Funnily enough I bought TWW3 and Elden Ring with 6 months of difference and ended coming out a week apart
ngl neon white seems pretty fun just wish they had actual gun models instead of just the cards
Make that 5, but I have prepared my overall thoughts on all of the demos.
I had only time for FAR changing tides xd
It is promising but quite short I hope they add more variety of vehicles for the full game
Do you think the new Soul Hackers will be enjoyable without having playing the first?
different protagonist + atlus games dont really do "sequels"
i dont think atlus expects the majority of its audience to play the first game either
I need the Tactics Ogre/Battle series to come back
its confirmed you won't need to
Nice, then
Elden Ring embargo is up

Finally the internet will shut up about it
Bold of you to assume that
Turns out "Dark Souls but bigger and the best mechanics of the whole franchise" is something people like
10 on IGN too
These 10/10 scores basically says this is the perfect game, no faults, no wrongs, all the right things done
if the game journalists think its that good it must have a pretty amazing tutorial sorry, opening cutscene
My biggest fear is that we will end overloading the Online mode lmao
ok but
how does it run on base PS4
i don't trust review scores, i'll wait for actual people to play it
Smart move
which soulslike game is good to play on PC? ideally not at premium price tag, im broke :(
I can give you a list of soulslike I liked and I played on PC
yee
You like them 2d or 3d?
3D
Ok gimme a sec
Ashen
Shattered - Tale of the Forgotten King
The Surge (2 is better than 1)
Right now I remember this ones
thank you!
You are welcome
Dying Light is so fun
I wish Turkey was real
Jokes aside Sector Zero is such a comfy location
How much advance time did journalists get with their review copies?
Souls games already take forever to beat. I can't imagine playing a whole Open World variant then having enough to write/record/release a review
Games become much more enjoyable without ever looking at reviews. Maybe read the non-rated ones like the ones RPS does for example, but the whole numbers game is ehhhh
im just sitting here hoping for Bloodborne PC port
idc about Elden Ring tbh, not gonna buy it
I typically skim the score just to make sure the game didn't launch a buggy mess, but yeah generally agree
I'm saving my money for the better releases in the next month
Like Kirby. And Advance Wars
No copium at all
Ok, I'm halfway down the demos
The Bloodborne port will luckily come with either a possible sequel or the 10th anniversary
all of the reviews i've read for games i actually played were heavily factually incorrect and screamed 'i didn't like something minor in the tutorial so i'm going to drag the whole game down due to a blatant lie'
shoutout to ign
Depending on what you're looking for in games, reviews that give some kind of overall score or pro/con table are just fundamentally useless, because they treat games like pure products. Especially back when they tried to rate different categories like gameplay/graphics/sound etc but it fell apart when the toned-down adventures came about
I played so many games that were extremely lacking in multiple aspects but they were still great and recommendable experiences, which just wouldn't reflect in an overall score. But I'm also privileged in the sense that I can dedicate enough time and money for games without having to consciously decide if I wanna make the investment every time. And I still do get kinda happy when the games I like get good scores...
so how many floors are there on hades im at the temple of styx
@vapid juniper #h1-for-new-players would be able to help you out
Jebus those reviews
What I fear is that this is gonna be peak From.
I hope this is not the best game they'll put out and they continue making beteer and better
Damn, some Demos are LONG
Considering a lot of people were worried that Elden Ring was going to be From's Scalebound, I'm actually happy it seems to have turned out so well
wait for sales or might not even get it because no money, simple
but it seems like a good game as long as the performance is good and little bugs
No pressure. I didn't pick up Sekiro until it hit like $20, and that was literally a goty winner
There's too much other stuff to play to fuss about being the first to play every new game. I tend to like playing through From games with a guide anyways
only a week
which is a bit ridiculous
If a journalist was given Elden Ring as their only task for the week, then I can see it being a sufficient amount of time
It does make me wonder how on earth reviewers are expected to do proper reviews for modern games, which are definitely trending upwards in play time
You donât need to play a game the whole way through if you know what youâre looking for
Obviously youâll miss some finer details that way, but in the fast gaming market nowadays, journalists canât have it any other way either, they probably just suck it up and move on
Which is the reason why I canât fathom why game reviewers would ever give a game a perfect 10/10 score
one week for a sprawling open world game is pretty low
if i had to try and rush through everything i don't think i'd be able to give a fair assessment
what's the game called
Welcome to Hard Drive
np, I didn't think video gaming needed their own The Onion, but some of Hard Drive's stuff is funny anyways
Oh so it's a satire website
âItâs still stuck in AC: Valhalla era of open gamingâ
AC: Valhalla came out in 2020 lmao
I did chuckle at that one
Only 3 demos left
demos this demos that and no one has talked about any of the demos they played
i only tried a few but i like where core keeper is going and am interested to see what they do with early access
Wait, how many demos are there? How long can we keep them?
over 600 demos, according to steam https://store.steampowered.com/sale/nextfest
i think they are only available for the duration of nextfest, unless otherwise specified
I actually was gonna write a more exhaustive commentary once done with my Elden Ring session xd
Imma start know

PART 1: Good demos (Not ordered inside the categories):
-FAR: Changing Tides (30 minutes): Same premise as FAR: Lone Sails but offering a more variety of engines to pilot, and better made puzzles. If you liked the first game you'll should definitively try this demo
-Neon White (40-70 minutes, depending if you try to tackle the extra hard challenges): Fast Paced demo with an irreverent tone and VERY short (Less than a minute) levels, feels weird your weapons are depicted as cards but if you are into platforming you'll like this one
-IXION (50-60 minutes): Fascinating colony building game, maybe it sins of having too much text with characters rambling non-stop but the gameplay loop is solid, the production values are quite high and the premise is quite intriguing
-ANNO Mutationem (30 minutes): Played again this Next Fest. Still one of my most expected videogames of the year, I have high hopes for this 2d RPG Cyberpunk game.
-Jack Move (1 hour): Turn Based RPG on a cyberpunk setting, nothing remarkable to say, but it seems solid enough.
-Sonzai (Genuinely no idea): Played it in the Next Fest before this one. Literally Persona 2d. You like Persona you should try this. The demo contains lots of dialogue and things to do so genuinely no idea how much a complete playthrough of it would last.
Souldiers (1 hour give or take): Quite solid metroidvania, the gameplay is tight
The Wandering Village (50 minutes): Quite cute Colony Builder with an unique spin, surprisingly punishing mechanics inside and easy to accidentally get your entire colony killed, still do reccomend for fans of the genre
Batora Lost Haven (1 hour): One of the biggest surprises of the Fest, Hack and Slash game plus Twin Stick shoter with quite high production values, the use of two color attacks, enemies and health bars incentivizes the player to vary their playstyle creating quite the interesting and deep gameplay, Would reccomend playing.
gotta say that albino's takes on games are always interesting
PART 2: Promising Demos but not totally convinced
The Machine That Breaths (40 minutes): Quite interesting horror pixel game, sadly despite the intriguing plot, the graphics seems quite stale and repetitive and the horror is not that good.
