This is one of the screenshots I always see make the rounds in this discussion https://site-cdn.givemesport.com/images/22/01/22/56db79825acab8b5878f981a6b16e6d4/320.jpg
As a massive gameplay over graphics guy, I get irrationally distracted by fps stuttering
I can probably check that area
same. i don't mind inferior graphics but at least run properly jaklsjdlfj
Think is at the start
I think it just needed another year in the cooker tbh
And some help from people who aren't brand new to open world console games
i read somewhere game freak is still being run like an indie studio
That's what I've heard
Exactly on the inferior graphics thing. That's why I'm so surprised Arceus is getting so much flak for graphics if its performance is fine. It must be really really bad in that sense
Is the game fully open world?
The games aren't the main monetary priority
and that it's a combination of the studio head wanting to do it that way + TPC just not putting in the time or budget for the games bc they'll sell anyway
on their brand name alone
that too, i think most money comes from merchandise right
Yeah merch is the real money maker
tcg>>>>>>games and I stand by that
I'd imagine there's a reason why there have only been like, 3 console RPGs to the Pokemon name
I still refuse to say any of them have been flat up bad, but I also don't think a game is bad unless it actively pushes me away from playing it
i think the reason it's ugly also has to do w/ art direction. ofc you can't compare gamefreak with nintendo's in house massive studio but like....it runs on the same device. i think botw definitely had decisions made in the art direction department that causes it to still look so good despite running on the switch
What's the "standard" turn 1 attack power in the game now? I come from a time when doing 30 dmg with a turn 1 attack was insane
At the end of the day they're still Pokemon and they're still decently entertaining, they could just be much, much better
To be fair I dont play, only collect
I just remember seeing the 400hp wailord card and thinking that the game's officially jumped the shark EDIT: Sorry, 300hp Wailord card
I'll probably pick up Arceus when I have money and no other things to buy because it's a direction I do want to see them continue taking
My rarest cards are from a 2018 mcdonald's promotion in a class trip. my friends got happy meals and I got 3 of their cards
I have no GX though
Ok i think i found the place lol, picking up the screenshot
Yeah, robably same for me. I still need to finish up Dread and Pikmin 3 from my Christmas Haul
Just like, next game, they really need to bring back abilities
And then I'm still not sure if Arceus will beat out the new Advance Wars game
Because I am nothing if not a nostalgia whore. And a massive fan of WayForward
There's no reason to have dropped those outside of not having time to figure out new ways for them to work
Hold items too
https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/751198390892888294/938530343294750780/2022020217210500-7CBCCE282CD36658AB28471FB4791102.jpg
Not exactly the same but hard to find good place while pokemons try to beat me up
sad to say but at least it seems to run properly at launch
which, nowadays, is a miracle for a triple A game
Thank you for the screenshot
how long before EA's gonna nuke battlefield 2042
It's a little better but that texture work is horrific
"aight i gotta add in the textures" "no you can't the game ships tomorrow"
Yeah, gotta hand it to Nintendo, their games are at least not buggy messes. Or at least buggy messes in the broken sense
sweeps Age of Calamity under the rug
I realize BDSP had some pretty broken stuff in it, but it's not hard to avoid them
Yeah, but it's not like game crashes or anything catastrophic like that
i played the demo of that and god
Ah, gotcha. I was about to say that I'm used to Indie/Retro games that take lots of shortcuts, but most of those games know how to shortcut in less obvious ways
i didn't have many of the frame issues most people reported but i think that's bc my game decided it would just balance itself out by running in 480p smh
and everything looked blurry as hell
for age of calamity's demo, i mean
Totally get it. I guess I'm just nostalgic for the GC/Wii age where Nintendo actively didn't care about their games having HD graphics
I felt it gave them an edge for the retro style gamers that primarily cared about fun gameplay experiences
i just want a video game to run like it should at launch if i do buy at launch. like, that seems too much to ask nowadays i guess when it comes to big titles
But then again, Mario Galaxy looks amazing anyways, so yeah
i don't think i've bought a game at launch in the past 3 years
I feel like the pandemic's made me do it more often
I did buy New Pokemon Snap at launch tho, which convinced me not to buy Pokemon games at launch ever again
what happened to pokemon snap?
also i think the biggest bullet i dodged apart from sword & shield was cp2077 jsldfjkljsdf. i remember how many preorders that game got and everyone was so so so convinced how amazing that game was gonna be
but i had a gut feeling for some bizarre reason that i shouldn't buy the game unless i had seen more of it on console and well, what do you know
People should do exactly what you did at that moment, with all games
Trying to avoid spoilers, of course
same with elden ring. i got a base ps4 and i'm not buying that game until i know how it runs on a base ps4
the network test that ran on base ps4 seems to show it's very stable but that's just 1 area of the game
I wish I did that with FFXV tbh
when it comes to optimising games for consoles i tend to be a bit more trusting of fromsoftware than other devs, but if i was playing on pc i'd definitely be more wary jksldfjl
still, they're a company and i wanna see the goods before i give up the money
I find hilarious how one of the easiest ways to capture Pokemon in Arceus is by ambushing them by hiding in Tall Grass
oh how the turns have tabled
Even gain bonus by hitting them in the back lol
Nothing bad. It was just such a nothing game for my tastes that I regret the purchase. I'd imagine it's a great game for a younger audience though, or as a cheaper purchase for someone nostalgic for the original
I think just seeing Pokemon in 3D and having them do cute things isn't as big a novelty for older people as it once was
I still need to pick that up
I enjoy photography and the old one
Also, unrelated, just finished a great game
Yakuza: Like A Dragon
Some bumps but otherwise great
Yakuza occupies that territory of franchises I respect but will never play
Enemies started to get a bit too spongey
I'm glad you enjoyed it
Is that for gameplay reasons or thematic reasons?
Probably a mix of both. I'm not much into "real world" games in the first place
I ask because LAD is a turn-based RPG instead of an action brawler, yeah
And then also not much into...Anime Japaneseness? If that makes sense
what is “Anime Japaneseness”
It's definitely a bias on my part. I don't doubt the game is good
do you mean like jrpgs in general
Kinda? I for example don't like Persona 4 or 5 because of the social VN aspects
And didn't play FFVIIR because I was a bit weirded out by all the best waifu discourse
It also helped me boil down what a jrpg needs to have to keep me engaged
i think if you like the battle/combat system of the persona games but not the social aspect you might enjoy the SMT series
I think it's absolutely a weird bias on my part against the...culture those games are informed by? Maybe that's the best way to put it
Oh yeah, Devil Survivor is one of my favourite DS games
I think there's definitely some anime tropes that I don't jive with, I get it
yeah same
But that was also back when I was more cool with anime. I think my tastes have prolly just changed as I've grown
To keep my attention, a jrpg has to meet two of the following three criteria:
- Active combat decisions (action commands, CC's attack types)
- Character options outside gear (job system, skill trees)
- Interesting aesthetic choices
im okay with it as long as it doesnt completely overwhelm the game
same about the weird anime tropes, it makes me very uncomfortable
I think Xenoblade 1 handled it very well
i think that's the main reason i never tried genshin. 20+ year old women looking like children does not do it for me bud
one of my favorite rpgs
I mean one of my best games I played last year was 13 Sentinels, and that game is mired in things that I'm not super comfortable with
To put it bluntly, I think * learned growing up that I absolutely could fall into the...weird anime waifu trap and have an irrational bias against any game that could even remotely go that direction
one of the weirdest stuff i've seen is persona 2 including an option as a male protagonist to start a romantic relationship w/ a male team member and all persona games since actively making fun of/actively being bigoted towards gay people
Like, it makes me cringe way too hard to enjoy the game, even if it's a fantastic one
Yeah Persona super doesn't have a great track record in recent times in regards to that
Looking at you, Yosuke
FF7R’s debates were relatively tame
The only legit RPG I ever played was Wasteland 3 and 2
Honestly the only thing I know about Yakuza is that the games are well liked and it apparently does the Shenmue thing of having tons of little minigames where you do like, karaoke and stuff
Because there's a clearly correct answer /s
Yakuza is very silly
in persona 5 it was especially jarring because they were fighting for "justice" and equality for everyone and then the next scene they're making fun of gay people bc they don't count i guess
I actually thought the Yakuza games were mostly Shenmue style open world things
Yakuza manages to be a played-straight well-written crime drama, and an absurd comedy
The main stories are all pretty serious, but the side stories are like, peak absurdity
Majima sings a joyful song.... and it's pretty good! And I freakin' love it!!!!! Easily my favourite karaoke song.

