even in pierogi money
best work mouse ive ever had
aight
thanks
Well, ended buying Voice of Cards 2. Only Game I will buy this sale
ok so how durable is this mouse?
I played brawlhalla for the first time
As is usually the case with me and fighting games
It devolved into finding the most powerful move, performing it at nauseam
And the usual reliable input spam
I got the old model with no RGB
I think with gaming mice it's super hit or miss
But this one I bought in 2019 and still using it
nah mate i gotta get that RGB
it's common knowledge RGB gives you some jacked frames
I don't know jack
Neither of these seem proper in that context

Is anyone here an expert at Terraria
I was informed that it was Minecraft in 2d
I'm yet to play Minecraft but from what I've seen of both they don't appear as similar as I was told
well - while they both share some similarities, minecraft is ultimately about building stuff
getting stuff to build more stuff and then using that stuff to build even bigger more elaborate stuff
while terraria is more like...

This is the original.
An extended version of the "How to Craft Zenith" Reddit post based on its comments:

minecraft wants you to build lots of stuff
terarria wants you to craft lots of stuff, if that makes sense
thought im not an expert on this
i dumped hundreds of hours into minecraft years ago but i barely touched terraria
it is not
terraria and minecraft are literally two games existing in the same genre that do similar things but ultimately are driving different player experiences.
thought the "terraria is 2d minecraft" comments died off years ago honestly
terraria also has a much heavier focus on fighting, which is why you need to do all that crafting. the boss fights are such a big pull that the most popular terraria mods typically feature insane bosses
Terraria is the better game because it's two dimensional
XCOM is a R__G_L_T_ game
Pokemon is a roguelite
Isaac is an action adventure RPG
Isaac is also a Third Person Shooter
Any developer willing to make 3 or more instalments in a series should have to suffer the consequence of numbering all of them sequentially
crusader kings is a roguelite
Not Pokémon, but Pokémon Mystery Dungeon
ok im outta here
Pokemon is a roguelite
no come back
going back to eating moldy cheese
skulking in a pitch-black bathroom
waiting for gloomwood - you know the drill

boomer
ping me when gloomwood comeso ut
What is a boomer shooter
L4D2
there are enemies called Boomer in the game
and you shoot them
which makes L4D2 a Boomer Shooter
Shooters with bombastic action?
foxhope....
yeah most shooters are boomer shooters
except for Doom because you kill demons
which makes Doom a religious game
any shooter that hearkens back to the old-time classics of the 1990s. - Google
So really old perspective shooters?
dont trust the internet
That's deep state propaganda
What's are they gonna tell you next? That XCOM is not a roguelite?
This is my first time encountering age effecting genre placement
I suppose time is as valid as any other parameter in this context
Where do I find the first boss in Terraria
you can also play terraria as a roguelike by making your character have perma death
first boss is typically eye of cthulhu, which spawns randomly at night once you've gotten like 75+? hp, or its summon can be found in chests

Everything is a roguelite
Simple words I can comprehend singularly, phrased together I only see jargons
life is a roguelite with crap RNG
Like Forest Gump once said, life is like a box of chocolate, you don't know which one you would get, so life is a roguelite
There is no truer words than that
Those tiny eyes are boss fights?
no
Tiny is only in the eye of the beholder
I assumed they were regular enemies
My gf told me it's about how you use it
The Eye of Cthulhu is a pre-Hardmode boss. It is one of the first bosses a player may encounter, as it spawns automatically when a relatively early level of game advancement is achieved. It can also be summoned manually with the Suspicious Looking Eye at night (see Spawn below).
While the Eye of Cthulhu is alive, the music Boss 1 will play. When...
its a giant eyeball
it will have boss music
Par for the course
Yeah in MC digging straight down is the fastest way to get to the underground level.
I've died a number of times
Too many times
19
In 3hrs
Maybe I should dig diagonally down
digging is a good way to find caves
if you find enough bombs along the way you can just bomb yourself a tunnel down
grenades too i think bc they wont hurt you and bombs will, but bombs are more effective, grenades dont destroy all tiles
Dig
Find caves
Find treasure
Find boss
Diggy diggy hole
I don't know how I just learned this, but apparently you can unlock all the LoL champions if you have Game Pass soon?!?!?
The Riot Games and Xbox communities are coming together to bring amazing content for Game Pass members. Today, Riot Games and Xbox announced that Riot’s biggest titles are coming to Game Pass this winter. We’re bringing together two of the biggest communities in gaming onto one platform. In a first for Game Pass, the partnership […]

is 2022 the year when we'll learn about the new SGG game?
according to my fanboy calculations
it should be either this year
or maybe next year
if we hear anything this year it probably wont be until the like the fall or smth
im not really counting on anything
the releases have been 3 years apart so 2023?
a hobby group that primarily engages in staring contest, which in their term is known as faze
i lied. i have no idea
Maybe it's a gaming term
I heard it in a gaming environment though it was unrelated
If I add it to the search term I might find something
There's faze clan
A popular music artist
Informal slang
The drone hobby group
And the staring contest group
"joining"
Therefore it must be one of the groups

why not both https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRA752Nop4w
This contains some random no damage fights from the last chance trial. All weapons were used although some of them were shown very briefly due to the time limit of this demo. I also show all the techniques i could discover, hopefully you find some of them interesting.

