Maybe Ill just finally get around to playing the Talos principle
Call of the Sea is a fun little number
Yeah, but I kinda saw Wander play it
Actually
@stable kindle you said you're playing Fenyx, whats the exploration like in that game?
Apsulov if you want Norse Horror
I dont do horror Im afraid
isn't hellblade the comic john constantine is from
Thats Hellblazer
Aka Luftrausers with Plot
Daedalic also made a quite interesting game called Long Journey home
Bought this game during sales as it looked kinda interesting
AeternoBlade is a hack-and-slash fast-paced action game featuring with World Exploration, RPG elements, Time-manipulation abilities to solve puzzles and to defeat your foes. Long ago, when the world was ruled by darkness. Alwesia region, a cruel continent where humans must fight and struggle in order to survive, stood Beladim, Lord of the Mist, C...
$9.99
i dont really know how to answer that
i mean it doesnt really deviate from your usual open world style exploration? you have a big map, you can go anywhere on it, theres plentiful loot to be had (all of your gear besides the stuff you get at the start is found through chests and specific quests), some chests/vaults may be locked until you get certain god powers, which you can obtain through coins from completing challenges
There was this RPGmaker game I fell in love with the concept
Well moreso in the sense of
"Are there hard to reach places that require puzzles or careful manouvering but reward you with something"?
late game vaults lol
In which you controlled a weak NPC of the larger plot but you could ask the heroes to help you and combats were more of resisting before the help arrives. Ah and the game begins with the heroes losing against the final boss, dooming the world and the plot deals with the different characters coping with the end of existence
vaults i guess would be similar to botw shrines in concept? again, i dont own a switch so ive never touched botw but theres tartarus vaults all over the map that you jump in and do various challenges. could be fighting arenas, could be complicated puzzles
I mean, Ive not played BotW either
Still
Ill check it out, I suppose
So far no game has truly filled the void Crosscode left
i mostly got it because i like the art style for it and i wanted to know more about the characterization and its been fun for me (minus a few specific frustrating vaults lol)
The game is called OH!RPG! btw
I actually have a soft spot for RPG maker games
Oh, if you want a short, emotional game with puzzles. Play Evan's remains
Never pay full price
I mean
Im willing to pay full price if its a developer I trust or a game I know is good
Only two games I paid full 60 bucks in the last three years
Death Stranding and RE2R
dont think ive paid full price on anything in a few years
Full price non-sixty bucks lots of times tho
Like if a new Indie costs less than 23.99 euros I'll probably buy it full price
I have paid full price for TOCS3 and 4, and I think Ys VIII and Origins
I usually buy full price.
Yeah. I'm glad they put that in
It also improved in all the criticism of Stories
No blalantly repetitive dungeons, no annoying narrator doing voices, better plot....
Their next game is curious
Like seriously having all the characters getting voiced by the same guy was grating af
The way he did the falsetto or the raspy tones
It got old
Yeah the medieval game
I'm honestly laughing inside
Seeing all the games I had forgotten I had played on my Steam library
AND games I had bought and not played
Which are depressingly a lot
Portal Last time played 27 September 2011
Bruh
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB5ff600Rys hi am i having a fever dream
I took WAY TOO LONG TO DO THIS.
Music:
Some Sort of Secret Level - Captive Portal
That one track in PilotRedSun's Cooped Up
bgm_71 - The Underground Explorer
chest - hubol
@graceful galleon So the char you're talking about is the Marine
He's a really good beginner friendly character, scales well into late game
just do rainbow runs
Gross
:c
I'd sooner do a blessed run before I even do a rainbow run
Sure but successful rainbow runs need you to know which weapon/item is the best pick of the bunch
Or the pig
i'm trying to do HS runs now

Also why even do a rainbow run when PIlot can give you all the gambling fix you could want
I hate Pilot because his starting weapon is eh
Just bust open the lock, idiot
though the thing the game gets me the most is that I almost always near perfect bosses
but usually I take one tick of damage
like
everytime
I hate it
Say good bye to your perfect chambers, nerd
lol
This bot sux

Hunter is also kind of useless in the hands of an experienced player but the bowgun is still really good for early room clears
We don't talk about the Convict
why though
like actually
is it a meme because I see that a lot but I just don't get it
I think my farthest run was the mine. Been years since i played
There's a mine level right?
Yes, that's the 3rd floor
Mostly because she's the worst of the 4 playable chars
this bot is going to be the end of me
but basically garbage pistol, garbage shotgun, her playstyle needs you to get REALLY close to the enemy (generally a bad idea in the game)
and her passive item is super niche
Her molotov is the only redeeming feature of her
But it's not enough to outweigh her list of cons
There are just way more consistent/better performing chars to pick
yeah fair
Her passive wouldn't be that bad but the fact that it NEEDS you to take damage is just a bad trade
Health for a short dmg increase is hardly worth
Yeah Marine is pretty much ez clap but he's so consistent
I can throw down some tips so you can play more consistently
hit me
dew it

