||Oh, hai! It's been a while. Motivation moved out and took all her stuff with her. Been enjoying lots of games though. The most work on a project I've made recently was on a YT video script. I've made a few YT videos before, so I have an idea of the pipeline, but this would be the first lot of voice one. As a narrator voice, I'm not too bothered by my voice at least. I did ||Sciel buffing Maelle max damage Stendhal to oneshot Phase 1, then do about 70% of phase 2.
Simon wiped the party and backup party has immortal verso to clean it up.||

It's also the same thing Verso wanted to do to the Painted version of Alicia, he gets angry at Maelle for erasing her even though it's what she wanted, saying "I would've convinced her". So I feel like in this case Maelle has convinced him to stay. ||

||the game is a conflict of grieving, it's like how sometimes people can obsess over what remains of the dead. Keep rooms of loved ones as they were for years. Obsess over memories, lose themselves in art or media. It's escapism that can be unhealthy, can rip families apart. There's no right answer to the ending, either way someone is stuck living a life they do not want. Someone exerts their will, their grief, their solution, over someone else's. Someone is lost to a world. It's extremes colliding right, that's what the genre of clair obscur is in the most simple terms. Grief in the form of destruction and anger in conflict with grief in the form of sorrow and an obsessive reliving of the past, of a fantasy.||

||Gamers will see two ending choices and argue which one is Bad. When sometimes choices are just that. Choices. And consequences. No right answers. Only questions, thoughts, and discussions. We hurt eachother in our grief, in our hurt. We become selfish, hard to reach out to, we say things we do not mean, do things we shouldn't, drown in a sorrow that cannot be solved. The whole family is doing this.||

||Like it's all metaphor right, they're not dying from painting etc., the obsession is killing them, breaking their family apart, as they fade away. It's something I have seen many times. Partners of dead loved ones just slowly vanishing from life. Broken hearts and spirits leading to paths to a really depressing end.||

||The family is all right and wrong. The obsession isn't healthy. Like a constant reminder of a room kept exactly the same in real life of a dead loved one. Trashing that room is not a perfect solution. But it can be all you can see, all you can do, when desperation takes hold. When you are afraid and about to lose much more than the person who died. When the rest start fading away. There's no answer that suffices there. There's just cruel choices.||

||They grieve past one another, they can't truly understand eachother in it. They are breaking apart while not seeming to want to. Aline is right that she feels holding on to a memory can be important. Renoir is right that he feels obsessing over it is unhealty, Alicia is right that she feels she has no place where she is at home. Verso is right in that he feels the whole world is burdened by the family's grief, a tool for their needs. They are all same same, but different.||

cause after that you get a lot of really, really cool tech

like - to this day i think this is the only multiplayer shooter in which you can literally paint the entire map red with zombie blood with just 1 or 2% performance slowdown

and the way they did it is so brilliant and simple i'm shocked no one stole that idea from them

ok so usually when you shoot someone in an FPS and they leave a blood splat on a floor or a wall - it's a decal
technically it's a separate object rendered over that surface that the game has to keep in memory - so usually there's a limit on how much blood there can be

and then tripwire came along and was like "now hang on a minute - do we really have to do that?" and they came up with a different solution
when you kill a zed on - let's say - a wooden floor
the game looks up that texture, opens it up, paints that blood splat directly on it and then saves it and loads it back to memory
so no matter if you kill just one zombie there or a 100 - as far as the game knows - it still loads just one material there

only that material changes every time you kill someone there

the downside to this idea is that - it's not instant
usually it takes the game a few frames to """edit""" that texture on the fly
and the ram usage is higher because it still needs to keep a clean version of that wood texture in memory

but on the plus side - it can cake entire maps like this:

but yeah - combine this level of blood with some state-of-the-art physics-based animations for enemies with gorgeous blending

and soft body physics for guts and liquid physics for blood and it's just...

still unmatched even 10 years later

oh cool, Cyberpunk is finally fixing the one feature that i was super disappointed about when it launched:

Autodrive – All vehicles can use this. It will automatically drive you around without touching the wheel, heading to each quest destination or custom points. However, this is rather slow and will follow normal traffic patterns. You can also just set the vehicle to drive totally randomly for I suppose, some sort of chill ASMR relaxation system.

Delamain Taxi – New car service you can call to take you anywhere after you complete that side quest. Same autodrive if for whatever reason you don’t want to drive your own car.

you can't play it completely offline anymore

you can play solo, but you need to connect to the internet to get your character off the server - your levels, your skills and unlocks, you cosmetics and so on

ooohhhhhh that's scummy

it didn't used to be like that

i'm not too worried about the perservation in here - you can still set up a dedicated server on your own machine and play it there
and there were mods for kf1 that allowed you to set up and store your perk levels locally and i'm pretty sure kf2 has something like that too

but the fact that i can't play it offline today - when the game is pretty much still alive and kicking is scummy as all hell

that's one massive feature - an entire gamemode- just completely gone
