Hardcore Henry is literally an FPS movie
faceless goons, over the shoulder camera and chest high walls included
another great example
ye
just do that
but with demons and 10 times more gore
ooooooorrrr get sam raimi to do it and it's gonna be closer to classics
there's so many ways you could spin this franchise to make a good movie
I honestly loved the doomguy in 2016. How characters tried to rail him into the plot and him just doing whatever he wanted SPOILER: ||It's kill demons||
*** the doomguy bin 2016***

i mean - for crying out loud - there's literally a codex page you can find explaining how demons literally lose their marbles on...
how OP the SSG is
which is hilarious
cause... yeah it is op as hell
I still find weird how the fear is not really translated ingame
Each demon will fight to the last and shows no sign of cowardice
there is, actually
i mean...
alright - this is the part where you have to consider both this new lore and gameplay
and i'm glad that gameplay came first here
cause running around an empty arena looking for that one scared demon hiding somewhere in a corner, keeping me from progressing wouldn't be fun at all
but they tried to convey that in glory kills
like - if you look at their facial expressions for let's say - the imp
he absolutely craps his pants seconds before you literally cave his face in
... and then the whole head
he just goes

and then splat
You know? I'm missing Metzen already
I don't know, never owned switch ver
Ahh okay, fair enough
you guys know what i hate? people who sell amiibos and stuff, but double the price because it's still in its box
like, the box is literally cheap cardboard and plastic, half the time it's still damaged anyways,
nah
i've both seen people use amiibo while still in the box, and have damaged boxed amiibo show up
Crowsworn is an action packed metroidvania. Inspired by Hollow Knight, DMC, and Bloodborne.
Wishlist on Steam: http://crowsworn.com/wishlist
Back us on Kickstarter: http://crowsworn.com/kickstarter
Oh, sweet! Was waiting for its kickstarter to start :)
I know people were making a lot of unfavorable Hollow Knight comparisons but I think it looks dope as hell
People should just let go tbh Hollow knight is 4.5 years old
It's also the exemplar of its genre.
Oh no, now you have 2 cakes
being made in the same engine, Unity and wanting to do alot of things right, will inevitably end up looking similar to a game that did almost everything right.
No idea why people complain about games which are similar to games they like... i would kill to have more games like hades and other games i like
Hadeslike
Hey
no
hey, they didn't say the word
What word
It's tough to show with just the trailer how different the game will be
While there are differences in the visual style, the orange dust animation when attacking the bug enemies and the shading style for the some of the environments feel pretty ripped from hollow knight
But this game looks like it'll be a lot more independent than that blatant stardew clone super zoo story
only another metroidvania for me to look into lol
i got ender lilies and ori 2 recently so ive been playing those
both are very fun, ori more so but ender lilies is still pretty good
ori is unreal
every shot from that game looks like a movie
i also find it hilarious how much you can abuse the hammer's physics
yeaaaa its great
you can abuse a lot of the physics and thats really cool for speedrunning
theres a strat where you can input up sword and sentry at the same time to get a huge jump
ooo
i might get into speedrunning ori ngl, the movement is so fun
but i need to learn hollow knight true ending route and ive been interested in botw for runs ;-;
its just a lot
but like ender lilies is cool
i love the music and the artstyle is cool
just it feels a lot less refined ngl
like the cutscenes dont even have sound, its just the still/animation
and the combat feels a bit limp and rigid and some of the sound effects could be better
but its fun and thats what matters :3
and the plot is making me sad since its just sad ;-;
i also find it funny how the witch is named eleine and the game idea ive had for a few years also has a witch but her name is elaine
just... one letter
you had a game idea?
have. ive had a game idea for the past like 3 years lol
i only mildly know how to code tho and i cant do too much art or music so a lot of what ive come up with is story and whatnot
id explain the entire concept but that'd take a bit and im tired =w=
The music is by a indie band called mili if you wanna check out more of their stuff
personally I liked their old songs way more
all good, what genre is it?
rpg?
yea :3
kinda trying to aim for a mix of octopath and persona5
but i mean its more 3 game ideas lol, a trilogy. first one being a turn based rpg, the 2nd being more grid based real time combat like the mega man battle network games, and the 3rd being a isometric roguelike like hades
named virtues, vices, and human nature respectfully for 1 2 3, and the name has mild significance :3
i have the major plot bits mapped out but less so the side stuff and more moot points
Thats kinda cool
I think switching between different genres in an overarching story would be cool but also difficult for players
So multiple characters in an overarching narrative with slice of life elements?
yea, only 4ish main characters tho lol not the like 8-9 of octopath and persona
and also trying to pull from those games for combat
since i loved the bp and break system of octopath and who doesnt love a good ol all out attack
so im just more conceptualizing a way to combine and revamp those systems
thats cool stuff
I think you may wanna have one or two more in there just for roster diversity
as in playstyles
Melee, range, swords, magic, etc
im trying more of a variety of weapons and classes rather than characters since i have
knife, sword, axe, lance, bow, gun, various magics
and each of the 4 main characters have 3 class promotions that prioritize different weapons and niches like the main guy elias can go into either astral mage focusing on magic and just pure dps and having knife and bow as non magic options, assassin focusing on high dps and evade as well as messing with turn order and such(id have to explain the magic system to really flesh this out lol) with knives, sword, gun, and jester which is a high dex focused class(so high hit, crit, and dodge rates)
lol its not like its too much, i can try my best to bare minimum explain rather than write a 5 paragraph essay
maybe :3
rn i am taking a game dev class and im going into my 3rd year of it so hopefully ill be more comfortable with a specific engine or smth since we've used gms2 and a bit of unity
im leaning to gms2 since i dont think i need unity but then again unity is free for personal use so :/
all kinda depends how it turns out
is a smaller thing ive been interested in and i hope one day i can actually get it made but who knows
game maker studio 2
oh
i have no experience in game development and limited experience in software development
ahh i have a bit of experience. ive taken a couple computer science classes and 2 years of game dev so far and im not even out of high school yet lol
so i mean im sure if i focus and actually apply myself i could make progress
well anyway ive done a lot of gaming today and i need to eat smth and im tired so im gonna take a break =w=
ttyl
ren'py best engine
Renpy seems to scale up very poorly... eventually you get this titanic script file that jumps around
I caught a Weezing called Ghastlite
Haha get it, because it's kinda similar to Ghastly?