a sorely underrepresented genre
What is a character action game
dmc, bayonetta, and so on
(i prefer the name stylish action, character action is a terrible genre name imo)
Oh platinum style action games
yeah except they weren't the first
Just because they weren't the first doesn't mean they can't be the most associated symbol with the classification
Recently I learned that first person shooters were called doom clones in a ludology history lesson
Doom certainly wasn't the first first person perspective shooter
yeah its like how anything thats a monster collector gets tagged as a pokemon clone, when pokemon wasnt even the first monster collecting game, simply the most prominent/successful
just take well known game of a genre and then look at other games of the genre and you will probably see a lot of people call other titles a clone
and sometimes a game can indeed be a clone but more often than not they just share similar aspects, but still get called [popular game] clone
has anyone played a memoir blue yet?
It's interesting seeing what genres get clone style names (Doom Clone, Soulslike, Roguelike, Metroidvania) and which ones don't (Character action games)
And obviously which ones transition, like Doom clone
what would we call it I wonder
crylikes?
I basically call 2D platformers Mariolikes when explaining to non gamers
Platinium
reminds me of that one time my mom was against me buying Nintendo Switch cause she thought the only game it has are Mario games
- cough *
I MEAAAAAAAAAN

Switch has a pretty big variety of games
Almost all Wii U games are available there, too
All three of them?
all of these voices inside my head-like
Yes, including Breath of the Wild
Ok, 15 hours in I think Nirvana Initiative is better than Somnium Files tbh
Oh, they've announced a Nintendo Direct Mini for tomorrow. Guess what's trending on Twitter the moment it got announced...
Guess what's trending on Twitter the moment it got announced...
Gloomwood?
Oh
And just before that, lots of people throwing shade at Nintendo because somebody said something about an insider saying that X or Y was going to happen, which was predictably a lie
really expected you to say botw2
every time theres a direct everyone i see is constantly crying for botw2 news
I feel like botw2 is sinking deeper and deeper into the dev limbo every day
Next to all the scrapped valve projects and BG&E2
I mean, at least in my place, I see Silksong desperate fans and not BOTW2, or not nearly as much, anyway
i mean dont we already know that it would come out within a year?
i guess a concrete release date is better but
Never underestimate those fans, they're desperate
some of my fav games are dead ips that will never see the light of day again at this point lol i dont get being impatient abt games, theres plenty of other things you can play while you wait, it'll come out when it comes out
Kinda related
Watch the Remastered HD version of this here:

When I was still kind of a Pokémon fan, I was really expecting a Pokémon game on Switch for quite a while, but after Let's Go was released, I learnt my lesson
Learnt how to not get my expectations high before release
And it worked out nicely ngl
the higher your expectations are, the more likely you are to find your expectations not met lol
gently looks at hl3 wanters
And Kingdom Hearts fans, before KHIII was announced
Over a decade of wait, holy moly
exactly istg people dont know how to play other games lmao
like yes, i too am waiting for silksong to release. but im not complaining about it daily on the hk subreddit, im enjoying other games before it releases
crazy thought
in the valley of gods :(
like theres 50000 games on steam, and none of them are good enough for you to play while you wait?
and then every time a metroidvania comes out that they would love to play its actually a copy of hollow knight
Yeeeeeeaaaaahhh
But no other game can scratch that gloomwood itch but gloomwood
Ya know ?
i know but like there are still other good games out there
the hk community went rabid for like 9 months
I bought Disco Elysium and it hooked since hitting New Game
no it got awtul in 2021. 2020 was like "haha wheres silksong" but in 2021 it was all they could talk about
How hard to 100% Hollow Knight?
pretty easy
nah still 112
100% just takes time, 112 needs getting good
I opened P4 and stopped to play other things and haven't gotten back bc my xbox controller started getting drift
does hollow knight count the pantheon stuff as percent completion I don't recall
never did finish the last two pantheons...have to go back to that sometime
only till p4 iirc
I should replay Hollow Knight
I played it for a while one day and then never played it again
it's not that I don't like it, but I think playing it with keyboard is not the best option
me with chrono trigger and FF7
Keyboard and mouse is the best option
chrono trigger is fun but the beginning of the game is really boring
theres a few games i loved when i was younger that i find hard to revisit bc the first few hours of the game are such a slog lol
cough KH2 cough
Im so lucky I played both ffvi and Crono Trigger when they were released
portal 2 is so good
The furthest I've been is onto the time-spaceship and even then the combat felt really samey imo

man - i'll never forget the tens of hours of flash games i played on it back at school
i gotta find some of those and save them before they go completely extinct
anyone remember Vector TD?
that sci-fi looking tower defense game with neon colors where everything was synched to the beat of the music
yo! i found a page that still runs it on chrome!
I use edge as a pdf reader
YESSS vector TD was my jam! I was really bad at it tho
Nier A on Switch
Hear me out. What if Megaman Battle Network and Transistor had a baby? 🥺
With weapon combat more like Hades
So apparently I owe you an apology

