yeah
I'd say the only categories where it was somewhat deserved to lose (like, it was a fair game)
was Art Direction and Score
It was kinda weird that TLoU 2 won best direction tho
oh I MAD disagree on art direction and score
Honestly TGA is all about whos bidding higher lmao
those were like easy wins for Hades
yeah but imo they're equally up to it
I'd go for Hades but TLOU2 had a fighting chance in those regards
But honestly, Supergiant getting to sing with Imagine dragons was so cool
like, say all you want about TLOU2, the presentation in game is absolutely incredible
I mean...
to me*
abandoned city/woods
isn't great art direction
and for score like cmon
I just think it's impressive how much they crammed in there
The only one I felt Hades got like super robbed on was score
and I'm always captivated by TLOU's art direction to the point where I visit location sin real life and I'm like
"how would this look in TLOU world"
nah man if I had to pick one it got super robbed on it's the GotY
deserved that 10,000%
see but to me it was my GOTY and goty has typically always gone to a big game
so I didn't have any hope it was picking that one up
and for score ff7 remake won
and that felt stupid to me lmao
Also Elden Ring won "most anticipted game" of 2020
and thats funny
Actually looking at the most anticipated
only 2 of them actually came out
lol
oh wait best art direction went to Ghost in 2020
Anticapted?
I'm typing fast
wait which 2
heh
Oh sweet, botw 2
well, anticaption is about waiting, right?
true
so.. games that came out don't count, technically
well I'm saying they were the most anticipated of a year+ ago
cause they were announced long before that too
just thought it was funny that elden ring still isn't out
dang I was trying to look up nominees for 2020 GotYs and I found this really passive-aggressive passage from a Forbes article (talking about The Last of Us Part 2) "But “Best Narrative” seems like a shoe-in, no matter how sad you are about who did or didn’t die"
like, wow, that's some really unbiased writing there, buddy
oh okay I found it
thanks!
wait why did Jedi Fallen Order get nominated for best Action/Adventure
that game came out in 2019
Probably not
They just like money
EGS doesnt take as much of their money
Since much lower cut
So EGS it is
Like if you're expecting to sell, lets say, 500k games at 60$ a piece
You want to see 88% of that, not 70%
yeah but if that's the case then why are the Pixel Remasters on Steam
Much lower expected sales
the what
Selling a game on a platform is a contract
legal hassle?
Its not a huge deal
But you do have to do that
And doing it multiple times might just not be worth it
Thats my guess at least
man that is confusing
yeah it's Steam exclusive
if they really wanted money why not put it on EGS instead? Does EGS have a lower install base?
🤷
I dont think the pixel remasters are for money
At least not on PC
Those make money on mobile, if anything
this sentence by itself confused the hell out of me
but don;t they have the old games on mobile? were these even worth the effort?
The pixel remasters are on mobile, yes
The steam version is just ported over
They're probably just for the sake of being complete, or maybe brand recognition
no I meant the older versions of the game
Oh
like, I-VI
so I looked it up
and 1, 2, 5, and 6 were on mobile
but got delisted because of the Pixel Remasters
oh lol i forgot entirely about the "pixel remasters" https://gyazo.com/30920f6f1befd9648f00bda3ca90b0a8
why is 6 the only one of the new ones not available lol
why did halo infinite win players choice despite releasing like two days ago 🤷♂️
nominations are a confusing thing
They've been drip-feeding them out
New Telltale game thank god
More Persona stuff on PC
Wonder Woman game, awesome we barely had any games where she was MC
Alane Wake 2
Star Wars Eclipse from Quantic Dream hell yes!
FF7R on PC! The game looks lovely
Slitterhead, looks like Junji Ito the game
SPACE MARINE 2 OH MY GOD
Dune Spice Wars, Dune RTS is back!
Im so excited for these
Especially Space Marine 2
Those are some great announcements
Finally some good AAA games
I thought telltale was out of business?
Nah hasnt been for a while
Idk how to explain but they have been revived in a way
and Im glad
I love these guys and gals
also kek they made sonic open world
Im very sure the franchise died many games ago
🤨 sonic is still very popular, the internet saying sonic games are bad doesn't mean dead franchise
Dunno but the recent games dont seem that exciting to me
Although navigating an open world with sonic might be great
also idk who quantum dream is bc i have a very hyper focused interest in games and dont play too much as a result but it's funny you're excited bc every other person i saw lost their excitement for star wars game the moment they saw quantum dream
ive probably heard of them in passing but don't remember lol
Uh....The ones that made Detroit Become Human, Heavy rain and betond 2 souls?
oh yeah none of those games interest me
Also people prolly complain about them making the game bc they are action babies
Dont mind them
No believe me people always had something to say about narrative games like this and telltale's since "not enough action"
"too many qte's"
etc. etc.
