love how the bloodborne demake is very real and an actual project
like such kind of stuff, until they put tank controls into such
Graphics from PS1 times was already creepy as it is
since lil rant: been playing haunted demo disc 2021 and holy hell are tank controls annoying.
everyone knows this but games are cheap if you can wait.
whoever puts these in their game are devils
Now it gets the atmosphere even better
Article from 3 days ago. HZD got a PC version, there is hope, right?
It's a little more complicated for bb since Sony's japan studio was directly involved in development
I've given up hope for Bloodborne PC. Until it happens I've buried that hatchet.

Bloodborne PC at home
You misspelled Hollow Knight.
You misspelled Blasphemous
Damn, 10 hours into Witcher 3 and I already feel the big open world plus all the ? icons all over the map makes me feel like dropping the game
Sometimes, I miss the simplicity of design the Diablo series has, at least in the early ones. You get into a floor, kill everything on it, explore every bit of pixel that floor has, and move on to the next floor
You always know where to go next, and you always know when it is best to put down and continue later
I ignore most of them, until I got bored and decide to ride to the nearest question mark
According to stats a lot of ppl dont even finish witcher 3 iirc
Shame
I did a Google search on this, wow, I’m surprised a lot of people didn’t finish this despite everyone saying how good it is
But ppl finish skyrim and replay it with mods
not many people finish the story quests imao
in skyrim
they mostly do side quests and such and play mods as said before
10% so 1/10 people i guess
Such is being open world
lmao you should see Cyberpunk's
the clutter on the map will instill fear into you
Well, now that I think about it, seeing as maybe I’m just too spoiled with indies these recent years, with all the Dead Cells and Hades and Hyper Light Drifter, probably lend itself to what I think about Witcher 3
Indies have gotten so good design wise these few years, that I feel awkward playing more traditional AAA games
Not saying these traditional games are bad, but I feel like I gotta re-sync my mindset, I guess
True
As for me i mostly been enjoying playing everspace endless space combat.
had the same experience with No More Heroes
after a few adjustment
it's one of the best game I've ever played
Also I have been playing resident evil 4
So far I find the tank control to be ok but great with keyboard and Mouse
RE4 had tank controls?
Yes
Just ignore them lul. You don't have to do any of the icons. You don't have to do all of the side quests.
If you come in hoping to see everything and do everything in one go, yeah, it will be exhausting. Pick what you think is interesting.
More than a quarter of players finish it, which is about average I think?
oh man I remember when I dropped Witcher 3
Here are the stats I compiled a couple of months ago, a bit outdated but the ballpark is there.
Some well-known games global "first run" completion rate per Steam:
The Binding of Isaac: 74% (Mom), 36.8% (Mom's Heart)
Hades: 43.8%
Risk of Rain 2: 29.4%
Witcher 3: 27.3%
Transistor: 25.1%
Bastion: 15.2%
Darkest Dungeon: 3.2% (lol)
I like got to very late game
then I got kind of bummed due to XP system and me well being overleveled for other sidequests
so I just kind of was done with it
darkest dungeon one oof, was rough one
Darkest Dungeon is one of those games don't finish but love to play
I beat all bosses except the mansion stuff, went on second mission and like send one of my best team just got killed off
they were all 6 level too
My friend has 924 hours in it and only finished it once.
which kind of silly of me to drop the game due to game working as intended I suppose, but can't really take having to do missions to make up for these missing characters.
He has one save file and play the vanilla and expansions, and then mod the hell out of it.
I also did like a workshop dive for other runs after that to have a giggle with friends, but never gone past much in these runs
my rarest darkest dungeon achievement is one with 3.3%
where you have to make one of your characters die to traps
which I intentionally did
😎 proudest achievement
borderlands 3 epic game
I wish Borderlands 3 wasn't A, helmed by Randy Pitchford, and B, had better writing
Because I really feel like it's the strongest mechanically of the series
I think I got that one organically too, can't recall. But other deaths that like "die to starvation" or wall
you gotta work for these I think lol
I still find it funny my rarest achievement are from me playing Dungeon of The Endless
I wonder what mine is
really speaks how many people just kind of have it in their library
you can go to your steam profile and change what shows on it, from there you can pick option for "rarest achievements" display and it shows top 6 rarest achievements you have
My top 6 are Stay Frosty (Warframe), Untouched (Shovel Knight), Good Company (Magicka), Interred With a Vampire (Magicka), Silent Withdrawl (Monaco), and Mission Improbable (Magicka)
4 of mine rarest achievement are Darkest Dungeon, and 2 are in Ghost Recon Phantoms lmao
I totally forgot about Ghost Recon Phantoms, was briefly crazy about it in highschool for like a month.
whenever I look back into my library I always get a whiplash of "oh yeah I was very fanatic about it for a month or so"
Ghost Recon Phantoms is so dead it's off Steam xD
I am an achievement holder of a no longer existing game.
I am always reminding myself Ace of Spades died so long ago.
that was like my first game on steam that I got and bought and played for a while
I mean that is fair
civ 6 is better anyway or if you were aware you played Endless Legends
which is in my opinion just better civ 5 with very bad game design for combat, which thankfully can be autoskipped
think my biggest problem with civ 5 is how similar all the leaders are.
I think civ is one of those games that I am overwhelmed by trying to optimize my moves without having enough information.
I am generally confused as for what I should do...
I mean that is fair. These kind of games have a lot of information to take in which can be a lot to take in first time
though I have been playing these for a while I am still not as good, but I think I get the general idea
which is "yeah I must be cowardly preparing my armies and also maintain resources. Dunno when I can get attacked."
maybe or get into different game of same genre, since honestly the latter entries have way better tutorials and well making you understand what is what and what for.
just don't buy beyond earth
for obvious reasons
yee
that does remind me
I should probably retry Skulls of the Shogun like 4th time
I am really bad at its system but I do want to try and see if I can beat it lol
though I have my xcom chimera for now
Xcom chimera is very short and relatively easy
You can probably first try most things on hard mode tbb
It really is baby xcom
Sooner or later, I will have to do it though, for the sake of completion. Sure, I can just do the main quest to the end and I’ll finish the game, but then the sense of completion isn’t there because I skipped a lot of stuffs
Have you played Isaac or Risk of Rain?
Damn, this is more OCD-ish the more I think about it lol
because if you think the witcher 3 has too many things to collect, then isaac and ror are on another level :D
Aren’t these roguelites though?
yeah
Doesn’t it requiring multiple runs to complete kinda build in their DNA or something? Or are we talking really different things here?
You are right. I am generally talking about the amount of stuff to collect.
Ahh, I see
and since they are roguelites, you will need the unlocks because they affect the gameplay
while you can ignore most of the icons in w3 because they give you like gold or kinda mediocre weapons.
😔 wish that was case for me. I still screw up a bunch of missions and have to redo imao
I embraced Blueblood as my savior
Well, i know what to replay now
- Bastion
- Transistor
- Hades
- Rayman 2: The Great Escape
- Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Honorable mentions: NFSU and NFSU2, many songs were very good, but they weren't written specifically for the game so it's a bit different. Also, I loved the appearance of Cool Kids of Death in This War of Mine, as those songs fit very well in there and that was a really good and unappreciated Polish band.
May I reccomend you to hear Furi's ost? One of my favs ever
And a must if you are into EDM
I would recommend The Last Remnant and Cultist Simulator soundtrack here. Rock on the former and dark atmospheric mystery on the latter
I guess everyone’s here has some experience with Dead Cells, but, yeah, that game has good soundtracks too
Most of the NFS games has good selections of contemporary songs of several genres. I like the soundtracks, even when the games itself are mostly bad lol
Outer Wilds, Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, The Messenger
Isaac has so many secrets it feels like the secrets have secrets..
And I don’t play it enough via steam to get the Achievements either

