Life is Strange was a really fun experience for me though. Played it with friends made it extra special.
I figured as much, then I tried doing it, couldnt be bothered to upload to imgur and just dropped it
I was joking with a friend that Portlandia and LiS makes Oregon look like a Hipster hellscape
i mean poking a dead fox with frinds can be fun
Basically out of the roguelites on that list that I played
I only really disliked risk of Rain 2
my top 5 games are xc1, hollow knight, nier:a, hades, and celeste
I hated it at first, then it grew on me.
I actually downloaded the headers one by one from Steam lol
HMs: night in the woods, omori, TF|2, hotline miami, katana zero
It has almost every game cover art with consistent style and dimensions.
yooooo
what is hms?
honorable mentions
gunfire reborn sucks balls, having roguelite in a fps format just dont do it for me
Yes! One of my favourite series
isnt a dune movie is coming out
I havent read a book since like 9th grade

I have read copious nosleep/creepypasta stories though
Anyway, didn't mean to derail video games chat
If you like absurdist humor, Vonnegut is an awesome writer.
You gonna hate BPM then
whats bpm
Bullet per Minute?
A FPS roguelite
Are the sequels to dune good? Ive only read the first
this aesthetic is so cool https://youtu.be/tFzaXwMv2qU
Want to see this run with the music I was jamming out to?

settings: 1000 dpi, 0.161 ingame look speed, hrtf on, 99 fov, 1.5 gamma, gaming facemask
log: https://ddstats.com/games/110179
But yeah my three favourite games of the year were Death Stranding, Haven and Omori
i think history will be kind to death stranding
MHR
yah the general consensus on it was “you need to like this type of game then its a masterpiece”.

Teaser Trailer for FAITH, a pixel horror game inspired by the era of MS...
Tlou2 on the other hand...
botw2 needs playable zelda, or AT LEAST appearance of midna, confirmed before i commit to maximum hype for it
Ys IX
also yeah the FAITH games are some of the best horror games i've seen
Also Tales of Arise
Scarlet Nexus
And probably a few more I cant recall off the top of my head
And eh, I'd say history won't be kind to Death Stranding
It was hyped to high heavens, but once the hype tapered out, general opinion was rather mixed
no i think death stranding have their own therapeutic value to them (not including the boss fight in the end) like most walking simulators per se
botw2 needs playable zelda
Zelda is the main character so that's a given
no i mean the princess
yeah zelda is a good guy
Honestly I didn't expect pixel game to be tense, but they pulled it off per the trailer
the legend of zegend
It being a cult classic is possible, except
I haven't played it myself
Even the fans seem to not be talking much about it anymore
trying to think of my favorite horror game
easy solution: play FAITH, then say FAITH
no one talking about papers please anymore, doesnt make it forgettable
Nah people still talk about Papers Please
Whenever its applicable, anyway
But Death Stranding?
then people still talk about death stranding whenever its applicable too
idk whereve you been, but its still talked about
pretty much anything by Yames
I mean, the usual circles
doesnt seem like that to me
Which thanks to Cyberpunk has been a topic of note lately
I mean not a comparision
which also disprove your own point which says deathc stranding isnt talked about anymore
But people talk about overhyped games in relation to Cyberpunk
And then the usual suspects are named
kek
Outer Worlds, Death Stranding, No Mans Sky
truth be told I mostly just watch uncommentated playthroughs of horror games rather than playing them myself
And yeah, Outer Worlds is all but forgotten except for that
I'm thinking games I spent 20 or more hours in 2020
And so is Death Stranding it seems
Granted I do think Death Stranding just kinda got unlucky
i think i mostly watch vinny playthroughs of horror games :V
shoutouts alphabetagamer
Wrong, it's also brought up to say is not the same game as Outer Wilds
It released just after Disco Elysium
outer wilds ran like ass on my pc
I went to the tornado planet and was getting like 30 fps
oh that's a tragedy
2060 super btw
So for the types of people who could turn it into a cult classic, there was a much better game just 2 weeks prior
yea as long as theres bethesdas fallout, theres talks about outer worlds
also kinda weird, i had no significant problems and i played it on a 1070
I don't think my Brian is big enough for it
I actually made a point of making a list of games to reccomend once I finished them
I ran it on a 750 TI
To not forgot them
And it ran perfectly
I need to be able to bash my head against puzzles and outer wilds doesnt let me
from what I've played at least
i never played outer wilds personally, sounds like a survival game, and i kinda hate survival games
space?
Arguably the best at both
it's not but i can see where the impression would come from
yeah same
blasphemy
I can't rember what my goty 2019 was
However
it's like, portal levels of elegant perfection
portal 2 slaps
except for the final puzzle
David Mitchell in Disco Elysium may retroactively bump it up
my brian was big enough for that
past 2 years is a blur to me, i dont rly remember the timeline for the games that comes out
outer wilds is a roguelike
it actually sort of is
Outer Wilds is a game about information
But yeah like
except the progression is entirely about learning things
You have the resources to finish the game the moment you start a new playthrough
that's so cool
It's impossible to reach the solution without that information tho
yeah and not in a botw "well if u really want to u can beat the game in 45 minutes" way, like literally nothing actually changes between playthroughs other than what you the player know
truly the breath of the wild of space exploration games /s
Oh right I finished Celestian Tales 2 this year.