Shard of Chaos (2 hours, didn't finish because I decided to buy it on release): Visual Novel with horror segments. The Visual novel segments are in fact quite good and the dialogue and the overarching plot seem to be well written sadly the horror chunk of gameplay shown is bad you can't say almost anything and you have no clues in the screen about what actually do, if they fix that cool
The Serpent Rogue (40 minutes): RPG game in afantasy apocalypse, nothing wrong per se but I feel lots of games do the same but better
Farewell North (30 minutes): Indie game where you are a dog in scotland, seems your typical emotional adventure, but I feel it is hampered by the meh graphics and the awkward animations, altough you can see the soul behind it
Crimson Tactics: The Rise of The White Banner (1 hour): Game clearly Inpired by FF Tactics, not as good tho, try it if you want to try a clone of that game, but I felt it needs a bit of better of everything
Winter Ember (1 hour): NIce isometric Stealth game, the stealth and thieving a la Dishnored is nice but the combat is lacking and Janky
symphony of war the nephilim saga (Didn't finish, did 30 minutes): Fire Emblem Clone but where each unit represents a squad, the maps feel bad designed although the gameplay itself and the options of attacking with different bonuses and penalties are well done, the desingns of the named characters are meh.
PART 3: Meh Demos
The Last Oricru (Stopped 5 minutes in): Co-op centered third person action RPG, Horribly optimized it lagged on my computer so I stoppped playing it
Fragmented Memories (40 minutes): Meh Horror RPGMaker Game
CZAR Decision and Trascendence Legacy: Both also Meh RPGMaker games although not horror based.
Thanks mate
My turn
NEON WHITE - is a fast-paced card-based fps, which main focus on beating compact, short and yet interesting levels, its system and leaderboard pushes you to race against other people to shave off any second you have left. After you beat levels you are given ability to look around hub to explore the characters and give gifts you found for them. And outside of the main gameplay part, you have stylish looking game and its imagination of heaven, great soundtrack, interesting setting and amazing voice work. Awful written dialogue. So far, from what seen in demo the game tries to go for type of writing that feels like your stereotypical anime with western media references. It's bad and self-awareness is no where near to be seen. All of characters are so far just one personality archetype, that reference media and interesting choice of words, in blunt and not so clever way like: ||"anime sword"||, ||"simp"||, ||"You were like my Sasuke, man. Darkness to my light."|| and ||"JOHN CENA"||. Most of the problem comes from the two supporting characters, others are more manageable but still lack much personality so far.
Overall good demo, everything is amazing, except the dialogue writing, no sign of self-awareness, sadly.
The Wandering Village - is a cute, simple yet interesting town-management game about a village that is formed on top of big beast - whose named Onbu. You manage the villagers and make sure their production and lively hood is going well. Gather resources - Make new buildings - Research more and repeat. While making sure your village is doing well and so is Onbu. It's cute symbiotic relationship between the two. Onbu goes around the world, provides resources for the village to live on, while the village protects Onbu and feeds it. Love the mix of 3D with 2D. Fun town-building game, looking forward for more of it.
The Unliving - is a sadly for most, a rogue-lite, about playing as a Necromancer. The game is quite simple yet, fun, reminding of the usual minion/blob army style of gameplay. It as follows - kill living beings - once you killed a group of them you can raise them from the dead and add to the army - move that army to kill more people - use them to take the damage or use them to make damage by exploding them on sight. The game is simple in setting and generic at that, but it's fun none the less. To concur the game with your blob army taking on everyone, with you helping it out with spells and ranged attacks. Fun all the way to me especially since I will be lying I am not a fan of such kind of gameplay. I just love such silly design. Looking forward to full release.
Reefland - is a simple cute endless game, which focuses on you building the little villages on unpopulated islands. Each new building brings colour to the place as music soothes you in into the loop. From hex to hex, you must make a perfectly put place, using the advantage of every building as adding more buildings to another buildings that complement each other gives points, to which goes into the point pool which then gives you more building to place, up until you have gained enough points to move on to another island. Good fun, recommend checking out the demo at least.
Card Shark - Beautifully stylised game about your usual type of cards, poker cards to be precise. From jacks to queens to kings to aces, and all 4 types of houses. The whole most of the show is showcase and dialogue, the look of the game is stylised well alongside just great feeling of learning how to cheat playing cards. Since yes, this is what the game is about. Play your cards intentionally the wrong way so you get it right, to keep the ace up the sleeve. Although the gameplay itself relies on your memorisation and reflexes, still fun game to play. The dialogue is pleasantly put and enjoyable. Good demo.
I installed several demos but only ended up playing neon white and card shark
absolutely loved card shark, was really excited to see it had a demo and was not disappointed
neon white's fun to play and I was also looking forward to it since its announcement but yeah the dialogue is....not good and kinda took me out of it
it has Borderlands Syndrome where it tries to be goofy and is instead aggressively unfunny
which is a shame cause I like the character designs I was hoping it'd be more serious
I think best way to describe the dialogue is like it's fine if it was just on the spot friends making stuff up while voicing the game with a lot of dialogue and no voice acting. It's jarring in a sense that it feels completely out of place with how everything else. Not to say such stuff can't be silly but you need to balance that stuff.
Card Shark honestly amazed me with the dialogue. I didn't expect it to be that interesting.
||The fact how well reactive the main character is with just facial expressions is amazing. And I know he talks in the undead world but whatever. The gestures, the movement. Perfect. And everyone's banter is great too. All those posh people and the pretend game is thrilling and I think this is one of the games that got me right on the hook. And I can gush quite a lot about the gameplay part. It's intense and captivating. Pulling off the tricks on the card table is something. Learning how to cheat is amazing.||
Any tips for playing twin-stick shooters? I got Ruiner on my Switch and I look like a ballet dancer circling around my enemies hoping to luckily hit their hitboxes
Me with any shooter on console
On an FPS on the Switch, I mostly just crank the sens up for quick turnings and just use gyro aiming for the little adjustments to aim
Works fine on Borderlands 2, I donât really have aim problems there
Twin-stick shooters feels like a different beast altogether though
Trying to get that precise aim in Ruiner felt hard
Introducing Aperture Desk Job â a free playable short made for Valve's new Steam Deck, set in the universe of the modestly popular Portal games.
Desk Job reimagines the been-there-done-that genre of walking simulators and puts them in the lightning-spanked, endorphin-gorged world of sitting still behind things.
You play as an entry-level nobod...
Not gonna lie Dying Light The Following is kind disappointing
I enjoyed the base game more because the map was easy to traverse
Now it became a generic open world game
At least the buggy is cool
Yeah the fun of Dying Light is playing The floor is lava and going full parkour by the buildings
Does 2 keep that?
