rise doesn't look like botw
beyond "they both have grass"
arceus was 100% absolutely trying to emulate the botw look and style to uh....results
anyone try out this game yet? https://store.steampowered.com/app/1296830/_Warm_Snow/ looks p interesting
While the rich stinks of meat and wine, the bones of the poor litter the roadside..Great injustice often leads to strange occurrences.Snow in July can only be remedied through blood.【A Dark Tale of Sword and Snow】A strange phenomenon appeared during the 27th Year of the Longwu Era. Welp, no FF XVI mention
well that gets a sad damn daniel ar ar ar ar from me
tfw no dragon quest xii
Has anyone played moon hunters?
Moon hunters is very fun for about 4 runs then you kinda have seen everything
I adore the game and it has a great soundtrack but I don't think it has much content lol
Daemon x Machina is awesome
fantastic soundtrack
Also: You know your stuff. MMZ saber combat is brutal
I'm making Hawkeye Gough from Dark Souls 1 a Darkest Dungeon playable character.
today I learned rainbow six extraction released. Oh no! Anyway
Hey so i bought gungeon a few days ago and played for a few hours but the game just feels kinda lackluster🤔
Like it just doesn't feel as exciting as most other roguelikes i played
felt the same when i played it on EGS
Like nothing just feels rewarding
I dont mind if it doesnt have that much content as long as there is different ways to play and win each run
I mean tabletop games show most of their content each match
Then you might like the game

new memory unlocked
anyone ever had one of these?
literally thought it was official and had to insert it into my xbox 360
i had the 360 version but you get it
I didn't even know something like that existed, but it looks really cool
literally just a disc of a program for pc that you put maps and stuff on an USB stick then put it in the console
it was only 6 euro or so but god damn
no way
yoo stampy's lovely world?? man i'm glad that hasn't aged horribly
for real, it's sad to see some content creators some grew up with just become bleh
yeah it is tbh.
in other news i load up a mildly old pokemon game and am immediately hit in the face by the amount of qols that just don't exist
I have to farm rare items to fly across the map to talk to a specific npc to get rid of the move rock smash
i hate to say this but dying light 2 looks kinda sus
way more RPG'ey than the first game
Tony Hawk 1+2 has semi-replaced Hades as the game that is ruining my hands as I play it for way too long on the toilet
I have fundamental issues with the loot system in BL2 tbh
Level of gear becomes ridiculously important
It was far less important in 1
On top of that there is a meta to ideal parts
But some stuff is barely designed with unique enough parts
So actually visually determining the quality of a drop is hard as hell
All for a relatively simple game mechanically. I never did big raids because I started way after those were relevant.
best way to play is UVHM, OP 10, with the gibbed save editor
Yeah
I just grinded to uvhm op10 and traded around for a bit
Plus switch had dev codes in for a bit after the Lilith dlc
Also raids are fun as hell in normal mode, I did the one in the torgue dlc, with the Pete guy, it had some mechanic of rinsing off corrosive damage off you by going into the water pipes
Doing the dlcs (besides tina's) at uvhm op10 was hell
Krieg cant do the torque blimp fight very well
Or the trex
Regular enemies were fine besides the usual few deaths. Then bosses that I had explained just took no damage.
Like the way I play Krieg, I need enemies in Chain Lightning range
I use that to heal and build stacks
It isn't huge dps unless you have a lot of enemies but it's amazing healing and stack building
Fastball collection ofc
It's also used by Zer0 melee builds for self shield stripping
I do that too with flame of the firehawk
I do a pyro/blood build. Cowboy head fire skin. Modded Jakobs grog nozzle with a hammer trigger.
Then like a perfect DPUH, Heartbreaker or one of my other shotguns, and an Ahab or something.
I love Ahab. I even got the modded one the boss uses.
Grog into Ahab does great stuff
I realised how useless finishing the Zer0 Bloodshed skill tree is
Like, it's only effective in normal mode to just cloak and dash and kill enemies in a chain reaction since that's where they die fron a single hit
Although going back to normal mode in low level areas is so fun to use that skill
Well ofc if they dont die already from my Antagonist shield
Lately I’ve been playing BL2 as well on my Switch. What platform are you playing it on?
Tried to search for online games on my Switch for BL2 but apparently, it’s a barren wasteland ;-;
True, it seems odd that a fundamental mechanic like that is in the game but it wasn’t highlighted as much, nor does it have a UI designed to easily check for it
In other news, YGO Master Duel has just been released. People have been praising the game by how easy it is to create your first few decks, but I have a feeling they’ll quickly turn to hate once they hit a paywall in the game.
Sure, the early gem rush really helps new players build their first few decks, but once that honeymoon period is over, it will force you to pay for the microtransactions hard, just like any other mobile-centric games out there.
People are really in denial to the true nature of the game tbh
true to actual collectible card games then
shame that tabletop sim is the only good way to play online mtg without exorbitant amounts of money
True to the last bit
I’ve been so out of the MTG circle, I don’t really played it anymore, but I still follow new sets that came out just for lore and artwork
If you had told me this tweet was from the Hard Drive I wouldn't have doubt you
Ubisoft is developing Notre-Dame on Fire, a location-based VR escape game that will give the players a chance to save the the Notre-Dame cathedral from the fire that broke out in 2019. https://t.co/E920OaBY0C

