why are there so many fe charas in smash??
like it can't even be popularity of series b/c if it was then there'd be at least 20 dragon quest characters
its because there are so many installations of the games
like imagine if pyre, bastion, transistor and hades all existed under the same title
they're all separate and unrelated
cyberpunks got me thinking, anybody else got a favorite sci-fi game?
I really enjoyed the setting and would be down to check out more, been debating giving deus ex human revolution a better shot
Mass Effect Trilogy
Starcraft II Trilogy
I think they're remastering all those soon, yeah?
yeah they are. and a new one coming, also
or at least so I heard
cyber reminded me why I usually wait on games lol.
Liked it don't get me wrong, but with more time in the oven it'd be sooo much better
yeah. I own like about 200 games but I have never paid full price
just wait for it to go on sale. cheaper and more stable
humble bundle, ps+, free epic and twitch games have made me backlog a major problem
also been debating playing fallout new vegas
I'm at that "between games" area atm
now as i think of it, most sci-fi games i like are not in the best state to play.. except Mass Effect, probably
which you may tell from the nickname
thankfully transistor was
never heard bad opinions about deus ex performance
most complaints were towards gameplay or story
and very subjective
there's really not a lot in that setting with deeper stories is there huh?
I guess bioshock technically counts?
but not really the aesthetic I was looking for
idk, can dieselpunk technically be a sci-fi?
guess, it doesn't have magic or something, so more like yes
fallout series as well
i've heard not much about grim fandango, and it was described as best game ever
never got to try myself though
a lot of people describe their favorite game as the best game ever though to be fair
yeah, and that's the case here
adventure games are hit or miss for me
the puzzles usually make me wanna stop
since the solutions are usually....not very obvious
glares at sam and max games
I like puzzles in stuff like Portal 2
that'd be what I'd throw out as one of my favorites in general
yeah, Portal is basically one of the most significant puzzle series there
both, but spent more in 2
there were 2 games in my life, when i played them, i literally felt as new neurons grow inside my brain
Portal and Fez
and seems like, Baba is You would be the third one, but still in backlog
baba is you is _ so_ good
I can recommend the Deus Ex games, yeah
if you like puzzles check out the witness too
Probably the closest in style since theyre also cyberpunk shooters
Outside of that, uh
yeah that's whats drew me in
both are cyberpunky
except ones had a bit more time in the oven
And are arguably more cyberpunk in terms of actual narrative
hm.. i can also think about Cloudpunk, if something more story-oriented is okay.. somehow it has certain atmosphere in it
Invisible Inc is cyberpunk, but its visually different, and its more of an RNG-less XCOM game
rngless xcom? considering rng made me stop playing xcom that sounds worth checking out eventually
deus ex and ghost of tsushima pretty much shot back to the top of my list sounds like, mass effect I wanna play more of but with a remaster around the corner will probably wait
I loved mass effect 2 though
so good
I think I actually might like me2 better than cyberpunk ๐ค
Yeah, basically
In Invisible Inc your shot either always hits ,or never hits
In exchange ammo is a lot more limited
You mostly try to sneak around instead
honestly, i'm not sure with the remaster.. since all the devs of original parts are left Bioware now, the chance there will be unwanted changes is pretty high
from missed details to blatant retconning, bc new part
people mod to hell on highwater on pc anywho
ME 2 and 3 are still looking pretty good
1st one is not so much, but has a unique style, many people missed since then
Adventure games basically killed themselves in the 90's with all those nonsensical puzzles but they got a brief resurrection in the 2010-2015
And with resurrection I mean Telltale and Daedalic
Horizon Zero Dawn
Prey
Nier Otamatone boy 2017 sure was good for scifi huh
Endless Space 2
nier was rad
ah, yes, Prey 2017 is great
In terms of general sci fi games
2017 already?
Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
Damn
dam, it was so easily forgotten
oh man revengance was also great
god
prey I was so bad at
revengeance is so bonkers i forget it has like. a genre.
don't get me wrong ima play more eventually
but I was so bad at getting around those one guys that kill you super easily
That game is almost a decade old and it still holds on
revengance is 10 years old?
More good sci fi games there is Dead Space
almost 10..
7.5 years
...Obduction for some cool puzzles in a sci-fi setting?
oh god
apparently I'm old lol
Yeah Revengeance is old as hell
SCRATCH ALL THOSE
But good lord has it aged well
OUTER WILDS
MGS introduced normie me to Depeche Mode lmao
Wait, which MGS game had Depeche Mode?
Outer Wilds I've heard good things
it's better than you've heard
Crosscode too is sci-fi if you think about it
i'm looking a bit more cybery if that makes sense
EVE divine cybermancy
then i think Prey and Mass Effect are the top of my recs
Shadowrun Returns and Sequels too
There were free on epic also
So you probably have them
https://imgur.com/0AbJBdI
Real g*mer review here
Crosscode is sci-fi, yeah
or dude was just too fast to experience it all and come to conclusion
since likes to go fast
remember me is a pretty cool sci fi game, i recommend
Oh right
absolutely yes
It's pretty good CP game too
Shame the combat gets reperitive
And the Dream sequence is criminally underused
not a usual cyberpunk, but still in many ways
Sci-Fi can appear literally in any genre
As I reccomemnded a few months ago
If you want a sci-fi Point and click adventure play Whispers of a machine
you can even find sci-fi bits in TES, if look hard enough
i liked Observation a lot, that's p solidly scifi
and it was a surprise that Heroes of Might and Magic was actually a sci-fi
Oh god, I remember remember me
success!
oh goodness.. Soma is so great
Cool idea
So Is Alien Isolation
But it was just above mediocre in execution
Also State of Mind
Shame it never got a sequel where they could learn from the mistakes
They got bank from LiS so I don't see them changing genres anytime soon
It's funny because Max Caufield and the MC of Remember Me kinda look like sisters
every day i remember this article https://www.gamespot.com/articles/remember-me-2-already-has-story-capcom-just-needs-/1100-6425839/
March 10, 2015 at 4:01PM PDT
:c
capcom.... its not too late....
Problem is its a risk, especially this many years later
actually it doesn't sound that bad
It's basically asking to flop in a war
That game if it wasn't for the gameplay I've seen I would have say it's vaporware lol
also, don't get me wrong
but 2010s felt like a pretty short decade
most of the time nothing significant was happening
and main releases can be fit in 5 or 7 years
2010-2014 was a super different time from 2015-2019
in many many ways
BG&E2 is gonna come out 6 months after elden ring
Oh, about the same time as Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 then
Yeah but does it come out before Silksong and Dead Island 2?
well, sakurai is canceled https://twitter.com/Nibellion/status/1339692413074501632
For any interested parties