At least it makes sense for Switch given the Smash Bros DLC and the Switch's insane reach in Japan
I forgot about the Direct Mini aaaaaaaaa
Who would have thought a Partner Direct could actually be fire?
Also, apparently Nintendo made Sonic Frontiers footage look not crap?
Like, to the point where I got hype about it despite not liking Sonic
The...the madmen did it
With the Cyber World stuff it might be like
25% good?
I still don't think the open world thing is going to work out super well
Well, those that mocked Nintendo fans for not getting the Persona collection can uh...delete their messages now
Mostly because it doesn't feel like "open world Sonic" from the footage they've shown, it feels more like "we dropped Sonic in an unrelated open world"
But I'm not gonna lie, I thought they wouldn't bring P5R to the Switch
The Nintendo footage makes it look like...not a tech demo
Which yeah, still makes me not trust the game because Sega messed up the last month of its marketing so badly, but at least it looks...mostly competent instead of unfinished
Is there any good ending in Binding of Isaac
Or is it just different ways of getting killed
There are...more and less wild endings for BoI. Idk if I'd call any of them good
So what’s the point of fighting 🤔
To see how wild things get I suppose
And because some endings are harder to get than others
i can't believe that Persona, an initial playstation exclusive series
is coming to switch and xbox earlier than it's coming to playstation, if p4 golden and p3p are coming to playstation at all
either playstation doesn't care enough to release them on its platform or it's coming later too
i'll be getting them on switch in any case
they are
coming to playstation
it's all platforms now
took long enough and I love seeing people cry and whine about muh exclusives
I'm under the impression that Persona's "modern" games are being ported to all platforms and they just wanted to extract maximum hype for the announcement by having each console give the news separately.
Also, never really got into P3 but apparently P3Portable has some exclusive content that was never in the "full" version, which is why we're getting that remastered instead of the original P3
Which, fair play if they didn't want to go through the hassle of redoing content for like a 15 year old game
portable is the better version imo
Portable has a second main character route and the ability to control your party, but replaces the 3d world environments with a visual novel style presentation, while FES has an epilogue chapter
So it makes sense they chose the more functionally playable version
Kinda wish they made this epilogue playable in this port, somehow
yeah i really preferred portable's option to control the rest of the party
i never got to play the original p3, but i managed to grab portable from the psp store a few years back and used my ps3 to port it to my psp lmao
i played it after finishing p5 and i think not being able to control my party would've felt rough
oh are they? 😮 i only saw news it was coming to switch but good to see
and they're remastering p3p and p4?
tbh
the epilogue is not fun at all to play
its really a youtube experience
but it would have been nice to have
p3p is upscaled to hd i think but idk how else they're updating it
p4g already has a steam port so i assume it'll be the same as that (hd but not a whole lot more done to it)
which is fine they're very good games
Isn't that just One Step from Eden?
There's one where he goes to heaven?
Most of the endings just flesh out the story though.
fun fact Valorant will be listening to your voice chat starting with July in North America only
love those spiders
finally decided to get anno mutationem and league ruined king from the steam sale
would have gotten forgotten anne as well but I’m already behind a backlog of 3 story games to play rip
I usually don’t play turn based games but its league so 🤷♀️
im sad song of nunu isnt out yet
or convergence but i think song of nunu got pushed back bc there was an icon bundle available on league for a very very brief time back in march
wow didn’t even know that was a thing
looks super cool
too bad I’m not a nunu main tho 😞
can still play nunu in a relaxing lil game :)
relaxing, i say as i recall in the beta footage theres a fight with lissandra lol
give me a renekton dating sim or riot
you can have a renekton plush in the mean time
looked it up out of curiosity and https://merch.riotgames.com/en-us/product/renekton-plush it’s so cursed
how dare you
i bought him on release he sits on the top of my shelf hes cute as hell
scuttle sold out like within a day lol everyone is objectively wrong however, renekton is the superior plush
Wow... I almost actually want that
too bad I'm a puck main now
also turns out all puck plushies are also cursed AF
puck from dota?
da
hmm puck from the og dota is a lot cuter haha
you WILL want renekton leagued legends plush https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FTxXLP2X0AY3ijG?format=jpg&name=large
not unless the tiel is included
sorry i need my old man to help me with gayming
(he does not help he just licks my keyboard)
back when I lived with one he'd just try to destroy the keys if I left him alone near the keyboard too long
he helps you lubricate your keyboard for maximum effectiveness

There Is No Light is a top-down pixel-art action game that comes to Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG in September 2022.

kd aside this game looks great
I'll be honest, I tried One Step From Eden as a Battle Network fan and just...could not get behind it
I think Battle Network being a progression based RPG helps ease you into all the insanity of its battle system. Trying to parse all of it out on the fly in the scope of a roguelike seems to make the barrier to entry way too high imo

Have played it. Pretty relaxing game to play making potions. It's coming out of early access this year I think. I think it's pretty good. Love getting the strategy down and learning how to make different sorts of potions.
Anybody have some good game pass recommendations for me to try out while I'm waiting for Cuphead DLC?
a bit after you posted this i got this game gifted to me... weirdest coincidence, it wasnt even on my wishlist iirc