- Marine best boi
- Green chests and upwards give the best bang for your buck. Keys should be mostly used for those.
- Each time you start a floor, you will always start with two blanks. They don't carry over, so the best time to use these is during boss fights or if you know you're going to take a hit.
- Be selective when you dodge roll. Sometimes it's better to just walk around the bullets than to spam dodge rolls (also because you can't control your character for a brief moment after you land)
- Really practice all 3 bosses for each floor. Perfecting them by taking no damage gives you an item that basically gives you an extra heart container. (Use your good guns, use blanks, do everything you can to prevent any damage). Git Gud.
- Shoot a chest once to reveal whether it's a mimic or not. DO NOT USE A KEY ON A MIMIC OTHERWISE IT'LL EAT IT and you'll get hurt. Killing the mimic however gives you the item in the chest.
@graceful galleon This should be enough to start
I used to download a maxed save and do boss rush over and over again
To get that Master Round
I'm not perfect but at least I'm a lot more consistent
Also this works well for me, I like to take every secret floors possible. More floors = stronger run.
But idk if this is against conventional wisdom or not
solid tips! thanks mate
Well he should learn the fundamentals before discovering secrets
yeah fair
But yes eventually you'll want to get in on those secret floors since they'll basically give you more chances on items that'll carry over
In addition to point 2, brown/blue chests are "okay" but you'll feel sort of bad lul
But green chests are what you want
yea imma start a run after work
how about if the game only give you brown chests on the first level?
should you waste key or
If your starter weapon is garbage like the pilot or convicts, then probably
Or you could just deal with it and trudge through the next floor
I've done both
aight
It's very possible to beat the first boss with the starter weapon
I remember the hunter has a good starting weapon, plus, corgis are always a win
It's a drag but it's doable
Corgi can also warn you if the chest is a mimic
But the tip I just gave you kind of nullifies the one selling point of dog
Also the pedestal that shows up carrying the post boss rewards can also be a mimic
Same rules as last time, shoot them once
If Corgi can bark when you are near a secret room that would be hella swell
Sometimes I pop open secret rooms by using a blank during combat
Apparently if you analyze the cracks in the wall you can tell but I'm not that good
Confess something that will revoke your gamer card (no not hot takes, actual confessions please).
I've never played Portal.
2591
And once more, i dont know what to play
Maybe just Talos Principle and hope it lasts me 3 weeks?
FAR: Lone sails?
Stella
Lili: Child of Geos
Not for Broadcast
The Turing Test
One Way Heroics
Half Minute Hero 1 and 2
I loved FAR!
With the caveat that it's basically an art direction on wheels. But as minimalist atmospheric puzzle platformers go, I think it's lovely!
Same with Stella
It's basically the LIMBO genre
To say it in a way
Ok, just watching my steam library I got anxious
I think I have Stella wishlisted! Looking forward to it. And yeah same, I want to play my entire backlog at the same time.
Welp put 10 games to download
Let's see how many of them I actually play
There is this one I downloaded and wanted to play for the lols
The Endless Space 2 joke Visual Novel for April Fools
Where Horatios romance Horatios
So I've beaten Orphan of Kos, Gherman and ||Moon Presence|| today
I would go for Sekiro
@zenith mantle moving over from fan works but the gods were cursed by typhon, and their questlines to restore them involves delving into like their deepest insecurities and stuff. in ares's case, its his acceptance that perhaps his father was right all along and he is a disappointment. to which fenyx exudes zag energy and goes "actually i will fix this brb"
noooooo ares
i hope things turn out better for him
but oh boy god therapist simulator sounds really wild im really interested in fenyx rising now
the banter makes it https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Eq3cKdpXMAIV7UT?format=png&name=small
[through gritted teeth] zeus... (derogatory)
oh no thats expected
but imo what impresses me is they pulled it off in a way that its entertaining while still pointing out how awful he is. prometheus serves that role in the narration and continually calls zeus out for his actions
often times, whether its a movie or game or something, generally zeus tends to handled in... a more positive light, where his bad deeds are brushed off or made out to be meaningless, so i just appreciated that while they took the comical route, they dont gloss over "hey this was pretty screwed up dude"
ooooh
im honestly v interested in fenyx rising after seeing hades fandom people share screenshots of the story dialogue
and also bc i heard its a lot like botw
ive never played botw bc i dont own a switch but iirc the devs were inspired by botw, certainly
i have also seen a lot of people proceed to brush the game off as a "ripoff" tho
or overlook it bc the character designs arent as hot as hades LOL
the dialogue really makes it stand out to me though, im really big on characterization so interesting takes pull me in and the game did exactly that
the gameplay is fun but i cant comment too much on it because my computer is actually lacking on requirements so i run on lowered settings with occasional framerate drops ๐คช
im sure i would enjoy it more if it were buttery smooth haha but ive enjoyed it regardless
aw oof about the framerate drops
i might look into getting fenyx if it isnt too expensive, i need a distraction from genshin shfhsj
yeah the character designs arent a strong point in fenyx i agree, but i think their take on hermes is adorable and the writing is really fun
i wasnt too into the designs but their personalities made up for it and im fond of them
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/kidicarus/images/2/29/Pitkiart1.png/revision/latest/top-crop/width/300/height/300?cb=20160416015134 if ur wondering what i mean by nes pit vibes
so i just whipped out my 3ds yesterday
which game is this
Fenyx Immortals Rising, is the full title
i've got such a MASSIVE bone to pick with developers that come up with names like that
or publishers or whoever came up with that