I just opened twitter and the two first messages I see are about geno
He's a mii fighter, isn't he?
One day Tryndamere woke up and decided to let his IP get developed by anyone who asked for it
They are going full Warhammer
This one seems to be in-house actually
But yeah, since I know some people here like the universe/characters but dont like league
Figured Id post it
Pretty stoked for Cyberpunk 2077: A Realm Reborn
134
this real?
not a good look for cd project
it's what jason is joking about, so yes
I didn't click the link my b
oh yeah they'll have to relist it lol
was it just sony?
or is it off xbox too?
so in all seriousness, why wasn't fallout 76 pulled?
because that was about as bad
*not excusing either for the record
I wonder if they might do this more going forward
๐ค
off the top of my head? fo76 didn't induce seizures quite so uh. intentionally.
yeah the lights were uncomfortable for me
I can only imagine for people it actually affected
I just kinda looked away every time, not sure why any game feels the need to do that
or like at least make it a toggle
FO76 didnt work as poorly as CP2077 on PS4
idk man, F076 was really bad

I guess the framerate was better for Fallout
but it was definitely helllla buggy
i think cyberjunk is just straight up not at all optimized for anything less powerful than a ps4pro, so it runs worse, but it has fewer incredibly gamebreaking bugs (seizure sequence notwithstanding)
ah dang didn't think that'd be flagged
aw man now I can't post the screengrab
I think Joseph will probably put out a great vid on cyberpunk too I'm guessing
and yeah I'm not even gonna attempt to defend the seizure thing
it's.....not cd projects first rodeo
heck they could have put the game out in chunks
look what final fantasy vii remake did
I'd rather have a polished smaller section than a large broken mess
I am laughing my buns to the bank, this is hilarious
Joseph Anderson is literally the most two-faced youtuber I've ever seen (In a good way)
The tone of his videos and the tone of his streams are two completely different worlds
Also this video of him is pure distilled FO76
||The Gnomes are the Key||
I might have to check out his streams because this is hilarious
Yeah, he went full weeb on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and didn't look back
There was a Stream where the game creators were trolling him
BY INJECTING MEMES INTO HIS GAME SESSION!

