among many, many other things
the only current FPS game i can think of that is trying to bridge that gap is ultrakill
and even though i still haven't played it, i haven't heard a single person complaining about it's bossfights
i might play that, the U spot is not taken as of yet...
only cool """""fps"""""" bossfight i can think of is portal (both) lmfao
my point exactly
it's a puzzle game
there ain't much shooting there
like - put the glados fight in a context of an actual first person shooter and all you end up with is this generic big thing you can easily circle-strafe around
yea

and i somehow managed to gaslight myself into making not one, but two FPS bossfights that somehow avoid all of those issues
hell yea
hell no
anyways
apparently first light runs just fine on the deck

surely 7 crashes would equal to 7 gameplay issues and at least 4...

right?
there's gotta be a conversion rate for that
I guess technically crashes aren't gameplay
there was a guy on reddit asking how to trigger bsods and everybody had to tell them 'NO'

this does sound pretty good
are there good games about pirates?
depends on which ones you pirate
i should probably rephrase that
monkey island

that's about it, i guess
SID MEYER'S PIRATES!

as far as black flag remake i would wait.

Regarding recently released Realm of Ink, anyone gave it a go?
I am a bit on the fence about opening the old wallet right now
Yesterday, I tried emulating PS3 games
The emulator explicitly said it doesn't support intel GPU but screw it, I tried it anyway
Tales of Xillia ran fine.
On vulkan that is
When I switched to OpenGL my monitor went black
test subject remains the worst boss of all time
Test subject Co-op is the prisoner's dilemma
past phase 1 it's free
but in solo runs I just die in third phase
tell me your secret. 2nd phase and 3rd phase is just 50 damage hitting you three times
I had such a good regent build doing with stardust and seven stars, with block being generated with every star spent
and I still lost
The secret to beating a boss with so many different deck requirements (and the secret to A10, by extension) is to create a massive deck with lots of draw manipulation
infinites are a lie
I mean I had 25 cards with a couple of glows and cards that let me pick from my discard pile to be put on top of my draw pile
phase 1 & phase 2 and 3 require different decks? Ok just smash 2 different decks into 1 and use draw manip to switch between each on a dime
40
40?? that's crazy
all of my ascension 10 clears are between 30-40
two of them were with bing bong which was hilarious
perfected strike build with bingbong is peak
everyone's been telling me to keep the decks light
it's good for speedrunning, and can work, but don't try and force it if it's not happening
so are you just taking every single card reward?
generally, you don't want to ever have your deck in a state of "bad now but will be good later if I get X or Y"
no, I skip a lot of them
https://youtu.be/aDb8rnRpOV4?si=fJmpYwftqP1ObOam
this is my deckbuilding philosophy

#slaythespire2 #meme #anime #orb #doormaker
bigger decks are way better in sts2
icic
big deckism for the win
but that doesn`t mean smaller decks arent good
it`s just that they are a bit hard to get
they CAN be very good, but it's like getting a lottery ticket
you need to get good with events to remove them
tbh idek what infinites you can even make
oh lol
they can be done it`s just hard and also not optimal
with the Kaleidoscope (and technically Colorful philosophers event) there's so many fun combos
the new Neow relics are so fun
yeah most neow relics are super good now
I got shining strike hellraiser and was softlocked on hunterkiller 💀
what does it mean by scaling? is that just upgrades at a campfire?
oh yeah that combination
common shining strike L
Your damage will scale over the battle, via things like strength or powers
oh gotcha
the most important advice I can give overall is to not go into the run with an idea of what build you HAVE to get to win: because then you'll just skip card rewards until you get it (and probably die along the way due to low deck power)
your deck always needs to be in a workable state, with as few unusable cards as possible (e.g grabbing mirage on silent without any poison, basically a curse)
and go with what the game gives you
so just pick good cards (that work with your current deck) whenever the opportunity presents itself
yeah just sorta feel it out as you go
also since you struggle with test subject a lot I really recommend you to get consistent damage instead of relying on one big damage payoff like stardust
(or ways to call on that damage at specific times, whether by drawing or retaining, and blocking inbetween)
tbh that`s a good tip for everything, stardust is kinda doodoo unless you have insane amounts of star generation
it`s usually good with sealed throne
but that`s rare
sealed throne nerf 💔
I love tanx doubled sealed throne into black hole and particle wall...
I imagine stardust is way better in multiplayer since you can get away with building up your stars while your team helps
the nerf was deserved honestly
It really was
I think one of the big reasons cycle/infinite decks are being so disincentivized by the developers is because of multiplayer, which the negative reviews don't consider at all (probably because they don't have any friends to play with)
lol
wait it was nerfed? it's already quite strong haha
well, up until test subject (the worst boss oat!!!!)
like last time my friend got an infinite in multiplayer I literally went AFK and made a sandwich
sealed throne was
oh
it was innate and now it`s not, instead it costs 0 energy 3 stars
so it's more of a sidegrade but the innate is what enabled broken builds
how do you even get more energy for using card draw well? like icecream and pael's tears are good relics, but if you don't get them, I don't get the point of card draw
ik defect has the battery card, necro has the energy next turn card, but they don't seem that great
i dont really think the balance decisions are being made with multiplayer in mind, and if they are that would be really unfortunate
necro has friendship, desmene and borrowed time
all are really good energy cards
I don't think that the are being made with multiplayer in mind ENTIRELY, but it is definitely a factor
since it's part of the game
I'm honestly thinking of making a reinforcement learning agent for this game bruh
first visit monte carlo
don't build one become one
in a recent interview I think casey didn't mention multiplayer when answering why infinites were made harder
iirc it was more of a "we want infinites to be possible, just not doable with 2 cards"
yep! I remember seeing that interview
and I definitely agree making combos more complex is fun
i was not feeling regent at all all the way up to a10, then this was dropped by the best sts1 player https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dY5nQXauhfAuWFRoOGQnBZVXgSZomonGZ5Bwt2aIvNY/edit?tab=t.0 and then I suddenly got it
The patch this guide is written for is updated in the title, keep that in mind if some balance changes happen This character already wins every run please stop being so bad that he gets buffed every patch ty I will assume you already know common Spire mechanics like advanced hallways or potion ...
no need to read it all but definitely worth looking at the star economy and the act 1 pathing (which currently really is the most important part of the game)
somehow the only character I can't do A10 on is Defect despite playing it the most
and then go back to it if you ever wonder if you should get specific cards or not
defect is the character i've played the least
he's fun though, specially status decks
The issue with their status decks is that there aren't any common cards that can turn it into an engine (things like compact, flak cannon, or any of the status powers)
so often times you'll play a bunch of fun status cards then your deck will reshuffle and you'll be cooked
they did a fairly good job of giving defect the status archetype, but it still feels a bit crammed in considering it used to be ironclad's
definitely
Surely some of the FFXIV players here get the reference