Still love the game though
(also Pyre)
- Grounseed has AMAZING music but I haven't actually played that one for obvious reasons
I haven't even listened to the full soundtrack yet, only like the first seven tracks
Okay I'll stop
I recognize the falconeer as one of the game mentioned here before.
I've heard of Dreamscaper too
I bought Phoenotopis because is a remake of a Flash (RIP) game I enjoyed back in the day
It's the closest thing to Hades I've played
And I'm loving it
yeah that exactly why I bookmarked it
That's*
maybe now's the time to get on with it since I finished Ys 8 today
Oh. How was it?
7/10
I finished it 2 weeks ago
Maybe 6.5
Also yes I saw
It's like.... It has potential to be so good and then it doesn't follow through consistently
Raids are hell obviously
But the story also has issues which are best characterized as trying too hard
Honestly it was the ending what killed me
I was just laughing out loud that that stuff
But hey ||goddess!Dana|| was very pretty
It just felt all so pointless
And ||the hug|| scene was nice tbh
LMAO that's just the whole game
I lowered my expectations on purpose
From the very beginning
So that's why I can say I have a nice time
Had*
Still I think I like the older games better cause they knew what they were doing
8 feels like it's pretending to be something else
Namely Kiseki lol
I just didn't like ||erased the Eternians from existence||
i guess that's fair though I was expecting that the whole time
To the point where I was looking forward to it lol
Rpg rule #23: ||you have an promising flourishing ancient civilization? No you don't. Absolutely not||
lol
RPG rule 1: Don't walk onto tall grass alone.
Also true
BUT
you know what was the dumbest part of the ending
||the parrot being a goddess thing||
ugh man if you want me to take that seriously you're asking the impossible
Lul, I hated the parrot even more after that
That voice was killing me
But well ||Given is implied the Eternian souls still exist is all good||
anyone 'member Road Rash?
Death End Request? Man you must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel
I actually enjoyed except the dumb twists
And I'm dying to play YS IX when it comes in PC
I didnt think any of the twists were dumb 🤷
Well except ||Paro||
||That one was silly||
Paro I hated in general
Also its not confirmed that ||Eternia never existed||
||Just that they werent on the island||
Anyway, Death End Request is from the one company whose JRPGs I dont touch just because
Too much of a focus on fanservice for my taste
Fair enough
Also if you didnt like Ys VIIIs story because you thought much of it was pointless, you wont like IXs
No spoilers, but even I didnt like the ending much
Anyway, the older Ys games had much simpler stories, which meant it was less easy to mess them up I suppose
To be honest I enjoyed the 99% of the game so I can't complain
If the same is true for IX then I'll be quite happy
Well, no spoilers
Im also lacking a JRPG to play tbh
Or rather
The kind I want
I could play Trails from Zero, but I vaguely know what happens in it already
I have 3 or 4 RPGs to reccomend
After awakening from her coffin, Arra recalls little but the last words spoken by her father, “Destroy the Amber Throne.” Looking into the sky, she finds what was once his magnificent castle is now floating in the sky, far above the world below. Arra must find a way to reach the castle before others catch wind of it, lest the powerful Amber Thro...
$14.99
140
All steam
Looks pretty, but I dont really do turn-based
I think I already reccomended here Ocean's heart
Which is Zelda NES with plot
It was awesome and beautiful
Might give it a shot
Aeternoblade I and II
I say names instead of linking pages to avoid getting botted btw
Iron Danger
Ngl, Aeternoblade looks extremely low-budget
And Finally Bladed Fury
Yeah
It was charming but janky
Have you played ELEX? If you are into eurojank you may like it
anyone played Little Nightmares? How scary is it for non-horror fan
Quite tbh
Although it was more of feeling a constant tension
Great game as it's the sequel
Oh Library of Ruina is releasing next month. That's cool
It's the Sequel to Lobotomy Corporation and that game was quite cool
didn't days gone have issues at launch lmao
i'm all for supporting devs but if a game's on sale i'm buying it on sale
fox u kno the rule about dodging the filter, even if you're quoting smth lol
anyway that dudes full of himself
well that was a direct copy paste from the article, I didn't try to dodge anything.
just wanted to show a quick tldr of the article
but i get it.
yeah you cant post that stuff
looking back into it, it was delayed a couple times, was originally supposed to come out in 2018, came out almost midway through 2019. reception mixed, most of the criticism was about shoddy story, characterization and various technical issues