Seems like a nice effort for a good cause
that's very funny actually
Inb4 the Templars burned Notre Dame because there was an Apple of Eden inside or something
We need more firefighting games.
I really want a proper fast response simulator actually
Firefighters, Paramedics, SWAT etc. etc.
The logistics of such services are very interesting
Mario Sunshine
PC, that's how I can literally survive the game
I absolutely suck on controller at shooters
I feel you honestly.
I have never been able to handle first person viewing/shopting in a game (mostly because I am bad at it)
The motion controls help yes but not when they are on all the time 😭
I got used to it ofc
These are the consenquences of having only a PC in the household
Well just finished TVHM in Borderlands 2
yay I guess.
i love the awkward part of looting everything you need from the last boss
So much more loot than you even have space for, and you would still ended up selling them all lmao
Carefully picking each eridium ingot
@dire condor 57
oh aight i am only 25 i think))))
lol))))
botw motion controls are the only way i can aim the bow in that game
controller aiming 😨
I hate myself: if I type "lin" into my keyboard, the predictive text immediately guesses "linhardt"
I GET IT I'M GAY NO NEED TO CALL ME OUT 😭
holy crap i just realised how big of a deal the activision purchase was on an economical scale
just in comparison George Lucas sold Star Wars to disney for only 4 billion. Compare that to 70 billion
It was the biggest acquisition in the history of gaming, ever. The second biggest? It was when Take-Two bought out Zynga, for $12.7b
Note that both of those deals happened just recently, in 2022
Third biggest was when Microsoft bought out ZeniMax
i still dont know why Lucas sold out so cheaply, because the effects of that have been devastating
lucas was paid half of it in disney stock. the value's gone up a lot since then
But was it really worth it 😔
Disney make tons of money, so George Lucas has stocks in that company, he's making a lot on that.
As if he needs it though 😂
if someone walked up to me and offered to give me 4 billion dollars I would not hesitate
star wars was not doing much as it was lol
Motion controls get a bad rep. It's the perfect way to fine-tune your aim in BotW, and I will die arguing on that hill 🤣
I really hate their motion control puzzles
Because I literally do not have proper spatial reasoning
So doing that stuff took hours and made my head hurt
Like trying to interpret the movement of the switch and the movement of the thing in game
And it isnt 1:1 movement
Luckily there are only a handful of those in the like 160 temples
For for aim it's pretty amazing
Botw is responsive enough to turn me around while riding a bear when I turn my switch
What are your favorite roguelikes besides hades
hades.
i havent played hades, but cotnd is my favorite
Crypt of the necrodancer?
Anyone played any others like binding of Isaac or spelunky
My fav roguelike is FTL
i've played dead cells and now looking into second try of CotND
Been playing more Dead Cells and Slay the Spire lately, as far as roguelites goes
I heard Dead cells is awesome
Ohh nice
The only other rogue likes I played are Crypt of the Necrodancer and Binding of Isaac.
Both also great titles btw
How’s issac
Isaac is pretty good.
It is probably one of the better rouge likes out there.
With almost infiniste combinations of powers and a lot of endings and modes
Honestly tho I have never been a fan of the.... world the game presents xD
So I never played it a lot
i've been having fun with Dead Cells, isaac a bit but too much items makes my confused
Dead cells is very fun
Planning to get a ps5 this year. Sony won't release a Pro version for this right? right? 😂
Considering current shortages and the fact they're still producing the ps4
Highly unlikely but who knows
Things I just did that I did while I channeled my inner Ferdinand von Aegir: I belted out a ton of musical theatre songs while doing the dishes.
i've never played a final fantasy game and just saw the strangers of paradise trailer, are final fantasy games always that confusing/filled with awkward dialogue?
It's worth getting into slay the spire btw
It's a very fun game. Its much more intense than it seems.
Basically half of it is racing against randomization (or breaking it entirely) before you become a god
There are points where you basically have infinite generation and its very fun
It's a scaling heavy roguelike. you need scaling or you lose
Sometimes that's just like 6 strength. Sometimes you want 150 strength though.
Higher level play is absurd.
I'm like ascension 7 at highest and I just die when I turn ascension on again lol
It's cheap and imo easy to get into
i personally couldnt get into slay the spire
not always no, but its definitely more rampant in modern games
Is there a final fantasy game that has well written characters? I just got a ps5 this month and have access to a couple final fantasy games through ps now but am unsure which one has a good plot
Are we talking pre-FF7, FF7-ish era or post-FFX here?
Well written characters is a pretty relative term. I find that most of the modern FF games suffer from tonal inconsistency issues. FFX probably comes the closest to having consistent character development, but that's probably because your party is condensed enough that every character gets their time to be fleshed out
im not a mmo person at all and i play games for the story(usually). FFXIV is the best one, no contest. and there's free trial.
the first expansion isn't that good and got memed a lot. the second expansion Heavensward is loved by most fans, and the lastest two brought it to great heights
FFVII was surprisingly light on character development since you got a lot less interaction with any given character unless you specifically used them a lot in your party
Never played FFXIV. I imagine that's the one for people who are cool with extremely long form storytelling
My suggestion is to try FF9, it’s pretty well-written by my standards, but everyone else’s opinion is still valid, of course. I mean, there are 15 of them out there, so yeah lmao
FF9 and FF Tactics(war of the lions) are my other favorites
i'm in the minority but i did like the story of ffta2
it's not groundbreaking but i enjoyed it
Was about to say FFT as well in terms of story-telling
FFIX is for the people that enjoyed old school FF stuff but wanted it in a more "modern" FF game
But it is a tactics game, not your usual JRPG as far as most main line FF games goes
For people who played FFXIV, did the trailer for FFXVI actually indicate that it would be somewhat related to XIV? I remember that being a thing discussed when the trailer dropped
But again, I have no experience in XIV lore so I couldn't tell you either way
most likely not related. people are excited because the guy in charge of ff14 is in charge of 16
yep. i guess he knows how to pick team members on his project
@sleek quiver @winged dew thank you guys for sharing your thoughts, think I'll start with ff ix, xiv seems cool but the subscription model for it sounds pretty expensive and I'm not sure I'd have enough time to play monthly to make it worth it, but maybe in the future
mmos aint for everyone dw
i mean i didnt catch on with FF14
it has the same things that keep me away from the mmos
I really, really liked 9
It helped that my prior exposure to FF was through friends playing 7 and 8, so 9 not being outwardly grim and brooding was a great change of pace
ff9 is genuinely my favourite video game ever, it's something that has stuck with me through the years, and every time i played through it (was a gift as a kid around like 2001-2) i understood it better and had a greater appreciation for it
What game franchises have the best storylines in your opinion?
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1220010/view/3106921324356380303
Nice, Loved the EA version
For those interested is basically Darkest Dungeon if it was set in a contemporanous Civil War
does the supergiantverse count if i find a way to fit every game's story in the same continuity
because other than that i don't have much of a gaming culture sorry-
Legacy of Kaine, Half Life, Metro/Stalker
I wanna say the nier games but idk if that's just from the grimness
Correction Stalker doesnt have exactly the best storyline in of itself but it has great lore
haven't played many franchises but the best stories i've seen in games so far have been
tlou 1 and 2
the telltale twd series
person 4 golden

Jesus, the latest Strangers of Paradise Trailer.