New Mario + Rabbids looks absolutely fire
I'm hankering for a game with a story
Something profound, clever or at the very least interesting
With great graphics from a large company
I just need something
not a large company by any means but obligatory disco elysium plug goes here
Witcher 3
Or really any of the highly rated AAA in the past
doom eternal
in today's episode of "Man who thought he'd lost all hope in videogames loses last additional piece of hope he didn't know he still had"
oh wait
hang on
ok that thumbnail was a bit spicy
ANYWAYS - my point being
Diablo Immortal already earned over 20 mil dollarydoos
wow it's been a year but me and my sister finally afforded a switch game
lmfao
i cant believe i paid 45 euros for god damn Super Mario Party
although fun little title
how the hell does rafting work though
apparently it's not even good by blizz or gacha standards
i don't see that as a win
just...
just release all the stuff from realms deep and crash the whole indrustry already
i don't care anymore
You're too concerned with this
oh it's not just this, mind you
im concerned about seeing something i gave over 20 years of my life going down the crapper
it's a downward spiral with no bottom - it just keeps going
did you see that dev thread that said "nooo DLC isn't content cut from the base game just to make money, bc it's developed separately from the main one, and also we need that extra money to stay afloat"
And a whole lot of other devs coming in to defend this behavior
If Tabata is there, I'll throw him the slipper
hasnt here literally been cases of dlc genuinely being base content material
There has been
I don't remember which street fighter game but one had on disc dlc
when people pointed that out, OP and other fellow devs went "that's the exception not the norm"
But OP be missing the point of the fact it happening at all is a terrible thing and it probably happens much more than OP is willing to admit
with others jumping in with stuff like "there's so many worse practices like microtransactions and gambling, why are you fixating on DLC"
Those kind of people also suck
They're not wrong but why are you trying to shoehorn in a completely differant conversation
I argued that having post launch DLC is also taking advantage of FOMO to get more money from consumers and one dev basically said that's my own problem lol
@ReallyAzza @yamceres @TAHK0 Games are a commercial products. Change will only happen when players vote w their wallets, and right now wallets are sending a status quo-y message.
straight up in replies: this tactic is making us money, which means we'll keep doing it
@InputVoid I mean, there are less malicious explanations. 🤷🏾♀️ But yes, games are commercial products, so “greed” is all relative, and capitalism is inherently anti-consumer.
"we're in a capitalist society so deal with it"
Who dat?
Riiiight AAA games totally need dlc to break even. They definitely don't make 10's of millions profit nope not at all
dlc is weird cause it ranges from really good susbtantial content that builds on the original game
or it's obvious money grabbing
I don't think dlc is inherently bad unless it's the second one
Neither is ok with me
Maybe the first if it comes much later and they add it as an expansion, I can give that a pass if it's not like Sword/Shield
I mean
I don't really see the issue with the first one
stuff like day one dlc obviously falls under the second category
"Change will only happen when players vote w their wallets"
well, you see, the problem is that they have, and the market decided they were no longer the target audience and doubled down on preying those vulnerable to fomo and addiction tendencies instead
expecting things to change ONLY if people "vote with their wallets" guarantees nothing will actually ever change lol
it was a good message for a little bit, but we're at a point that saying "vote with your wallet 🤷" and expecting that to be the end of it is quite hollow
i dont even care about the dlc argument, seeing anyone still saying vote with your wallet in the 2022 landscape of gaming is incredibly tone deaf
iirc, it was also said massively during Borderlands 3's EGS-exclusive release, which then became the most successful game in the series...
I'd post the reply of another dev saying if DLC causes FOMO that's my own fault for having human psychology, not the poor game company just trying to stay afloat but I already blocked them so
imo whether DLC is pleasant or not depends on the price of the base game and how much content it brings
like warcraft 3's expansion would probably be a DLC today, which costs around the same as the base game and had 4 whole new campaigns with new races and map objectives
Pokémon MD EoS is also basically its prequels with some new pokemon, one new story mission, the Cafe where you can trade junk for useful items, and side stories
which could have been a DLC instead of reselling the same game another time
but the extra stuff was really good so people were happy anyway
turns out people don't care as much about epic exclusives as angry people on the internet would have you believe lol
vote with your wallets is indeed a dumb phrase though
never even heard of dlc causing a fear of missing out before now though
I mean, what other option is there?
i mean yeah there isn't another option
its a weird situation because it is both the only option and also it has almost never worked lol
I hear that for sure. I guess I'd just say that voting with your wallet is more for your sake than theirs
If the modern gaming industry just isn't for you anymore, there's plenty of other spaces that might cater to your needs more (even though a lot of smaller developers have to resort to less than savoury tactics too)
yeah i'm just confused as to when ordinary dlc became 'less than savoury'
stark difference between "we made even more game after release" and actually scummy dlc
Is there a recent game you can think of that's done "ordinary dlc" well? I'm trying to go back through my mental list
Because DLC is a catch all for a lot of different situations
Like, based on how you look at it, the past 3 Mario Sports games on Switch have had more game come out after release. I think all 3 of them were criticized for their poor DLC practices
Monster Hunter World with Iceborne
Now Rise with Sunbreak
Though in the past both of these would be classed as expansions due to the sheer amount of content in both
That's a respectable answer. It is wild to see Nintendo go so far overboard with DLC now when before they vowed never to touch the idea.
maybe fomo isn't a best word, but I feel with social media today, there's a lot of pressure to buy DLC just because all your friends got it and are talking about it online
especially if it's a co-op mode
I think it's like when amount of game per dollar is much less in the DLC content than the base game
What is "fomo"?
Fear of missing out
I see
that was a general comment in regard to the vote with your wallets phrase. i wasnt talking about dlc in specific
the vote with your wallet comment just made me irate bc it rings hollow in the current gaming landscape. people have literally been saying this for years and its gotten us nowhere, you need to do more than vote with your wallets
oh yeah for sure
i was gonna point at Old Reliable xcom 2 but then i realized that game is somehow 6 years old now
its tough to say cause i haven't really bought many recent games with dlc but i think most indies do it decently well (darkest dungeon the crimson court was 2017???)
maybe with the slight exception of binding of isaac getting rereleased like 20 times lmao
prey's mooncrash dlc was very good I think
does that not happen with full games too? idk
oh forgot doom eternal did it well too in terms of more recent AAA releases
did I like them? ehh but they were moderately substantial
same with resident evil 7 (and presumably village)
there's plenty of games that do it extremely poorly (whatever atlus has going on with their newer games) but I wouldn't rule out everything
honestly dont know of any recent game thats done dlc and done it well
though i suppose to be fair most of them are games not even on my radar so i dont really pay attention
ig it depends on what we consider "recent" lol
its a struggle for me to think of recently released games i've even played let alone ones with dlc
yeah...
Outer Wilds
In my experience usually the dlc adds a good bunch to the game, be it something that didn't make into the cut or was added in later with good consideration of how to fit it. But then again I don't play big AAA titles to say I have bad experience with dlc, though to me the meaning is loose. Since there is paid DLC and DLC that's like more like a side free update. But then it's rarity for DLCs to be even thought about since or the game didn't make enough money for such addition, or made well more than money to be paid or just never had anything in mind for an addition. Tasteful DLCs are definitely a thing, just that DLCs I think are rarity to even happen now.
Yeah Outer Wilds is a good example. Though unsure how recent it's now.
Echoes of the Eye was just last year
It stands out because it manages to be a piece of the puzzle that you don't even realize is missing
It does, and is also worse nowadays because games are becoming more expensive relative to average income, and the number of games people are being exposed to is higher, both from more widespread social media, and the consumption cycle being faster now
Like I picked up Hades mid last year and by the time I finished there's not much new fan organized events anymore
this is absolutely true and i cant think of any game where this isnt the case other than when its free
which isnt really normal dlc at that point
i play almost no aaa games so i dont have to deal with ridiculous amounts of paid dlc as much
like i was going to buy civ 6 just because i heard it was good until i looked at steam and i would have to pay like $30 for a full experience even with sales because there were like 20 post release addons in one form or another
which is complete bs
like im willing to pay $30 for a good game (although i normally never do) but $30 where most of that money is dlc signals something scummy to be and is a big turn off
i dont think ill ever really get into aaa titles anyway for a plethora of reasons
i might play a dark souls game or two sometime in the future but probably wont go beyond that
games like civ and the sims are horrendous for that
to be fair (or possibly maybe biased), civ is worth the experience…but it does make sense to wait for all the dlcs first, and then decide if you’re willing to spend in order to jump in (especially for 6, it seems)
don’t know about the sims, but at least for civ you do expect there to be at least two significant dlcs with a lot of new content, or so it has been from civ 4
yeah with civ they're definitely substantial and the games are pretty complete even without them
most grand strategy games' dlcs are geared towards people who have already been playing the game for a while
same with paradox games although those are less substantial and uh
vastly more numerous
i do like to make fun of paradox i am not paying upwards of $200 for stellaris dlcs
a game being "worth" the experience is certainly subjective
Metal Gear Rising Revengence 10/10 for me.🗿 🗿🗿 🗿 🗿 🗿 🗿 🗿
Blasphemous, a good story expansion and new dungeons to explore. And it's all free, to boot!
And also Spanish dub and language, they didn't have enough money at first to do that
The only thing about Blasphemous that isn't free (DLC) is a skin on the Steam version, iirc
ooh
had an eye on blasphemous for a while
Blasphemous is better than hollow knight
Speaking of DLC, Delicious Last Course out now, and I'm still not sure where I'm buying it on
I managed to become a Series X stan in between 2017 and now,so I guess I buy the full game plus DLC again on Microsoft store so I can play on PC and Xbox
Just stumbled upon this while browsing Imgur, there's Hades too ;)
Artist is https://www.instagram.com/ultimate.inktrash
https://imgur.com/gallery/3EThGcY
Blasphemous is beautiful, gothic Spain at its finest
And it's pretty gruesome, too
The game won't give you a good explanation about the lore, though
Good
LMAO!
i absolutely adore this trend of running doom on anything with a screen
the "it runs doom" thing
i've seen it run on the weirdest stuff
from giant blibboards to old digital cameras
i've seen someone running it on a printer, i've seen it running on a... single keybord key (it had a 80/80 display built in for icons... and that was apparently enough)
ATMs, smart fridges, graphic calculators powered by potatoes, old ipods, osciloscopes, some medical stuff, macbooks touch bar thingy, a... thermostat? and so on
and i've seen people playing it using piano keys, trumpets and... toasters
cotnd update in like 5 years
So I tried out Disc Room on XBox Game Pass and was pleasantly surprised: https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/disc-room/9pk5g9hbh6nh
Are you ready to get sliced in half? The year is 2089 and a giant disc has appeared in orbit of Jupiter. Step into the oversized space suit of a brave scientist and explore this sprawling intergalactic slaughterhouse.
Explore the expansive orbiting disc ship, moving room to room surviving, and completing increasingly complex goals set forth. Us...
"oversized spacesuit" did musk write this bio?
I never thought I'd ever find a game that's basically Super Hexagon with Metroidvania elements, but its a survival arcade style game like Super Hexagon structured as a Metroidvania
It's...a lot more fun than it sounds amd honestly is probably a good gateway drug for bullet hell style games
It's definitely a greater than the sum of its parts style game. It's a Devolver Digital thing and for sure feels like it
No the joke was that spacesuits are so large because they have life support systems and the ones musk uses for SpaceX are not large and thus can't contain life support for in case the ship gets damaged. Meaning his are just undersized