looking back to my play history, $10-25 indie games last me a lot longer than any AAA games.
the only AAA game that I put extensive amount of time in was Witcher 3 and that was on sale at $15 lol.
it is just hard to justify pay full price for a game at launch except if you want to join the hype, play some multiplayer for a bit.
then again I feel like im preaching to the choir here because most people here mostly play indie games anyway.
Days gone is such a weird game
Like completely sailed under the night because there was nothing truly memorable about it
in an age where games release more commonly in broken states, its harder and harder to justify paying full price for a product you dont know if youre going to enjoy or even be able to play. devs that think theyre entitled to people paying full price for their content better make sure their game works first 🤪
If I buy the game at sale & end up really loving it I tend to buy another version of it if it’s on multiple platforms
I think the guy is just sour from the bad sales and a bit justification is there I guess. Mean let's be real, there are quite a bit of examples of broken janky games that were bought by many people for a full price or so and they did all too well. DayZ and PUBG for example.
Like plague inc I got on.. 4? Platforms
Isaac I got on 4 too..
got hades 3 times for 2 platforms cuz of the physical release
also can we take a moment to talk about the implication of that statement, if you love a game, pay full price for it.
so if you don't pay full price, you don't love the game?
I think this is why the statement sounds so arrogant. there are better ways to phrase what he wanted.
If you play the game & continue to play the game
Then you might love it
I know I got a bunch of games I got & tried & played & then just abandoned cuz they weren’t for me after all
Yeah they are way better ways to phrase that but since that fail I just think the dude is unable to properly do that. Devs in the industry don't seem to recover well after their game fails poorly. It like ends up as a mark that stays forever.
at least in most cases
But I got younger nephews that might enjoy playing them on my consoles when they grow up so it might not have been total waste
well opening your mouth like that and making a fool of yourself to everyone on the internet certainly isnt going to help
Yeah, not going to, but sure it hard to deny that human nature kind of just popped in in that interview.
now this guy is just going to be known for "that guy that blamed consumers for games not getting sequels bc they didnt buy games at full price"
🤡
yep. i guess this is why PR department is a thing lul
like that one time No Man's Sky dev overhyped their game. in hindsight, i think the dude is both incompetent and malicious, but more incompetent overall.
I didn’t even understand that when it came out cuz I hadn’t seen any of the promo stuff & suddenly everyone was angry at no mans sky devs
i heard of it, thought it would be a $20 indie game
but i think the $60 price point really pushed the crowd over the limit lmao
i liked the drama that ensured, ngl
nothing more petty and interesting than vidya drama
I don’t care of follow that kind of drama
But I’m very happy to read up on the history some years later
See how this moment changed things
Good for you :D it's my guilty pleasure
I like history
i dont think there was inherently any maliciousness with NMS, just a lot of lofty promises that couldnt be kept. they did end up fulfilling a lot of them later down the line though i think? so good for them, they kept working on the game until it was something to be proud of, rather than just running away
was still pretty bad how it all came about but you know most devs would have probably just dropped the game and run
Was mostly Sony's part in that one and well the fact the team didn't have a PR department so the main director kind of just spewed stuff not realising anything and being very nervous on stage. I mean to be real, I don't think any game development team an indie one too, expects that before release of your first studio's game you will be in a bunch of interviews.
I’m gonna get the waiting game
let's play shogi
The maliciousness didn't manifest in the beginning. But as the hype started to build, the dev gave in to it, promising more and more unrealistic goals. Basically they were tempted, "corrupted."
ive seen some of the interviews and he did seem distinctly out of his element most of the time. all the more reason he shouldnt have been the one doing interviews but hindsight. at the very least they stayed committed to the game despite the severe backlash

