the king was like "go to impa"
and impa just goes "do everythintg else"
you have direction
because dropping you in a world like botw without any context, direction, or explination is bad
I mean.... would rather play it like the first zelda without a map and no directions?
its old roots, new looks
😔
because it had the same principle as the first zelda game but modernized it so it doesn't have outdated game design
we're just gonna have to agree to diasgree here
i had fun with the game, but i feel like the design choices are very questionable
a lot of the game felt arbitrary and that it was missing something
as a step forward for the series i think its great
because they are trying to change things and have fun new concepts, not just keep things how they were
but as a game, being in a game design class, and trying to look into its philosophies, im just not a fan
i just dont like it much
yea its just an opinion I just found it clashing that you said its a little to open with little content when BOTW had a lot
and thats how i feel about more so with every modern nintendo game, great concept, wonderful step, but not that great execution
maybe not in the way you like it, but it was there
that's why I support nintendo honestly
if you think about it, hades was made from the culmination of supergiant's previous games
Hades is by far their most polished game
but not their most conceptual one
hence why i have high hopes for botw 2, the next fire emblem game, and legends
since theyve had the trial run
now the just need to go all in
nintendo takes risk when it comes to game concepts and that's why I like them in that aspect since they don't stop trying weird things even if its not really the wisest decision
I look forward to rune factory 5
And new Pokémon snap since I never got to play the first one
lol pokemon snap to me is just a meme
i played the first, didnt know what i was doing
its a fun game
like for sure i love the concept and the game itself is relaxing and fun, but i just think its funny
I think that’s the point?
That it’s supposed to be a fun game..?
though personally I wouldn't spend $60 dollars on it
same with link's awakening beautiful remake but.... as a person who's still weary when it comes to prices
I tend to buy games with lots of playtimes which is why I like roguelikes/lites
Come to Norway - you’ll get over that quickly
but you know what im really looking forward too??
the miitopia remake
like
👀
i want it
Once you realize everything is expensive af
bring back streetpass 😤
I miss going out and seeing people who I connected with
like its 50 dollars and probably worth it too since they actually added things instead of porting it
You saw people?!?
yes I did
I just passed random strangers
oh yea that
which is kind of fun for me
I had so many countries
oh yea me too but that's because we don't really have a nintendo branch
so nintendo doesn't include our country
We don’t either
so we just pick whatever
we travel a lot though locally
Just left that on at the airport
so I dont really go on airports that much
I haven’t done much local travel
I rode an airplane for 2 domestic flights and 1 international flight
oh Im excited for splatoon 3 too
Same
finally I can play a splatoon game at its peak
Even though I didn’t play much of 2
because I bought the switch a little too late
I don’t do that much multiplayer
sploon 3 looks cool
you get babi salmonid im happy
and i love how they got rid of gender and its "style" now
I just want it cuz it looks fun & my nephew wanted it so maybe we can play together
Though he wanted splat 2
But he can wait until 3
also rip france for sploon 3
I just wish splatoon can be as big as smash some day
its a really great concept for a shooter
is it about the melee controversy?
the only shooter i enjoy tbh
but still
the dead france is sooo funny
like
Aah
its dead
lol
You do know it could be other places right
but also kind of too soon considering what happened to the eiffel tower a couple years ago
There’s more then 1 Eiffel Tower these days
i just prefer to entertain the thought that france had to die for sploon 3
and tokyo tower is japan's eiffel tower
i mean vegas also has an eiffel but its baby sized
but i just like the thought of they killed france
I just realized I want roller skates back
SAME
so stylish
X and Y was the time I tried to play pokemon kind of competitively
i still havent finished x and y lol, every time i try it again im like nah i dont feel like playing this actually. last time i played it a couple years back i finally got my last two badges, got to victory road and was like. nah. its a shame bc gen 6 has a bunch of pokes i like but man the game was not very enjoyable to me personally
Sad

i mostly played x&y since it was a pokemon game :/
like if i ever replay it for sure id be a bit more stingy but like thats a lot of work
I replayed x & y 4 times
conversely i was very invested in su/mo.... up until post game with the ultra beasts, and then i was like. nah now you lost me. and never picked it up again
I liked gen 6 it was a very charming
and I also loved the champion theme soundtrack
the best thing about sumo was that my first shiny in it was one i wanted most, a lycanroc midnight i got through wonder trade. and like a week later i caught one in the wild, opposite gender. that was a great time, lov my murder pups
im not really attached to gen5 either. everyone loves them but they came at a time i was going through a bad life period that sapped my enjoyment for them so i never got attached
objectively gen 2 is peak just because it had both regions lol coincidentally also the best remake
but Im still gen 3 because I played gen 3 the most and it holds a special place in my heart as my first ever game
I have things I love about all the games
gen3 is prob the one im most attached to, ive been playing since gen1
But I’m just playing to have fun & catch Pokémon
So long as I can do that I’m happy
I still know the 3 locations of the interviewer in gen 3
that you battle to grind exp
that was like my daily grind schedule lmao go hit up the battle with gabby and ty
I will say tho that it is a struggle to go back to playing Blue
You get so used to running..
