Doom eternal has tighter gameplay and imo a lot more fun
Doom 2016 is more of classic FPS fun, like you had a bad day, you pop this bad boy and have fun
so I guess 2016 first
I wouldn't play Eternal on switch tho
Because of gameplay difficulties or performance?
Controls and difficulty.
Also
I beat sekiro

Yay
I skipped a certain orangutan tho
In my defense, I'm an Indonesian. I'd go to jail for killing an orangutan.
@stark kraken bruv my BLC copy arrived and they didnt include a cartirdge for the first game, all of them are digital kekw
i feel kinda scammed but it was cheaper to get them likes this than on the eshop
I saved 20 euros damn
Big brain savings, for sure
But, yeah, all digital even on physical purchase is meh, ngl
I genuinely feel there’s no use selling your game physically if it doesn’t come on a cartridge, even when the load times are slow
Yeah same I saw unboxings that had only the first game on cartridge
but I think those were when they released
But honestly Im glad I saved so much
Just imagine what you can do with 20 euros
That’s another indie game!
Imagine how many copies of Fallout 76 you could buy with 20 euros
why would you?
Ey look Returnal FINALLY adding a Suspend feature
todd, is that you?
ok so borderlands 2 runs great on the switch
just wish there was an option to use motion controls only when aiming
Can anyone tell me who I need to give nectar to for what keepsakes im missing? I'm missing the one above the Dionysus one and the ones on the third row, and all the ones with the giant locks on them
if you want to chat about hades, you can use the hades related channels like #h1-discussion
Coolio, thanks!
I wanna try Slay the Spire. Since I like deck builder tabletops. Anyone has them and can recommend beginner tips?
Yeah bl plays fine on switch unless you start purposely making lag
Like trying to spawn Vermi or whatever
Man, DD2 is brutal
You want some tips from stream?
Basically use friendly skills
So stalling wasn't stopped. It was encouraged.
I recently used those tips and liked them: https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/slay-the-spire-tips-tricks-7027
This seems to be good as I'm scanning through comments: https://www.reddit.com/r/slaythespire/comments/p82xs4/new_player_here_any_tips_for_beginners/
But in general - keep the deck small, around 15-20 cards, happily remove starting cards when given a chance as most of other cards you'll get are better, don't necessarily try to build decks around synergies, as it might not be worth it, and avoid "?" in Act 1 as the rewards are usually not worth it there, but in Act 2 they usually are.
Oh try to keep the deck small you say?
Is the shop the only way to remove cards?
I didn’t realize that big deck sizes can negatively affect your game so I’ve been picking up as many cars as I can
There are certain "?" events that allow you to remove them as well. And there's at least one relic you can get that does that on pickup.
And yea, keep it small. I mean, it's up to you to see what works for you, I was usually playing with decks that had around 30 cards and was fine, was able to beat the game with each character, but started trying small decks and they work as well and might be better for higher Ascensions.
Ascensions?
Difficulty levels
Ah
Guess I’ll figure them out as I go
So far I’m only using the ironclad
I haven’t tried the Defect or the Silent
It makes sense to focus on one character to see what card combinations work for them. Then move to another when you unlock all cards or simply get bored.
But most important tip is - take your time. Look at your cards, look what buffs/debuffs enemies got, calculate the damage you might deal, plan, don't rush. It's easy to loose when you're not paying attention.
Haven’t touched this game in a long time wow
Ironclad becomes much better once I learn to value Exhaust cards and the corresponding Powers.
Offering is a solid pickup that I used to avoid just because it costs HP. It's so good!
And Corruption is an A+ tier card that I also never picked before.
Oh man I'm loving DD2 from the streams. It's really hard to hold out but I'm still waiting for Steam release.
Price isn't my concern. It's the UI and mod support that Epic lacks, especially a game like DD where I think a lot of mods will be made.
Meh, I don't play mods so I'm indifferent
Good for you, I guess
Most of the time, you don’t really need to take out a lot of cards. Yes, try to keep your deck small, but it shouldn’t be a big priority. It’s better to have more draw power instead. 30-ish card decks should still work fine
Prioritize your money in the shops for relics instead
Relics are the most powerful tools that will eventually shape your deck into a win
cleared deltarune chapter 2, it was really good! enjoyed it even more than the first.
If you need deck building tips, check the StS wiki for the characters. Those contains some meta choices for synergy decks
Eh I still bought it on egs and I mod dd1
It cant be modded for a while anyway. It wouldn't even be worth it
Its early access and people learned from the BC update that updates can break mods
It could be early access on Steam or an independant platform and still not be worth modding
Not until 1.0
i think you misunderstood my point. it's not about getting mods now but getting them in the future.
EGS afaik doesn't update on their workshop or the likes support.
also some of the UI stuff and features are missing.
it's between getting a more "complete" experience on Steam (literally as DD2 would come later on Steam) and getting an exclusive first look on Epic, i'm for now holding on to the former.
exxxDddeeeee
Ubisoft blackmailing it's players now?
nice, I cant wait to answer them that their last good Far Cry game was Blood Dragon lmao

This game seems interesting
The bros over at Funcom that did Conan Exiles will totally make a Dune game
gosh I can't wait
How in god's name
rip i thought solar ash would release today but i just looked it up and it turns out it got delayed til december
Voice of Cards is gonna release today, tho
looks like a really interesting concept but turn based rpgs arent really my cup of tea
struggling to get thru persona 4 rn even tho i really like the characters
I like P4's characters but I can't stand everything else
Ran around like crazy
why do they care how much you play? you already payed them your 60$
I love offering. It’s such a clutch card
Good point
If you don't play they can't sell you DLCs bro
wow looks good. hope the translation reads nicely
Sony emailed me to congratulate me for getting platinum trophies; I guess Ubisoft's doing the same, just negatively
ah ofc
i just noticed dismas can't wear a mask
ITS SUPPOSED TO COVER YOUR MOUTH AND NOSE, DUDE
apparently fc6 sends you emails based on your progress and stats and such, not just if you didn't play the game much
I guess the intent is to make the big villain guy feel more "real" cause he's mocking you or congratulating you or whatever
whether it succeeded
ehhh
some people are insecure about their facial features. Maybe he got an ugly lips. Who knoes?
hehe nice
i'vr never thought of that lol. and tbf i don't think i've ever seen ugly lips in my life
Is it normal to reach act 3 on your fourth run? For StS
okay so
I just realized
I beat sekiro without medicine potency