Dunno haven't played it
Is there a more streamlined/involved story in elden ring? I'm not a huge fan of super cryptic stories that make you go to YouTube to watch a lore video in order to decipher
Also ik the game is difficult, but since I've never played a soulsborne, is it difficult for the sake of being difficult in an unfair and frustrating way or is it more skill-based/justified
Have you played dark souls
No, never played one
I think Elden Ring is probably going to end up easier on the player than the other games for two reasons
Open world game structure means if something is too hard, you can go do other things, and the online is so much easier to finagle
Also there's a whole class of summonable creatures that adds a lot of depth and viability to a summoner playstyle
That first boss tho
Proper Steam Deck reviews are coming in, and itâs fairly up to most peopleâs standards bar the most wild ones. On average, most reviews are saying the Steam Deck has pretty amazing performance for the form factor, good ergonomics besides the weird look and weight, proper system settings to really dial in the graphics settings that you want out of it, and has a pretty good price point compared to itâs competitors, that comes in at the cost of mediocre battery life, a middling screen, high fan noise, and a so-so games compatibility at the moment
Itâs looking good, ngl. Not as good as the craziest hype train says it to be but I am still impressed nonetheless
Not very impressed at the battery life though, 2h at most running current titles is mediocre at best
interesting
I haven't been able to watch them yet but Gamers Nexus have 3 videos up about the steam deck.
Their in depth initial review, their tear down and their in depth review after a month of use
Ltt also has 2 videos reviewing it and a livestream teardown. However I don't trust ltt to go anywhere near as in depth as GN tend to
Both LTT and GN are the only reviewers who gets the chance to put their content up early iirc. Most other channels I think is stuck under embargo until today
I saw that GN does goes pretty in-depth though
I trust GN because they're incredibly rigerous with their testing methadology
You see this with their cpu, gpu and case reviews
And even their psu reviews more recently
Yeah, they seem to uphold their rep with their content on the Steam Deck, I think they are pretty trustworthy
With ltt, I enjoy their content but not fond of some of their takes.
Most notably the 3070ti and 3080ti but in saying this it's good to have something challange my own view points of a product and self evaluate why I don't think or think a product is worth it
This totally hypes me up to ... wait for Steam Deck 2.
Not a jab toward the Steam Deck, but I enjoy the perk of not being an early adopter. Waiting usually means a smoother experience.
I mean if u didnât reserve in the first hour youâre def not being an early adopter lol
Yeah, the most sensible reviews Iâve seen so far point towards getting the second revision of the Steam Deck as well
Def is up to my expectations
Looks like a good budget computer for the price
Which is what I want it for since I only have a Mac atm
I think the steam deck represents incredible value especially compared to other handheld devices in it's space (aya neo and others I can't name off the top of my head)
Which tend to cost 1k USD plus
Iâm also buying a switch from a roommate but I plan to sell that lol
If youâre keeping it plugged in for most of the time, it is definitely worth it I think
yeah, the value is quite great as a computing device
Comparing to a switch imo is quite disengenious to the steam deck and devices like the steam deck (not saying anyone here has done it, I expect many reviewers too though)
Yah i think switch and deck have different niches
im tempted to watch the Steam Deck trailer and list all the games Valve deemed worthy to show footage on it
Prolly big names like control hades tale of arise
They got the OG Ni No Kuni to show how older games are supported on the system, they got Hades for that GOTY spot and they also got Control for their hardware demanding title lol
The fact that they showed Control running natively on it compared to how the Switch runs Control from the cloud is pretty crazy at the time. The Switch isnât really suited for these demanding titles, and it was probably never meant to be, which really brings home what the Steam Deck is all about compared to the Switch, and tbh, I really do want to try Control on a handheld lol
Album: https://imgur.com/a/fYbx7oQ
Does anyone know what those games are?
Other than that, here are the ones I can recognize:

INSIDE
Danganronpa 2
Yu Gi Oh Master Duel
"deemed worthy by valve" lol
xD
it's funny cause TABS is in there
honestly a lot of those games are indie
which makes sense for a handheld system
and are awesome additions in general
Just realized the list doesnât have Disco Elysium, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Ni No Kuni 1 and Doom Eternal, the games that was previewed in the earlier stage of the Steam Deck announcement
I mean, if it can run Ni No Kuni 2, it can most definitely run Ni No Kuni 1
Jedi Fallen Order is abhorrent on PC
It stutters like crazy
I wouldnt be surprised if it cant run it.
it's real funny, cause in my whole play time with it, I've only ran to few bugs and no stuttering issues.
maybe cause I pirated it
ill add those to the list and ill update later. those are from an earlier video right?
I had an RX 580 8GB and Ryzen 7 2700
Idk what was wrong
But the optimization is like really bad
Maybe they fixed it who knows
Prob, maybe, could've
Yeah, it was from the initial announcement video, the first one
When I upgrade from my Macintosh 84, I shall play Elden Ring.
Gonna be honest from what I hear the pc port of elden ring is poorly optimized so I would wait. Though if you plan to get it on console from my experience on console itâs fine no stutters or fps drops
imagine elden ring
You couldnât even begin to imagine it
Wait, wasn't that a line from the traile-
Tbh, it could also be the anticheat that's tanking performance
We've seen this happen with RE: Village where a cracked copy performed better than an official copy
My knowledge on computers are very limited so I wouldnât know
THAT WHICH COMMANDED THE STARS!
you know how sometimes games just have a really brilliant moment?
Back 4 Blood Bar Room Blizt is perhaps one of the most fun experience I've had yet.
The rest of the game is okay. But that stage is simple yet brilliant.
Just wanna pop in real quick to tell that I recently got a sub 20 minutes run on Slay the Spire and Iâm feeling so proud of myself. Silent Shiv spam

Elden Ring question for when I get the game: for weapons that scale with both str and dex if Iâm high in both does it do more damage than if I was just high in one or the other?
If my maths is correct, thatâs like a $10 mark up or something
On the other hand, the same game on Xbox (which I don't have) and PS4 (which I don't play on) is at 10âŹ
soooo the pokemon news today
These were surely some news
||The bait and switch at the end was something. Folks I have watched with, we totally expected it to be Detective Pikachu 2 lol||
What happened
Well looks like we got a new Pokemon game...How surprising
||the titles for the new games look atrocious||
||its like they pulled in someone whos new to graphic design to do them||
from what i've seen of that trailer it's just gonna be sword & shield 2.0 huh
Just looks fanmade
i haven't been excited for a pokemon game in years and this one doesn't change that
literally
That's like Zelda title guessing levels of bad
The Legend of Zelda: X of (the) X
I mean those are designed alright compared to that
Also by 2040 they will run out of colours or things to name their games
honestly i've only seen the titles and starters and i can't help but feel like my doomsday predictions were right
I like the duck mon though :)
they did it they finally learned to texture pokemon
That looks unironically worse than the previous gens and that speaks a lot for itself
sprigatito is the best name of any pokemon ever made
i dont like being anal over graphics because ultimately i dont care about subpar graphics if the game itself is a solid product otherwise but like. this is game freak/pokemon company. pokemon is literally the highest grossing ip in the world. theres no excuse for them doing bare minimum đ
Thats how they stay the highest grossing like jokes aside. they cut costs and get the same returns as if they put in more money
I don't blame em
yeah i mean at the end of the day they are a business and do what businesses do to make profit
still gonna call it out
Oh I don't think theres anything wrong with calling it otu
I just think the "they have so much money so why don't they spend it making better looking games" is a silly argument because they specifically have a lot of money because they dont lol
wasnt really a position from an argument perspective so much as highlighting how absurd the entire situation is
There was even a theory that BDSP launched half done not because they didn't have time, but because they wanted to use a smaller memory switch cart to save costs
also nintendo switch
yes guys we get it big corporations do things because they are a corporation and are out to make profit
we established this
also wtf is their icon logo thing
that's like learning to use WordArt on MS Word type stuff
Fire starter is literally just :D
i saw the starters on tumblr before seeing the game announcement and i just assumed they were fanmade
I sent the starters pic and the titles to my friend groupchat and one of them asked if it was a romhack
they're all just cutesy in a way that's not actually appealing
They have this early gen vibe
honestly theres fanmade games that are more like traditional pokemon than pokemon itself at this point
Croc just has no thoughts, head empty energy
smt is really just cruel huh. i go to fight a required enemy and it decides to permanantly completely protect itself from all damage
the FE hacking community has evolved past the need for conventional numbers
https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/754175190203629598/947564542941093968/unknown-219.jpg
Finally got around to getting portal
they should name it Pokemon Vi and Pokemon Jinx
are we really going to dunk on their choice of names when theyve literally been naming games after colours since the beginning
the entire thing is cheesy lol
well colours and minerals i suppose if you want to be technical. and then theres swsh
nah i want to dunk on that title design, the name is true to tradition, but that title o.o
yeah thats genuinely bad
like they forgot they needed a logo and slapped it on 10 minutes before broadcast
yeah
cant they at least do different colors other then
dark red and red blue
gestures at fire red and leaf green
like sure they were remakes of red and green but. cmon.