IIRC it had a different name but they had some legal trouble over it
of course...
it's a dumb name for a dumb game
and i love it
it fits so well
you wanna see some dumb names?
kingdom hearts series is that-a-way ๐
it's like...
Kingdom Hearts 3.14 part 2.5 remix solve for X REMASTERED
its a good name
I don't think anything topped 358/2 Days
YES
Regarding KH and dumb names
so it's like...
179 days?
C&C will forever be stuck in my head for two things
1 - awesome music

i didnt rly enjoy the game's emphasis on competitive
i get that it's what makes the moneys but in my experience ow was most fun when just messing around
Most creative video game name, go
Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass
Yakuza 6: the song of life...?
Princess Remedy In A World Of Hurt
Eliminate Nazi's: An American War simullator
i like that one
keep it that way
It has been horrible playing ranked these days
or for that matter, everytime
deathmatch is peak overwatch
^^^
the thing with Blizz is: they try to balance the game as a CASUAL game
Activision, wanting to have esports as the main thing for the game they want it balanced around being COMPETITIVE (which is most of us kinda want the game to look like)
FIFA 20
Blizz as in Blizzard?
yep
they use Quickplay data for balancing
and see, in 2019 there was GOATs, and every single Damage character was buffed to the max
and when they did Role Queue in late 2019 , they forgot that they made that
my problem with blizzard is that they have this reputation of "Blizzard polish" so patches take a year to come out. and games take 10 years
Ok you are talking OW specifically
Because SC balancing wasn't casual at all xD
sorry were talking about a dead game
sc is brutal
i hate it cause i like starcraft
the closest thing to it was the absolute garbage WoW 3 remaster
i paid money for that
the ๐ฅ garbo
welp, don't play a lot of OW like before
thank god something like a CDPR game exists so it can waste my time and not be toxic

i swear that bloons is the best competitive game
and boring
well, I prefer long boring games
Weirdchamp
I played Witcher 3 and it took me a year to finish
sheeesh
My friends haven't peer pressured me in a while
last time it took me 10 times to beat QueLaag
Had GraveLord sword, because friends are the Big Brother that helps you playing
well... speaking of weird game titles
i recently went back to Killing Floor 2
honestly - that's false advertising right there
the floor poses no danger and cannot be killed
0/10 IGN
for real
how is it that the latest DOOM is called DOOM Eternal, yet I only play it for 16 hours and the story is done?
smh
@ devs
fun fact
there's an old mapset called Eternal Doom
and it came out years before Doom Eternal
Look, Final Fantasy, you fool me once, shame on you. You fool me fifteen times....
just... the whole doom timeline is weird as heck
there's Doom, then there's Doom2, then there's Ultimate Doom, then there's Final Doom, then there's Doom 64...
and then doom 3
like... what
more like... 15 times and some change
DOOM 3
didn't you mean Horror demon?
don't forget spinoffs and stuff like...
FF13, FF13-2, FF13-3
yeah the game that has a really kick ass soundtrack...
...with just one track on it
the rest of it is audiologs and creepy bathroom ambient
^^
i mean...
i don't mind doom 3 - i don't think it's a bad game, quite the opposite - i think it's great at what it's trying to do
the thing is... it's trying to be spooky
and i don't really play doom for spooks
i play doom for
the same problem that happened with Dark souls 2

Good game, doesn't live up to it's name
yeah
that rhymes

i mean - heck
you wanna talk weird series?
how about Medievil - a series that... somehow has 4 games
and yet - at the same time it's only got 2 games
wrap your head around that
there's:
Medievil from 1998 - ok, cool
then Medievil 2 - so far so good
then there's... a medievil 1 remake on the PSP
and last year yet ANOTHER remake of medievil 1 came out on the ps4
this whole series is literally half remakes
milking nostalgia baby
i mean - it's a good game
and they're not just some remasters - they're full on remakes on new engines and such
it's just...
Y tho?
why do i always end up talking about doom when im here?
viddy gaems
@fathom juniper so tell me
SOMA, you say
oh it's one of my fave horror games ever
someone told me to play it
oh it's great
as long as you don't mind """walking sims"""
i don't want to spoil it
soma? ๐ค
i'm just gonna say that... i wasn't actually sure about it at first - it took a while for it to hook me it
from the same devs that made Amnesia right?
never heard of it, you gotta sell it to me, as horror isn't something I tend to go for xD
but once it did - by the end of it i curled up in a fetal position and watched the credits roll
like...
- neeeeeeyh *
yup - same devs
he's talking about you for liking SOMA
if it's an ending like the dlc from bioshock infinite I'm out in a flash xD
me too^
"i love everyone"
askjdasd
well i don't
ye
but yeah - if i were to pick one horror game for someone who's not really into the genre
i'd pick soma
I'm guessing that he also "knows what's good" huh
easy to get into, doesn't rely too much on gore and jump scares
oh bless that
but it's themes and atmosphere are so thicc and heavy they can really get under your skin
I'm not exactly turned off by gore, but one has their limits. and jump scares... yeah nope thank you very much xD
it's a...
really cathartic experience
also - it's got great characters and dialogue ๐
it's on steam, ps4, the xbone
uhhh... i think?
(but again, if it's an ending like the bioshock infinite DLC I'll be demanding reimbursement aslkdjasd)
(I'm sorry)
xbone?, THE xbone?
||the second for surrree||
ah
the story heavy one
the one that ||makes you go through all the stages of grief and emotional damage in one go while making you go "that was a great story"||
it's fiiiiiiine
everything's gonna be fiiiiine
just go play the game you'll be fine
alrighty then, that extended fine isn't so reassuring tho
yes ma'am, right in the feels
on par with
and maybe GRIS
true. tho I can replay transistor just fine xD
well...
there's only one way to find out if i was joking there or not

