it should exist, tbh. and also not determined by devs
probably by some independent group
That would require Steam to put actual effort into managing their platform
which will never happen
Well, I guess that’s where the problem is then. Not the entire problem, because it doesn’t solve anything here, but, it should help to curb down people’s expectations
well, in the other hand you can always check on "how long to beat"
you know, i think that time for available refund should be fixed. 2 hours is too much for small project like this, and too few to big games that are supposed to last 200+ hours to know everything important
The issue isn't that people are disappointed and refunding it, it's that people are just blanket refunding it regardless because Cool, Free Game
Steam could always just pull that info from that how long to beat website though
meanwhile EGS, giving games for free forever
Eggs didn't even have a refund policy when it started and that's worse tbh
Yeah, this was the other issue I was thinking, that game probably got viral in some discord servers and everyone rushes in to try and then do the refund trick
It's also frustrating the number of people who are like "but people like it, isn't art for the sake of art enough?"
Uh, no, bills exist
People gotta eat
Yeah, Steam probably have to give a bit of a leeway to their refund policy just for these short games
you know, even though i don't want to defend piracy, but even getting a cracked version to try first is not that insulting and derogatory as refunding a complete game
I would agree with that Volus
They don’t have to change it for everything, just a separate section for short games
It's the difference between just not giving someone money, vs giving them money and then snatching it out of their hands
i see there are lot of things to considerate:
-maybe you bought the game expecting something longer, and even if you finished it you felt like you overpay the game, then maybe its not that bad to refound it
-in the other hand if you liked it and u refound it because "free game" then yes, its terrible wrong
Ye if you go into it knowing its a short experience and refund it, its wrong
and yes, different "refound time windows" could help, but i dont see steam working so hard to do it, because looks like a simple idea hard to implement
But its basically impossible to know that, since this is a small game and prolly doesnt have that many reviews online
I just took a look at the game on YouTube. Feels like PT
well, in that cases the devs should put an "estimated time to complete" in the description
I guess that justifies the $10 price
10 dollars O.O yes, looks overpriced, here in argentina is cheaper
It’s available on howlongtobeat, and there’s playthrough videos on YouTube dating since a month ago
Dev also seems to have a small following from his previous projects
It looks good, ngl
Seems reasonable to charge $10
sadge, t1 will still be at worlds though.
well, maybe, looks overpriced to me, because here in Argentina 10 dollars its a lot of money 😦
send help hehe
don't you have local currency option?
yes, here its like 1 dollar that game
but i refered that 10 maybe looks like a really high price because we earn monthly like 280 dollars
same here
luckily localised prices exist, otherwise gaming would be a very expensive hobby
where are you from?
Russia
although it applies only to Steam and MS store, for PSN prices are still high as everywhere else
Same with Nintendo eShop
yep, Nintendo has always been something for elite gamers here.. so things like Dendy existed
thats why gamepass is something beautifull 🙂
im playing free months with the crunchyroll promotion and trying to get more free months with windows rewards
This is like living off of market coupons lmao
How I wish the eShop has more rewards for people who buys games there
well when you live in south america you learn to survive hahahah
@polar dragon wow fnatic look so strong

i've 100%ed the google doodle

add guns
The plot couldn't have been more tightly closed
But... It has guns already.
It's a bad idea to use them but they have them

Mhm
won't lie, that latest Metroid Dread trailer looks really cool

WoolieVS has an excellent video on fan projects that I can't link here
alas
The sentiment boils down to "Don't talk about it until it's done, you will be C&D'd"
What’s a nice twin-stick shooter game that is not super hardcore and easy to get into?
this is actually something that's being discussed on twitter just recently as well in regards to fan content. the gist of it is that jp fandoms have an unspoken agreement with ip holders to not draw attention to themselves, or else ip holders will be forced to take action and take things down. they are well aware fan passion is what drives content and keeps it alive, but essentially the moment they're aware of x thing then they're obligated to deal with it.
the whole convo was started by... some sort of fan translation project? idk if it was for an anime or game or what, but from what i understand a translator quit doing translations and then reached out to the company to ask if translations were allowed, and of course they were told no. so it sparked a whole discussion about "do not ask about these things, do not draw attention to it, of course the answer is 'no that is not allowed' but so long as the companies can claim they aren't aware of it then nothing will happen"

No More Heroes 3 is out and I can't play it until I finish my job search
but the soundtrack is out and sounds smashing

Artist: MEEBEE & Tony Astro
A track for the Rank 9 Boss Gold Joe. MEEBEE (Dj Abo) worked on Travis Strikes Again, and Tony Astro is a music producer who is a fan of the No More Heroes series who got to collaborate in the game. It's very cool to see Grasshopper having collaborations with fans to deliver some great tunes

I'm excited for NMH3. Travis Strikes Again had a wild story/script
I only just started to play it