And when you suddenly can’t..
I never went back lol

my experience with gen 1 is FRLG
having to switch out pc boxes bc they maxed, your item bag has a limit, whew
still haven't finished gen 2
I played blue when I was 3-4 y/o
the last time i looked at my red hall of fame, its just full of glitched pokemon lmao
but that's because I insist on using chikorita
Gen 1 of Pokemon is notoriously glitchy. Can Pokemon Red/Blue be beaten glitchless? Let's find out.

just
that
My old Tetris cartridge even has a sticker on the back with my name & house phone number on it
In case I lost it
With the Norway +47 code
I was so young & innocent back then
based on my age my first game should have been gen 4
but my first console was a gameboy
but Im pretty sure we didn't buy legit cartridges lol
woah, BF3 already ten years?
oh and DEHR is almost ten years, cat pfp guy( @fathom juniper ) told me it's the good proxyword
To be honest I'm binging two quite good roguelites
Dreamscaper and Loop Hero
The fomer is on EA, tho
ok ı will try them out
Loop Hero has a big demo
ı am looking for good roguelites
As in the first chapter and can last you 7 hours
gameplay wise I think not really
And progress carries out to the full game
curse of the dead gods is a lot slower paced compared to hades
based on the gameplay footage I've watched
ok
Dreamscaper although quite differemt from Hades has some tokens of inspiration
Procedural dungeons on fixed biomes, a central hub to give some examples
how long does it last ???
Im playing Wizard of Legend but that game is offputting for some people because it is quite clunky
Quite a loot
Another roguelite I played a lot but have put aside until full release is Home Behind 2
Basically Darkest Dungeon but you are in a Civil war in the modern world
(ik im late to the conversation but still ;w;) i like wizard of legend :3
i played co op with my stepbrother and it was really fun
I love it but some builds are quite uncomfortable to play
fury cloak busted imo
dark katana 👌
like i forget what the item was called but its the "signature charges faster but depletes faster too"
take that with flurry
fury*
you just win
yea
some stuff is just busted and other things are meh
I hope it gets another one cause I really like the concept
yea thundering keeps is the last update iirc
builds that doesn't have aoe tends to suffer a lot
but like one busted setup was the fury cloak + the elemental knight chaos arcana signature
since at the last levels you don't really have time to aim and position
and you take the faster charge stuff and you just have the screen full and shred
yeaaa
i forgot what my general arcana setup was but it was fun :3
I like trying everything that I come up with
its really like a character creation roguelike/lite
just finished chris' campaign in resi6
for like... the third time
and it's actually way better than i remembered
i used to think it's pure garbage and that you have to just... grit your teeth and just endure it to get to the good stuff
but no - it's actually not half bad
they clearly patched a lot of things
i mean - those close combat sequences can still just... bugger off
but thankfully there's only 2 of them in the whole 6 hours long campaign
but ammo starvation isn't as severe
those running sequences... work this time around (wowzers)
and the combat is still as silky smooth and fancy as ever
so if any of you ever thought about giving this... pure unhinged insanity that is Resi6 a shot - now is the best time imho
especially since we're just 2 months away from resi8 and - from what i've seen - 8 might finally reference 6 a little bit
which means capcom isn't ashamed of it anymore
2 months left for REVIII
i'm glad this game is finally getting at least some love after all those years
cause people dunked on it HARD back in 2012
and hey - there was at least one sequence that actually spooked me
which is like...
1 more than RE5
and that ending is just
😚👌
bueno!
like - i've been praising and defending this game for 7 years now
and i could spend hours pointing out the goods, the bads and the sads of this game and how it's better than resi5, but...
i don't wanna crap on resi5 - even though i do not like that game AT ALL, i just love resi6 (as flawed as it is) and i know how it feels when someone keeps dunking on a game you like
so instead im just gonna post this:
http://prntscr.com/10fkky3
just... just try it, folks
just dew it
yeah!
A Siege based RTS
mmmm
@rotund patrol please post any material like the (now deleted) youtube video you posted in #self-promotion as the channel is there specifically for such things
@dire saffron that’s how I got thru IFR in the start
ifr??
