and then leaves you alone to figure out where that lab is

you rarely even get a map - best case scenario you're gonna get a blurry satelite picture that doesn't tell you much
and it's a picture, not a videogamy map
so it won't even tell you where you are in relation to... anything, really
yeah DE1 really wants you to figure out stuff yourself

it gives you A LOT of freedom in the way you tackle it's objectives
there's no wrong way of doing things there

so - i was doing a stealth build, right? which means i was pretty garbo at direct combat
anyway - there's this one bit where you got back to NY and there's supposed to be terrorists everywhere
i went back to a hotel, and i saw... no one - there was just hotel owner behind the counter acting really suspicious like "oh nah man - i can't leave this desk unatended - i'm gonna be fiiiiiiiiiiiine 
"
and i knew that behind that counter, hidden behind a wall around the corner there was an NSF terrorist pointing his gun at that poor guy, and i couldn't just run up there and take him out because i had no chance in direct combat - he would either take me out, or that hotel owner, or both of us
so... here's what i did
i picked up a fire extinguisher, stashed it in my inventory, sneaked up to that counter, carefully picked up all the pots and plants and other garbage that was on it and gently put it down on the floor.
then i took out that fire extinguisher out of my inventory, gently placed it on that counter with the nozzle pointing more or less in the direction of that terrorist but made sure that he wouldn't get triggered by it, and then just... pressed action on it
that 🧯 started spewing that white fog everywhere, and the second i heard that nsf terrorist screaming i ran inside only to see him covering his eyes from the gas

MD is interesting one for sure. It has jank and weirdness, but I say it's neat enough. Although would not recommend playing after playing HR. The cover system gets entirely new way of handling and it was quite dizzy experience to relearn it.

That can be a problem in MD too, but if only you go out of your way to stockpile everything and sale everything to get more. That was my experience, at least in the end game part. I didn't get to keep as many things in earlier parts.
I will say right away though. You get more experience if you find codes instead of hacking too. So there is that.

there's no way to farm experience
you don't get XP from hacking or killing or stealth or whatever
you get experience ONLY from exploring and finishing objectives - that's it
so it doesn't matter if you got there the "normal" way, or killed everyone on your path or solid-snake'd your way there or if you just stacked piles of garbage bags to climb to your objective
whatever gets you there - you get the same amount of XP
which is just great
your approach isn't biased towards farming more XP
it 100% depends on your inventory, skills and creativity

I'm curious - anyone here played Biomutant? I wonder how it is in terms of exploration, mainly. Especially when compared to HZD, which is absolutely fantastic in that aspect imo (and awesome game in general). The thing with fighting game characters is that much like actual traditional fighting games a punish leads into a whole combo, but since smash is percentage and not set hp it doesn’t work from a design perspective lol
Since they can just die at 0 while in a traditional one you’d maybe drop them to about 2/3 if it’s optimized
I just don’t like it from a design perspective and from player it’s too finicky for me to enjoy on a more serious level
Since all of them have combos that can carry to the blast zone which is crazy along with shield breaks and stuff
Just they don’t work in smash too well Imo
Hence why I was disappointed with kazuya since I also didn’t even know who he was when revealed

i really appreciate what this game did for this current FPS renaissance we're going through - bringing it to the mainstream and letting it really get some speed after 2011 ROTT kickstarted it

broken as hell, i wouldn't even call it a good game
but it's heart is in the right place and it kickstarted this return of proper FPS games

back to 2016 - besides the pacing, the game isn't really ballanced
SSG is broken, and so are most runes, while the rest of them is just boring and useless
multiplayer is just bad - i was dunking on it since the open beta and nothing has changed there
there isn't really much in terms of weapon mods - as in - every weapon has one mod that is objectively better, rendering the other one pointless
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the guardian bossfight crashes on PS4
right at the end