no wonder I chug gourd like friday night
I know cause I used to be insecure of mine.
true
Just going around cheesing as many things as possible before having to turn it in
P5 ending tho
That's a build lmao
Consider overcharming? I forget all of the equipables in hk
I bet you could do a fair bit of content with a full idle/just avoid hits build
Interesting though
how the hell did anyone manage to play borderlands or any FPS on a controller
Im genuinely struggling
The motion controls turned out to be too low sens for my taste
even on max sens
my gripe is that I cant move the camera precisely enough horizontally for longer distances
I find aiming to be ok most of the time for BL on the Switch
At least it's very good when sniping
I have almost max sens on everything imaginable iirc
maybe my camera stick sens is not high enough
maybe that's the problem
anyways im still surprised motion aiming still isnt a thing for console shooters widely spread
like damn the bow motion controls in botw were really good
Yeah, it’s a Nintendo thing, and on mobile
Yeah but I think it's better than aim assist
I mean Xbox never had gyro in their controlers so it wouldnt make sense for multiplats
It’s better to use what you’re used to, hence Xbox and PS not having motion controls because they don’t really “need” it
I meaan PS5 has it
At least that’s the perspective of it in players mind
might as well put that feature to use cause the others such as the touchpad are just gimmicks
oh yes remember when ps4 had like 5 games that used the touchpad?
Didn’t knew that, I only knew the adaptive triggers
Pretty cool then
Xbox said it has plans to add Gyro sometime
Yeah, motion controls are pretty cool for games that use it nicely
Maybe just maybe motion aim will become mainstream
It’s not only for FPS
Xbox Elite controllers gonna be even more expensive
also my sister wants super mario maker 2, is it any good?
Bad online, cool levels
Ok so it's not 60 euros good
Mostly because bad Nintendo online service
Well, I’d say Mario Odyssey is worth $60
I genuinely dont even know what to get for the switch
Mario Maker? Well, it’s technically endless with all that level making
Im more and more inclined to get an use new 2DS XL
and just mod it how I want
Or I can get SSBU
I mean that's fun to play with someone
mario kart 8 is lacking a ton of content but i still managed to have fun in school breaks or free classes
I never had much interest in Nintendo’s own games tbh
I mean, I am interested in FE3H and Pokémon SwSh, but the prices though
at this point Im just trying to find the console's worth
$90 for the whole game plus DLC pass
I hope my sister is at least having fun
Well at least it was a really fun christmas present for all of us
My wishlist atm is probably SSBU or Ring Fit Trainer
ring fit trainer looks super cool
but i rather save the money to get a nice fitness bench
They have way less of a chance to survive a death blow than your characters. I agree the game is much harder than DD1 though. My main concern is character relationships. They seem to hate each other for literally anything. You killed an enemy? Hatred. You got a critical hit? Hatred. You healed them? Hatred. It's madness.
I already talked about it on other server
Losing positive pips is 10x easier that winning negative pips
Over time filling the negative bar is an inevatibility
In other, as macabre but cuter, news, Bad End Theater finally came out on Steam. Visual novels with very short playthroughs (5 minutes), but over 40 endings, four playable characters, lots of good art and music, and a cool mechanic where, when you don't play as a character, you can choose which traits they have.
so
I went ahead and try "cheat" mod for sekiro's NG+
it just turned enemies to base game
ngl
It was boring
so I uninstalled it
ff7 is kinda wack ngl
the remake or the og?
i've played neither yet (tried a bit of both though)
the og kinda stresses me out bc of how quick you have to decide your moves
the og
oh I've been playing it recently what's so wack about it
You can turn off ATB to have a traditional turn-based JRPG
oh damn really?
I mean not everyone is into JRPG's
and Im inclined to say same, never understood what made FF7 so special
i had no idea, thanks for letting me know! is that an option on the PS4 version?
It should be in the settings menu, it’s been there since the initial launch of the game way back then (not a feature included with the modern ports)
It’s more about new tech back when PS1 was first launched, and nostalgia
Soundtrack + context of the game's release was also really important
As it is also the “first” FF to hit it big in the west, that also contributed to it being so nostalgic
Technically, not the first FF to hit the western audience, but it is the one that really hit it big
Yeah
And while I think FF7 is massively overrated, it's a good game lol, can't really deny that
I did replayed the game a few years ago, and the first thing that came into my mind (looking at it as an adult in 2019), the translations was wack lol
And those graphics, really didn’t age well
FF7 you gotta see it in context
Search the ffvii section
i dont even remember much of the old ff7, played as a kid and didnt really understand story. turns out, i heard the story is hard to understand for most people lol(translation problem)
the experience itself was pretty cool though
pre rendered scenery is cool
hope "resident evil inspired ps1 graphics era with prerendered 3ds backgrounds game that actually has a deep meaning about drug abuse" becomes the new "earthbound inspired pixel art game that is actually about being depressed"
The new Undertale-Killer
i also some of think ff7's story themes are still as relevant today as they were back then
especially when it comes to criticism of large corporations destroying the planet as a result of their greed and making people's lives miserable as a result
Yeaaa ive started playing ff7 recently and its kinda hard to follow
But overall ive been enjoying it
But then you leave Midgar like lmao
Like I’m sure it has relevance further in the game
I haven’t played it in a few weeks since i got bored when i got cait sith =3=
the thing that really stuck with me is the reveal of cloud's past. it was mind boggling (because i hadn't seen anything like that at the time)
Yeah: Morally grey protagonists, the protagonist backstory being a lie, one major character dying out of nowhere, a scope never seen in 3d games before.....
All of this is trite NOW but back then was innovative
ever met someone who would spend a year consuming dozens of movies, books, and video games that bears the genre of cyberpunk, just to make 10-hours review video for 2077?