Does anyone one "Rising hell" on steam
I played the prologue/demo and really enjoyed it but it gave me a terrible migraine cause no option to turn screenshake off lmao

hope theres actual gameplay, im pretty excited for rocksteady's game
Do game trailers ever give gameplay anymore
you people should compare 2001 E3 to 2021
it's truly depressing
and not even because of the pandemic even thouugh it's way cooler to go in person there
but the lineup and everything is such a downgrade
Luigi's Mansion, SSB Melee, MGS2, GTA 3, Silent Hill 2, Halo CE, Ico
I know there's Halo Infinite but nothing tops CE in terms of mystique and uncharted atmosphere
my NMH3 has arrived
....but I'm at work
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
I have it
on my hand
but I can't
AAAAA
hollow knight 🤝 dark souls
hitting every wall in sight in case its a fake wall with a ton of stuff hidden behind it
You realize the pandemic had a huge effect on what was produced as well right?
Like most game companies have had to work from home and did not have the required programs and stuff to work at their best
It's not that because previous E3's also sucked
Although some had some cringe iconic moments which made them entertaining
To be expected
Well guess Im getting it on a sale then
it isn't a very long game but it is super good
I just want Dread mannn
That won't come till two months from now
But Im waiting when it's out and see how much content it has

epic
So uh
Started NHM3
Died to first boss twice
I really need to get rid of hades timing lol
Dread is probably going to be similar to other Metroid titles, where it'll take between 3 and 6 hours on a first playthrough

im digging the low poly art style
I think my favorite aesthetic is "low fidelity models/textures, high fidelity lighting or physics"
See Valheim, Octopath, and Sea of Stars
yee i cant wait for games like "last night" or "replaced" to come out
prodeus has a cool style too but i dont really like boomer shooters
Last night is most likely a scam or it got Star Citizen'd sadly
i checked the discord of it recently, the developer said it got delayed cuz of covid and funding issues, but he's at a good point atm and it'll release in 2023
Yeah sounds like the production has been a disaster anyhow
But hopefully the game ends good
What Kickstarter game came out great?
I can think of Darkest Dungeon but what else?
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, FTL, prodeus?
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/shawn-mendes-boards-legendarys-life-is-strange-series-as-executive-producer-exclusive-1235006211/ also the actual f***? how is this still a thing

my expectations for the adaptation are low as per usual but it'll be interesting to see where the adaptation goesd
ill be cautiously optimistic if last of us and resident evil do well
but still theyd have to ||both endings|| or something
I want No More Heroes 3 😭
what's preventing from getting it?
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
forcing myself to find a better job and studying/projects to put on my resume to help with the job search
want it soooooo bad 🤣
There are a lot of really cool settings that could be set in an rpg or something but nah, let's just keep doing medieval fantasy
Egypt
It is a pretty overused setting tho
Theres only so many games i can play with the same knights, spells, dragons, etc
As a Forgotten Realms lore nerd I have to agree
It allows for literally endless possibilities and yet most DMs choose to stick with medieval European settings
I still like it though!
ye ig after a while it kinda feels bland to me
Titan Quest?
Oh, you’re talking about JRPG lol my bad
I just googled Glory of Heracles up lol
i very vaguely remember owning that game briefly and trading it in lmao i didn't care for it
yeah art design for Glory of Heracles was good, the game was awful lol
sometimes i look at the games people talk about in here and i wonder if THERE IS something horribly wrong with me
why..?
Totally normal then
doesn't mean there's something wrong with you lol
I don't think my preferences align with most of what's discussed here either
i see like all these like games that people would typically consider people who like video games to play and im like "ah cool" and then i look over and see that i have over 70 hours in miitopia ..
i think thats why i feel like i dont fit in
I think it's all good to have different tastes in games, especially considering how different it can be, as an artistic piece or product to consume. There is no real qualification for people who enjoy games really, it's just a great media with greatly variable things to enjoy from.
yeah whatever you enjoy is good
My only problem comes in if you then attack other games or players for liking what you don't lol
Not saying you do just that's the only time I have a problem with people lol
i have 400 hours in dynasty warriors 8, you're probably fine rofl
I have over 157680 hours in life
i have over 700 hours in skyrim
4% left after I can finally stare at Geralt of Rivia's sexy pecs, apparently it even includes a game called the witcher 3
man, i have 640 hours in mhgu and several thousand in pokemon for shiny hunting alone. you're good
how do i have 300 in rise? thats scary
I have like 200 lol
I put abt 100 by the first big update
Oh, I heard about that game. Isn't that that weird Gwent Spin-off?
https://www.gamesradar.com/uncharted-collection-pc-leaks-and-includes-all-five-games/
saw this in another server
if its true... hopefully more playstation exclusives are coming to pc in the future
Oooh, interesting!
Thronebreaker
Cool game
Meanwhile, I’m back at Slay the Spire
Bought it the second time, on the Switch now
Everspace 2 demo is out now, I'm absolutely loving it.
I believe it was recommended here before, but it can't be recommended enough, I think. The exploration alone is great.
I have 260 in rise 450 in gu and don't wanna look but a ton in sw/sh
and thats just my switch lol
Yeah i agree with Everspace
I find hilarious how the game going from a Roguelite to an RPG makes sense in universe
not people not getting i specifically pointed out my dumb hours in dynasty warriors precisely because that series is such a "you either love it or loathe that it exists" kind of series 😭 that was the point lmao high hours in pokemon or skyrim or monhun or whatever is well accepted opinion
I like DW
i enjoy koei musou a lot but i do acknowledge they are dreadfully repetitive, which is also like... part of their appeal too? like it's something i can pop on and turn my brain off and just go rack up thousands of kills on a map, it's soothing. but it is a series that gets scathing criticism for that aspect, on top of ridiculous monetization, and the fact the series itself is so stagnant. it's hurt me a lot to see what they did with samurai warriors 5 :/ not even the smaller roster but like... not much has changed overall, and they're literally reselling the exact same dlc they sold in sw4/4-ii, which are like.. 5-6 yr old games. just. it's disheartening lmao bc omega force is capable of more when it's not their ip, stuff like hyrule warriors shows that
kinda makes me dread the upcoming tourabu musou cause i can't help but think, gee how much is it going to improve on every aspect of mainline musou, and never let mainline musou ever see changes and updates like these
Dw is a very very popular series?
and I'd argue that there is a lot more hate for people who play pokemon then someone putting hours in a musou
pokemon is also a vastly larger fanbase, so you are going to see more of that. musou games in general are more niche than pokemon
if you have a larger sample size of course you will see more of the bad
i dont think that really takes away from my original point that someone having hundreds of hours in something like pokemon is generally more accepted than something like dynasty warriors :)
Ah you wanna feel persecuted got it lmao
no???
the thing i was originally replying to a sense of feeling like not fitting in here for putting a lot of hours into something like miitopia while everyone else plays "cooler" games
maybe like. take what i said into context to that rather than put words in my mouth but aight
How good are the anime spinoffs of dynasty warriors?
Some are good some are bad

