nowadays i don't think you can even buy vanilla bl1 - i think it always comes with DLC
and while that "zombie island of dr zed" is... meh
secret armory is amazing - as good as DLCs get from that era
and moxxis arenas are just as good
with some banging tunes to match 
also bl1 is the only one where you actually get to be a space cowboy
cause for some reason they got rid of the revolver class in bl2 and just rolled it into one "pistol" class 
pro tip for making bl1 more enjoyable - unless you're playing lilith, don't bother with your action skill - put all your points into passives

Well, I must admit that I don't know have much to base off in terms of gameplay, as I have only played Three Houses and Heroes. Still, Three Houses is quite the comfort game for me, being both my first switch game and first main FE game. Zero Mission has the Chozo Statues that point you to where you need to go, but I cleared that game in about 4 hours, not speedrunning it, just grabbing items and looking around thuroughly, all in my first playthrough.
it's a solid if not short game in the namesake series.

personally I prefer a faster fall and run speed like in Zero Mission compared to the middle speed and floatier descents from super or Samus Returns.
I can only hope they up the speeds just a little bit before release for Dread.
somewhere between Samus Returns and Zero Mission should be the sweet spot, to appeal the most players, though I've already said how I'd prefer that scale to lean.

the main thing is that the jump in Zero Mission reached it's arc and back to the ground much quicker compared to other games,

The first game is more about the movement mechanics and story, still an overall great experience, I've completed it.
the 2nd game gives you more movement upgrades closer to the start and actually has boss fights and fleshed out combat, if you've played Hollow Knight, it takes a few nods from that game. Easily the better of the 2 games in my opinion as a game, but spoiler:||the story isn't as good as the first game imo, the ending felt kind of bad.||
Hollow knight is a steal at the current price, regardless if it's on a sale or not
just by the sheer amount of content in the game and the amount of time you can spend in the game trying to get everything, though it has plenty of "how was I supposed to find this without a guide" moments when trying to access some of the content that was added post release.