i instantly disregarded cyberpunk when i found out it wouldnt be the deus ex of the new generation
then they also completely stopped marketing it as an RPG
and another mistake was releasing it between the new gen switch
like damn just wait and release for the new hardware
when you release a game on 3 platforms but it doesn't work on 2 out of those 3
pretty much
waiting would also have eliminated the extra hassle that they have to deal with optimizing it to PS4 and Xbox One
i wonder why they didn't choose to switch to next-gen when they realized how poorly they ran
or maybe it was too late by then idk
it's a tragedy, imagine if they actually stuck to what they promised
from what i've heard they still haven't fixed those issues. they tried and fixed some, but others still remain and new ones have been added through those patches
and by that i mean the early promises of a great rpg that could be compared to deus ex
COMING WHEN IT'S READY....
aka "we have to release it now even though it's broken, LET'S GO"
the direction clearly shifted to appeal the mainstream
sadly
they should have stuck to the full rpg roots, maybe this could have been the game that got the mainstream into deep rpg's
specifically this aspect they showed off
they wanted the 100+ million userbase of PS4/Xbone
this thing alone is more interesting than what we got
My bet is they’re being pressured to released it as a last hurrah for last gen consoles, like how TLoU was for the PS3
Now that I think of it, it kinda makes sense
also i think i have an idea why they scrapped the backstory feature
maybe they just wanted to shove keanu reeves everywhere lmao
V really isn't the main character, Johnny Silverhand is
hey gotta milk that license
ironically, the very thing the game criticized ended up killing the game
it kind of reminds me of the Sword & Shield Pokemon games
where the champion Leon basically does everything you usually do in these games' stories
like who is the protagonist here???
imagine how much of a comfort game cyberpunk would have been god damn
a game about a piece of media criticising capitalism pulling every classic capitalist trick from the giant capitalism book
no one's free from our overlords sadly
if only they at least had multiple apartments to buy and move into, garages and such, like in GTA Online that would have been so much fun
Just peak cozy
why can't they both be main characters
And if you could customize said apartments and cars even more so
wish they made more cozy games like this, where i can just sit inside, browse the net, drink something, watch TV, take a shower, like in GTA Online or other games
they can both be, what i'm trying to say is that i felt the story focused more on johnny than it did on v. i expected more focus on their connection and growing relationship as both main characters, but i feel like the developers preferred to focus more on johnny and just have v along for the ride
yeah i guess i kinda see that
at least you played the game
but that's also kinda dependent on you, you get the choice multiple times to block johnny off, but i feel like it's really johnny and V's story. johnny is always with you ||except for the first act|| i think it's pretty balanced even then johnny doesn't show up when you're talking to other characters like hanako or takemura allowing them to build their characters without johnny obscuring their character and personality
johnny usually follows up and gives his opinion on the interaction instead of during the interaction ||except during river's quest, but river suuuuccccckkkkks 🤮 ||
@floral warren i know you played 2077 whaddya think?
hey honk
sup berry
long time no see ;)
long time no see dude
It's as much V's story as much as Johnny's I think. You can pretty much block Johnny off during most major story moments, like Tapeworm, and can also not do his quests, which results in you two pretty much disliking each other. Which then is reflected in the ||Mikoshi|| scene.
Johnny's the brain parasite trying to take over you, and consequently, your story, which you're trying to fight against. IMO at least.
eh well okay, V is your own character, your own creation, your own way into Night City, into Cyberpunk 2077, it's first person POV to engross you into the world of the game, Johnny Silverhand is a deuteragonist in the game, just like hmmm: the Transistor and Red i guess? it's like both show up in the game and they kinda complement each other
DD2 feels pretty good
well, for now in those big story-based rpgs devs have shown more certainty when making written protagonists, rather than blank "can be whoever" ones
like, Geralt happened to be such a character, with story, personality and behaviour that you can follow or neglect
while V has less story in the past, and mostly unknown personality.. but is the one who is being controlled by us
HELL YEAH
Lorg bunger
No More Heroes 3 is so fun
bunger bunger bunger
a bit late but I played BL2 on PS3 and Psvita
PS3 was fine
ps vita however
was oof
at launch, it had framerate and performance issues
I could barely survive flynn

people who play FPS on controller scare me
Hello there
ahhhh
I was thinking to drop Sekiro ng+ after 2 attempts at ||great shinobi hoot hoot||. Then after, another 2 attempts I beat them
Knowledge is a powerful thing
And muscle memory

bahahah this is just pathetic
out of all the 3 holiday shooters only infinite is doing great
I never thought Id see the day of 343 actually doing something decent
HUH??????
Yeah it's horrendous news
Tried the Metroid Dread demo today, it really is good, damn
Part of why it feels better than the classic Metroid I’ve tried on the NES and SNES is the overall better movement
Once your muscle memory kicks in, you pretty much flying through the levels. It is so smooth
Not as hard as I thought it was as well, it’s pretty easy for a newcomer such as me, at least in the demo
it felt a bit linear, to me, but maybe that's just for the beginning
oh there's a demo out? def gonna give it a go!
Weird but highly recommend picking up the full game. It's great
the best feeling is finishing Hotline Miami 1 and 2 then seeing how easy every other game is
also Dread no way is as bs as Zero Mission's mother brain
Dread easily competes with Super for the best Metroid game
Super has a more interesting emphasis on exploration and a more interesting world to explore, but Dread while linear is fine tuned to hell and has the best movement/combat dynamics of the franchise
Boo
i cant tell if this is meant as "boo" as in disapproval or "boo" like a ghost
controllers are meant for third person view action games
i think ghosts usually say something like "eyes up, guardian"
speaking of, Destiny plays great with controller
can't say about Halo, haven't played
but everything else i've tried is not playable with controller
especially after Destiny
also, platformers with keyboard are ok
yeah platformers on keyboard are fine tbh.
that's how i play most games growing up. parents never bought me a controller xD.
i did not know the taste of a joystick until i was already a man.
Lul, DD2 sells 100k copes already
Waw
100k my bad
I played a few fps games on controllers before. It was fine
It's entirely what you grew up with
I guess comfort plays into it a little bit, but there is an objective loss in control from mouse to controller with FPS in particular. E.g. if you want to look left, then right, on mouse, that's basically a free motion, you can do that in the same amount of time that it would take to look in any direction. On controller, you have a bit of delay from the joystick going back to center and then the other side, and then for your camera to pan to the intended angle. I guess with enough skill, you could probably amp up the look speed to basically replicate a mouse, but I have to imagine aiming with look speed that high is basically impossible.
Sure, but at level most people play at that's simply not going to matter
Johnny Cod playing on their Xbox with their buddies doesn't care if using a mouse is technically better because for them, it won't be without an amount of practice that would push it from casual pastime to hobby with actual effort
You see a lot of the same discussions crop up with arcade stick vs pad
playing fps with a d-pad
Golden eye on n64
ahhhh
To think that people actually have played FPS games with arrow keys before WASD was a thing
Just a random thought I had when I saw FPS on d-pad lol