Respawn is allegedly working on 3 Star Wars games
Fallen Order 2, an FPS game (Most likely Republic Commando 2/Imperial Commando) and a strategy game alongside Bitreactor.
So basically empire at war 2 lol
Cant wait for the FPS title honestly
Respawn were the good choice
its not allegedly its confirmed https://www.ea.com/news/electronic-arts-and-lucasfilm-games-announce-new-star-wars-titles-from-respawn-entertainment
@wraith cradle just got and finished my playthrough of Not For Broadcast. Was good.
Lol, Still installing mine
Had exams this afternoon so I couldn't play it
Glad you enjoyed it tho
Let's play my saves were in the cloud
Given I changed computers 2 months ago
Was kind of surprised how big the download, but guess that's given with the amount of footage in the game lol.
42 hours apparently
I'm v late to the party but I'm just starting botw and I'm excited
YEss have fun
GOD I STILL NEED TO GET IT
But I am a) broke and b) still trying to get other games ;-;
I will eventually get to BOTW...someday ;-;
Capitalism is a cruel mistress
For as good as BotW is, I'd have to think hard about it before recommending the game to a specific person
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like BotW is the "Jack of All Trades; Master of None" argument taken to its extreme. After all the hype surrounding it when it came out, it seems like speedrunners are the only ones coming back to it repeatedly afterwards.
i come back to it repeatedly
i love botw
its not my fav game (that goes to miitopia) but idk its justa nice game
This is probably my exact feelings on BotW. A good game, but I'd rather figure out a person's interests and recommend them something more suited to their tastes
I wish they expanded more on the survival aspect
So I just come back to Red Dead to be an outdoorsman
Also it's so great to roleplay in that game
Like doing actual journeys and such amd booking hotels and going to the restaurant etc. etc.
There are preowned copies at gamestop going for $26.99 right now
I still dont know why it goes for 60
it's been released in 2017
I love the Nintendo ™️ Tax ™️
I am still very broke, but I do appreciate it!
I'm planning to buy CrossCode, is it as good as they say?
seeing this list makes me think you'd probably really enjoy Zero Escape
Also, 13 Sentinels. It's on PS4 so most likely you can get on ps5
13 Sentinels is probably the best game I played last year
Yes!
idk but love the ost
People won't simply forget about Metal Gear despite Konami ruining the IP
Nanomachines, son!
I'll look into it, ty
Np, hope you can play soon!
Crosscode is a great time, the dungeon puzzles can be a bit ridiculous but the characters, story, abilities, and overall atmosphere are all v fun/engaging
Eastward finished. It was nice
Kinda reminded me to Crosscode in the gameplay
Even if MUCH easier
And yes Crosscode is one of my favourite games ever
Playing Metro 2033 Redux, the gas mask mechanics are so cool
MGRR never stopped being popular in my circles
how difficult is dead cells compared to hades?
Much harder tbh
hades at the beginning is very hard for me so I kinda worried I might break my keyboard when playing harder games
The only thing i dont like is having less healing when it gets more difficult
(so i use custom mode lol)
for me the experience was
sucking at hades - still fun and makes me want to play more
sucking at dead cells - frustrating, unfun, does not make me want to play more
Finished god of war, was really good, liked the characters and art direction a lot
Looking forward to ragnarok
my personal guess would be its because of devil may cry 5 releasing not super long ago, and people who got into the genre with that going back and finding more games like it (at least that's how I found the game)
or more likely its just internet things, like how half life sound effects suddenly became popular for a while lol
probably some streamer played it
asmongold singlehandedly made FF14 the highest played game in the series prove me wrong
😔
The ost + memes with cutscenes of the game just invaded my yt feed one day lol
I think blizzard might have been a bigger factor lol
wow refugee crisis
tbh
its really cool to see a plat game
get that much level of popularity
mgr was always popular, but in this post nier upcoming bayo 3 world
its a good boost
I just installed The Old Republic, I wanna try it after school
Maybe I'll like this MMO
Hopefully
Just finished a thracia randomizer, never underestimate the guy with a 0% magic growth https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/539168104018608148/935975563980599326/unknown.png
The game really tried its hardest to fit a bunch of skills that shouldn't be there at the same time in the stat screen https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/754170457002868877/935637039687299072/unknown.png
I finished Metro 2033 Redux with the canon ending
somehow I managed to get through D6 with little to no ammo which is always good
Daemon x Machina looks dope tbh
The servants fight from the new dead cells dlc is fun but i suck at it lol
holy crap i unironically like SWTOR
finally an MMO that I actually enjoy
the biggest problem is....the hide helmet feature is hidden behind the subscription
pepehands
also the layout is identical to wow classic so i feel rather welcomed
also I feel like I missed out on being a Jedi character and instead went as a vanguard
I need to find a better looking helmet or something because I aint paying a subscription to hide this goofy thing