I liked the conflict is almost purely human and that the actions of the first game crash down in the MCs hard
i dont have a switch so idk if botw is that good
it is
yeah at this point, hyuck it, dont give nintendo a red cent if u have the PC specs to emulate
nintendo is still a bad company mostly
they'll only get worse, as their back catalog of games for hardware which is no longer supported grows
people just dont care bcoz they make some good games sometime
lmao screw nintendo
i truly hate that nintendo makes the best games out of the Big Three but has the most consumer-hostile business practices
though sony's trying to catch up
like literaly shutting down tournaments and send out investigators
Nintendo ninjas were real
it's so surreal seeing that because I was active in the 3ds hacking community around 2016

Winter 2021
This game looks dope
I cancelled my switch online sub and got a "we miss you" email the day after
cringe
same thing to me with my vpn provider
we miss ur money
You say that but I played two Point and click games last year that were dope
was one of them hiveswap
LOL
I have got to reread hs
hiveswap artstyle looks very weird to me
Oh damn, The Medium comes this month
I don't know if I'm hyped or not
That game sends very polarizing signals
yea, hope the dual system works in the horror, rather than only a gimmick in some story sections
like cyberpunk braindance
I love being completely unaware about 97% of things cyberpunk 2003 related
yea, most ppl who even preordered it dont even know that its a sequel
I still gotta play Hiveswap
Anyone here played Spiritfarer?
oh speaking of horror, trevor henderson remains my favorite horror artist on twitter
Also pretty cool game
I did but got bored in like a week
never heard
Yeah, it can get repetitive
But the story enthralled me nonetheless
Ok, i checked all games I played this year
the only game I've played this year is omori
The lingering feeling is still there but I think is just me being tired
yeah you totally played hades last year
Last year*
I got an obsession with memories
I hate, HATE forgetting things
Specially good experiences
That's why I write down all good games I played
my brain is like a minecraft storage system
hold on lemme develop this analogy
it stores a lot of strong memories but I need a specific input to access them, else they're not in my consciousness at all
like a certain smell sound etc
i record my annual experiences through little stanza of peoms somewhere
cringe i knw, but i havent picked up writing for a while
It's just. I suppose I love treasuring memories in a way
That's why Forgotton anne and Memoria hitted me hard
I suppose it can't be healthy
have you played to the moon?
I gotta
yes
I love rpgmaker games
On the other hand the list is VERY helpful to reccomend games
I made a list of games I would check out when I built my PC https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/328246239160434691/794800359968473118/Screenshot_20210101-233232.jpg
sometimes tierlists felt weird to me, its like the experiences of the games we played might also affected by our current situation and stuff, so tierlists is kinda unfair to me to group those games
Anyways play Haven. The game is beautiful and Wholesome
i got 200+ games in my steam backlog that i havent even touvhed yet
Cyberpunk 2077 (upcoming) (nevermind)
Real mood
my steam backlog is: a hat in time, LISA, journey, slime rancher,
really not that bad
yeah that's really good
i need to buy a hat in time in the future, the game looks very cute
it is
and cuphead, i havent finished that too
Myself right now an only interested in finishing Eternal Radiance, Aria and Omnilink
oh damn I just remembered I havent actually finished hyper light drifter
I think I got stuck at the south miniboss
this was 2017 so my memory is a bit hazy
i think im stuck in a puzzle for that game and got frustrated that i just abandoned it
my train of thought there was like
cuphead → game difficulty → the certain flavor of difficulty I like → hollow knight/hyper light drifter → my progress in HLD
I like games where it feels like every death was your fault
theres a lot of roguelite that i have abandoned, only roguelites i finished is shovel knight, dead cells, rogue legacy and hades
i finished the final boss and just jumped ship after revealing theres more difficulties
and i played on mobile too, the controls are pretty smooth
I was enjoying my time w it but just getting smacked after 30+ minutes each run was grating
i mean i think i just go full bleed + freeze since im too scared for it
for someone who has never played FTL I sure do like the ost a lot
@dire condor i noticed your icon and...i see you have also played omori? 👀👀👀
finished it earlier today
yessssss
finished it earlier this week and loved it
i haven’t stopped thinking about it
a game has not made me cry like that in a Long Time
lowkey wish I had a white space of my own
i want to be friends with a sprout mole
actually i want to be friends with all of the sprout moles
they were fun
this song is gonna be stuck in my head for a week https://youtu.be/tnyNKmndmRg
Composed by Pedro Silva.
i was listening to world’s end valentine on loop earlier
that track had no reason to slap so hard
but i’m glad it did
all of the boss themes slap boisterously
YEAH
i still can’t believe how much of the ost is by the ooblets composer?? i feel like they really showed off their range with this game
i love slime girls so i was pumped
I think the yume nikki parts of the game were done very well
Composed by Pedro Silva.
oh yeah absolutely. i really felt the admiration the team had for the game in those segments too
other track which really slapped: the recycling song for some reason https://youtu.be/nlIMTln7ZGI
Composed by Pedro Silva.