i wonder how much of this campaign is going to be ai-generated
remember last year when bricky caught that and asked steam for a refund saying that there's nothing on the steam page saying that the singleplayer campaign has ai-generated assets and they refunded the game after he finished the whole campaign?

phase 3 = bust no matter what
I guess you could say this boss really is your nemesis... (Sts1 players will find this hilarious)
it really feels like the worst boss of all time
obviously it's a skill issue but I've not managed to beat this guy once solo over 70 hours
duo test subject (or the whole game, honestly) is a lot better because you can focus more on support/status effects
I think storm, flak cannon and smokestack were kind of dragging you down
You didn't have many powers, and only 2 status generation cards
flak cannon definitely helped a lot for phase 1 and 2, but yeah
but I thought the point was to try and have as much build variety
No, because it has a bad word and it may get blocked
The point is more to cover for your weaknesses in the next fights
Eventually you will see potential synergies from the cards you picked but
Shotgunning for all builds when you don't have the necessary cards to make each of them work will get u killed
When I get home Ill try to explain brb 😭
It's good to get cards that help you shape out your deck, but not so much if the card you're trying to pick doesn't exactly help you right away
Take Meteor Strike, for example, that card is awesome, but unless you have a way to make that five energy cost manageable, it's a no-go
Or if you're playing as Silent, there's Envenom (power, your Shivs also apply 1 Poison), don't take it if you don't have Shiv cards or you're already building for Poison
Diana looks a little like a frog, and that resemblance slays me
What toblerone said is right, you gotta pick the card that's gonna help your short term instead of picking things with any build in mind. When I say weakness I usually mean, what are the things that can potentially kill me in the next floors, and how do I prepare for them.
For example, let's say you are playing as Silent in act 1, early floors gave you nothing, you are about to fight an elite and you have no damage. A card reward shows up and there are 3 options, 1 one of them is irrelevant and the others are Predator (15 damage/2 cost) and the other one is Accelerant. You have no poison cards, sure, accelerant can be busted in the right conditions and maybe you can luck out and get some poison card, but choosing this over Predator (a card that btw, will most certainly be useless by act 3 and doesn't really synergize with any "builds"), will probably cost you the run.
i want to swear so bad
would you then remove predator at a shop or just strikes/defends
Say it with me. Blood. And. Darkness
it's still strikes and defends
btw, your win condition here in this case was probably darkness + ice orbs
yea I was doing very well with them
yeah and you wanna cycle to those things as fast as possible, that's why the status picks and storm probably killed you
quadcast on dark orb is insane
it wasn't the test subject he's a good boy
i'm checking for good games to buy
mina the hollower is dropping tomorrow
it's been getting a lot of good reviews
ranni didnt u just buy 007
oh yeah true but i need it to be on playstation
though Mina is releasing on playstation too I guess
i'm already almost at the end
I've been playing it nonstop
1.5 million copies sold!
Thank you for showing up to the launch of 007 First Light, for your overwhelming enthusiasm and for sharing your experience with the game.
Play our re-imagined James Bond origin story today and #EarnTheNumber. Available now.
i'm loving first light so far. one of the best AAA experiences in a while
Quick clarification- although envenom definitely works the best with a shiv build, its ability allows you to apply poison with any unblocked attack damage, which provides some fun synergy with multihitters like ricochet & flechettes, and expose (which is basically built for envenom, as it removes both things that would block its conditions)
Correct, my mistake, Envenom doesn't work just on Shivs, simply on unblocked attack damage
It's just best used with Shivs, as it's the cheapest (and probably most effective) way to apply Envenom poison
first time trying the daily, was super duper fun lmao