do not do that. You will not get anything out of the game and you will just be extremely confused. Play the other nmh games before you play the third
but have you beaten em
yes

do we really trust reviewers and game journalists
Nope
As someone who has experience in reviewing tech and writing reviews, no

Still, just the hands-on impressions so far already paint a pretty picture
Really, the only concern here is that controller layout

just found out about this game
the setting is very intriguing tbh
sure looks interesting
Me: that game looks interesting
Game: Wishlisted the 16/4

It's that time again. I finished an RPG and have to choose the next one
That's a wild take
If by similar you mean cartoonish... I guess???
TSA is so divisive, but holy crap its writing as Suda talking about his mental health during the previous 5 years... it's wild
TSA? like the airport security people?
this is such a common occurrence with me and indie titles lmfao
sometimes, it's best to disconnect with your friends /j
So, Shadowverse got an anime. And now, that anime has a game, a card game RPG like the YGO WC game on the DS, I guess
Didn’t even knew Shadowverse even had an anime
My friend tried the demo and streamed for others to watch.
Pretty hilarious for the wrong reasons.
If it’s anything like YGO but with Shadowverse, I guess it’s fine
Heard Shadowverse was big in Japan
Not much anywhere else though I think
No it's fine. It's just shadowverse but everyone shouts "ENDO TARN" or "DOROW" every now and then. We were laughing about the setting mostly.
Just like YGO then lmao
Man, that takes me back lol
If you’re comfortable, could you plz share all the games in your wishlist? Seems like you know a ton of upcoming good indies lol

Lucky
Anyhow, got 3 games installed and ready to play but dunno what start first: Tales of Berseria, FF Type-0 and World of FF
Guess Berseria
Yeah would say that since it's not FF so it stands out fro the this small list.
I actually have two more games installed but they are more in the short side so I'll play them later
Fuga memories of Steel and Omni Link
This game has Kyle
and Kyle is quite reminiscent of my character.

The game is immersive so far, satisfying gameplay.
Ayyy same.
Mhrm.
I like how the players are free to choose how they would want to play the game.
the game is Fuga: Melodies of Steel.
Yes
This is a screenshot I took that has a spoiler character in it. ||https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/843258760776646656/883315468163747890/SPOILER_fuga-screenshot-2.png||
On the main artist's Twitter, you may find these characters and the creator's thoughts about them.
The trivias could explain the reasoning behind the character's skills, an example is the one that I found about my favorite assigned main character, Boron.
Where creator said that they were close with their mother.
That would explain why they can have that late game skill that is mostly given to support or "mage type" characters.
also, the game has comedic "side stories" on YouTube, featuring the main crew of the game (including spoiler characters). I believe that you can find it if you search up "Fuga: Comedies of Steel".
mhrm the better term could be comedic shorts, something like 4komas.