you just don't get this anywhere else
i think disco elysium is also very good at this
But yeah, that's the kind of stuff I look at right before writing off a game as not for me
I love how I saw the thumbnail and immediately started singing
it's both a classic detective story with political and social commentary as well as the weirdest and best comedy you've played in ages
Basically just take that Scott the Woz on anime games and that probably describes me reasonably accurately
Main story: a crime man framed for murder has to find out who sold him out and why
Side story: some dude stole a video game from a child, go beat up him, the dude he sold it to, the dude he sold it to, who happens to be the kid's dad buying the game for his son
LAD makes some really good commentary on the plight of the homeless
Like, I don't even know the plot of the yakuza series, let alone play the games, but I will die for 24 hour cinderella
One of your party members also has the unique class "Homeless Guy" that lets him summon pigeons and debuff enemies with stinky breath
It's very mood whiplash
one of my fav side quests in Yakuza 0 was the one where i played crane games for a little girl to get her stuffed dolls
and then beating up the dudes who extorted her mom w/ a baseball bat
For reference, my favourite games of all time are like Portal; TF2; and Advance Wars. All very focused mechanics based games that don't really have overarching narratives as their main selling point
Although TWEWY is also probably on that list so idk. Maybe that game has enough Western influence that it doesn't weird me out as much. Or that it's so fantastical it's easy to separate it from any real life cringe factor
I just distinctly remember that part in Persona 4 where your best guy friend asks you to choose which of your two girl friends is hotter as the breaking point for me on all that
Or that part where you have to ask for your girl party member's number and the VA has...too good of a time with the resulting line
Honestly, I don't think I could have gotten through 13 Sentinels if I played it in English
Portal 2 is art
We sharing favorites? For me it's the whole Half Life series, Arma 3, Titanfall 2, Red Dead 2, Hotline Miami, Borderlands 2 and The Witcher 3. Not very inspired isn't it
More like trying to psychoanalyze my irrational fear of anime games
But kudos for having good tastes
I mean you're also allowed to not like things, I don't want to come off like I'm implying your tastes are incorrect
I tried to play RDR2 and I just couldn't do it
I treated RDR2 like a movie and roleplaying game, that's how I got the best out of it
Oh of course not. I just don't want to come across like games like Yakuza are bad when I say I'll never play them
Like, I'm sure the story is fantastic, but it wasn't worth fighting with the controls for me
It probably didn't get any favors coming right after Spiderman, either tbh
That game controls like butter
RDR2 is one of the few games I actively boycotted due to crunch culture
Same hat, I grabbed it used
But thinking about it now I think that's just an excuse for not wanting to play a 100 hour game
I still need to try Witcher 3 the same way
I didn't like 2 but I've heard 3 plays better
Open world games as sprawling as RDR2 and Witcher 3 intimidate me. At least with BotW the game segments itself into neat chunks very nicely
RDR2 isnt that big actually
I guess Witcher 3 kinda does that too with its questlines
but the way it was crafted makes it seem huge
Honestly my top 3 list comes out looking like Outer Wilds, Pyre, 13 Sentinels
At least when it comes to modern titles
More people should play Outer Wilds it's very good
What’s outer wilds about?
I did the mistake of reading Worlds 👀
It's a narrative exploration game where you fly a spaceship around a small universe trying to solve a mystery
It's notable for being entirely curiosity-driven
I mean, okay, Hades is on the list of modern favs too for obvious reasons. I feel like Hades has been the game that's gotten me to care about its story the most, but probably because that game is just a massive trove of character interactions and not really a traditional narrative per se
There's no quests, and very few NPCs, and lot of the exploration is driven by "that thing in the distance looks neat, what is it"
Although your ship does keep track of information and points of interest
It's also got some deeply profound things to say and experiences to share, I'd argue
I definitely need to get around to Outer Wilds. Even my non gamer coworkers have been telling me how great it is
But going further into it would do it a disservice because, since the only real mechanic is the mystery, explaining it kind of steps on that a bit
Well, outside flying around
Which is fun
Yeah, someone was doing a design analysis of the game as an aside on Youtube, and I thought that whole thing where they literally just ask you what you want to do was brilliant
The DLC is also fantastic
Even though the choice has literally no consequence, which just makes that design better
Exactly
Honestly any game that asks you to make your decisions and live with them narratively gets an A+ in my book
I'm just glad they fixed the brittle hollow Plot hole in the DLC
Which one was that again?
The fact it made not sense that after hundred of thousands of years of volcanic activity in its moon the planet just started getting destroyed 22 minutes before the supernova
Yeah, I didn't really see that as a plot hole because the game just kinda has to work like that to function, but I'm glad they added an explanation
"Card Game"
It's basically a turn based RPG where instead of textures you have cards xd
its a joke
All good
this looks pretty interesting https://store.steampowered.com/app/1822060/Those_Who_Rule/
Those Who Rule is a turn based tactical RPG where you command a group of new recruits in a low-fantasy, morally gray world. Expand and level up your party, equip custom weapons, and outmaneuver your opponents, as you uncover the truth behind the endless conflict affecting your country. Do you have what it takes to overcome the overwhelming odds?...
TBD
looking forward for this to be released
(more info about it here) https://feuniverse.us/t/indie-steam-those-who-rule-world-map-poll-1-30-22-open-beta/14289
Latest Release: 2022-1-11| Content Rating: 15+ (mild animated blood effects, crude language) Link to vote in world map poll (1/30/22) Hello everyone! lmao what character even looks like that I must have missed them 😭
unrelated but does anyone know if deathloop has gotten performance patches since release
was thinking of grabbing it before the sale ends but idk
Think so? Watched a stream over Discord of someone playing it with decent specs in solo and online mode. Seemed fine and manageable.
Worried for the lack of footage but luckily the Livestream tomorrow dispels my doubts
For anyone who's played, is kena: bridge of spirits worth it for $27 usd
I keep missing Witcher conversation
no
The combat is alright, the puzzles are fine
the environment is pretty
the music is fantastic
story wise it's bland
I'd suggest get it on discount
Or do you mean a greater one
yea
Hmmmmm...I was this close to buying Kena at 40
It does seem like a game that'll drop lower though
I have an interesting one. Recommend games to help someone overcome their LoL addiction. Single player only. Asking for a friend
I recommend vestaria saga
If you like it, then also know vestaria saga 2 is getting remade and translated to english atm
Well, are they looking for an experience totally different than LoL, or something similar yet is not LoL? For the latter, I can recommend any ARPG can fill that, something like Diablo, PoE, Grim Dawn, and the likes. For the former, well, they gonna have to be a little bit more specific, but I’ll recommend something like Witcher 3, maybe even Monster Hunter?
Depends on the genre, but not playing LoL is top priority to fight the addiction
I heard about that Snorlax
Apparently its job is to annhilinate anyone that tries to go certain place before they are supposed to