And of course, a Ditto named Sus
Which game
Digimon
A Ditto named Slick Back
Æ
the first witcher game is free on gog galaxy https://www.gog.com/galaxy
it's not in the store it's on your dashboard
Yeah
I am a video game
Ok. But are you...........
A Roguelite?
I am also that
I will let him come
I have come.
There is this Roguelite I just can't remember the name
It was in a space station setting it had a funny art style and had a guy with a Gatling gun follow you if you took too long
Void Bastards?
Wasted fits the description, minus the space station setting and more so wasteland fallout vaults
Can't believe there is another roguelike with funny artstyle that has a guy with gun follow you if you take too long.
I remember the first boss was a guy with a Gatling gun.... Who realizes it is empty so he pulls out dual revolvers
And another boss was a guy in a tank
enter the gungeon?
Nope FPS
Add Wasted to your Wishlist on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/327510/
Get wasted or get wasted trying in WASTED, a roguelike post-apocalyptic pub crawler. Fight tooth and nail, bullets and baseball bats in search of Booze, gain strange mutational Hangovers, and explore the Coolers in search of powerful weapons, armor, and a nice stiff...
nah it's WASTED for sure
you did in fact Mandela it a bit
it is not in space
it is in wasteland fallout vaults imao
the first boss is revolver ocelot sort of guy (show in trailer)
and of course also shows the tank boss
btw this game for sure made itself hard to be looked up properly due to it being named WASTED (I mean it does have a longer title, but even I don't recall it properly lol)
Borderlands: Adventures of Mordecai
That thumbnail very vaguely looks like it could have been a Gen 6 Pokemon game.
Just hit me something they really did have toiler paper as currency in 2016.
Thanks mate. You don't know how frustrated I was getting.
oh I can get that
I still have like
a game I KNOW I played
but for the love of everything can not find
was strange game where you free roam around levels corrupting the land to make the fairy tale more dark and sinister.
Maybe it was a flash game? So it doesn't exist anymore
nah I know it's deskstop game.
Eversion.
The Princess of the Flower Kingdom has vanished! She was taken by the Ghulibas of the north, and it is up to brave Zee Tee to rescue her. On his quest, he - and you - will discover the hidden lands behind the peaceful kingdom, and come face to face with secrets that will set you on edge! This is the high-definition version of indie fan favo...

This game was a trip.
Whats the best fps roguelite other than gunfire reborn?
I've heard good things about Ziggurat 2, but I'm not actually 100% sure that's a roguelite.
That being said Gunfire really is great and I still recommend it to people who like FPS and/or roguelite.
I wish it was eversion. It was 3D game.
Have you seen unreal 5?
cant even compare to the graphical marvel that is ren'py
hello, can anyone recommend me some random games? anything nice at all
muck
monhun stories 2
Slime Rancher is wonderful
yess i have ~60h in it
i have 79 on it
i dont have it
i've watched it on yt, it's great
real is 100 times better, atmosphere with the music is amazing
Both Ori games, Hollow Knight, Katana Zero, Shady Part of Me, Pinstripe
Samorost series
Persona 5, 5 Royal, 5 Strikers
Dust an Elysian Tail, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, What remains of edith finch
So, as i kinda continued playing Starcraft 1, should I complete it before Brood war?
Yes if you care about the story
It's spelt as tail btw :p
ender lilies, nuclear throne, va-11 halla, curse of the dead gods, and i can second the ori games, hollow knight, katana zero, and dust. if you want a rhythm game unbeatable is very cool
I have no idea what typo you're talking about

There's also this little known set of gems of Bastion, Transistor, Pyre and Hades
Never heard of them
mhm yea those are great, not that well known tho
Ah yes, little games from a little dev team
Pokemon
It's great
Pokemon is an indie hidden gem, made by a relatively small team named Game Freak.
Evidently by the fact that the game has change much since its debut in 1996, despite having 8 different generations and a dozen of games.
The team faces such a large scope problem for a small underfunded company.
It's still p good though.