Ihave finished almost all short games I wanted to play so now only the Uber-long RPGs are left xd
This game grabbed me and didn't let me go
i would say that all i have is super long rpgs but the issue is that i'm a completionist
I have been in this spot where I haven't played any games in a while proper
and I have Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling sitting in my library downloaded since June.
i'm a completionist with limits, of course, i play monster hunter and getting some of the achievements would actually fall under insanity. also i'd never be able to get some of the hidden things in hk, can barely beat the pantheons as it is
I'm a completionist on things that have plot on them
Although TBH i'm again with my Post-RPG laziness phase
Now I finished a long game I have no willpower to start another one
In mhrise you get titles when you kill a monster 100 times and boy howdy have I killed a lot of them trying to get those titles
But after I got objectively the best title combo I kinda stopped
"gripping his wind serpent ibushi" I couldn't resist using it
I think I'm like president of crack or smth
Its smth dumb but I'm too lazy to open the game again
Replaying Half Life 2 Episode 2 and I just want to murder the Vortigaunt that keeps gas lighting me for my mistakes
beautiful
i know one of my titles right now is 'dauntless is third-rate', i'm trying to save up so i can make my other one just 'butt' because humor is a lie
best one i've ever heard... man, lemme check gu real quick, i've seen some beauties there
"hunter of lady"
"old coot with style"
"ultra coward"
"drunk hunter"
"navirou"
and, from a dude who'd nearly 100%ed the hardest game i've ever seen to 100%, and who is one of the best players i've ever met: "kick your wife"
Rip so much for the whole “steam deck can run your entire library” statement
i just want linux to run literally any game so I can finally switch
Lmao
linux, for those who find windows too user friendly
I've never really been sure what tangible benefits Linux brings over windows for people not running server rooms or something
The most I've really seen is "not dealing with Microsoft" which is nice, but seems kinda heavily outweighed by the general lack of compatibility it has, and that WINE is nowhere near perfect at its job
wassup bungers
in term of pure usability, Linux has better package (apps) management, installing new programs are more easier on most distributions, more customization if you are into that stuff, and it's free (yes windows can be "free" but not officially "free"), fewer virus concerns (not to say there is none).
what you give up is a learning curve (which is getting flatter as time goes on) and general software compatibility
Anyone played Eldest Souls? Picked it up on a whim and it's curb stomped me pretty hard. Gorgeous game as well, don't mind dying so much when the bosses are this cool
ive reached 75% average game completion rate on steam 🎉
congrats!
Me: nervously looks at giant backlog and even bigger wishlist
Is a completed game 100% the achievements?
Cuz i think ive only done that with gris lol
i have only done that with Hades
to 100%
i kinda want to buy othercide though
it looks so damn cool
The three games I completely completed are Hitman (2016), legend of Mysteria and...... The demo from RE:Village 😆
pretty sure i only ever 100%ed like, maybe three games in my entire life
the only ones i can think of are hades, assassin's creed 2 and hitman blood money
(yeah i collected all the feathers in ac2 😔)
guess what i beat again
witcher 3?
never played witcher
its 8pm
and i do not do not have one
bah cant type today
it was miitopia again

Is Disgaea similar to Super Robot Wars OG 1 and 2? That plus XCOM are my only reference for tactics games
I said XCOM
!
i have no point of reference for either of those games bc ive never played them lmao disgaea isn't really tactics so much as it is make the most obscenely powerful characters
if you want a tactical game disgaea is definitely not the series to go for that
Ah I see. I was curious since I've seen the name for a while now and I still don't know what the games are about
its a game about making big numbers, which requires a lot of grind to get there. its not everyones cup of tea but its pretty fun if you enjoy it. lv cap is 9999 and theres all kinds of systems in place to min max characters and gear, if you so choose. my attention span cant take that so i dont worry about that lmao
i only played disgaea 2. you could grind to ridiculous levels and the enemies do get that high too, but the main story boss was around 100 or something
yeah usually the story content ends around lv90-100 but the draw of the series has always been going way beyond that and dealing damage in the millions and billions
and theres always some ridiculously powerful optional boss. or bosses
its also very humorous
Metroid Prime 2 continues to be a delight
I don't see why people have issues with the Sky Temple Key hunt
I'd 100% hades if I didn't physically lack the reaction time to catch legendary fish
thats when you start predicting
hey
hello :3
whats goin on?
uhhhhhhhh honestly there isnt much exciting me too much
half since i havent looked at much and also since silksong isnt gonna be coming out for a while 😔
oh
honestly I am not really looking for anything either