Nothing's wrong with Quantic Dream
We at The Game Awards take a strong stance against harassment of any kind. Now here’s a new game from Quantic Dream
3275
15231
nothing?
also heavy rain was kinda boring
memes are funny tho
Ughhghghghghgjghghfhfhgh
Ok Im trying to respect your opinion
Ok fine Ill respect it
works for me I need sleep lmao
Well guess I should automatically dismiss the game then
So long narrative driven star wars game
I mean they also can't tell a competent story without messing it up somehow
Although I guess that makes it fit right in with Star Wars
ye but hits diff when a dev you were interested in turn out to be POS
Like it was all funny haha screw activision now a dev that I grew up with are just disgusting
but there's always Space Marine 2 and Company of Heroes 3 to soften this blow
much love Relic.
Im hopeful that 2022 is going to be a great gaming year
I wouldn't even nominate Mario Party as a family game. They do the opposite
And one of them is a wii u port lel
Dude behind It Takes Two is such a great guy
Im glad he got this award
Well director or whatever
But he basically calls out Oscar's bs, directs some awesome coop games.
I had so much fun with A way out.
Also no MTX and literally gives you an extra copy to play with a friend
Bless Josef Fares
the only family mario game is mariokart tbh
agreed
i liked the part where they're like "oh hey Telltale got revived btw if you didn't know". which i didn't. so that was kinda weird
Just googled it, it seems they’ve been bought out since 2019
I didn’t knew about it as well
yeah, they basically shuttered their doors a few years ago. all projects cancelled.
i didn't see if they actually fully dissolved the company or not, but i just assumed so
until now they've been cooking games big time
The wolf among us 2
and the expanse
I cant wait for the wolf among us 2, it's awesome
Good stuffs
I’m not exactly a fan of them but it’s nice to see them still alive and kicking well

activision blizzard sent a company wide email discouraging workers from joining a union
activision blizzard continues to be a bad company
bungie got hit with the same stuff https://twitter.com/IGN/status/1469351463902138380?t=mmL9Ny7bc0i7dt0bH44e5A&s=19
IGN spoke with 26 current and former Bungie employees who told stories of sexism, boys’ club culture, crunch, and more. https://t.co/WpsPVceUJY
Still, some recent employees say Bungie is, slowly but surely, trying to move in a better direction.

what annoys me is that bungie fanboys are still defending them "they're still a great company because they sold a pin with a rainbow on it" blizzard did the same, both still treat their workers like trash
I suposse this is talking about post reach bungie
yeah
I have 25 y but already learned that if a big money is in a game, then it will be harder to find good side
being a part of activision for years and staying without its stuff is hard, i guess
Oh, hey, It Takes Two did took goty lmao
Best Indie Debut and Indie Game is Kena
A friend of mine didn’t even knew It Takes Two existed before this goty lol he asked me what game is this and it’s genre
Sadge
Would loved to try it, if I got a PS
There’s only two games that caught my attention during that PS5 games reveal thing going on last year (I think it was last year, right? Lol)
Kena and Solar Ash
The GoWs and Spidermans and Horizon Dawns didn’t really strike me nor do they interest me during that moment
Dark souls is the dark souls of dark souls
Teardown got an update yay
also once again damage controlling halo infinite, game has 1 forest biome but im so sure it's gonna have a desert biome as seen in a multiplayer map, sooner as a god damn DLC
wildermyth is actually pretty fun
I've had it for a while
I got it in 2020 when it was in early access though I only have 15 hours in it. it is a pretty fun game
to be fair 50 best games of 2021 is probably the 50 only notable releases this year
since it's an absolute drought
it's just such a weird and big number
Meh, at least it allows me to see if any indie went under my radar
I know some of the titles from scrolling steam
besides the complete idiocy of choosing an "ultimate game of all time", imagine choosing the most inaccessible game out there
that'a a cringe award title
but then again nothing can compare to the TRUE ultimate game of all time, hotline miami
Speak for yourself chief :)
i meant space marine
yes. space marine.
believe me i got no idea what chaos is in the FF universe
but I do know limp bizkit is canon in that universe
it does not matter what it is
we just know we are here to kill him
and he has been waiting for us
as long as it's warhammer chaos included!
yeah lol what quantifies the "ultimate game of all time"
dark souls didn't change much outside its own niche genre
Indeed
Either we take Chaos or Chaos will takes us
Also It's kinda cool how quickly has Fares reached out the rank of mega-Auteur in the Industry
Also, God February/March is getting soaked in games I want
And when I mean soaked, I mean filled to the brim with them
Dying Light 2, Elder Ring, Jack Garland's Adventures, Total Warhammer 3, Horizon Forbidden West, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, SIFU, Stray
I don't even remember anything that's coming out
All coming in a 2 month bracket
Oh yeah Elden Ring I might get that one
my wishlist is slowly filling up with games that are finally available for purchase.