Sounds like trash
fite me
Ok

Why the og instead of Replicant?
sucks when you suddenly start missing a game a lot and you can't even play it to scratch the itch
it came up first on google images
Divinity original sin 2 is good?
It's a lot of fun
And on Tactician level you kinda need to min max a bit
But overall an excellent RPG
Extremely deep and satisfying
Thing to note: level differences are very drastic
Your group of say 3rd level characters will have a very tough time with even one or two enemies at 4th level
and expect it to feel somewhat generic fantasy wise sort of.
so idk if it's because I somehow managed to play "optimally", but for octopath traveler I finished everyone's chapter 4 and it's nowhere near as grindy as everyone makes it out to be
I didn't have to intentionally grind almost at all besides fighting enemies I naturally encountered while walking from place to place
and the gear you pick up in chapter 4 areas makes new members hit way above their level
not boring
but it's not a fast paced action game
it's just a really freaking good "turn based" RPG
U dont have fun when playing games?
I mean if you are looking for a Devil May Cry hack n slash kind of fun, Divinity 2 is probably not it.
But if you are even slightly into things like DnD, oh boy, you are in for a treat.
yes i say like a the witcher 3
Speaking of Witcher 3, in my current playthrough, just got past the ||Battle at Kaer Morhen||
Just gonna spoiler tag there, in case I need to but I don’t really know how many people actually have played Witcher 3 lol
How long is the game left for me to play though?
Am I near the ending already?
Already did Hearts of Stone, not yet on Blood and Wine. I checked the Toussaint map and my god, it’s another big map
Awww
Yeah you are almost done with ||Act II||
Journey’s ending
HOW HARD DO YOU THINK I CRIED FINISHING BLOOD AND WINE?
Like there
It's over
Aaaaaa
Wait, they’re not finished with the game yet? Wow
How old is it now?
Ooooo
Hmm
Hmmmm?
Sounds like "ok we screwed up with cbp, what are we gonna do? Right witcher 3, Yeet"
Though it's free
Apparently no new missions confirmed yet
Tbh, I’m am both relieved and sad that my playthrough is going to end. It’s a pretty wild story, but the grind to finish every quests, every POI, is a pretty mounting task that I’ll be happy to finish
From what I gathered, the show is just an explainer of what happened before Witcher 3, from the looks of it
Like, big references to the moments that is slightly referenced as past memories between Geralt and his friends
If so, nice. If it’s just gonna be a cosmetic DLC, also nice I guess. I like how the armor looks in the show
Still thinks Viper armor looks the best though
I’m guessing I got the best of both worlds then, I used the runewright to make my Viper considered as light armor, to make use of that big crit damage from feline light armor skill
Blood and Wine is definitely one of the best DLC I have ever played.
It's a very fitting and relatively happy ending.
Whimsical, fun, while still maintain the "Witcheriness" of the series.
“Nintendo Switch (CRT model) https://t.co/LD8QK3t77m”
Blood and wine spoodle ||RIP Dettlaff, you didn't deserve it buddy||
Nice xD
There are many reasons for my possible choice, but they are mostly spoilery
Canon is one thing, sure, but
There are many buts
I pick Yen in all of my runs, I like Triss but thing is Yen's side quest sold Yen to me
Oh, ||djinn|| stuffs
Yea
I did that
It’s one of the scenes I wouldn’t understand if I haven’t watch the Netflix show
As for timeline, it’s the Netflix show > Thronebreaker > Witcher 3, right?
One of these days, I will try to get my hands on the previous 2 Witcher games
Someday
Someday

Fighting in 1st one is interesting and innovative, so I can't get used to it and dropped playthrough several times
But it can be dealt with
Graphics looked ancient too lol
It’s a 2007 game but man, did graphics advanced far now, man
Still better than in 2001s
When not everybody had mouth that can be opened
And palms with distinctive fingers
Yeah I like going with canon options in game. Though I think Triss is cuter than Yen.
Yen can be tough to please sometimes most of the time.
Lmao
FFIV?
what happened with that

13 years since P4
5 years since P5
A man can dream
my ideas are:
Persona 4 Spinoff
Persona 3 Spinoff
Persona 5 Mobile
Persona 5 Arena
Persona 1 & 2 Ports / Definitive Edition
Persona 3 Remake
Persona 6
maybe 2 of these will be correct
realistically its gonna be ports
like the golden port coming to consoles for example, maybe an anime based on royal
Arena with rollback netcode?
idk what that means
online good
All personas in steam?
Persona 3 direly needs a remake
This is hilarious https://twitter.com/jiyunaJP/status/1414794246356312072
Who are these?? Could it be a hint for Persona 6 protags?? https://t.co/hmXJ9hhQQn

omg persona 6?
(The joke being that those are characters from Persona 2)
I know
Persona 2? I though the franchise began with Persona 3
nah it started with smt 5
what Persona 3? all I know is P3P
Peer Three Peer?
Play Three Portable
This has wavedashing AND rollback netcode
are you for real
AND made by Slap City devs
So it's not even their first fighting game that is similar to smash.
To note, rollback "on appropriate platforms"
Smash's netcode so bad they won't let other things be better lol
probably on pc ps4 and xbox
please i want mainline persona on switch ;-;
then id be able to easily play it
I think they'll port 4 and 5
P4 port is probably the september project
but they already ported p4g whats the point
Not to consoles
So, as I was playing a bit of Jedi Outcast (and couldnt complete it, cause I was a dumbass who put it in hard mode), I was wondering, should I complete Jedi Outcast before Jedi Academy?
unib switch netcode is just as awful, I'd play it on pc if I had one
I'd suggest playing Outcast before Academy. Better story imo, and in Academy there are some references to Outcast iirc (haven't played it in a bit tho...). Academy is more focused on combat, I'd say (you can wield dual sabers and a staff at one point; in Outcast it's only a single bladed lightsaber).
P4A with rollback, YES PLEASE
it would be quite awesome
Ive still been waiting for Granblue to go on sale
Once it hits 30 bucks Ill buy it. it looks awesome, but literally every character I like is dlc, Cant buy a full price 2yr old game and then throw 5 dlcs on top haah
granblue fantasy vs?
Yes
grabbing blues
This is the Japanese commercial for that Skyward Sword remaster/remake/whatever. Looks more chill and focuses on single individual experiences, I guess