Immortals Fenyx Rising
I stumbled into the strongest part of the map
I see I found where yall went
And just sniped sniped sniped
We just got here
Wasnt IFR previously Gods & Monsters or something?
Yup
I thought so
yk when i played botw
So many jokes
and i found a lynel
its kinda the same :/
combat i feel like ifr does a better job
Except for the whole having to learn new controls bit
It’s so weird going from IFR to botw
I failed at helping my nephew with botw in the start cuz I kept pressing the wrong buttons >.>
Got too used to IFR lol
lol
i havent played ifr so i cant say much on it :/
Ignore my spelling mistakes please I’m half asleep cuz it’s 1:24 am
anyways I need my status in rf4
Cuz I keep going to places I’m not ready for & the enemies be strong
So I throw bad medicine & failed food at them
rf4??
Rune factory 4
ah idk what that is either :/
sorry i cant really hold a solid convo
Boo
looks pretty
It’s like a farming dating sim with fighting & taming of monsters
With anime cutscenes
farming dating sim lol
It hit a lot of my game buttons
rune factory is a series
never been into heavy resource games tho
First game was called Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon
And I love rune factory 4
Looking forward to number 5
Which isn’t number 5 really
But it’s called rune factory 5
Play it on & off
minecraft good
Used to play a lot then stopped then played & stopped & played & now I’m not playing it again
i dont have a mc account ;w;
lol why
Only remember the password for 1
nice
And idk
Playing Bioshock infinite
fps games never really interested me
That’s the FPS from earlier
I’m in it for the story
I suck at shooting
But vigors are fun
ahh
i might look into it :/
Like the series has a really complex story
But if you don’t want FPS I can send you a link to a yt series going through all of the story
It’s long
I’ll send it so you can have it then
kk :3
oh is yuppie psycho any good??
like it seems really cool
and its on my wishlist
so is VA-11 Hall-A
i heard that was good too

late but i adored rf4 so much i got a physical copy (bought it digital on sale on a whim) and imported the guide book that had artwork and stuff in it too lol
has anyone played child of light, yuppie psycho, if found, lofi ping pong, The Wanderer: Frankenstein's Creature, carrion, spiritfarer, and or VA-11 Hall-A and can vouch for it??
since all of those are on my wishlist
and i wanna burn some money
oh also evergate and summer with the shiba inu
i have a few other games on there but those im the most curious about
I've heard good things about Carrion.
Child of Light is a beautiful 2d rpg by Ubisoft with a watercolor art style and lots of rhymes
If you do decide to play it, make sure to pay attention to the battles since they're all real time
Va11hall-a is a really well written vn set in a cyberpunk city
yeaa my stepsister recommended va11hall-a
ive never played more just story games so idk how it would be for me :/
wow I never play all of those lol, but I heard spiritfarer is great
since spiritfarer is co op idk if i wanna play it on my own or with someone so im on the fence :/
yea kinda what i expected
honestly not many vns compare to how great the writing is in Va11
Clannad comes pretty close
I expect Va11 doesn't have voice over?
nope
Ah shucks
while we're recommending games. my brother called me an isometric gamer so I want to know the best isometric games. no sgg. i have all of them already.
I played it just fine solo
It was cool either way
what genre, beyond just isometric? i know quite a few rpgs, though most of them are kind of old
old is still good
sometimes old is good
true. quality and age aren’t the same
i was thinking the likes of baldurs gate, planescape torment, divinity original sin....there was a time when i only knew isometric fantasy rpgs
does Link to the Past count?
does final fantasy tactics count
also for some reason isometric tactics rpg games annoy me
because it doesn't work intuitively with the d-pad
i hate the camera on tactics with a passion
like I will intuitively press the up button for the cursor to go up
it made me go in the wrong direction too many times
if only there was a tactics rpg with tank controls
You already got the Diablos?
Zeldas are not isometric, you gotta kink the camera over 45 degrees.

not sure it counts...north has to be at the top right of the screen
isometric
that's the genre
gerry berry likes games with a camera that kinks at 45 degrees teehee
I wouldn't say genre is entirely the right word, but there's certainly a lot of games with that visual style, and I understand the appeal.