The one from the Nintendo indie
no i dont buy into that
Shogi?
I suck at the basic version in clubhouse games
Well I do. In some interviews, he was asked about something that couldn't be in the game, but he said yes anyway. Not to mention the blatant lie about multiplayer.
Yeah I'll have to pass. Sorry.
Speaking of waiting, only 4 days left until Nier Replicant.
wait what AGHSAJGASJGHASLJKGH
Is that a remake?
- w * yeah, it will take a lot of trials to know whether if we are good at something.
Like in art, music, cooking...
Yup!
I often give it 100 tries.
before I conclude that I am bad at it
I don’t need 100 tries to know I’m not good at shogi
And I’m far beyond 100 tries at chess

April 22nd for Japan, 23rd for WW.
Am I mad for wanting that waiting game on my switch?
400 days something?
It looks too slow imo
But you are already waiting for it so you are basically playing the game
The longing
I just
It’s gonna take over a year of irl time to get to that “ending?”
Like actually?
And I’m curious how it’ll be to have a game that’s just.. playing without me having to play it
Ye
400 irl days
You just have to start the game
And then you literally don’t have to touch it for 400 days to complete it
It’s up to you if you want to do stuff in it or not
Interesting premise.
What's that game that forces you to wait 8 irl hour to see the end credit?
I’m curious if I’ll feel more relaxed with that then with animal crossing
Animal Crossing always ends up being really stressful for me cuz I always feel like I have to play to get every item/fish/fossil/insect/etc in the shortest amount of time
Most likely cuz that’s what I’m used to from other games
Doesn’t help that there’s daily things to do in animal crossing & when you don’t check in every day the villagers notice & comment on it & guilt trip you
Just exile them.
If I ever feel like torturing myself again
It’s there
Waiting
It’s been.. almost a year now
A fate worse than death 💀
Well, over 6 months
It's Tamagotchi, with extra steps.
I always start animal crossing intending to relax & have fun & not stress
But then I unlock the museum..
And I just forget along the way that animal crossing is supposed to be relaxing

Some "intense" games ironically become relaxing for me after a while.
Mhmm
Hades and RoR2
I find Isaac relaxing
That, too
And plague inc when there’s not a pandemic going on irl
Except with Isaac I'm a bit salty when the RNG is bad
Lmao I picked it up in March 2020 because of the pandemic
I got explosive thoughts 3 times..
During the same run
Cuz victory lap
Even worse
See item take item
I had the one where if I take dmg bombs appear
Leaving items on the table sounds like a waste.
And then I had my bombs have bombs
updated the link: lishogi.org/GaMoed5E
And mega blast + fiery blast + whatever made my bombs shoot out lasers
Every time I took dmg I couldn’t move cuz lag
And the bombs spawned more bombs
I hope you have explosion immunity lul
I picked up some reduce dmg along the way
Eventually I just did afk build
I had so many friends with me & I was guppy-leviathan-seraphim
Flies everywhere

Especially after I picked up 2 50% off coupons so everything in the shops was free
And I had the “shops never run out” one
I got this Big Chungus Isaac. I know you can make him much bigger but this is without shenanigans
Part of the charm of roguelites is those absurdly OP moment and the accompanying visual diarrhea
I think I managed to get footage of some of my bomb lag, but I need to find a card reader first
You save your footage to an SD card?
It’s from my switch 😗
can you see it @polar dragon ?
My little line of friends

my 3 explosive thoughts are even visible in there lol
And the 3 Bob brai
Was about to say haha
I couldn't even move all of them in 1 room..
there wasn't enough space to get the whole line going

I was very happy when I got all the bomb stuff early on..
but as I got further into the victory laps..
I managed to get to victory lap 4 this time though before I finally died
worst part is that I'm not even aiming for victory laps - I want to get angel rooms for key so I can beat mega satan
Well rest assured that Stanley won't stand a chance vs these tactical nukes lol

Have you tried Repentance yet?
barely
since I can only play it on my actual potato pc that's not designed for games in any way or fashion
even basic isaac lags on it
so slow shudder
but I wanted to test it
I'll get it for switch when that drops for sure
aaah
I really wanna get exploding kittens
it's on the switch now
How does that work?
you can play with friends, play with strangers, or play by yourself
it works just like any other multiplayer boardgame?
you either play cpu or online?
or local friends I guess
and subnautica is here too
guh
since when did so many games appear
TT
So many games, so little time.
I just realized I had 52 hours in Fire Emblem Echoes.
I thought it was 30 hours max
...
I was just gonna see how big Pokemon Snap will be to check if I'll have room, but I'm lazy so I just looked up "pokemon" in the eshop..
the only things that don't have "purchased" on them is pokken related stuff & the extra things for pokemon quest >.>
aah, I wanna get Turnip Boy commits Tax Evasion
"Play as an adorable, yet trouble-making turnip. Avoid taxes, solve plantastic puzzles, and take on massive beasts in a journey to tear down a corrupt vegetable government!"
the summary for Turnip Boy commits Tax Evasion
and it's just the coolest thing
I wanna play it so bad
it releases in 3 days
I eat veggies
As you should. Eat your greens kid.
yes dad

whenever I see ResE rev I am reminded of how much of a trigger finger I have when I'm playing games where things can suddenly jump out at me