I mean the ghost of Tsushima directors cut thing is pretty cool
yeah it has the cool monkey armor
Now I do have an idea with legends mode
I think they could put the armor and masks from legends and add it to the base game
they could do a ng+ thing where you could buy them with ghost flowers
honestly, if they just put more duels, I'd be happy
Smt5, kof15, Metroid Dread
I was excited for Tales Of Arise but the demo wasn't super impressive
I mean it would not diminish legends
Did I still get the special edition? Yes I did
Huh
I have my eye on metroid
dk whether to buy it tho
as for SMT5....
I still pre-ordered
I stray from JRPGs nowadays
Oh Lost Judgment. I knew I was missing one
I adore JRPGs
They're like my most fave genre
Which ones?
let me rack my brain
I'm working on finishing up Tales of Xillia
That one's becoming my second fave Tales game. I loved Vesperia, which was my second fave for a while but Xillia is just so much better
Berseria was amazing
it is
Well is
I think I am excited for the new pokemon games
Pokemon is ok
they look rough ngl
Mainline Pokémon has just not been doing well, in terms of fan perspective
But my problem with them is the brilliant diamond and the other one, is the characters look like Lego duplo characters
Lel
I don't have super high hopes for Pokemon Arceus
I know they doing the Super Deformed style for one of the newer Pokémon entries
I mean the Arceus one looks kind of stupid
That's vague tbh
I feel like that's not a bad direction to go if it works out
As long as there is a ton of stuff to do in the world
And if they make luxuray good that'l be fine
I wonder how trading is going to be in Arceus
wassup bubbies
What site is that?
just found out that long gone days has a final chapter that's gonna be released. wondering if anyone here has any experience playing it
yeah for sure. sometimes i look at a game and im like "ill never have this 100% 🥲 " and just... maybe save them for later lol. but looking at my perfect games most of them were easy (even the ones that required a replay of the game or a bit of time). the hardest game i 100%ed in my opinion is thumper
i just tried playing it now and my laptop wasn't cooperating so i'm taking this as a sign to wait
i'd 100% mhgu but that goes into the realm of insanity
- complete 1.5k quests, some are stupidly hard and some stupidly boring
- fight about 100 monsters many times until you have the really rare sizes of all of them logged
- s-rank every arena quest. even the ones that force you to use weapons you hate
i could go on...
Anyone played Civ VI on the Switch? It’s on sale now, $10, but just the base game though. Worth it to pick without the boatloads of expansions it had?
Yes. Love that game
Code vein has this achievement where you need to collect a certain coin that is only available when you co-op. You need 400 of them to complete it. My friend wanted this badly... so bad... he bought me code vein. To honour his desire, I played with him. Thing was, he didn't want to do harder missions to collect it faster, he wanted to do an easy one over and over and over.
that easy mission
only grants 5 coins
granted it's over in 5 mins
but that's one coin per min
it came to the point where I just pop in, he did the heavy lifting and I just vibed in the "bonfire"
we did it tho
he 100% it
Lul. Talk about perseverance
that reminds me of how i only have one achievement left in prey: typhon hunter which is prey's prop hunt clone... you have to survive 50 matches as a mimic and every match takes like 5 minutes iirc. but the game is pretty much dead and not that good to begin with so i guess ill never have it 😔
not even private match?
i dont know anyone who has the game and is willing to sink the time into it its going to be kinda boring
sadge
It's called howlongtobeat. You kinda have to manually input the info though. I use Steam achievements to determine when I finish a game.
i have so much good games on steam, but i always feel the urge to play WOW
Haven't played WoW so I can't say
But i think mmos are just more addictive than single player games in general
Diablo 3. Game was literally designed to farm dopamine
I guess it’s almost the same vein as WoW
oh duh. i use it all the time to check how long games are lol, i didnt know you could do that
Yeah i use that a lot for longer games
It gives me a timeframe to know how much I need to invest in a game
It even divides by type of gamer
Main story, main story plus extras and completionist
And if you are a rusher or a dragger
also i dont really play "addicting" games because i prefer short games that you can finish and thats it instead of sinking tons of hours, but is it wrong to answer hades in this case? i wouldnt say im addicted to it but ive played over 500 hours and i still play it
Sometimes I submit my times on there if I remember to time myself or the game does for me
Mate, got some bad new for ya'
Anyhow yeah. now unless is a MP game I prioritize plot first
lol tbf ive been playing since it first came out so technically 2018, so it has been a while
Ofc not, Hades be a pretty darn good video game
I started this game the 12th. I was hopelessly addicted to it
And still 24 achievements left
MHW base and iceborne, and Hades. Those two take the whole cake for me. It came to the point where it's like comfort food, and I eat them after every meal.