OOH THIS ONE TOO https://youtu.be/2zha0Yb126o
Composed by Jami Lynne.
and I really really liked the battle system
yeah, battle system was such a nice refresh of typical earthbound-like rpg mechanics
i thought the changing emotional states as opposed to static types was both interesting mechanically and fitting narratively
it was fun to develop actual strategy/setups beyond spamming attack lol
as I often do in other games of this type
I actually haven't played off yet
it’s really cool! the combat’s just...not fun lol
but still very worth playing at least once
it’s only like three hours long i think?
pepper steak remains one of my favorite battle themes
avatar beat too
bwop bwop bwop bwop bwop bwaaaaaah
unfortunately I Know Things about off
but I was fortunate enough to go into omori completely blind
yeah, i’m honestly so glad i beat it so quickly
i had the same experience with undertale thankfully too
it was nice not risking spoilers
i only had that w deltarune
when undertale came out I was a broke middle schooler so I basically read every single wiki page and learned everything about the game thru osmosis LOL
eventually I played the game for myself in 2019(?) and it was still pretty damn good
thx Toby fox for making Halloween 2018 the best one of my life so far
it slaps so hard
i found out about undertale on launch day and started playing it a week later because i had a big college project deadline at the time
it took me embarrassingly long to beat my first try...like maybe 12 hours...
now i can do it in like four lol
think mine was about 7
i’ve played undertale like...at least seven times??
maybe more
it was a big comfort game for me in college haha
I think my physical limit for replaying games is 3 times
like I played through Xenoblade 1 on the Wii 3 times and I was super excited for the remake that came out last year
but I only got about halfway through my playthrough of it
i was going through a Time and needed to hang out with my friend papyrus
I played omori for at least 7 hours yesterday
i also played an embarrassing amount of omori over the christmas holiday weekend
i don’t usually play games for that long in one sitting
my lowest moment was when I played terraria for 13 hours straight LMA O
omg
i did a 24 hour extra life charity marathon in college so that’s easily my longest gaming session i guess haha
i can’t say i can pull all-nighters like that anymore at the ripe age of 26
I try not to game for that long anymore but I get sucked in sometimes
on the topic of not getting sleep, i should get to sleep! nice talking to you about omori!
good night!!
every time i see the name of the character Diona from genshin i immediately hear heeeey zag man in my head
Hitman 3 is the highly anticipated finale to IO Interactive’s expansive World of Assassination Trilogy that began back in Hitman 2016. The game will take Agent 47 on an adventure across the globe as he eliminates the leaders of a menacing secret society, and his journey begins atop the tallest skyscraper in the world. nice
Bloot. That's why the bartender that uses alcohol like a weapon is called like that
What?
Bloot?
Hmm
Tough Love Arena is a web-based, indie fighting game with rollback netcode that's 100% free to play.
yikes 😬
it's incredibly sad to see the state of CP77
I was waiting on a Watchdogs + extra Cyberpunk style for so long
I was excited for it after the "you're breathtaking" event
(and I'm still going to play it after it gets a complete edition or a GOTY-ish version of it)
excessive hype and rushed release ruined most of experience.. but i think, it still can become better
most problems are fixable
Them really promising and trying to regain trust makes me hopeful for a comeback
bugs and crashes can be fixed, unreleased content can be added, incompetent direction can be fired, so it's not that bad
Most of what its missing wont be added
bugs and crashes can be fixed but racist and transphobic content is forever 😌
i still wouldn't pick up cyberpunk
There are less racist/ transphobic cyberpunk genre games I'm sure
can you elaborate/clarify a bit on that part?
I'm confused
*I'm sure there are other games in the genre that are less awful at that, but the genre does involve not great societal aspects by default
I'm curious if it kept the abelism of earlier versions as well post release
The tabletop version had mechanical mandates for lowering your humanity when you had implants/ assists
Well, technically if a new game director steps up
how are you doing to do that? remake the darn game?
Maybe someday 🥲
Square Enix has entered the chat
😂
i don't trust cdpr to remake it, they've Clearly shown their willingness to put racist and transphobic content in the game regardless of public backlash by decent people
Ok I heard transphobia but not racism
iirc there's a street gang of Random Generic Katana-Wielding But Chinese Speaking Asian People
and maybe one that's got racist depictions of latino people but idr
Ah classic 🙃
I cant believe people hyped that game so much when they could have just played Hades. Smh
If there are I haven't seen them
- when they could have played literally anything else
😆 truuuuu
You talking about Arasaka?
i haven't actually played the game, but i am going off of what i've seen asian game devs/games writers talk about, so i may be misremembering details but i'm Very sure i've seen complaints
and then the transphobia of the whole character creator i think speaks for itself
Because I saw the Valentino's, the Tiger claws, The 6th Street Gang, The Voodoo Boys, The Maelstrom, the mixes and the scavengers and none make that characteristics
fair, again i haven't played the game so i'm going off of what people have said
but like
I'd Believe Them knowing cdpr
You shouldn't parrot things just because you hate something. I'M NOT SAYING YOU ARE WRONG OR RIGHT. But check your sources is important
i assume you want me to buy and play the game that treats my gender like a joke to form my own opinion 🤔
Sorry if it comes harshly but I got frustated a bit about people parroting about media they didn't check after someone said The Boys were biphobic
Youtube is free ;)
ah yes, i should only watch the game and expose myself to transphobia that way
i actually don't need to give a fair time of day to things made by objectively bigoted people. if they're proven to be trash in one area i don't feel the need to give them the benefit of the doubt on anything else, astonishingly.