Resident Evil?
I'm not good with horror games either
Lul I just stay far far away from horror games
unless I count the ones I think I have on steam from sale bundles
I don't play em enough
When I was a kid I was legitimately scared playing Warcraft 2 (not even 3 lol)
I got better much still, not a horror fan.
When I was a kid, my brother booted up ResE 1 and invited me to take the control.
first encounter with zombie, I ran crying to my mom
I tried a little Silent Hill just to see what it was like
I am Artifex Mundis greatest enemy
I love the mindless "point & click search for stuff mystery" games
and they have a ton
but I only buy them when they're 90% off cuz I can't justify buying them for more
those are fun
I feel so bad for doing it, but I also can't bring myself to buy them at full price when that's around 15$ or so
15 is really affordable, well to me
there's too many of them & I finish them in a few hours..
do they have replayability?
not really since I complete them on highest difficulty
I just love the puzzles & finding stuff
darn
I can finish the game off the same day I open it
for the first time
I used to play a lot of them on my phone before
Kids these days and their smartphones
Back in my days we play games on Nokia N Gage or a Sony Ericsson.
I've had both a nokia & a sony
and I've had a walkman
and a tiny thing that I don't know the name of cuz it came from an airplane
I used to have a flip phone
and I had a phone w a flip screen & stylus
I think I'd had over 15 phones before my first iphone
I kept inheriting them
hehe
My first "smartphone" was a Nokia Lumia
& the only reason it's still an iphone is cuz I'm too used to the system & it was an emergency new purchase & I didn't have any other backup of my stuff outside itunes
Man the Lumia line was stylish
I member playing Fruit Ninja on my mom's iPhone and thought that was the sleekest stuff
nokia golf tour
sNakE
idk for me - I tend to stay away from fps
Me neither, I play them time to time, but not super invested.
I like the "they don't shoot me back anymore" part
Most AAA games are shooty
Back in my days, most AAA games are RTS
Damn kids and their Fornite
I think the one game I know I've played where I had to shoot was tomb raider 2013
and even there I preferred the bow & sniping
I got that game for free on steam i think
I like swords, so I'm more on the action games side
I like... random stuff
beaten KH2 7 times
I also like puzzles
you will never figure out my gaming likes & dislikes based on the games I own
you might see some stuff yes, but then you'll think you have me figured out & I will hate the game you suggest instead of loving it
you fight monsters
you get stuff from monsters
you get armor from stuff you got from monsters
you fight monsters for more stuff for armor from stuff you got from monsters
and you pet the dog & high five the cat
I bet you would love a game called Prinny Can I Really Be A Hero
cant be mh too easy
I've never played modded skyrim
then again, switch
AH!
I remember an FPS I loved!
Bioshock
I think I loved it mostly cuz it was underwater
cuz I'm struggling to enjoy infinite
it's just so boring that it's up in the air
I wanna be under water
tbh, the only thing that elevates infinite is the DLC
Aw I like Infinite buy didn't like thr dark atmosphere of the first two
burial at sea
I know
I know the whole story to the whole bioshock franchise
the sad part is that the gamer part of my brain insists I play all of infinite before I play the dlc

which controller are we talking about?
Yes

It is now
bottom is b
yes, but IFR doesn't play by those rules
Alright I meant the bottom one, doesn't have to be A
IFR does it's own thing & after playing some HZD on my brothers ps4 I'm wondering if they didn't just try to use ps controls on a switch cuz some of the combat mechanics was really familiar
good for me though cuz that meant I knew how to fight as Aloy
local Nintendo department here recently changed the prices from regional up to $80-85 for a number of games
almost x1,5 times
considering most of the people here never get more than $200-240 each month
minus taxes, minus food, you left with almost nothing
Me, seeing more titles that are 3k rubles - pain
But yeah regional pricing been going wild. Know it became a problem in Australia more too. It's mostly AAA games, but still hell.
regional prices is what keeps local market barely alive.. take it away - and people will have to come back to either pirating, or giving up the gaming as such
so yeah
Yeah, agreed. I am more and more turned away by prices. Like I think I never buy for full price noawadays since it's not as valuable for time, unless I really want to buy the game and it's under 500 ruble price. Always on the clock waiting for sales or singular price drop.
same thing mostly.. i can't even remember any game that costs more than 2000 rubles, me or my friend have ever bought
if the price was significant, like Rockstar games, the amount of dedicated time was also at least 300+ hours and counting
like, every day a bit
I mostly sink money during summer sale or winter sale. Since you know more free time and better sales at that time. Even then I try to grab as many games on sale there.
same, also mine and my friend's birthdays are during winter as well, so, holidays are a good time to use the sales to buy some presents and postpone the delivery
huh
we thought about buying at least one switch for us last year
at least slim version.. but with political things going on now i doubt it will be even possible anytime soon
I thought of getting Switch one day, but considering its price, price for games on it plus the need to buy the online, sticking to PC and upgrading it sounds a better prospect.
Switch is honestly quite the luxury.
sorry to bring up dead conversation that happened while I was asleep, but that's the thing, I'd say I liked Ys 8 overall or else I would not spend 65 hours with it!
It's just conflicting for me because I'm plagued with thinking 'omg this game is kinda good but it could be so much better'
I'm excited for 9 regardless cause I heard it will be more focused and the biggest flaw is the music that I can just turn off
Sucks to see the music quality decrease but also it's whatever
Doesn't help that I wanted to see what 8 is for a year or two and couldn't until now, and also I was itching for a proper rpg, even if it's cliched, so that built up my hype a liiiittle bit
I was about to say somewhere along the line of switch games are a bit exp here, just to find out it's actually cheaper here
but I guess if you take into account of cost of living it's kind of expensive but "worth it" so to speak
for my case, I don't blame games for being that expensive as much as our lives being that poor
ofc, if we could get $1200+ a month, gaming wouldn't be a luxury anymore
but this country is pretty much done for
I know its a meme at this point but I found a game called Dandy Ace that feels like a mix of Hades and Transistor and its pretty good https://youtu.be/SyvWY_vD9UM
🍮Wizkidace takes a look at Dandy Ace. A brand-new isometric, action rogue-lite developed by Mad Mimic studios and currently available on Steam. You play as the titular protagonist and fancy magician Dandy Ace who's trapped in a cursed mirror and must fight through hordes of enemies with his magical cards in order to escape. It's a unique rogueli...
Space Dandy
Honestly Ys IXs music isn't bad mostly
Its just not as memorable
Except for the first boss theme, that one is indeed bad
To me the biggest flaw with IX is the last arc
Update - The Longing has a very nice atmosphere, a timer counting down the 400 days at the top of the screen, and if you choose to sit down & read you can actually sit down & read the books you have.
My longest available atm is over 2000 pages long (because of how tiny the screen is, but still!)
Truly a fascinating “game”
It’s kinda fun just.. taking it slow
Stopping in certain places to let the shade think & understand things
I found this route with a gap & the prompt was jump & the little guy said that he’d rather wait for the stalactite to fall down
But that it might take a week or so for that to happen
I’ve got the location saved now so I can walk back next Monday to see if the path is open to me
yeah, i've heard of the longing. it's an absolutely crazy concept, but somehow it works.
Idle Game plus Walking Simulator
I got it on switch & I’m really enjoying it so far~
Nice to hear
nice, 399 days left to do so.
I bought Later Alligator
I like the game
I like the vibe, music is on point
The puzzles tilt me sometimes