I did NOT play the Queen fight optimally, just wanted to spam as much damage as I could
dramatic entrance was so peak 😭 biting scrolls never stood a chance
wait there's a cyberpunk 2 in development?
if i recall, it was about when Phantom Liberty came out. They pretty much said they cant really do any of what they want to do with the current 2077 engine so they have to make a 2 and not make any more content for 2077
icic
i mean the witcher 3 is still on the REDengine and that's getting a new expansion next year
so i don't understand if that's the reason
They just wanna mass hire unreal engine devs
witcher 3 is getting a new expansion specifically because of witcher 4 its like when bl2 released a dlc many years later to tie into bl3's upcoming release
cyberpunk was going to have more dlc but it got scrapped in favor of fixing the game (the big 2.0 update they did)
I’ve got some very important news too
This is no ordinary upscale. This is a full rework of the classic Door Stuck masterpiece.
See his latest and greatest renditions of the Door Stuck video here: @M47RHhNTQx
And the original, here: https://youtu.be/VqB1uoDTdKM

i still don't see why the engine would prevent the game from getting new content if the witcher 3 has the same engine and it's getting more
oh it totally doesn't. that's just the excuse they used. people are making bunches of good mods that could be update features if they wanted
watched this in 240p 🔥
finished 007 first light. banger
well we've had first light, but what about second light? I don't think they know about second light.
I wanna play more but work smh
I just started the ||london museum party level||
that's around halfway through the game i believe
so far really enjoying it, it's kinda like a new uncharted+hitman-lite game
it also reminds me of sleeping dogs, the melee combat at least
It does help that the developers...so happen to be the developers of the Hitman series
I do agree with the criticism that it's like, a half-action game, half-hitman game so neither gets the amount of focus that a more dedicate game would
but James Bond is defined by being a lot of things at once so it's ok here I think
it's a better execution of post Goldeneye 007 games I think, where they all have stealth, shooting, fistfight, and driving sections with varying levels of quality
oh man I LOVED sleeping dogs
100%ed the game several years ago
bought it
so far it has been worth the wait
I played in VETERAN because "Pfff the game is going to be so easy".....it wasn't
veteran gives you no checkpoints whatsoever, lol

maybe for a new playthrough
if u die twice in a row u lose all your progress and Mina goes back to Level 1
that's nasty

imagine if in Hades you lose 2 runs in a row and they take away all your House progress
is kind of like that...kind of
oh uh
if there's an achievement that needs you to win in veteran mode, I'm not sure if I could do that lmao
there a lot of modifiers
don't modifiers disable achievements?
there might be an archivement that forces to play with the ones that make you OP
would be funny as hell
I have not checked the archivements
I stopped caring about those
after FF 7 rebirth
I love collecting achievements, can't help myself
and Square directo Agreed, they release a statement that the trophies were too harsh and too demanding
not difficult, the combat relates one, were the best one
but doing all the mini games and with high scores and other not enjoyable stuff? no.
and my reward was....Piano One winged angel
the hardest piano song in the game....
thanfully it was a 3 minutes version and not the full 7 minutes one
one day u will find a game that break you and u will stop hunting achivements

but that day is yet to come
satisfactory came close
tbf there are some games where I don't want to achievement hunt
like factorio, for one
don't make me Summon Bim
oh ok
Bim will post 20 billion mods of Doom from the 90s
and make us watch a documentary about 90s boomer shooters

bruh...I am a JRPG gamer, god pls no
that's exactly the point
i think of it like this too
surely the segments don't have as much depth as hitman levels but since the game is structured like a more linear adventure it doesn't feel like something's missing
for 70$ I expect something much better than games from 20 years ago

like how indies are just taking over with lower prices and better games in general
thankfully having more features doesn't mean a better game
I ngl I think warframe isn’t a good game
It’s ok at best honestly
There’s my hot take

Gang I lost a Hollow Knight steel soul run because I slipped and fell on some parkour
The damage knocked me back into some spikes, delivering me two hitpoints at once
My little guy is no more
So I started playing Tales of Xillia
I accidentally used my one and only omega elixir to cure poison
Wonderful
i've just started playing it
such a great game
I like it even more than shovel knight
we live in the golden age of video games!
It’s more like highly polished copper
hopefully the AI bubble bursts soon so that we can keep playing games
seeing the steam deck priced so high is actual insanity
Pope Leo quite literally released a huge work on why we shouldn't embrace AI
Butlerian Jihad incoming?
It's called Magnifica Humanitas
beautiful naming
i guess i could join a luddite crusade
I don't want it to "burst" i want it to DETONATE. i want to see companies crashing and burning. i want to see people dying. i need DESTRUCTION
007 is a lot of fun
just running around sneak attacking and punching and blinding guys
sounds like a regular tuesday for me
So it was you!
:)