Yeah steam next fest did that for me
my wishlist is just a bunch of games I've wanted to play but I haven't had time to
I also had already bought TW3 already. I'm gonna play it 700 hours anyway so I can get the preorder civ already
Elder Ring I'll probably buy it a week before release for the same reasons
I'll get elden ring when they inevitably release at least 2 dlcs :)
I mean, Sekiro Didn't
But sekiro is an exception, and also the best game fromsoft's made
@stable kindle good call on fenyx rising, i needed a palate cleanser after a series of intense games
This I cant wait for most of them
space marine 2, dying light 2 , alan wake 2, wonderlands
and the eventual launch of '83 and Afterconflict
i have to agree with the first part
but unless you mean things like colourblind settings and environmental subtitles, which i agree dark souls is missing
dark souls is not as difficult as it is said to be
And its accessibility features - subtitles whenever someone's talking, full controller remapping, are not bad for a game from 2011
dark souls is absolutely not that hard
...hades also isn't hard though
Yeah although in this case I was talking about the February/March window which was specially Bloated of interesting games Skaraotzy
what's hard?
neither of those 🤷♂️
Specially Hades, that game is completely dependant on getting a good build, which is pretty easy after you get the keepsakes for each god
https://www.coolmathgames.com/sites/default/files/worlds-hardest-game_0.png
This one, obviously
lol
yeah it's called the hardest game ever
duuuh

but to actually answer this
I found Nioh harder than DS to be honest
oop language
anyway
ffxiv ultimates, dead cells, library of ruina
those are hard
stupidly so sometimes
The last row of SoTC is absolutely brutal
Fromsoft's games have a few specific bosses that are actually hard
Midir, Gael (as much as I hate his bossfight), owl (father) (after the first time you beat him he's pretty easy though), manus can be pretty hard
Oh I started playing this one recently
it do be hitting quite strongly
La-Mulana is also hard
capra demon
really really really really hard
Nah fam
anyways dead cells is not that bad
I beat capra in like one try without planning anything lol
how
you walk in and one second later two dogs and the boss are trying to murder you
in a tight corridor
where you can get stunlocked
Which version, cause the difficulty got dummed down quite a bit, and it's still ridiculous past 2 bsc
Etrian Odyssey can get nerve-Wracking
Can confirm
Specially the ones where you have to do your own party
Walking into the second floor and getting oneshot by an enemy goes brrrrrrrr
the dogs are easily killable though
Darkest Dungeon although it gives you a manageable difficulty level
just bide your time don't go unga bunga on the enemy
The last batch of elite missions in god eater 3 are stupidly hard
Some of the colosseum sections in crosscode are weirdly demanding to get the plat trophies
Lobotomy Corporation will throw you around like a ragdoll :)
The dlc of KH3 on critical mode is weirdly hard compared to the base game
kh3?
Kingdom Hearts 3
oh
i haven't played most of these games you're talking about
no money lol
hyper light drifter endgame is horrible
I mean you can find some of them in the seas if you know what I mean
I do recommend all of them though
ah but
linux
ah that shucks then
well no, it's actually really fun
but screw birds
yeah
I've yet to play H-LD
Cuphead's pretty hard 🤔
A Hat In Time's seal the deal dlc is really hard
Some of the challenges and stages in the gunvolt series are damn hard
And I can't think of anything else
🤷♂️
But yeah those are hard, dark souls isn't
dark souls is only hard if you don't pay attention
dark souls is hard if you are going unga bunga on your controller as if you were playing Sol in Guilty Gear into your cousin
lmao yeah
Hollow Knight may be hard. But waiting for Silksong is even harder.
Gaming is much older that it was believed. There is that famous image of Mario destroying videogames during The Great depression
Now seriously that was the year the QWERTY Keyboard was invented
1873 is when Jesus was born, no?
1873 is when John Gaming was born.
Jonathan Abraham Gaming, our prophet
I bet Jesus was a gamer
He revived a few people in the past and even himself, which leads to the introduction of the respawn system.
if jesus was a gamer more people would go to church
He needed more darkness, only had one defiance
Anyhow

dude had stubborn defiance, sadly his entire life is only considered as one chamber
just bad game design tbh
Stubborn defiance>Death defiance
he really got some crap boons too early on
To be fair, he had a griefer on his team
Also, jeez Gunslinger has 8 years already
I swore that was a 2016-17 game
the Bible did Among Us first
What I loved of Gunslinger is when the protagonist tells his story and the visitors try to continue wrongly and he corrects them and that is reflected in the gameplay
The Bible also did Tetris first with the Babel tower
I think I just found my favorite new video game
The Holy Words of our Lord and Savior
Amen
Oh I just remembered something with all the bible talk
The new blasphemous "dlc" (update) released like 3 days ago
the true true true (but really) true ending
If I had a nickel for every time in 2021 a 2d Souls-like gets a revamps for free that adds new bosses and a true ending that makes the other a side non-canon bad Ending.....
I would have two nickels
Death's gambit
Oh I haven't played that one yet
no clue my guy
yeah Tails of Iron
I almost said dust elysian tail lol
Also subnautica
I found this Soulslike that mostly seem to have gone under the radar

oh I saw that one in Horheristo's channel
the reminder of dust elysian now reminds I still have to find that one 2d level based furry hack and slash game.
Let me tell you those are some smooth Hand-Drawn animations
also yeah that's pretty well drawn game!!
you made my day with this whole bit
Jesus was not the imposter
he got ejected anyway
Man, the cringe comedy in The Forgotten City is hilarious
Like having the option to explain a Roman Priestess what a meme is
Also, it's a game about a Timeloop.