cyberpunk got removed from ps store??? i didnt see it. i was just about to buy it
wow what happened suddenly?
Refund proble, I dunno
wow.. people really crap on cyberpunk till it reaches PS
I mean
It's more CDPR asked people to ask for a refund without consulting Sony
They're not going to leave up a product like that
can i ask you something... dont you feel kinda sorry for CDPR?
Not at all
For the company, at least
I feel bad for the workers who got crunched for months for this
same hat
yes. the staff. because im a game designer too. I know how hard it is for them to pull that out
oh really? haha why?
witcher 3 is awesome
I haven't played a game from them I've ended up enjoying, and I don't like their attitude, practices, or abuse of good will as Reddit's Golden Child Who Does No Wrong
I genuinely feel more bad for the people who were so excited for 2077 and ended up with this mess
*Some subsection of reddit.
Because we've all been there and it sucks
Reddit, like Discord is made of thousands of disparate communities
actually, other companies also released bad products, also made their employees crunch, also had many social media problems, but eventually almost all of them get forgiven
CDPR is now judged as harshly as possible
Something something, the taller they are the harder they fall
And it's a shame they get away with it scott free, I agree
weren't there other companies that have also been judged for crunch? like naughty doggie?
really? oh. because people told me that trustworthy and best game companies are: naughtydog, supergiant games, rockstar and CDPR. i guess CDPR is now... well... byebye
rockstar is also notorious for crunch
WHAT? really? damn
Yes? That was a whole big issue leading up to RDR2
rockstar made cwunch alluring
rockstar always was loved
and still is
despite their flaws when it comes to working with consumers, poor tech support, etc
Also there are dozens of middle sized indie studios without crunch
"oh, you got banned bc cheaters? just buy another copy lol"
Kinda strange, maybe someone should hold them accountable for their actions
I do not have feelings for giant corporations
^^^
CDPR was famous before with their customer-friendly way of putting things to market, free addons, huge DLCs, DRM-free store, etc.. even now they try to keep their faces with all that refund stuff and paying devs all the bonus payments they were promised for high ratings of the game, despite its state
To be honest this channel has become quite circlejerky this last two weeks. Someone namedrops CP77 and the same conversation happens again in repeat.
It gets tiring
But why were the bonuses tied to high Metacritic score in the first place?
No offense
I know crunch is bad guys. You are preaching to the choir at this point
Because bad new things keep happening surrounding it
every time someone brings up cp77 I think ๐คจ does anyone else have anything interesting to say?
im really sorry ๐ฆ i didnt know that
the reason the game runs badly is because ppl r playing it 57 years early
I just decided no more engaging in CP77 I'm just not interested anymore and I have more games to play/discuss
at this point most people who now accuse direction in all the mortal sins and gloat over the victims' failiure, are either prejudged, or were expecting too much, and now changed side
i was just asking because i feel sorry for the game dev but ok no more
i feel sorry for the devs
Now it's all about rockstar
and disappointed in direction
that's fair. I personally enjoy looking up indie games, their studios, and how they operate
but still want to give them a chance
Bad direction has killed games companies before
Telltale being the most important recent example
i miss Maxis
oh ya.. what ever happend to them? they went silent LOL
went out of business
Bankruptcy
They got bought out
Heavily mismanaged
in 2018
In fact they confirmed only TWO games made profit
Spent a lot of money on licensing fees
The walking dead s1 and minecraft s1
i know walking dead makes them good revenue
deadass?
What truly killed them is the engine
not bad but not profitable
They were overzealous on using a bad engine instead of Unity
Tales from the Borderlands is also great
treasure planet was a huge flop financially but it's my favorite disney movie
ToTB is also the most important of thrm
But they didn't sell enough to make back licensing fees for the properties they used, evidently
As it's 100% canon and integrated into the plot
BttF:tG is also not bad
I'm using Unity as my game dev hahaha
oh. so there is where it starts
they should have used their own game
Yeah their engine was clunky and you needed that each employee trained a lot to use it. Plus they expanded too much and hired too many people
Unity is not only easier to use but if you can hire programmers that already know how to use it
all this, i really hope pokemon wont spiral downwards too
true
I don't know what to tell you, it kinda already is
i still remember unity as "3D alternative to Flash"
oh cmon man... ๐ฆ.
last time pokemon was Good was gen 5
If pokemon company goes out of business then the economic crisis has reached Neptune
gen 7 was pretty enjoyable ngl
Pokemon really started resting on their laurels
yeah exactly
Which says nothing to profit because they always sell gangbusters
Pokemon makes a metric tonne from merchandising
The last one I enjoyed apart from the ORAS remake was black and white 2
same 4 pokemon plushes
The new games have some incredible ideas but they're bogged down in mediocre everything else
Like Wild Areas
And with metric tonne you mean THE MOST PROFITABLE IP ON MANKIND HISTORY
no.... but if there's ever a day where pokemon plummeted, the news will be soo big it reaches the ozone layer
I would be shocked if it ever did
This is a list of the highest-grossing media franchises. This includes media franchises that started as a book, film, video game, comic book, animated film or television series and have expanded to other forms of media.

Yep, precisely
How the heck is hello kitty second and winnie the pooh third?
Hello kitty????? is 2nd??? what?
im shocked that is still relevant
Ok. WTH is Anpanman?
that's my other question i wanna ask hahaha
i never even heard of it
wow i need to watch the news more often
well, in some countries many generations can be raised with movies, books and shows noone else in the world knows about
It's funny tho, the games quality may have lowered but I think the anime quality has just gone up
you will be surprised, if you would check out the list of most popular animes in Japan itself
i was scrolling down the list, I didnt see sonic ๐ฆ this hurts
TPC plays so safe it hurts as it wants pokemon to be accessible to everyone
I remember how they screwed up group exp making you over leveled without trying
Talking about exp
I just finished an RPG with the weirdest leveling but actually understandable xp system I've played
Your characters start at level 40 and the level cap is..... 50
what
It's a sequel so the characters start stronger than the first game level cap
I suppose
Of course it makes hilarious situations how a common thief in the first level dealing as much damage as the first game final boss
well, situations like that are common for rpgs
What game?
Celestian Tales
ooh
Well, coffee talk is also indonesian but that game is kinda niche
i've heard mixed things abt coffee talk
Indie barista protagonist is basically a subgenre at this point
But yeah Valhalla and red string club are better

