few minutes later the main dev told me my save file will have this stamp at the end screen
but man - what an adventure
can't wait for episode 2 to come out
Now why would you omit the fact you play as a beautiful woman? I Will Now Play Your Game
omit?
but don't get your hopes up - she's got like three dialogue lines in the entire game
there's no going back
there's last mag (absolute fire btw - good job writers 👏 👏 👏 )
and AAAAUUURGHGHRG HURRRR HURRR HURRR AUGH HUEA when you get hit really hard
chapter 1 is 22 hours?
i see..... so this is why alma played ultrakill
technically it's more like 30, but some of that was idling, flipping burgers
and i've spent a lot of time looking for secrets
there's a lot of freakin game in this freakin game
and they want to give episode 2 for free
absolutely insane
but yeah - what a fun adventure
i'm gonna do the thing i did with ion fury and list all the dumb stuff i did this run, so:
- i befriended a bunch of roombas and even repaired one
- i took wilson on a sightseeing tour around selaco
- i flipped about 573 trillion burgers
- noclipped out of reality by stacking 11 barrels and hopping over the wall
- clogged up a toliet so hard it exploded, revealing a secret
- chugged so much soda so fast that made me burp so hard it alerted enemies two rooms away

- played some snooker, played some hoops, played some space bro
- and got absolutely rekt in table hockey
- accidentally wasted 1,5k selaco bucks on a fake microtransaction in a minigame
- cleaned up my room
- grew a third arm
- caused a trash tornado
- solved a bunch of puzzles
- threw darts at tim sweeney
- and recycled about 27 teddy bears which made me hallucinate till the end of the game that all of them were swearing at me constantly

oh and then there was a lot of shooting, a lot of screaming and a lot of pink blood
10/10
has star citizen been released? havent heard about it since some time
i don't think it's ever gonna come out
Star Citizen is the modern equivalent of some super rich dude just endlessly funding an artist (in the many many many mediums of art) because it's cool.
Except it's people spending money on a promised product.
no lol its going to stay in perpetual development feature creep hell bc otherwise they wont get the neverending stream of money they do now from people deep in sunk cost fallacy. why do you think they got all these ships costing hundreds of dollars as part of pledge packages (painting your ship costs extra btw) https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/pledge/ships?sale=true&sortField=price&sortDirection=desc
Roberts Space Industries is the official go-to website for all news about Star Citizen and Squadron 42. It also hosts the online store for game items and merch, as well as all the community tools used by our fans.
welp - there's a reason they call it the scam citizen
I think it's closer to cult citizen
there's much better things you could spend your money on
you could - for example - buy a copy of one of the best shooters i've ever played (dead serious here) made by like 6 people
three of them are the same person
and then spend the rest on - i dunno
a brand new car or something
man it‘s just too easy
they still got crunch time
also i thought at least squadron 42 released
prediction: one or more cast members will be dead by the time it releases (if ever)
prediction: we're gonna get some whistleblowers about this in about...
a year
like - someone is gonna come out and spill the beans on how they're never planning on finishing the game and just wanted to get loaded on cash and not invest it into the game
...Romero Games has closed down
Oooohhhh

Video Games Europe, an industry lobby group, is now lobbying against the Stop Killing Games movement. I think we're stirring up the hive.

It’s getting spicy
bahahah
HANG ON
selaco comes with a built-in rando mod!?
oh yeah baby that's the stuff
gimme that on admiral
so...
there's a turret gunning for me in the intro scene
WEAPONS HAVE RARITY TIERS NOW!?
and everything is different
god there's so much game in this freakin game
it's nuts
oh what a hilariously broken mess
nice that was my nickname in high school
peak male performance right there
When i see games in space i think about how i wont will get prey 2 🥲
oh nooo, NOOOOOO
please don't remind me
this was a perfect me game in the making
and they were like 90% done
and then the hostile takeover happened and the thing just died
Yeah i got ptsd always i see space in videogames bc of it i just need prey 2 i guess beeing delusional helps qith that problem so lets just say we will get it someday
There is no war in ba sing se 🥲
that trailer tho
that freakin trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfHCZAK7p-s
The highly anticipated sequel from Bethesda and Human Head Studios, Prey 2, finds former U.S. Marshal turned bounty hunter Killian Samuels running down targets through the vast alien vistas and clustered alleyways of Exodus. Blur was once again charged by Goodness MFG to bring this high octane chase to the big screens of E3 2011.
and the best thing is
they got most of the mechanics you see in there in the game
god i would love to get my hands on that last dev build of the game
We should look for the files and someone else must finish it i need it 😭
Isn't capitalism so cool, gamers?
it's a heat pad
technically not in space it's just a very tall peak in the game
Yeah ok still gave me the prey ptsd tho
Oh someone beat me to it
Ah, they've been salvaged?
If I had a cent for every time MSFT thrashed a studio and said studio got salvaged at the last second... I'd have two cents, which isn't much, but it's...
...no, it's not funny, screw the trillion dollar company, seriously
And this is why SKG is so important
Like - imagine if this was a company that was already hosting an always-online game
That thing would be just unplayable
And screw the lobby that's selling Thor's narrative instead of the real thing, too
Awesome, they can keep working on nothing like before
Well outside of...that one mafia Paradox game
Yeah apparently they have some super secret project no one dares to mention ?
Cause th at last mafia game didn’t go too well
huh
interesting
did you guys know 2016 revenants had carry handles?

