basically, max out your boards for everyone + ascend as much as possible

crafting is color based; the first unit pick has to match one of three colors (it'll show them) on the left side of the unit icon

then the 2nd unit has to have THEIR left color match the previous unit's RIGHT color

then you pick an item that corresponds to 2nd unit's right color

tldr match colors or you won't get bonus effects, maxing out character boards + ascending helps to hit the IV/V effect tiers

you can tap/click on the effects to bring up an explanation of what each does ifit isn't already obvious

that'll also show you the possible ranges for that unit, and they CAN vary between two units that have the same effect

eg one might have a 20% effect at tier V, another could have 25% or even 30% with the same effect

and the 1-attack dodge one considers multi-hit abilities to be "1 attack"
