I will say, this game plays very well with a controller.

#

The only downsides I've seen is the item to the bottom-right of the minimap requires you to enter the Phone menu to access, and if you use a PS5 controller, you have to use it wired because the BT mode makes your character just run endlessly. Not surprising, though, given the lack of driver support for PS5 controllers on PC.

#

And of course when you plug in your PS5 controller the computer tries to use the small controller speaker as your primary audio output...

#

The camera turning is a bit slow for my liking as well, even when set to max, but that's just a personal preference thing.

The issue is that there's no PC driver for a PS5 controller.

So when wired it's fine because the controller can tell the PC exactly what it is.

But when wireless the computer just like "Uh, it's a generic controller."

Yea the mechanics are tied to break for instance some elites like the ice whatever u call it or the fire one they both attack a single a target then take a extra turn to cover themselves in ice or fire and that turns the single target to aoe

#

And to stop that u gotta break them asap

Bosses also have mechanics tied to break so you really gotta use different team comps not a same team thing

One feature from ToG that I'd love to see here and in Genshin that I've never really seen before in a game, and which I actually suggested to star rail already, is the "See X skill effect only once" toggle in graphics.

Just finished planet 1, and while did enjoy the boss fight, that auto-leveling of the BGM for it just ruined it so much for me. So I saw an air walk bug on genshin and was able to reproduce it on PC with some help from AHK once I understood how it functioned, and I'm currently running directly at Celestia.

Paimon can't actually stop the player in this bugged state because the player is completely incapable of doing anything aside from moving forward or stopping, so she just slows you down... and is extremely annoying, but you can walk out of bounds.

Sadly, Celestia vanished from the screen after getting close enough to it.

Not gonna stop me from running all the way to where it should be located based on cross tracing two views of it though.

Unfortunately though, once you enter OOB with this, you actually can't fall every again. Paimon locks you up completely, so only way out is a warp. Entering character trail just popped me back on the rock I started at (last ground touched, I guess?) and passing time didn't work to put me on the ground either.

If anyone else wants to fuck around with it, I wrote a simple AHK script for it, though unless you're playing in fullscreen 1440p (potentially on a 4k monitor?) you'll need to adjust the coordinates yourself to fit your resolution. Can use AHK's window spy to get the client values easily enough, just run the script, right-click it in the task bar, window spy.

Have to run it as admin otherwise genshin client will just ignore its inputs, and then you just hit "g" once you're lined up with your target and in a spot you can dive. Once it's done and you're standing on air, hold W. You can only move forward from there, space once to just run on air and regain directional control but will slowly drain stamina, then space a second time to freefall. The daily grind is way easier (and still has some life to it like genshin's via the Npc storyline daily quests, but not as much) than genshin with the just click to TP straight to them and auto clear, and simulated universe is an interesting groundwork that could be built into a unique roguelite within the game to break up the weekly monotony. There are little hidden quests, collections, and stories everywhere, including those that are time gated to keep side-quest content flowing too, and a healthy number of worlds. I do prefer the larger open world of genshin, but the smaller size here allows for a more curated world experience with less "empty open world" syndrome. So I'd say the least of my concerns is lack of content.

The most of my concerns is turn-based combat is a fossil off a dead Era Kek But hsr has brought back my old joy of planning out turn based strategy a lil bit. Still not better than active combat where player skill is the prevailing metric and there is no guaranteed damage, though.

Personally turn based is more preferable so to me this is more perfect then the open world that genshin does. But I can understand that it's personal preference at the end of the day.
I don't really mess with open world games I've played many and they all felt empty imo with turn-based it gives more room for a better story and more difficult content for me personally

Yeah, I mean, turn based combat is more strategy and resource management, action combat is more on the fly reaction and precision of inputs. Both have their merits, and both have their playstyles, so that's fair. I just played so much turn based as a kid, it's just old to me, and I prefer feeling like I'm in complete control. The active combat of vindictus, for example, still the best I've ever seen.

tbh i like genshin more overall in terms of playstyle and endgame which is the abyss 36*. You have no pressure to pull for characters on banners or drop a dime in the game, you can build 2 teams of 4 that clears the abyss 100% take a year break come back and still clear it. You dont fall behind in genhin and theres no fomo, thats more a you problem if you think there is and theres regular content drops which adds 30h+ of new stuff each month or so that stacks up

The way i play genshin is go semi-hardcore on it for a month or 2, clear all the new stuff and 100% zones then take a 4-5 months break to play other stuff and just do events or dailies in genshin when i have the time, to let new content stack

The thing is u can play star rail with just the units they give u for free. And the characters the gacha system is literally the same as genshin.
Also star rail has its own abyss but it's different obviously due to turn based so instead of a timer u have beat enemies within a certain amount of turns which can still be done with the free to play units
