on the other hand, making a short but high-priced game is also a risk.. not everyone will like that, and not everyone will enjoy all the efforts put in the development
I mean, short is not a factor here
You can have long, linear games
In fact, thats kinda the norm
yes, but we're talking about sacrifizing the story parts
You want a game that is long but not too long too
i mean, if there would be some kind of.. idk.. ability to go play bowling for no reason, most people will probably skip that part, so you can spare some effort from making a minigame not that many people will enjoy
that makes sense
Its not sacrificing story parts
As much as its having one linear story instead of a bunch of variance
and even then it can be worth it or not.. Gwent has made it into separate game.. Caravan from FONV got forgotten quickly
Alien Isolation despite being 10 hours long give or take people complained it was too long
linear is not bad
but when the choice is presented, people usually like that to matter somehow
That kills the Telltale
Casey and Doug stuck to me a the most useless branching path in Adventure games
for three games, three! you had to follow a path just to find out, almost nothing mattered in the end
You saved either of them only to the other to die a chapter later, IN THE SAME SCENE
True, but thats why games tend to avoid true choices
Or choices that have a huge impact
so.. there has been enough examples..
God, now I'm dying to play DE again
maybe, as much as i wouldn't like it, but in this case the safer scenario would've been diminishing the origin part even more
But I want to wait to March
so it wouldn't have that much emphasis.. and people wouldn't expect much.. something on the level of Bloodborne
also, for the origins other than ||corpo ||there is somewhat less sence, ||why are you hanging out with Jackie, and how does Arasaka become your enemy||
Yeah march is gonna be neat
In Bloodborne Origins are just stat application and it doesn't pretend otherwise. Right?
something like this, yeah.. and it only affects some dialogues with certain characters
You gonna replay DE Uno?
de?
Disco Elysium
ah
I really hope they recast some of them, tho
The guy who made ||Kortenaer|| voice was incredibly bad
I was indifferent on that one tbh
The MC voice is perfect tho
It really feels like it was tailor made for him
I also hope they give us another way to find ||Our gun||
The new Dead Cells DLC just came out
Tempting
Like right this second
finally finished FEAR yesterday
the ending was a bit... underwhelming
but i admire the ambition and sheer talent required to put together something like that
especially in 2005
that said...
i didn't get spooked a single time
wuppo
shovel knight and pikuniku, those are the ones I remember rn xD
Cyber Shadow just came out today
The Messenger is straight fire
The two Bloodstained demakes I've heard good things about
Hollow Knight if you want a Metroidvania
Folks, Nintendo Switch Lite
Which color? Gray, Turquoise, or Coral?
I am leaning toward Coral :3
Turqo and Coral is nice
but since I like my stuff in blue and blue-like colors, I'm Turqoi
but you said you'd like coral , that's a nice color choice too
well, if you're leaning toward coral, go for it!
all are pretty options, I think xD, so go for the one calling for you ;)
i'd recommend getting a normal switch tbh
sure it's a bit more expensive, but on top of all the perks that come with having a normal switch you can mix and match all the colors you want by simply changing joycons @polar dragon
I don't have enough for a normal Switch and games
I can do Lite and one or two games
Also I already have decent PC, this is literally just so I can lay in bed being lazy.
yeah i get what you mean
and hey - both consoles run doom 2016 and doom eternal so
yellow name, yellow icon and not even considering yellow lite smh
Yellow is too gaudy
Smh at your yellow everything, yet still refusing to buy yellow
tbh all of the lite colors aside from gray are relatively "gaudy"
but it's deliberate
pokemon headcanon: team galactic is like, kind of sort of a cult
inspired by how someone tried to badly describe all the pokemon evil teams and for team galactic they said "scientologists" and i couldn't stop thinking about it
woah you can't say things like that. scientology will come after you because you called their "religion" a cult?
I have decided not to buy a switch because I realized I need a microphone and controller... and more games ig. Thank you all for your feedbacks though.
dang it's late
i read that as "team garlic is kind of sort of a cult" and i was like
hell yeah i'd join a garlic bread cult
More or less:
Team Rocket: The Mob
Team Aqua and Magma: Eco-Terrorists
Team Galactic: Doomsday Cult
Team Plasma: Animal Rights Extremists.
Team Flare: Social Darwinist Cult.
Team Skull: Street Gang
Team Yell: Armed Fanboy Club
More or less:
Team Rocket: The Mob
Team Aqua and Magma: Eco-Terrorists
Team Galactic: Doomsday Cult
Team Plasma: Schizophrenic
Team Flare: Social Darwinist Cult.
Team Skull: Street Gang
Team Yell: Simps
I fixed it.
I think you mean "Team Skull: Lovable Idiots"
Pokemon villains go from mafias to sport hooligans.
Well
If we want to get real nitty-gritty, you'll want to swap in the Aether Foundation and whatever the corporate guys are in SwSh
Was Avoiding Spoilerinos
oh yeah, aether foundation hc: lusamine and her family's last name is Aether, that's why it's called that
Ran into a good game, Dandy Ace.
What do you guys think of a crossover regarding it and Hades (and Transistor)?
I tried it during the free weekend beta for a couple of hours.
It has good potential but the movement is a bit awkward.
Most importantly you don't have iframes on dash and you can't dash through corners.
I think the game has potential. Gameplay is tight except what I said above. i had fun. Though I personally don't like the theme so I probably won't get it. It's still a good game first impression though.
Been following the server and the suggestions did include the "Dash Through Corners" thing (the devs took notice)
it doesn't have good auto aim like hades
I was more referring towards a skin that'd replaced Dandy Ace (The Character) with Hades, with the sword from Transistor (I've haven't gotten around to knowing it's name yet)
oh the transistor sword is literally called the transistor
yeup
I've already suggested 4 skins (all of which the devs liked, but due to money constraints via being early access and needing more attention, weren't able to get to handling that thing yet (even noting they're fine with new skins)
The skin of which I opposed (Hades and Transistor) would have an alternative way of unlocking via having save data from both corresponding games

(Didn't know that, thanks Charlie)
coral looks supper cute
super*
howdy folks
yooo
i'm looking for my friend
have you seen my friend anywhere?