what about it
I thought that was mostly Destiny 2 fans and Marathon fans having a civil war
i love videogames
Cascade Tetris is the goat
I wasn't about to get mina the hollower, but complaints about its difficulty are tempting me
oh!
this reminds me
i gotta check out my wishlist on steam
i added lots of cool games there yesterday
bought divinity bundle
gonna play it with a friend
...after I beat Tales of Xillia
Oh outer wilds is on sale again
Maybe I should just buy and have it rot in my library
The indie space one
i see
That sounds too high IQ for me, but it's cheap so it's whatever
how much is it ?
Below 20 CAD when on sale
ah
I think
and i'm thinking about...
buying this
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2476650/Do_You_even_Forklift/
idk that sounds fun
saw it yesterday at cda expo in the indie booths
it's such a small dinky little game but it's so charming
great pun
and the devs had these tinny little dioramas of their levels made of cardboard
it's just adorable
just beat 007
I kinda want to play again
just to do a smoother playthrough
also have I become an achievement hunter
I want to get the achievements and collectibles
yeah i heard rumours that it...
actually runs well on the deck?
how in tf
collectibles?
in a james bond game?
yeah like intel documents and stuff
I missed like half of them somehow
even though I felt I was pretty thorough
the only thing i can imagine 007 collecting is stds
is that too much?
i'll let the mods decide
007 in this one is young so he doesn't sleep around too much
well he does do it a little bit
fair enough
you know - was watching...
whatshisface
uh
writing on games, forgot the name of the guy who runs it
anyway
i was looking at some of these more open stealth sections and listening about how they're constructed and such and it got me thinking...
are they going to port them to hitman WOA?
naw
i mean - it's the same engine, and most gameplay features are already there
i could totally see them doing a small DLC with some first light bits in it
they would need a ton of work to port them I think
oh for sure
there isn't enough depth to the maps in terms of size and items and disguises
but on the other hand - a ton of work is already done, you know?
they're not even structured to support disguises in the first place
mumbai?
are you thinking about the last mission from 3
yes
did that ever get reused for anything
or was it just meant to be a semi-climactic romp of a final mission where you go sicko mode
probably the latter
i liked the actor that plays 007 in this game
i also finished 007
007/10
melee combat and shooting parts feel pretty fun, story was also great with good action setpieces
but there were so many walk and talk parts
with underwhelming stealth and this barebones social engineering system
i know bond doesn't kill civs but can the executives atleast let him knock them out
i think a government agent randomly knocking out innocent civilians wouldn't sit well
in no moment I felt like the game had too much limitations on the problem solving honestly. the missions felt very smooth
i mean they were smooth for me too, just not for the right reasons
the main tool for getting around with stealth was hacking
which you think is gonna give you a bunch of creative solutions
but mechanically it was just you throwing a brick to distract the guards
like 90% of the things you can hack are just "oh this will make a sound and the guard will turn around"
which ironically turns out to be less complex than throwing a brick because you can hack things in front of anyone and they will not suspect a thing
i really couldn't tell because i was often not really engaging with stealth tbh
just entering the loud combat usually did the trick to get missions over with more easily
i eventually did the same thing because combat was just more fun
it doesn't help that a big part of the game is the social settings though, which limits your walk speed, doesn't let you knock out civilians and barely has any clever solutions available to get pass things
i mean i didn't mind those segments in those game because they were a part of the set-up to the story and missions
were it in hitman I'd be really bored since the fun part is engaging with the scenery but in first light it's a narrative experience so it never once to me felt unnecessary
yeah i get that they were using those sections in service of narrative
I just think they already had perfected the formula of social stealth with hitman and had to take steps back probably because of a bunch executive decisions out of their control
"bond is not allowed to do this, this, this and that" type of thing
let bond do some mass murder
who cares!
.....lol
u can make the game easier with the many modifiers in the game plus
a little difficulty won't kill you
Insert LATAM Spanish DBZ meme of Trunks saying: Traiganle una Falda a la Niña

U have 3 weapon choices at the start, I went with the Chain whip because RANGE and mid speed. Daggers are Zelda gb combat but wow close combat in this game is really dangerous and the Mace while having long and short range (U need to Charge it for the Long SMASH attack) I dont know....
he already does this though
i don't think him not attacking civilians is some sort of character guideline. i think it simply isn't necessary as a game mechanic considering most of the combat is in more isolated areas
if anything those limitations made the experience a bit more interesting as you kind of have to work with less options. at least in my opinion
in hitman you can attack anyone but it takes points from your score so i avoided it there too. and it was much more interesting this way
ranni hates Resident evil

no one here knows of videogames
back in my day we have Jump and shoot while moving to the right

i love resident evil
Then u know Leon S Kennedy is the True 007 game
yeah RE 9 ended being MEMBER berry the game
miles better if it was only the Grace sections
The Giant Scary Boss in Raccoon City was Great.....scary as F

those who know......know
i don't understand why grace only has 1 gun though, they should have gave more attention to her sections
like make them a bit more fleshed out, give her more enemy variety near the end
the final level with her is ||just lickers and some grey zombies that's it||
i avoided killing civs in hitman too but the important difference is that those options were still there, if you were playing in freelancer or without savescumming that was a last resort that you could use
She has THE REQUIEM
btw thats a Jojo reference
Lickers have never been all that impressive
i fail to see how they made it more interesting when you yourself said you always went combat instead of stealth and also said you'd find these parts boring were they in hitman
RE 1996 Hunters were more dangerous
and all they did was rush you and cut you in the legs and jump and try to cut your head off
2 at the same time would end you pretty easily
At least in RE 2 remake lickers are way better
they were interesting as in the linearity kind of forced me to look for what the planned outcomes are. in hitman i usually just threw a coin and got into a disguise and that did the work for a lot of missions. now obviously this is just one of the many ways of playing hitman, and I deliberately chose the 'easier' way, but I think the limitation worked for the better in 007
this might sound like a very contradictory point but i simply felt it worked a lot for this narrative experience they went with
People complain about games limiting the player?