ChainChompBraden went live on Twitch. Catch up on their Super Mario Maker VOD now.
dem lads pushing thru
Because most people in the world lives in Asia where those things are incredibly popular.
I liked it more than 5 tbh
The characters are less memorable but the plot is much better
My opinion tho
I'v been playing P4 recently, and I've been having a heck of a good time.
The dungeons and boss fights can be a little frustrating, but the overall gameplay loop is brilliant.
Persona 4 is quite good
Probably the overall best in the series?
5 has a messy plot towards the second half
P4 was fantastic
yeah p4 is really good
wow i just do some lil digging
p4 was a PS2 game actually
that means p5
came a long way
wait im not sure if you guys meant the p4 that i meant
im talking about the p4 golden
not the fighting one
oh yeah, assumed you meant P4 Golden. I assume a lot of the others that shared similar favorable sentiment were also on the same page.
yeah golden is the version on steam and is a direct upgrade in all ways
Yeah lol
I've heard good things
but I still need to play p5 royale anywho
I waited and just got royale instead of vanilla
anyone here played dead cells? I am thinking of picking it up but I am afraid I won't enjoy it as much as Hades
Dead cells is pretty fantastic. It's really fast paced and challenging and got quite a bit of platforming thrown in.
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/561599088039034901/789520495430991872/Eph9DLDWMAED82x.png i think this is the real epic games list ngl
My opinion would be if you like rogue-likes, youโll like Dead Cells. If you donโt like rogue-likes but you like Hades, you wonโt like Dead Cells. Thatโs my two cents anyway
thanks. I'll check it out. Hopefully Hades will dish out more content in future. Really love the game!
it would be cool if inside were on it but otherwise it is a less intriguing list than the one posted prior
wait nvm i did more research half these games arent on the epic games store ๐
I doubt we'll know the list
and considering the last one was wrong I wouldn't be surprised if this one was
fwiw they have given the same game out multiple times
and yeah hades was rad!
100%'d that bad boi
for anyone interested in oddworld, here's some good background: https://youtu.be/Y7f0YtzWBG4
When Lorne Lanning first conceived of what would become Oddworld, he wasn't necessarily setting out to make video games. What he needed to do was tell a story. On this episode of War Stories, we hear from the co-founder of Oddworld Inhabitants and learn all the ups and downs of Abe's journey to the screen over the past 22 years, including what c...
the hint for tmr is an "axe" so it might be the long dark, per that list - only problem is that the long dark isnt on epic games store but apparently epic games have added the free games the day of so ๐คท
Honestly That's just better for us
Imagine buying a game on sale only to become free three days later.
I want to start to play Elite
But I fear if I do I won't stop
Night in the Woods is easily one of my favorite games
Since I saw it up there on that list
Bloodstained or Katana Zero? Both on my wish-list and not sure which one to pick first.
I only played bloodstained
what platform?
i played both and tbh i'd say it's a coin flip
idk if bloodstained on switch got fixed yet
if you want a very faithful love letter to castlevania bloodstained is your game
katana zero is more novel, bloodstained is basically just symphony again but shiny
Oh, I'm good on that. PC.
Metroidvania is a gene I play very often, and it's a very crowded genre.
Bloodstained feels a bit too classic?
i'd put bloodstained below hollow knight, but not far
hollow knights so good man
love me some hollow knight
kitana zeros soundtrack is a banger
never played it but it's on my wishlist as well
Hallow Knight is great. I actually own most of the classic Castlevania games. And while I grew on them, I'm not sure they hold this days with games like Hallow, Ori, The Mesenger, Iconclats etc.
So if Bloodstained is classic Castlevania with new graphic. Maybe I'll go with something different as Katana zero.
yeah bloodstained doesn't really bring anything new to the table, just the best of the old