LEEEEENYEEEEEEEEHH!!

Lenny’s gone missing what will Arthur do?
yo
man - it's been a week since i saw this and i still can't get over this scene
such a great game
@high bridge
hello
lmao
oh wait how's dead cell's performance on the switch?
there's gonna be a sale and Im wondering
ETG has some problems on the switch with certain events (when there's lot of fires)
@rigid girder might tell you bit more about that when he's around 🙂
There is -33% sale for whole bundle, im not sure if base game is on sale on Switch.
The performance is okey. Similar to Hades. Minor FPS drops when a lot happen on screen.
okieee still playable right?
there are times enter the gungeon is unplayable with certain guns because of the lag
Hey, all. I plan on making some comical videos about character builds. Will likely focus on Hades, and may delve into some other Roguelikes/lites and ARPGs. Any suggestions for other games people would like to see?
you mean - what other games or hades builds ?
Hell no they tried to eat a slowpoke
nope nope nope
Slowpokes are a delicacy in many regions of whatever they call that planet
any recommendations for good vr games, free or otherwise. i have a quest 2 so no vive or steam exclusives
...Myst?
description of game please
The point and click classic, now re-re-re-ported to VR! I would rather point a new player toward their latest game, Obduction, but iirc it's not out on the Quest
Boneworks.
Basically a very physic based games that is a giant obstacle course plus guns
warning about playing myst it gives you little to no direction at all
if you like that then cool
i don't like that
Superhot VR is very fun
i already played it because why wouldn't I.
it's a tad overpriced for how long the game is.
i finished it on half battery percentage of the quest. that's how short it is.
ive never done vr but i feel like it would make me motion sick
if you have a friend with vr ask them if you can try it. if you get nauseous get out of there. i highly recommend it. it's something that i think everyone should try. or you could try the phone version of vr to ease into it.
i have no irl friends
yooooo sameee
or at the very least if theres people that consider me friends theydefinitely dont own vr
because like the only people tht arent family members that i Interact With irl are people at my school
and there arent very many Gamers
its an all-girls catholic school so
exactly!
if i feel like interacting with people while at school ill just hop on discord
the school wifi doesnt block the browser version so ✌️
my school had to block among us because people were playing it in the bathrooms
SDLHDKSLH
is keyboard spam a way of laughter? some people do that.
yeah it is
mm
sometimes it can also mean other stuff like anger/frustration but laughter is the most common usage
mmm
i learn more about human nature everyday
that's a good thing for everyone because then we can improve our social skills
I like Gilmore Girls: Day with the Girls
for a bit i was sad about it not being in megamix but really it makes sense they didn't include it, it hinges on the touchscreen usage (i mean arguably all the ds minigames do but some more than others)
another tragic loss is manzai birds but that one's also understandable because not only would it need a LOT of voice recording, but also a lot of trying to translate puns
I liked the iCarly game

Oi this game seems nice
Gonna Wishlist it
(I've inspect element'd that one)
couldn't tell the difference
better wording, not much
@woven breach no reason for not having a tesla, amirite?
That sounds like a Hard Drive article
inb4 someone sideloads GTA 5 onto this thing and makes some nasty headlines
just wait
in 5 years
"when your game crashes more than your car" memes incoming
wasn't there supposed to be a cybertruck ||(or whatever's that weird ps1 looking car called)|| in cyberpunk 2077?

i distinctively remember seeing some articles about this
before the game launched
or i'm having the biggest mandela effect right now
no - i'm clearly onto something here https://www.cnet.com/news/cyberpunk-2077-is-this-an-elon-musk-cameo/
"More than Musk himself, people have anticipated the Tesla Cybertruck to appear in Cyberpunk 2077. I haven't spotted it yet, but this is a huge game with many, many sidequests. So it could be out there, roaming the streets of Night City as I write this."

Well, that card is ugly af
did that thing even came out after the jokes about the windows' strength?