iPod Disc...
Yeah, I remember the Doom iPod port. It's not even that out there considering it was an official release
I used to have Sonic 1 on my ipod classic. Never got around to downloading the Doom game though
i mean
this meme has gone so far... we've gone full circle
and now you can play doom in doom
in two different ways, at that
there's an old PC in doom eternal that runs full doom 1 and 2 (though super borked - it's clunky as hell, your shotgun makes door sounds and it can even crash your PS4
)
but the best one i've seen was a doom 2 map that has an arcade machine in it
and when you use that arcade machine - it boots up doom 1
and in that doom 1 there's ANOTHER arcade machine
and when you use it... it boots wolf3d
like...
god damn it
i should've known
i love video games
such a shame that my fave "doom ran on dumb stuff" video got removed
there was this one... absolute mad lat that made a controller... out of a toy trumpet
using three buttons to move and use stuff
and he literally had to...
doot to shoot
it was hands down some of the funniest stuff i've ever seen
Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I ran Doom on some potatoes when nobody else cared
In western America born and raised
On the floor of my garage I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And boiling some potatoes, bou...
literal potatoes powering a calculator
(which then runs doom)
a super cut down version, sure
but i'm sure he could eventually get that raspbery pi to work
"I'm sorry, miss - seems like you're having DEMONS"
raspberry is kinda cheating tho
is it now?
i mean - you have to run it on something
like I watched a "nes running doom" vid except the dude just put a rasp pi into it
which is like 4000 times faster
yeah but this test wasn't really about the hardware
but about a source of power
we can't spawn doom out of thin air
well - not yet anyway
i just finished mgsv today
it's just a matter of time though
the quiet exit mission was so damn hard that I had to use a trainer to get past it
kojima you bastard
The closest we have to MGS3 on PC is EVA's jumpsuit, Naked Snake's outfits and The Boss outfit in MGSV
yeah but can i prevent world war 3 in a non-lethal way by throwing frogs at soldiers and stealing all their instant noodles while wearing a silly croc crap and making crappy one liners?
can i capture a live snek at the beginning of the game, give it a name and take care of it and love it for a few days before throwing it at the last boss during a dramatic duel thus ruining the moment?
Also damn I unlocked the cyborg ninja outfit but i cant be arsed to get an S rank on everything to unlock Raiden.
I finally made substantial progress in Terraria since I first started playing it
... relatively speaking
I have a grappling hook, a bed and mostly gold equipment
As well as a fairly extensive collection of crafting paraphernalia
Though I need to mine so I can acquire metal armour so that I can actually explore my world
Since that terribly harsh purple biome is on either side
I need protection to make it through alive
Can anyone recommend any good top down sci fi shooters plz? looked into ascent, helldivers already
New Aliens game coming out might be decent?
:keksplosion:
corruption. fwiw if you can gear yourself theres a boss you can summon there and the loot it drops is needed to mine in the underworld
also corruption will spread across the world later and destroy biomes, if you want to try and take preventative measures ahead of time, but its not something to worry about until you can get around in the underworld comfortably
aliens dark descent?
Yes, that's the one
More jargons
Are there other biomes
Are there any helpful amenities for mining?
well, yes
based
Ive been speedrunning it last few days its been a blast
It's unfortunate that the worst speedrun I've ever seen is one of MGRR
The person absolutely hated the game
If so, why does the purple biome appear twice
Is it constantly spreading
theres multiple spawns across the world
it does not spread until you kill a specific boss called the wall of flesh, that enables hardmode
man it's been so long since I played terraria
I think the last time I played it was some time before they added a real final boss
had so much time in it though
You wanna see some fun speed runs ?
Watch dusk devs reacting to a speed runner just going
through their game
They’re both just completely crapping on this game like
“Oh yeah so your game is completely broken”
“
oh yeah I’m aware of that “
Good times
emulated runs pretty well with my potato cpu
some cutscenes that uses blurring slow down sometimes, but gameplay are mostly smooth
Oh yeah - I finished it on an emulator too even on a potato laptop
Though I had to finish the chase scene by staring at the ground just to keep my frame rate above 10
Had to tank all the damage
But I want a proper pc port for better performance and a potential for mod support
Whew, I really don't know if Philly will be able to clutch this out versus Hangzhou.
So in Sunbreak, there's a monster called galmagorg. As a joke I keep calling it galangal.
Now I can only remember it as galangal
What does galangal mean?
There is a soundtrack in BPM called Fight of the Valkyrie which I think is a pretty clever name.
I know what that is just from watching too many egg fried rice videos
Lmao
use galangal!!! not ginger!!!!
Idk why people are so obsessed over egg fried rice. I just make like a crispy egg on rice with soy sauce and can it a day.
Is this a rhythm game
I just like soaking the rice in the egg and frying it at once to convince myself I'm a pro cook
You can boil the rice for a minute or two and wash it thoroughly
Then cook it in beef or chicken stock
Then use that rice to make the fried rice
woahhh crypt of the necrodancer got an update after 5 years
that game had some great music
these are some fantastic changes too
custom music playlists, save & quit mid run, much faster load times, no beat mode for all characters
you can actually enable more than 1 mod
Oh nice I'll have to check that out. The game is on sale on Steam rn, right?
Crypt or BPM? Ig the answer is yes.
yeah its $3 rn
I never actually managed to beat the game and never picked up the dlc but I always liked it
might be a big enough reason to go for it
crypt, haven't checked out bpm. i was actually horrendous at crypt lmao but i did like the music
I just bought game + DLC on steam sale just bc it was cheap
Have fun
It’s amazing
Check out all the mods too
There’s some great stuff out there
lol it's at the bottom of the backlog for now