Why isnโt outer wilds on switch

cuz switch can't run a ton
But doom eternal is on switch
yeah and how well does it run?
also doesn't run well
But I just wanna play it
Sure XD
That game is a aexcetion to something
It just feels like something that would fit on switch, idk
what game
Outer Wilds
Every year since the end of the crowdfunding it was supposed to be the release date, only to be pushed back another year and then another....... before finally releasing in late May of 2019, after over 7 years of development.
it's almost like pushing back a game until it's ready is a good idea
glares at cd project
Also if you see the pre-alpha footage is pretty wtf
The frigging ||Anglerfish could follow you outside Bramble||
I'm surprised that some people on the Internet are surprised that the launch turns into a fiesta.
Massive hype around a triple A game with 8 millions pre-orders while the studio showing signs of crunching and various delays?
What can go wrong?
Almost like we have seen this before...
yee
is that at the bottom of the 100 floor dungeon? i never managed to get further than like low 70s
Oh no
Its the superboss in Insomnia
The issue with it is that it takes forever to kill
Its a huge damage sponge
longer than adamantoise?
You can cheese adamantoise with the ring
But probably not
Thing is Omega, ontop of taking forever, can also easily kill you
I don't think I ever encountered Omega!
I saw Omega Weapon once and quickly died/gtfoโd xD
It got added later
Has anyone here ever played a Final Fantasy game
It's just a question
I've played most of the main series ones since I on GBA! ๐
I forgot it was added in The Royal Edition, but never got that far in my NG+!
just seems weird to ask that literally immediately after a convo about ff15
Fair
i have not but im planning to watch vinny's playlist once he's done
I played the FF 7 PS1 demo and the intro of FF 6 on Steam.
My favorites are II, III, IV, V, XIII (unironically), and XV. I also really like X and XII.
6 is one of my favs of the series
9's my top fav, its the one game thats left the most impact on me through the years u__u
played some of not finished all numbered FF games between VI and XV, apart from XI, havenโt tried that yet^^
14's my favorite game period these days
7r finally helped me see what everyone else saw in 7c
FFVIIR is just ... to die for good
some incredible performances for sure
What do you think of Sephiroth
I ask because he just got added to Smash Bros
i'm especially delighted by barrett's VA being an old school 7c superfan
7r sephiroth's voice direction is Excessively Horny
The writers do a very cool trick with Sephiroth to make you fear him
that's really all i think about sephiroth
You are told throughout the game that Sephiroth is this evil crazy monster
But when you actually see him... he seems like an OK guy at first
And that throws you for a loop, because it subverts your expectations
I've only ever played FFX and FF Tactics
it gets even more interesting when youโve played Crisis Core^^
tactics is the best final fantasy
They should take Final Fantasy Tactics and make an original property out of it
The same way Final Fantasy 2 became the basis for the SaGa series
they should put war of the lions on switch
or at least pc
anything other than just psp
War of the Lions was a hoot.
jangles my copy of wotl
i know this tends to be a fairly unpopular opinion among tactics fans but i actually liked the gba one for what it offered. dunno how people feel about it nowadays but generally through the years you usually had like.. distinct groups of fans that only liked the ps1/psp games and hated the gba/ds ones rofl
I enjoyed the tactics advance and the 2nd advance tactics too. They were pretty creative if not super deep. But they share a world with XII so that's part of my love for em
the ds one was fine, i had more grievances with it than the gba one but i still sunk a fair amount of time in it. i think its perfectly fair to prefer the original tactics but i never understood the hate the handheld ones got lmao
handheld's always gotten more hate than it deserves
i adore ff6 but i dont care for kefka. i can attribute a lot of it to the writing not having as much depth back then but i just dont really find much about him thats interesting
he got a lot more development through dissidia (and opera omnia is giving some nice story too, though i quit playing that a long while back) and i do appreciate that but hes just not my fav
If I was remaking Kefka, here is what I would do
- Hide the fact that he can use magic, and make it a big twist when it turns out he can
Make it a big deal that he's the first ever empire person you've faced who can use magic
Also make it so he can use very powerful magic compared to the likes of Terra and Celes
This would create a strong contrast between him and the heroes, and would also be a cool moment
- Expand on the idea that his fellow generals hate him, but Gestahl keeps protecting him for some reason; perhaps you could elaborate on Gestahl and Kefka's relationship?
Dunno, the fact that you fight him as a relatively weak boss early on to make him later the final boss seems narratively a genius idea in the game
- In the floating island sequence, show him absorbing the energy of the statues and becoming all-powerful; your heroes try to stop him, but you're scripted to lose, and after you are defeated, all you can do is run for your life
Also elaborate on how he actually manages to control the statues in the first place
It is my headcanon that he has esper stuff in him because that is how he was made into an artificial Magitek knight, and so the statues react to him the same way the esper at the start of the game reacted to Terra
- Make it so he gives his death speech from Dissidia when you kill him
- Go through with the bittersweet ending the game seemed to be leading to, and actually have Terra die when magic ceases to exist at the end of the game
Actually there is a lot of stuff I think could be changed in FF6's story to make it stronger
Lethal League is wild
this was actually an aspect of kefka i did like, i think it was especially cool for the time the game came out
My favorite part of Kefka is his introduction
When you first see him, it's trudging through the desert with two grunts
My child-brain knew what I was seeing
"Alright, this is the funny bad guy"
But then he tries to burn down Figaro
And my kid jaw dropped open
"F... funny guy just did something super evil..."
"Funny guys aren't supposed to do evil stuff..."
And that was the moment I knew Kefka wouldn't be another funny villain
i mean he kinda still is, in a progressively more unhinged kind of way
Compare Kefka to someone like Gilgamesh
A lot of people haven't played FF5 so let me explain
Gilgamesh is the second fiddle to FF5's main villain, Exdeath
He is pretty much Kefka played straight; he keeps harassing the heroes, trying to stop them to make Exdeath happy, and fails spectacularly; ||eventually he becomes allies with the heroes and sacrifices himself to help the heroes defeat one of Exdeath's minions||
I can see how people who played all of the games in order would see Kefka and assume he'd play a similar role to Gilgamesh
But nope, he kills off the supposed main villain and is like "I'm the big bad guy now"
well, was. until emet-selch.
as one of the replies said "Looking good for a 609, doesn't look a day over 30"

It's just becoming increasingly clear that Nintendo is just purely anti-competition
Imagine how excited any other developer would be about an org promoting their game and brand to college students. Very likely to increase sales for DLC or next iteration