Your call
I didn't know you were LGBT, my apologies
I admit I'm a bit bitter that CP77 has completely derailed this chat at times
Drowning completely conversation of other games
Someone mentions it and people are forced to stop talking about x and began to preach to the choir
To be fair, Albino does have a point
About CP77 derailing this channel?
Ye
i made an offhanded comment and was asked to clarify, i hardly think i'm responsible
Well you didn't start the cyberpunk topic so no, you aren't
Its more of a general thing
In any case, I'm giving that game the silent treatment
Someone starts to talk about it. I'm getting off chat
Life is too short to let a bad Game get the better off me
That's why I stopped playing heartstone 😄
Again. My apologies Stephen. I'm sorry I let my irritation get the better of me
You're right checking sources is important! But also, using all caps can come off as more aggressive than intended 😅
Yeah :/
Also, more people can (and should) care and consider the impact of trans/ homophobia on an audience at large, even if they themselves are not trans or homosexual/ romantic 💜
Passion can get the best of us and communication is an imperfect And impactful aspect of life, which can often be misunderstood and hurt those involved
I agree!
I'm not on here too much (I actually came to mute sub channels 😅) but this has been an interesting conversation! And just makes me want to rewatch Batman Beyond, a truly chef kiss cyberpunk experience 😂
It doesn't help written word you can't always express like you want to
Exactly! And everyone has a different communication style, so affable to one person might mean threatening to another
@eager hamlet by the way I started One Step again from zero
Neat
The game has crushed me. :/
I stop a few months and I feel like a newbie again
Yeah but I have pride xd
I did it the default difficulty once I will do it again
Leader of the Puntheon is one of the best usernames I've ever seen
What is this game?
Its MMBN as a roguelite
MMBN?
Oh megaman
I admit I never played
I never liked MegaMan as a franchise
The aesthetic of it
You know what I mean?
Yeah I see it
Anyways, I also should start Crosscode
Somehow I lost all saves
And if I want to play the epilogue when it comes out
That or find a save online
It can't be that hard
Ok. Opinion on this
You think between UE4 and UE5 will be that big of a difference?
I got the impression from the commentary in the reveal trailer that things may be easier to achieve, rather than achieving a lot more
I really wonder what makes them more money The store, fortnite or the engine
Which sounds good, I suppose, even from my very limited interest in AAA graphics and uses thereof
Bet now in the comment section below
currently Fortnite no doubt
I mean unreal engine is second to Unity on accessibility for middle sized indie studios
Unreal engine without a doubt.
Dead by daylight, Bloodstained, Ashen, ARK, A way out, Hellblade
Fortnite money is big but think of having over 1,000 games pulling in revenue just because they used your engine.
Big titles such as that too.
Keep in mind though, UE ran games only have to pay a profit to Epic if they make over a million dollars.
God, Hellblade II on UE 5 is gonna be GOTY material
there's a Hellblade 2 coming?
Then again, in the same token, DBD, ARK, etc. have made way over a million.
harbor did you manage to snag hades? 👀
I did, my dad bought it for me.
Yes :) there is
that's awesome

I haven't finished the first one yet because my laptop could barely run it and I just gave up lol
put in 6 hours and got 9/14 achievements on lowest settings at 720p
I genuinely wonder where are they going to go after I
now you have epic gamer pc now right? @austere night
no 😔

I'm still on that same laptop
I have a lot of games on my backlog simply because I can't play them
like Dishonored 2 for example, the first game is one of my favorites so I bought the 2nd on the day it came out
But put all 1,300 into my PC.
but I barely get 20fps on all low settings
so it's just been sitting in my library since 2016
I'm saving up for a new PC now though we'll see how that goes
It's funny dishonored 2 narratively speaking is basically dishonored 3
It's hard not to spend money when you have a wad of cash.
Like try to understand the plot of 2 without playing the dlc of 1
I forget, does Death of the Outsider happen after 2 or between 1 and 2
because I haven't played that one either
After iirc
It wasn't as good as the first one dlc, tho
The new gadgets were neat but the level design was lackluster
I wouldn't know 😭
It's still enjoyable tho
And is a nice conclusion to the plot
And is still better than Thief Reboot 😄
Man I wanna build a pc but it seems hard
It's not hard, it's complicated a bit
A lot of what’s tripping me up is cables, I’ve seen vids and know how to put a cpu in and all tha
adult Legos
Do I need a usb drive for windows? Like 8 gigs right?
Don't be afraid the destruction instruction manuals either, they're quite useful
Do most of the parts typically come with a manual or just the mobo?
A usb with the windows installer on it yeah, you can find a download link for it on the windows site, or by searching "windows 10 installer"
Most the things will come with an instruction manual
Yes they will
The mobo will have the thickest one out of the lot
but you don't need it really
or when you meet the amazing case to mobo plugs
Ok its not like legos
Some cases are good and have all the front panal connectors as one connector
And I will physically punch anyone who says that
I’ll probably spend like 6-700 just so I don’t feel as bad if I mess up and break something, as compared to spending 2k on a rig or something, and the mobo manual will tell you where the PSU chords go?