Hmm
I’ll def take the time to read moby richard during this time
I guess my goal in the game besides the “wait 400 days” one is to make lots of drawings & to fill my bookshelf

Moby Richard =.=
Proxy
ik, it's funny
Nightwing is not allowed in this server
As I have said before, Proxy is a punk ass bot.

imagine there are still guys living with that name
PS Store Update: Players will be able to continue to purchase games on PS3 and PS Vita: https://t.co/hLTznJeiML
PSN: The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.
"PSP commerce functionality will retire on July 2, 2021 as planned. "
so they backtracked on everything but psp due to the backlash they got for it basically

good
Still sad about PSP, but at least the vita can try to live a little longer
And the ps3
i feel bad for all the vita devs that had to cancel projects bc they found out about the news at the same time everyone else did, and now vita store isn't closing down anymore
Mhmm
I mean, depending on how long ago it happened they might reverse the cancellation, but that still sucks
At least its good that they keep those stores
Im fine with the PSP one being shut down just because of how old the PSP is, and how good emulation for it is
I can’t do emulation, and I still have a fully functional PSP so I’m a little bummed, but I guess I can just see if there’s any games I really want on it that I don’t already have & that I can’t find on the vita & just buy them before the deadline 😗
My problem is that I don’t have a big memory card on my PSP cuz all my games are physical
Maybe it's timr to pick up a vita for cheap
I'm kind of impressed with myself
I've already managed to find a place that froze my timer in The Longing
just what you need in this game
at least I've found some new books
so you can wait more in a waiting game?
Yes.. it’s basically an eternal walkway where time stands still
But hey, I’m getting paper & books so yay

I’m hoping to get some more stuff in here before I go back to my cave
To pass the time when time is moving again
ScourgeBringer was latest game I think. But it was released before the info
I can recommend the game btw
Celeste/Dead Cells vibes
scourgebringer also borrows heavily from monolith but monolith is criminally overlooked anyway so
PSP emulation is really really easy tbh
PPSSPP is just a good emulator
For both PC and Android
PPSSPP has a proper interface and the saving is super intuitive. I wish more emulators looked and felt like this. I wish I was more enthralled by the PSP's library so I could use it more.
DraStic is a god tier DS emulator also
looks like it's android exclusive
it is
use bluestack to emulate android
use android to emulate DS
it's big brain time
i want to do that just for the meme
actually you can't because accessing the file system on bluestack is a pain in the butt
source: I tried
looks like i'm not doing it now
you can give it your own shot
perhaps
Has anyone here played dead cells, if so tell me what you think about it
Fox, step on up to the plate
I'm thinking about buying it
emulate a window virtual machine
emulate ppsspp on said virtual machine
emulate GBA on said ppsspp
emulate SNES on GBA
can we go deeper?
it's pain
do you like Hades? do you like 2D side scrolling games?
mainly because I suck
I hate both of those
And I thought you had plenty of nice things to say...
I mean it's a good game lol
Now I just wanna hear more
Yes
imagine that kinda combat, with less pogo stick-ing and more timing based attacks
Cool
and parry is a big thing
I didn't buy hollow knight because of that reason
parry + rolling a lot
and don't get hit because limited healing past the first run.
it's a fun game
don't get me wrong.
hi
Hello
@polar dragon thank you, imma think about it now since I know more about the game
yeah look up some gameplay vids
DC is fun but the don't get hit mentality drained my sanity too quickly
Well I've been playing lc4 on my hell mode save so I think I'm ready for that
Yea that’s what I hated about Dead Cells aswell
1 mistake is a run killer
I played up to 3BC and couldnt beat that after a lot of tries, I might pick it up again sometime idk...
Dead Cells became kinda boring after not getting anywhere for 20 effing runs
Also no blueprints
But maybe I'll get back to it, they played with the difficulty for a bit in the latest update
So, I may have screwed up a bit with my endless time stop exploration
I told the shade to walk back to base about an hour ago & he’s still walking back in the timeless realm 😅
Hope the books I got are good ones!
Dead Cells is hard but fun.
I really recommend looking up better players when you start to get stuck. I started watching someone who uses dual-binding (literally binding both attack keys to one button, then using two weapons that work together), started using it myself, and it got me from 1 Boss Cell to 4.
Wait.. time stopped?
In The Longing
Oh
I found an area where the countdown timer stopped
I explored it for some time & now I’ve finally managed to walk out & escape again!
Only took 1.5-2h
Imma just act like I know what you are talking about
A game that takes 400 irl days to complete
And I just discovered it might have multiple endings
How many days have you been playing it
but what if it takes 400 days for each playthrough?
I got it yesterday
It does since there’s no saving
Other then auto save
It plays in the background
If you don't sleep then you will have more hours in a day...
You can just start the game, get the countdown going & then not touch it for 400 days
Jump back in & complete it
It’s a.. different kind of game
Sounds fun
As the last servant of a slumbering king whose powers have faded, it’s your task to wait for the awakening... for 400 days!