Is Portal an FPS?
Is League an RPG?
nah league is a multiplayer roguelike
Well got metal gear rising cuz noticed it was on sale
Sick, enjoy
Even with a laggy pc the rules of nature was cool
Oh damn it's on sale
I'll get it soon enough
Although I want to finish Metro Last Light first
cries in Asia store
I can't grasp why they would region lock a game
Just looked into what did you mean and just left like "bruh"
very cool of this guy to essentially claim they expected the backlash bc people are ignorant 🙄 go step on a lego dude
"the blind man claims that he is the only one that can see, while he is falling down the stairs"
-sun tzu, art of nft
"you guys just don't get it" is certainly a phrase that has never backfired for anyone ever
all that's gonna do is make people more mad lol, can't wait
the only ubisoft games I have are all gotten for free
Well I sold enough junk from my Steam Inventory and got Metal Gear Rising
Im probably starting it once I finish Last Light
stereotypical vibing dudebro voice you just don't get it, maaaan
tbh I don't think the celebrities on twitter get it either 😳
One particular local influencer has turned his gaming/Minecraft channels into NFT garbage, and even his videos' comment sections are telling him to take a hike
reminder that there's like less than 500k crypto wallets and many people own multiple so they can shift around nft and currency and fake transactions to make things look like they have more worth than they really do
like. this stuff isn't even as widespread as all the crypto bros want you to believe but they're desperate to make you believe that
keep pushing back against this nonsense 🤧
hope ubi tries again with quartz and still bombs, will their excuse still be "you guys are just too dumb to get it" 🤔
off topic for video game channel but finding out about how easy it is to doxx people through their nft wallets was horrifying
out of every MMO I played SWTOR has the best progression
That's possible too!? Why is that not illegal yet...
Internet people be like
I know your address
I mean I know that too
"good for you, internet man, cause i don't even know where i belong anymore"
off topic but my classmates found out about my address and phoned me only 10 before coming and we just had a nice time at my house lol
my thinking is that if people in government have difficulties in understanding how video games work, they'll have difficulties in understanding how nfts work (though this might change as nfts can technically speaking be very profitable.) lack of understanding = lack of legislation
(bringing it back on topic by mentioning video games)
Started playing returnal, cool so far, like a cross between the prometheus movie and a love death and robots episode
god he was such a fun character, with an awesome weapon and an amazing theme song
Memories broken, truth goes unspoken-
Where do they all come from, eh?
I guess I was lying when I said the Khamsin mix I made a while ago would be my last MGRR boss mix, because here this one is. It's actually been sitting on my hard drive for a while now - I made it before I went on vacation at the end of July - but I just never bothered uploading it.
With that said, this mix com...
perfection ⬆️
Oh forgot about legendary items being able to be weapons i dont have unlocked in dead cells lmao
Double serenade seems fun
I like the way you handle me
Gotta say though, the new ending in the DLC in Dead Cells, wasn’t really doing it for me. The new boss fight was still pretty nice though, the new tower climb fight was fun
The lighthouse is fun but i keep dying lol
i havent played the new dlc yet 😔
I just did the whole DLC in low BC, with aspects on lol
Not playing Dead Cells because of so much Hades made me rusty
Oh im on 2 bc lol
And custom mode for fountains not breaking
I dont wanna live like its lc4 Hades all the time
I usually play on 2BC as well, loved the single health flasks recharges, still had to ration my health potions but there’s still refills out there in case I needed it
What game could get me a good feeling like Terraria and Stardew Valley?
yoshi's crafted world could work, although it's not the most challenging game
unpacking I hear is a good feeling chill game
like the kids' games?
yeah
Also I only knew of the MMO
Apparently it's like a whole series
To be fair it was kind of a bad game because every cool thing was locked behind the subscription but I had my fair share of fun with it
i can barely find any images online haha
it had a very comfy pier location with many minigames
has anyone here played death's door? if so, would you guys recommend it?
Yes, the game is wonderful and the soundtrack amazing
The only problem for me is I had a tendancy of getting lost but that's largely related to my terrible sense of direction
MGR invented Peter explains the joke memes before peter explains the joke memes
Peter Griffin here to explain the joke
You see, it's funny because Raiden said that they should throw his cyber dog a bone, the humour comes from the fact the robot resembles a dog and dogs like to chew on bones.
Also I once again received more money for the steam cards and now I can get Bayonetta. Gosh I love bots.
He's outright trolling us at this point
I bet they're smaller but there's a bunch of them
Has someone played Supraland? Is it a feelgoodgame?
yeah disengagement is very nice
tbh
what else would you do with a swamp except make it poisonous