i still want one with hyper beam lmao
Wish open world games did open world like metro exodus
aka make it hub based and actually interesting and varied
Only the Caspian level is truly open level tho
The other maps range from "Completely linear" to "Linear but you have some agency to reach B from A"
Pokemon horror just hits different lmao
I actually recommended them roguelikes, since they said their problem was that they would instinctively start a round of league whenever they had a half hour or so free
Funnily enough, they seemed really interested in Hades
Good good
Seems good enough
LOL this is my exact issue
im half finished with nier, persona 4, boyfriend dungeon, etc cuz i just play league
I did also say to get into speedrun ing
I feel like the mindsets between a LoL climber and a speedrunner overlap pretty well
And most communities are kinda sorta not as toxic except for the BFBB one
That last part was a joke. You're probably still cool if you speedrun Battle for Bikini Bottom
Unless you're SHiFT
I got a feeling the game was more of a prototype to what's to come but the open areas were pretty good especially Volga
Ghostwire: Tokyo had a deep dive showcase today and with it was an 8 minute display of brand new 4K gameplay. Get a breakdown of your various abilities including different elements of wind, water, fire and more. You'll get to see various mechanics in the game, as well as your ability to traverse through the world with your Tengu ability.

this looks good
How in the world are people able to afford the new pokemon game
Like what
???
It's so frustrating to me
Idk if this goes in here I am just
Genuinely mad
Sorry I'm a bit lost by your question... what are you mad about?
Price
Well, just like every recent Pokémon game, it is $60. And I never played any Pokémon game from day 1 because of that
Com to think of it, I don’t think I ever played any $60 games from day 1
honestly i might just buy every game preowned and at least a year late from now on. it is so much cheaper
I don't blame you
Steal it from a walmart
Unironically
Had a friend get RDR2 for PS4 from a random rack of games and apparently stores in the US dont have security sensors
I think the latter is the biggest question lmao
Like here every store that is owned by a big company has security gates
Also good news
I need to stop looking at big gaming news tweet comments I swear
yeah
also
the fact that i'll probably end up getting it two years later like shield
what is it with people needing everything to be family friendly
I wouldnt know, my parents lost faith in me a good time ago lmfao
if an npc calls me by a very common Australian insult I cannot name here ironically then so be it
I think it's funny
also english insults or any while at that dont have any impact on me cause Im ESL
Yo, Ghostwire Tokyo looks sick
I had the idea it was full Survival Horror but this is nice too
The second game in the unique Voice of Cards series, where all elements are presented entirely through the medium of cards, in the tradition of tabletop RPGs and gamebooks.
A touching tale set in a world of melancholic beauty, brought to you by the creative minds of YOKO TARO, Keiichi Okabe and Kimihiko Fujisaka.
Voice Of Cards: The Forsaken M...
Jesus christ. Already?
This is not a DLC. This is a Sequel
i did not expect this
I just hope Todd Haberkorn returns as the Narrator
Yeah he's the GM of the first game and narrates and voices ALL Characters
inb4 they hire Matt Mercer next lmao
oh what
is the first one good? I've had it on my wishlist for a while cause its yoko taro and friends but haven't seen it on a decent sale yet
Tax return came in so I snagged the new Pokemon
It really does look like trash lol
But not in a way where I can't ever see it looking decent, if that makes sense
The issues feel like they're from the textures and the lightning, and not from the actual style
So things that could have been fixed or better if it took longer or had more experienced hands working on it
small indie game company
Please understand 5 member team
Fr, cause a lot of games can have graphics that aren't great but make it stunning if they have good art direction, arceus seems so flat and devoid
The gameplay is great though, which is awesome
i still don't have it but want to get it
Running around and catching things is actually fun, the battle system changes are mostly positive, the models and animations actually look better
The writing is still bleh
But the research notes idea of giving you more tasks than "catch a single one of this Pokemon" is great
being in the grass catching pokemons with stealth is fun
am i the only one who really couldn't care less about this game's graphics?
i'm in it for the gameplay and lore, why is everyone so focused on the graphics? Who cares
i get it it's nintendo a big company they should have people who can make a decent 3d game but hhh i don't know i don't have that standard for them
There's no reason they shouldn't be better than they are
And like, I generally prefer stylization over graphical fidelity, but this I feel is an active detriment to enjoyment
Like, the game isn't uninteresting, it's flat up ugly
And that's a problem when the parent company has more money than God
i just go "that looks dumb" from time to time but i ignore more than not
yeah that's why i get people who have a problem with it, because technically they're right
but at the same time personally i don't really let bad graphics affect my enjoyment of the game
i think it's because i'm a pokemon enjoyer, not a nintendo fan. I'm just there for the pokemon <-<"
with a game like ac:nh it would be different maybe. It definetly makes a difference for me with the sims 4, but i don't know
If they didn't stagnate for a decade or so I'd be more forgiving
at least you can confirm the gameplay is good?
about the story i have to see it for myself but i hope it won't be another swsh
i watch too many pre release theories
The gameplay is great, for sure
that's a relief
i don't have great standards usually, i don't even consider myself a gamer and in this case i was just overhyped because yo a game set in the past with completely different mechanics??? Yes????
but anyways tl,dr i want to see other discussions about the game other than the graphics because i really don't care about that aspect in the game
even if they're right i know they are but i'm not invested in nintendo enough i'm just there for the pokemon straight up murdering you and the more mature vibes
also rowlet
i like owls
some characters straight up tells you that if you fail a mission they will kick you of the town and good luck with the wild pokemons lol
(at the start of the game)
oh the spartan way i see lmao
also pokemons that attack you vs just watch you is so funny
the evo line of machamp just runs at you to literally flex
and paras is out for blood
pls no spoilers if it's not true but i watched some theories and speculation before it came out and i like the idea that it possibly references a sort of colonizers/native population conflict?
Also a religious conflict that oi it looks actually like they thought about it at least abit this time
citing a meme
grandma fighting bears so we could put stickers on pokeballs
i would like other games like this, i want this to become a recurring spinoff like mystery dungeon or something
i saw an ig post with some ideas, like ancient unima based on early america or ancient alola which isn't ancient alola but actually an ancient ultracity from another universe like the one in usum
i've read comment of people wanting a legends type of game for kalos
with the whole pkmn war and all of that
OH YEAH
Well the good news is that Arceus was marketed and categorized as Mainline
So hopefully that points to the gameplay style becoming the norm going forward
I love the feudal Japan setting
I would give my life to more pokemon games based on periods of history in different geographical locations. I've seen several with Unova already
It's so weird that a "mainline" Pokemon game has no multiplayer
Although, I guess if you count the Colosseum games as mainline this wouldn't be the first to not have it iirc
I can agree that graphics don’t matter as much, but it can be very distracting when there’s a big contrast between the gameplay side of the game vs the graphics side of it
I think I’ve saw some screenshot and clips for the game that shows like N64 trees and 1fps Zubats, there’s no way you can just ignore details like that
PLA might be heading in the right direction based on the reception so far, but I think we can all agree that they still do need more competent devs
1 fps pkms happens to basically any flying one in the distance
IGN has this clip of a Steelix in the background just bopping around on the ground when she’s flying around lol
It was pretty funny ngl
Other than that though, it’s a pretty commendable effort by GF, just wish that they put the game a little more time in the oven for the next one
I think that’s what the game needs, more time to just iron out a few more things
First person in game cutscenes try not to get your butt kicked while having no agency over your character challenge (impossible)
Shards of Gravity - game inspired by HOLLOW KNIGHT & CELESTE - free alpha RELEASED
DOWNLOAD: https://bluecrystalstudio.itch.io/shards-of-gravity
Does Arceus have any voice acting? I haven't paid attention, but it doesn't look it. It's weird without any audio, even gibberish like the Animal Crossing villagers would help
Nope
So strange, but then again Pokemans
I think only pokemon game with voice acting is pkmn masters lol
I love it when Nintendo randomly gives all the cool stuff to their mobile games over the console ones
it's interesting how the demand for voiceacting in pokémon started to come up as soon as their ingame cinematography started to become more complex
ever heard the golden sun version of gibberish?
it nasty
Never played GS, so no.
But sometimes I really enjoy the gibberish. Animal Crossing and Midna in Twilight Princess were better for having it.
Golden sun had gibberish?
Also, never played Masters, but if they didn't get a bunch of the anime vas over to do their characters' lines, there's not really a point
I didnt even know so many people wanted voice acting in pokemon
I don't, but if they're gonna do it at least nostalgia bait for the anime
Meanwhile Metro is hitting me close to home
This tablecloth is...jeez. Memories man.
These games are very relatable.
golden sun was a gameboy advance game, dunno what kind of audio sounds you were expecting from a handheld jrpg from 2001
Reminds me of the opera scene from FFVI Advance for the GBA
This is the Celes part of the opera... part, from Final Fantasy VI Advance. Aria Di Mezzo Carrattere, that's right.
Contrary to the other videos I've seen here on YouTube, this is not in Japanese, it's in English.
Before you ask, I only included the Celes part because of 2 reasons.
- It's what most people want to see.
- I messed up and t...
Have anyone here played geometry dash?
Stereo madness could be heard from everyone's phones when I was in middle school so yes I did.
i played it a lot as a kid
rip bozo
also started The two colonels dlc for Metro Exodus. It's literally Aliens in the Metro universe, I love it
By that I mean having a huge upgradeable flamethrower and burning biomass to a crisp
I heard last year that google was looking into alternative revenue paths for google stadia
Not too surprised given that their business model was kinda bad
I think the bare minimum in 2022 is like how Breath of the Wild did it. No voice acting (other than grunts or "oohs," etc) for like 80% of the game, but voiced cutscenes
Deemo 2 truly is the demonstration of extrinsic motivation bc the instant I finished the main story I stopped playing it