like a suitcase or something
now you can take your rev anywhere with you!
okay - this is rather unrelated
barely even videogames, but...
blender thinks i've got problems that need fixing
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/226831135802392577/1392191136826921111/image.png?ex=686ea288&is=686d5108&hm=75fecd48a58a181137055057872c3cb40d5336ec1b0162842b52d89c52514a28&

there's... so many jokes i could make about this, i don't even know where to start
hi
happy to help
god i love this rando mode
idk bim i thought the game is always like that
nah it's usually not that dumb
i don't remember having to hide under a desk and punch anyone who comes around in the nuts to survive a gunfight in normal mode
i brought fists to a gunfight!
must be one sturdy desk
i do have a gun that makes enemies bleed money when i hit them with it
and i do mean hit - not shoot
woah...
borderlands wishes it had weapon randomisation as good as this game has in this throwaway bonus mode
breaking: bethesta threatens to make a new fallout game
Ono
avg office day for me
in other news:

soma on... switch?
the first one?
that game is like a decade old and it's never looked... worse
i mean - i'm glad more people will get to experience this wonderful title, but...
there's better ways of doing this
i saw this one lmao https://bsky.app/profile/timm.cool/post/3ltcfezbf2c2h
what am i looking at
erm
good texture resolution
you guys dont get it. this is retro. retro is cool
this looks worse than that super scuffed early pc build that i had to play at like
540p at less than minimal settings to even get a whiff of 60 fps
COOL SECRET

oh the joys of rando modes
Bro death’s door 100% is gonna be the end of me 💀 💀 💀 😭 😭
I have to collect 50 things then plant those 50 things
in cyberpunk, sometimes there's a downtime between main mission. It's for you to do side gigs and it's justified with in-game world. It's cool. Thing is... I've already done all side gigs
and now there's a delay
I just
Dang
One of best aspects of Cyberpunk, it allows you to spend some time with the world and doesn't feel forced
I should replay it one day, especially as I've played it on freaking Xbox One with all patches that console version got which was...not that much
Wouldn't call it early, I've played it like 2 years ago so it had all the possible patches rolled out already and it worked fine...most of the time...
Wha
Listen that production is taking a while they’re probably running out of funds
God this whole Silksong drama is so fun to observe from the sidelines
wait i thought it was out
What's going on about Silksong?
Nah it doesn’t even have the release date yet
epic pacing... i'm onto the final levels... i pull a lever, and a text appears: "19 levers left"
my characters keeps saying 'wow so many levers they must protect something crazy'
now i pulled every lever except one and i have to backtrack through the entire area to find it.......... pacing...............
That cat looks like me when I tried phantom fury
Or phantom pain
Or phantom in the opera
@ocean iris bruh
Anyway, I tried to lighten my mood a bit by playing Acts of Blood demo
to my surprise, it's by Indonesian dev
I found a funny tidbit
the english voice over is wildly different than the Bahasa counterpart
EN: "sigh here we go again."
Bahasa (translated by yours truly): "Shut up, dog, I'll kill you."
What is it about ?
Wait
Acts of blood
That’s that sifu looking beat them up, right ?
yes
Still demo
Ah
i have created a doomba!
a claymore roomba!
GO FORTH MY CHILD!
GO FORTH AND LAY WASTE TO OUR ENEMIES!
god i love those little goobers so much
im gonna buy myself a roomba and call it gaming merch
Hey it was running on 30fps...during exploration...let's say when bullets started flying and god forbid fire particles started to come out it went choppy-choppy
listen - i will always keep making fun of that release
i was working retail when that whole thing went down
and yes - i was there when we had to pull it off shelves
so - you know
that release is a bit of a sore spot for me
uh
should i...
<@&456908176877551658> ?
i dunno it's looking kinda sus

It's legit but it's just some mediocre gacha slop
i remember before the game launched this one dude came by
30-something, he was with his kid
Get out with that
he had a cyberpunk shirt on and gave his kid that yellow hat
and he was so hyped before the game came out
No future child of mine will be into gacha games especially hoyoverse
That is my vow
aaaaaand then they told us to take it off the shelves and when people came back for returns - i saw him there, in the crowd
i felt so bad for that dude