Same game, but different commercial for different regions of the world. This one is more action-packed, with the player literally immersing herself into the game, literally becoming Link
Soar between floating islands and enter a universe filled with epic adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. Available on July 16, 2021. Only on Nintendo Switch. ESRB Rating: EVERYONE 10+ with Animated Blood, Comic Mischief, Fantasy Violence

I wonder how players in Japan and other parts of the world differs, considering they have commercials that is really different in direction and focus

Regional marketing differences are fascinating
Just look at any Kirby box art
Or the older Mega Man titles
I sure hope this game is good lol
Doesn't run super well but it's a good title to have on a portable system
Be careful tho
You may end a bad roll away of throwing the switch out of the window
ask fox hope
make sure its the dlc edition if you do
since some in game settings like being able to change the extremely tight (forcing you to sprint constantly) turn requirements
are locked behind the dlc
that change was worth buying the game twice in my case, since it ties into most people number 1 complaint with the game
also if you can get it on pc, these games always have good mods, looking at Long War
Roguelite is good on Switch. Therefore, XCOM 2 is good on Switch.
sad it ain't on pc ig
it is
i basically only played team fortress 2 for the past year and god i regret it
playing games like hades and sea of thieves are a breath of fresh air for me
yknow, since tf2 rn is filled with entire teams full of cheaters that wont get fixed because the dev team is down to like two people who dont even work on the game full time
I’m not surprised, it is an old game (judging by wiki)
I’m still salty about how valve just leaves Underlords rotting on the shelf
theyre either constantly full or hosting a weird unofficial gamemode
and frankly, i dont want to go to anymore 24/7 2fort servers
yeah thats why i play 24/7 harvest :D
it is an old game, but theres a few factors that make this whole situation upsetting
- the devs still put energy into the game by basically only adding loot boxes so that the gambling addicts can give them another paycheck and not get fired at the end of the year
- the devs dont tell the community ANYTHING in regards to the future of the game (whether it will cease development, whether development will be back to normal eventually, whether issues will be fixed, etc)
- up until 2017 the game has had constant major updates, this isnt one of those games that just dies without some kind of fanfare
- the game is still thriving, the player numbers are higher than ever despite the sorry state the game is in
CSGO is more alive than probably any other Valve game, but has exactly same issues
I guess they are just either okay with cheaters or don't know how to handle them
dead servers
at least they added trust factor, which significantly helps
i wouldnt doubt it if they updated VAC there either
There're still a lot of cheaters though
Sad
Heavy kinda looks like my uncle
oh weeeeeeeeeeeeeeird......
RTX ON
these suck
I can see MCU's Thor, Sansa Stark, Grand Moff Tarkin, Keanu Reeves, Wednesday Addams and Ellen Degeneres dyed
Its so bizzare
We did it folks

We found the Smell of the Game
i recently finished Cyberpunk 2077 and it is not as bad as everyone makes out the game to be. The story and characters are immersive and the gameplay is the top of its class. Not to mention the graphics, even the games water is just top notch in every aspect.
good one berry

story and soundtrack were easily the standout parts of the game and actually really good
yes very true
I actually wanna try TW3 again in the future once I havetime
i need to spend more time listening to the soundtrack tho
Although I feel intimidated by the runtime
CP77 be like:
||Immortality Chip:
-Cons: You'll die in 6 months
-Pros: Keanu ASMR for the rest of your life.||
Yes they are, berry.
Am I the only one who felt half the plot of CP77 was like an allegory for terminal illnesses?
it definitely is
Like when the doctor when gives your the pills felt incredibly blalant
It definitely is about coming to terms with one's own mortality.
||in the suicide ending nobody has any objections so V is probably seeing a skewed viewpoint||
||
thanks