U all u play Darkest Dungeon
learn to adapt and overcome challenges
alex what would you do if megaman was an imsim
Translation
bold of u to assume I know what...Imsim means
immersive sim
mine too..because this year has been kind of mid
who up hollowing they mina
Mewgenics became so unfair in act 3 and drop it
plus all my cats became defective mutants with many negative traits and barely any positives
right, i still don't see it and think the story worked in spite of those limitations and not because of them, so i guess we'll just have agree to disagree on that
i still understand what you mean because at first i really felt odd seeing it missed a lot of the features we saw on the hitman games
specially in that first level at the party
but eventually i kind of saw it as this large james bond simulator experience and those aspects didn't bother me as much
did you even try to prevent inbreeding?

but thats the only way to get super mutant powerful cats
anyway I gave up
what are you, clan moulder?
idk
Weren’t you playing it?
a6 with ironclad done
not sure if i should keep pushing or start doing random characters again
ironchad and silent are both at a7 now
that was like 2 weeks ago
I got caught up with other games
like 007 and mina the hollower and guilty gear strive
Mina so far is a top tier game
I want Graveyard keeper 2 to release already
and Capcom forgot about ONIMUSHA
darn idiots, announcing stuff way too early
it's still releasing this year innit
maybe september
No release date outside of 2026 is not a good sign
dude if the Wilds expansion trailer has my boy it'd be so peak
videos james....
Videos james!! A whole section for them, finally!
at last
I too love. bideo bame.

Can we talk Risk of Rain here?
you sure can!
videos game
vidya gaem
(here's the source for that, btw https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/hdxjt8/risk_of_rain_2/)
ah! videos jame channel!
Spoiler for Risk of Rain 2 players: the actual risk of rain is 0 since there is no rain in the game. I just finished the game for you. Yw.
Similarly, in XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the enemy is actually known, they are aliens. Yw, again.
They’re kinda unknown in the very first mission tho
@polar dragon I can't believe you've done this
They're unknown in each mission until you find them
Wow, are you saying all aliens are the same? Smh my head
That kind of mentality is so oppressive towards people from other planets
I mean they kinda do
zarya is just as fun in HotS as she is in Overwatch
"oh, uh, plz don't die, thanks for the damage"
i would contend that zarya is much more fun in hots b/c u literally can't miss with her gun
fair?
I mean, technically you can
If someone has a dodge ability, you do "miss"
But yeah, no aim required
I should play deathwing
its not like my allies ever help me anyways
now that I've got my overwatch quest out of the way, who do I want to play today?
alarak
Alarak is the best protoss character, change my mind
Is there a Rhythm Game fanboy over here?
hai
i've been in love with alarak ever since the match where i managed to get his chain lightning quest completed in the first 2 minutes
@broken smelt A fellow connoisseur?

Hyper Light Drifter is a rogue-like that has really cool bg and set design and also music!
also the second game from that studio is coming next year
I played a really early demo YEARS ago and they just realesed a fully fledged demo just yesterday
If I were to call it something, its unconventional
You only need one button
Just press on the 7th beat
easy right?
Crypt of the Necrodancer is also really good.
YES
IT IS AMAZING
Rhythm games are just downright one of the best genres of video games
Its just so much fun
You can almost guarantee an amazing soundtrack with every one
Actually osu! is technically a rhythm game right?
i always thought that rhytm games are a kind of games where you can play your own track and game will adapt to it.. like audiosurf or beat hazard.. or beat saber from recent ones
i guess osu! is a perfect example
Yeah
But all rhythm games I have can do that
Crypt of the necrodancer has a level editor and you can put in any track from your device and it automatically sets the bpm
The only one I know that doesn't do that is Rhythm Haven
I remember a funny game being made not too long ago that mashed up rhythm games with platformers
Upbeat, it was called
so hey uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh https://youtu.be/q7HZMo3s75g

EXCUSE ME WHAT
Oh its a MOBA
...
I'm kinda dissapointed now
I got really excited
lmao pokemon moba
why tho
its for china
ok i can't argue with that
they wasted people's time and energy for one game
but money
did the segment just not get done editing on time for the announcements a few days prior
that's not a project management™
If I can't catch em all, then no
@dreamy heart is this a hollow knight reference in #hades-feedback
It is.
niiice