One of the most beautiful games I've played
Isn’t this a mobile game first? I think I remembered seeing it on the iOS App Store some time ago
It is beautiful, yes
Yup, just searched it, it’s $5 on the App Store
Not too far off from $8.50, I guess
tfw you've played on arrowkeys so long ago that you've almost forgot how to play with them
had to remember a bit, that jump is rshift, and interaction is enter
and sprint is nothing, there was no sprint back then mostly..
thanks to that model, now i find it hard to play on WASD instead of ESDF.. with A for interaction and lshift for crouching.. so yeah..
It's entirely what you grew up with
seeing things like these.. i wonder if there is a good ending there
it's one of that games my friend could be interested with, but is hard for her to handle sad or even bittersweet endings well
The latter
beat sekiro at NG+, alongside a certain orangutan in 4 attempts
considering I didn't beat that guy in base game
that's pretty good
grats!
thanks
No I was thinking to do it in NG+
But
I wanted to fight dad

Maybe...
Should I do it again
Also I wanted to fight the final boss again
Cause I was thirsty

lmao
dani back at it again with another original game
hm yes the funny youtuber
I wonder how we view the old fan hades feedbacks now with power of hindsight.
Because some of the DD2 feedbacks are rubbing me the wrong way lmao.
hard to say when we dont have access to the old feedback channel anymore huh
Man, in DD2 there is this quirk that is absolutely bonkers
That puts the character in front at the start but gives them positive tokens for attack and defence
I got it in Dismas and I Point-Blanked Shot my way to victory
Also I wonder how long it will take for them to add the corpse models
The Placeholder Tombstones look quite jarring in 2d
Only 1/5 chapter is available
Yeah And I gues is the Five Stages of Grief
I hope it's not because that's really cheesy
i'm probably late to this party but
now not only denuvo will cause your ac game to run like a 1910s T-ford, but also the processes mining bitcoin in the bg
As if they didnt do it before
quick reminder if a game needs a launcher it's just because they wanna mine btc on your pc
applies for steam, epic, and especially those f2p proprietary launcher games
Also implying you would even buy an ubisoft game
Let's be real they are beyond salvation
Unless! They make a Chaos Theory remaster with RTX
Speaking of which should splinter cell remain dead with dignity or revived
i don't think i've bought a ubisoft game since....uh.........ac syndicate?
i think that was the last one i purchased
then the whole scandal came out with harassment in the workplace and i said i'd never buy a ubisoft game again until they fixed that mess but since they never did...here we are
though i get the feeling i'm not missing out on much
I only bought Siege and boy do I regret it
the others were free tho
Played syndicate and gosh was it stupid
Lul got more than 1000 hours on Siege
Ewbisoft
Siege made me realise how much better CSGO is for me
All this hero stuff aint for me
In CSGO I have no one else to blame but me
is it a video game? no. but it's still a game so i'm posting here
has anyone else gotten that quaint DND ad on youtube? the one where someone with really nice hair immediately opens with a near textbook definition of what DND is
every time it plays for me it gives me the same feeling as watching someone get spotted in skyrim
Do you have evidence steam does that? Because I've literally never heard that before
Considering the reaction to anti-cheat measures and the like I doubt something like that would sneak by unnoticed on the bigger fish
...so anyone have any idea if FF7RE is coming to pc? Cause i thought they said it would like..a long long time ago but i havent heard anything about it since
Most of the times believe it or not, games aren't mining coins, it's just devs being very new to the whole thing so they don't know how to cap CPU usage on computers, so it goes up to 100% in usage.
Ah yes, good ol' "don't attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by incompetence."
so what, fallout 3, a game from 2008, mines bitcoins?
nah not exactly, i meant stuff like war face war thunder warframe etc.
those sure as hell do
also death.
pov: you got no friends to go out with in quarantine
So I discovered something in sekiro
If you block
Your posture regens faster
That uh
Could be useful on base game
And ng+

warframe absolutely does not mine coins lmfao
it uses a separate launcher because it can be played outside of steam
also like
every mmo in existence
Untitled FPS game
Source please
I doubt there is a source for that...
Because at best you're making unsubstantiated claims
When in reality iff they were mining BTC you would absolutely notice the impact on your hardware
Not only that BTC would be an awful coin to mine in this manner purely because BTC is mined much more effectively and efficiently on ASIC's
@ocean iris
Ofc not lol
I mean, it's fine to not like so many launchers, but they're still not mining
Ye, pretty much that
There was this one game on steam that got pulled because it was crypto mining but that's about it
You ever played metal gear rising? Helicopter boss battle
It's actually one of the worst bosses there
Cooking Mama Cookstar intensifies
You fight helicopters in cooking mama?

I can't remember which boss in mgr was a helicopter

It's a boss thats actually just a regular enemy
Inscryption looks nuts. But I don't have a pc to play it on
What do you mean you dont like flying enemies?
Also I hope the funny Untitled game will also carry over the AI of FEAR too
I guess we don't speak about the accursed helicopter fights in DMC 2
It was more of a miniboss. Dog level I think
by what i've seen that one in mgr was good. second good was heliboss from hl2
though now i can't really say since when boss helicopter became a meme
Heli boss in MGR feels like a skyrim dragon to me. Sure you can use RPGs.... but in a hack and slash game? COME DOWN HERE YOU FLYING FIDGET SPINNER.
The heli boss fight in Half Life 2 is truly satisfying
After all these moments of terrorising you
and then in mgs 5 you are the heliboss
the duality of man.....