I guess it's the ||fact that red and boxer are together and happy in the end|| that does it for me xD
|| they both hurt me too good, Liz sitting there and Jack( that was his name) was saving the girls, and that french(was it french?) music rolled over and I'm sobbing thru||
||jack...? ๐ค oh wait, the saving of girls in bioshock 2? clearly I haven't played either in a while because I only remember the Feelsโข they gave me xD but omg the bit in the fake paris... way to start that arc with a heavy punch. it was so pretty but also, so dang unsettling. I kept waiting for every fake french person to attack me on sight xD||
"but if you close your eyyyes ๐ต "
fun fact, the reason I added the game Airborne Kingdom to my wishlist was because I loved the concept of the floating city in bioshock infinite xD
me: oh goodie, to make my own floating city????
I'm starting to think you have an encyclopaedic memory of all the games xD whereas I'm like "what song is this??" ๐คฃ
the skylines were awesome
a really cool concept
honestly, rapture's concept is also great. but I guess between deep underwater and high in the air, my brain goes "air better" xD

you were correct after all
and no I didn't play thru Bioshock 2, because my pc didn't like it
dang, Subject Delta > my pc
ah shucks ๐
bioshock 2 is like... not really connected to the 1st or infinite, which is funny considering it's set in rapture too. it's like... a side quest? ๐ค a couple of years ago, I think, I watched a playthrough of it instead of replaying xD like, I kinda wanted to replay but also not really?
so the playthrough was the way to go. the youtuber doing it was also engaging so that helped
Another case of the Dark souls 2 like games
Great games, but are they the games that the fans really want?
dont get me wrong , it was awesome , the hacking was 1000 times better and fun
dark souls... ohh. I wanted to try it out but huh, I can't figure out half the controls with the keyboard xD
which sucks, because I was so curious about that game
yeah, I got that conclusion very fast xD
I might have to watch a playthrough, because I'm still curious
It has a really cool thematic
And itโs giving this energy of โyou can do it!โ
but yeah, I gave up on trying to figure it out because I wanted to jump, I think, and couldn't and also died so fast xD
aww, I like it when games go "you can do it!"
it has this little of hope that makes you cling onto in a place where everything is dark and against you
Heres a fun fact: final boss (lord of cinder) song doesnโt have any dark note
oh ๐
and the song itself is kinda sad
(lemme real quick just say this: bioshock infinite's covers of popular songs in ye olde style are so cool. and I know it's just edited to sound like an old record, but the menu song is my fave)
that sounds like an emotional final boss battle ngl
Mind you I havenโt finished the game yet
I died 15 times going to a small boss yet I did it!
Feels like an accomplishment when you do it
Have a listen to the final boss theme
The Music of Dark Souls

Good convo with you!
Iโm heading out (i got school in 8 hours)
Gโnight
ok
goodnight! (and right back at you!)

it's quite interesting to watch, actually
why?
what's on today?
- looks around *
no - i don't see any new doom game around
and mirror's edge is long forgotten too
hmmmm...
- sighs *
i was working retail where all this cyberpunk kerfuffle was going on
and let me tell you - it wasn't pretty, even for people that weren't interested in the game
They can do it
oh hi, jimmy
you watched BCS too?
BOI did i
anywhoo - i hope they can do it
but i wouldn't hold my breath
i got burned out soooooo many times in recent years on all those AAA blunders
that i'm gonna sit this one out
and watch it from the sidelines
I want to play more, but the immersion is gone
if they somehow manage to save it - great
i'm gonna buy it few years down the line
if they don't... well -
see - this is why you don't buy AAA games on day one
never ever
i mean - heck - as much as i love SGGs games i even got burned out on preordering transistor
cause it had some MAJOR performance issues for me in the first few days
and once they fixed that (pretty quick i might add) i had to start the whole game from beginning just to soak it all in
it was a great game, but
you know
no preorders
i'd rather buy the game twice or three times after the launch - when it's stable
||ngl, we all knew it was coming||
yeah
didn't stop droves of customers utterly trashing the games aisle on launch day
the world looks awesome, the characters is awesome, the gameplay is fantastic
the bugs and the poor performance isn't cutting it
it was such a mess...
i had to glue that cardboard stand together every two or three hours
yeah...
in wise words of a character from a different cyberpunk dystopian game
- "what a shame..." *
well, I hope they can sort it out
now that their break is over, they have to fix the game bit by bit
and that's why you don't give release dates!
they're in some deep ๐ฉ now tho
^^
with lawsuits and such
everyone got ultra Jebaited
there is no apology video that will get the people to trust them
@ me when witcher 4 comes out and becomes polished and not downgraded
there are people complaining that there's no flying cars in the game
me watching cars glitch out and fall from the sky:
"i dunno mate - i see flying cars right over there"
iunno whatchu on about
exactly
in short KeanuPunk 2077 was cool , but buggy
time to play the yakuza series then
i mean...
or control now that they're coming to game pass
hello everyone
hi
look - fallout: new vegan is one of my fave games ever - hands down the best RPG experiences i've ever had
and also outer wilds for that matter
and that game is literally made with toothpicks and good writing
I need to see FONV and keep an eye for it
and required three days of installing mods to make it good
and is literally unplayable on ps3 (as in - you can't even finish it)
just joined in this server and I was thinking about something
and yet people still sing praises about nv up to this day - 10 years later
so i dunno - maybe cyberjunk will meet the same fate
here's hoping ๐ค
go on @true flint
Supergiant fighting game
Go on...
after playing hades for a while, the visuals imo fit perfectly for a fighting game
#supergiant-games then
going there. ๐