what in the...
crazy how CDPR isn't known for the great game that was the Witcher it's the buggy awful mess that is Cyberpunk.
|| people tend to talk smack about stuff. so naturally, cp77 comes in mind when talking poop about cdpr||
https://i.redd.it/6qv2gnd6sq561.png
yep, fake af
welll
But regardless of all of that, I still enjoyed the game
Crazy, I know
other than the sometimes hilarious to outright "soft-locking" bugs that I've seen, and the horrible performance
game was cool
no GTA cool for sure, but cool
No, I mean, if that post is supposed to be a critique of cp77 is quite nitpicky
heh heh that's me
one thing for sure, I cannot stand MMOs and open world survival games
...but minecraft...
but i do, and i'm proud.
i would send you a screenie of my city but i don't want to launch mc rn
|| mc is immortal.. no no, eternal||
it has been a yearly tradition in my friends' group to make minecraft server and play it for a month
but also, minecraft is different from these horrible Early access Open world Survival Games
EOSGs if you will
at least minecraft isn't early access
minecraft is a complete game with endless possibilities that is still getting more content. don't starve and rust are limiting and tried to do a spin on minecraft. but when minecraft is already perfect, you can't spin it and make an equal or better game than minecraft.
i don't know if you can tell but i like minecraft
we're all guilty of that
so...
the medium came out like... yesterday, and...
i'm actually kinda surprised they didn't mention the game takes in poland, of all places
on that e3 showing i mean
when was it, like...
someone told me it's cooking his pc (9400f and 1050ti)
yeah they're pushing some tech there
it runs on UE4, but with ray tracing, volumetric lighting and - of course - the whole split-screen gimmick
so it has to render everything twice
this... game actually makes me wish i had the new xbox
i mean... a horror-ish game with fixed cameras, puzzles and an honest to god inventory system?
sign me up
i mean - even the first act follows beats similar to SH2
main character loses someone close and then - not knowing how to move on with their life - sets off to a distant, abandoned place looking for...
sutff
yeah, yup - there it is
http://prntscr.com/xro7xa
it's almost like an... unwritten rule that if a game (or a movie) takes place in poland... this car has to be in it somewhere
well, if you don't know
there is a rule made by jeff kaplan (overwatch team, ik) that every vehicle must be a flying one
wow that universe sucks
how am i supposed to do sick drifts in a parking lot at 2 am?

that said - going back to medium
as interesting as this game seems now, i noticed the MC suffers from the Nathan Drake syndrome
she keeps talking about everything
just... shush
let the atmosphere do the talking, lady
Hopefully is better than Layers 2
it's a shame that such an... interesting game got so overshadowed by cyberjunk
like - i totally forgot about it's existence
and i remember being pretty
when i saw it's trailer on one of those e3 streams
i've never played the nathan drake games as i don't have a playstation, but i did play a bit of control and the MC did talk a lot about what was currently happening unnecessarily, if you've played that game would you say it's a similar amount to medium?
i haven't played control ||though i've played all previous Remedy studio's games|| but... i'll take my chances and say it's similar to that
i don't mind characters talking in games - quite the opposite
but i don't like when they keep talking in places when it's unnecessary
I'm liking control so far
yeah it looks like a fun and really creative game
but sadly i'm drowned in a phenomenon called "ya shouldn't speedrun an rpg in the first place"
no wonder - it's Remedy, after all
I loved watching Quantum break stuff
eeeeeeehhh
hey, it was something
i think QB was their low point
well yeah - i'll give you that
but i just... could care less about quantum's characters
and plot
and gameplay
and those TV bits were a bit
thankfully they were short
||Jesse has red hair, that's what I cared about when I saw her in game||
but yeah, i'm somehow more inclined to replay an rpg than playing a new game
and the MC in medium has short hair 😍
im on the fence about hades having never played a similar type game . should i just buy it?
my short answer would be yes, but the thing is - i've played rougelites before
so... uh
if this makes the choice for you any easier
i have a friend that... doesn't play games all that much anymore
some few ps4 games here and there, few KF2 matches every now and then and that's it
and yet - somehow - Enter the gungeon - which is also a roguelite ||and a bit harder one than hades imho|| became his main jam for months lately
and he swears to buy hades on day 1 once it comes out on ps4
so...
maybe you will have a similar experience
all that said
for me hades is my personal GOTY 2020
it's got my 🦭 of approval
absolutely!
Hades has been the game that I still pour my hours into and I haven't finished it yet
I want more and more
like yeah, DOOM and the other games is cool, but where will I be if I can't play Hades anywhere?
i mean
if i were able to run eternal at 60 then i'd be a tie
but i haven't played it yet so
you win this round, SGG
DOOM gory, Cp77 overbuggy, and Hades getting GOTYs
man I do love chainsawing
and glory killing
never knew slaying demons going to give me that dopamine
i've been doing this for over 20 years
and it still gives me a rush
welcome to the club
now go play plutonia on UV and earn your membership card
I saw doom eternal in game pass but my friend said "here take my steam account and play DOOM '16"
boy I haven't learned the counters but I was killing
doom... I remember being a wee kiddo and watching my dad play it alskdj
then played eternal and it's like "what if you can slay demons, but with Just cause 3 style?"
i mean - doom 2016 was good, but...
when compared to eternal it looks like an early alpha build or something
and besides - i'd rather replay Dusk than doom 2016
I was blown away with the amount of creativity I can do around
can you kill a demon with a wet bar of soap in eternal?
surely DLC 2 will do it.. I guess
I'm still starstruck at how Mick can perfect himself, he made E1M1 twice
and yet new E1M1 is even better
not anymore
I still want to play one of the oldies doom I watched my dad play, but maybe I watched it too much because my brain is like "nah, you still have enough satisfaction from watching it"
might as well go for the 5th
no no no
don't it
oh totally - go for it
this SAT bs is taking my time
there so many different flavors to classic doom nowadays
yet I know I'll retry it
haha, you sound like you're one of those salespeople in musicals rn xD
i mean...
cough cough i kinda am cough

also, neat pick for saber colours
anyone try last epoch?
oh there is one (1) exception to the thing i said about mega man 6 in fan works
there is one robot master that takes more damage from more weapons; unsurprisingly it's plant man
though you could interpret it as him just having two weaknesses
(i say unsurprisingly because, as much as i love him, plant man suuuuucks)
outside of smash his weapon is basically useless
it's not even useful against the guy who's weak to it
Heheheh I got pigstep when raiding a bastion and now I’m happy
Yep i got about 90ish hours fiddling around the beta
It's more of a PoE+d3 ish mash up
It's a solid arpg, barring the performance issues during the beta (its a gpu memory hog). And the endgame (called Monoliths) for now is pretty good as well, it's like d3 rifts but you choose between 2 modifiers every run, the more you stack those modifiers, the more %gold+%item find you get.
I like the skill system, streamlined but still provide tons of build possibilities