What games have priority
such is the game renter life

I rented FE 3 hopes but now just don't wanna play it rip
Where are you able to rent games for Microsoft Windows?
You’re a bit late to the “f Konami” party
About… 5 years, I’d say
3 DAYS.
Yes
and i cant even use cheats to skip it
Wait what's that?
so mgsv has this online component in the singleplayer as well where there's an online only money and resource pool and you can get exclusive online guns but like those are worth a lot and are legendary
and you gotta wait or pay up real cash to finish the development
it's a fine game without those though
i was just curious to see what the ultimate form of my fav weapons looks like
also im getting my ass kicked in multiplayer
a 1939 jeep willys is you fave weapon?
i mean - it does hit like a truck, but...
it's not really a viable long-range weapon
nah it was a random screenshot i liked the view
also my god just when i thought i understood metal gear's lore i got even more bamboozled
i wish this series got a cohesive lineup of sick yoji shinkawa cover art
instead of some tacky ass characters posing
like this goes hard
oh yeah - this art is god tier

and then MGS4 came along and it was just...
raw ass CGI old snake on the cover
i found a high quality photo of like 6 games with Yoji's art
but it takes a ton of time since i run my pc on mobile data cause internet's down
also im thankful that in Europe we got the good Heavy Rain cover art with the origami
pissed off guy with a gun
it's kinda crazy how most art covers are picked by marketing teams
yeah
also didn't Yoji also make a The Last of Us cover?
man if ONLY we got to see how Venom Snake joined Outer Heaven and what happened with the Sahelanthropus
it would have gone full circle
it's been 7 years of phantom pain my god
i keep forgetting that there's an evil dead game out
Did it come out recently? 🤔
ye
Then I can hazard a guess
god I love Shinkawa's art
anyone heard about the Quantic Lab story?
metal gear 😭
played first one when i was a kid. totally believed everything the game said lmao
there used to be game shops here, in shopping malls. they sell pirated games burned on CD. those times were wild