here's hoping
has anyone else played grindstone? i've been really into the switch version (because screw apple arcade)
So. Iโm a little orphan now that I kinda finished my objectives in hades. Suggestions of games with good stories and fun to play
Skyrim on release was also a buggy mess with flying horses, weird AI behaviour and what not.. heck, it still is.. but that doesn't mean that's one of the most significant games of the decade, i should say
let's see, good story and fun to play.. that depends on the genre
also, i try not to wait for Silksong that much, even though there's nothing much for the authors to screw up, but one and a half years of waiting is already too much
I've been into Streets of Rogue recently. Currently playing on itch.io and considering buying the steam version.
speaking of Obsidian.. what about Tyranny? afaik, it has a huge story and classic rpg gameplay
I was thinking Chaos Bane
It helps that Skyrim is so moddable that its community has singehandely kept it relevant
the kid icarus: of myths and monsters manual refers to pit with the three sacred treasures as "Amazing Pit"
manual: refers to specific rooms as 'chambers'
me: haha nice h
Of Myths and Monsters was a wild game.
is it?
i havent played it but it gives me the vibes that it is
shame that uprising literally doesn't acknowledge it at all
(though there's a reason for it- it didn't release in japan until it was slapped on virtual console like a month before kiu came out)
but some redesigns of some ofthat game's enemies could've been fun
wow according to divinipedia they didn't even rename the game for said vc release (the series isn't called kid icarus in japan)
actually funnily enough the japanese name for uprising is just the japanese name for the first game but with โnewโ in front
one (1) official nintendo publication announced a โsuper kid icarusโ in the 90s but literally name-dropped it and nothing else, and it was never mentioned again
Well, if I recall correctly, Of Myths and Monsters wasn't developed by the same folks as the original game, so a lot of the lore is even weirder.
It makes total sense to me that none of the game events were referenced in Uprising, it's all "ambiguously canon content".
it doesn't really contradict any lore, not that the first game had that much lore to contradict anyway
they did redesign and rename a good chunk of the enemies for absolutely no reason though
For those who are thinking what to play next after Hades, here're some good suggestions (I've been sold by the mention of steampunk elements in Sparklite - on my wishlist now).
https://www.thegamer.com/hades-similar-dungeon-crawlers/amp/?fbclid=IwAR2u1fiaOjPgriPAtcxIinK5LXq6d8Kv_2A51Lxtgjn4Pr2y5JTlyhAqMo4
Damn, a gaming journal article on Hades that is actually good instead of trashy tier list?
Is this even legal?
Fun fact - I found it on Facebook, as it was posted by 11 bit Studios (Creators of This War of Mine and Frostpunk).
So they apparently have a good taste for such things, which is nice. Also, I was surprised that they posted about Hades (recommending to play it as it's "one of the best #indiegames of 2020" in their opinion). It's nice to see one indie studio showing love to another indie studio in such a way.
Funny to see a Diablo III image, but they're not wrong in terms of feel to an extent tbh.
ohhh yea ive played sparklite its solid!
fun fact: on hard mode in mega man 10, pump man gains a new attack where he throws his handle at you
That'd pump yourself up
it sure is, I liked it much less than 2016 version tho
Fair
I get that some people feeling "meh" about eternal
but I play too much fast action paced shooters , and doom eternal was better than '16 imo
it felt very "on rails" combat-wise
imagine Bastion but with it pretty much forcing you to use specific weapons on specific enemies, pretty tedious in long term
at least that's how I felt
one thing for sure
frick Pinkys, but now frick them less
oh I feel like Pinkys are fun haha
I despised Imps in 2016 tho lol
also,||give me that template, I want to do my take on it||
ty
Soo Indivisible wasn't that good? I was interested in buying it
Sort of I guess, as far as any game series go, I suppose Xcom is pretty active.
literally every nice thing in it is undercut by something not very nice. sometimes I think about giving it a second chance but then I remember just how tedious it can be
they released a brand new game last year and I'd say it's exceedingly neat haha
Update steam store page is down again
Oh well off to play genshin impact again
Update it back the store page working now
:)
my biggest fear for xcom 3 is that 2 is so good especially with its huge mod community that I won't bother moving to the new game haha
yeah I keep wondering what they'll do with XCOM 3, I would love to see some combat changes from Chimera Squad making their way into X3
I wouldn't want them bringing interleaved turns or predefined soldiers beyond the obligatory tutorial survivor into the main installments but certain things like cover reducing damage was nice
It didn't happen with EW and 2 it won't happen with 2 and 3
EW didn't have mod support
Xcom CS gave us someone incredibly important tho
its one mod was Long War
pants sectoid...................
Granted it was jarring that they didn't even bother to give aliens voices to the aliens
yeah apparently the voice actor for torque didn't even know she was voicing a giant snake
torque is a good name
works alright for a snake too cuz coils
torque is rotational/spinning/twisting force
man - that ayylien's got some style
and to think they used to run around naked lol
yeah
and dodging 95% shots

Isn't Ocean's heart a mobile game as well? Or am I thinking of a different game
ok, go
had to decide where to put Hades.. wish there could be an option to choose one game more than once
otherwise it would look like this https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/775583829649129495/801884459774640178/FAVORITE_GAME_MEME_b.jpg?width=552&height=675
you've seen that coming