This trick being as old as 2012 never fails to excite me
!!! Almost a shame this bug exists, never got around to playing this like an actual bossfight with this character
Shame?! Come ooon it's not a bug it's a feature
Also first time I played with Zer0 I didnt even know of it
I think it's very time saving
Plus what games rarely offer shortcuts to some bosses
It has it's charm and uniqueness
Also Borderlands 3 is on humble choice or whatever
the facebook comments when they announce new humble choices are soooo weird
if it aint a AAA then it's bad
if there's an AAA title then it's good
bro Borderlands 3 aint even good 😭
I think they spent their whole budget on getting BL3 on the bundle then the others are bargain bin picks
Well there's Calico but that's about what I find interesting
everhood is neat, and the soundtrack is absolutely amazing
ive also been interested in black book
honestly, i might get this one, since borderlands 3 is the only one in the series i dont own. but im still in the middle of borderlands 1...
my taste in video games is like, so different from the AAA/Hardkore crowd, hehe
Borderlands 3's story left a HUGE bad taste in my mouth. You'll see for yourself
yeah same, i rarely play AAA games. i just love shorter indie games
Also I think I complained about this game 4 different times here already I might have a problem
if i ever get there im sure i will see it
Maya and Lilith my beloved
Im hopeful for Wonderlands
No Randy Pitchford to ruin the game, it has guns, magic and melee weapons, imagine the possibilities.
Whaaaat can go wrong....Heh...
(I lost faith in american games)
honestly i feel the same, idk if it's because i'm now an adult ™️ with less time for video games, the fact many triple A games tend to be incredible time investments consisting mostly of bloat or just a combination of both
i mean, i spent plenty of time playing Hades but it never felt like a drag. probably because there's no real bloat and each run is another step towards your goal
AA games are the perfect balance. Stuff from Deep Silver and THQ Nordic and such
Basically european publishers that arent Ubisoft
i actually quite enjoyed Darksiders 3 despite some framerate issues on the ps4
speaking of THQ/Deep Silver
Best example is 4A Games. These guys made the Metro series and they feel like a big budget series. No they literally developed them under Ukrainian tensions and eventually moved to Malta.
But Last Light was made through blackouts and hard to import machinery and such
These games are more of a passion project for the novels
honestly, i find ubisoft to be one of the most bland publishers the industry offers. i mean, apart from all the sexual harassment and abuse going on at that company that still has not been properly addressed, almost every game in every franchise is the same. i don't blame it on the individuals doing the coding, making the models or art etc. but it's very clear that there was a single or just a few people making all the creative decisions
yeah same, ice pick lodge from russia remaking pathologic is merely out of passion for their original project, considering the og pathologic is more a cult classic than a smash hit financially
I think 4A Games' work model could be considered crunch but no one was disatisfied or reported bad things. It was constant work and adding stuff others proposed on the way. That was for Exodus
and considering the fact they only had the cash to make one of the three original routes and are now dependant on funding from fans and other sponsors to be able to finish the other two
Like some guy said it would be cool to shoot while using the zipline so they just added it in. Or a metal detector which is completely useless. They added it there because some guy thought it was cool
They didnt have the constraints of working for a huge publisher
This reminds me of the recent launch of that Gothic mod.
chronycles of myrtana or something
They literally put it on a CD at launch
This is just lovely
This makes me excited for Elex 2
honestly over the past few years i've genuinely gotten so much more fond of indie titles
for those exact reasons. they often tend to feel a lot more like passion projects with a lot more personal storytelling
there's some biopunk game with ps1 graphics style that i keep seeing on tik tok
forgot the name
but you can rip organs out of fallen enemies and use them for yourself
wrought flesh that's the name
not worth 20 euros though
I've been replaying fire emblem echoes because why not, and since I have nothing better to do I just grinded Lukas to spartan in act 1
https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/754171467079483422/939917964608700486/a.png
Talk about an unbalanced game 👀
I assure you, up until this point the game is not that unbalanced, it's just that the player grinding Lukas to level 20 baron is not intended
pokemon white 2 is a fun game because i abandon my pursuit of finding a good source of money while still being in the story only to then immediately find a way to get showered in money
i am grinding for gym 7 and just earned 400k in the space of 20 minutes by doing naff all
👀
i now have 99 of every x-item
think i might stand a chance against the gym. not sure
gen 5 is one i could never finish lol every time i fished out one of my cartridges to try and finally finish gyms and elite 4 i just felt so bored with it i never do
dont think i ever finished gen 6 either
Gen 5 was pretty fun for me, but I have never played gen 6
Originally I didn't have a 3ds, and now that I can emulate it, I just prefer playing other stuff
Most of my time in gen 6 was spent buying clothes/using the roller skates lmao
it's funny bc i started main series with gen 6 so it was absolutely fine for younger dumber me, someone with 0 brains and expectations, to play through those games because now i look back at them fondly lmao
i still have two gen 4 games to play through but i haven't decided the challenges to do for those
Have you seen this
https://youtu.be/NMPbukK63po
The second installment of the long running franchise.
I have
It's pretty funny how they can't decide Alm's hair color
It was blue in his gaiden ingame portrait, a darker blue in his gaiden artwork, blonde in this commercial and green in the remake
Well, it was green in the gaiden cover too before the remake
nah gen 6 is good
imo at least...
it's just boring
it was okay i guess, it didnt really leave me any lasting impressions beyond how continuously annoyed i felt having to go through uh [googles] lumiose city? the huge one with the godawful camera angles
there's no thought into winning
its one of those games i play to make myself feel better lol
i just don't see why you would play x and y over sun and moon which are imo the peak of the series
so true sun and moon are my faves
difficulty in pokemon games is always something thats going to come up, ultimately i dont really care for how easy or hard a game is, personally
xy arelike my 3rd favorite pokemon games
i don't really mind difficulty either but if i don't have to think at all and it's just spam a
why bother
then play something else 😭
idk why so many people dislike sun and moon
it was the most fun i had had w/ pokemon in years when it came out
exactly
sumo was the most fun i had since gen 4, yeah lol, up until post game, i didn't really like gen 7 post game much and dropped the game in the middle of beast hunting bc it was lame
the issuue with lumoise is they basically looked at castelia, which does the same thing, and said 'how can we do this again but make it worse'
also to be fair to kalos it has the best starters
that's Mycen and Alm right? or is that supposed to be Rudolf?
Personally I think SwSh smokes XY
I think my personal order is like, 2 > 3 > SuMo > ORAS > 1 > 4 > 7 > USUM > XY