oh jesus christ...
ok - i gotta be really careful about my choice of words here
now - while this topic is video games, and it's quite important to me as a modder and fallout fan
i'm still not going to post any links due to...
delicate subject matter, so to speak
and i'm talking about the Fallout: new vegas mod called "The frontier"
just... what the hell happened there?
how did we come to this?
oh hi
let me just get this out of the way first
yeah - new vegas is great
and that "The frontier" mod looked great before release
it looked like a seriously impressive piece of modding
but then it came out, and...
since we can't have nice things anymore - drama happened
and it's got taken down and people are distancing themselves as far as possible from this - scrubbing their names from credits and what not
the whole kerfuffle is still fresh
but whatever happens in the next few weeks
might have a... negative effect for most modding communities out there
gosh darn it
you sound like you're going to start defending nazis
like i said - i'm trying to be vague here, really careful about my choice of words
are you defending nazis or not?
i just thought i might bring this up here since it's heavily related to video games
neat. that's not an answer
well - i'm here to talk about video games, not politics
your question is unrelated to the subject at hand
not an answer
the problem with the Frontier is that it has some fantastic content - they got vehicles working!
i never thought it would be so difficult to denounce nazis
but they completely ignored the lore and self-inserted a bunch of mary-sues, and it's filled with so much god-awful ||fetish content|| that it's just discraged the actual good stuff in the mod
i know, right? @little stone
clearly a lot of hard work and talent went into making this mod
but then... yeah - there's all that, and more ||you know what i'm talking about||
that's why it pains me to see it all go down in flames so fast
wow
like - i'd be fine with cutting all the problematic content out completely
because whatever's there looks fantastic - especially for an aging game like new vegas that... already barely works on it's own
but it's getting dragged down by all the drama, and... well
NCR in space
yeah...
@past wren please remember to keep rule 1 of the server in mind Be Kind which can be found in the #readme-first channel
wat
please don't go calling people nazi's, it's rude and uncalled for
i dunno - i'm just trying to avoid an obvious bait and talk about videogames
is everything alright?
everyone didn't want to engage with your question, and that's fine
thank you @broken smelt
that's the sequel, right?
yep
dooo it, especially if you enjoyed the first game
I love the first game!
I want to try it in the game pass
that's entirely valid
godbless free discord 3 months trial
I think you'll enjoy the 2nd game a bunch then
i have a weird love hate relationship with ori
like - i love the artstyle, and i love metroid 3
so naturally i should be into this game, right?
but.... eeeh i dunno - the first one always felt clunky to me
I heard it's more focused on the combat?
yes and no
I feel the combat is eh in the first one, I love the exploration and platforming
they improved the combat a whole bunch, which I thought was lacking in the first game
the movement is as smooth as ever
aight sold!
can one just jump into the second game?
- sigh *
good to know where this discord stands then
you can, I'd recommend having some knowledge of the first games story ^_^
I'm sitting down though 😛
@broken smelt, please
i don't know what i did to that person to warrant such treatment
but this is getting out of hands
anyway - back to video games
So I'm not the only one not being sure about Ori... I absolutely love the art in but the difficulty in the first one completely ruined the experience for me. And I mean ridiculous difficulty spikes. And I do like a challenge and high difficulty, but something went wrong there imo, as I was playing on one of the lowest difficulties before switching to the lowest one at the end of the story so I could finish the game.
speaking of new games releases
HROT comes out today...
iiiin early acces
what;s HROT
oh just seen that
I dunno, you're fine mate
possibly just a bad troll
it's an oldschool first person shooter
there's like... one person working on it and they made a whole engine from scratch just to make it look as chonky and pixelated as possible
even more chonky and pixelated than OG quake
more in lines of... Chasm: the rift (or whatever it's called)
so.. brown
||legit thought it was another Quake/Doom or Half life mod||
same, actually
grain of salt, still early access
yup
i was on the fence about dusk at first too
and then it turned into my goty 2019 so
who knows
@fathom juniper if this person tries to give you grief again, feel free to DM me or one of the online mods
thanks
oh and yeah - by the way
back to the topic of fallout
a while back i've heard some rumours about NV2
and they came from a... fairly reliable source - tyler mcvicker
does anyone know anything more about it other than "it's in the works" ?
Kali's CSRX is now god-awful
Patch Y5 S4.3 has been rushed onto the live servers in a desperate move to fix the loadout reset bug but as a consequence, none of the changes have had the chance to be tested properly. The update to Kali's CSRX 300 sniper rifle (removing the 1-shot-dbno mechanic and increasing the base damage to 122) had already been flagged as a questionable m...
you know
as much as i... dislike ubisoft
(well "dislike" is a bit too much... let's say i'm not the biggest fan of their output lately... and other stuff)
credit where credit is due - as an outsider i have to say - from my perspective they've been doing a great job at keeping siege alive
openworldsandbox games?
yeah I barely play any ubigame
and making it a viable esports game
cause ballancing all of those operators and their gadgets must've been a really hard thing to do
but I'm agreeing to what they're doing with siege, too
It's not like they are|| delaying content and making another year with no big announcements||
yeah @floral warren - it's exactly that
like - fra cry is a good example
the first far cry was a mostly linear shooter / tech demo published by EA
it had mutants and what not - but it was pretty good
we haven't had a brand new map in siege since the australian ops
March 6, 2019 - Operation Burnt Horizon
fair
then goobisoft got the FC licence and they made FC2
though a bit flawed, still a great game - completely different in terms of realism and immersion
and running on a gorgeous and well optimised tech
then FC3 came out - still different, following that open world formula they're doing everywhere now, but back then it was fresh
and still good
and ever since FC3 came out, it was all downhill from there
the milking has begun
every single game followed the same formula, while up to that point - every FC was different (while still sticking to some of the series main gimmicks)
that's where i lost interest in their stuff
gimmicks? every ubi game has the same gimmick
now - yes
but keep in mind that it was almost 10 years ago
so the whole "open world + towers + outpusts + crafting" formula was still fresh
I'm 100% sure that if there's a ubi game that doesn't have fast travel nobody'll play it