Visual presentation?
fair enough, but baldur’s gate is an isomaetric western rpg, which may be different from other isometrics
its kind of a joke @tame veldt 's relative noticed that most games that gerry likes is isometric
visual style seems more accurate than genre to describe isometric
same, tbh
kind of like pixel-art kind of became a genre but its more visual style
just give me isometric games why are we fighting over what a genre is?
which isometrics have you already played?
genre is a loose term so it can mean a lot
sgg, risk, starcraft, warcraft, others i can't remember rn
i'll remember it if you say one i've played
then strategy games are more your preference?
i prefer fast paced but starcraft and warcraft are just chill games i play with my friends
not sure i can help you there. i play a lot of slower paced, story heavy games
that's fine
gerry just needs isometric games
and Im just trying to challenge myself what isometric games do I know of
Damn right!
Shadowrun series, Baldurs Gate, Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2, Planescape Torment, Into The Breach, Disco Elysium, classic Fallout, all dem Diablos
there
Super Mario RPG is isometric in certain times
Disgaea and FF Tactics and most old tactics games really
yep, those are the ones i know!
Into the breach and Disco Elysium intrigue me.
icewind dale and neverwinter nights as well
most classic crpgs are isometric
the banner saga’s kind of a visual novel, but the combat’s isometric
Ragnarok Online is kind of isometric I guess?
Into the breach is good, it's like chess with kaijus+robots
the avernum/exile series, and geneforge are quite old with very simple graphics, but good worldbuilding
how....would that work
you display texts in a 45 degree angle
Just move your monitor then
no, it needs to exist
so that but.... isomestric
you play as a letter, walk on ground that’s just the word “ground” repeated a million times
trees are represented with the word “tree”
enemies are scarlet letters
I forgot Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny
oh, can’t forget tyranny, that’s an underrated game
i wish there was a bit more to it, though. the ending seemed rather rushed
text based isometric continued: stores are just “store” but in a 3d graphic design
i think that would be doable. after all, there’s already water, which is just the word “water” in overlapping waves
“fishing rod” and “fishing line” in a line....fish being, like, “fISh” shaped
you know, it’s hard to describe any of this on a phone
How about isometric text romance
@dusky wing sorry for the tag I don't want to keep the convo in #pyre cluttered. I've been ogling the FF franchise for years and I played IV (decent for the time but too much nowadays) and VI (actually enjoyable, but a bit long-winded)
(and watched VII and didn't understand any of the hype at all)
would you have any suggestions for what else I should try in the series?
entirely fair! (I should have known better, badly done, me)
first off, no matter how nostalgic I may be for the early games, I do not recommend trying to play the original unless you are a sucker for pain
it hasn't aged well
would you like to spend hours inching across a mostly-featureless overworld, fighting the same mob of five Imps every three steps, until you finally get to a town and are rewarded with three lines of NPC dialogue? this is the OG Final Fantasy experience.
it laid some marvelous groundwork but it has been built upon by its successors to the point of obsolescence 😭
that said! since you've already played IV and VI, there are various things I enjoy about all of the PS1 era games
VII was a Big Deal because it was a big graphical and technical leap from VI, even though it looks kind of crap to modern eyes. as far as I can tell, those ball-handed koosh-doll sprites were mind-boggling when they debuted, not to mention the cutscenes...
if you liked Pyre, try FFIX, it has a similar lived-in feel and band-of-misfits-with-a-fun-dynamic cast
if you liked Transistor, maybe try FFX, it's got a beautiful apocalyptic setting (tropical!) with a lot of government conspiracy and a front-and-center tragic romance (although your mileage may vary on the protagonist)
(maybe play in Japanese with subtitles if possible, the English voice acting is infamously whiny and it doesn't do him any favors)
and FFVIII is, uh.....it's a bunch of teenagers in the magitech floating-fortress army (with late-90s computer technology) having a lot of drama and memory problems while trying to overthrow the government and stop a witch from destroying the world with moon monsters and time magic. it's....something.
it's very anime. if you like late-90s/early-00s anime, you might like FFVIII.
(in the fandom for VI and X, much love for IV and XII, XIII may regrettably have my fave combat system of all time, throwing in some love for Tactics and Vagrant Story as well; sequels need not apply 💎 🐤 )
13-2 is the one I liked the most
That plot was an exercise in frustration for me, even though I love the cast and several moments 😭
For me, XII visibly suffers from its known development issues and it's almost painful at times to see it struggle, but it's painful because what is there is SO GOOD. I love it dearly and can't wait to revisit it!
Yes 🤣 that sure was a time
Music gr8, that's one of my fave Squenix composers! Possibly my fave battle track in the whole series as well (FFX second I think)
For more Hamauzu goodness, I love the Unlimited:SaGa OST as well!
I heard of the SaGa games. They seem pretty difficult to get into
this is also one of my fave songs from 13. It's like a rearrangement of Serah's theme but more danceable
Yes I love it!!