Arceus is probably floating somewhere between 1 and 4
And I'd put 1 lower and 4 higher but 4 has Sinnoh has some major structural and biodiversity issues
Also didn't play 5
gen 2 being the best is a hot take and a half
i kinda wanna make one of those
ok uh
usum > sm > 4 > xy > all other pokemon games
:)
i have garbo taste
explorers of sky > conquest > gen 4 > gen 5 > emerald > the rest is a blur > unite
pokemon conquest my beloved
had some of the best pixel art ):
loved all the alt partner pokemon portraits so much
Pokémon conquest straight up has the best Art
Had a double L folder with all the official art in high school
Is it? I can see arguments for 3 because Abilities or 4 because of the Physical/Special split, but I think 2 managing to cram Kanto into the cart really nails it
pmd >>>> mainseries
that's it, that's my tierlist
i couldnt get into pmd 😔 the mechanics annoyed me lol
Only played one and never completed it lol
i just think they're neat
PMD is a roguelike
it just is
Yeah that's just factual
Oh boy. I enter and first thing I see is people saying if X is a Roguelite
thats how you know fox has been by recently
looking for a new roguelite
with a large lootpool
preferably
Are any of you interested in any of the games that had/will come out this month?
Elden Ring
Total War Warhammer 3
Horizon Forbidden West
SIFU
Dying Light 2
The King of Fighters XV
nope
no
Elden Ring and maybe SIFU
I'd add on KoF but I've learned my lesson on fighting games
I’m interested in Sifu as well, combat looks really good
Risk of Rain 2
Or y'know, Isaac
So I just started Okami on the HD Switch version, for the first time. Hour and a half into a game, this is so good.
Glad you're enjoying Okami! I have like 3 versions of the game and never got past the first dungeon of any of them XP
Also, playing through Death's Door since it's on Game Pass. I...like it but feel like the gameplay and exploration is a bit monotonous
i want to like it bc its basically right up my alley of interests but i cant even get through the first couple hours of it so im :/
The combat's probably the best part, but it's hard to explain why I'm so meh on it
I think because the exploration is so signposted that it's not really fun to explore
Okami's opening a real slog
It's a lot of people talking At You about things you might not care about
Which is a shame because 90% of that game is probably the best 3D Zelda to come out
Oh, I should have probably not posted about 2 really similar games at once. I'm talking about Death's Door. Okami I just bought for the "good game people say is good" factor and never got around to playing it for a decade and a half
I think I have the Wii, PS4, and Steam versions, so yeah, I've had Okami for almost 2 decades
Okami needs to have like 2 hours trimmed off each end
The amount of respect and reverence it treats Shinto mythology with is incredible.
I'm so used to hackneyed cliches and appropriations
I definitely respect the game a ton, which is probably why I bought it 3 times
I just think I have a hard time getting into a game I know is going to take a long time to beat
Yeah it's certainly no joke
Especially Zelda style games, where walking away for any period of time is gonna make things really difficult
I do notice some input difficulties with the celestial brush, as far as detection and precision.
That's probably one of the things going in Death's Door's favour, since it's so signposted it's essentially linear, and the story is so simple that you always know what to do next
but then again, 20 year old game 😛
Yeah, does Switch try to take any of the motion controls, or is it entirely the PS2 style shoulder trigger thing?
Switch does use the JoyCon, and I love its implementation. I have no issue actually "painting" onto the screen with the motion, that's for sure. It just sometimes takes another try for it to register in the game. 😄
JoyCon really is the best form of motion control, IMO. It made Breath of the Wild's archery the best of any game I played, because of how you can fine-tune the aim
I'm only partial on the Switch's ability to do pointer implementations
But anything that's just relative aiming is 👍
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is a slog to play docked
Just looking through PC Game Pass to try something new
You don't remember how helpful cloud saves are until you need to spend a night downstairs and your saves are all on your upstairs rig
Snap decision: Nobody Saves the World or Monster Sanctuary?
I've heard good things about Nobody
Monster Sanctuary is cute but takes a bit of getting into
Yeah, I keep seeing Nobody around but couldn't tell if it was legit good or just a big marketing push
I'll do a book report on Nobody
Finished uncharted 4, while it has some annoying controls in combat it was a fun time
So after playing Nobody Saves The World for 3 hours straight, I can confirm that it is in fact a fun game
Reminds me of how bad it was to play TWEWY docked as well
For people who haven't seen Nobody Saves The World and were curious, it's probably best described as an idle clicker style progression system put on top of an actual game, which is in itself a top down open world rpg thing that has very bullet storm like, crawl em up combat
It's extremely accessible and doesn't take itself too seriously. I'd almost call it a collectathon in the sense that you need to fulfill enough of its idle clicker esque tasks to pass certain progress gates. It even does the mobile clicker UI thing of showing all the tasks you have on the side of the screen as little bars that fill up and ding as you complete them.
It's definitely not a GotY contender, but it is a fun and addicting game that has gameplay that won't make you ashamed to get sucked in.
Is it a roguelite though
every game is a roguelike if u try hard enough
Regular roguelites deletes your save files after every run as a QoL feature? Lmao
I played Nobody for 10 hours, and while initially it is quite fun indeed, it got boring for me after that time, felt repetitive and I didn't feel a motivation to finish it (story and gameplay weren't engaging enough). I wonder how you will feel after that time, VioletGil. I like your description about the game, it's quite spot-on :)
I should probably complete my latest CQ lunatic run, even if lategame is hell at least I have to one round Ryoma with Oskar
I used 2 heart seals on him just to get trample so he does more damage to Ryoma
Savage blow is also useful a couple of times but not against Ryoma specifically
In case you wanna grab it
SIFU looks incredibly punishing
There is a permadeath system
SIFU?
The new Kung Fu Soulslike videogame
Like your character ages as they die
And if they reach 75 years old they just die
And you have to start over
And you are unable to unlock some abilities if you don't unlock them before reaching certain age
Punishing sounds like an understatement
Bosses seem to serve as checkpoint do
So if you don't die after killing the first boss you can always start from there
Not a roguelite, but many of the dungeons in Nobody Saves The World are procedurally generated. Since there are a lot of idle mechanics involved, you have the option of replaying dungeons to grind out some of the tasks if you'd like.
Doing so is probably not super required to beat the game, but the design does unlock the idle clicker completionist part of my brain that doesn't want to proceed until as many of the bars are filled as possible
The Roguelite I'm expecting the most is Endless Dungeon
Really looking forward to it too! It's interesting we got more lore bits on the fact that indeed there exist space party ships in-universe.
Also really dig some of the possible skins for one of the revealed characters.