but yeah - what's said is that...
way before all that they published some of my fave games
I cannot stand Watch_dogs 1 and 2's "exploration and look around"
BG&E, rayman 2, splinter cell 3, rainbow six 3 - all that good stuff
I need to play AC4
just give me a new proper splinter cell game, guys
but other than that.. yeah I'm not touching another ubigame and I'm kinda disappointed to what they done with Legion
i'll forgive you just make chaos theory 2: electric boogaloo
yeah i've heard it's kinda... meh
generic as hell ubisoft-em-up
talk smack all you want, but half of my cp77's current save playtime (10hours) has been driving and exploring
and yeah, driving is bad
oh i totally get you
i like exploring too
but there's a difference between exploring and actually looking for cool stuff
and just... driving around going from one map marker to another, just checking them off of the list
which is what i feel most ubisoft game boil down to lately
NC might be the most beautiful city to look at while playing
no other game has made me use Photomode this much

each side quest have something different, can you believe it?
|| I'll play more sidequest than a main quest actually||
if you're into this sort of stuff - i highly recommend the deus ex series ||well - maybe not DE2
||
there's always a lot of cool stuff to find in every corner of the map
and the game actively rewards you for exploring
good stuff
YES
which one do I start with?
well - i'd say the first one, but keep in mind that it's janky as hell
and a lot of "immersive sim" aspects come from kinda... screwing around with the AI until it gets stuck or confused and lets you do whatever you want to do
it's a great game, but it's hard to get into
if you do - go for the GMDX mod
but if you're looking for a more polished and more "modern" experience - go for Human Revolution
it's... amazing
what about mankind divided , has it gotten the recent square enix treatments or what?
(cool but mediocre game)
though keep in mind that there are two versions of DE:HR
there's the old one - the one with the yellow filter everywhere (which i don't mind - it gives the game a cool look)
and there's the Directors cut - which gets rid of the filter, has "improved" bossfights, but it also... runs like a jet ski on gravel on my hardware
i have no idea what they did there but the engine clearly doesn't like it
oh yeah - mankind divided - apparently it's one of the best gameplay-wise
but people say that the story feels... unfinishsed
like - it ends abruptly, some plot points feel out of place and all that jazz
but HR's the best in your opinion, right?
oh and they got rid of the guy who plays David Sarif
who had such an iconic voice
i'd say it's a tie between 1 and HR
but only if you play 1 with the GMDX mod
and you're willing to put up with it's UE1 jank
nuh uh uh, ain't gonna
but - no matter which one you pick
every single one of them sounds just
well then - HR it is
also - HR might just have some of the best bits of enviromental storytelling i've ever seen
hands down
heard it was stealthy,right?

what do you mean?
stealth, like MGS-y or Watch dogs-y..
oh you mean gameplay wise
it can be, but it doesn't have to be
so it's optional, like cp77
that's what i like about this series - you can finish each game with basically any build
it's optional, but you can legit finish 99% of the game this way
which i did - not killing anyone, sneaking around, exploring every corner of every level to find new sneaky paths and what not
and dishonored-y, at that
cool
or you can just go in guns blazing - get a rocket launcher and an honest to god minigun and just go brrrrrrrrrrrt
yeah - it's pretty close to that
ALSO also
hands down the best hacking minigame i've ever seen
hmmmm
like - i was hacking everything just for the fun of it
"I believe it when I see it"
i mean - it's better than that frogger... thing mass effect had
or alpha protocol's... things
so far best hacking was like what, cp77 and watch dogs 2 (which don't go really deep in that department)
that's the one "improved" one
with dev commentary, better bossfights
no piss filter
||i really like that old color grading||
and worse performance
that offers going away
but I'll be sure to add it to the wish list
and strangely looks similar to the two games I've really enjoyed playing
wow that's actually super cheap
10 pln?
that's like...
not even a proper
over here
i'll think about that
||man, you don't have to do this||
willing to do it?
yeah why not
it's literally less than one
in starbucks
|| you're making me bit embarrassed||

all i'm saying
it's a great deal on a great game
and you've got two more days to get it
OH YEAH!
i almost forgot
one more viddy gaem i gotta mention
a while back we talked a bit about Cry of fear (which i still do recommend - hands down the spookiest game i've ever played)
and guess what happened?
two days ago someone released a great two hours long video explaining the whole game - from start to finish - and what makes it great
and it got over 1,5 mil views in just two days and the playerbase saw the biggest spike since it launched in 2012