TBH I wish my last illness comes with my celebrity of choice to snark at me while I die.
Shia Lebouf probably
It is. Same with depression for some of te characters like kerry
still need to do kerry's sidequest
Do it, it's pretty good, and has one of the best quests I've played
aight
i'm on the beginning of my second playthrough and have no saves from first playthrough so
Isn't the backlash for CP77 because of how poorly it runs on consoles and the company's ethics
yeah
and not the actual game itself
well
yes and no
some people still hate the game
yes i know that
i didn't do it on purpose
Basically, it ran extremely poorly on consoles at launch, and was pretty buggy, which caused a lot of people to hate it. As for the company's ethics, most of the criticism about that comes from how they handled console launch and reviews. Somewhat of a F:NV situation, if you will.
right
i've only played it on pc but it seems great on pc as far as i'm concerned. i've noticed and experienced very little bugs. After what critics and everyone has said about consoles I think it would be in the fault of the consumer at this point.
Consoles run pretty well now from what I've heard and seen.
but ur playing it on geforce now
i've also heard that they barely load any npcs and cars and the world just feels kinda empty
still on a pc 🤪
fault of consumer for buying a falsely advertised product
exactly
||jk ofc||
it's not really the same experience
overall it depends a lot
It runs well for me on a GTX 1060 and 8 gigs of RAM but others werent so lucky
but at this point with how much has been said by people who aren't CDPR, it feels like you should know not to buy the console version
i guarantee you that some people just buy games without looking at anything online
that is true
True, the amount of people who had wild expectations of it being a GTA was baffling lol
Same thing happened with Death Stranding somewhat
Like, wrong expectations
But tbh, Death Stranding was extremely vague in it's trailers
well you play the game more than half a year post release. most of the outrage was on release.
but i ve always maintained that Cyberpunk will eventually be good. maybe now is a good time to pick it up.
in other news, I can't stand watching streamers blind running through my favorite games
their "sub-optimal" plays are too much to take in
i guess what i'm saying is it's good now idk
I heard that Cyberpunk has been the most downloaded game on PS4. So, I wanna know if it's really worth playing it on PS4, or on next gen consoles, or on pc?
Those buttons are so close to the edge
the b is basically falling off the edge
The button layout is awful
Otherwise, whatever
I dont like the Switches either because of it putting the left stick above the D-Pad, but compared to this, the switches layout is amazing
wait is this a console?
what OS is it running though
wait yeah the button layout looks scuffed as heck
not only the buttons are too close to the edge, it's also too close to the shoulder buttons
you are going to be like this, literally, 🤌
play games and practice your Italian at the same time?
sign me the heck up xD
Steams version of Linux
Yeah no the layout is dreadful
Especially stick and buttons being side by side
Means if any game uses both, its gonna be super uncomfortable
honestly i love seeing new handhelds, and then i remember that the battery life is not gonna be that good
yeah it's if I recall said ‘40Whr battery. 2 - 8 hours of gameplay’
Console players be like
if it can truly do 8 hours, color me interested
"Where is my aim assistance"
but 2-8 hours is a WIDE range xD
or how lit the screen is also i think
we will see
wait for release
when was the last time you used your vita
this steam deck seems pretty good as a budget pc, might get it if theres a kbm option
the memory upgrades kinda seem expensive given that sd's are way cheaper
i think you can get the 64 GB one and buy an SD card yourself
which is a decent deal imo at that price
where can i get a budget pc for under $500?
you really can't
I cant wait to play CSGO on the Steam Deck
looks like you can plug it into a monitor and kbm, pretty hyped
especially since i have a mac lol
one day phones will be powerful enough with awesome battery life that can run windows
then i can run steam on my phone
no copium here
I think you mean cloud gaming
Nintendo Switch: has Mario
Steam Deck: does not have Mario
Let's assume
one day phones will be powerful enough with awesome battery life that can run windows
Phone: has emulator
I mean for under 500$ is the 64 GB version, so that wont do you much good
But my current PC was like, 750, but that was making sure it ran just about everything on high
A 512 sd is like $30 on amazon
I think we confusing value and price point
building a PC yourself probably will get you more value but sub 500 it's really freaking hard to get a functional system with monitor, keyboard, etc.
coming in here to say that the new steam release is something i'm looking forward to because I spend half of my days in bed
been wanting something like this for a few years now and finally my wishes have come true
I will say just one thing, faster load times. Sick of having games load too slow on my Switch
I’m pretty hype, pretty interested. And considering it’s Valve that is doing this, I have high hopes
And then I remembered I haven’t been gaming on a PC for so long now, I practically have no game library on PC, at all

it's honestly not that hard to build a pc library
humble bundle is one hell of a drug
I heard about Humble Bundle, never really looked into it because I never had any interest or need
How cheap are we actually talking here? And what games can I expect?
just about any game you can think up. since it's mostly in a bundle, you kinda need to check in now and then to see if there is anything you are interested in
and they are quite cheap, like $12 would get you a bunch of games, usually at least 2-3 are well known releases
that being said their quality is not as high as it used to be
but still good value imo
I’ll look into it then, once I need it, if I ever going to need it lol
yeah
Thinking back, what can you install on a 64GB + 512GB SD card? PC games are large, no?
Mostly 6 games, and then you hit the storage capacity, I think?
yeah all of them come with SD slots
64 GB is small, but then it depends on what you want
i think average would be 7-8 GB for the games I play
but the range is huge
Isn’t Hades like, 15GB already, for example?
Yeah, same like what I thought
AAA gamers would probably never want the base version
i personally recommend checking out itch for building up an indie game focused library
like actually?
no idea but wouldn't be suprised
bruh he is still making his game since i was in high school bruh
been around 10 years
take: the Switch's screenshot share system is not as bad as it sounds. I don't have home wifi and have almost never gotten bluetooth file transfers to work between any two electronics, so a method that doesn't need me to turn on a hotspot to transfer screencaps was quite welcome.
that being said for the love of Zeus et al, please ninty let us transfer switch files to computer through USB instead of having to pluck out the micro SD every time...
Ninty won't even use standard spec for USB
scroll down a bit
or if you mean save data
well uh
no idea buddy
that's so convoluted lmao.. Just let it show up like a flash drive...
this is a visual novel that fans been waiting to get translation of for years https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uH_lYc9HzpU

This is not a story of heroes.
Since time immemorial, warriors called musha have ruled the battlefield, granted supernatural power by their enchanted suits of armor - tsurugi.