Loved the first one
If you are a fan of papers please you should take a look
Same
Hopefully after this they do endless Legend 2 tho
I keep seeing one of my creators hyping a game called Warm Snow. Any of you ever heard of that?
Dunno why I'm being vague about it considering this is the Hades discord. Haelian seems to be playing it a lot lately
platinum wants to switch to live service (derogatory) games
https://twitter.com/Toadsanime/status/1490670782988566535
They gotta get their bag somehow
They've paid their dues by making enough good games apparently
What was that one mtx action game made by the Killer 7 guy?
I feel like a Platinum Live Service Game would look something like that
my fav part about this wording is the implication the games will no longer be well-designed, which.... looking at many live service games, tracks frankly. also those "one-off" games can be enjoyed at any time, a live service game's lifespan is completely at the mercy of the publisher, which is dumb and lame
stop making live service games, we're tired of them <3
is it releasing on pc? i honestly forgot
trailer looked interesting from my memory
ah damn

i had that on my wishlist years ago but never saw it on enough of a sale to pick it up
I will probably watch someone's playthrough of Sifu, maybe pick it up eventually. It looks fun from what I have seen, though I am hesitant on how it handles difficultly.
Also lol. SIFU has an Old boy reference 10 minutes in
Playing echoes, Saber ate a 4% crit from Grieth which left him a little below half health
And then he 12% critted Grieth back down to 3 hp
And then killed on the second hit because he somehow doubled Grieth being a myrmidon with steel sword
steam deck performance looks extremely promising based off all the early performance reviews

Untitled Goose Game for a casual experience
It's a great "significant other" game. Also, It Takes Two for another good "significant other" coop game
A Way Out is another good narrative coop game. More story driven and gritty and serious, and it's only really satisfying if you haven't been spoiled on it

to those who have played both ff vii and the remake, can i play through the midgard section of the original and then play the remake to be able to appreciate everything between the two? or should i finish the original in its entirety first?
If you can get through the original, do that first
FF7R is not something that should be your first exposure to that particular subset of the franchise, in my opinion
So it's important to play all of the original first, not just the Midgard section?
I would say so
It would also be helpful to have context from the rest of FF7 (Crisis Core, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus) but those aren't things you'd need to like
Go out and play
And Advent Children is pretty neat just as a movie
It's more a case of like
why does ff have so much cross media content to tell a single story
cause the amount needed for xv is WILD
Hey, just make sure you know thing happened
ah okay
XV is a particular bugbear about it
7 just has a lot of extraneous material because it was such a hit
Let me see if there's a decent video that would fill you in on the things that aren't 7 Classic
ty i would appreciate it a lot
These should sum up pretty well, but definitely tuck them away for after FF7 since especially Crisis Core hinges on some pretty plot-critical stuff in 7 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKfFHYiiNSk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6wt0zpKhl4

And Advent Children is a pretty easy movie to track down and get through
great, thank you
yeah 7 just has content spread everywhere bc its one of the most popular and well known entries to the series so square capitalized on that. other older titles like 6 or 8 or 9 or whatever dont experience that, you play the game and you're getting most of the content right there, outside of extra stuff in the ultimania books
7R is also particular in a sense that it reads as a sort of love letter to everything within its extended canon
ah, so watching the recapitation of the original doesn't work either?
Didn’t 7R change some story beats as well?
I remembered FFXV being hated on it’s extended universe because of how you need to watch a lot of things if you want to view the whole story in chronological order
Every single one of it’s extended media, happens before the game
i found a good reddit guide for viewing order, playing through a king's tale rn
but it's pain that it's not all within the actual game
Oh, and yes, play Crisis Core after playing the main FFVII 😉
SE does a good job on Crisis Core, it be a shame to play it chronologically
should i watch the recapitation of dirge of cerberus after crisis core?
Nope, Dirge of Cerberus happens after FF7, before Advent Children
oh okay, so the order i should go in is original game, crisis core, dirge of cerberus, then advent children
Yeah, that’s good
okay ty
Just so you know, chronologically, Crisis Core happened before main FF7
But Crisis Core is structured in a way that it made more sense if you already played main FF7
gotcha
Out of curiosity, does Crisis Core assume you already know the twist in FFVII at the get go?
There’s also one more game that chronologically happened before Crisis Core
I always wondered how they handled that
Before Crisis
It references some characters
And how those characters behave and such
Oh if you're not like, dead-set on playing the original, a recap is fine, yeah
I think 7 still holds up and is generally considered worth playing
i just don't think i'll be able to have the time to sadly, i'm sure it's great though
If you just want to get right to Remake then a recap is surely the quickest way
Awesome, I appreciate you explaining everything
this is #self-promotion material fam
yeah, please take this to #self-promotion thanks :)
Uhhh I'm angry at some gaming "guides" written by gaming "journalists".
How can you be so wrong and yet so confident omg.
They play a game for 3 hours and think they know everything
Then they're taught to write confidently so it seems like they know what they're talking about
3 hours? is that being generous or is that the average tutorial length for those people
my favourites are the ones where it's 'which x is best' and the entire article is just opinions stated like they're facts
journalists tend to be real assured of themselves
Fire the one who bashed Cuphead for not being able to pass the tutorial
they... bashed cuphead?

I thought the whole shtick was they just suck at the tutorial
They actually bashed it because "iT wAsH tOo HaRd!!" but in reality the one who did that just couldn't get past a (honestly) pretty simple platform
i think that was supposed to a humorous video
I mean, that was hilarious, alright
Don't think that's how it went
the journalist who was mocked for not being able to pass the tutorial in Cuphead was not a gaming journalist, but journalist in general who was asked to play Cuphead and write an article on it by the peers. Even despite having difficulties with the game, the general report was positive for Cuphead even then.
The thing you remember probably was most likely a parody of some sorts.
also people love* to take things out of context for the drama so it could be similar to that too
It's always helpful to take a step back and think about just how much gaming vocabulary is baked into our brains versus someone with zero experience in the medium
Because it's shocking what you don't realize needs to be said
There's a couple really good video essays about it
About a year ago, my wife asked if she could play a game. Instead of simply saying yes, I decided to run an informal experiment where I had her play a sampling of games to see how, after a lifetime of not playing games, she would do. These are the results.