there's never been a better moment to play it
it's literally free
noice
can agree about spookiness, i still feel uneasy hearing any kind of knocking somewhere
have you played COF?
||that constant knocking and crying in the apartments at the start of the game
||

||and later it gets worse||
oh BOI does it
seriously - the only game so far that made me nope out
like - something happened, i got spooked
paused the game and just... quit
i'm having none of that tonight, thank you very much
savegames be damned
know that feel
and that happened like... 4 times
even on repeated playthroughs
i can usually handle my survival horrors just right
but there's just something about this game that makes me go

idk why, but somehow the urge to.. um.. nopequit remains in the sleep, when seing some nightmare
what i like about the game, is that it breaks the rule "if you have a weapon in a horror game, then it's not scary anymore"
oh and hey - would you look at that
this game was also a mod at first
looks like you actually can run a team developing a massive and ambitious mod and not run the whole thing to the ground with ||questionable content||
yeah i'm lloking at you again, the frontier
oh yeah i love that
i found that it's actually the opposite - in games like... i dunno - soma even (which i still love) or any of the other walking seams
i'm now looking at the beyond skyrim team and feel uneasy
not having any means to defend myself makes me feel safer because i know that i won't have to defend myself
just sneak around and hide
but give me a weapon in cry of fear and oooooh baby
everything goes
well, i couldn't finish Outlast bc of it
i might or may not have to use it
i might have enough bullets to take down all enemies, or not
or i might have just one left for ||the spooky lady in white dress||
outlast gets really boring really fast
or for yourself
well - yeah - speaking from experience here
there's not enough variety there
it's just gore, jumpscares, hiding and running away
so halfway through the game it all became
in didn't have much to actually scare, just the atmosphere is too heavy
the darkness itself is scarier than things hiding in it
yeah the atmosphere was good - i'll give you that
but it wasn't enough to carry the whole game after i got a peek behind the curtains and i saw that enemies ran out of tricks hours ago
just at some point i felt like, i feel too safe in the locker.. i knew the creep will see me and run for me, so i thought.. maybe i'll just stay here in the locker forever?
and i did
yeah - exactly
but only if you're not sure of the danger in it
there might be something spooky scare hiding in the darkness - that's what makes us
but after a while i just... knew there's not going to be anything in there
so i was just
also, that's one of the reasons detailed monsters are not scary actually.. with long teeth and claws, covered in blood, or glowing eyes, or something
oh i agree with that 100%
i like my monsters janky and chonky and pixelated
much worse when you have no idea what to fear
where there's enough details to make the whole thing feel off while not showing you much
so that your mind does the rest of the job
even regular enemies in non-horror games of early 3d era are scarier.. are those pointy things claws or some metal armature? is it a victim's blood on the texture, or is it its natural color?
oh totally
i mean - what is going on with the shambler's face anyway?
is that fur or is it just some... weird skin?
||i'm in the "shamblers are covered in fur" camp btw||
ps1 games were really good at doing this... rusty, nasty, disgusting aesthetics
when the main downside sometimes makes profit

maybe that was also a part why FNAF went so viral back in the day.. you couldn't figure out enemies in the dim lighting, you never knew where they are, what are they about to do, the constant tension..
and at the same time the characters themself got too much love and acceptance
i suppose
like, how is that even working
but BOI did that game spiral out of control
anyway - i gotta bail for a bit
here's the COF video i mentioned earlier

give it a shot - it's actually really fun to watch
just keep in mind that it's about a horror game - so, you know
there's spooks and such

I'VE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR YEARS
yeah, be aware people
anyway -
take care folks
likewise
and there are all kind of spooks actually
jumpscares (not much), chasers, immortals, Unknown Freaking Things, atmosphere
oh yeah - there are spooky sounds, spooky... stuff in the corner of your eye, spooky monsters, swedish people, flying ikea beds, baloon-head gunslingers, angry grandmas, angry doors, buckethead, flying chair... thing and literal garbage
anyway -
Yakuza creator back in the game baby
that's cool
yakuza is one of those series i've been meaning to get into for years now, but always kept putting it off for later
btw, all yakuza games's in game pass (except for LAD and 6)
now that they released the remakes and the remasters into the service
shame i don't have an xbawks
now, if they actually made an xbox app and actually made game pass for windows...