He's an indie developer not an AAA company but
That's why Scott Cawthon is the best
and AAA companies are legally prohibited from doing what he does, so this is why indie is the best
Like c'mon, a kid once sent him a letter that was meant for Foxy and he sent one back at him writing from his point of view, even tearing up the paper a bit because Foxy has an hook hand
and every time Dawko or Game Theory does a charity livestream he always donates something like 100.000$
His donations to these guys' livestreams are basically a meme now
AND his kids are his beta testers
and he uses family photos in his games
Persona has artemis! Wow i didn't realize artemis is kinda well known
I always thought it is zeus and Poseidon are popular
I personally got an admiration for Toady One.
That guy basically self taught himself gaming and Created DF by himself
Apparently his source code although a very well protected secret. It is impenetrable for a mere mortal as it's basically a one-person language
reminds me of how rollercoaster tycoon was written in assembly
is it normal to have a favourite greek god mythology?
mine is artemis due to her lore
out of all the gods, i found artemis to be the most badass
Bruh, no offence but do you spend all day searching for CP77 posts? ๐
welp looks like the epic games leak was right
it was wrong for at least the first two
o
given that todays giveaway is the long dark
I got Metro 2033 for free back in 2012. Good times
Scott Cawthon may have made mistakes
But those mistakes were genuine mistakes; they didn't come from a place of laziness or oversight
Scott Cawthon is a man who cares about his fanbase, and who will never forget his roots
What did Scott cawthon do?
Heโs the guy behind five nights at freddys, right?
I never got into that game because I have a deep aversion to jump scares
I think he even made the last game in that series free to show it wasnโt a cash grab, which I appreciate
He's very passionate about his craft and engages in zero shady things
He's also quite humble
Anyone here. Give your opinion on Total war? Anyone played one to reccomend to me?
TROY nonwithstanding
The gameplay is super solid
However, if you dont like civ 6 campaign map style games, you probably wont like the main mode of total war as the campaigns do get more boring towards endgame
If you like one particular time period, go for it but total war shogun 2 and fall of the samurai are regarded as the best total war games and they still hold up
Warhammer series is excellent too if you want fantasy
I just realized I have Total War Empire on Steam
I must have gotten it free sometime
Total War is quite interesting series, I think it got quite neat catalogue. It seems quite fun too, of what I have seen game play of. Though I can't give much past that of look. Since new titles just don't want to work when I turn on the RTS mode, which honestly, what's the point of playing it if you kind of auto resolve every battle. But for example Shogun 2 and such are easy on the hardware. Only complaint I can say it seems to be quite an investment on par with say Endless Space 2 investment need to get everything mostly, but thankfully DLCs and such seem to bring in the new stuff for such costs.
Lol I got 100h on ES2 at this point
I think I've won with all races by now
Including dlc ones
I still need to do a proper Endless Space 2 playthrough
Also the United Empire has the most fascinating questline I've seen.
I get confused way too early on how to play properly.
What game allows you to completely transform everyone of your pops?
I also love how assymetric it is
whats endless space 2 about?
Like sin endless legend. Which my main was the one city cult
I love ES2
vodyani or riftborn are my favorite
I think what I also adore the fact that Horatio was powerful enough to get his own Visual Novel in the series.
In ES2 I main vaulters, united empire and unfallen in that order
The joke is that Horatio is the biggest narcissist around so they took it at their logical extreme
The funny thing is that he's the closest thing to a Mezari playable race

Real talk to anyone here whoโs played cyberpunk - is it actually bad? I was considering getting it for Christmas but I canโt tell whether itโs a fun game marred by bugs... or just a straight up awful game. If anyone here has played, it is it fun enough to pick up and ignore the bugs, or it just an unplayable unfun mess that I should pass on for something else
They've released a hotfix, and they'll do one in Feb If I'm not wrong
Depends on what you want
Its very buggy, and its not a very good open world RPG
But its apparently a decent campaign shooter
People say the Driving experience is so bad, Bet It must be comparable to Watch_Dogs
never played cyberpunk, but one of the most common opinions i've heard is "amazing, great game hidden underneath the giant multitude of bugs and jank"
and of course, everything that's been going around about it
Nightcity looks beautiful nonetheless
Serious question. Is this the first default FPS open world with driving?
Alright thanks everyone
Iโll probably pick it up anyway cause itโs the holidays and I have the time ~~and if itโs bad Iโll just keep playing Hades instead
~~
Like, all open world rpgs I played with driving on it have been with third person
I personally have to defeat the Celestian Tales Realms Beyond final boss, 100% Haven, Play the latest Chapter of Edge of Eternity and Start Eternal Radiance now is out of EA. Got no time for CP77.
its very fun and well written in spite of the jankiness and bugs and such
Ok cool
Yeah Cyberpunk 2020 has some cool lore
All th eold characters come from the tabletop
Including Johnny, Rogue, the Arasakas and Adam Smasher
Hilariously Johnny Silverhand is based on Ziggy Stardust
Also funnily enough two of the romance options are 60 years older than you.
I enjoyed it, jank aside
Unsure how I felt about ending but enjoyed it nonetheless
The driving experience isnโt bad, just vehicles handle very differently
Until you get a higher end car or a motorbike, cars donโt feel great
Also you can drive in third person if you wish
Personally I did because the first person driving felt too โtinyโ and kinda awkward
God
I still can't believe OMORI comes out next week
I've been waiting so long
As in Star Citizen long
it's ultra wild to see omori coming out for christmas
oh wow art looks neat, never heard of it
what is it?
at first glance reminds me of earthbound
except from what I can tell, much darker
another horror game on rpgmaker, in other words
the illustrator is omocat. i personally don't have any interest in the game, but it is surprising to see it finally coming out after 7 years in limbo
To be honest it gives me Lisa feels
So to speak
Lol, look who the top comment is
Honestly, Cyberpunk 2077 had potential, but that potential is overlooked by the multitude of bugs, glitches and problems in the game itself.
Maybe if they fixed all the problems itself, make the game better, it would be well recieved.
Twitch will now automatically block the N word (hard r) from chat because apparently they didn't think to do this once in the last 10 years of the site existing but did think simp, incel, and virgin were worth dying for