I have 1200 h at R6 Siege since launch
I sunk in around 1300h on MHW
oh wow
Atm my comfort games be Monster Train and sometimes Hades and Ascension
it has come to a point where my friends actively stop me from playing Hades
There are two games I'd like to try once in sale and with no backlog behind
Nowhere Prophet and Griftlands
Griftlands looks like a bunch of fun from what I remember seeing of it
Also according to the roadmap they finally are adding a true happy ending to Star renegades and I'm all for it
Ayy niceu :3
Yeah as you know the story loops on the current version
Cookie clicker
was the only game i forced myself to quit. into some others i may sink 2000 hours, but then easily stop. this one was an exception.
and now its on steam
payday 2
might be broken, have a bad optimization, be full of dlc, gameplay is unbalanced and it's being milked to death
but damn it's fun
or it was the first 900 hours
hello
you would probably just have to get everything
achievements, cosmetics, etc.
it's really really hard, though
yes
you can shill out cash or shill out time
pick your poison
it sucks
yeah well
shout out to the last multiplayer game i sunk time into whose community gradually eroded my ability to enjoy multiplayer but did make me sick bank on steam when i quit and sold all my cosmetics
also had achievements almost 100% and then they added more like a year ago and i was like aw hell no i am never touching this again
In my experience all multiplayer games are something like this.
I find out about the game, I enjoy it. Play for some time. And then the crossroads opens.
- I play it and it eventually doesn't have enough players to play it or servers shutdown, but I didn't play it for long enough so I wish I could play it more.
- I play the game, but get bored of it for some reason and just never can pick up.
- I play too much of it to experience all of it bad sides be it community wise or game wise, come to conclusion, let it all pile up and end up despising the game with so many hours in it.
It's interesting to me that the 2nd option is very rare occurrence to me and the two are others happen way too often with them.
oh yeah number 3 was definitely mine, official servers were never maintained so of course it fell to player run servers to pick up the slack, and of course when you have player run servers the vast majority of them are absolute garbage. we managed a server that stayed pretty busy through much of the day and eventually i did just get to a point where the act of logging on at all felt like a chore. even if we banned the troublemakers from our server, they would be on other servers if i went hopping around during downtime and it was always such an Ordeal lmao
also shout out to the guy i still remember clearly to this day, who got very angry and accused me of power abuse for [checks notes] playing around harmlessly with the regs online and dealing 5-15 dmg to his 3k hp. hope he is having a great day or whatever
thanks albino 💖 no ping because I know pings irritate some people. hoping I get to play it when the final version comes out
Wait, which game is that
@wraith cradle
Hellop
Long Gone days is getting the Warsaw chapter soon
Also I wanna say here that Twelve Minutes has been sadly underwhelming
On the other hand Dreamscaper and Road 96 delivered
Anyone here play FF14? Got a coworker urging me to try it but I've never really played an MMO. Is it actually good or is this some cult thing going on?
Apparently it's the best in the genre
Got friends obsessed with it
But the genre is uh... not for everyone
If it doesn't do anything for ya, don't feel bad
I have no clue what an mmo is
massively multiplayer online game
weird for me to say, but like 10-15 years ago there was such a landscape for dozens of mmo and now people dont generally know any besides like.. wow and ff14 lol
Ah yes, The WoW-Killer era
not even "wow-killers" but there were soooo many kr/jp mmo around that time too, i would join groups of friends in trying out new mmos and whatever
Yeah I've genuinely never bothered playing one but they've been chewing my ear off about it for weeks now. It looks kinda cool I guess and the story is apparently one of the best in a FF for a while
Character creation is stuck way back in 2013 though which is a bummer
but a lot of mmo did get done in by the desire to try and be the next wow-killer, which. their own fault.
Like our boi Scott The Woz said
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_games_notable_for_negative_reception
Kinda funny FFXIV and NMS are here still
Despite manging to resurrect from the ashes like a phoenix
A lot of people still only remember the negative press nms got
just because they're better received now doesnt take away the negative reception they had originally, which is why they're still on the list
NMS is what happens when you put a Self-Admitted Awkward nerd to make all press releases
and yes to both of those statements lol
He was unable to curtail the hype around the game and set up everyone to dissapountment
Well looks like my usual Monday morning will consist of 'no, I've not downloaded the free trial yet' again... you ever get told you'll like something so much you start to hate the idea of it?
I'm not kidding that if they had played the expectations game better they would today as revered as SGG for Hades
They just had to put the game in EA
And slowly built it over the years
Anyhow yeah FFXIV is now a great game
at this point i avoid ff out of sheer spite bc of all the people that constantly push it lmao. but largely i just frankly dont have the attention span that live service games require anymore so thats my actual genuine reason i'll never get into it
Yeah I cant play MMOs like that, it's just outside of my abilities
Although I only played like 5 MMO in my life
Metin 2, WoW, FFXIV, Black Desert and Blade & Soul
I feel that, it's why I've not really dabbled in the genre. It's a huge time sink to just even get caught up from what I can tell and frankly I like playing a variety of games
Black Desert does look gorgeous to be fair though, it's the closest I've ever been to trying one
man i remember hearing about blade & soul like a year or so before it released and i wanted to try it but never did. at the time my internet was pretty garbage too so downloading new games was often a days long affair
yeah everyone posting that repeatedly is why i have spite for it lmao
not that image specifically but that statement
Lots of People consider Heavensward peak FFXIV, I'm personally ambivalent
Thank god it's not just me getting it in the ear about it haha it at least normalises my coworkers behaviour a bit
Is that the character from ace attorney
back when i was still able to do mmos, i did a lot of the cutesy styled mmo like eden eternal and trickster online and stuff.... i was pretty fond of granado espada too but could never get anyone to play that with me. the soundtrack was pretty awesome from what i remember
thats another thing about modern mmo landscape i guess is that im not big on the more realistic graphic style :/ i like stylized stuff better
Stylised tends to age better with games in general imo
Most definitely
Hades for example will never not look good. Same with Vanillaware games likes Dragon's Crown, they just never look dated to me
thats why i still update maplestory every year or two and play around for a bit before disappearing again for who knows how long lol the pixel style always endears me
Now everyone is making roguelites
prolly due to the success of hades
A
B
C
Are people gonna start making hades killers
lets not
He has a name, it's Zagreus
XD
Lmao
hablan español
yknow what
i wanna know if theres games like miitopia out there
100% you get muted xD
Exxxdeeeeeee
Anyway
I'm still waiting for Fire Emblem killer
I think you mean Final Fantasy Tactics killer. Absolute greatest of the genre to this day
Or Chrono trigger killer, please god, just give me more of those game T.T
To be fair, I still need to try 3 Houses
Fire Emblem Killed AW :/
AW?
Hopefully the remake resurrect it
advance wars
Advance Wars
Ohh
ReBootCamp
The question of the Century is what continuity they'll use
Japanese Role Playing Game
a jrpg I have played is persona q
rory stupid hours
they're having a jrpg game sign war on the wrestling show I watch
Japnese rocket propelled grenade
My fav genre personally
Old school JRPGs are absolutely the vibe
kicks down the door this is what im talking about
Squared Circle is about Wrestling lmao
yes
Undisputed. I will die on this hill haha
Anyhow, iyou wanna a great FF Tactics game?