in other words : yes there is game pass for windows
i don't have a good pc either
i mean - i have two garbo laptops
can't glue them back together into one decent one, sadly
and trust me - i tried
if my trusty gtx 1650 pc can run these games, yours might too
not really quite far from performance afaik
it served me well, but...
i'm afraid it's time is up
cuz 1650 is even worse than a 900 or a 700 gpu
well - there's one more thing
it likes to overheat because... the whole cooling system got banged up pretty hard over the years
and i mean - i spilled coffee all over it two years back
and it was BAD
when unplugging it i literally saw sparks
i did all i could drying it and cleaning the whole thing
got a new thermal paste and all
but it still likes to overheat a lot
how about.. Nvidia Geforce Now, it's like stadia, but you play the games you own already
that thing is free (maximum 1hr per session)
naaaaah
I can assume that you're close to the servers
and also
||who decided that RMB is a button that is used as a COVER button||
oh you mean in DE:HR?
yes sir
yeah you better change those controls
threw me off
oh and i do recommend playing it on hard
I'll make it watch dogs-y by assign it to v
i mean they're called wooly shamblers, why wouldn't they have fur
....wait you probably don't mean the earthbound enemy do you
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/megaman/images/7/7a/MM6-CentaurMan.jpg/revision/latest/top-crop/width/300/height/300?cb=20110426055826 anyway heres some Images of centaur man
thank god I can now ADS with RMB
oppsie daisy
i got his color palette from this turnaround bc i forgot that it differs
that looks straight of mega man..
it is
hmm
the snes era if I'm not mistaken?
nah, snes era was 7
dangg it (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
where all the designs were super cluttered because they were like "LOOK AT THESE SNES GRAPHICS"
... ┬─┬ ノ( ゜-゜ノ)
the mm7 robot masters have way too many colors and unnecessary details lol
https://i.warosu.org/data/vr/img/0023/62/1429806843112.png wait their artwork shows this off better
snes graphics and gba graphics are pretty similar honestly
dizzy me'll say these reminds me of the robots from sonic mania
"gonna tell my kids these are the mega man bosses"
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/604967283877609482/804760807594393651/unknown.png
i mean there are robot masters with those themes, mostly
except you can't take their powers upon defeat
goodness, wouldn't that be a concept for E-102 Gamma return
they were cool as act 1 bosses, but the final boss really kinda had me disappointed
too cool for an act 1 boss too , cuz their theme was cool
gamma should stay dead though
keep in mind that is NOT me dunking on gamma, i love them
i just think their arc was done and there's not much more to do with them
true that
its like what was probably supposed to happen with shadow
honestly im curious where we would be if shadow had stayed dead after sa2
idk if it wouldve been the Better Timeline necessarily but one has to wonder
not like anyone would try to resurrect Gamma anyway
there has been a theory that Shadow in SA2 is actually dead, and who we see later is another one, maybe clone or android
Heroes events actually gave enough for the theory to come
i remember whole topics about that back in the day
however, i would say, that it would've make more sense, if Knuckles would die tragically during that time and then return without reason
i mean, there are at least two diffrent Knuckleses.. wise reasonable protector, and angry brawly comic relief
I feel like whatever they do next should do some serious thinking on what actually does or would make a Sonic game good
there's a good sonic game?
I mean
I'm firmly of the opinion that even the "good" Sonic games have a ton of flaws and don't do justice to the core fantasy, personally
first 4 classic games were good, i can tell it, since i've never had Genesis/Megadrive
both Advance games were good
See, I include even those
Like, past the first few levels you never really get good opportunities to do what Sonic does best: Go Fast
Not to say I don't enjoy a good chunk of them
almost every sonic game has water level, that's enough to be flawed
But I think someone on that staff needs to sit down and reexamine how to do the idea of Going Fast a bit more justice
problem is, it's hard to make player go fast in a 2d game
you have to either have huuuge camera view, looking to the right as much as possible
or build a level so that it would be enough to just press right to win
or players would have to memorise the level
There's methods to do it (that admittedly might not have been possible at that time), like pulling the camera out dynamically and abusing parallax scrolling
Side note, I still hold that the best Sonic game is probably Freedom Planet
Advance and Rush games were not bad actually
this.
They definitely had the right ideas about it
maybe, bc it was made by sonicfan, and fans know better than Sega what makes sonic games good
that's also a reason why Mania turned out to be a good game
at the same time when Sega was able to polish the core mechanics, they went too much experimenitng and eventually too much inner disagreements ruined the franchise
Mania is good, but would have been better with more original levels and less revisits
even between eastern and western approach
Except Chemical Plant, Chemical Plant is the best and can always stay
I'm more interested in exploring where you could successfully take that concept in a 3D space, which they haven't really done yet
Unleashed/Generations had the right idea but they got too bogged down in nonsense
may i say, that Damn Green Hill is also became a flaw of the majority of sonic games?
Also that
so, uh...

Dishonored (2012) by Arka...
i'm... just gonna leave this here
hah
@fathom juniper I actually forgot to talk with you about DE:HR
game
it feels a bit difficult (especially when you get caught out), hacking feels nice and gives a "quick quick quick" incentive (classic ik)
but the idea of different routes is cool ngl, just like MGS V and Dishonored
screams 2013 graphics but gameplay is cool
i'm glad you're enjoying it
also - fun fact
back in the early days of development (back when it was called just straight up Deus Ex 3) the artstyle was way more cartoonish
closer to something like...
TF2 or Brink
||you give me stealth hacking takedown I just enjoy||
then there was the proper DE:HR release which was a bit more realistic with some eeeever so slightly cartoonish things
and now you're playing the directors cut which is just that minus the piss filter
which i still kinda miss
there was a piss filter along all that

it's even better if you're trying to @ me
because you have to do the forbidden thing and...
@ everyone
but yeah, more of that is cool regardless
how far did you get?
If I'm not mistaken still at the second mission
dropped me from a heli and went inside the lab again if I'm correct
basically
but don't worry, I'll be continuing that
which is a good thing because cp77 is eating my time
dang , those "I've had 200 hours" comments kinda getting real