how do you get steam to detect a game that was installed from epic?
its the same game obv, just dont want to have to install 100gb again... /:
Article "Add Non-Steam Games to a Library"
Yeah. Which game takes 100GB?
are people preordering the steam deck or waiting for reviews?
I just reserved mine, transaction went through the microsecond before the steam store broke lol
The middle tier one is sold out
I ordered the 512, cant see what its stock is looking like because it just has the option to cancel my resrevation
I'm waiting for the buyer's regret sale
I don't think it'll unseat the Switch but hopefully it'll at least put fear in their hearts
its targeted for different audience imo
im not gonna reserve it just in case this hype train goes as well as cyberpunk's
I think it's about 50/50
but hopefully itll be in stock next summer
You're directly targeting it as a gaming laptop replacement, but secondarily you're leaning into the Switch comparison and looking pretty favorable
if it has HDMI out it might be good for people who move around a lot and don't want a desktop and also don't want to spend lots on a gaming laptop
It's a gaming laptop with a better form factor
Yeah, I dont see it failing tbh. Nintendo spit in everyones faces with the hoped for "super switch" upgrade turning into a screen upgrade basically lol. Like really dogs, 4 years later and you cant release an upgrade to run your own flagship titles at a smooth 30fps? Weeeelll, heres a handheld ps4 with access to steam store. See ya never nerds lol.
The only thing I will be sore about is not having ssb, bit Ill live. Mhrise is getting a pc port anyways
I forsee a ps5 fiasco when it comes time for standard launch, its gonna be craigslist flooded with 3x markups from scalpers for a year. Worst case, the closer it gets, and people start doing extended hands on reviews, if it ends up being ass, ill just cancel my 5 dollar resrevation, no sweat. but if it rules, well, im pumped to see if it rules lol
I mean, switch is pretty much established already, I doubt this thing will break those numbers, ever. BUT it will let people realize that they dont need a decade old tech obsolete thing becasue its the only choice in that particular market. Now people will have a choice. And unless theyre obsessed with pokemon, the choice is pretty clear to me if you dont have a switch already tbh
so glad I got in there lol. F5 fo life
ill wait until it says "q2 2022" to put my reservation in lol
dont think ill get much use out of it until summer break
Im waiting for Steam to discontinue it to not buy it tbqh
Might pick up a switch though
unless theyre obsessed with pokemon
or with physical discs/cartridges, like me lol
eh, ive been digital for the past like 7 years. its 2021 baby, you living in the past lol
Switch is still a cheaper device with (inexplicably) a better layout, that is less bulky and has enough games unique to it
The Steam Deck looks like it will be awful as a handheld, and if I just want to play PC games I can play them on my PC
cheaper? yes. but also exponentially less power. Exclusive games to nintendo? yes. Better layout? I mean, to be detrmined? you got pads that allegedly mimic mouse movement. That could be sweet. If it doesnt have stick drift like switch joycon drift, that could be sweet. Nintendos best sales are like, 14% of something youd never buy lol. Steam has like 85% off sales all the time. And like, infinity games lol. Just not the flagship nintendo ones. Obviously its too soon to be like, ITS GONNA MERK IT IN EVERY WAY. But the early signs are looking promising for a more powerful alternative to a portable thing that can also dock and run like a tower
And like i said, if it blows and closer to release it comes to light that it has tons of flaws. Screw it, its a 5 dollar preoder that I can cancel and get refunded lol. Ill take that risk, which is 0 lol
Physical games cool though :(
I like my novel pieces of plastic
lol, hey, to each their own playa. I personally like my console to have every game I own 2 clicks away, no swapping disks, or drives burning out or losing or damaging the games. I do understand the collectors mindset of having physical copies of stuff. But I personally reserve that for my old favorite classics. Megaman legends series, legend of dragoon, Einhander, Brave fencer musashi. Stuff like that thats ultra rare. Otherwise, stuff like Horizon zero dawn, and more recent releases, meh, Ill take digital when the psn or steam store gives me the 60dollar game for 4.99 lol.
My only actual concern with the unit is the control layout
I wouldn't have bothered including the touchpads just to shove buttons to the extreme edges of the unit
I mean, less power doesnt matter much
But obviously I haven't actually held it, so it could be comfortable
Vita had way more power than the 3DS
It still didnt do nearly as well
I'd need to hold it personally
because its library was ass lol. This has the entire steam library
Vita had some other big issues this doesn't
It just wasnt fitting a niche
It was too big and clunky for the "in your pocket" handheld that was popular at the time
Wait, remind me, Vita still had proprietary memory, right
You have to remember, playing games on phones back then wasnt really a thing yet
Other than like flappy-bird level stuff
No, it didnt lol. I cant name 10 above average vita titles that werent ports
Id be interested to see this list. I have a vita and LOVE IT btw, and its good for p4g and ps1 classics and thats about it lol
And thats excluding multiple genres
P4G, Freedom Wars, God Eater 1 and 2, Gravity Rush, Sly Cooper
A variety of fighting games
AC Liberation
god eater arent vita games, theyre games that are also on vita though right?
Those were all ported off of the vita later
I agree that I don't think this is going to impact Nintendo financially. Nobody bought a Switch for the hardware, they bought it to play Nintendo games. But it sure would be nice if this shook them up a bit.
At the time God Eater, Gravity Rush and Sly Cooper were vita exclusive
I think Sly Cooper still is actually
sly cooper is a ps2 game bruh
The fourth game
Ah no it has a PS3 version
But yeah no, there were a lot of great games on the Vita
That wasnt the issue
The issue was that it was too big and clunky for handhelds at the time
I feel like 95% of the world would disagree games wise, but also agree it was clunky
It was ironically coming out too early, if a Vita-like was made concurrently with the switch, it wouldve done way better
Nah
Vita is generally looked back on pretty fondly
No one claims the vitas issue was a lack of games
Its issue was the memory cards and it just being big and clunky
But it had its upsides
An OLED display for example
Which even the Switch deck doesnt have lmao
Memory cards kneecapped it more than anything imo
Its 2021, how do you still not have an OLED display on your handheld