also its not confirmed yet and was posted as a leak but supposedly word on the street is the leaker is a respected person in the fortnite community but jinx miiight be announced for fortnite this week sometime
if that winds up being true its very interesting how much riot has put into marketing arcane bc like. theyve never done collabs with other games im p sure? 🤔
pubg hasnt officially announce league/arcane either but like. if you know league you can see those middle silhouettes are undoubtedly jinx and vi, which makes the other two caitlyn and jayce
still waiting for ruined king 🥱
its still in the pipeline
just would be nice to get some sort of updates for it, of course
if they follow most of battle chasers' formula than the majority of dialogue should be voiced too, which means a game full of laura bailey miss fortune
but even airship syndicate's social media is quiet so like. who knows whats going on....
me thinking just now: lol speaking of ruined king remember a year ago when i only cared about that, the card game and kda and somewhere between then and now i just completely plummeted into the hell that is caring about league lore as a whole haha how funny [honks own clown nose]

League lore is the biggest rip off, I love when the champions were people who signed up to infinitely die so they could prevent wars lmaoooo
(I love league lore I just wish it had more bearing on the game)
why though, moba arent a good vehicle for in depth storytelling as it is, which is why riot is moving away into other projects, like multiple other games and arcane
the old summoner lore could only move the game so far lol
idk either way the champs are basically barbie dolls i make kiss for my own whims and personal amusement within the setting of the world [takes shyvana doll] this is mine now, dont worry baby we're getting you out of demacia
I've only played A Hat in Time for 3 hours and I love it
i bet half of it is like evading smoll enemies LOL
Trying Tomb Raider 2013 for the first time
very fun game the problem is it pains me to see Lara being so weak :(
felt
hat in time is a gem
Wdym by weak, I'm curious? And btw, if you'll like this one, you might consider Rise of the Tomb Raider on sale as well, as it's bit better in some aspects (especially exploration), but I wouldn't bother with the Shadow one, unless you was really hooked by the story and want to finish it. I wasn't, didn't finish Shadow, got bored with the gameplay (the views there are absolutely gorgeous, though).
Also isn't she weak only the first 2 hours?
By the second act she's killing by the dozens
I mean I was always used to the badass kinda Lara
By weak I mean mostly she doesnt do flips lmao
That thing was so awesome
Heh, true. She's still pretty badass imo :)
yeah, i mean it's more grounded
i'd take this kind of lara all day over the 2018 movie though
god that movie absolutely blowed but im getting off topic right now
also god damn since when did this game become survival horror
||tfw waking up above a pile of guts||
TR always had scary moments. I'll never forget ||the freaking T-Rex|| in the original TR1.
lmao exactly
honestly i kinda want more tomb raider, because once i will finish rise and shadow ill sure be craving more
but then again i can just go back to underworld
underworld has in my opinion the best design in the series
it has that timeless feeling, like it doesnt look dated at all due to it's artstyle
you ever just take all your rareish games and just... admire 'em
like i'm just sitting here looking at my ds pokemon games and feeling proud of myself lmao
I forget if I played that one. I do remember one where you have some terrifying diving parts
And you get to use Mjolnir
Im still facepalming that even tomb raider fell for the open world as a standard meme
Not everything has to be open world oh my god
Didnt find any grindy parts to progress the story anyways so that's good

...
I am enjoying it very much. Great storytelling, not too hard.
Doesn't the narrator gets grating after a while?
I think it’s fine and we’re about 10 hours in iirc. Haven’t gotten to the point where I think he’s annoying, I just listen to him reading the lines :P
Didn't know people love the game this much

bruh
rise of the tomb raider is free with amazon prime
but i aint got that
well crap, guess i can wait bit for it to get resold cheap as hell on reselling websites or just find someone with that thing to give it away for free
Combat is nice, exploration is okay, the puzzles are ok, the plot is... there.
i mean i'll just wait for the end of the month to grab it for a couple of cents on resellers
there's also control ultimate edition very cheap but i got it on epic games
and there's squadrons for less than 1 euro
anyone played star wars squadrons?
Finally cleaned my SSD (C)
My biggest game on it is now CSGO which for some reason it's like 30 GB
should i get tales of vesperia if i prioritize smooth combat? saw some people online saying it felt kinda clunky?
Yo humble bandle has a nice sonic bundle atm
for 1 euro you can get like 5 games and a dlc
about time i find a bundle that is actually good
yo anyone want Sonic Adventure DX? I already have the game and I got a key for it
personally, the combat feels very dated if you compare with more recent tales games. story and characters makes it a fan favorite though

This game gives me the vibes of Trivia Murder Party from Jackbox except it's more sinister