And yeah I'm no expert on SaGa YET but... they are difficult and the ones I've tried don't really pay off storywise, but if you vibe with the combat system and the atmosphere, they have a lot to offer!
seems like I should take my time with SaGa if I should ever get into it
Combat is extremely rewarding and flexible, lots of fun!
You learn new abilities by taking risks, basically
risk, reward type deal
Back to FF for a hot sec, reccing FFX to Transistor fans 😮 inspired!! Zanarkand 🤝 Cloudbank... the ||laser-focused tragedy|| of it all...
I have tried FFX but haven't touched it since months from now
salutes thank you I am more eager to play 9 now
I was too young to appreciate IX when it came out... a replay is on the horizon and I CAN'T WAIT but it's part of my partner going through a best of Squenix selection so we did VI and the next in line is CT and THEN IX and probably Tactics and possibly CC and then XII so. It's gonna be some time. Mostly because the very first item in the list is getting him out of a pinch in Breath of Fire DQ, but I myself haven't touched BoF since 2003 so I'm scared and we keep postponing this 😂
IX's OST and aesthetic are flawless. I'd rec Crystal Chronicles for a coeval work by a lot of the same people but someone managed to bungle the port and literally took the multiplayer campaign out of its co-op multiplayer adventure 🙄
https://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/360228-final-fantasy-crystal-chronicles-gamecube-screenshot-world.jpg this is what Pyre's Blackwagon immediately reminded me of... but in FFCC, the caravan isn't populated by NPCs, it's one to four characters in couch co-op... ...and in the remaster you can't. do. that. Alone in your caravan with your imp moogle
XV nowadays is pretty good
Weak second half of the story still, but better than it used to be
Crystal Chronicles Echoes of Time is good if you can get your hands on it
I'm excited to see how XVI handles
I need to replay XV, probably
I want to see the main character pop a DT
Main Theme of FF7 goated
Ive voiced my concerns with XVI before but
did they add a lot to the base game? no DLC here
I should start XV Dlc someday
I also just kinda don't dig the MCs edgy design
A lot, yeah
Chapter 13 was fixed and expanded
I feel like that's sort of part and parcel to the appeal of FF protagonists
And the last chapter has a pretty sizeable new area
But thats only for the royal edition
At least, a good chunk of them
Hopefully it'll be edgy like Dante and not edgy like Other Dante
Final Fantasy Protagonists have two moods:
-Edgy and Angsty
Tbh the XXVII version, while an obvious joke, I wouldn't mind
Simply sublime
Yeah I wouldn't say, for example, Zidane falls into either of those
But yeah, not the biggest fan of the FFXVI MCs design
Maybe angsty, but not really
But if the games good, thats not a big deal
I hadn't seen that art but I dig it
Paladin Cecil is neither iirc heh
Yeah but Cecil as a whole definitely is
God, Each time I heard Bartz name I remember that hilarious Sakaguchi sketch
The TOTALLY TRUE STORY of how Hironobu Sakaguchi (Creator of FINAL FANTASY) achieved his most prized accomplishment!
Starring:
Hironobu Sakaguchi
Shawn Chatfield
Rocco Botte
Derrick Acosta
And introducing Cliff Bleszinski

Bit of a shame FF moved away from being turn-based, but at least Dragon Quest keeps the tradition alive and well
That's because for most people Turn based RPGs are a thing of the past
The whole genre has moved away from it, yeah
The ones that remain try to do something interesting with it, or are carried by other elements
The only ones who get away with it are:
-Grandfathered franchises.
-Indie Nostalgia based games
And Yakuza
Yakuza does try to do something interesting with it
Hell, even almost all turn based franchises use ATB
Its also arguably carried by everything else
I personally don't care for traditional turn-based RPGs, so I'm all for the shift, but I understand when people say that they're frustrated
PURE turn based is quite rare
I feel the same way about most 3D platformers going the way of the dodo
Now unless you are called Fire Emblem or Dragon Quest you gonna have to do it right to get away with it
Tbh that one might just be because of market monopoly
Nintendo does 3D platformers, and no one wants to compete with Nintendo
I mean, we've seen throwbacks in stuff like Hat in Time, but really the only 3D platformer series that's consistent is Mario
And stuff like Banjo and DK64 definitely haven't seen the light of day in a decade or more
There was Yooka Kaylee too
Specifically the collectathon vibe, I mean
Yookah-Laylee would have been nice if it didn't totally flop
Sequel is good though
But yeah, I get why people would be frustrated at the shrinking number of traditional RPGs coming out nowadays
Although I guess with stuff like BD2 and Octopath and such it's kind of having a little resurgence?