Its not too hard but its a real pain in the ass with just the cables alone
What case should I look for👀 with convenience like that
on high end mobos afaik too
There's a few, the one that comes to mind is the coolermaster nr200 (mini-ITX case)
Is mini itx more complicated than a micro or ATX build? I have a relatively smaller desk, and I already have a PlayStation, switch on the desk
Mini itx would be best for me
Coolermaster is an hilarious name
Micro-ATX is a good middle ground for form factor, expandability and cost
Mini-ITX tends to on the pricey side as it has a more niche consumer base than micro or regular ATX
I'd also recommend to hold off until q1-mid q2 2021
Stock right now is awful
And there's new gpu's from both nvidea and amd projected to come to market
As well as 11th gen intel cpu's
it's mainly because Nvidia may release a bunch of mid tier 3000 series
It's all but confirmed
and also Intel's (finally) 10nm processor
Yeah I’m not a big PC guy but aren’t “budget”cards pretty much next in line for release?
Asus (unintentionally) leaked the existance of the 3080ti and 3060
Yes they're
There's leaks of a 3050 and a 3050ti
and to also make room for the other gpus to be available
due to the insane rarity of gpus
I imagine around April is when stock for a lot of stuff will be stabilizing, PS5, hopefully video cards, etc
However no concrete news on either
(dang, this reminds me of 2017's GPU bitcoin)
And there's the innevitability of a 6700/6700xt
I had like 800 ready to go in may. If I woulda known this would be how the market is I would have pulled the trigger
The pandemic led to a huge portion of people working from home and thus demand skyrocketed but supply hasn't been able to keep up
Partly due to the downturn in production early to mid last year
it was as comparable to the cryptocraze
an RX580 costed as much as a 3080!
Oof
We don't talk about vega
Yeah think this + stock shortage absolutely wrecked market, everyone inside wanting to get into a new hobby, or just upgrade their rig since they are stuck in the house, AND people building pc’s to work from home
Yeah, pretty much
https://www.techspot.com/article/1626-gpu-pricing-q2-2018/
have an amazing look at this one lads
and we revert back to the 2000s era
I wasn't kidding when I said RX580 costed as much as a 3080
with warcraft and RA2 being the hot stuff once more
Also, if y'all haven't watched Gamers Nexus' 2020 dissapointment build video, watch at least the intro
It's well worth
is it the one where ||they make print outs of components and paste the build together||?
The ||componants become paper yes||
Except the monstrous case with all the fans and none of the airflow
cool , something from the PC community to binge on
TIL paying $350 for my RX580 was actually overpriced
Really thought I had a good deal when everything else seemed so expensive lol
was a dark time , indeed
honestly, I am tempted to shell out for a good laptop
and not building my own
buy a new monitor and bam
Going the prebuild route is also there
but the baits
2 monitors with a mobile device
for both laptops and prebuilt

I mean for the games I play, an 2070 with a decent cpu is more than enough to stream and play on the same PC
Need to be incredibly vigilant with who you go with for prebuilds
Or be lucky and have reputable vendors that also do prebuilds
My main computer (an iMac) have an RX570 and runs at 4k!
talk about running games
dw , it's a refurb'd one too
and then out of nowhere, my brother decided that he wants a prebuilt , which had a 9400F and a 1650
gotta say, his are way faster than mine (which was used for stuff other than gaming ofc)
That sounds like an origin prebuild tbh
It sounds like it, but it isn't
If anything, running my favs at mid-high and 60fps is enough for me
Ahh so not exorbandantly expensive shipped in a crate with a visa card and shirt
give or take 1k$ + a normal IPS display
That's not too bad
Ngl, building your own computer sounds like a headache personally
It's definitely not for everyone
dude's using it for GTARP stuff
Like I'm at loss completely on how to start
normal RP stuff
There's plenty of guides out there
LTT, Jays2cents and bitwit all have great guides and try to simplify things to makenit easy to understand
I looove watching LTT PC guides (especially the ones in the old kitchen room)
the RGB build is too iconic
no, and now i'm interested
tsskkkk
I don't like PC challenges (I didn't watch scrappy wars that much, either)
I like LTT branching out their different channels tho
Short circuit and Techlinked is always my first vids to watch
I haven't watched the scrap wars stuff either
Yeah, I like them branching out too, the seperate channels is a good idea for them too as the youtube algorithm will then suggest more LTT content
LTT's main channel kinda getting a bit stale imo, but once Anthony comes up I instantly watch
I want Anthony to read me the hades patch notes
That's fair, there's only so much you can really do with lockdowns and pandemics etc
Anthony is awesome, definitely would like to see him host more
especially the vids where it's related to Mac/Apple
Ngl, I kinda want the big cpu pillow
For sure watching anthony nerd out is always great
I. want. it
Anthony can mumble about how cpu works and I still pay attention ngl
Same. I kinda feel the same about buildzoid and his rambles about pretty much anything mobo or memory related 😂
Or anything really, his pcb anaylsis videos are always super in depth where possible
I love watching their compensators builds
when anthony did his MacOS virtualization, it kinda reminded me of the "x cpu x gamers" videos
i need an i9 and 3080 to play my graphically intensive roguelites
at this point just play DOOM Eternal at ultra nightmare
All you need is an etch a sketch for that
It's a joke on how doomy turtle runs of pretty much anything
frames per year and you feel the demons' voices from your computer
the fans start sound like Pinky
How long are both new Dooms?