Well, those three words are quite bad tho. The other one is much tho
? This is just kind of confusing
someone finally told them about autodelete function? wow
i wonder how many streamers lost their ~~lives ~~ channels for that to happen
I have until the 30th of December to get some Switch gift cards ;-; all I would want is Final Fantasy IX for 11 bucks and Shikhondo Soul Eater for 4 but Sakuna tho ;-;
Sales always look so tempting
I only have like 14 dollars saved but tax exists so I'd probably be a couple cents short even if I included gold
however....VIII is only 10 ๐ค๐ค
fwiw sakuna is not a good game, but it's bad in interesting ways
:0 now am sad
however I do tend to have questionable taste๐ค๐ค
Butttttt that 50 dollars I'd spend on Sakuna could buy me most if not all of the FF games on switch and I can go back go pretending my Vita doesn't exist and wait till Sakuna goes on sale ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค
u could also divert a small amount to picking up Outer Wilds on egs's winter sale if u havent already played it
If I had a little more than a busted laptop I would

Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 contains unused functionality to display low-polygon versions of drivers if they are far away from the camera. If it is enabled, drivers turn into low-quality versions of themselves, except for Waluigi, who turns into a low-quality Mario instead.

Waluigi feels like a creepypasta come to life at this point.
Just finished RiME and ahhhhhh such a great game
Yesssss it is. I didn't love the ending but I loved the game so much, and for minimalist stories that's what matters ๐
mmhm, the ending was definitely not what I expected
the credits music (and the entire ost for that matter) was incredible
I definitely didn't accidently soft lock at one point by jumping into a candle at a slight elevation
I think I would've liked the ending better if I hadn't played it immediately after another game with the same twist, I kid you not, and also if the framing had been a little different, same story overall but with some more emphasis on ||the kid's|| agency I suppose. But ๐คทโโ๏ธ I loved all the areas SO much, so.
It's funny you enjoyed RiMe
It felt weirdly emotional hearing the song in Spanish
As it's my native tongue
This one is too funny to not post it
Hi five Borat is now in Night City. Looks like Cyberpunk 2077 will be saved after all.