Where the protagonist starts looking at the moon after waking up next to a campfire

putting my switch away for a few days bc my index fingers both hurt from too much gaming. but i wanna GAME
no, but i’m intrigued
https://www.pcworld.com/article/559001/the-future-of-esports-is-microsoft-excel-and-its-on-espn.html
excel is so evil
Is that from experience?
yes
i hate every time i've had to do any project in excel
if you're typing in an excel box and you press the wrong button you will delete everything you've typed and there's no way to get it back
For those curious ||Andrew Won||
Finished the Forgotten City. I can't believe a dumb meme was a plot point
was that part of the original mod? sounds really odd to throw in there lol
Come on man I thought Anup was gonna win
Apparently fishing is now available for everyone with Skyrim SE
Has been since the anniversary update
But rip half the mods that update broke
the ain't important amirite
dunno i never modded the game since i got it recently
but hey at least i got a cool armor and a mudcrab pet for free from CC
Oh, well basically like a quarter of the modding library got gutted and possibly more but they aren't in the list
In Skyrim terms, that's a lotta damage
we just have to wait until the creators update their stuff
or don't
and then we'll just have hundreds of broken mods :')
https://twitter.com/CulturalLemur/status/1470032477251063822?s=20 very happy with how this turned out 👉 👈
Spoiler from The Forgotten City: ||A character that saves you with her boat and sends you to your quest on the river doesn't want to tell you her name at first, if you pry she tells you her name is Karen, the character assumes she didn't want to tell you because the Karen memes, later MUCH later you discover that she didn't say Karen, but Charon and didn't want to tell you because you are dead, and seeing you didn't get her name right she just went along with it||
Hotline Miami, Darkest Dungeon, Beyond Good and Evil, Bulletstorm, XCOM, god that's some patrician tier taste
patrician xD
ty
good lord i never expected warhammers to be so op in skyrim
like im getting so many crits
i aint complaining it's satisfying to go full nord woman smash draugr skull
Great taste fam
What's the game on the bottom right?
thank you!
the game's Deep Rock Galactic
Kinda makes me want to do a collage myself
But that's too much effort for me so I can't be bothered, good job to you mate
👍
Just make a tier list
I'd take ages :(
I can send you the template if u want!
it's easy from there, I just used wand feature in GIMP
Sure, send it and maybe I'll get around to doing it sometime
Maybe i should start learning GIMP
This would actually be more effort because you'd make me rank the games
something is wrong, haha
now that's a cool way of saying "I don't vibe with this"
This collage is neato
Well the thing is I vibed with League and HS for a long time
Until something is wrong xD
What's the matta with dead cells though?
I mean, they're not really a necessity though...
True
Which is why this isn't F tier
It's "the game did something that wronged me personally so I hate it"
All of them are in fact quite good
Firewatch included
I hate it because of motion sickness
The rest of the game is great
curious to find out what are your thoughts on Don't Starve Together exactly, Fox
anyway I very much feel the exact same way about DD and Into the Breach haha
I like DST with friends (I mean that's how the game should be played xD). It's just a bit too slow for my taste. It's hard to get friends together for a session and I feel like what I can accomplish in a session is limited.
Maybe that's because we are bad at it, we do die a lot lul.
As you can see the list is very subjective. I don't doubt more people would rank it way higher.
chrono trigger so good it was chosen twice
yeah I did not vibe with DST when I first played it two years ago but my buddy was partly to blame cuz he was not very nice about me being a total newbie lol
but recently I went back and man, it's so engrossing once you put some hours in and get your bearings
xD you got me.
I see. I have a weird mix. One of them is like 500+ hours in and knows exactly what to do, optimizes everything. Another is not the video gamer type so he just walk around picking up stones. I'm somewhere in the middle.
very valid
I haven't even played half of those lol
that's what good about this tierlist. It captures the reason why I feel the way to this genre. I overplayed games from it so like my expectations from the genre is strange and I easily see a pattern.
hmmmm very interesting
I'll add a few of those to muh wishlist haha
cuz frankly I don't think I recognize even half of those lol
Same
why is Spelunky 2 so low tho
I hate Spelunky 2 on a personal level.
oh shoot
Wok 🤝 Fox
Ranking DC low
there is lack if satisfaction progressing and your death feels honestly quite bad in Spelunky 2. You never really feel like death is "alright that was bound to happen" and more like "oh it happened wow...Back to 1-1."
well put
You really like Downwell huh
Have you heard of Hell is Other Demons?
Not exactly a Roguelite
But very replayable still
I really like Downwell. And I have! I think I got it on EGS. Will check it out eventually
I am bad with rhythm so Necrodancer is low. Also I didn't feel like replaying the game much after beating it with the few main characters.
I think you would like it. I got it from EGS, too. It was a blast. Short but sweet
Will give it a go next weekend then!
undermine :)
undermine! Nice game. I honestly loved the simplicity of it. Only real problem I had with it is the later update required a lot of gold for entry of a specific area, otherwise good game.
yeah i never see anyone bring it up, i think its pretty charming
feels kinda grindy for me bc i am just Bad At Games but charming all the same
also liked that you could skip bosses entirely for some areas with alternate entrances
You can actually skip every boss up until the last one, but then you couldn't get a proper boss reset for other? Been a while since I played, but still nice you could just skip them if you didn't feel like fighting them.