Now spend the rest of your 400 days reading that over and over again until you go insane
Nono
I also have Moby richard available
And some of Aesop’s fables
Some other poems & fairy tales
Moby richard is my favorite book
3 books by Nietzsche
Well.. the shade can draw
And people who want to be successful
And once I find a tool I can mine some crystals & stuff to decorate my cave
I found a.. horse head? And I’ve mounted it on my wall
me over here who proceeds to look up the endings
You have to wait 400 days for the endings
Unless time skipping is a thing
Oh
at least 2 runs have been done
but yea im sure you can manipulate the clock or smth
or some endings cut it early
who knows

The Longing All Endings video
if youre curious
ofc spoilers
also content warnings of death and suicide
just to let yall know
I don't care about spoilers, mainly because I don't have a switch and if I did I am not waiting for 400 days
It’s on steam
Frick you
Bye
You wont do it until 400 days iirc
Fun Fact, before a patch any ending was final
And you couldn't start over or savescum
Still can't the latter
yea but at least its not deadass 400 days of game since from what i can find you have stuff to make the clock faster
Yeah and the time runs when you are not playing
The final cut vision quests is fun
So far im doing the moralist, ultraliberal and communist quest
Moralist one is pretty wack, i ended up getting abducted
Ultra liberal makes you ultra rich
oh ew, I mean good but there's not much to spend money on
Like in your ui theres a tab above the clock that shows your net worth
U cant use it tho so kinda useless
Which is funny
the true criticism of capitalism "What the hell are you spending it on anyway?"
The most funny thing about it is we getting the stock shares for that by selling trash from cindy to the container guy as art pieces
OH i forgot about container dude. Oh he's so good
Ye i scammed 100 real from him
nice
The smoker on the balcony is my favourite character for absolutely no reason
Maybe because hes in the homosexual underground
shh s e c r e t s
I stole that one outfit from him and spoke to him close to the end of the game and his dialogue is so great
Oh you can talk to him after getting it in the same room, make suure you talked to him, pick up the clothes and talk to him back
Oh woah huh thats cool
Ok gotta replay it again. I tried playing it with my dad because he's obsessed with politics and philosophy but he's too slow for it
Its from the directors book
Heard its getting translated and released this year
So maybe thats more of your fathers forte
Oh nice! Thank u
Australia's attempting to ban a bunch of Disco Elysium stuff but they're not doing great so hopefully I'll be able to get it
You can get any countries steam acc by changing country of residence, the problem is paying in the same currency
It still locked, i tried making an Argentinian acc since its 80% cheaper
Unless you make a foreign debit card, theres some services for it
In america you can change what state you're buying from, when i'm buying a game I always switch my state to wyoming.
lowest tax rate btw for american game buyers
steam charges tax
Never got that
Ye never got that in my country
o
US is weird
Why is Aus being bad and trying to ban stuff from Disco Elysium?
They're not hidden. It's america. Everything is taxed. If you don't recognize that you're not a true american. Yeehaw.
that was sarcastic btw
The game was officially banned under the Games 1(a) clause, which states that games cannot “depict, express or otherwise deal with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime, cruelty, violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena” that would offend what most adults would consider standards of morality and decency.
That really doesn't narrow down the why
Theres sex, drug misuse, addiction, crime, violence in the game. Its pretty much a central theme to DE
Yeah, but what about those would "offend what most adults consider moral or decent"
No that just the whole clause
australian govt really has it out for mentions of substances
It's the last part of that which is hugely up to interpretation, and what will said
Yeehaw brother. I'm not 'Murican lol
Of course it's up to interpretation, but it's been interpreted by a surprisingly conservative government
The australian liberal governemnt being conservative is far from a surprise
Idk why you guys even debating this, it sucks but its pretty clear why its banned
I want clarifaction as it's not really clear to someone who hasn't played the game
I thought you were murican. My whole life is a lie.
yeah it is tbh. australian govt has hated drugs for yonks and the way they go about it is cringey
it feels coddling and outdated
The main character is ||a speed addict that is alcoholic and lost his memory after drinking too much. Hes investigating murder connected to a lynching and theres mentions of raep, kid murderers and overly gratuitous sex by one of the suspects. Most of the characters are also racist.||
watching australians talk about how bad their gov't is as an american is just 🤌
Outdated sounds like our national liberal party's motto
That and rules for thee are not for me
now that you mention that, i wonder if the sex part has something to do with it. but for sure it mostly has to do with substance abuse
Ty
Yeah I can see why that would be met with the ban hammer super fast in aus
The character also sings a DMX song with a guy inside his mind :p
Oh your character can take drugs and get drunk to boost your stats so high so like addiction is an actual mechanic
You: What's on the other side?