a non poisonous swamp would be like a water damage volcano
or fire enemies in an ocean
muse dash base on steam is less than $2 but the dlc is more than $20?
add poisonous shrimps
the shrimps in metro are freaky
yeah ive seen stuff like that
DCS World
vns where the game is 20$ but the voice pack is 40$
although every dlc is more of a game on it's own
the idea is that for hardcore fans that are willing to pay 60, it costs 60
but for new players that arent sure, it only costs 20
basically its price discrimination
that tries to bypass supply and demand
i want to start playing metro exodus but my sister needs my headset ugh
by changing the supply dynamically based on the demand of each person
normally increasing the price decreases the number of sales
but breaking off huge chunks into huge dlc packs bypasses that, there are different price tiers for different audiences, the same logic behind collectors / deluxe editions just applied to the entire base package, via dlc
mfw the only game where sound doesnt matter is SWTOR
i would have played MGR but no such thing without the music
🤔
MGQ doesnt need the music
whyyyyy
for you dusa fans out there
the cutting up mechanic mostly
you can use the stick or mouse to freely cut anywhere
and as much as you want
it's overkill and that's what I'm there for
Sword gameplay, cutting, slicing. Hacking and stabbing everything in sight.

METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE takes the renowned METAL GEAR ...
kind of crazy that no lightsaber games have ever done that
The closest that we got was Jedi Academy
but no actual cuts
more like heated trails where the lightsaber touches
also no way we're getting such things today under Disney
Jedi Fallen Order didn't have dismemberment and such
Here's hoping KOTOR remake fixes that
Unrelated but...
I found a local store selling Blasphemous for 40€ (new), but next to it was another copy of Blasphemous for 50€. I asked about the price, and it turns out...
The 50€ one is used but it was wrapped in the plastic foil it comes with
wait why is it 40 euro in the first place
There wasn't any better offer close to my place :/
Oh you want physical?
Physical games on the switch are the biggest pain in the arse
Because I wanted Bayo 2 but it's literally 60 euros physical
also nintendo charges 50 dollars for bayo 2 on the e shop
God I love the Nintendo tax ™️
I've got another one
I've got a Cex close by, they're selling Slay the Spire on XOne for 8€
However...
They're also selling it for PS4 for 16€
flashback to when ordering a case with a game code inside it was cheaper than getting the game on the eshop
imagine if nintendo actually had accessible game pricing, or actual sales
Never bought digital games on their store, but I know they exist 🤷
I think they're featured on their news
i dont think i can ever embrace consoles since steam has the best sales ever
On the flip side, all I've got for PC gaming is a laptop, and I'm not exactly used to playing on a keyboard, so console is my thing
Nintendo tax is more that the first party games never get huge price drops, not that they're outrageously priced in the first place
Most of the time
MGRR is also less beloved because of the gameplay, since it's pretty standard Platinum fare (as high quality as it is), but it absolutely nails the tone and themes it's aiming for
absolutely this. games continue to maintain full or near full price even years after release, that's usually what the "Nintendo Tax\™️" refers to, bc you cant get first party ninty games on anything other than a ninty console
I've only seen a handful of MMOs that are F2P that aren't absurdly predatory about it
And two of those I bet are, I just didn't realize it
I mean SWTOR is pretty forgiving to F2P's
that's why it's like the only mmo i ever liked
but now the progressions is probably the same as every other
at least i got my mount
also it has worthwhile class stories
and I think I choose the worst
the trooper one
i might consider subscribing since the game's been good to me
Honestly same hat but Final Fantasy
The paladin questline kinda sucks
Definitely wish I had started as Warrior instead
Today I learned mounts dont provide more speed
Ouch
no losses though the mount was only 25k credits and I had like 137k
this is what I mean why this game is so satisfying to progress through
you can easily earn cool stuff and progress fast in the first 20 levels
got 60 kill streak and got hit right after that lmao. glad dead cells saves it once you get it
i learned at last second that ice armor protects from dying to curses
Sounds like outside of looking like dookie people are really positive on the new Pokemon game, hopefully that means good things for the future
the only thing i know from the new pokemon game is a clip of a snorlax just destroying a poor lvl 9 pokemon
With the minority remaining as a minority...
wait i can get BC from the queen?
guess im at 4 bc now
also she felt so much easy, that hand of the king
I got one game
But hey, that has more to do with the fact that I already ran out of JRPGs to play
Which one?
I decided to simply buy the Not For Broadcast OST Opus the Echo of Starsong Artwork.
Which I had the games themselves already
Monster Hunter Stories 2
The only JRPG left on steam that I didnt own and have any interest in at all
Oh cool
The thing is there are half a dozen rpgs coming soon that I want to play
So I'm making time
I dont think there is much coming out that I care about
Strangers of Paradise I guess
Elder Ring
Horizon 2
Strangers of Paradise
Forspoken
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
Oh and Sonzai
AKA totally not Persona
Thats a new one to me, Sonzai
Oh and ANNO: Mutationem. That one looks sick
That, on the other hand, rings a bell
Yeah in the last Steam Fest I think it was the most wishlisted new game
Have you played Eastward? You may like it, I finished it 2 days ago and was nice
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/167450137138823168/895659393696268388/unknown_5.png
But yeah don't tell me this wasn't Persona inspired
Oh, looking at the UI, I can see it
And no, I havent played Eastward
Ill consider it
Not only the UI, people fight using Persona-like Spirits, you have NPCs to bond using social links and all the shebang
I mean the former is just jojos, the latter is just a common trope in general
I think like the idea of punch ghosts is divorced far enough from Jojo's at this point that it feels reductive, at least how Persona handles things
if it shows up in a random game sure its probably more based on jojo
but considering how the ui is already based on persona
its more likely that just the rest is too
although p5 and jojo are two of the most popular japanese things in general with tons of fan overlap anyways
hi just wanted to come into the chat and say how sad I am that sega is (going out of the console business omg im not all there) ❤️🔥
What happened to to sega?
okay no I misread it for some reason
even though ive read the article? hello brain where you at
atm arcade games are my main focus and I fully understand why they're in decline even more now but i'm still sad abt it
one of my city's barcades seems to have an affiliate podcast on arcade games and I might listen to their next episode to see what their thoughts are
Time to finally play metro exodus
Also I swear Sega is the Mitsubishi of video games right now
Aka taking legendary names and legacies and just making mediocre products out of them
Also both financially unstable
No way Sega is still as rich as it was with all those flops these years
if you think it couldn't get worse
atari's selling nft lootboxes for their 50th anniversary
Ok nevermind Atari is now THE Mitsubishi of gaming
oh my god i cant even launch metro exodus
and i troubleshooted and apparently it's because of the windows version but mine is the latest and so are my drivers
moments like this are why i wish i didnt have a pc
You've got to hand it to them, they really have the balls to attempt an obvious scam double the obvious and double the scam
ikr i dont find anything i like
my wishlist is packed with games i want to play, but i have a ton of games in my library i should play first so i shouldnt buy anything haha. i bought a bunch of games last sale and still havent gone through all of them
well today i learned i couldnt launch metro because it was the enhanced edition i installed
so that means i have to reinstall it normally
another 2 hours wasted
This is the saddest video ever
I got nothing on mind to buy on the sale really, besides buying some clans for Northgard since I have been replaying that. My wishlist is full of games that are Soon™️ to come, so no way of buying those and my backlog is non existent anymore, just games that I switch around depending on the mood.
got a fun pokemon question.
let's say you're doing a single pokemon playthrough and an npc you need to beat to progress demands a triple battle.
what do you do in thst scenario
i would win
FACK, well there goes one thing on my "when I go to Japan" bucket list. 😦
fun fact: the unova region has it out for water types
source: trying to beat the entire game using one water type and all the gyms are going completely out of their way to make it harder for specifically water
Ok I shouldnt have installed Bayonetta on my SSD
Now I cant use the loading screen practicing
@jade flume me too!
@celest delta it's pretty clear it's gonna have a dark tone throughout with lots of unpleasantness so idk maybe when my mentals are better plus when the ps5 edition comes out and it is less jank
cause holy crap it is jank
playing it for the first time in 2022 so im used to open worlds being a little more QoL friendly
Witcher 1-2 are THE ultimate jank
which probably doesnt help and makes me sound like a brat but there's like 98245923 open world games so opportunity cost of time
Imagine like everything thats wrong with witcher 3's gameplay
Its multiplied 1000x times on those older games
yeah like i didnt game much from 2010-2020, so i'm only gonna make time for things i know are excellent
or seem interesting to me lol
A lot if clunk even carried onto cyberpunk 2077
yeah, i didn't touch it
Like the looting, crafting,skills
Yikes
Makes sense
i think cyberpunk came out around when i got my first playstation lol
There are multiple endings
And i was on pc
and it didnt catch my eye
It was removed from the store for months
it's not the ending, it's the 80 stragiht hours of human misery along the way
like...this is just too dark for me
maybe also why i don't simp for Thanatos
since i am in the minority there
I simp for Nyx
same. that whole "i did it because i love you" scene was a tearjerker
mama nyx super based
yeah i mean i heard about it, but i wasn't around for it getting all the hype and it was "just another game" from my limited scope of knwoledge about video games lol