doom '16 prob around 16hours ish
and I'm still lazy finishing Eternal
Mainly because it takes everything that made '16 good and said "hey, I'm doing it even better"
and just took the bad stuff (like the platforming) and made it kinda better
and also the main menu theme is way badass-ier
eternal took me around 30-ish hours without hunting for secrets, 2016 is slightly shorter than that
that's on only one playthrough though, its definitely a game worth replaying
Lol, It's kinda funny a FPS is longer than some RPGs
sometimes i wonder, can a game be measured in hours
what's more important, the time spent or the impressions taken.. some games can be finished in under 10 hours and leave you in catharsis of sort, and others can take hundreds, even thousands of hour, but bring less knowledge or impression
but still lots of fun, thousands of hours of fun, hate, frustration and fun again
while there are still short games that are full of nothing, just some realistic picture and that's it..
and they cost like, 4 times more than a long game you enjoy
prices are formed based on effort that has been put in the game, but if there are hundreds of people put a bit of effort, it will still cost a lot
A game has to last just right
Not being needlessly padded or short in content
Alien Isolation took me 19 hours and needed some cutting
As it has tons of fillers
true
200 hours is a strange number, yes.. on the one hand, it's too long for story-based game, even metroidvania, but too short for open-world sandbox, something minecraftish
I was saying a exaggerated number lol
i've played Hollow Knight for about that time, 150 hours or so, but it can be finished in under 8
Was thinking more on a Ubisoft-Like open world with tons of useless chaff to do
yeah, mandatory overextending is a problem of games..
maybe always was, since arcade times
bc, the longer you play, the more often you die, the more you pay for continue
and even today the length of the game is the measurment of its quality
which is.. i guess, why it's not good
It's a measurement tho
Like I understand people who were salty about The Order 1886
I think I'm the first person in years that mentions that game lmao
i was just about to mention it lol
game length can be used part of someones buying metric of "hey I like typically like games who's story lasts x amount of hours" but it's by no means a measure of quality
Shoutout to the official guide having to pad the length by showing each QTE one-by-one
also, time spent in the game with pleasure shouldn't be confused with time to beat the game™️
Plus photo
oh goodness
Sorry it was too funny I remembered years later lmao
back in the days of QTE all the things
I remember with that cancelled SW game that they bragged of innovative QTE system or something like that
I mean honestly, I prefer long games in general
You get more money's worth
But at the same time, my favourite games of all time are mostly fairly short
I prefer long games by virtue of liking RPGs
But I also enhoy in the shorter side
12 hours is optimal for me
It also depends of if I'm liking the story
I tend to enjoy games on the shorter side more
Crosscode is one of my favourite games ever because I had dozens of hours to grow fond of the cast
yeah, definitely depends on that for me as well
And was genuinely sad to finish the game
It also depends of the replayability
I finished DE three times already
I've been looking at crosscode for a good while considering buying it, however my yes much backlog is still there
Buy it anyway
Do it
Also it depends on the genre
A visual novel better be good to last 30 hours
I'd rather buy it when I know I'm gonna play it for certain, otherwise it will gather digital dust 😛
Th Zero Escape guy and the Ace Attorney games are some of the few who can make me spend 30 hours in a VN
And theyre not always great games like Crosscode
Zero Escape counts Somnium
Tbh, Im not sure either are really Visual Novels
the Zero escape games appeal to me purely because of the escape room aspect to them
huh.. to think of it, 13 hours is a pretty standard time of 1 full season of 30-minutes long series
breaks up the narrative really well
You might like Somnium Files too then
-Eternal Radiance.
-Grand Guilds.
-Aria Chronicle
-Ring Runner
-Omni Link
Its a bit of a different take on Escape Rooms, but that idea is still there
My backlog is uh
I have to finish these 5 games before March
Hoo boy
I have my backlog tiered
Lets see, Valkyria Chronicles 1 and 4, Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2 and Yakuza 0
AC Syndicate
I select 10 games give or take and I finish them
The batman games
A bunch of games I got for free off of epic
Im hoping to finish Shining Resonance and one more JRPG before February
So far Shining Resonance Refrain seems perfectly average
i'm still looking for some good otome novels for my friend
There was this horrible (For me) JRPG I just gave up on
And I finished Resonance of Fate
Nights of Azure 2
she is sad that there are many VNs with male protagonist, but very few told from the female perspective.. even less translated at least in English
There was this game that got me interested because the opening was unintentionally hilarious
With the narrator making an unironic imitation of Dan Lafontaine
Imagine an Anime weeb game narrated by the narrator guy unironically

oh goodness
Reccomend her Synergia then
At least to take a look on Steam
There was one my gf liked
yep, saw it while searching for a gift
unfortunately, my friend is straight.. so..
that's also was her biggest issue with the CP77, where the romance options for straight women are very limited
oh, i don't mean to start another round of CP77 discussion
I do not like the company that made dragon star varnir
Does Whisper of a Machine count? It's point and click but the protagonist is a straight woman
Oh damn
The Hyperdimesion guys
I swear I didn't know lmao
Hatoful Boyfriend?