You're disgusting and I love you.
TFW you're using your suit thrusters to nudge your capsule back into the atmosphere in KSP
its the KSP equivalent of pushing your car to the gas station
when you ran out of gas 200 feet from it
If you don't have to use your suit thrusters in space to get home, are you even playing KSP? 😄
Its a good thing Kerbals don't really require life support because Camby Kerman is staying in space a few weeks longer than intended.
Started playing detroit: become human on saturday (yay for ps4 exclusives on pc). Finished it on monday and searched all the flowcharts until 2AM (and i had a test by 10 AM)...
Such an amazing game
And now i'm watching bryan dechart (connor's actor) play the game
reminded me of pyre in the emotion department
From legendary game creator Hideo Kojima comes an all-new, genre-defying experience.
$59.99
Jul 14, 2020
It's out?
Or you just putting it out there?
I was so excited for it because it was Kojima, but it was just a let down.
Just felt like an absolute walking simulator
Anyone else agree?
I loved the game, although I got a bit too obsessed with delivering pizza in mint condition.
Some story sequences really left me scratching my head, though.
i got probably 3/4 of the way through it, i actually enjoyed the mechanical portions of it but the story just was not even slightly compelling
The fact that it was so easy for everything to go wrong just felt so limiting
I love Kojima's work, but the story was so weak and gameplay was anything but enjoyable
Can you tell me about why that is?
I mean the weak story and the gameplay
Im interested
If I were to put it in a a few words, I'd say it felt like the game was purposefully wasting your time
You had to go back and forth between locations to progress an extremely uninteresting story
yeah the story had interesting elements, but it only progressed in the form of cutscenes that were mostly vignettes about a new character's tragic backstory each time with a crumb here or there about the actual currently-happening story
Sure it did divert from the normal bad habits of open world games, but it just felt like Kojima's poor excuse to make something that isn't Metal Gear Solid
personally i'm a big connoiseur of traversal mechanics in games, and i felt like the game really did a good job of giving you enough time to master each tool it gave you before it gave you a new tool to learn
The man made a game like P.T which broke my mind on how well it did
True I guess it was alright in that sense
But the tools still felt so lacklustre and tedious, it usually ended up falling flat for me
though i guess at the end of the day most of what i like about the game is whatever guerrilla learned about their engine from it to put in horizon one dawn
what was the story about in a nutshell?
True but allow me to try my best
||"Death Stranding" was essentially a cataclysmic catastrophe where stuff called "Breached Things" or BTs came out of nowhere and just started blowing up everywhere.||
||You play as Sam who goes around disposing corpses by burning them because if they are left alone, they turn into BTs||
||Then some random masked dude comes and gets BTs to kill you and then you die||
||LUCKILY Sam is special dude whose soul basically ends up in a place called the seam where he can just go back to his body||
I think you should mark this as spoilers.
I mean this like at the start but sure
||This cutscene occurs where you see this baby inside you esophagus and gives you a thumbs up and then BOOM your back to life.||
Yeah i think I'll stop because there are like a lot of stuff to explain...
Plus a lot of stuff don't make sense because Kojima
but hey its more coherent than MGS
But yeah it failed to keep my interest for a while
I could explain the 40 hours that is Death Stranding but its kinda hard
yeah like i said, you can't nutshell kojima
Story aside, the most interesting innovation is the amount of cooperation in a single-player game. You can use structures created by other players to a degree and vice versa. I found it very satisfying to blaze trails, pave streets and donate tools, knowing someone else might benefit from it.
that, and i lost probably 6 solid hours to finishing all the roads and establishing total zipline coverage
Bought Titanfall 2 Tuesday night.
awww yeah its that day of the year steam is completely unusable
they completely overhauled profile ui when the sale dropped too
sure wish i could even look at the store though
I am surprised I wasn't affected by it and can actually use it.
oh my god the profile... i dont like it
then again I tuned it in right as it started so it could play into that
i managed to buy something at least LOL
people buying titanfall 2 and HLD
yeah I don't like how it's basically another sale of "hey here is not real money™️ points to get the stuff, but actually you buy games to get that". And also yeah I wish golden profiles weren't a thing either.
if you guys are looking for something to buy, pathologic 2 is 58% off 👀
the name is a bit confusing, but you dont need to play the first one to play it
Good lord
Instead of fixing the hot mess that is the client
They do unneccessary UI changes
Lovely
who ever uses image display now will have to fix theirs for sure
also now you can add a color to your profile
At least Syndicate is on sale I guess
On a sidenote, the first Trails of Cold Steel game is on sale
If you like turn-based JRPGs with a good story and many interesting characters, its a good series to get into
Wait wait wait
Ys IX is confirmed for localisation?
And its coming to PC?
Sweet
https://gyazo.com/007e50186462d6cf2828f5533fba94f4 aw yeah these unnecessary ui changes that i indulge in anyway because im simple and easily entertained
the current problem is, if i buy anything, am i even going to get around to it
Not finishing games or not getting around to play them properly is definitely a thing I can relate.
having a big backlog is always a perpetual problem but the past few years i just kinda have less interest in general in playing things outside of very specific games/series so its like. sure i have stuff on my wishlist thats discounted rn but do i actually want to play them :/a
oh yeah that
Crash Bandicoot for -50% YASSS
spyro too
Due to that I have given myself a strict rule to only add things that I will totally vibe while playing
that's why I added Hylics right into my wishlist before summer sale
