they've been pumping out awesome content, month after month, for over a year

and it's all free

master levels, skins, models

and sure - while there is paid DLC
it's the proper kind of DLC - a new chapter in the story, a coherent set of new levels, new enemies exclusive to those levels and new mechanics

and you don't even need the base game for it - you just buy just the DLC and play it

which i guess makes it a standalone expansion?

but yeah - for idsoftware - it's hard to find a AAA developer who would do that for a mainly singleplayer game