1 2-1 2-2 Alyx
give us Adrian Shepard back
oh boi I can't wait to play Alyx in like 5 years maybe
somehow I managed to steer clear of spoilers so far which is nice
This is the 2013 Taxman version of Sonic 2, running on PC because of work by RubberDuckyCooly. Changed the Height in the source code to see everything. Recorded at 21:9 Ultrawide 2560x1080, actual resolution is 4096x2160 but scaled down.
sorry about the lack of content as of late.
Christian Whitehead,everyone!
God, my wishlist is already 400 games long lol
i have a bad habit of putting games on my wishlist...
and then completely forgetting about them and ignoring all the notifications

Relatable or well used to be so. I have considerably reduced the amount of usual games in my wishlist
but still
30 games
I enjoy going through my wishlist and feeling second-hand embarrassment from my past self's decisions
What I like about my current wishlist
27 out of 31 are yet to be released and most have unknown release dates
so it's a lot of soon
for many months
Cybershadow next week
Ninja gaiden Spiritual succesor by the developers of Shovel knight
and a bunch of metroidvania coming
(No silksong sad)
The thing is I wishlist games I don't want to forget they exist
Reminder the Resident evil showcase is in Half an Hour
Just saying
But yeah my wishlist is basically three Tiers:
-
Game I'm dying to play.
-
games I wanna play for the plot (And don't mind to watch them in YT instead)
-
Games that are there and may take a liking in the future
Same
ooooh man - from what i've seen from recent leaks
this game's gonna make some headlines
Wow, someone here brought up that idea the other day as a Hades DLC and I thought it was rad.
I'm enjoying browsing the Double Fine website that launched today, lots of funny bits everywhere: https://www.doublefine.com
i'm glad to see them still around and about in 2021
not so glad to see them not making brutal legend 2
but then again... it wouldn't be the same without lemmy
but hey - at least psychonauts 2 is coming along nicely
I'm so excited about Psy 2. Psychonauts is my favourite game!
Brutal Legend was awesome. Lots of people are clamouring for a sequel, especially with Jack Black involved in Tim Schafer's later games too, but I don't think that will be their next project after Psychonauts 2, they want to do something brand new to change it up after working for so long on a sequel.
well - the issue with brutal legend is...
one of it's strongest suits, ironically
the music
I'm excited for nothing because I can't afford them :D
licencing all of that took money and some big boy lawyers
they only managed to do that in the first place with EA's backing - since they were the publisher
but now that they're mostly indie (kinda?)
i doubt a sequel is ever going to happen
Well, now they're in the warm embrace of X-Box, so maybe they'll get the backing they need there. Brutal Legend is on Game Pass now!
oh damn - i totally forgot microsoft bought them

ok - this... changes things
oh damn the goose is coming
microsoft buys too many studios....
let's hope that this makes a change in the console world
and benefit us pc gamers too, since we have XBOX Game Pass
welp
I'm going to resub so I can get ultimate
for 1$
3 months free
because I got the offer from discord already
Speaking of, @polar dragon if you're interested in any of those games, Game Pass is an option to play them affordably. I recently did the 3months for 1dollar deal.
go play brutal legend if you haven't yet @floral warren
in fact
i'm gonna go and jam to it's OST
Interesting I'll check it out
For her, he'll do anything.

NGL - brutal legend has one of the hypest ending bosses ever
like - dad, dad 2: revenge of dad and dad 3: redemption might be cool
but this one's... oh it's up there
it's console only
lemee recheck
nope
No, you're right!
it's on steam too
noice/10
i gotta make one of those
but it's gonna be... mostly nineties shooters, mirror's edge and some SGG games