i mean fair
the jp ones have always looked nicer
Honestly I'm more excited about this one than I was about Arceus
As long as I can still bean Pokemon in the back of the head with a lead ball I'll consider us square lol
The æ is twisted a weird way in violet and it's unsettling me lol
The logos have no synergy within and no synergy with each other either. Like there is no part there that makes me thing âah yes two pokemon gamesâ thatâs just letters with honestly some meh colors
same with the ă€
Oh I just watched the trailer and hating on the grafics is more than fair imo⊠like wow thatâs bad, and those are the good portions of the game since this is a trailerâŠ
please dont evade the swear filter, thank you!
Depends on the scaling but regardless the damage you will deal is fine. If you meet the requirements
I took a peek at the logo and I guess the reason it just doesnât look great is how different it looks like compared to the âPokĂ©monâ font and size
Scarlet and Violet looks fine to me but underneath the PokĂ©mon logo, it looks like it doesnât belong, yeah?
It's not a great logo
I do think its funny to see pokemon fans pop off over stuff like textures though
Dont get me wrong its cool to see but its such a standard thing for almost every other studio
they aren't even good textures either đ
Cant get into Pokemon games anymore

Gabe was so excited about shipping Steam Deck he asked if he could hand-deliver a few.
Learn more about Steam Deck and reserve yours at http://steamdeck.com
Ah, this is the Alice game sequel lead by American McGee, yeah? I only heard about the old game, but never really played it
Yoo the steam deck released
It seems to run some stuff pretty well
it runs Elden Ring decently
Some games arent compatible but Im sure they are working on it
Finally a Valve hardware that didn't flop
Yeah, all in all itâs kinda fine. Battery life is ehh but itâs expected, Iâm not surprised at all
Btw, Tiny Tinaâs Wonderlands is on early access now and some people are already uploading âfirst-looksâ of it. Looks fun
I donât really cared for the humor but looter shooters are inherently fun just for the loot hunting
i've been play disco elysium for a few hours now and i generally like it a lot but i feel like it could do with some dialogue pruning. there's just a lot of it.
is the dialogue decent?
i've seen people make jokes about the dialogue
also, started monster prom. it's a game!
Wait what? Early access for a AAA game?
God I'm excited but I got no money for it
Seems like an early access. The content creator that posted it said it was an âearly lookâ. Iâm⊠too lazy to check
I see
its very well written imo, but there are over a million words in the game. its a lot of reading. luckily almost every bit of writing is voiced now and the voice acting is also very good
thanks for letting me know! it's sitting in my library waiting to be played
Hey! https://t.co/wFxqANjbOY is calling for games for #Ukraine charity bundle. Submit until 4 of March. #ttrpg designers, please participate. #ttrpgsolidarity #ttrpgfamily
https://t.co/BYfWv9Kxo6
CrossCode bought, Slay the Spire failed to buy :/
the dialogue is great. very very funny but serious when it needs to be. but it really is you have to be ready to basically sit down and read a choose your own adventure book.
Tbh, I feel sad not having played DE with Voice acting for the first time
The full game VA enhances the experience so much is not even funny
the voice acting is super good
I plan to get it specifically for the mention of a certain set of ideals I believe in đ
I loved disco elysium when I played it before the final cut added full vo and it's even better now
oh? DE has vo now?
ngl, the reason why I don't get it is because of the amount of reading
my mind can wander so much
that's where i'm at. so i just usually play it in small chunks
that is a totally reasonable way to play
TBH, I played the game in short bursts
When I realise that I'm getting tired of reading which makes me simply not proccess all the info that is being shown to me, I stopped
How does humble choice work? If I "rejoin" do I get ALL of these games? https://www.humblebundle.com/membership/home#choice-masseffectlegendaryedition
the last thing i heard about the VAing is that... some podcasters were involved but i always forget their name
IIRC there are "tiers" of the subscription, each of which allow you to choose a certain number of games from the list to keep
Oh, they must have changed it due to that being a really stupid system. I logged in with my old account and you get all the games for the flat rate now
Not gonna lie the new choice is kinda good
Mass Effect, Desperados, Police Stories, that dead Nick smash clone, Man of Medan
Maybe that dead Nick Smash clone can take advantage of Smash dropping out of Evo
There's a f2p Warner bros smash clone
with some grear character design
idk when it releases
and if it will be p2w
Disco Elysium has definitely gotten better with the addition of voice acting
the quality of the VA's is really good
They got all replaced iirc when the new VA drop. At least all the main roles
Grand turismo 7 is releasing on the 4th
I wish I had a PS đ
This game literally blows Forza out of the water
https://www.humblebundle.com/games/humble-heroines? this bundle looks pretty frickin good
scarlet nexus, bloodstained, severed steel, cloudpunk, celeste are all games ive had my eye on for a while
Tacoma Tacoma Tacoma Tacoma (very very very good play it) (Celeste and Cloudpunk too)
Tacoma is super heartwarming
Wtf finally a good bundle???
Not gonna lie if no one wants Gears 5 I'd love to have it
oo ok how good is Tacoma compared to gone home
I haven't played Gone Home, but Tacoma is one of my favorite games, very focused on its characters and their interactions (plus your usual smol adventure stuff)
EGS stored just has an update, and the library somehow lost functionality xD
back then you can quickly tell which game you have installed and which you don't by the color (not installed games are mono chromatic), now everything looks the same
also your settings don't save between log ins
so if you want to filter some games (which is already limited), the next time you log in the filter is lost
although, is it petty to criticize them despite not paying them a single cent for the free games?
no, because you should expect some basic functionality from a storefront
being bribed with free games doesnt make them immune to interface criticism
true.