I think Metal Slug Tactics is quite similar to FFT from the trailer?
Yes.
Chroni Trigger killer
Oh word?
Oh god please
Any announced date?

i cant get enough of the script in FFT war of the lions
HOLA q hace
Okay you're peaking my interest. Is this actually any good? Saw it a while back but the art style wasn't my jam
Hey everyone!
This month we bring a new progress report about the current state of Long Gone Days.
We’re still working on the final chapter, which will be coming out before the year ends, finishing the last maps and cutscenes of the game. There isn’t much we can reveal without spoiling the experience, BUT we can show you some some new screenshots without too much context for you to speculate~
Yes
It is
Sweet
I know some people dislike the change from the original, but genuinely the change in WotL was perfect for me. Just fit the overall themes of the story/world - perfect
There is also Fae Tactics which I played a Demo and seemed good enough
I also like Grand Guilds which is
Slay The Spire + FF Tactics
yess
X
Slay the Spire is the deck building rogue like, right?
Yes.
I'm genuinely looking for something new to play right now as well. I picked up Eldest Souls hearing it was really challenging but it's only lasted me about 5/6 hours unfortunately
Yep
A lot of games are card based nowadays
And I've given up on getting the Epilogue in Hades. The gods aren't cooperating with me lol
And with the map similar to StS with the path choices
StoryVestaria Saga tells the story of international conflict between a powerful empire and a small coastal kingdom. When an imperial ship is set ablaze near the port of Meleda, it sparks a cascade of events that thrusts young warrior Zadrian into a war for the future of his kingdom. On the run from a vicious imperial force and short on allies, Z...

Just force them wit keepsake. I did it in like 3 runs.
I already Shilled Lobotomy Corp/Library of Ruina
vestaria is made by the fire emblem guy who left
Oh believe me I've tried. I've had 6 attempts now at getting Ares heart to unlock (fulfilled the prophecy) and the dude won't talk. Same with Zeus/Artemis
Valkyria Chronicles could have been so freaking good if they didn't implement the stupid ranking system.
Like the game is perfect as a tactics game, but the ranking system forces you to cheese most of the scenarios.
You might be missing required dialogue
Been a while though, so I cant tell you what they are
Yeah it's just lead to a bit of burnout, going for the same gods over and over. Need to take a break and come back to it another time I think. Just need 2 clears for 30 total so I think I'll stop then
for future reference hades stuff should go back to #h1-discussion 😌 wish you luck however
Oops my bad, got carried away - wont happen again
youre good!
wait if i wanted to share video game music where would i share it
im guessing #music right?
Yeah, I'd imagine so!
generally, yeah. if its immediately relevant to discussion here i dont think anyone will really say anything about one link but music-related stuff should stay in music for convenience
that way people wanting to talk about other games dont get drowned out by the music topic, for instance
Which ones?
you could screenshot just your installed games
ffta2 was SO good
its time to get new games obviously
I wanna check out El Shaddai but I barely use Steam
didnt like a lot of fft purists hate ffta/ffta2, i remember that being the disk horse for a long while
dunno how fft fans consider a/a2 these days
what is a and a2?
They be great games i shall never be capable of finishing because I'm garbage at them
Tactics 2 also has the best sidequest system I've seen in gaming
You could argue the sidequest are the game
just do it
I'd buy games... if only the coffee season is not good rn.
i havent played any of the tactics games in years but from what i remember of the massive time i sank into ffta2 when it came out, my biggest complaint with it was how they did the judge system that time around compared to the previous game, but it still didnt stop me from putting quite a chunk of time in it
also seer was my fav job
i just remember for the longest while there was a split between people who liked the handheld titles, and people who only liked the original playstation title and hated the handheld ones
i liked them all so...
What's most important is that you liked em
oh yeah of course
ultimately the opinions of some Internet Rando(tm) doesnt matter
Internet RandMod*
i still remember when wind waker came out and people all over message boards clowned on its art style. i carpooled with a friend to school, his mom would take us in the morning and mine would take us home, and one morning he was flipping through like.. a nintendo power or something and going on about how bad the game looked lmao. and within, what, a decade? of wind waker's release it was considered a beloved entry in the series
as someone in another server said
I feel like there's at least someone here who would appreciate this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tig3vNj2s_c
wait if the coffee season is good then you should be able to buy more games, no?
no, need to harvest
No, that means if I'm not quick, coffee beans will be sold out every where
finally slew the spire actually
the broken is deffo the most hit a point and it suddenly a million cards a turn
Funny, because the better judge system was why I liked Tactics Advance 2 the most lol
yeah i liked the a2 judge system a lot better
getting those red cards was so annoying
i dont even remember what it was specifically that annoyed me, just that something about it annoyed me from the move from ffta to ffta2
was it the like, losing your advantage for breaking a law? losing something like regen in higher levels is brutal
dunno
its been literal years since i last played them
god its idiot tatz hours. check 3ds, no time data for ffta2 bc i've never played it since having a 3ds, so i went rootin around for my ds lite, turn it on, oh of course, they didnt start tracking activity until 3ds. turn off ds lite. wait. i can still put the game in and check my file hours
d'oh
anyway i have two separate completed files with different clan names, lv60+ and one at 70 hours and one at 85, so yeah i still sunk a lot of time in it regardless