Can't wait for this one
ITB is the greatest thing since FTL
Stands to reason ITB Advanced will be the greatest thing since FTL Advanced
I think egg and cheese are the greatest thing since FTL
separately? yes, together? no
not a fan
Just got slay the spire
Realized it's a lot like hades
But more frustrating
Hahaha
Cause it's room reward rng and deck rng at the same time
in the sense that they are both roguelikes?
i think eventually you learn what is good and what is not
and then the real fun begins
Yeah, the only thing they have in common is that they're roguelikes

Oh about that, I've got a tweet of a former employee...
This is the company that shut down my studio and laid off ~100 great developers because we were making a single player game 😂😭😂😭

Ah, EA, as ridiculous as always
In case we forgot about them with all the non EA related bull storms as of late
cue Vine Oh hell nah sound
I found that deck rng became a lot more manageable in Slay the Spire after learning to default to not taking a card after each fight.
Only take cards if you have a plan as to how they'll fit into your deck, and budget your resources to allow you to remove cards from your deck as they become irrelevant
great, I already have a crush on kai
thanks
The one redeeming quality of EA is that technically SGG wouldn't have existed without them.
But then again they also shut down Westwood studio...
Oh man if only the Red Alert series doesn't die
It’s still alive in our hearts
Mostly thanks to frank klepacki playing its music live, but still
What is the maximum amount of health in Terraria?
according to google its 600
i havent played the game tho so i have no idea of how correct this is
mhmm you can get up to 400 using heart crystals, and then to 500 eating life fruit after defeating plantera in hardmode
edit; they spawn after a mech boss is beaten lol
i feel like this is the 100th time i say this by why is epic launcher so damn unresponsive
how hard is it to display a list with some pictures and a link to an .exe file
like, seriously
they spend all their money on giving out free games instead of fixing their launcher lol
yeah its 400 pre hardmode (480 with lifeforce potions) and 500 in hardmode (600 with lifeforce ptions)
oh man
We went hands-on with Endless Dungeon and found it to be a delightfully punishing roguelite with a gorgeous and colorful art style.
#IGN #Gaming
this video pisses me off
not because of the contents per se
but because of the pretentious rougelikes vs rougelites details
and of course getting it wrong
the dude implies that rougelites are somehow easier than roguelikes (probably bc of the meta progression)
while difficulty has little to do with differentiating the two
genre names were a mistake
It's funny tho
Dungeon of the endless was basically one if my fav games although I loved how they said it was 5 genres at once
And endless Dungeon feels basically like a remake of it so I'm all for it
The day they announce Endless Legend 2 is the day I pay full price for a game
I played a bit of Endless Dungeon the other night.
finally finished nier automata ending b thank god I’m done with all the hacking 😓
Honestly enjoying it, few bugs, but I love this approach too. Just now though you think less tactically? Or well you do, but it shifted a bit more to reflexes and positioning at choke points rather than on trying out new sentries and what not.
all i see here is ign being ign
grats on finishing the prologue
(jk)
oh look
it's a highly cinematic sony game set in a lush enviroment with light RPG mechanics, third person combat, crafting, waist-tall grass and a sappy story
uncharted but norse gods tho
same, I really liked seeing Kratos have an amount of character development
What if one of the edgiest protagonist of the '00 has to become a father?
tbf, Kratos is still incredibly edgy but is now also Dad of Boi
I never expected it to ever happen though
but he already was a father!
and he did develop as a character - at least in the first game
we dont talk about that
tbh they shouldnt have marketed the game as a cinematic continous shot experience when you gotta do tiring rpg stuff items
ps exclusives are more fun to watch on youtube
now now
keep in mind - god of war had to go down this slow, cluttered 30fps path to finally be taken seriously
cause yeah - god of war sure as hell was the right series to try to make all artsy and pretentious
gameplay?
what gameplay? we're ashamed of the games we've done in the past
now go and collect a bunch of videogamey stuff and increase your armor by a tiny bit to offset the damage you take from the locked camera and simplified combat
i dunno
i just find this new god of bore to be hypocritical as all hell
The one thing I didn't like about the game was how repetitive some bosses were
too many giants and valkyries
but it kinda had to be - those slow cinematic oscar-bait tearjerkers were all the rage back in 2018
and they're still now
stuff sold boatloads so
I like some Oscar Bait from time to time
yeah me too, but...
was god of war really the series that had to go that route?
like - they had to nerf and roll back so many things that made this series cool just to cram that story in there
I think they thought the edgy anti-hero was past his due
and then halfway through it the game has some sort of identity crisis and suddenly can't decide if it's a reboot or a sequel or whatever
I personally liked Darksiders 3 in that aspect where the protagonist was edgy but not comically so
yeah then don't make him edgy
he had a family, a wife and a son
that's why his skin is all white - it's their ashes that got glued to him via some sort of curse
like - ok
this new dad of boi is all super serious and
but this transition happened before the game even started
The, his body paint is in fact the ashes of his dead family will never not make me laugh
how about a title that shows him going from
to
?
Sorry it's just too Try hard
i dunno - i thought it was fine for the game it was in
it's mythology - kratos casually just walked out of hell at one point - whatever
it's cool
bring hack and slash back
ty game devs
literally am sick of slow combat i want stylish combat back
but whatever - let's leave all of this aside
let's stop complaining about the story and pretend it's a perfect piece of art - thanks to which video games will finally
... be taken
seriously
like - i couldn't even write this sentence without a huge grin on my face
anyways
we got dmc v last year
serious times now
that was....2019
did the gameplay really have to get so nerfed to accomodate this story?
...time blindness be real lol
I freaking wish it was 2019 again lmao
idk why hack and slash is dying
it totally isnt saturated if you ask me
i mean
0/10 - severe lack of dads and bois
mgr and dmc v were rather cinematic
especially those in game scripted events
and yes interesting camera angles = cinematic to me
i'm talking "we really really really wanna be like our old brother medium but couldn't break out into hollywood so we're just writing for games now" cinematic
ehhhh
to be honest some games do better at being deep and engaging and arent even written by hollywood rejects
this reminds me Space Marine 2 is coming and it was a good hack and slash
not that stylish but compensated with the weight and gore and executions
it was mad fun
I quite like Va-11-ha11-a which does a good job of writing its story and something I wanna get back into
well yeah - i mean
look where we are
SGG games have some of the best writing out there
and i love them for that
especially transistor
but my point is...
going back to dad of boi
punished kojima snake as much of a mess he makes he makes it more engaging than some pretentious games
or half life lore
or deus ex, or legacy of kayne
why do all of those sony games ||which btw - are getting so similar to each other they're about to hit ubisoft levels of recycling|| all of the sudden pretend to be ashamed of being video games?
why did god of war have to sacrifice good gameplay to shove in this sappy story?
i know if you want good lore you need more media to expand but some games had good lore on their own
such as Iron Lung
yes.
why can't we have both?
and if we can't have both then make a whole new series for this story... get off your high horse and stop pretending you're above those older titles, sony
what are Sony's next exclusives?
i don't know, but it's safe to assume it's going to be a 30 fps third action game set in a lush enviroment with waist high grass, crafting, light RPG elements and a sappy story
bonus points if it features a bow, and has the same goddamn boring UI that's just white lines and blurry backgrounds
make those games have fun gameplay that's all i want tbh
mgsv was almost the same but it was fun to play
ok actually not
it was way more sandboxey
it used to have fun gameplay - that's my problem
sony games are never sanboxey actually 💀
but all of the sudden it has this restrictive, zoomed in camera, clunky combos, cooldown timers, half the framerate and twice the ferns, cluttered UI trying its hardest to make up for the camera, loot garbage and crafting and what not
and it's like...
how does any of this relate to this new fancy mature story again?
how does any of this benefit this new cinematic "one take" approach?
minimal UI is always cool
it's samey
and it's anything but minimal in god of war
with little bit here and little bit there
double healthbars and levels or whatever floating above enemies and those goddamn threat arrows around kratos
ironically - old god of war games used to zoom out the camera during combat which not only helped gameplay (cause - you know - you could see and quickly react in this quick action game without relying on some artificial stuff like floating arrows lol) but it also gave us those huge, gorgeous and cinematic vistas
and it ran at 60 - even back on the ps2
we can't have that now for some reason
10/10 "game of the generation" my sore ass
6/10, apply yourself
although "game of the generation" is pretty accurate
cause it encapsulates every goddamn thing wrong with the ps4 generation of action games