transisy, GRIS, Bioshock, Life is strange
talk about a picky lass!
lol good call on 'You like, Everyone Hates'. That one might be mine too.
Skylines FTW
Mostly because I love the story and characters.
How do you get the logos to put in the meme in a non-time consuming way? Steam icons?
I think so
I copy pasted steam icons yes
I'll make mine sooner or later
or google
My steam icons don't look anything like that. ๐ค
Classic Steam Theme
LiS2 biggest letdown? Guess I don't have try to it then.
I think I'll do it without the downer categories. I don't want to call a game I've played 'Overrated' and so on.
Trust me itยดs horrible and full of leftist propaganda.
lol wut
I have never seen a game being so politically on the nose.
When people use phrases like 'leftist propaganda' like that means anything...
The best part is that could mean like 5 different things. ๐
I know, right?
Well the game starts out with telling you in your face that "cops are bad".
The game? Or the characters, who might have some reason to think that?
The game.
Oh god never touch Disco Elysium
Isnยดt disco elysium a dystopian sci fi?
Disco Elysium can only be played, it cannot be summarized.
But I hear its awesome.
^
yeaaahh
Is it political... or political propaganda. Those are 2 different things.
I don't think the word "propaganda" means what you think it means.
Sure does. Thatยดs how language works.
What I hear in my mind when I hear 'leftist propaganda': https://youtu.be/fqP0Tn-qRJY?t=217
Manny helps the unemployed bees to get busy... Or not.
i dont feel like editing this together but i can just write one out
favorite game of all time: i am TERRIBLE at picking favorites of anything so i'll skip this one
best story: dang that's a tough one, there's several things that can make a story good
favorite art style: AAAA TOO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM.... some standouts in no particular order include jet set radio, smile for me, lumino city, detective grimoire and tangle tower (technically those last two are in the same series but there's a notable difference in art style between the two)
"I'll finish it some day": psychonauts. i got to the meat circus and got intimidated
big personal impact: man i don't know...the mother games maybe? specifically 2/earthbound and 3
best combat: ohhh man idk thats tricky...
you like, but everyone hates: pokemon shield, the yokai watch games (yokai watch isnt necessarily 'everyone hates' but people seem to dunk on it a lot)
you hate, but everyone likes: pokemon go
underrated: tadpole treble
overrated: ocarina of time
"why do i like this?": any of the boring-ass puzzle games i play
game you always come back to: ...gungeon maybe? i don't really replay games
That atmosphere...: return of the obra dinn
Bad Day Cure: grindstone, sometimes picross
Favorite Protagonist: murder by numbers, grim fandango, jenny leclue detectivu, day of the tentacle, borderlands the pre-sequel (SPECIFICALLY aurelia)...
After Work Relaxation: various puzzle games
Biggest Letdown: dust: an elysian tail. like all the steam reviews were "OH MY GOD THIS GAME IS SO AMAZING" and i played it and it was really boring
"Back in the day" game: im not sure what this means but im gonna go with Disney Universe on xbox 360
"Not the best, but I'm having fun": nefarious
Criminally Overlooked: wuppo
Depressing Game: hollow knight (i actually couldnt get very far in the game because of this, it just made me upset to play)
Compared to the first one it is
oh no thats a bigger wall of text than i expected
I think the fact each chapter mostly discarded its characters to bring new ones
oh i can do a text one too then
Favorite ACTIVE Franchise: splatoon, maybe?
Indie Pick: huh?? like half of these are indies i
Not usually my thing, but... smash bros
TIL splatoon is a franchise
i mean it's got two games so far but nintendo seems to have decently big plans for it
what defines a franchise
I didn't even know there were two games, so that's fair. ๐
Cash!
Cash!
YOU'RE A GAME NOW!
YOU'RE A FRANCHISE NOW!
You're a game! You're a franchise! You're a game! You're a franchise!
You're a game now!
Milk it all now!
Up the store now!
What
The splatoon song, m8
I am bad with this list my game memory is poor.
The original was too catchy
there's a somewhat infamous commercial for the first game involving someone saying "you're a kid now, you're a squid now"
oh yeah while i was outside a few hours ago my brainyot went Hades But Its Splatoon.....
the chthonic gods are all either octolings or deep sea creatures
Which makes sense
I mean, it wouldn't take much to change Chaos themself
and their domain
It's funny, I think the most popular characters of the game are the music group
That didn't even appear in the first game
i mean i know a good amount of splatoon fans who didn't play the first game
I can't do this meme, it's too hard. Instead:
Favourite genre: point and click adventure games, especially Monkey Island, Grim Fandango and Broken Age
Favourite story: The Blackwell Series
Favourite game: Psychonauts
Favourite series: Final Fantasy, especially IX, VII and XV
Favourite combat games: Bioshock series, Control, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Transistor, Hades
Yeah I tried to do the meme and like, the selections do not make for fun examples in my case (Destiny is my favorite game on average and covers too much lol)
Whereas there are lots of cool games in like sub-categories...
Yeah, some games fit for more than one category
Some of the categories overlap each other
Yep.
And I don't quite get "indie pick" one
Yeah, that one is weird.
I still prefer the good ol' tier list
I don't want to choose between Hades, Disco Elysium, and Amid Evil.
Does Endless Space 2 count as indie?
At some point I wanted just to slap minecraft pickaxe there and that's it
There's a bunch of games that I like for various overlapping reasons that are all long form... so Minecraft is a good example, also WoW.
I.e., games you can play for ages that are going to be good at something.
And what about soundtrack category? Missing that one
oh yeah hehe
games I'll "finish someday": all the TES games, gothic 2, any of those long RPGs like Pillars of Eternity ๐
Guys, don't you think you are overthinking it?
Tes?
I think the meme spurs overthink
The Elder Scrolls
I wasn't able to just pick a game without immediately overthinking the categories
and yeah, Minecraft is significant for me, in many ways, from back in the day to personal impact
And that's WoW for me because of the social reasons and also just long history with Warcraft, Wacraft II was my first game ๐
ok but not everyone remembers what their first game was
need example
...example of what
forgotten first game, why was it forgotten
i certainly don't remember what my first video game was
how would they remember it if it's forgotten
if they forgot it it probably wasn't memorable on any level tbh
First games were educational computer ones at school like Adibu and Granny's Garden.
i clearly remember playing Duck Hunt, when i've turned 4, and parents bought first NES clone with a 99 in 1 cartridge
it was first in the list
haha
well.. considering modern kids start playing earlier than walking, i can believe, that first game ever can be forgotten
"that game for cats where you tap the insects"
sorta
Mine was Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo actually
or first PC game (other than Minesweeper)
good old Mario.. even though the series is so old, still he brings memories to many generations
(excuse the poor slapped on together, I'm using photoshop at 3am)
feel free to critique my "based" opinion on the games mentioned above
burial at sea ayyy so true (also yay dishonored (2)!!)
people say "oh no, 2020 was (Insert something bad)"
but for me.. 2020 was the year I was really really introduced to masterpieces
I feel like I can't do this because I'd leave half the squares empty, BUT it would also be funny to see how many of my fave games folks know of ๐คฃ
Dishonored, Bioshock, DOOM, SGGames
If it weren't for quarantine, and my friends... I wouldn't knew these games.
yeah, 2020 did have some highlights
the latter is mine and only me tho
2020's games might be the games I will remember forever
Doom eternal , hades, CP77
I cannot stop thinking about these three games
(sorry if I don't comment much, it's late and I'm just finishing off a task at hogwarts mystery ๐ )
cp 77's|| Never fade away is the paper boats of cp77||
dw it's not a spoiler per se
|| the guitar riffs come in, and here is the sobbing come through ,every. single. time||
we'll never fade away
That feels undertale-y with an old Final fantasy style recipe
the mature content description is... fascinating
I spent what i've had for SGGames and invisible inc.
The Warning description is truly a Morton's fork
the game looks aesthetic tho
You spoil your own game to warn the viewers or you don't and some feel uncomfortable
sure
added to wish list
if this game is another one that || digs a bigger void more than fill it|| , tell me
It's cathartic
Am derp, what is AR:2?
Atelier Ryza 2
2020 had a few select good games but I'd say its the weakest year since at least 2016, if not longer
2016 games was fine
was it?
2015 was the year imo
MGSV , W3 , these two in one year
and you have platformer year aka 2017
at least 2016 had a hyped-up game and got insta GOTY
everyone got what they wanted in 2016
Souls? yep
Stealth? yep
Naughty dog game? yep
Remember Pokemon go? that was 2016
oh goodness
Pokรฉmon Go.. I've remembered all the stuff happening around it
people got arrested for catching them in the places they shouldn't be in
I still remember when I was on that Overwatch hype train and was playing every single free weekend
game impossible in 2020
Iโm maybe looking back from a rose tinted glasses, but 2016 had a lot of great games that some people still discover and play till this day
i'll just write this up as well.
favourite game of all time: toss up between A Link Between Worlds or Final Fantasy 4
best story: Trails series
favourite art style: any SGG games really, but I think I like Transistor's art style and futuristic settings the most
you hate but everyone likes: Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and survival games
big personal impact: Souls series
best combat: hmmmm any Shin Megami Tensei games
game you always come back to: Grim Dawn
that atmosphere: Bloodborne
bad day cure: : Animal Crossing: New Horizons
favourite protagonist: Final Fantasy 4's Cecil
Indie pick: Hades
"why do i like this..?: Borderlands 2 and 3
I really want to be in that Souls friends circle
Iโm too much of a little brother to finish it on my own
So I got four people to help me
I decided to leave it for a bit cuz I got that one โbut story is importantโ kinda guy and heโs maybe right
rn Iโm tackling the yakuza series and Control
I saw it with my friend
Apperantly there was a side quest on ||how to become a good bdsm-er||
I lost it when I saw Kiryu helping out
and I also did the โmemeโ when I saw the first karaoke
Kiryu has a heart of gold, he'll help anyone with anything ๐คฃ