I found it cute and funny when I played it back in the day
Probably too much of a meme
Tbh straight romance aimed at women gets completely shafted VN-wise ngl
it is popular, but just locally in Japan, alas
very few good examplars get english translation, not to mention our language, and even that is fan effort mostly
actually, may take a look at that, thanks
I know is not Otome
But I thought she may have been interested in aplot based game with a straigh female MC
Memoria, Forgotton Anne and Dreamfall and Its sequel are good too
oh, she liked the soundtrack of Forgotton Anne a lot
Memoria has a man and a woman on separated but connected but the woman plot is just sogood
Forgotton*
😆
No worries
Oh Dex is cool
It's also very well done Cyberpunk world
It's half action tho
i've played Dex myself, actually, back in.. 2016 or 17
Yeah same
surprisingly well done cyberpunk atmosphere
Damn, I'm an idiot
Reccomend her Haven. It's all about a relationship and she can play the woman basically 100% of the time
How could I forget the game I have as a pfp?
oh, it even has been translated in our language
Dex is even 2 euros as of now
great pick, thanks a lot
oh.. don't really think about WRoEF, i'm afraid it can be bad for her.. she suffers from depression atm
Oh nevermind then
even got me back then, and i'm not easily impressed
still a remarkable game nevertheless, just not our choice
the game industry needs more good endings, desperately
protagonist getting killed or forced to make fateful decisions, mostly tragic, is pretty much a default now
unless devs are planning a sequel
which ends up like mentioned still
Hellblade I as a good ending as it gets
||(glances towards Ori)||
well, pretty much, yes, but in Hellblade the beginning of the story defines the rest of it.. so, if the rest of the story would've been taken away, the ending would be pretty sad
wonder what will happen in the sequel though
The weird thing is that the game doesn't need a sequel
She has come to ||Terms with her illness|| we know there is no magic in Hellblade
judging by the teasers, the whole theme of the game will be quite different from the first part.. no idea what they got to show us
I fell bad for Senua tho
ALthough she said to the narrator new adventures were coming
Tbh, almost all the games I'm thinking with happy endings are mostly multiple choice
well, if a good ending is at least an option, it's still good
maybe even better than one single good ending
like Metro 2033
Well, Dreamfall chapters ends in quite a happy note with a single ending now I remember
@stuck bear The game was really cool, but the story was barely on average
Story was pretty straight forward yeah
in terms of a technical showcase
It was more how they told it than what it was
I've heard a lot of people saying that the characters feel a bit shoehorned into the story
with no proper introduction to them
(thats people's saying , not mine)
Dunno. Didnt seem like it to me. Was very movie-like for a video game
^
too movie like to make Dark souls a true video game
Pure gameplay wise there are def better but I think most people loved it as an interactive movie type experience
^
Even on grounded mode, it still feels very cinematic
I think Nakeyjakey's video kinda sums up with the problem with the two big AAA studios (Rockstar and Naughty Dog)
you either have too big open world, or too linear
But since it's "easy" to follow the story, people won't mind and will just get amazed with touching story etc.
don't get me wrong, I love linear games but TLOU2 went in with balls of steel when they did the thing with big J
Straight up. Thought it was great but I knew people were gonna be pissed
Really, I won't criticize Tlou 2 too much (because I didn't play it, and it's not my type of game) , but I can't help but think it got popular because it's a sequel of a well loved game, with little gameplay and sad story and sad stuff happening to nice people.
If I'm correct, Joel started becoming more cynical at the end of TLOU
it really is, but take a loved character and you get yourself a mob
Kinda like what happened with DMC
(not exactly 100% similar , but you get the point)
I think the second one was actually better than the first
In almost every category
and I loved the first
but when you get yourself nearly winning every major award, you kinda start sus (im sorry for using that) the judges
nothing wrong with the word sus
yup. lots of times, judges just vote for whats popular
I'm no mob , but I kinda see this year had a lot of amazing titles outside of TLOU2
Yeah
doom eternal was really amazing, ID really outdone themselves
Mick gordon and Darren korb should collab together and release the best soundtrack of the whole universe
Toby Fox and Darren Korb collab so the indie fans get a collective stroke xd
that's exactly what I was thinking with the "disney animated movie wins animated movie oscar" comment. heck, I once read an article where folks voting ADMITED to not even watching any movie and just voting disney because disney
90% of youtube montages are Toby fox's OSTs , why not
which is kinda sad, you're excited for all these awards, thinking the judges will actually put weight into their decisions and then... meh
Still funny Shrek actually won the first Oscar, tho. Instead of Pixar
the fact that Hades came second in everything makes my mind blown forever
TLOU2 amazing but it makes the awards kinda meaningless cuz popularity contest
I’m glad Hades at least came in second though
shrek came in guns blazing and just snatched the oscar from under disney+pixar's noses xD
It’s definitely my game of the year (Hades, not TLOU2 even though I loved it)
same! I'm very happy for that at least
btw, would anyone like to help me decide between getting Ooblets or Airborne Kingdom? I usually don't play city building simulators, but I was intrigued with AK for the fact that is has a story to go through. however, ooblets seems also super cute and fun and reminds me of Slime Rancher in the aesthetic, etc. I can only get one, so I've been delaying the decision xD

I ended up going for ooblets
ah yes, let a two year old title be an 2020 GOTY award
Just like Among us' best mobile game
(and yes, ik the pc version was released alongside the console versions, but still)
regardless, Hades is my GOTY and doom eternal comes in next
mainly because I only exit hades when I need to do something or play another game w/the lads , or kinda too lazy to play games in general
but when I exit from DOOM Eternal I know I was exhausted from that amount of mashing buttons and dashing
I feel like it deserves to be, because the rise of the game itself was in mid 2020 (Kinda like how tiktok's rise was in late 2017-mid 2018)
C3T0 Friend
RDR2
the redemption something something game? huh, thought it was from 2020 considering I only heard of it this last year (ah yes, those early days of a new year, when time is even more confusing)
2020 doesn't end til january 21st tbh
What happens on January 21?