I do think it depends on the site and its culture, but I've been reading a lot of Rock Paper Shotgun from 2014 to whentheplaguehit. Over time I developed a rough idea of some writers' preferences and dislikes. So even if a writer didn't like a game I enjoyed, I still could pull out some useful information out of it.
A trend I'm liking is moving towards representing button prompts with all four buttons vs just the button you need to press
Like, if the game wants you to press A, it shows up in the text with A highlighted alongside its position on the controller
it should get around the same playtime as Dead Cells. I guess about 5h.
An article discussing the whole Cuphead situation. Might be an interesting read.
in the end, gaming is a hobby and who cares if you're good at it as long as you're having fun
This is a bloody good video
He's got a whole series on it
And yeah it's super fascinating what people like you or I might take for granted when it comes to the universal control languages of games
Like, of course holding the jump button makes you jump higher, it always does
But why would someone completely new even think of that
Hmm I saved the video to watch while I eat lunch it sounds fun
Yeah, that video specifically made me a lot better at finding games to play with my wife
I'm glad it's been making the rounds
oh this video came across my feed before, it's very insightful of how much we take for granted, and how much that's obvious to us genuinely is not for someone who doesn't play games
i think this is smth to keep in mind on the topic of accessibility too, like just because we intuitively know many of the things we do in games doesn't mean everyone does, or everyone grasps them quickly
That was really interesting I'm gonna check out his other vids once I'm home
Well I'm not talking about reviews.
I'm talking about guides in gaming journals.
If you intend to write something as a guide, the expectation is that you are familiar with the game.
So they doubly fail, essentially
people just write anything and try to be on google first page
case in point https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv2YV9J3ejM
"Hey Ben, we need that top 10 weapons article in an hour!"
"Oh shit, but I only know 8 weapons and I can only use images from the teaser trailer!"

looks like there's gonna be something related to atlus
I don't even know what games atlus has made, I'm just familiar with the name
Idk, I don't have much better things to do with an hour.
Worst case I have background noise for my work
It'll prob be a release date for p4 golden on switch
Was p4 golden already a known thing for Switch?
hate to break it to you but that's a gimmick account
I feel like Jak and Daxter has lived on the most through other franchises out of the big 3 PS2 era mascots
Like, open world mission based 3rd person combat focused action platformer sounds like a description for a lot of AAA titles nowadays
Wonder if Nintendo will announcing a streaming music service to try and justify ruining someone's channel
for an extra 20 a month
It wasn't Nintendo this time who filed the copyright notices.
It didn't follow the format of Nintendo co ltd or lcc etc.
the email of the "Nintendo" that did the takedowns doesn't exist either.
YouTube came out and said it was Nintendo official
@SolScribbles Jumping in – we can confirm that the claims on @GilvaSunner's channel are from Nintendo. These are all valid and in full compliance with copyright rules. If the creator believes the claims were made in error, they can dispute with these steps: https://t.co/ivyjVNwLVu

I like the games Nintendo puts out but they're a horribly-run, anti-consumer nightmare
all those notices were filed one by one too
like, someone at nintendo spent idk how many hours and days going through all that content MANUALLY flagging them one by one
I'm sure they handed it off to their dedicated team
Which, that job must suck lol
Go tell Johnny Nobody he owes you millions because he jailbroke hardware he bought and paid for
i mean even if in this case, nintendo was in the right, considering gilvasunner uploaded music to youtube that he didn't have copyright to and wasn't fair use, like...what's the alternative
people pirate, emulate and upload nintendo's content BECAUSE there's no alternative
Maybe not shoot your community in the foot
If there were a way to obtain these tracks through purchase, I'd be a bit more understanding
so many old games have not been preserved by nintendo, the soundtracks are not available to stream anywhere, the old games and their respective consoles aren't even being made or sold anymore
I think we're saying the same thing here
but noooooo we gotta file a copyright claim for millions bc someone's emulating a gamecube fire emblem game
I can't read lol
oh yeah JKLSJDF with alternative i meant "there's no alternative to listen to the music"
bc they're not for sale or for streaming anywhere
unless you might find the rare ost cd released 20 years ago that's being sold on ebay by a third party for 90 dollars
that reminds me of that one time where nintendo decided not to release a game from a certain series in the benelux bc the previous entries in that series hadn't sold well enough there
because of "piracy", according to nintendo
which, IRONICALLY, caused almost everyone in that area who did want to play the new entry in the series to, you guessed it: pirate it
where they might have chosen to buy it instead
I had somebody tell me once that emulation is wrong because old games shouldn't be preserved, it was bonkers
Bonk that somebody in the head
one would wonder if nintendo spent more money filing claims to fans than leaving them alone
if only the money they spent on filing copyright claims would go to preserving their games
One could also wonder how Sega and Capcom get away with not shooting every fangame project down in flames
wasn't one of the most successful sonic games of the past few years a fanmade game
that sega published and supported

I'm so old that I remember when GilvaSunner was known by their original handle, SilvaGunner
Actually, I think it was GunnerSilva and they just have had to rearrange stuff all the way since
I wonder how SiivaGunner is doing
siivagunner is a different channel that is still alive that makes parodies of vgm
giiva was the one that did hq rips
which is now sadly gone
I'm sure people have ripped all the rips and have them uploaded somewhere
All I need is that Undertale arrangement of Goodbye to a World and I'll be happy
Oh, I just realize what you meant. Thank Christ my real hq rips are still intact
me, am a q1->q2 xD
update: game is fun 👍
never watched anything about it other than the announcement so I was a bit surprised to see "oh yeah its martial arts sekiro" with the focus on parrying and posture and all that
Preds?
Silksong 🤡
They are gonna spend 15-20 minutes talking about a jrpg again
definitely gonna talk about advance wars
Probably Sea of Stars, 13 Sentinels, Rise of the third power and/or another upcoming pc game getting a port
Oh and Not Tonight 2
Tfw you learn how to launch the enemies in the air in MGR right before the Armstrong boss battle
rhythm heaven plz