MO Astray looks like interesting game and it's -70%
i was just looking at hylics 2 and thinking, hey quick question what on earth am i looking at
Hylics is a jrpg mostly made out of clay? I think. It's one of those games which has quite the artistic style.
its definitely a game of some sort
hylics is the maximum
its like watching a fever dream play out
it's just.......the most a thing can be
I like me some weird odd experiences
Oh yeah, the classic problem of
"I have 20 games I could play, but I kinda dont feel any"
For me it usually goes away once I start playing one of them
its the whole getting around to any of them part thats the hardest
but sometimes i do and i dont even get an hour in before im like, hm still not feeling this
It is, yeah, but usually once I start a game Im gonna keep playing it pretty consistently
Even if I think its mediocre
It has to be truly bad before I drop it looking at you Resonance of Fate
i tend to play a game once for a while, enjoy it, and then never touch it again
for me I usually play a game that I love for days or week
then never touch it again
for example i sat down and played Dragon's Dogma for 3 hours last year
I guess for me it's like a build up of till how far I can go before getting bored of the stuff in there.
and I was like 'this game is pretty dang interesting'
and I haven't touched it since lmao
oh same
I played it for whole 2 hours in the intro and a few bits after you wake up
but if a game is multiplayer I generally tend to play it for a while
and then never touched since November of last year.
Yeah Ive got a bad habit of finishing anything I start, and usually quickly
like I got into Valorant and I've been trying to play it daily consistently
for multiplayers for me at least I need friends to get in and I am sure as hell open to play them whenever I can. Unless I am lazy to go into installing launchers and all that
oh yeah for sure
last year i was in a bad slump and barely had the desire to play anything but picked up hades the moment it popped on steam anyway and immediately pumped dozens of hours in effortlessly. and it kinda knocked out that slump for me and i was able to play some other things on my backlog. hitting a slump again though so its like. looking at the stuff on sale and thinking, where am i gonna find another hades 😔
it's a lot harder to play games that my friends don't play
Ive been playing online games on my own for so long that I rarely play anything with friends
Mostly because they dont play the same things
oh yeah with hades i bought it along with like 4 other games thinking 'oh ill probably play these about equally as much'
oh thats a big mood
the other 4 currently have about 1-4 hours into them (depending on the specific one)
while hades is sitting on 84 hours on steam
Ive played League with friends before, that was a lot of fun
Maybe I should try finding people to play with again
i've been playing league for 5 years and it recently got pretty boring tbh. i moved on to valorant and i only play league occasionally
played Hades over 100 hours now it's a bit hard for me to do more runs and complete stuff.
Ive been playing league since beta
But I stopped doing more than a few games of ARAM like 2 years ago
im just at a point ive accepted i have zero interest in most of the multiplayer stuff my friends play with and even when i do play the same things, trying to get everyone together to play was a hassle so. singleplayer it is
Balance got way worse after they started using win rate as a metric
hah yeah my friends have recently started to only play ARAM and I think that's what has made it boring for me
I've been playing hots despite my friends only playing dota
I think catering solely to higher tiers of play is a pretty good way to ruin the game for most of your players tbh
Game Devs shouldnt be allowed to make balancing decisions without checking in with a statistician first
like 'wow this champion is super op for the top 200 players'
ok so how about the remaining several million that also just happen to play the same game
True, but even for lower tiers win rate is an awful metric thats about as good as a coin flip
also their balancing mentality in general is something i dislike
the idea of 'something is op so lets nerf it' rather than 'lets nerf what actually makes it op' or even better, 'lets buff its counters'
only multiplayer game that I have been playing recently lately is DBD and only really as killer since I don't want to disappoint my team mates.
is that dead by daylight?
yes
Im playing like 5 at any moment
Usually 2 MMOs, a card game, a MOBA and some kinda shooter
I tried to get into card games but I just find them boring
as for MMOs, i'm really only interested in one at the moment and that has had a pretty bad 2 years
can you guess which one 😬
only card games I have gotten into are rogue-lites with cards
WoW?
yep
Im playing GW2 and PSO2 right now
what's PSO2?
Phantasy Star Online 2
Guild Wars 2 is honestly impressive in a way I am surprised not as many people talk about it.
Its a Japanese MMO that got localised 8 years later
i played some gw2 but my unfamiliarity with it as well as the seeming lack of fun endgame content drew me away from it
But its actually aged surprisingly well
By which I mean the gameplay is great, the boss design is great and the graphics still look good enough to not be a total dealbreaker
oh i remember playing phantasy star portable on the psp and that is my only knowledge of that series
if it is at all related
the gw2 combat is super interesting to me
i think that gw2, wow and ffxiv (which i've seen talked about as competitors quite a lot in the past few years) all have their merits
Its very related
Its basically the same concept as the PSP games
Just expanded
A lot more aerial combat, big multi-party bosses
I am shocked you can be a sniper in GW2 and there is no such class thing as "priest"
i have a lot of criticisms for wow, but I think that the endgame content design like raids and dungeons is just miles and miles above everything else out there
I mean
while gw2 has the most interesting combat without making it too bloated
Guardian is basically a priest
well in a sense they don't outright call one a priest and try to be a bit different from the usual MMO formula
yeah some of the classes in gw2 seem strange
but in a good way