then all the articles about the game being jacked
so i played other stuff and forgot about it lol figured i'd get it for twenty bucks once it doesn't suck any more but prob just pass tbh
maybe watch the neo scenes
theres enough games out there that arent jank to wanna do jank games 😦
Cyberpunk effectively went from over a million people playing it on launch day(steam numbers) to less than 10k in 2 days
@wintry heart I'm struggling with depression as well
It was not a big deal for me tho
Its consistently has less players than witcher 3
i mean gwent seemed fun
We don't talk about Cyberpunk
Gwent is so fun lol
The Baron quest is definitely the darkest quest or tied with another one. That and one other quest are very dark just FYI. The rest of the game isn't constant though.
eh i got it for ten bucks in early jan lol
Northern factions OP
what's the other one, just spoil it lol
or tell me what to google
i rather know going into it
so that when if the ps5 version comes out lol
Theres a few that are really morally provoking
im not worried about that
i'm more worried about graphic torture and abortion ghosts and gross stuff like that
Oh just grossness and stuff like that
yeah
like i made it to the find triss quest
got to whatever city
some girl lit on fire
maybe my sound system is too good (it isn't) but i shut it off
Yeah thats the opening cutscence in novigrad
There are 2 quests I can think of
Cant remember their names
One with "whoreson junior" and the other is a side quest involving dandelion's lover getting assaulted
It's the quest line with Whoresome Jr. You want me to spoil what it is? Or you wanna just google it?
go for it, spoil away
The best quest is with King of beggars, Dijkstra, Tasak and Whoreson junior
Actually all quests in Novigrad
i thought you were kidding about that dude's name lmao

DMd
These are not spoilers lol
Johny!
https://c.tenor.com/961T8vO9hToAAAAC/deadpool-dark.gif basically me playing the witcher
at least with Returnal, the plot makes no sense
so like i think it's super dark but
pew pew
@covert adder hello, i pmed you, please respond
i don't doubt that, my issues were above and all pretty me-specific
i imagine if it was 2015 and it just came out i'd be blown away too
Like, polish dubs?
I'll see on youtube since I dont have it installed
Almost every character is perfectly played
/dubbed , I dont know how is correct
Is there such a word "dubbed" at all?

Damn it's pretty good
I gotta replay it in polish
Same as I replayed Metro in russian

very sad. it makes me want to treasure the arcades we have here even more lmao
mostly I wish the purikura machines were still here, but those aren't sega
daw I missed The Witcher discussion hehe
I saw a discussion online about how Microsoft is going to “leave Sony in the dust” with the recent acquisitions they had, and I’m just wondering, how big is Xbox actually?
I guess they’re big in the west, but, honestly, I don’t think I ever seen an Xbox here in my place (I live in SEA, btw). Even Game Pass isn’t officially available here yet, only Singapore has Game Pass availability here. How would they leave Sony in the dust when they haven’t even covered the grounds that Sony has?
That sounds like some console war posturing to me tbh
Which, real talk, why are we even still doing the whole console war thing
Obviously it is lmao
But it does begs the question though, how big is Xbox compared to the PlayStation?
Well they have Rare, Obsidian, InXile, Sledgehammer Games, Raven Software, Treyarch, Infinity Ward, Blizzard, King, Bethesda Softworks, Id Software, Machine Games, Arkane Studios, GSC Game World, etc.
That's what I remember
Also 343 but that's irrelevant
there's been rumors they intend on acquiring a major japanese studio like square enix to be able to compete with sony on their home turf
Those rumors always pop up after the competition makes a move, I always say rumors are fake until they are confirmed
metro exodus is filtering me hard on normal difficulty
but i love it. it's like tarkov in the way that it's scary af even with humans
And the question is really, how big is Windows + Xbox compared to PlayStation. The answer is obviously way, way bigger
Good point
japanese companies aren't really prone to being bought out by american companies, it would be quite significant if microsoft manages this but it's frankly unlikely. the corporate environment there is completely different and microsoft isn't going to be able to just roll up with a ton of money and go, hey can we buy you
is binding of isaac worth it?
depends, it's probably still worth the fun for a bit but it's quite content bloated at this point, kinda to its detriment
a lot of people still speak highly of it
what games do you recommend for 10 euros? any type
Apparently Slay the Spire is a very good one, but I dunno the price (on PC)
no. .. its around 14 euros i looked it up
the master chief collection is 16 rn and you get a lot of value so
Considering some Steam sales right now:
Frostpunk, great, atmospheric survival city builder with some tough choices to make along the way. Worth playing at least once, I'd say.
Steam World Dig 1&2 - great metroidvania-like platformers.
1st Tomb Raider reboot is on big sale now, along with the 2nd one (Rise of the Tomb Raider), which would make them under 10 euros together (and those 2 are worth playing imo).
Ori and the Will of the Wisps - beautiful metroidvania platformer.
Hollow Knight if you haven't played it.
@dire condor pyre is 4.99 rn if you don't already have it
bastion is 2.99 and transistor is 3.99
team17 is getting into even more parasites
Bayonetta ($5!), The Witcher 3, Undertale
LOL
3.6b for destiny???
WHAT? Not Team17!
I wouldn’t spend $60 on Destiny
@bleak coral i feel so bad for tagging you in this one man but see it was a warning TO BE CAREFUL WITH SNORLAX
i remembered you saying you liked oshawott
and considering who the poor victim of this snorlax was
:(
thank you for the warning friend