The first DLC is alright.
If you want a challenge it can give it to you. The level it adds are great. The challenges it sets out for existing levels is however quite something so if you want to play that be wary.
The second DLC is decently good. Challenging and interesting, adds nice stuff to the mix
hmmmm
it's not on discount rn, I'll think about it
idm some ramping up in challenge. did some time rifts, reason why I didn't do all of them is cause I'm too lazy to find relics.
Hello All!
I need to talk about Castlevania...where are the fans
Recently finished Castlevania 1-4 and Bloodlines.
during last month i was trying to beat 1st one, but the reaper boss is too strong for me
especially considering it's hard to get there with full health in the first place
ofc, i could use savestates, but i have a standard.. a game should be beaten legitimately at least once
@twin yarrow the 1st game is broken in so many ways I don't blame you haha
I definitely used Save States and I plan on going back to play my favorites without them.
I just want to proclaim loudly that Castlevania: Bloodlines is close to a masterpiece.
I will say that people hyped the hell out of Super Castlevania and it was definitely a let down
Worst music up to this point and pretty bad platforming.
Fun fact, old games are nonsense and you don't owe them a damn thing
wdym
Not always, but often times older games were intentionally designed to be difficult in nonsense and unfair ways to stretch game length
Either to prevent you from renting and beating them in a single rental period, or in the case of arcade titles, to explicitly eat your quarters
Or, alternatively, to sell the strategy guide
that is true, it's often a case
at least there weren't any open-world shenanigans with towers and camps and stuff
That's not even an issue of padding, it's just poor gameplay (after the millionth time)
Nowadays we have more of a collective awareness so it's shifted into more insidious things, like tweaking drop rates and resource gain to push MTX
Do you want to grind, or do you want to pay 4.99 to not grind?
it's especially absurd in singleplayer projects
i was never alive in that period but what are some examples
You see it a lot when games were ported from Japan to the west, because rental wasn't legal over there, apparently
Just from a quick search of regional differences:
Ninja Gaiden 3 (NES) - Limited continues, enemies took more hits, no passwords, you're sent to the beginning of the act (not level) when you use a continue (NA compared to JPN)
Contra 3 (SNES) - Limited continues, true ending only on higher difficulty, no cheats (NA compared to JPN)
Contra Hard Corps (GEN/MD) - One hit kills (no life bar), Limited continues, etc. (NA compared to JPN)
Rocket Knight Adventures (GEN/MD) - NA version is much more difficult than the JPN release (yes, was watching the DF)
Streets of Rage 3/Bare Knuckle 3 (GEN/MD) - Bosses have much more health, difficulty levels increased (JPN normal is NA easy), enemy damage scales with difficulty (NA compared to JPN)
The classic Resident Evil titles, the Lion King SNES game, Ecco the Dolphin
One of the porting studios, Working Designs, reportedly tweaked a lot of numbers alongside butchering translations
let's not forget as well, that back in the day playing NTSC versions was 20% harder
right i barely played most but yes some of them are absolutely BS
meanwhile eu versions: probotector, shadow warriors..
tfw pirates got the most profit, playing in 50 FPS and original japanese versions
well, little to nothing was clear, but who cared back then, plot can be made up from what's happening, right
just spam start till it begins
Castlevania 3 was made more difficult in the US and it got a gimped version of the soundtrack. This difficulty increase was to get players to spend more money at the arcade.
the US version is junk in comparison
anybody ever had that experience.. when you absolutely sure in some kind of memory, that keeps events or things that never happened or existed
im asking bc i was sure for long time that Toto - Africa was a part of GTA5 soundtrack, but it has never been.. and i haven't played any other parts except SA
Mandela Effect?
something simiar, yeah