Isn't the pc port of this year?
we learn if the giant orange space slug comes out of his hole or if we get 4 more years of trump
Or at least after the latest steam awards
The inauguration is on the twentieth, I believe, not the twenty-first.
At least in American time-zones.
i'm allowing time for the dust to settle
Also the 20th comes Hitman 3
Important note
I really wonder where the plot is gonna go as ||You kill two of the main villains in the first mission||
it IS, however, the plot of Amber Skies
luckily, AI wars will be prob pretty quick, and cause lots of data centers overcharge at worst
imagine however, people long gone, and only AIs remains, and some of them worship human as the god and creator
which is the plot of Primordia
Or humanity dying out and AIs basically treating what's left behind the same way we do the ruins of any ancient civilization
or AIs creating an improved way of dealing with different religions, like, making a schedule for prayers in one single church of all of them
while humanity never existed, and AIs actually created their own being and their civilization themselves out of scrap thrown away in some deserted planet
Hi, Mii expert here. Turns out, the NPCs in TLoZ:BotW use an advanced version of the Mii format. This means that with modding, you can inject Miis into the game. :)
Thinking about opening commissions for Mii injects, both screenshot/images of your Mii and mod downloads!

Apparently Youtube does things
me when one of my daughters forgot to flush the toilet and I'm extremely british
I really want to change it to Disgoosting but i'm too lazy to even open PS and remove the letters
regardless, this is hilarious
Miilians
I really wish you could preview dlc characters without buying them in FighterZ
I got A17 because he looked fun and is one of the only 3 good characters in Super
He is uh
Hard
if anybnuuy's into speedruns: just cause 3 and sonic mania are the must-watch runs of gdq so far
I'm not really into speedruns, but I've played enough of these two that I forgot to keep track of them
Hi everyone, thinking about getting CrossCode. Anyone has good/bad opinions about it?
Hi guys I been playing chaos child today with the steam patch that fixed and improved game
@storm aurora oh crosscode it a very fun open world game.
I currently playing the Ys series. Played Ys 1, 2 and Origins up until now. So I'm thinking about "Modern Ys".
P. S crosscode is a long game
Long game? How many hours? Grindy long, or fun long?
75hours
If you want to complete all the challenges
As for the main story it 31hours
Over it a fun game that have anime style character design
@eager hamlet Someone asked if Crosscode was good.
Its very good
@storm aurora One of the best RPGs I've ever played
Its about 40 hours, not grindy unless you want to go 100% completion
Is it Bastion-y?
nope
Something is the vibes reminds me Chrono Trigger, Ys, and other good classics.
Its a lot like a modern version of old Ys, but with a lot more depth
In terms of both exploration and combat
Yup
Have fun. In the meantime I will be playing chaos child visual novel, stardew valley, victor vran, and more games that I have on my pc that I have not finished playing yet
It a good ost
How about this one https://youtu.be/yBZPfA9PaF0

True story. As I mentioned I just finished playing Ys 1+2 (Chronicles) and was blown by the guitar-oriented music. Amazing. I currently playing Ys Origin - so far there's less Guitars in the mix.
I admit I havent played Ys 1 or 2
Ys1/2 are bit more old school with the Bump system, but they are pretty good.
Is there any speedrun you are waiting for?
Maxylobes' F.E.A.R and PeekingBoo's Celeste c-sides dance pad%
oh and Punchy's SH3 run
3 weapons race RTA
It's a 3 weapon run yes
will be incredible to see if the goal gets met
It will
There has to be a gdq where the Bonus game WASN'T unlocked
People always prioritize to donate to those
For obvious reasons lol
more games are always great
THIS TBH
Also every GDQ has a Metroid block no?
there's usually 1 metroid game at least
Literally the longest tradition of GDQ. Kill or Spare the animals
always save
always save the frames, definitely best choice
Aggy, you are not the same LilAggy who is doing Mortal Shell speedrun right?
Or are you?
tbh i wish sonic 06 could become a mainstay of gdq
that game is messed up in just the right ways to guarantee a run is always bonkers
Except it lacks auto-saves. That's literally criminal.
that's not an issue in speedruns
Oh you were saying in a speedrunning context
does anyone here own clustertruck? there's an achievement for that game where you have to beat your friend's best time on a level, but none of my friends own it
cant wait
👀
I'm sad because there was a supposed leak of games on sale on the Epic Store and Monster Hunter World was on there but the leak was fake

Ton of really good games was on the list
Looking back, they were too good to be true