Ok, I know putting Female protagonist on Scarlet Nexus is technically true, but I have yet to do her route lmao
just started celeste as my first platformer, finished chapter one 171 deaths đ
finally done with the whole dark souls trilogy
heard elden ring was pretty okay maybe I'll get it soon
Try running it first hehe
the specs are unreasonably high for a 2007 engine
I'm going to grab it when it gets patched
yeah that was the plan
it's a race to see whether elden ring gets patched or deathloop goes on sale first
death loop is 50% off on humble rn
Well, we know who won the race then
okay. playing more monster prom. love the characters, the dialogue is... well...
Yeah Monster Prom got a certain dialogue type.
Vulgar and oozing with certain style.
if by "style" you mean "2015 tumblr text post-esque"
for me, it's not so much, 'why did an adult write the dialogue like this?' it's, 'how did an adult write this?'
Probably! Been a while since I played it but I remember it made me cringe ever so often with certain wording. I will say at least it's no Monster Prom 2, which gets way too far for enjoyable time, for me at least.
the dialogue in the second game is worse, imo, because there's more of it. so more cringe
Best way to put it I think is that it tries to chase the youthful feeling of the high school setting while being over the top and somehow also adding onto that, plus lacking ability to self limit. And just plucking with whatever trend was at the time of writing it.
So it's fast to get messy.
yeah. the anti-sjw character is very that
whenever he talks i'm instantly transported to 2014-2016
Oh yeah that character. I forgot about him. He is definitely the "I am authors' critic of certain people in that time frame". Absolutely get the reasoning, but the execution is poor, even by game's own standards. I only really recall most of his dialogue being wordy with not substances. No humour alongside it. Just dry text.
yeah. I appreciate the author not spelling out how the character isn't a good person, because the character's dialogue sufficiently does that, but the dialogue is still pretty flat
It's to point as if you are just talking to anti-sjw person back in the times when it was a common problem running into these type. But there is no real control over it for you. Just viewing it unfold. Game surely could have handled it better.
it has modeus from helltaker it's a 10/10 for me
this thing's next evolution is a green neco arc
I have no idea what I was expecting, but that was hillarious
Not despacito
The red dead 2 engine is a heavily upgraded version of a rockstar table tennis game, just because its the same engine doesnt mean its gonna look crap or require low specs

While waiting for it to get patched Lol I played Shadow Warrior 3
Whether you can run Elden Ring or not seems pretty all over the place
I'm handling it fine outside some stuttering in a couple areas and I'm just under recommended
But people way over can't even start it
Shadow warrior is fast paced fun like Hades
Yh stutters are slightly annoying even a few times.
Best to wait for large open world games to get their patches after launch day
Oh the gameplay is the best part, it is fun and satisfactory. The flaws are mostly the bit repetitive environments, the style that the cutscenes are framed and the fact you need two playthroughs to get the 100% of the full picture (It's a long game).
I hope game developers will learn that open world games arent boring when you can traverse the world in a fun way
isn't scarlet nexus the one that makes you watch an anime to make the story make sense
i have been playing a lot of smt and i have never realised how much i yearned for a difficult turn-based game until now ngl
how do people rate haven? how does it compare to the typical turn based jrpg
Haven is a great game. The combat simple leans into been maybe quite too simple. But the story portions are quite good and they help to set the "Slice of life" tone
Nah, you understand the plot perfectly without the anime. There was a bizarre set of sidequests where you had to find a password in the anime to get goodies. Dunno the specifics as I didn't bother with that
Maybe that's what you are referring to
o ok nice after the latest update i might get it then
i love in fear for how they're gonna butcher de
welp you don't have to really worry about LiS because that ship is far gone.
game jumped the shark after season 1.
so the amazon adaptation won't make it much worse. I'll still watch it but keep my expectations low as possible.
I still need to play LiS 2... I really liked the first one (crazy opinion!!) apart from the ending where ||it's just your usually 'deep' choice that doesn't really make sense and is just there for drama||
I fear for Disco Elysium
yall that doesn't mean they're actually making one
the studio mentioned disco elysium like one time
I can't vouch for the new voice acting because I have yet to try it, tho
the voice acting is very good
especially the skills and narration
oh wait nvm i'm dumb
lol
I'm talking about Haven
...Where's the article from?
yeah mb
anyways i'd be very very very very surprised if anything comes of the rumor about a disco elysium show
Kortenauer specially
especially from amazon
Glad they replaced his voice
Does anyone have good recommendations for story driven psychological Horror games?
DE will probably just get butchered, but LiS would totally make for a good tv show I think
have we discussed how bandcamp has been bought out by epic games
not sure if I should post here or in music
i'll try #music
it has some very good lines
i dont know how to describe the writing in this
but it's really damn entertaining
the mirror part is poetic
congratulations on not dying on the first check!
wait what
đ
ohhh that's because i didn't stick out my hand like a stupid man in the fan blades?
I spent 10 minutes investigating a car
and using the radio
Yes I did have it
I love how stuff is getting revealed to me
But I ended my playthrough after all the car investigation thing since I have a schedle
when you miss the check you get a heart attack lmao and if your hp is low enough you die as a result
there is a demo for the new kirby if anyone wanna check it out
Car inhaling itensiifies
Soma is p good for that
lost in vivo is pretty good from what I've seen
naturally silent hill 1-4 if you can get your hands on em
note: avoid the silent hill HD collection, it's terrible

just chatting about how much dialogue is in it
just market it as a visual novel!
a world where visual novels are actual novels
okay so
I want you guys to watch this without looking at the comments and all
just want to hear some thoughts :>
What? Like really What?
This has like as many plot twists as Inception and as many unfinnished story lines as BBC Sherlock, i am in a way impressed
I thought the kid killed the other kid because they upset the Komodo Dragon at one point, and then why is the ring repaired at the end? What was that whole beginning for?
(Fyi I know nothing of Elden Ring, only that itâs supposed to be good)
r/unexpected
lmao
The Tarnished is going to be 2022 meme material
Quick! Act surprised
60 year dollar game with GaaS, budget looking graphics and zero marketing BBS hard
...did they seriously think that was going to be a success?
man full price game but you still have to buy premium currencies
Literally the same situation as Anthem but with worse graphics
SE president is harming the company more than he helps
FF is basically Atlas holding Square Enix on their shoulders
from what I've seen/read, the battle pass is only for cosmetics and emotes
still takes away the satisfaction of unlocking a certain head gear I want
which you should get in a full price game without extra cost
That's what they get for not signing with Konami for a MGR too đ€
(Apparently Konami is returning to games)
sincerely screw any game that does this, like genuinely [redacted impassioned swearing]
no full price game should have freemium aspects like premium currencies, end of
Well, if there is no actual way to grind it for free without spending extra for the microtransactions, then, yeah, it is sacrilege
no I don't want to see any kind of full price game with such things period
"grind it for free" lmaooo
a game with such a system in the first place is already built around enticing the player to give in to purchasing them eventually
that's always the goal
so no, i don't want to see it at all
Well, depends on where the money goes into, Iâd say they still have a place in the gaming industry today. If the money goes to make the game more expansive (not just making it better), then I say itâs good money spent
If itâs only going to the pockets of the stockholders with no intent of pouring it back into the game itself, then, yeah, I agree with you
Itâs like the Hearthstone of 2015, where it has gotten so expensive to play, while the other Blizz games are somewhat tame in their business models
The money isnât flowing back into the game itself
these companies are making such massive profits just from selling a game for $60 what on earth would cause them to need more
these aren't poor indie developers struggling to get by
An incomplete game at $60 and they're asking players to pay more? That's a NOPE for me
also i think dlc is a plague. when a game is sent out it should be finished. it is $60 there should not be another $40 to add another character or a whole storyline. a complete game should be a complete game.