I liked Undermine's puzzle side of gameplay or well puzzle, more like resource management with bombs and elements to get more gold.
okay I wanna know what u have to say about Void Bastards haha
loved all the systems, never managed to clear a Hard mode Ironman run
Good game with a nice premise, but not that re-playable honestly. Once I have beaten the main campaign I kind of never played it again, but never the less, it has very solid mechanics and base.
Aight I've done it
I have me diamond
I don't have image perms though
:(
So ehm, how does one get image perms here?
you upload it somewhere else, like to imgur or another discord server, and link it here
I'd be surprised if a single person can tell what all of these are
sick man
Xenoblade, Cross Code, Smash, Civ, Bastion, League, Indiana Jones (?), Divinity, Castlevania, Terraria, Kingdom Hearts
Those are the ones I recoginize
Indiana Jones -> La Mulana
I did pick some weirdly specific art for some to make it harder to recognize ngl
necrodancer good, its just really hard
well i think its good
o yeah something happened last night
yeah it's good but definitely hard
I could recognise that Library of Ruina background anywhere
So wait, how did you made that? An internet template?
tier list of open world games I played
The selection was rather barebones but I did manage
Oh it's further up
.
I agree with you there Skaar
JC2's world was comfy af
The list didnt even have bethesda games bruh
Ok Im gonna improvise then
So RDR2 is S tier since it's the first open world game that I havent had a single moment of absolute dread and boredom, and the NPC interactions are just fun and so are the randon encounters.
Simpsons Hit and Run explains itself
As for Bethesda games I'd say Skyrim is a C, Morrowing is S tier, and Oblivion is C as well. Fallout 3 has an awesome world goes in A. New Vegas seems a bit stale in some places but I do give it a solid B
Oh right BOTW is pretty comfy, I do give it a B
Meh, I'll make my Tier List later
making my tier list
this has lots of games
promise you won't judge me for the game i consider my all time fav
Well that depends
you are now under oath
Anything you say may be used against you
Really proxy bot?
really?
m a n :(
was it the gif?
yes
i chose the ultimate one my arm feels like its about to combust
ok found a diff one thats just switch games lol easier to make
its biased but here you go
sorry its so small
man that never played kinda hurts
yeah,, a lot of those games just dont spark any interest in me
Ok, finished downloading the images
Now to sort them out
This is just a tentative 1.0 tho
It's fav games so I ended it in A
ffxv on s tier, mega based
Basically I'm clasifying it my S games on a subcategory
Yo I'm actually interested in asking this
Is scarlet nexus actually any good?
like actually?
Cause I've legit followed the development of that game since it was announced
and then I saw the gameplay and couldn't decide myself on whether I wanted it or not
Well. It excells in some parts and lags in other
The combat is quite good, unique and satisfying. The story is decent but meh at times and the comic strip style of half of the cutscenes get a bit grating. The characters are mostly likable.
Environments are the worst as they seem quite uninteresting
The game has two routes and it feels like they have too much overlap at times
But yeah if you go into games because combat. 100% for you
The combat is what worries me the most tbh
Cause I'm coming from God Eater 3 from the same devs
The combat is the best part of the game imo
and Scarlet Nexus looks like GE3 with none of the speed or repetitiveness that makes the game fun
Unreal Life needs more love 🥺
@acoustic stone I am playing immortals fenyx rising and just found ambrosia on the giant statue of Aphrodite and thought you’d appreciate that
what's with odyssey in not bad and ultimate in bad?
SICK
i didnt mean to put metroid dread there
imagine its in a tier even though i havent played it yet
because i don't find them fun??????
they just don't spark any interest in me
if i did get ultimate for myself i'd probably only get it because one of my favorite songs is in the game tbh but other than that i don't really have a need to play it (also the mii fighters seem really cool, but thats just because i like miis in general)
how do people play hyrule warriors aoc without having their eyesight bleed
take a rest after 15 mins
Metroid Dread great game, but bad on Switch?
My only complain of the game is the lack of accessibility features (or just more settings to play with tbh), and the somewhat long loading times
if only it had more content 😩
Same
i like it :/???
not everyone has to like the same games
you can like a game while being unable to tell whats actually going on on the screen, i speak from experience
I can surprisingly tell whats happening in aoc,
which is surprising because my eyesight is garbage
The framerate just hurts my eyes
Tbh I expect products to usually run at least 30 fps on console without stutters, well guess it's gonna be playable when switch pro will exist
Accidental placement
Oh lmao I didn’t noticed
all good
Dread was a 7/10 for me only because of the emmi and the emmi rooms
The emmi rooms gave me migraines and the emmi were too hard to melt the faceplate of.
Without the emmi I think the game would be a good 8/9 out of 10
I'd hate to break it to you, but Metroid Dread only did so well becuase of the "Switch effect", as much as I would have liked being able to play it on PC as well.
“The Switch effect”?
large install base, new first party game, etc.
Nintendo actually bothered ot advertise the game on top of that.
If I were to make a tier list, I wouldn't put Smash Ultimate near the top, it has too many fundamental incongruencies that the devs refused to address and fix.