Anyone bothered to see what's the deal with Netflix's mobile game streaming stuff?
Also heard R* wants to remaster RDR1....Supposedly. I just hope it's fake I rather just have them port it to PC
Literally can't bring myself to care about Rockstar remastering and re-releasing games over and over. Sucks to be the poor creatives over there who go to bed dreaming of a new IP.
Or maybe they get a big enough bag making new flying cars every month that they don't care.
Its a pure money grab on the part of rockstar imho
Especially when the originals are all perfectly functional as is
Anyone liking how different the relationship system in dd2 is from Hades'?
In Hades it's like a meta thing. You build relationships permanently over time
Which works because you are immortal and always returning home
In DD2 it's meant to be annoying when two people fall in love
And its temporary and can always change
For example I had two heroes start Tumultuous, eventually had that purge off and they became Amorous mostly for one tough boss where the resistances buff from positive relationships saved my man at arms, then things got messy at the end boss and they fell out of love, became Hateful, and the Occultist died from the effects of his own heal at the very end when difficulties were gone
There’s a board game of Skyrim coming out next year, 10 years after Skyrim’s initial release
Wow
You know what, maybe I should try Skyrim
okay now Skyrim can be run on anything, even on a board
lmao that's funny
Has anyone here played blasphemous?
aye not me
There is a darkest dungeon board game that still isnt done lol
I have, it's very good but I didn't really feel compelled to seek out the stuff like the hidden ending and whatnot
Although I may go back to it now that the free DLC stuff is out
I didn't play it but it looks pretty cool.
Tho I tend to drive away from games that have too much ..."horror visuals" xD
I'm hyped for DeLorean :D
Hm, it's not on the list, but I saw it in some news, looked confirmed...
it has the god damn Honda Prelude YES
I gotta grab it sometime
FH4's setting didn't stick with me
Although it was great playing it with a steering wheel
the problem is I gotta fiddle around with it in XInput or whatever thing since some buttons are literally hardwired to do the same thing as the pedals
It got the Lotus Evija, but no Lotus Esprit. Truly horrible
what.
forza horizon 5?? i feel like they just released 3
Funny thing, a friend bought a gaming laptop recently, just for Forza Horizon 4
Not 5, but 4
yikes
i wish wheels with clutch pedals were actually affordable
jinx fortnite real.... it should be noted riot has never collabed with other games prior to arcane, which is why the fortnite and pubg collabs are noteworthy in the first place (even if i do not care for shooty games lol) https://twitter.com/FortniteGame/status/1456297574164537345
We can’t wait to see Arcane Jinx jump off the Battle Bus! Welcome to the Island 🏝️
2806
19234
she fits in though, at the very least
Not the weirdest Fortnite Guest Character that's for sure
oh absolutely not. if one league character had to go into fortnite, jinx is def one of the top picks because her theme fits so perfectly
i remember hearing about it
me, remembering that first reveal of fortnite save the world trailer back in 2012 which was alongside showcase of Bioshock infinite gameplay and MGS V hospital scene showcase.
played it at someone back in 2017
was kinda fun
wish it got as much attention as the battle royale
honestly i think fortnite would be better off as a different type of game than br or stw (basically zombies)
spiritfarer needs any autosave
this is the second time ive lost data from an unexpected error
I feel that
Good lord yes please
Especially one with those sick Honda seats that have fake velvet material which is anti aderrent so your ass doesnt fall over at tight corners
Also did she actually say that in the trailer since I didnt watch it
Ok watching the gameplay preview and I actually like it
There’s a game called DeckRX on Kickstarter right now. I had my doubts at first but then I played its demo and, OMG, now i NEED it 😱 😂
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/deckrx/deckrx-the-deckbuilding-racing-videogame
I can't believe that League of Legends has the audacity to straight up copy a Fortnite character and puts her in their game. Riot should be sued for this gross lack of creativity, this is what you get when you sell yer tegrity to Chinese investor, you inevitably start to copy stuff. Fortnite did it first. For sham, Riot, for shame.
i mean besides the irony riot was never that original besides their lore
league of legends - dota
legends of runeterra - literally every card game (i dont blame them it's hard to make a card game that doesnt get compared with something)
valorant - csgo x overwatch
teamfight tactics- this one's interesting, dota underlords was released 6 days earlier than this but let's the be honest the original one is chess
but hey at least it's finally called riot games and not riot game
We all stand all the shoulders of giants.
cant wait when riot will make a singleplayer game
(never because they never make any money)
well, they are not making singleplayer games themselves, but Riot Forge is a good step forward imo.
though the delayed Ruined King Story has me worried
squints. anyone comparing lor to every digital card game is smth someone who has never actually looked into lor (or card games in general) would do bc there are all kinds of card games that all play very differently. lor plays closest to mtg, which, thank god, bc i have played a lot of card games and thats more what i feel at home with
i respect LoR because of its monetization scheme
not my cup of tea but i think that's a great feature of the game
the only thing I've spent money on is event passes and game boards bc i literally get enough resources through just playing that i can make anything i want for decks and i don't mind making purchases bc i enjoy the game and have sunk a lot of time into it 🙏
which is how monetization should be imo
i have played stuff like shadowverse where keeping up with meta is basically nuking your old decks so you can make new stuff. never bothered with hearthstone so i can't speak on the gameplay itself but the horror stories abt monetization and staying competitive are easy to find there. or i can ask fox lol point being that you don't earn remotely enough through just playing to make decks, which to me is a failure of the game itself. shadowverse had very pretty cards but :/ what an absolute drag to play if you weren't putting money into it
speaking of
I love that I now can launch Epic Launcher to launch Riot Launcher to launch League of Legends Client (which is, ehem, garbage) to launch a different game (Teamfight Tactics).
inb4 they made this the free game instead of something else
Also LOR playing similar to MTG just proves what I said, everyone will say "MTG but LOL!"
(which is already true since it's launch pretty much)
not really. speaking strictly in terms of digital card games mtg is not remotely the top as far as how played and well known it is. it is the most popular card games as a whole that tons of people have never even played
So, I decided to replay Sekiro
Now I had a new Laptop
God, the difference is astounding
I don't need 10 tries for each boss
the point is mostly it's dumb to compare things like that. it's not any better than someone calling a game a pokemon ripoff just because you catch monsters and battle them. there's tons of games that do that, it's a genre. multiple games can exist in a genre besides the popular one, it doesn't mean they're all the same
Now it ACTUALLY runs decent
Poggie
I just Left it before ||Owl Rematch||
Also LoR and Magic really don't share that much DNA
If anything, LoR is more similar to Hearthstone
Why yes GTA V is my favorite car game now
It may not have the custom liveries of FH but I love the social aspect
ok, what's wrong with imgur embeds?
Darkest Dungeon 2 folks, was wondering. How good is it that it's my first run and|| I am on my way towards The Mountain without anyone dying.||
the first first party
Oh right
plague doctor, grave robber, highwayman and man at arms.
MaA Dismas Grave robber and PD
As long as you have them healthy enough for the FB it shouldn't be a problem
theres no mo fb, is meta now
btw, somebody, don't remember where, said that DD2 is a roguelike unlike 1st one, so one should be warned.. is that so? i thought 1st one was a roguelike as well
and if it's not, then are the changes big enough?
Different types of Roguelites
While DD1 was a marathon, DD2 is a sprint
DD1 was about slowly building your heroes and Hamlet to eventually overcome each of the dungeons and bosses
DD2 is about a smaller run where you have to reach the mountain and start from the beginning if you fail
With some meta progression in the middle
Dismas just doesn't want to die. 30 crit while in Death Door.
welp they finally died.
Is dd1 an rpg then?
Never played the games but they look interesting
It is a Roguelites but one with much more empashis in the meta progression
It is very forgiving and you cannot truly 'lose'
honestly highlight of my first run is how these two turn around
that's like start of the journey and the end of it.
DD1 is a roguelite the same way XCOM is.
In XCOM you can lose tho
I guess.
Though on Stygian+ you can lose.
You can technically lose lol
In dd1
Like if you get screwed and have no money/no good units so the run is basically dead
Happened to me a couple times
Had to restart the file
Love the new five classes presented for Elden Ring. You have:
||-Soldier
-Knight
-Nordic Warrior
-Barbarian