Already fell for it with FFXV, not gonna happen again
i think dlc done right can be good
xcom: enemy within and xcom 2's dlc (and war of the chosen) are the peak examples imo
bad dlc is whatever atlus is doing
peak dlc is tiny tina's assault on dragonkeep for borderlands 2
yeah dlc that like. acts on issues within the base game the playerbase has while also adding new things is good. expansion dlcs tend to be more high quality than additional things.
i mean the main issue with dlcs is they all cost at least twice what they should for what they are. i'd be far more forgiving of dlc if it wasn't always so expensive for a handful of good things.
dying light the following is an ok dlc in theory even though it was pure crap on a game design standpoint
like it offered lots of content
that's also a good one
the only good non-tales borderlands content
im hoping wonderlands delivers on that
since it looks closer to borderlands 2
and it has melee weapons
and magic
and we know how creative these guys can get
genuinely where do you think money from premium currencies go to, why do you think company shareholders want to see increased profits year after year. that extra money from premium currency goes to people investing in the company, not people making the games
microtransactions have been a plague to gaming ever since people at the top figured out you could make more money for less effort. even people working for top triple a companies in the industry have reported still having to live from paycheck to paycheck
if those people are getting any of that money funneled back to their teams in any meaningful capacity they shouldn't be living like that, for where they work
because that money doesn't go to them or their team, it goes to executives and shareholders
i think you want to give the benefit of the doubt for these systems but like. it's not how they work.
idk babs said it best. these aren't poor indie devs struggling to get by. i feel like defending these practices on any level, esp when done by triple a publishers, only further normalizes them, further makes it acceptable to expect unnecessary monetization in a full price game published by some of the most profitable companies in the industry, just in case a single cent of it makes it back to the devs that actually worked on the game
Spoken like a true gamer of culture and a customer with rights
Respect 100
Yeah, like, trying to blanket all of these companies under one umbrella and casting them all off as one and the same is pretty unfair to the ones that did things differently. When we only see the bad sides of one thing, then weâll only see the bad side of it and weâll lose sight of the good sides of it
I really refuse to just look at the industry and just think itâs all bad and nothing is salvageable out of it
the ones that "did things differently" are often not the triple a companies at the top, which i specifically pointed out in my derision đ€·
the companies that are most profitable are oft the ones that seek to profit off every avenue they can, because that is why they are the most profitable
imo a 60 dollar game shouldn't have any additional paid stuff, at all
also an important thing to consider here is the industry treats game devs like garbage as it is, that's why they still have to fight for benefits even today
glances at animal crossing
anyone played fire emblem on visual boy advance and can help me with something?
especially when that wasnt normally in the series to begin with and they did a bunch of updates that was content that was already in the base game in older entries
bruh new leaf was a lower price and it had more content than new horizons did at the start. new horizons was such a waste of money.
i burnt out of new horizons fast while I played new leaf for 639 hours
but in general I don't think the series is my thing anymore, the appeal was more towards the villagers and stuff then "having the prettiest island and posting it on social media" like it seems to be nowadays
like at first I thought I was going to get into the customization aspect but I ended up feeling uninspired and not doing anything related to that because I didn't think I could make it look good or follow a theme and the game doesn't really have much to offer besides that, so I got bored of my villagers in a few months
anyone remember that dead island is still in development
I played some but forgot most of the process
do you remember the controls, like choosing stuff in the inventory so I can give Seth a vulnerary at least?
you might not get a prep screen until a few chapters in
but anything basic should be doable with A, B and the arrows
when I click the down or up arrow it sends me to erikas inventory screen rather than selecting stuff in the inventory with seth
yeah the up arrow sends me to erikas screen
the down arrow sends me back to seths
Press A?
does nothing.
hmm I can't remember much beyond that
Eirika should have convoy access so I guess you can use her to get stuff and then trade to Seth on the field
hmm ok I'll try that instead
so just press a to do that instead then
yeah after you move her there should be a convoy option
unless you haven't gotten the convoy (Hayden gives it to you iirc)
oh im on the first chapter đ
im trying to heal him on the very first turn bc he took damage in that cutscene
dont want him to die this early thats just bad
oh yeah you won't get the inventory management menu after a while
then the only way is to trade on the field
move them next to each other and select trade or something
ok i'll try that
alright how do I exit the inventory
B
the beauty of GBA and before is that there are so few buttons you just try pressing them all
k
would it give it to him to heal on the first turn then? because he already has 3 vulneries in his inventory
trading here doesnt really make a difference so idk what to do since I still can't really select which inventory items I want to select
like the vulnerarys selected but its pointless if I can't select it while in the inventory
thanks anyway
damn dying light 2 hasn't been cracked yet
i'm very curious about it but im trying to save for wonderlands so rip
Regarding Dying Light 2; I know a lot of people have been experiencing issues but that has not been the case for me. The only issues I have had have been a few minor graphical glitches that have had no impact on the game at all.
It also performs extremely well for me. I get 130+ FPS at 1440p.
The parkour and combat are very fun and I find the story entertaining.
how does it compare to the first game?
did they make it too rpg-ey?
what about map layout
I really enjoyed DL1. I completed it about five times. It's one of my top 5 games. Considering it has had six years of continued development with lots of events and also some free content and some paid content.
I think DL2 is about just as good as the first. Of course it doesn't quite have the amount of polish that the first game has but Techland has promised at least 5 years of continued support so it should turn out better than the DL1.
The world layout is great for parkour and I think the combat is better than the first game. There are also parkour and combat challenges that you can compete for medals. Bronze, silver, gold depending on how quickly you finish the challenge.
There are areas to explore only at night. Some are inside building that require stealth.
The paraglider is just ok but the grappling hook is fun to use. You can use it sort of like how Spiderman slings his web.
There are too many things to list about DL2. I have a lot of fun playing it.
"Areas to explore only at night"
Uh oh...
Bruh, if I see that message, I bolt immediately
"Some are inside building that require stealth."
is it the insta fail stealth or "uh oh you found me" loads gun stealth?
Is it true DL2 has almost no guns?
Also: scripted stealth and what I call 'random' stealth
God, I can never do stealth games, and definitely not stealth horror games
I prefer other forms of horror media, and even then, I'm super picky of just what kind of horror I want to see
I donât like horror movies, and translates to horror games as well
I remembered playing Doom 3 last year, wasnât really a hardcore horror game I guess but I still feel tense every step of the way, it was nerve wrecking
I like both. I even consider to marathon stephen king movies.