Ultimate still has its problems but its the game ive sunk by far the most time into on switch
ik it isnt the best
I used to judge game value by the number of hours I could sink into a game, but then I learned that time sink doesn't mean quality.
I still think its quality
same for BotW, so much space where nothing meaningful happens, inherent design flaws that lead to unfun gameplay, lack of enemy variety, items > skill, the majoirty of shrines are poorly designed, difficulty option behind dlc, etc.
It just felt like the focus was put elsewhere for the sake of being different, and it left alot of padding in it's place.
okay, but I still found it an enjoyable experience
which at the end of the day is kind of the point
I played it when it came out on Wii U, beat the game, did all the shrines, and haven't really picked it up since then.
I wasn't compelling.
Metroid Dread showed me why nobody in Nintendo has parents
Samus is ||poaching all parents in nintendo||
I can't believe you just confirmed Bowser Jr. was an orphan who was adopted and that Bowser isn't his real dad.
/jk
I really wish pokemon was made by a different dev team and managed better.
This pokemon WAS made by a different team tho
I was talking about Sword and Shield
It was made by ILCA
"high fidelity animations"
I personally miss the spinoffs of the ds era
yet every returning pokemon reused all their old animations
Man, that was the Golden age of Pokemon imo
I do not get how copy/paste prevented them from making new animations.
man, sword and shield was such a bummer, glad i went with my gut and didn't buy it
How can you have the most profiable IP ever and be so lazy using it?
Because they know they don't have to be anything other than low quality comfort food that doesn't require as much investment as they could be spending.
That and the current lead refuses to expand the dev team becuase his personal preference is a smaller team.
It's a AAA studio being treated and run like an indie studio with a tight budget that's working on a no-name franchise.
As far as I remember hearing, it also has a comparatively small budget for how much the franchise makes
20 million for the gen 3 remakes, which made 400 million
Pokemon Company pumps more money into the show, toys, cards, etc. than the games, I mean
Yeah merchandising is where it's at
I think it doesnt help that gamefreak has to release a game every 2 years or so
There's a lot of reasons for the issue, to be sure
but the games and anime kick off the new generations which propell the merchandise.
Ok. This one is killing me
I'm probably foolish for Arceus having me hopeful that they're willing to take a new direction, but I still have some hope for it
Maybe, just hear me out, we didn't get a new generation every year and just make the generations have more content per game?
Licensed merchandise – $82.805 billion
Video games – $23.508 billion
Box office – $1.85 billion
Home entertainment – $148 million
Strategy guide books – $142 million
Jet aircraft sales – $3 million
Wut?
Yeah there's some branded Pokemon aircraft
Marketing!
Anyway, I pretty much agree with most of what's being said, and it sucks
Ok, But why use a plane when you can just get the HM Fly from your local gym leader?
Can you fit a billboard on your pidgey and charge people to take flights on it?
I doubt it
I do think that while these games are disappointing, they're nowhere near the realm of what I'd call bad
At worst (and generally at best tbh) they're bog-standard
They definitely should be doing better for how much money they rake in
I feel like they have a bad habit of throwing the baby out with the bathwater a bit
They throw out a lot of concepts people like
And then CoD which has 4
It's to make each generation special compared to the rest.
Like, I'm shocked regional variants managed to stick
Which is great because it's a great way to expand the roster without the crazy number bloat
But like, Megas, Z-moves, and Dynamax are all variations on the same thing that people only liked one of
Pokemon Rap, but it's longer than Pride & Prejudice
It baffles me why they didn't just keep using Megas
Cause it was the Gen Gimmick
You can't just let good features stay the same, or give 2 minutes to make sure the Festival Plaza battle rental NPC's levels scale with your rank so you aren't stuck with 2 level 50's and a level 80 going up against 3 level 80's, no, it's a social feature that will inevitably die out as people stop playing, we can't have a roadmap where single players can still unlock content from this feature years later.
I'm going to be really bummed out if Wild Areas go the same way
Out of all the tepid mire of SwSh, that's probably one of a handful of things that actually was super neat
Why do pokemon's movepools shrink sometimes when they evolve, but if they knoew the move before evolving, they can keep it, but not relearn it later?
Decidueye can't learn Roost, unless it had Roost before evolving
How does that make sense?
I guess to make it a opportunity cost thing
I mean, balance-wise, it's that yeah
Do I delay the evolution or evolve it now?
Lower evolution has worse stats
It's bad design though
I don't agree that that specifically is
It can do the move, but only if it had the move before evolving, so it's a part of it's movepool, but not apart of it's re-learnable move pool, despite knowing the move at one point.
Like, Volt Tackle is your reward for sticking with Pikachu when Raichu is stronger
That's stupid
Egg moves are stupid too
Legacy moves should also be a part of the base movepool
I feel like egg moves are something people also generally really like
But I don't breed for competitive
I just catch the things and throw them in a box
Mimic Shedinja needs entire consoles to daisy-chain up to a newer game
i like bird pokemon that are also round
only for home to permanently delete legacy moves if it's not a part of a movepool in a newer game with the warning it can never be relearned.
Why!?