Hell yeah
I’m not sure
I dont own the game
overcooked is not safe from worms 😭
This starts to follow a pattern, though
Looks like very few people actually agree with the scam, and those are some higher ups, who take the decision without telling most of the staff or most of it disagreeing...
I know aggro crab released a statement that I can't post here because there's swearing in it lol
i'd be mad too tbh. lack of communication. nfts
I'm so angry: I preordered Legends of Arceus from Gamestop, and the game itself hasn't arrived yet, but you know what is here? THE ART CARDS
Don't get me wrong: they are beautiful. But I want my game ;-;
Gamestop, pls: Twitter will run me over with spoilers if you don't hurry up
...and I want my Cyndaquil ;-;
But I will miss the funny Pokemon tweets
LOOK I NEED TO SEE THE DISCOURSE OVER THE POKEMON CRIES
Wait, lemme get the tweet for you, and then I'll share something I tweeted in response

delelelelele WOOOOOP
The Remaster of Life Is Strange is making me upset
The fact that games I bought in release with my own money are getting remasters reminds me I'm getting old :/
Meanwhile, anime electabuzz was literally someone who is being electrocuted in the middle of a blizzard
i hope legends is good
Gamestop pls hurry ;-;
It was only released 7 years ago
They just want to make more money
The original art style was pretty good already
Still
Good news! Apparently my game did arrive! My roommates placed it in front of my room lmao. I'm going to have to finish this lecture first and then I'm playing lmao
tbh my view on legends is if i find it preowned and cheap, then i'll get it
from what i've been told, it's basically the game to get if you like swsh and if you like monhun rise and don't already have both of them
I just wanna go back home and play more Exodus hnnngh
Tfw never ever ME3
EA was at one point releasing bangers after bangers
Hopefully they return to that since we got a new mass effect coming, new dragon age, new skate game, possible titanfall game in the forseeable future, 3 new star wars games
this channel is now basically where i go to get all my gaming news
What did you hear about from here?
The bungie aquisition was talked before sure but not the Wordle aquisition 😎
literally everything that isn't available on the switch news because i don't. keep up with news

re: the monetization topic from #supergiant-games, remember that we literally started with cosmetic monetization, the infamous oblivion horse armour. and people made fun of that when it came out, why would i pay this much for horse armour which of course is a great question. but yet we still ended up here because publishers beat us over the head with monetization until we accepted it bit by bit, "well its just cosmetic and doesnt affect the game" to "well you dont have to spend money to play this, free players still get a lot" sort of thing, and now every aspect of gaming is monetized in some fashion. we were forced to accept it until it became the norm because it started off innocent. thats why mindsets like "well if you dont like this then dont buy it" dont really work in regard to unnecessary monetization because someone will always be there to buy it and show publishers that it works
i do get that
indeed, if you dont like it, dont make the purchase but like. there needs to be more pushback than that
Monetization does bring one major upside to me, the ability for free games with a cosmetic shop. One of the games that I personally love (path of exile) is 100% free for absolutly all content (which is a lot because its ARPG, you can spend literally 1000s of hours in the game without them seeing a penny) and thats because (most) of its cash shop items are cosmetic. The only that arent will at most run you about 30$, which is the cost of a normal game. I don't defend that this is right locking a near mandatory system of item storage behind a paywall, and would much prefer that they make them free, but i do prefer more the game being free as without it i would have never played. I don't like microtransactions, especially when they are mandatory, and do agree that a lot more games need a lot less of them with a lot more force behind the push for less, but I also do enjoy games having lower or free prices then they normally would, especially as cosmetic stores do provide a easy and official path for supporting the game and its company
Cosmetics are definitly a problem, one that is unfortunatly growing, and is unfortunatly heavily linked to mobile games. I do feel that only few games should have cosmetic shops, and no game ever should have a shop that locks any core content behind a paywall that allows others to have it at the same time (for example lvl 100 characters from a level up cap being purchased in the same area as one who hasn't) and allows a benefit (cant remeber the word) over others
Hey whats up
i have a lot of conflicted feelings about mtx anymore bc like. yes these games, esp the free ones, need to make their money somewhere. but there was a time the monetization used to be more fair and now its. just blatant greed everywhere you look. of course i dabble in these sort of games from time to time but a lot of them fail to keep my interest because they're done in such a way that the player is not so subtly encouraged to spend money to keep doing anything. if i really like a game and feel the pricing model is fair and not super scummy then i dont mind tossing in a few bucks here and there but also like. a full price game with mtx in it will never be game of the year material for me ever lmao
100%
Just in case it came off this way i'm in no way trying to be mean or anything, and are probably pretty biased spending some on PoE myself, this is a very interesting debate to me
i dont think you were coming off mean anywhere :T
i just disagreed about the cosmetics point because cosmetics are literally how we got into this situation in the first place
Ah yeah, i totally get that
I feel like cosmetics are a 2 way thing
- make a cheap / free entry point and use PURELY cosmetic items, or items that only affect solo mode in a way that is not mandatory
- make a game priced however you want, and dont have a cosmetic shop
mtx are an interesting topic within game dev at my school--there's an entire class dedicated to ethics of monetization. Haven't taken it yet, thinking about it as one of my senior electives
mtx ethics is a deep topic imo
its hard to balance on the point of not making money because you have no advertisement, making enough but not being scummy, and being super scummy

just going by twitter comments, some genshin players were Really angry that it got beaten by Among Us in some category because they were promised some currency if genshin won, or something
which *waves hands says something about the whole premium currency trend
they what 😭
all I know is that a genshin fan account said that Among Us released before 2020 and so it shouldn't have been eligible for the 2020 TGA, and some replies said something about not being able to get gems
why, nooooooo 😭
genshin is, for a TON of people, baby's first gambling addiction so im really not surprised
sweats in FEH
yeah that ones pretty egregious too
I'm too broke to pay for gacha stuff lmao. I'd rather spend money on irl gacha machines
things like feh are why i wasnt sure why everyone was so harsh on unite for scummy monetization bc p much all of ninty's mobile games have them
feh, mario kart, animal crossing, they all have scummy mtx
Yep
And, like, how else are these games supposed to get their money? Is it sus? Absolutely. But you can't deny games, including mobile games, still require a lot of resources to produce
you can monetize your game without deliberately designing your game around that monetization
is the point
True, true
remember uh, which was it, shadow of war? had to literally be entirely rebalanced when they removed mtx because the game was quite literally designed around having it
I never heard of that incident. I suppose I just don't play a lot of mobile games lmao
that was a console game
...oopsies lmao
Now y'all know how much I do not understand monetization ;-;
The only monetized game I play now is Game of Dice on my phone lmao
FEH started out not getting so much backlash because spending a ton of money is "just" +2 to all stats on a certain unit, and stats on average are in the 30s-40s ish range, and a score boost in certain pseudo PVP modes (ie you fight teams made by others but they're AI controlled), and there you only lose out on a little bit of currency per week if you're F2P or low spending
But there's a consensus that it's gotten worse and worse because some pseudo PVP modes only get a score boost on a handful of units, who aren't in the regular gacha pull
So you basically got to save for a monthly banner that only lasts a week to get those score boosting units
And now there's real time PVP that if you don't have like, one of 5 select cancer units your life will be hell
If you haven't heard, seasonal and legendary/mythic banner sparking is feh pass only
i remeber, absolutly egregious
But now legendary and mythic?!?! Ugh
game passes have been such a blight on the industry lmao
trueeeeee
Didn't think this is how sparks on the remaining banners would happen😶 https://t.co/rNZ9ibRLPA
940
(for non FEH people, basically they added sparking to limited time banners, which was what a lot of players wanted, but only if you pay the monthly sub)
absolutely disgusting
Note to self: Make that as my new desktop wallpaper
Oh god, Hades being a new addition to the FE "disgusting" meme
I capped it for this very reason
https://twitter.com/GilvaSunner/status/1488555355865075722 oh good ninty going after music channels thats nice its not like they make their soundtracks easily available online anywhere, cool cool
After thinking about this a lot over the past few days, I’ve decided that at this point it’s really not worth it to keep the channel up any longer, and will therefore delete the GilvaSunner YouTube channel (or what’s left of it) this coming Friday.