Id say the fact that they molested the customers for the memory was numero uno
Also the Switch Deck being all digital means the larger your collection is, the more of a hassle it is to manage it
want a 64gb micro sd? that tehy sell for 20 bucks? well its gonna be 250 for the sony version and none others work. like effff guys why u do this
I can play any of my, lets see
... 30 PSP games or 20 Vita games whenever I want
The 400$ Switch deck wont even manage more than 2 games with its 64 GB
It cant even manage FFXV alone
Dont get me wrong I LOVE my vita. I have all my ps1 classics on it. And p4g. I just really think its ORIGINAL for vita only content was severly lacking tbh
To be fair, it's still double what the Switch has standard
It wasnt, its just that by now, all the good exclusives were ported off
idk how this thing would run something like CP77 or ARK, or whatever else that takes a ton of CPU resource or memory
but it'll be nice to see something else on the market, that for now has only Switch
Like I said, fingers crossed it kicks Nintendo's ass in gear
But yeah like, what niche is the steam deck targetting? As a handheld its much too big and clunky, and its battery is not gonna last long on AAA games
And if its just for playing games at home, Ive already got a PC
switch is also big and clunky for a handheld, tbh
It is
I dont think the switch is great as a handheld and I dont like its layout
But the steam deck is worse in every regard, especially the layout
It's a gaming laptop replacement
but i also fear that it might overheat a bit, since it's a laptop replasement
Like that layout has been tried before on controllers iirc
And it was abandoned because it was the by far worst layout
Still don't see the point of the touchpads
i can imagine lying in a bed with that brick on you chest, tbh
Especially with the unit having a touch screen
Thats my issue with switch. its still clunky, and weak hardware wise as a portable. But hey it IS portable, so thats a plus. But between joycon drift and even being docked dipping under 30fps often on its own first party games, it doesnt seems strong enough to be a at home console either.
more touch panels that i will hate probably since they never work for me as intended, no matter where
We tried the touch pads on the Steam Controller and they were awful, I don't know why they kept them around
Hardware on portables doesnt need to be strong, it needs to be strong enough to run the games on it
Plus thats the worst part about the steam deck, its gonna be outdated in a year or two
I don't even care about fidelity just give me a stable 30 on flagship games, Nintendo
remember that steam machine thingy, which name i forgot.. it also had those touch panels instead of normal buttons
AAA games keep pushing for more and more hardware requirements
Steam Machine?
But yeah no steams track record with hardware was bad
you know, the previous valve invention that died so fast, it left almost no records in world history
tell that to the people who still buy vinyl records. some things don't have to be rational.
if super switch came to fruition like it was supposed to and wasnt a massive slap in the face with a screen upgrade only, we wouldnt even be having this convo lol
Also, I should mention this
A, with the chip shortages I don't think they could have gotten an internal upgrade off the ground, which B, I don't think was ever the plan or intention
This isnt a new concept
sure if you think your copy of cyberpunk is gonna appreciate like a vinyl, by all means, collect away lol
i guess, the new OLED switch revelation was partly the reason the new announce came so soon
There are right now like 5 different handheld PC devices available
like the nvidia shield and stuff?
I don't like the directions Nintendo takes but I won't fault them for falling into expectations people have that they never really built up
...of which most people haven't heard unfortunatelly
but switch is being talked about from every hole
I fail to see your point
oh you mean those 2k dollar things. this is 400 bucks man, thats the point, its super affordable but pretty strong
2k? Nah, theyre like 700$ or so
Gathering collectibles with the intention of financial gain is a fools errand tbh
For I think half a terabyte of storage
still, you have to starve for several months to afford them
if not years
maybe not years, okay
the cherapest one ive ever heard of was 800, literally double the price of the cheapest one of those steam things
Aya Neo is 700$
well, we have to see first if the thing gonna survive first months after actual release
Similar to the 650$ version of the steam deck, especially with the storage
but hopes have been built.. which is not good maybe
idk, we will have to see the closer it gets to release.
Like if youre getting the cheapest version, youre gonna have to rely on SD cards
And the slower loading speed and worse performance that comes with it
if it runs skyrim with mods, am in
Idk you can grab 512 micro sds on amazon for like 30 bucks nowadays lol, I wouldnt be too offput by that. youre running sds on switch too
PC Games arent designed with the ability to play off of SDs in mind, Switch games are
Thats why when people tested out PC games off of SDs, it usually came with some hefty downsides
true
but hey like i said, when we start hitting november, we will proabably get some people with weeks of hands on experince with it and we should get a better idea. Maybe it will end up as total ass. then all those people with there 5 dollar reserves will just get it refunded and it will burn. or it will have potential and rip the game
might be able to connect an ssd to it
a disadvantage of pc games is that save files and actual game files are located in completely different locations
and if with installation directory things are more or less common with the steam standards
At that point its not a handheld anymore, and you might as well get a PC
the config files can be found wherever the creators want
^
laptop is not
I got mine for 750$, and its basically a significantly stronger version of the 650$ Steam Deck
The prices on PC parts have dropped considerably
gaming laptop - maybe, but this thing is far from portable as well
thats what im saying. If i get one for say 650, the top tier one. and it is as strong as a ps4, thats pretty decent, not great but, not horrific, but the fact that I COULD take it and play it at work in the break room or something like that, makes the cost vs usablility pretty tight on paper
Oh the dock to use it like a console is extra isnt it?
yah
the dock is seperate purchace, but its basially a stand, you can run it "docked" with no dock
saying that a pc that cost 750 is way stronger than the deck is like saying a 200 dollar ps4 is way stronger than a switch. the portablilty option has to add in somewhere