lmao
Yessssss! I'm glad you enjoyed it, I always recommend it to people
'Tiempo a Tiempo va....' ๐ต
I may have already started learning the speedrun for RiME too ๐
๐ RiME speedrun sounds cool
I can't believe he actually did it https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/328246239160434691/790401530712424468/Screenshot_20201220-201248.jpg
the mad lad
been watching him daily since April or so
I was there :D
3 years in the making
Honestly he made it pretty close by rerolling the build and had some trouble at Hush
I'm pretty sure I was zonked on pain meds at noon today unfortunately
I was there for episode 1000 tho
also he said my tag at the end of episode #1113 which I pogged at
Platinum?
sold.
Oh yeah, you are right
Which pokemon games u have?
platinum slaps
Emerad FireRed Platnium and X
It was lame
It was lame. I like edgy stuff but she was bad....
I like her content too. It was just that part.
her pokemon Emerald was so fun
what vid?
Yeah, it was one of the few moment where I went wth
oh Jaiden animations
Jaden pokemon nuzlock
Anyway About genshin Impact or Gacha impact
is fine
if you can control the urge to spend
or just re roll
which I did a bunch XD
Honestly the fact that her Garchomp somehow outspeed Cynthia's Garchomp was pretty clutch.
I don't wanna go anywhere near a gacha game lol
I mean, it is my 1st gacha
I played it for a couple hours and I will admit that its pretty
Haven't played Genshin Impact.
but the gliding system sucks
But Hearthstone sucked me dry in term of collectible games
I wanted a replacement for breath of the wild and I got it with genshin
genshin is great for people who dont have a switch or the money for botw
and that's largely what put me off of it in the first place
So I'm not sure if I want to do GI
the gliding is slower than Breath of the wild
botw gliding is perfect
botw gliding is my second favorite double jump ever
do you ever get some sort of gliding ability is horizon zero dawn
the grinding is annoying though
nope
damn
game is pretty as hell tho
Horizon came first btw
fingies crossed for some sort of air traversal in the sequel tbh
also yeah i will die on the hill of "we don't need models to look any better than the ones in hzd, just better animations and material simulations"
Jacob Geller likes that game and I trust him with my life
but i have my hands full with genshin no more open world games for me
some of the cutscenes in hzd are breathtaking
I mean Ill be honest
they even improved dramatically on face animations between the base game and frozen wilds
I will always recommend Monster Hunter or capcom games for the most part.
I dont think HZD should have air traversal
I'm of the opinion that if every realistic game had the graphical fidelity of Titanfall 2 I wouldn't mind
I wish there was more games like Ori and Hollow Knight, I love platformer games. Rayman, and so on. Also Racket and Clark, or Sack Boy (little big planet), but I do not have PlayStation ๐ข
because my PC can run that at 1080p144
u Mean metroidvanias?
play Castlevania symphony of the night
U could play some of the classics, if you haven't already
SUper metroid, metroid fusion, samus returns
bloodstained
I hope that one game will comes to switch. Idk the name but it's new game and it have 'about the time' in name heh
which one?
bayo 3 when
Rune factory V? Monster hunter rise or stories 2?
Shin megami tensei?
Bayonetta 3 which is missing in action at the moment?
ope's talking about crash 4, which is never coming to switch on account of being sony first party
Xenoblade x port...
crash is exclusive?
Tbh all of platinumgames games right now seem to be missing in action
Bayo 3, Babylons Fall
Wonderful 101
new funky mode
yeah play Xenoblade 1 for the wii instead
Found it! Crash Bandicoot 4
oh i wouldn't recommend it to anyone, no
Crash 4 is....SO HARD
but i'd buy it myself
I will probably give dank souls remastered another whack
And it platformer, so I do not care about the difficulty
i like xeno 2 more than 1 tbh
i cannot in good conscience claim that the preference is definitely not because of how weak i am to brogues
tho also: 2 gave me a sense of scale vertigo i've never encountered in a game before
brogue?
UK accents that aren't english
ah I looked that up and it gave me shoes
Cyberpunk please. This game is just the most broken thing I've ever experienced.
Here is a video where I slowly go insane exploring the weird world of undertale fandom. Featuring Sans and Papyrus, and maybe Gaster. Also spoilers.

Man, most of the replies are nice. But some are so salty xD. Somehow TLOU2 fans are butthurt over this, despite TLOU2 winning the majority of awards this year?
That hussie game actually looks reasonably interesting?
Like its got his trademark bad art, but
That in itself is charming
And for what its worth, I do think he is a very creative writer, he just needs boundaries before things get really out of control
https://twitter.com/GamesThan @polar dragon
even if it's just a meme account, i love it
is there any actual precedent for hussie having an editor?
reading now
I don't think hussies art is bad
like his whole Thing is balls to the walls bonkeritude, innit
it's got a super unique/recognizable style
I mean, an editor I dont think so
Congrats @SupergiantGames ! Hades is one of my top games this year!
And a big thank you to all the fans that voted The Last of Us Part II as IGNโs People's Choice GotY! Honored! https://t.co/q1iV5hKNHl
2601
But I meant boundaries as in a clearly defined, early ending
Problem Sleuth was incredible
Because it also had an end that came in time
spheal drickmann
And eh, I would say that Hussies art, at least in that specific style is bad
I mean he calls it bad himself
Its kinda the point
oh, sure, the most important thing a story can do is end, and at this point homestuck can't do that
a game kinda has to, tho, if it ships
then it didn't end
But yeah Homestucks biggest issue is that at some point it got completely incomprehensible
act 6
no the biggest issue is that it's still going
Id argue it began in act 5
Eh, Homestuck 2 is considered a semi-non-canon sort of AU story
But yeah, Hussie can draw well
Just that that specific trademark style of his is intentionally bad
the "who" as first reply SENDS ME
lmao
you are right fox, these replies are so good
i'm reading the comments and dying on the inside bit by bit
i am just screenshotting them all it's so funny
There's always salt.
you either have supermarket salt or pink himalayan salt
i say you got both here and it's beautiful
am i allowed to ask why homestuck is still going?
we can compress all of this salt and build a replica of all the three skelly statues
i would love to see irl skelly statues
i know there's debate over the canonicity of the epilogues and homestuck v2
haha there was a comment using a games sold number from september to claim that hades was "unpopular"
the 1mil copies one? hilarious
at least we transform something bad and useless in something good
(also, nice nick)
you can ask, but you don't want the answer
even if i didn't play it and i'm not interested in it i'm kinda sad for the doom players
That game looks pretty cool
hell i would've traded best action for hades for best soundtrack to give it to doom
if the answer is what i think it is... i basically told my friend last night not to read it because of it lmao
now i'm curious tho what's the reason
we were discussing web comics in general but i might move into the relevant chat for an update on that
lmao
lmao fox you can do it
what? ๐
oh snap
anyway the reasons i brought up were: convoluted, something i don't think i can mention on this server, other web comics out there just being better
oh i mean there's no reason, it just can never die
i honestly cant believe there are hardcore tlou2 fans
I mean the reason Homestuck is (sort of) still going is because Hussie decided it would be
tlou, yeah sure
Also partially because the fans wanted it
but tlou2?