That's why I shill Legrand Legacy when I can
Tbh I can't get why people love traditional turn-based RPGs in the first place
An old school RPG with FF vibes
That gameplay style is just inherently massively flawed
And playing it just kinda becomes a routine
I see the appeal, it just makes my brain take a nap
At that point I'd dare say that auto-battleing would be more effective/interesting
For me its kind of an awkward middle bit
You have to actively keep pressing buttons, but you don't really tend to make decisions
Stuff like TOCS at least spices it up a little
yes tbh im glad they try to evolve the traditional turn-based system
SMT's Press Turn comes to mind
I still tend to prefer action
Sky trilogy is not bad either, but I still fast forward everything and use the same spell for every battle (and weakness) like 2nd half of each game.
(yay Trails was brought up without me having to say it)
while P5 and SMT IV keeps me engaged till the end
But it's also a case of a legacy series I'd say
Even then I hear latest entries try their best to have action stuff
Which is sad
yea i heard Kuro changed the battle system?
Yep that's the rumor I heard
Gonna be a long time before I get to see it for myself though haha
When Falcom does something for the first time it's usually not... Remarkable
This is a screen from the command battle mode
It seems to be more or less the same?
that action bar on top reminds me of Grandia
40th anniversary livestream
ish
Oooh right!!!
Theyll show off some Kuro
I've been a little out of the loop lol
I'm waiting for Aofront
i bet they're not gonna do anything for the Brandish series ever again
and it's 30 this year
Tbh Im not surprised theyre changing the battle system
TOCS has the big problem where the difficulty curve is more of a bell
Yeah there's a lot of stupidly powerful arts and crafts from what I heard
You can just delay and delay and delay
Which. You could also do that before especially in Crossbell but at least it cost you
LOL even on nightmare?
ah you can switch between the 2 systems?
by the way, Hummel's counter is borderline broken
You can, yeah
So basically they Ys-ified Trails :v
Well see the details tomorrow
Partially?
It looks more Xenoblade-y
Or maybe FF7R-y
Hard to tell
Yeah
Xenoblade's is.. weird, not a fan
The biggest question I have is if the action version still has crafts
hope it's not
But I imagine this will be used to gauge interest
And if the action-version is just a lot less popular
They'll go back to turn-based
that L1 R1 buttons are crafts, probably?
in this one?
But also you know.. switching characters in real time and having to time dodges... Idk it looks like modern Ys
oo wait nevermind, you said action-version mb
havent played FF7R, but probably like Ys? R1+face buttons for skills/crafts
I'm playing YS VIII as we speak
noice
My backlog is almost done I think
We can already see some differences
Only a dozen games left
how far are you
Ys has guard for instance
Have fun with it
Its probably the best Ys game
Ys IX was promising but didnt stick the landing
im in Chapter 5, I enjoy it immensely
Which is a real shame because I really wanted to like Ys IX more than 8
I need to finish Ys before MH Rise comes out
Even with the exploration being more limited, it had the potential to do so
I also gotta recheck the EGS free games
Maybe there are some interesting ones to play
I mean the 50 I have already
Crying Suns is pretty good
Well more like 80
But probably not too relevant for us
Both finished already
I started Ys 8 a few days ago
We don't even have Hajimari no Kiseki
It's not too bad
The latter I actually finished before it was free on Steam
we'll get Kuro localized in 5+ years
where does Hajimari fall into the timeline?
Hard to believe the same company created the game that had Estelle Bright
I think it's after all of CS
The day 13 Sentinels is on PC is the day I don't get out of home in a week
If it happens
Big if
is 13 sentinels on pc
Yeah Hajimari is 1 year after CS
i'm not clear on that
And 5+ is generous tbh
In any case gonna check how much the big update on Dreamscaper is
We might be looking at 3 years until we get Hajimari
Wonder when they'll finish the entire Trails story/series
Never /s
Honestly can't wait to see Cold Steel for myself because so many people criticize it
Well maybe it's the circles I'm hanging around I
In*
Also. WOW YOU DIDN'T PLAY SKY
Graphics are a bit too outdated, and I already know the whole plot
I hope things are explained decently
But yeah, I liked Cold Steel a lot
Cause ummm
Anyone here played Langrisser to give me their opinion?
I just read the wiki and watched parts of a playthrough
And Grandia II?
I guess that works but wowww
And Romancing Saga 3?