it's an abusive relationship
Anybody know any good hero shooters that aren't Overwatch or Valorant? They haven't been doing it for me and the Gigantic servers shut down a long time ago, soooooo yeah...
Apex?
God, I'm dying For Control 2
TF2
Oh I guess thats a class not hero shooter
Uh
Paladins exists
But for a game like Gigantic, yeah
It doesnt exist
Sorry
requires origin so no and i don't like battle royales unless they are in VR.
never heard of it
maybe, i'll try it.
Because it doesn't exist (Yet)
tf2 is a weird game, i want to play it more but it's only fun with friends
There are a few fan project that try to recreate Gigantic but none are anywhere near finished
Could try Spellbreak
i haven't tried it but my brother said it was fortnite but mixed with hot garbage and witchcraft from the 16th century
It has a non-battle royale gamemode
it was the best hero shooter that's how i know that has to be a lie.
ironic
right...?
Sometimes good games just don't get a following, or they fail behind the scenes
Multiplayer only games go big or crash spectacularly
like titanfall
league versus Gigantic is a testament to that
never heard of it
Exactly
wow
ok
only thing that comes up when i look it up is that old youtube series company. they were kinda like smosh
Rooster teeth is quite big
The thing is their game crashed and burned because they promoted horribly and the game wasn't that unique
like valo did with twitch
Oh and was a paid multiplayer game

RE8 is giving mad RE4-2 vibes and I'm here for it
i understand that covid n all but NOTHING???
yeyeye - even the devs said they're bringing in a lot of RE4 influences into this one
oh fun
My only concern is that, with the rumors of an RE4 remake, it feels weird to be treading similar ground
Talk about "radio silent"
i mean even the name is kind of Evocative of re4's setting, right?
gothic horror, european setting, attache case
, a new merchant - it's all here
they literally meant it
the village
i havent played any of the re games
exactly
ayyy nice
i played...
let me count
Village, a prominent castle, a ritual
i still think re7's subtitles are amazing
in english it's RESIDENT EVIL 7: BIOHAZARD and then in japan it's BIOHAZARD 7: RESIDENT EVIL
oh it's been like that since 1996
yeah i know its called biohazard but the fact that they subtitled it the other language's name
oh you mean that subtitle
yea
i think subtitle as in "captions but without the sound effects" and subtitle as in "title after the title" should be different words
Was titled "resident evil 4"
the judgmenent painting
yeah i remember that too
because its very hard to context clues which one they meant
i think on switch it still isn't capitalized
its not supposed to be, i dont think?
i dunno folks
Right, but every other game is
my boxed copy still says "4 resident evil"
EXACTLY
So it looked horrible in the library