Hi everyone, after the 1300 copyright blocks from Nintendo a few days ago, the YT channel received another 2200 blocks today (with likely many more to follow).

deranged behaviour, damn ninty is behind the times
guess everyone better start hoarding their favourite tunes before more channels get nuked 🙄
guess they expect people to only listen to their music while they play a game
ssbu music player
...or a subscription for Nintendo's music player on your very own nintendo switch. For only 40 bucks a month.
"Do you guys not have Switch?"
eh
15$ max
if it's a streaming service with ads or smth
if it's just a glorified mp3 player let us buy albums individually for like 5 bucks
For the wallpaper or the new addition to the Fire Emblem meme?
Fire emblem meme
Amazing
Sounds like it
Another reason to never touch feh again
Probably the wisest decision in my life
Dodged a bullet there
is feh that fire emblem gacha game
Yes

oh my sibling plays feh ,, i wonder if they know yet
i used to play feh and yeah it really went downhill when they introduced the pass
i got no hope in mobile games
man tbt when touchscreen devices were just starting to take off and game companies were trying to have fun ways of using multi-touch and gyroscope
before they realized they can remove features and charge money
that dead space mobile game tho
Lol sliding and wall-running are locked behind skill tree in Dying Light 2
they are in the skill tree in the first game too
it doesnt have wall running though, only wall jumping
But why aren't they just available by default
crane is supossed to be weak and only a newcomer to parkour
Plus it would make the game too easy
Quite interesting: https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-reveals-2022-sale-dates-and-discount-policy-changes/
This reminds me
why are console online store sales so...barebones
are there stricter rules?
Ok I just finished Metro Exodus and of course I got the bad ending
the problem with Last Light and Exodus is that you will never get the good ending on your first playthrough
So if you dont plan on replaying the game soon I'd say either check out the good ending on youtube or replay the whole game in the future so you dont get fatigued of it
So a game I donated to kickstarter 4 years ago is getting released next week
That's nice
What's the game?
Rise of the Third Power
I liked Ara Fell so I backed them
Liked the demo so I think I'll be happy with the result
oh this looks neat!
Yeah that just leaves me Eiyuden as the last unreleased KS project I've backed
Eiyuden I'm 100% sure will release tho

I'm gonna take a look at it
Idk if anyone else has gotten this sense but reading through the discourse surrounding that new Pokemon Legends Arceus game is...weird
Like, I have no intention of playing it for a while, but I never thought a Pokemon game would be the one that gets so many Discord servers tied up in knots.
what kind of discourse
(also twitter has ruined the word discourse, most of the time people aren't even discussing they just want others to affirm they're right)
for me, it was tumblr that ruined that word 😔
I've managed to stay on the sane side of tumbler
I swear if I see Legends Arceus getting compared to Dark Souls one more time.....
w. why is it dark souls
top ten messages I have witnessed in this server
We have the dark souls roll™
I've been exhausted by the Pokemon discourse for half a decade or more at this point
Mainly people getting irrationally angry over people who don't hold their opinion on whether it sucks or is really good
I'm just going with my gut and what people who like what I like have told me, in that the gameplay changes and framework are really good, but the writing is tepid and it looks like butts
But has Pokemon been polarizing for that long?
I mean, yeah
I don't recall it being that bad until Gen 8
Pokemon has been polarizing since gen 5
Ice Cream Bad
It's gotten worse since gen 6 and 7
Huh, for some reason I thought people were pretty on board with the Sun and Moon era. Maybe I just had other focuses than the Pokemon franchise up until Gen 8
Prior to that I hadn't touched Pokemon since Gen 3 really, with like 5 hours of Gen 4 to realize it wasn't my thing anymore
People are both too quick to vilify the entire title while also being too stubborn to realize it could be a whole hell of a lot better
Yeah, like the analysis you gave seems reasonable. Maybe it's just people trying to justify their $60 purchase (or their lack thereof)
But yeah Arceus specifically I've actually heard pretty universally that it improves the gameplay a lot
It's whether it looks bad and if that's enough to make it not worth the money is the hangup, I feel
Yeah, that just seems like such a weird stone to throw at a major Nintendo property
Like, I get it, but I was under the impression Nintendo fans were the least likely to care about graphics as long as the game is good
i actually quite liked sun and moon, but fell off afterwards
It's not just graphically unimpressive, it's like
ultra sun and moon were marketed as "an entire new adventure" only for it to release as the exact same game as sun and moon with a slightly different endgame
Like, framerate wise or just based on art style?
I've actually heard it runs well, which is surprising
sword & shield i never bought up and never regretted it lol. BDSP just felt like a cheap cash grab and Arceus looks kinda....really ugly. also heard it has some frame issues
Bad texture work, environmental stuff, lighting
i mean idc that much about the graphics if the core game is fun
Framerate wise is been nice for me
The models are actually improved which is great
but i expect more from a billion dollar franchise like pokemon, like come ON
Yeah, like if it's fps stuff then I get it. BotW is difficult for me to enjoy for fps issues
Pokemon needs to not be a 1 or 2 year franchise
Huh, never got much issues u less the korok forest
same, as with most yearly franchises, how can you really improve or innovate if you have to release something EVERY year
And it drops a lot there