The only real weakness Cold Steel has is 1 feeling a bit incomplete
Since its clearly setup for 2
And 3 has a horrible, horrible cliffhanger
No you don't understand
The 3 cliffhanger is the worst
Its kinda infamous in the Falcom community for being the worst cliffhanger in the series
Yeah that's fair but saying 1 is incomplete without 2???
That is typical
Oh that
Yeah sorta
But Cold Steel has a lot to like
It also advances the plot a lot
I think I'll still like the 3rd the best lol
Cause it's so unique and they never tried anything like it again
But this is kind of speculation on my part I'm trying my best to keep away from spoilers lol
Also Kuros system lets you move during your turn for free before doing any attack/art/craft
Which is nice
Always sucked that ranged characters had to move back without attacking
Honestly it just feels nice playing a Falcom game again
Even if it's really not the same since XSEED quit
I think I spotted like half a dozen loc issues within the first few hours lol
Do you mean in 8?
8 had a messy localisation yeah
Its fine now, but uh
Originally an area was called "Archeoizoic Big Hole"
A big hole is a chasm alright
Oh well I think I can get over the small issues
Makes it fun to think about how I would rephrase
I played through Nayuta with the same attitude
And it was much worse lol
Anyway, we'll see the details of the system tomorrow
I'm reasonably excited
I do feel that turn-based is inherently majorly flawed
From buffs/debuffs, to statuses, to action economy and lack of decisions
Trails works because its fun being broken, and the rest of the game can carry it through the slog
Wouldn't mind hearing a little about it from you
About the details?
Also battle music is good as hell 90% of the time
And yep
Yeah sure, if I remember
Falcom does good music
Though Ys IX had a couple of bad tracks
The biggest one being the regular boss theme
Its just ... not good
Singa... Yikes
Music: Feel Force
Composer: Mitsuo Singa | Guitar: Terukazu Inoue?

Eh, honestly?
Listening to the usual stuff
I don't quite get the Singa hate
Yeah this particular song is terrible
I'm not like actually skilled at distinguishing composers but usually if I don't like a track it's from him
LOL
Though I guess you haven't heard Iclucian dance yet
Ive heard the "the boy has wings" comparision
Music: Soldiers' Sorrow
Composer: Naoki Kaneda (Falcom Sound Team J.D.K.)
Album: Music from Brandish 2: The Planet Buster

(gotta go but I'm glad I had this silly excuse to bring Brandish up lol)
And even then, the first 3 tones only share cadence
Yeah I said I was joking
Something hilarious
Anyway, he does have one track I kinda like in Ys IX particularly
Music: Nab the Tail
Composer: Mitsuo Singa

Each time I'm interested on an Indie I see gameplay with no commentary to see if it interests me
Its so weird
And the first result is ALWAYS the same guy
God Bless him as sometimes he's the only guy with footage
I was actually looking at quite the interesting game
The Occupation
Can anyone recommend a cheap monitor (preferably under £100) that is good for home use? Please ping me
maybe if he took some medicine, he wouldn't look as sick
jokes aside, he does look cool
Zero has always been cooler than X and Capcom are cowards for not letting him be the star earlier
Also, my Mega Man hot take, Zero is the most consistently good sub series hands down and it isn't even close
I've tried to get through 1 twice and couldn't do it.
If you have the Collection, they're much better because they added actual checkpoints
any of yall hyped for the 2nd mh: rise demo??
yeah zero is hardddd
yess, cant wait to be pummeled by Magnamalo
hehe yea im a glaive main :3
and i might do it with a group
maybe just solo tho to flex
also i think theres gonna be new silkbinds so like 👀
imma try solo first
i want that downward thing with glaive from iceborne
ahh HH seems pretty cool
my only experience with mh is rise demo tho so :/
but i love it
IG just felt really fun
and like DB or HH is gonna be my secondary
HH is fluid and super strong this time
hh?
hunting horn
oh we talking monster hunter
mhm :3
the 2nd demo is launching in like 3 days
so im hyped
magnamalo seems like a trip
and man i want the pro controller
it looks cool as hell
just its sold out everywhere and im too lazy to buy it from the UK store
yo the MH Rise Switch also looks cool
My switch is a bit too precious for me to get a new one
yk monster hunter is def more fun with people but i might have to solo the game ;w;
my friend that plays already has a team
if it's anything like World, you can just jump in to a SOS calls
Oh, I've still got the Zero Collection.