hype, loved the first game
Hope Bayo 3 is there too! 😊
Oh, nice I'm dying to hear 10000 jokes about Among us 2 announced in the next week
I'm already sick of everybody and their dog being like "sIlKsOnG wEn!?" this couple of days, they better have a fallback plan if that doesn't appear in this Direct other than raging
Probably my favorite character action game tbh
Tomorrow Ill play the Sam and Bladewolf dlc
i'm so close to finishing pokemon white 2 and i've just been played like a fool
man
this franchise might as well be dead by now
waiting so much to announce such crime against humanity is no good at all
at least the graphics look acceptable this time
https://twitter.com/jasonschreier/status/1491540372962562049 rattles my cage bars and crawls all over the walls
The Chrono Cross remaster being real means that, per the Nvidia leak, a Final Fantasy Tactics remaster and Final Fantasy IX remake are also on the way 👀
I'm so happy about Chrono Cross
my entire timeline popped off for klonoa
so many animal mascots coming back lately, what a great time to be alive
klonoa looks really good
This direct was neat. Loved to watch chat react to what was shown on Direct without actually watching it.
no monster hunter or pokemon mystery dungeon so back to sleep i go
forgot to watch, what was announced?
I'm a simple man, I see Advance Wars I see happiness
Kirby car, thats all
I'm SO glad they are keeping this quote
"Inhale a car" is gonna become a meme. Mark my words
people are already on it https://twitter.com/docky/status/1491539659524124678
full mouth mode looks painful
It's kinda creepy who he doesn't actually completely eat the things
Kirby becomes creepier the more you think about his powers
Glad that is basically chill till you touch his food
Each year that passes the temptation to grab a switch becomes heavier
i had planned to get one a couple years back but then i had legal stuff come up so i couldnt really put aside funds for a console at the time, and at this point i dont think im really interested anymore 😔 there arent really any console exclusives that really grab me, so all i need is to be able to upgrade my pc finally and i'll be golden
it is and im sure they're aware of it
Octopath Traveler was also dumb but kinda funny and quite explanatory of the game
iTs so dumb sounding
i just shorten octopath down to 8path, what do u even shorten triangle strategy down to
When I hear triangle Strategy
I think in the Axes>Lances>Swords>Axes from Fire Emblem lmao
is that not what it is?
triangle strategy sounds like a math problem
final boss of triangle strategy is pythagorus confirmed
I'm not sure how they chose VAs for the Advance Wars remaster. I never expected Max to sound like Arin Hanson
They didn't even really tell him to gruff up his voice either. He just sounds like Arin Hanson's typical VA voice
Omg wii sports sequel
Also Portal 1 and 2 ports lesgo
Who would have thought, Valve games on the switch
Also what the hell. As if MK8 was deluxe enough it now has dlc.
Yeah, Portal 1 and Portal 2 bundled on the Switch for $20 is a crazy person deal
There must be some ulterior motive behind that one
Only 20? No Nintendo ™️ tax?
Oh, wow, only $20?
Yeah, Valve made a press release you can find on Google
That’s good
Well Valve likes to make their games affordable
Affordable
Doesnt beat the 60 cent deals for Portal on sale though
Still, porting is expensive and hard
Or 1 euro or something cant remember
Yeah, Portal was literally free for a time
Just to source check
Portal and Portal 2 are coming to @Nintendo Switch in Portal: Companion Collection. Get ready to think with portals later this year for $19.99 in the Nintendo eShop! https://t.co/2khcumsBbK

Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy Tactics.... dammit, I want Tactics Ogre/Ogre Battle, not those games.
I think I saw one guy on NintendoLife who recognised Live A Live and absolutely nobody else
Also, is it confirmed Next Level Games is the one doing the new Strikers?
Oh, interesting, I'm reading reporting implying that these Portal Ports were made to test some of the Steam Deck enhancements / optimisations ahead of that device's launch
I could see the price being so low if it's justified as a tech demo style thing they're just cleaning up and selling on Switch
Is there the slightest chance of the Portal games ever becoming available in physical format?
Probably not with a price that low, but I don't think it's been explicitly ruled out
Valve isn't exactly a company known for physical copies of their games. Even at the best of times it was a novelty or a last resort necessity (as was the case for things like their XBox 360 lineups)
Live A Live actually looks quite interesting
I'm so glad they are keeping the British Accents for XC3
Those accents are now part of their identity
what does fire emblem have to do with mcr
someone said something about them both together in a diff server
Me neither. I love them. Something about the kid in me who grew up watching Power Rangers just loves that cheesy butt-rock that is clearly only written to sound awesome as a fight's BGM. Same thing with No More Heroes 3. 😛
Stains of time goes hard
The only way I've ever heard of live a live is from siivagunner rips
obscure 90s jrpg fans eating well lol
The Jetstream sam duel went hard as well
It's the smart use of vocals
idk we'd probably need a bit more context to figure that one out
what the hell is wrong with the parry system in MGR
Im getting my ass beaten in the jetsream dlc against bladewolf
also yes i did play the game on easy and it was great
maybe it's better on controller, no idea
I played on keyboard the whole time
didn't notice anything wrong with parrying except for the age old skill issue
didn't play Jetstream Sam though
bladewolf literally knocks you down once and no time to get up and already hits you 3 more times
Sam might have a tighter parry window?
I remember the parry being super generous in MGRR
maybe they made that boss faster or something
with the idea that people who has beaten the main game wouldn't want easy fights
the Final Fantasy XII soundtrack is so bloody good
which song is your favorite
It's so hard to choose.
The boss battle theme is incredible, as is the Estersands. But there's something incredible about The Archadian Empire.
if that's the attack where he pins you down and chainsaws you in the face I got hit by that a ton in my main campaign playthrough, not sure if you actually can parry it
You def can
Tho if you have blade wolf on lock on the camera going all over the place makes it a bit difficult to land the parry
Good god. Im just going to play on easy since Im being ultra filtered
No shame in that
Also, funny update about the Kingdom Hearts Switch cloud ports
Game times you out after three minutes of inactivity
(The opening cutscene of KH1 is longer than 3 minutes)
Sounds about right. I was helping a channel I follow do timestamps for their Direct discussion, and I couldn't even be bothered to verify the actual name of the KH Cloud Collection for the timestamp I cared so little
Needless to say, I think I'm done with KH for now, which is sad to say after growing up with 1 and literally playing hooky from school to buy and play 2 on launch day.
Just emulate it
I mean, I own a PS5 and the games run buttery smooth on there
PCSX2 is such a nightmare to configure right, I'm fine paying like $20-$30 for the full collection now
all mainstream emulators are pretty straightforward
just turn anti aliasing off and you'll be good
for some reason I remembered Boktai today
what a weird, weird GBA game. remarkable animations and pixelart for the platform, really odd semi-stealth puzzle gameplay and a story that's ...just kinda there?
I don't recall much of it
but it had a sort of off-kilter vibe to it
powered by the sun
as in like you literally used the real life sun for boktai, it had some kind of solar thing in the cartridge
never owned it but i remember the commercials for it, boktai was never popular but kind of like. a cult classic sort of thing.
Cartridge has a photodetector
Only problem I've got with Boktai is the fact that you may end up burning the screen faster than you'd want to 😅
Man, I have a love-hate relationship with Plantinum. Like how they can create both Masterpieces and stinkers without blinking
If Hideki Kamiya is anything to go off of, I imagine that Platinum is a very...emotional company that will put more effort into the projects they care more about
And tbh. Even if he's not trolling (which I doubt it) with resurrecting Scalebound. The gameplay and graphics already looked meh
Wanna hear the "Bruh" news of the day?
Bruh
i'm gonna be honest i never heard of the first one until a few years ago and i thought the sequel had already released a while back
lol that game is never coming out
Or worse. It comes out and sucks
Doom 2016 was a Christmas miracle I don't see happening with this one
i was gonna suggest the people in charge were sacked bc of sexual misconduct but since ubisoft has done little to nothing about their problems i doubt it
it's just regular development hell
Yeah I think is just unfocused development
I need to finish 2 games before the 17th
We'll see if I'm capable
For KOF?
Oh nevermind, the new Horizon game comes out the next day
Point blank: Do people think Elden Ring will be, like, Sekiro/Bloodborne good?
No, Total Warhammer 3 is the one I'm waiting for :p
Horizon I'll get eventually but not now
Didn't even see that one. Good taste
thanks
I started playing Blasphemous
will of wisps also look damn lit @hollow bough