Oh my
I surely would love to get to play this
oh, i've just realised that natural hp recovery doesn't scale with total health in rtdx
that's why i'm constantly at low hp, the game no longer lets me immediately heal all the damage i take
can't see why they cut that, it's not like they kept the boss hp glitch in
...it actually makes things a lot harder. its like hades-level healing but there's no avoiding getting hit
the old dance vid but i just slapped september on it because we always respect Earth Wind and Fire
#dante #vergil #dmc #devilmaycry #devilmaycry5 #dmc5
OH!
I almost missed
yes...
...
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
Its one of the best FF titles that I have played, the other one is FF7: Crisis Core
both are on PSP.
I really loved the cutscenes of both games.
For their time back then, those cinematics looked marvelous on a small screen!
(deleted messages)
God I want a new Falcom game so bad
kuro no kiseki?
why do i keep coming back to a game i know likely i won't enjoy
@polar dragon maybe not the best joke
That one is in japanese, which I cant read
Im waiting for localisation but
2023 is a long time away
or maybe.... good chance to learn jp!
I can barely manage 4 languages as is, Im not sure Im young enough to learn a fifth that quickly
4 is amazing
i just picked up jp last year and considering how many good stuff are in jp, worth it
as you say, not easy of course
wouldnt have sticked with it if i wasn't having fun
in a surprising turn of events, i found someone to play with and got the last achievement :D the game came out in 2018, and that one missing achievement has been bothering me soo bad for years. but now its complete!
hey one question do you know some moving games frome the last E3? I think it was just before the chicken skating game
This news made me lol
Good for them, they definitely put the work in
oh yeah, the launch was a series of unfortunate circumstances and exaggerated promises, but honestly respect to them for sticking with it and working to deliver on content rather than running away and leaving it as is
theres plenty of devs that would have simply just cut their losses and moved on
Did you all see the new Speedrun Trick they found in BoTW is kinda nice when runners find new strats to go faster years after release
Place down bomb, Take out Bow, press B + Plus, unequip shield, equip shield after, Pick up bomb, Jump and press B + Plus, unequip shield. https://t.co/og8KWQZgae
782
3868
It's also hilarious to see
I haven't, tis awesome to see
Similar with OoT, runners are still finding new tricks over 2 decades since its release
Bomb Blimp
The more complex the game the most likely something undiscovered is yet to appear
This is specially prevalent in 3d games where perfect runs are basically impossible
given that 2d you only go right/up as fast as possible but when going to point a to b implies more than one direction the optimal route is always ahead of your time
One of my favourite example of massive improvement is Celeste:
In SGDQ they had a TAS of the game that lasted 28 minutes and 54 seconds, being perfect play with absolutely no mistakes.
Well, the World record since February stands at 26 Minutes and 29 seconds by an human being with tons of new strats but without machine-only ones and the typical human 'Suboptimaliness'.
God, Celeste is such a joy to spectate the speedruns.
BREAKING: Tripwire Interactive CEO John Gibson is stepping down following severe backlash against his tweet supporting the Texas law that bans abortion after six weeks and deputizes private citizens to sue anyone who aids in the procedure, the company says
maybe people should stop twitting, for their and everyone's sake
he thought he was doing something, proudly proclaiming himself to be a pro-life game dev 🤪
for anyone that missed it, a studio they were partnered with rose from the dead llast night after no tweet activity since 2018 to post this in response to that awful tweet he made https://twitter.com/shipwrightstdio/status/1434609166560202754
you would think that a country that's proud to be an effective democracy would only have laws that are popular, and not have laws so unpopular that people are forced to step down when they say they agree with the law
but yeah I bet when he made the tweet he was expecting a lot of praise and support
riiiiiip me n the gf are playing spiritfarer together but xie's way further along and i just saw what im pretty sure is a Massive spoiler
Great now can Randy Pitchford say something dumb so I can not feel bad about enjoying Gearbox games
Unlike the others Randy can't Resign per se
He owns gearbox. He isn't appointed by anybody
Dunno if I'm explaining myself
Nevermind it was bought back in February
after buying NMH3 and beating it, I took a hard look at upcoming games and find... I don't have any interest on them. Some of the indies look cool but they're coming next month or so....
I thought to myself
for once
I don't buy any game for this month
so I bought a gunpla
goddammit
Gunplas are fun
Have u checked out severed steel?
guess this is still video games since its a league cosplay but god, cosplayers man.

Talent
looks fun, but it comes down to price
the gunpla took a lot
Waw
are any of the pentakill tracks worth looking into
I think their vocal stuff is pretty fun
Lightbringer and Deathfire Grasp are pretty good imo
Jørn Lande on vocals, so
especially if you know a bit of the game and get some of the references
also most of the song names are gameplay items
i miss deathfire grasp T.T
Hey cool Protodroid Delta backer demo is coming out later this week

I think cosplay is getting easier today because of 3D printers and online orders
Aren’t there people that specialize in making cosplay equipments and outfits?
Ok, I’m a huge fan of rougelikes and I’ve already played Isaac, Gungeon, and hades. Should I try neon abyss?
I enjoyed it quite a bit
Dead Cells is a good choice as well
It’s not isometric or top-down, but the pace is pretty much the same with Hades
Try FTL if you haven't already
Excellent game
My reccomendation of Roguelites (roughly) in order
Dungeon of the endless, Star Renegades, Loop Hero, One Step from Eden (Warning: Ultra Hard), Dead Cells, Dreamscaper, Vambrace Cold Soul, Darkest Dungeon, Othercide, Crying Suns (Was Free on Epic),
XCOM baby
Can vouch for Crying Suns, it is good