just... be nice to my waifu and do her sidequests when the time comes
trust me - there's a really cool story there that's completely optional
first save was male V, now I choose female V cuz her E3 hair was awesome 😳 , so installed a mod for her
but yeah, I'll be doing a full on playing every quest save this time
Anyone knows why Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is so popular?
why dont sega bring back emerald hill for a change huh
or, like, reimagine zones from the obscure games of even more questionable quality than most sonic games
tbh I can see why it is, played it a bit, the farming is really really good
don't like the combat tho
the attack queue is weird
scratch that, it's the combo itself
any good games ?
what kind of games you like?
i just wanna play something new
i be playing cod but im tired of it
i recently got my pc too so idk what games are good on here
i urge everyone to play cave story+
synthetik is a pretty gud game
bloons td 6 is a good turn your brain off game.
and... I can't really recommend almost half of my steam library to peeps
cuphead will occupy you for about 20 hours, tons of replay value
dicey dungeons is a good game but gets old after about 50 hours
if you want something grindy but solid, Monster Hunter World, along with expansion Iceborne
easily sink 1000 hours into it
i have bro lmao
Yeah it's good. I played it. Is there anything you want to know particularly?
VVVVVV is a great puzzle platformer similar to cave story+
Hades is my second roguelite. I tried Enter the Gungeon and it was way too hard for me
Is it very hard?
Portal and Portal 2 were the first games i ever played. absolute classics
And is it like Hades good?
It depends on how high you want to go. I took me about 8 hours to complete the first run, compared to 20 hours in Hades.
Portal is great
But the subsequent runs with increased Boss Cells (similar to heat) are harder
Are there lots of upgrades that you get like the mirror in Hades?
So in my opinion the first run is easier than Hades but the difficulty gets steeper faster.
sort of
Nothing really that affects the character
but all your weapons and items need to be unlocked
yo doggo i saw you talked about dandy ace once, it any good? i know i'm overloading you with questions sorry bout that
There are unlocks for new weapons and skills, but you don't get a powerful mirror, however.
you do get some permanent upgrades, but there are only a few of them
It is a true roguelike, the only thing you get from each run is skill
If you have played enter the gungeon that was way too hard for me
I played it for like 3 hours only. It has potential. If you like Hades combat, you will probably like DA. It's a tad slower and less fluid though, just a touch.
There is no bullet hell involved. You don't need precise movement.
I really enjoyed Hades because I could quickly progress
still not completely out yet. i'll prolly give it a chance anyway
But you do need decent timing to parry stuff though.
Yeah you definitely won't get as powerful as you can in Hades. If that's a bad thing for you then you can reconsider. Though like I said, first run, in my opinion, is easier. It gets hard on higher Boss Cells (like Heat).
Hmm maybe I'll try it
But I am also still enjoying Hades so I might just wait for it to go on sale again
Use that 2 hours trial :D
I can't decide lol
Yeah just wait imo. There is a new DLC out, that's why it's on sale rn.
Also I am in school now so I don't have tons of time to sink in to games
Wait a bit and maybe both the main game and DLC are discounted also.
dlc is on sale rn
Fatal Fall?
not on sale on steam
no the other ones
wdyt no one is buying it
meanwhile genshin impact is free
Yeah there are a couple of DLCs for the game. Fatal Fall, the newest one, should not be on sale last I check.
im just sad bc fenyx rising looks really interesting and the dialogue is hilarious
too bad it's TRASHHHH
I mean it literally released 3 days ago
we can agree to disagree
im not a fan of the anime waifus either but overall its still alright
music is good
just wished i can free roam as zagreus
i muted the music and just listened to Gorillaz
art style don't allow that
too bad it's TRASHHHH
sorry i just hate video games
except for this one

eh not a fan of LoL
imagine calling genshin trash and then simping for corp
i'm a complicated man
way i stopped playing too
imagine calling someone a (coffin pokemon) because they won't play khazix
i will never forget you aerobeetle
Dead Cells is cheap if you don't already own the base game
picked it up on switch
I picked up the Fatal Falls DLC yesterday
I liked it
maybe it will finally help me beat 2BC
howdy

@floral warren why are you playing cyberpunk and not deus ex?
ahh umm
||drugs||
(for anyone confused, this is the reference, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cL13iXYfgk)
imo that was easier to explain lmao
I swear one more sidequest

oh god I never knew melee weapons were that good
my main weapon is the Half life crow bar
as someone said it "this is the only goddamn rpg besides skyrim where melee isn't viable, it's optimal"
what?
who said that and where are they?

has this person ever played the OG deus ex?
or, shoot - i dunno
dishonored? ||even though i hesitate to call that one a full on RPG||
how about some fallouts then? E.Y.E. maybe?
and those are the ones i can name at the top of my head
and i'm not all that into RPGs
Me neither, until someone pushed me into witcher 3
and besides - that "since skyrim" thing is kinda bull too
since 1 - it's a part of a series that shares a lot of it's mechanics
I mean - hell - the further back you go the more robust and free-flowing they get, allowing you for more varied builds
and 2 - it's a fantasy game - you're gonna be using melee weapons most of the time anyway
ok, i'm done being angery
but BOI that comparison was bad
Bonks go brrr
Dead cells is on sale for switch. Thoughts?
i heard it's good
i know there's some folks here that played it and can tell you more about it
Roguelike meets metroidvania. Doesn’t sound horrible. And it’s only like $13. Of course hollow knight is only like $15.
$20 fir the bundle with the DLCs included.
Still....hollow knight is only $15.... full price.....
yeah Dead Cells is really good
but it leans toward the roguelite than the metroidvania
while hollow knight is a metroidvania with handcrafted levels
depends on what kind of experience you want
I just got a switch and am playing a bit of catch up. I’ll probably go hollow knight instead since I have Hades already.
Any other switch players have a suggestion for S tier games?
Dead Cells is a roguelite with some elements of metroidvania, like Hollow knight is a metroidvania with some elements of soulslike
Man I have been out of gaming too long. Souls like?
Dark Sous, Bloodborne, and the likes
I just learned roguelite as a genre (which is essentially what we used to just call games).
yep, same thing
I figured it was dark souls, but not sure which mechanic makes it a soulslike
i think its like a general Vibe thing
How do we have a category that isn’t describable?