It's more similar to past games than World
but most randos are dumb, soo beware
I know the story quests and multiplayer quests are totally separate now
Which is great, having to wait for everyone to see the cutscenes to hop in a hunt was the worst
That's how I do with my friend. Solo the story, duo the farming
ahh maybe ill do that :3
my brother said he'd be down but idk what his schedule is
also ig im buying curse of the dead gods now
it seems super cool
@terse hornet I missed the stream, so this is a bit late, but we got some info on Kuros gameplay
Biggest one is that, yeah, command mode is just turn-based
But you can move freely once its your turn
okay okay
You can also switch between command and action mode mid-battle
Crafts and arts seem to be the same in command mode
But we did not see any special attacks in action mode, I think
But yeah, theyre basically keeping command mode around, with just some stuff changed to make it up to date
Mostly letting you reposition to put some distance between you and the enemy, or to line up your art/craft better
Also, we might get a new Tokyo Xanadu
my friend told me some more of what they revealed and it sounds super boring to me
Wdym?
i.e a cold steel anime
Oh
Yeah there is a TOCS anime
Dunno about it, it could be good, but TOCS kinda has too many characters
and they talked about their favorite tracks and stuff apparently but they're the most generic ones
YEAH
that was my thought too and i havent played it even
ok generic is a bad word
I do think there were better tracks, but its a popularity poll
oh
it was an actual poll
nvm then i thought it was just devs shilling lol
not surprising thne
*then
Nah, one of the devs mentioned that he wanted the Ys II track in top spot
Which was a Sky track instead
Yeah, Silver Will Golden Wing
Personally I would've loved to see "youll see out the end of the tales"
pog
bouta drop 120$ for these
same tbh
So there’s a new character in Skullgirls that has a Zagreus palette, and all I could think was “wait, Skullgirls isn’t dead?”
I loved that game~
I don’t mean to brag, but in my hay day, my skill level was very slightly above amateur~

ive been thinking of getting skullgirls
i just wouldnt have anyone to play it with ;w;
lol
yea for sure if i buy it
does it have cross platform actually??
since id be getting it on switch
I'm trying to remember a video game. I've never played it. I heard about it through a youtube video, probably Extra Credits. It was a singleplayer scifi FPS, and one of the mechanics was you had a gun that let you shoot black gunk onto walls, allowing for cool platforming. It's set on a spaceship I think?
amogus?
sounds a lot like portal 2, but not quite
Maybe Prey?
I didn't have high hopes when the first reply was "amogus"
this..... made me look twice >_>
oh um
sorry...?
portal?
oh wait it was answered lol
ohhhh the video is from Game Makers toolkit
I remember that
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3QsCy4ekWk The video I was thinking of
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ9x3AtGADM GMTK one. I saw this one too. Probably kept the memory alive
The basic 2nd endcore version is very cheap, u can find it in bundles a lot in other game sites
I did a thing :D
XCOM Chimera Squad is a baby XCOM, and quite easy at that.
Still, it has some charm, I guess for a $20 spin-off, it is OK.
don't you love it when news do typos?
cuz I do
F cybperunk 2077
petition to put zagreus in smash bros now that hades is on the switch
it can happen as either a mii costume or a trophy
it happened with undertale and shovel knight
(X) Doubt
Has anyone played Cyberpunk? Obviously there was a lot of talk at launch about how buggy/disappointing it was, but I've also seen some people point out they really enjoyed its world and narrative.
I mean you can enjoy it if its your first triple A rpg i guess
when the game works and doesn't bug out... it's beautiful
I mean, it's... kind of... not? 😅
tbh I'm hoping they patch the issues at least to the point where I can enjoy it. I know some of the decisions they made make the game kind of broken when you look too close (eg. their traffic system) but I'd like to lose myself in the world as long as I don't analyse those bits too much.
hell yea the hatsune miku game i put on my wishlist as a joke is 50% off
should i buy it??
i was gonna buy curse of the old gods and maybe something else
tbh I don't use things related to driving, I just walk on my legs and appreciate the view
The bugs might well be fixed, but the design decisions that make the game worse are there to stay
It won't ever be a good game, but it might be an alright one
It will always sadly stay the way it is, an ok game. I haven't played it myself, but really spent a whole lot chatting with people who did and tried out the systems in it. To point they don't even learn much from their previous games, like for example how inventory works. They could take notes from witcher 3 inventory system yet they went with the one that always end up with players always having too much stuff on them and never really having a proper management of it.
I don’t really play RPGs like Pokémon nowadays because I feel like they’re too much of a time commitment and I don’t feel like wasting hours grinding.
At the same time, I have ~300+ hours logged into Hades, and that was over the course of under two months.
I’m pretty sure something is wrong with me.
Saw gameplay of this yesterday, it’s like a slower paced Hades, and looks pretty good. I’d recommend that.
cool :3