I don't remember Home deleting them
I remember having to delete them to free up the slot after transfer
pokemon home is the paid subscription to transfer to sword and shield right?
Two things Pokemon always does right though, that's worth saying: banger music, and good creature design
i haven't been keeping up with the franchise all that much the past year or two
Home is a paid sub to store Pokemon that basically replaced the National Dex
Going by precedent, Glameow didn't reappear in a regional dex in 12 years after being introduced, are you willing to pay a fee to not have your childhood memories deleted if you forget to pay a subscription because you can't transfer it back out, only to a forward game, which may not support it's legacy moveset, or the pokemon itself altogether?
true about the music! absolute bangers of tracks
I also don't think they delete your boxes if you already have them stored
The fact there are 2 subscription based storage boxes that transfer and that you need them both in order to get anything from before the switch is stupid
Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's anywhere near what it should have been
Like, bare minimum Home should have a battle system
Or like, function more than half the time
Pokemon Bank was endorsed in Japan by a celebrity that her grandkids would have her childhood Charazard to play with
I remember pulling stunts to get gen 3 pokemon into the 3ds just for some of them to get stuck
but 3DS compatability will invariably be shut down before such a time, killing all backwards compatability with games before Sword and Shield, what doesn't help is that the 3ds gen 6 and 7 games can't do any form of local transfer between each other, a first in the series at the time, because Bank was a service at the time, so of course they didn't want to miss out on knickle and diming fans who would bother to transfer locally.
Eventually the isolated metas will be up to gens 1-5 in gen 5 games, gen 6 alone, gen 7 alone, then whatever comes afterwards assuming Home isn't shut down too after the Switch's online service is shut down.
i remember sitting with my DS and 3DS transferring pokemon diamond/soul silver/white 2 pokemon to x & y
ayo?
like yes, i absolute will be using that Blastoise i've had since i was 8
On the one hand, I'm sure Home will just move on to whatever console comes after that, but on the other, it really shouldn't cost money
Not for as bare-bones as it is
I was under the impression that you needed to use Bank in order to transfer up to gen 6?
rowlet, starly, pidove, swablu, torchic (though it's TECHNICALLY a chicken, but hey chickens count as birds), they're all good!
Rowlet :)
It costs money, because it's pokemon, because the overwhelming sea of casual fans will caugh up the money, and shut down any critics of the franchise.
Honestly this is all just symptomatic of the problems inherent with the always-online mentality
Even Google, a company I can't stand existing, at least gives users a number of GB in storage for free, pokemon data that these subscriptions are handling in storage and transfers are MB worth of storage.
How many scores of games that people have dumped time and money into have just shut down with no way to continue playing the purchased product?
It's robbery, but, since you want to keep your pokemon, you'll pay whatever they ask for.
Exactly
Support your local emulation experts
support physical
🤝
based
Two sides of the same coin
🤝
Rowlet was my starter for gen 7, it's my favorite grass type.
too bad GF gimped its stats in the games
absolute orb
mixed attacker, but signature move is a physical ghost type move, didn't have the Greninja statspread to support being a mixed attacker, hidden ability was bad, etc.
YOOOO
HEYYY
My favorite orb is six orbs
i'm thinking of whether i've seen one of those already
i did see a video game related one but i can't remember for the life of me which one it was
Falinks is awesome
Love them funky lil dudes
yes! i think i might have forgotten some, but these were the first that came to mind
i never played much of gen 5 for some reason, so I'm not too familiar with the starters of that gen
i think i played white 2 and went with oshawott too bc of my compulsory water pokemon choice for each new gen
otter Pokémon!! very cute
now i remember! yeah i def had this little guy
both oshawott and rowlet are starters in arceus legends iirc
so do i, i really like the premise of it
i just hope the open world is good this time
borb
where's the next console honestly
I feel like the hardware is just getting too old
open world won't be good because of the switch
the switch has one of the best open world games ever made
we’re coming up on 5 years
Open world games DO work on Switch, I’m just worried about framerates
I’ve also got low opinions after the wild area
I've found people who complain about framerate typically have eh opinions to listen to lmaoo
ooh question
Is Dragon quest a fun turn based rpg game?
yes
Thanks
:(
I just like my games to be stable
Unless the game actually runs like absolute crap, I really don't need more than 30 fps
same
I can put up with bad framerates its just the pc player in me
as long as it isnt inconsistent
i dont wanna go from 30 to 12 like in the wild area
I beat Disco Elysium the other day. Lots of fun.
thats where my concern stems from
I never had that issue lmao
Also
I'm pretty sure the only time I've had frame rate issues on switch was neo TWEWY, and it was never when it mattered lol
you are just saying buzzwords about "wah swsh bad"
if you bring up dexit I'm leaving lmao
Does anyone know any good turn based rpg?