where can you find a $200 ps4?
Oh that was with the SSD thing
though truthfully id be using it docked like 80% of the time
The point is its bad as a handheld almost certainly and bad as a PC
on craigslist like 1000s of them lol
And the versatility really doesnt seem worth it
just like switch?
also does anyone know the difference between eMMC and NVMe SSD?
and if its worth the $130 upgrade?
i've bought mine ps4 slim for around $200, but it was a huge discount
and it was used
and USD was cheaper
if your strapped for cash id say you can live without it, but if its not that big a deal, id make the jump up. But realistically id say if you got the cheapest one youd be running everything off of micro sds so the difference would proabably get negated through that anyways
Switch seems fine as a handheld
Not good, but when I did play it it was at least manageable
okay, but youre so certain that this steam thing will be garbo?
alright thanks
Short of redesigns, I imagine it will flop yeah
even with the 256 id prolly still get a micro sd lol
They might redesign it though
I think it will be a wait and see kind of thing
I am however certain theyll discontinue it
Its Valve
They discontinue every piece of hardware they make
becasuse if its like 70% of what the switch is handheld, that would overpower how much better it would be as docked. like 70% of handheld switch, but 200% doocked switch, on paper
I highly doubt they'll do a redesign, especially with a release date of december
What do i care if they discontinue it, If i get one before that, its just a pc with buttons lol. itll work discontinued or not.
I doubt HL3 will happen 🤷
but i still will hope that this would be better than previous steam console, whatever it was called again
Steam Machine
ye
im pretty sure the last one was just a streaming device though wasnt it?
bc that flopped partly bc of streaming thing and stuff
Steam link yeah
Steam link was released around the same time as the machine
which was never popular enough
But yeah, they both flopped
right. but this is a computer with buttons and internal storage. apples and oranges
Game streamjng was in its early infancy then
There was a planned steam machine handheld actually
They just canned it because it didnt work out
people didn't see the reason to buy steam machine
which had all the disadvantages of consoles and PC
and it was linux-based
why, when there are xbox and playstation in the stores
and if you want play steam, there is such thing as PC
almost everybody have pc, right..?
Not nessesarily, those who use steam most definitely have a pc
However we ain't in the majority
but this thing pretty sure aims to rival switch and shake a bit the handheld market
plus another factor is that I would be able to use my Wacom one and clip studio with that deck. I have a junk pc that can barely run hades and deadcells. I could theoretically just get rid of that, and have this thing replace it and then some for pretty reasonable price. ASSUMING that it doesnt have major flaws that make it booty
There's a whole lot of gamers that have a console and that's it
well, i don't mean gaming pc, just any pc
even if it's 20 years old and can barely run HoMM3
Yeah, it's a huge wait and see
Ign have a video, but I have 0 trust in its accuracy of the final product because ign
That was actually a big part of the steam machines failure
It was aiming at steam users who ... already had a PC?
yep
and if you want to play on the big screen.. you kinda can do that, you just have to get a long HDMI
Whereas this is aiming at being a switch that's also a fully functioning pc?
thats what I got from it^
There's other handheld systems that exist that try to do the handheld part of what valve are trying to achieve
Multiple in fact
but again, they are not super popular
but how many of them are also fully functioning PCs? that can run photoshop and other pc centric software?
Hence the plural systems 😉
Ofc not, they're all niche as heck
None of the companies also have the reach of a nintendo
btw that was a genuine question not an ignorant statement lol so feel free to enlighten me
Neither does valve
Well as I said
There are literally handheld PCs
Theyre the same concept, just different configurations and different price points
Valves aim seems to be to undercut them by lowering power and storage
handheld pcs are called laptops (badum-tz)
so, as strong as ps4, but cheap as dirt?
They can, but not exactly in the same way valve are claiming they will be able to with the dock
something tells me from its design that it will have a massive battery and poor heating system
Ps4 isn't particularly powerful
Specs seem to be similar to current consoles
honestly battery is my biggest concern. HOW can the battery have any decent lifespan running like d2 on moderate settings, that seems bonkers
Yeah, effective cooling on mobile gaming stuff is hard
unless it's huge
one of my old laptops had battery heavy as a brick
you could kill somebody with it
and it was able to work for 4-5 hours of gaming
but again, for me personally, it would be like, Id use it at home docked most the time to replace my bunk laptop, but also be able to bring it to work and play something on lunch basically if it can last 1hr idgaf lol
not super heavy gaming though
Remember when gaming laptop battery life was a joke?
I think they revealed the battery already
mine dies in like 45 minutes watching hulu lmao
Yep, we now have laptops with 20+ hour battery life
Yeah 2-8 hours which means almost nothing
2-8 hours depending on load
4 hours on Portal 2 maxed
6 hours ob Portal 2 "30fps"
most of the time you have to detach your mobile device if there is no power source nearby
That's all the info we have
or if you want to get rid of wires for a bit
But assuming 2 hours is AAA titles max brightness, componants running at max
i mean, switch is like 2-6 hrs sooo
20+ hour battery life?
Judging by laptops, it'll probably run AAA titles at max for 30 minutes
Switch is a poor comparison for battery life, very differant specs
Though similar function
but thats what everyone is comparing it too, the handheld that can also run docked. maybe not a fair comparison, but a nessasary one
otherwise we would return to the old convo "what is so special about nintenduh"
Just make me a big ass phone with really good processor
PSP Phone flashback
Sony did that back in like 2010 lol member? wizzaccckkk
The sheer reach nintendo has in its incredibly dominant market position it has
NGage was one hell of a drug lol
i remember CPC market was a thing before iPhone
and then bam
no buttons anymore
suffer, dear gamers
Make me a thicc boy with buttons
Ok I cant seem to find the exact power consumption of modern games
Screw the camera
I remember a phone that had one of those folding covers that clipped on the back that had a garbo gamepad on it for like NFS mobile and it was absurd lol