unlike previous generation, i don't even know about what would be the systemseller for PS5 anymore
DemonSouls remastered? Maybe, but chances to be a PS3 systemseller for the original are also decent
Ratchet and Clank rift apart? Nice tech demo, but the series never has been a systemseller, unfortunately
And.. that's pretty much it, anything else will be out for other platforms sooner or later, as the history taught us.
Does it really worth that much money and waiting?
no
So I've tried out the demo of Final Fantasy Origin on the PS4 and...it's horrible performance wise, it's like a PS3 game
tell me why
yeah i've heard its even worse on pc
sucks cause i was kinda interested in it
The chaos game?
That one
Who here remembers skylanders as a big part of there childhood
Did anyone get Fire Emblem Warriors? I miss playing a musou with my bf, we loved Zelda on the WiiU but Age of Calamity was unplayable on the Switch, too much lag…i was wondering if FE managed to fix this
hi yup
loved that franchise
I'm playing the newer FE warriors right now
Yup, this is the one i am thinking about 🙂 did you try splitscreen multiplayer? I wish they’d have online multiplayer…
did someone say skylanders
I have no friends so I play alone
the stealth is so braindead in shadow of mordor and i love it
literally a pack of orcs walking and i run sneak from behind taking one by one from behind and they don't see it
literally zero periferal vision
if someone is behind them might as well say they didnt even sense them
you can just run straight at them in front and if you're fast enough you'll still be able to get a stealth kill before they yell ITS DA TARK
I love the shadow of mordor games
Yes sir. How might we help you today?
Today's special is a Roguelite collection.
We have classics such as Isaac, Slay the Spire, as well as more experimental blends such as XCOM, Minecraft.
FPS are in aisle 3. Old school stuff is in aisle 4.
stop the videogame industry from decaying in front of my very eyes
one of the most creative racing games of the last decade gets even dead-er than it already was
Sir, this is Wendys SGG Video Games

What racing game?
driver: san francisco

just port MGS3 to pc, please