Shivers: The road ascends; a raised motorway loops above the ghetto. Beneath its concrete columns — a sea of rooftops, woodwork, and tar stretches northward. Four-story buildings as far as the rain can fall. Snow melts in Jamrock.
You: Where the hood, where the hood, where the hood at?
Shivers: HAVE A BROTHER IN THE CUT. WHERE THE WOOD AT?
I like how we finally talked to shivers in the church after undergoing ultimate dance off in the church
That would have definitely played a role in having the game banned in aus
is the racism thing a personality trait purposefully put in or are the devs racist?
Its a thought, like a perk skill ish
Lol, the devs are anything but racist
Called "advanced race theory"
elaborate
It kinda depicts quite well a failed state
The game is very bleak
And then you realize ||Humanity is doomed either by nuclear wall or The Pale murdering existence||
The game will tell you if you are being racist and how that affects your partner
slaps wrist hey buddy that's racist
Let me copy paste something
Its your own thought that tells you
Passing a Conceptualization check (and having interacted with the Racist lorry driver beforehand) when mocking Measurehead with Kim leads to this exchange:
You: Kim, what do you think about this?
Kim: I think this racist is better than the last, but the next racist will be the really good one.
You: That will be our lucky racist!
Kim: He will grant us three wishes.
And later, when meeting Gary:
Kim: Do you remember how when we met Measurehead and I said the next racist will be the really good one?
You: Yes.
Kim: Well... (gestures toward Gary as if presenting a work of art) This is that racist.
You: Our lucky racist! Will you grant us three wishes, Gary?
Credit to Tvtropes
like in game thought or the players thought
I like how they call gary, gary the cryptoracist
Crypto-Fascist
Yeah the game
That joke flew over my head because he's with the Crypto-zoologist
Kek
He also can screw you over getting ||The Armor Breastplate||
I tried a full brute playthrough just to beat measurehead
That was sick
For an old man
Thats... Old
Which means he's ||One year older than Kim||
My mother would like to have a word.
Shes not very hardcore for my taste
Still according to the records, our past is very much decorated
So decorated that even kim is surprised
The funny thing is that they look 20 years apart
hell yeah this convo is still going, what'd i miss
Nothing, mostly on why the game is banned
oh yeah, drug mentions
well it was only banned because ZA/UM wanted a physical copy of the game released, but then Australia got a look at it and went 'no'
Because australia is about s u b t l e t y and explaining consent through terrible analogies
Australia and subtle don't go in the same sentence :p
Hmm very seditious
Are you forced to do studies of religions?
During that class I somehow managed to read manga 95% of the time and still get an award for doing class work 😂
n i c e
I'm not vibing with SOR, because it feels like it doesn't really matter about your opinions on the topic
Unlike some of the other subjects which are regarded as highly
Anyway, I'm using disco elysium in English Ext 1 to intentionally throw them off so
Niceu :3
Its funny how you can choose a political alignment in the game and realize they are all bad in their own ways
Even the moralist one
Yep! It's incredibly smart writing
I'm 99% sure the teachers won't even know what it is so you could almost get away with anything
Yep! It sounds fancy, appeals to my teachers Greek Myth obsession and allows me to talk about g a m e s
Also I forgot it had a different name in production
And even you can act as a centrist and have everyone resent you.
Even your brain:
You: These options seems awfully fascist or communist — what if I don't wanna say them?
Rhetoric: Say one of these fascist or communist things or screw off.
I kinda unintentionally said centrist things but quickly learnt not to because people h a t e y o u
Anyway stan Kim Kutsaragi
Kim doesn't believe in me when i knock that container, so he doesn't deserve me when i scammed money from another rich person, a sandwich, a badge and a medal from old people
Stan Kim
Don't say centrist things or else everyone hates you? Wow, a life lesson
say, what is centrism? everything i've seen doesn't make sense. "hAvInG mOdErAtE pOlItIcAl ViEwS" what is a moderate political view? "I'm only moderately interested in politics, I just vote who has the most wrinkly face as a rule of thumb."
Yeah its kinda just... generally not agreeing but still agreeing with people
that's a paradox but sure
The true way to handle that is just commit to the bit and become a reincarnated kras mazov commie cop
Obviously if you keep insisting you are Mazov's reincarnation it must be true. Right?
Which given the implication that ||The Second Revolution is coming|| it may be truer than he thinks
||UN JOUR JE SERAI DE RETOUR PRÈS DE TOI||
Yeah the games website now have the commie logo in it so sequel is us becoming kras mazov totally
The situation in revachol is certainly unique, there's certainly no intense polarization in any real life places
Centrism is when you say you love the status quo, and when the status quo is a certain way, no one is gonna believe you
.......
"I think things are fine right now, I want more of the same" in revachol? No way
The thing is supporting the status quo is not centrism
In Revachol
Is more Fascist
And Revachol closest equivalent is either East Germany or the Balkans in the 90's
The game also depicts the Hanged Man and the person who killed him with lots of nuance despite being completely opposites on what they stood for
I dont get why people say the ending as bad
