Yep tact fields, but I know I shouldn't be using it on there and you shouldn't either except if you really want to upgrade your echoes.
I don't think so, I would probably pick the one with the echo inside of it that you may want (its not guranteded to drop) and the rest should be fine, I'm mainly doing it for xp.

I know of the 5 minute timers but those are for the tact field bosses and are incredibly hard, there are also some annoying challenges with timers but those aren't combat based.
The tact fields of just small echoes also have a 5 minute timer on them so except If I may have forgot I haven't encountered the challenge your talking about yet it seems.