I tend to enjoy psychological horror more than any other subgenre of horror
So things like fatal frame, silent hill (1 - 4) etc. I love watching and would love to play if I can get my hands on them
I quit in the first half hour of bioshock because it was too scary
I almost quit bioshock cause the autosave was a bit wonky
I'm about to dive into Gears Tactics
hmm the story makes little sense without knowing much about the franchise
they just throw random plot points and characters at you
the gameplay is solid so far though
I do remember BioShock's first few levels being a lot better crafted with horror elements in mind. That said..
You should have stayed till Fort Frolic

what's this?
elden ring is not very good game.
what's wrong?
bad lock on system and also key binding (or lack thereof).
Yeah, I'm waiting for stable mods to come out
Inb4 someone recreates skyrim 1:1 in elden ring
Not defending the bad lock on system but I think that has been an issue for most of the franchise.
Hell it might be considered a feature at this point.
i played the witcher 3 without lock on so is it really that bad?
That's impressive lol
Though W3 combat roll/dodge makes the lock on less of a necessity.
yup
also i played on like medium or whatever but i just used the shield spell and roll and dodge
it's really not that hard
From my Bloodborne experience, I kinda need lock on to parry, and switching target can be a pain.
oh right this reminds me
i played metal gear rising without lock on too
đ
i literally realised lock on exists in that game when i played the jetstream sam dlc
im super excited for it!! although it will probably take a like a year from release to come to steam and get translated to english :( so sad
if anyone was interested by that trailer btw (or just likes horror visual novels) the first two games in the series, death mark and NG, are going for just 6 dollars rn on fanatical's anime bundle, theyre usually much more expensive and theyre really cool games
https://www.fanatical.com/en/pick-and-mix/build-your-own-anime-bundle-4
Ditto. VIsual horror/torture porn is not my deal.
Oddly enough, I do enjoy ultraviolence, but only over-the-top and when done stylishly
see: No More Heroes, Metal Gear Rising
I can recommend Four games of that bundle
Cosmic Star Heroine, Ara Fell, Synergia and Spirit Hunter: NG
The rest I haven't play them so no opinion
Thanks for the link btw
You mean stylised ultraviolence
Gears Tactics doesn't scratch the XCOM itch for me :(
I guess it's time to replay XCOM 2 again
Have you played or heard of Troubleshooter, Othercide, Phoenix Point or Mutant Year Zero?
Maybe those scratch your XCOM need
im trying Phoenix Point and Mutant Year Zero next
my problem with with Gears Tactics is that it's not a rougelite, as in, the stages follows a story so it's predictable
the new switch online feature makes me laugh so much i'm just imagining nintendo going 'please give us more money.... you can set your pfp to be this ugly rabbid-lookin dude... please'
oh?

yay this game is out! :D i loved submerged so much im excited to play it
Boat, climb, solve and explore in the beautiful ruins of a sunken world.A drowned city, crumbling tips of skyscrapers stubbornly standing above the waves. Deserted villages, now inhabited by enigmatic creatures. And beneath the surging ocean waits an anguished, angry presence.Submerged: Hidden Depths is a non-combat third-person ârelaxplorationâ...

i have a lot of games on my plate now though so maybe i shouldnt buy it immediately but... i want to play it so bad D:
i was sold when they said the words "dinosaur forecast"
how did they make a new dino crisis that's not dino crisis with a character that literally looks like regina dino crisis
unbelievable
So I just looked at the next upcoming free game on EGS and it's "In Sound Mind" which release about 5 months ago. That's interesting, another game that seems to be released so recent yet going for free not even a half year after.
jesus chirst how many DLCs does City Skyline have?
at this point I think they are selling DLCs instead of games
Elden Ring good
Paradox moment.
These guys make more money from the DLC than the actual games
Oh I remember the og game although never played it. I'll likely gonna pick it up on sale
but i have fun playing with them
can't break up with them bc they aren't online for a few days
T.T
I'm done with deemo 2 until they update the story.
Left feedback in their official discord that it'd be nice if we could fulfill dailies by playing event charts
Rayark's "solution"? Add a line to said dailies saying "Events don't count"
fr? I really liked dead cells, but this game's trailer reminded me more of hollow knight over the other two you pointed out. Interesting aesthetic, will probably buy it day 1
playing the demo for triangle story and the voice acting is baaaad
It's important that everyone remembers how Dynasty Warriors 3 defined "epic" in the truest sense of the word. It doesn't get better than this.
I once put together a compilation of funny voice acting from Dynasty Warriors 3, but as amusing as it was, I never liked how it turned out. Plus Destructoid has it, and I'm not there anymore.
So it is t...
as bad?
not quite that bad
also the amount of cut scenes + tutorial in the beginning of the game is so unpleasant
you get to the first battle after many cut scenes and it's just bloated with tutorial and bad repartee
not the dynasty warriors drag đ
Me: I want to play Mortal Kombat
My wallet: laughs evilly
ahh how i miss "cow cow"
Has anyone here played Undertale
I was promised a masterclass in the art of great games
Seems like a more of a revelation in the science of overrated media
Then again I only have about 2hrs played
A quick Google search suggests that's about a third of the game
But it doesn't seem like much would change
i enjoyed undertale for the characters, personality and humor. it would probably be a lesser experience if i was led to believe that it's some masterpiece. but just stumbling into it without expectations turned out really nice
Undertale isnât really a polished perfection, rather itâs a JRPG-esque with interesting designs
Also, life stories
It feels like it doesn't benefit from being a game
Such that I might get the same experience from watching a playthrough rather than playing the game
i loved undertale honestly
it was such a genuine heartfelt game
but i tried to go into it not expecting much at all tbh
and i think that made the experience better
it's been quite awhile since I've played it but i really enjoyed it when i did
this is probably the single weirdest thing someone could say about undertale lol

The Android port of Dicey Dungeons is finally showing signs of life: https://www.droidgamers.com/2022/02/11/terry-cavanaghs-dicey-dungeons-in-open-beta-on-android/
At the risk of showing my bias, it seems like you might have had a...less than optimistic outlook on the game before you started playing it.
As someone who thinks Undertale is a very good game and a very, very important one in the history of indie development, it does seem like a game that's impossible to get the full effect of now that the internet has hyped it up so much
imo Undertale's appeal can be better understood by describing the game as a walking simulator with RPG elements more than as a typical RPG. At the risk of spoiling, it's a genre deconstruction with good writing and a lot to say hidden behind a cutesy cartoon RPG.
Also, the bulk of what people are gushing about when they hype Undertale on the internet is in the last act of the game, but luckily the structure of Undertale does make its short length make more sense once you get to the end of the game.
Very insightful
I suppose if I had no knowledge of it's grand position imposed by fanatics the outcome of my experience might have differed
I'll finish the game and hope for the best at least for its scholastic benefits (ludologically speaking) if nothing else
P5R, yes. Ghost is a great turn off your brain game. FFXV is another turn off your brain game but I don't really recommend.
