too much shading?

you didnt do too much, honestly in my opinion i think you didnt do enough actually! but thats just personal preference since I like to have more contrast with light sources and shading, but this is looking good!
it seems like you may be scared of making your shading too dark, which is totally normal i see this with a lot of artists, so, not necessarily for this piece, in the future dont be afraid to go more bold and bigger with your shading! since it seems like you have a lot of expression in your work, higher contrast shading and interesting lighting would be really cool to see with your style i think!