-Blindfolded guy dressed with a burlap sack and a cartwheel as a choker.||
Elder Ring? More like Elder Bling
We've been over this xcom is a roguelite and portal is an fps
I think that's definitely a subset of the genre
Stuff that's more focused on the macrogame elements than a single-run structure
Darkest Dungeon, Invisible Inc, XCOM (on the fringe), that sort of thing
Star Renegades as well
Which is very good highly recommend
stella i love you
I regret holding a Text Twist 2 session yest.
The game is about making words with a group of letters. If you make a word containing all of the letters, you move on to the next round with a new group of letters.
I streamed it to my friends so they can "contribute"
thing I regret was telling them I would only sleep if we couldn't continue to next round.
50 rounds.
over 2 hours of text twist.
probably the thing I like most about DD2 is that it serves as its own separate game rather than just a replacement to DD1
you could bounce back from basically anything in DD1, even if it costs you several hours of throwing people into the grinder
even if you had no money
Unfortunate news for FFXIV players
Two week launch delay
i know. xcom is a rougelite, so is DD
Major update for you guys today...
Take a look at our ⭐️ BRAND NEW HUD! ⭐️
#screenshotsaturday https://t.co/3jQq1DclPP
This game is looking so good
really hope Zagreus or Madeline end up as playable characters
@polar dragon https://gyazo.com/c4475da39cd15e9ded497aba9d50691a how we feeling
the amount of ziggs hate on my tl the last two hours is unreal
this Worlds is weird, really high quality games
but the teams I root for usually loses
really, that's interesting given ziggs lost the last game xD
thats why theres hate
most of my tl picked dk
the moment ziggs got locked in people were saying they were gonna lose lol
yeah
funnily enough i was supposed to be at a watch party
i thought it was tomorrow xD
imagine my surprise when i opened twitch this morning
whoops
i still dont care abt esports but i sat through match 5 bc i was eating breakfast and it was just. very depressing. that ziggs pick bc ziggs did NOTHING all game. showmaker overextending and costing dk their entire team.
woof
i think edg got every dragon lol
she is the new nidalee, throw a thousand bubbles of course some will hit
but then the casters are like
wow she is sooo good
bro i bet the accuracy that game was <10% xD
also like. dk with that yasou top first game
i was outside feeding animals so i didnt see how that went down but what lol
yasou top.... they were really counting on winning worlds and potentially having yasou as a skin option huh
they lost that game btw
overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer
i know. i was one of those clowns
i got my semi finals picks right lmao but lost the finals
the one person left in perfect picks lost it in the finals too
semi finals knocked out 2 of the 3, prob t1 picks
dk? i take it this isn't donkey kong
so.. i've asked AI to draw "Who's that pokemon?" and it made this
it seems familiar, but im not sure
its asriel dreemur on a chicken body
you can call them donkey kong if you want
though their real name is Damwon KIA, a League of Legend professional team.
still cant believe gen g of all teams was able to get 2 games off edg
https://medium.com/@Brayll/statement-on-worlds-2021-media-access-from-jacob-wolf-and-ashley-kang-adf707b0c0c3 also bruh riot banned all journalists except lpl ones
[literally any big name video game company]? Making shady business practices?
fixed that for you
i mean we saw things like cdpr disallowing certain kinds of media coverage just in the last year to control the narrative just prior to launch
wait cyberpunk was last year right
okay yes
i have no grasp of time anymore 😭
still upset cyberpunk didn't become the deus ex of my generation
guess games that actually require a bit more of thinking don't sell as much
yeah.. remember how it turned out with Prey 2017, even though the game itself was great, it was not successful
making huge singleplayer games became too hard
in multiplayer ppl mostly entertain themselves
Prey was pretty good, loved the setting
These thinking man's games always kinda had a shtick to it
facilities
I mean it already is just not in the way people wanted
I still remember the character background customization thing they showed off
I never looked too far into it because I don't trust CDPR to make a game I like
it was kinda playable tbf, Skyrim was not much better on launch
but still, plot and gameplay have weak parts
lots of.. weak parts
Morrowind is a legend
The world made it bearable
Skyrim is just good
My gripe with oblivion and skyrim is their generic worlds
Morrowind had actual variety and a very other worldy feel to it
as if Tamriel wasn't just a normal earth like continent!
My favorite places in that game were the ashy lands near the volcano and those Dunmer temples
Then the north islands with those pterodactiles
I gotta get back into it with OpenMW
as soon as you arrive, you understand that this is not an ordinary game
you get dem papers, get released, and that's it
go, do something
I appreciate the fact they just throw you in the world
try to hold a weapon in left hand and attack, here is a larva on a hill, try it
28 stab wounds!..
dumb me the first time I playes I didn't know of Silt Striders
I just walked following signs
also found a random mage and killed her and got her stuff lmao
Yeah that's quite an adventure if you are a cheapskate
Vvardenfell has been recreated in TESO very accurately.. you can recognise same roads, same views, same buildings and creatures
even that hill with(out) larva
even those signs near roads
can't say the same abt Skyrim though
except maybe Solitude
Skyrim is justa snowy land with no alien flora and it upsets me
it has level of coziness, but yeh, it's pretty normal
also, only after living a bit story of 2nd era, you realise how screwed up the Tamriel is in TESV.. world really is coming to an end
it can be felt everywhere
alas, it also has that strict narration, with markers and what not.. you don't have to guess, where you should go and what to do, like in Morrowind
guess, it was uninevitable, when worlds become more complicated and get more details, stories become simplier and more linear
so cyberpunk lost some alternative heads and tails
that's how AI sees "Morrowind", btw
while "Skyrim" looks like this
as they say, feel the difference
God I love those AI images that are made to screw with your memory and senses
Cant wait for the Allied Mastercomputer to take ovet the world at this rate
YEAH
2023 can’t come soon enough
Gaming "Journalism" moment
They don't even play the freaking game. They rank the Musketeer at 14/15 and the Arbalest at 7/15.
They are LITERALLY THE SAME character, how do they have different ranking. What???
gaming journalists are great for being completely worthless lmao
i like finding articles ranking shiny pokemon because it's such a den of stupidity. someone literally went 'most water-types get purple, that's boring and repetitive' then ranked wailord as one of the best because it was purple.
Man, this article reminded me how much I miss the houndmaster in dd2
gaming journalism died with 1up, in my opinion
that crew of writers, at its prime, was phenominal
aesthetic 😩
thats why
yk whats funny is that abomination isnt even on the list
nor is antiquarian
i dont think grave robber is either.....
Cause those came two came later
Actually it would be cool that if the Musketeers reappears in DD2 she stops being a reskin and has her own unique kit
yea itd be cool since i always took musketeer over arbalest since i like the design of musketeer more :3 just its kinda hard to have a completely unique moveset unless it gets reworked fundamentally
I've discussed this in the DD Discord, but it's pretty apparent that the guy who wrote this did not play the game. The Musketeer vs Arbalest thing aside, he also wrote fundamentally wrong things in the guides. For example, he recommended a class exclusive item for another class, mistook basic game mechanics, etc.
But those are whatever. The most egregious thing is that he published not one or two but at least 5 different articles on Darkest Dungeon, all with failing quality, including a "guide" to beat Stygian, the hardest mode in the game.
Dude is a fking menace
I'm always amazed at the speed people put out these guides tbh
especially if it's larger websites and not hobbyists or people who are generally very active within that game's fandom
i love how you all are so surprised by the fact the journalist didnt play the game
i know it's a common thing with game reviews because they tend to get review copies pretty late and usually can't finish the game before launch, when the review needs to be out
but like ...if you're writing a special article on a game without having played much of it. though i guess the person themselves didn't have much choice other than "hey write this article, need it in next wednesday"
There's a streamer who does bad dd article reviews
Well I'm not surprised if they do a review.
This is a guide, a different ball game.
It's because they played like 8 hours of a game that requires a lot of hours to really understand
cough 1500 hours
And the dude spit out 5 different articles not one. It's a repeated thing
Jester being low is funny because he also has some braindead stuff
And then some advanced stuff no one uses like Solo
And neither are bad
yeah that's what I meant too
Yeah i got you
Like the value of accuracy cannot be overstated in dd. You need like a total of 120-130
People love Leper, but he starts with 95 on Chop
guides are a different thing entirely, often requires quite a bunch of in-game hours
Yeah