Over reacting a bit ain't we
Turn based rpgs are very hard to recommend tbh
cause you really have to connect with the characters to like the game
imo
I don’t have a problem with the national dex
I felt it was a pretty obvious joke
Didn't translate well into text imo
The lmao sells it tbh
Also its more that swsh were bad games but they weren't as bad as people say
The hate for swsh is very overblown is more what it is to me
Have you heard of my Lord and savior "Library of Ruina". Side from my obvious response though, try the Persona series, XCOM, or Divinity 2.
i just beat it yesterday as well! played it for 16 hours straight until i got to the end... its pretty great. i definitely want to play it again, maybe get all those achievements
I want to see how strong I can get
With 3 base fys I got to 7 at the end. Gorbacy's Brew is a permanent alcohol buff.
I got 4
oh, huh. i turned it down lol. i guess ill have to think more about minmaxing if i want to beat hardcore mode
It seems like an oversight to be fair
That's a lot of free stats
I had 4 electrochemistry which gave me 4 uses
Talking about SwSh, I was thinking if the same studio makes the games every year? It seems that way, right? With how the games were still using old assets and how the national dex omitted certain mons, the first time in Pokémon history ever
I was thinking if GameFreak would just let another studio try their hands on the franchise, basically making it like how CoD was handled, with Treyach developing a CoD game for a year and Infinity Ward every other year, basically giving more time for developers to develop each games
Idk how open Japanese studios are at with letting another studio take a jab at their franchises but it does seems like GameFreak needed more leg room in development time for the recent Pokémon games they came out with
The diamond pearl remakes were made by a different studio
do a yoko taro and call platinum games to do gameplay
Ah, again, I’m late to the party. Didn’t knew about it
This should be the first Pokémon game that aren’t directly handled by GameFreak, right?
Afaik its the first main series game not directly handled by gamefreak
Yeah, sounds about right
If only he'd done this for the drakengard games too lol

Stats from Switch. I'm surprised I played Crash 4 so much... it was alright but I was kind of disappointed with this game... Nothing will beat the original trilogy, I guess.
Did you find it?
I got the initial stats and link to more in email, but it's probably possible to access them when you login to Nintendo Account on PC (couldn't find where exactly, though...)
i cant find myself in a situation where i pour so many hours in a game on the switch, since well it's not my main console but it's impressive
i wont even try seeing my stats tho
other contenders were botw and acnh
they were the only 2 games i had until last christmas

Jesus, finally
wait, this game got finished??
Today yes
thats funny, this is the second game on my wishlist that was out of early access today
the first is one hand clapping
so is this like boss rush game?
Funnily Enough that one and Aeterna Noctis were also in my wishlist
It's Half Shadow of the colossus, half breath of the wild
You have Free roam climbing, gadgets for movement, feeding bars, Normal non-boss enemies breakable weapons and 8 colossi bosses
So it’s like solar ash?
dragged myself to play FEHeroes live PVP for one single reward and somehow won all my matches lol
I've heard Solar Ash compared to "PS2 era platformer" and I was pretty immediately sold
Sounds about right
On my Switch though, D3 actually clocked in at highest play time, 525h
Hades at 510h

Oh NIce
VS gaiden HSoS (the one currently being translated) is getting remade and renamed to VS2, and the recently announced VS2 is getting renamed to VS3
Hnnnnnnngh Stalker 2 gets NFTs
i will cry now
Still playing it but pirated. Truly disappointed in that decision.
I swear I knew something was wrong once they announced it for Xbox as well
in other news
OMG SPLINTER CELL IS BACK
but it's gonna suck. that's all
has anyone played inscryption?
looks dope but i wanna know if it has replayability value
Now that the recent update is under way yes it does have replay value.
I looked through my nintendo switch year in review thing
and the hours spread over the months is a direct correlation to when mhrise had updates lmao
They are passing on the forbidden knowledge
tbh whenever my cat types something I send it. I mean she did go through all the effort to put it there
We'd like to share an update from #FFXIV Producer & Director Naoki Yoshida on the ongoing congestion, additional game time compensation, suspension of sales, error codes, and our upcoming plans. https://t.co/3WcXX6eVkf

is there a secret to play spider solitaire?
specifically 2 suits
I swear I lost more than I win
sekiro is easier
Doesn't it throw impossible ones at you sometimes
I mean yea, sure. But at some times, I had collected like 2 sets
and I still lost

every time you start over, game generates completely new random setup for you
and bc it's random, you're not guaranteed to win
even though rules are the same
which means, spider solitaire is a roguelike
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1599780/Afterlove_EP/ looks like a pretty interesting game

Summer 2022
ok first of all why FF7R is literally 80 euro on the epic games store
lmao what
I can buy like 4 sizable games on steam for that price
at least that's the price converted from my currency but it's very close to 80 euros
but yes exactly
like why it was like 60 euros on ps4 lmfao
It has dlc included, but well... Game pricing and being Epic games exclusive is a big nope for me
tbh dlc shouldnt even equate into it
many goty edition games and ultimate editions or whatever cost 60 euros at some point
So it's around 70 bucks here on epic. Which I thought was the same pricing as PS5's. I just checked at my local game store, physical copy is 60 bucks.

to be fair i never cared when they pushed the 70 dollar price tag for consoles but now that it's coming to pc and SE are the first to adopt it, I'm absolutely angry lmfao
but then again obscure and niche games, old games and indies are never 70 👍
I mean, we can always get around the 70 bucks price tag on PC