like engineer is something i'd expect from MMOs but dont really see anywhere else
They dont call any of the classes their standard names
Its Thief, not rogue, Ranger not hunter, Elementalist not mage
Well ok, they do call Warrior Warrior
ff14 is the best final fantasy game since at least 9, maybe 6
Anyway, Engineer is actually a fairly common class in MMOs
Its only really WoW that doesnt have it
Im not actually sure why
by "engineer" you mean "gun-based"?
Oh yeah, BDO doesnt
BDO is generally low-tech though
Moreso turret or robot-based I guess
But they usually use guns
i think wow really painted itself into a corner by being built initially for warhammer and then making one of the crafting disciplines "engineering"
Except ironically the current best version of Engineer in GW2 uses sword and shield
I mean I honestly don't mind the wow classes or anything
but yeah I mostly play the game for the instances
Honestly GW2s endgame is decent
Its just that there isnt as much of it as in WoW in particular since its stagnated recently
Also on a sidenote, I wish more MMOs had aerial combat
The most fun part is when youre fighting a huge boss and you just dont touch the ground
Slay the Spire 50% off. I'm sure many in here already have it but that is an absolute steal for the amount of hours you can get out of it (after you're finally through with Hades of course which could be awhile lol)
I am an immediate victim of the summer sale :s
🚑
How do you get past Ascension 4 halp
i've only gotten to 20 with ironclad and a lot of that was because of demon form lol
at like 17 with defect from ages ago, started playing again to try out the watcher
@forest stirrup you played monster train yet?
oh no not yet, only have seen brief clips
its rilly good
hmm doom eternal is $29.99, one cent short of the $5 discount
but if I were to add an extremely cheap game like Morphblade, perhaps it'd be worth it
what are some games I can play on my crappy laptop while I wait for my new videocard?
Long Gone Days
I played Ys Origin on a fairly old crappy computer.
@wise cedar everything from the Itch bundle
Dustforce
buying games during the sale gives you points which allows you to buy some pretty neat backgrounds
sigh... money...
i bought the civ 6 bundle like two weeks ago!!
(tbf, it was at summer-sale price already)
oh huh, i have points already?
hmm, I feel like I've seen the steam emoticons related to SGG games somewhere before...
they seem awfully familiar and I just can't seem to put my finger on it
folks
after putting it off for three years...
two days ago i finally finished nier: autopotato
got all the endings, and...
i came back here just to recommend it to everyone here
i assume that everyone here is interested in great games with meaningful storylines and beautiful endings and stuff
and feels...
so many feels
so yeah - if you're into that this game should be right up your alley
steam sales are ruining me
otamatone was great, the remake of replicant coming up is gonna be even better
i'd be shocked if they weren't
oh hey
just checked the steam store page
"Picked by Greg K., Writing/Design: 'Through its impeccable sense of style and meticulously crafted tone, this cyberpunk action adventure ends up leaving a very strong lasting impression.'"
nice
huh
come to think of it
i don't really remember anyone in autotomato swearing that much
besides some odd 💩 here and there, you know
yeah it's part of why it's not as good as replicant
Man
Games like this remind me why it's worth sticking around with this medium
Automata went straight into my top games list - sitting there in no particular order next to mirror's edge , transistor , Undertale and sh2 , soma, bastion, doom 2 and some other
have you played Outer Wilds?
Sorry, I’m gonna delete that kaine video as it is very not appropriate for this server.
I'd joke that the steam sale is gonna empty my wallet but I've been in lockdown since March so yeehaw
replicant has the best intro to all nier games hands down
but automato probably has best emotional payoff at the end
"all nier games" is a total of 2
"all square games" is more impressive and equally true
well i say nier games but really that includes drakengard too
i should have phrased it as drakenier series
Apparently there's a mobile nier game too
Hi! 🙂
quick question, what controller do you use for Windows and MacOS? I need one that works for both
i adore automata
Trust GXT 545 wireless gamepad
Best budget gamepad ever created
Fite me
@austere plover
hahahah thank you!
I may reccomend games later
theme hospital, now there's a blast from the past
my mom got it when i was a kid... i was both hooked and, being a hypochondriac with a strong imagination, somewhat terrified 😂
I need a new videogame friend group but I don't know where to find any
Here ?
If you're into boomer shooters then I'm sure you'll find at least one person to chat with
boomer shooters?
Titanfall 2 has a population again on PC.
You're still running into some weirdos who haven't stopped playing it since 2016 and Ronin is still immensely obnoxious.
yeah
But I played for a few hours last night and really enjoyed it.
I just reinstalled it before my graphics card asploded
the magic of re-release on other platforms is quite something.
Platform is a misnomer, but PC gamers are among the worst people in the world so I'll take it.
I wonder if Mash-E is still hanging around
Titanfall 2 has a population again on PC.
@dire condor
I got it on a sale a year ago
I should do the campaign
Same!
I've heard it's one of the best SP campaigns in a FPS on PC in the last 10-20 years.
20 years is a stretch cuz that includes Halo 3 and Half Life 2
"one of"
fair
Also, Doom 2016.
I mean, personally I give the campaign a 7.5/10
definitely not the best, but also not terrible
TF2 or Doom?
TF2
I've heard it's very short.
Its also a bit heavy handed, IMO
Also does Fallout NV count as an FPS?
Did you ever play the outer worlds?
(not wilds, plz note)
I basically put it on the same level of writing as the outer worlds, but with less gay
which is unfortunate
Obviously Team Fortress 2 is the best shooter
I understand that NV is commonly regarded as the best Fallout game, and that Outer Worlds is basically NV but better, but I had a baaad experience with Oblivion back when it came out so I haven't touched a Bethesda-dev'd game in 15 years.
Eh, The Outer Worlds isn't the best either. Good but y'know, not ideal.