I was playing ff xv for the story but it's hard to play consistently since so many plot points are in the movie, TV show, and dlcs
yeah of all games that one should really have a mobile port
honestly I couldn't make sense of the movie's plot
at all
yes, I watched it in theatre
almost fell asleep
You watched in theaters đđthat must've been rough to sit through
rough is an understatement
Think I might switch to ff vii remake for now then
FFXV I enjoyed it more as a bromance game than as a FF plot
this is actually true to some extent, i think. but what made me a fan of undertale was its story and the characters, which i grew to be invested in: as such, the story twists had more impact for me because i was the one experiencing them firsthand
playing it without any expectations or prior knowledge of it does get you the best experienceâŠitâs something i didnât get to do since i played it back in 2015 when the hype was high
i don't think you need no experience/prior knowledge in order to enjoy it. i went in when it first came out, when tumblr was exploding with it, when you couldn't look at any corner of the internet without seeing it. i actually only ended up playing because one of my friends would just not leave me alone about it and she was sang its praises to the stars, and i'm like fiiiiine i'll play this super good game whatever.
and then i did really enjoy it. i think it's delightful. it has its problems, yeah, in that it kind of has an idea of how you should play and if you don't play it that way that game is like hey, that's the wrong way to play. if you're not used to bullet hell it's a pretty steep learning curve.
but i think saying "it'd only be good if other people hadn't said was good" is a disservice to the game
thatâs how i got to playing it too! loved it, even though it was new gameplay experience
itâs why deltarune got me so excited
Just hit the Platinum in Elden Ring
ol faithful archer trap never fails me
I can have my life back now
owo
what are the grindiest parts of this?
Honestly no real grind to it
It's all stuff you'd be doing normally
Unlike DS2
Which asks you to beat the game without dying or resting at a bonfire
Some of the optional bosses are real tough though
ahh nice
It's not that it would only be good without any prior knowledge of the "hype". The issue is that a possibly decent game has been enveloped by a facade of grandeur and brilliance that few games could live up to. So going in expectations untempered and eager to experience a masterpiece, you could say I was disappointed by the apparent lack thereof. An experience as such would certainly hamper my enjoyment of the game
You can't really attribute fault to the game for that but nothing exists in a vacuum especially when pertaining to the humanities. Everything has to be considered such is the natural consequence for existing
It's is as it is
hype as a thing is nothing but terrible tbh, all it does is cause disappointment. it's why everything huge, movie or game or whatever, always seems to fall short, because often the expectations are legitimately impossible to reach. even if something by itself is good, people will feel it's bad because they expected better, even if they can't even picture how it could be better while still being. itself.
the worst part is that neither the game or the person is at fault, so they both lose while the ones who created the hype aren't even affected. it sucks.
Unless the game actually meets the expectations, I guess
depends on the game and the level of hype. for instance, i dont think half-life 3 could ever live up to the expectations people have put onto it over the years. it is something of a near mythical status, and while i personally dont believe it'll ever release to begin with, if it did there would inevitably be people disappointed it didnt give them the experience they imagined it would. theres others like kh3 i guess? that are more of a middling ground, a lot of people were satisfied with the product they got, and a lot of people felt it didnt meet the high expectations they had for it
Ok who in here remembers the game Skylanders?? Specifically the Skylanders Giants? Anyone in here? It was literally my childhood oh my god.
i didnt have giants iirc i had trap team but i did play giants
at my friends house a while back
Sky landers: Giants is one of the best games I have ever played. The entire series was core to my childhood.
I only had the series up to Swap Force. I didnât find swap force that enjoyable and stopped playing after that. I loved Giants though. Iâd rock pretty much oh man everyone on that game, we had them all basically
Agreed! It was the same thing for me too.
My brother would always be crusher kicking ass, and Iâd be just a support unit like Trigger Happy or something.
I loved Chop Chop/Erupter. Those are my favorite characters.
I mained Eyebrawl and Chop-Chop.
Was Eyebrawl the undead giant? I liked him.
I also liked Shroom Boom. He was fun to play with.
Eyebrawl was the Undead giant. Iâve mained Undead and Tech for most of the series.
I bounced around all the elements tbh.
I played with whoever.
We had all the Giants except the magic one.
God who else was good in the giants one. Oh Prism Break was cool if you uograded his abilities, so was Gill Grunt, Hot Dog, etc.
The only bad Skylander I can think of is Double Trouble.
Sonic boom wasnât great, I think
I liked Double Trouble. He wasnât great in close quarters, but he still had good attacks. I donât even remember Sonic Boom. Jet-Vac and all of the dragons (except for Spyro) were also pretty great.
The Wind was the worst element in Skylanders Giants. The best was probably oh man Tech/Life/Fire.
Jet Vac was the only good one in the Wind element
Terrafin was goated
Personally Tech, Magic, Undead, and Fire were my favorite elements.
I agree with everyone but magic, like it was ok not great.
As far as the Giants specific game goes you had Pop Fizz and Spiral as the best ones in that element
Wrecking Ball was fine
Voodoos, though
Whoâs that?
What game was he in?
Omg I just looked it up and I do remember him
He was good, although I didnât use him that much.
Camo was godly
So was Igniter
The first game, Spyroâs Adventure.
I lowkey didnât mind Bash
Yeah I just had to look it up, but we had him.
Remember Ghost Roaster.
He wasnât good
I think
He was⊠fine. Not as good as Hex.
I also didnât like Sunburn too much.
No not all.
Hex was good.
Remember the specific elemental gates??
Or dungeons even.
Whatever you call em.
The portal sound was iconic.
Or Eion saying âuse the tech element in this zone.â
Yes. Yes. And yes. Also Giants had great multiplayer.
Ya know I didnât play that much multiplayer
I just did the story mode, lol.
I didnât even you could until now.
Giants has, if I remember correctly, local multiplayer only. I donât think the next two games had multiplayer and Superchargers was online only.
Ohh ok. I do remember doing the battle mode in Skylanders Giants tho
Never had Superchargers.
Superchargers was, in my opinion, bad. It was fun, but also incredibly shallow and it didnât feel to me like anything more than a rehash of past games.
hmm that game isn't on steam
Letâs see I also liked Tree Rex a lot.
No. All the releases were physical because characters were collectible figures.
It was a fun game tho
If youâve heard of toys-to-life games, the Skylanders series was the first.
Idk what it is but Skylanders reminds because of the fact just like in Hades boons give the character different abilities and in Skylanders was basically you get abilities for your character you choose, and also these 2 games are similar cuz certain elements work together with certain ones, and boons work with different boons, etc. Itâs just similar but also different and Hades reminds me of Skylanders.
I feel like the best elemental pairing in Skylanders is definitely Fire and Earth.
My dad called Skylanders âDiablo for kidsâ.
Hahaha!
Thatâs true tho
I also think the first Skylanders was the hardest one. Cuz you had to create that like thing in the middle with all of the elements
And some keys were hard to find (tech)
It also took a long time to build it.
The first gameâs final boss was so difficult.