This reminded me tho to check out CDPR Store, I kiiinda wanted to get some CP77 merch, it looks good
Gachas are just MMO's but like...100 times more predatory when it comes to microtransactions
That crap* is going in there into macro levels
yeah i just checked it out and it's... fine?
not quite my style
but jesus christ - the pricing
150 pierogi bucks for a simple t-shirt?
come on, man
368 pierogis for a hoodie!
Something something irony something something game themes about corpos bad
But yeah it do be pricey
yeah
I remember a story where a girl spent 20,000$ to get Raiden shogun from genshin impact (she used her dads money)
She didn’t get it at the end of the day
Ha!
funny thing - this is another work-related thing i have to deal with now at my current job
i get multiple angry parents every month being all like
why is my bill so high!? YOU THIEVES!
and it's like
15 google play store purchases for vbucks or some crap like that
Unironically I am scared about Asian countries, I've seen some documentary where people in there already live in a cycle of waking up-checking their gacha games on a phone, spend some money while at it- go to work- come back- check games- sleep- repeat
But it produces so much money noone will stop it
most of us live like that already
just switch gatcha to socials or youtube or whatever gets you doomscrolling
it's not a place thing
it's a general dystopian future of 2025 kind of thing
this makes me wonder
how would SKG affect gatcha games?

Daily touching grass will be mandatory one day
@long hearth finished e33 endings and a buncha side content. lay it on me
you can dm me or write spoilered messages here each is fine :)
for the record the ending i chose to see first was ||a life to paint (because i had a feeling thats the ending my friend didnt pick, so he also saw it for the first time||
im glad i saw that one first it was crazy i liked it. then i cried like a baby for a reason unbeknownst to me
I've been playing Expedition 33, almost finished
my feelings are kinda mixed I think
I’m also interested to hear
but as maelle often says, parry Spoiler it!
And maybe I’ll read everyone’s thoughts tomorrow… my head hurts so much and I definitely need sleep -__- ow
I'm currently deep into Act 3 just running around and doing everything.
The negatives:
||1. It's definitely not the most polished game. Animations while running around are pretty jank, and you'll just get stuck on stuff a lot. The open world attacks will whiff so often, and the attack/shot mechanic just feels kind of stiff.
2. It's an Unreal game that often lacks the unique sauce, so you'll see a lot of these rough rock and metal textures that just feel "generic"
3. The combat is cool but kind of broken. Feels like you either do no damage, or 2 shot them. Parrying is satisfying, but parrying 8 hits in a row is kind of tedious. I also with there were more projectiles instead of slashes, those feel more fair.
4. The UI is kinda bad. A lot of stuff could be streamlined
5. I do enjoy how much content there is in the game, but I feel like it could be spread out a bit more evenly. A lot of areas especially feel underbaked. Walking into a place with a cool name, only for it to give a single item and nothing else is just kinda lame.
6. The reveal of information is, imo, too slow and gradual. The player is kept too much in the dark for too long.
7. Probably budget limitations, but the party doesn't get enough time to express themselves outside of camp. The amount of dialogue when wandering zones is oddly limited too. A lot of locations just won't have any lines, or only a few lines at the beginning.||
- is why I spent the whole time thinking "this should just have been on the Octopath 2 art style"
- I don't mind because ||I'm basically treating this game as "Rhythm Heaven came out a year early" LOL||
- ||I think pacing is generally fine but act 3 is indeed too lore-dumpy||
Positives:
||1. Damn, parrying feels really good.
2. The music is good. It's not with the greats, because it's not as catchy or memorable, but it's very atmospheric and gets you emotional at the right times.
3. The customization is crazy. You really can go nuts. I'm surprised a small team even decided to make their combat system go THIS far. Usually stuff like this is saved for an expansion lol.
4. The intro to Act 3 is excellent, and does a really great job of explaining everything. Why the world is so weird, what's going on with Renoir's family and the curator/paintress, everything just clicks together and makes sense. It's also both cliche and unique. The world is the battleground of all-powerful Gods, but they are humans grieving the death of a loved one painting a world.
5. There really is a lot of content in this game. Act 3 is pretty beefy, although spread out.
6. I really enjoy the characters. Esquie and Monoco are just so great, and the Gestrals in general are a really fun concept. The rest of the party is pretty good too, I just wish they had more time to shine outside of camp.||
though I'm kind of surprised that so many people were like "omg what an amazing twist" because I caught on pretty quick that ||the world "isn't real" just from how so many doors all connect to the same mansion.||
||i also casually just guessed "oh Maelle is probably the child of Renoir and the Paintress, since they both care about her so much||
maybe it's just because I've read too many mystery stories for my own good, I felt the hints were so obvious that I spent most of the game thinking those were red herrings and there's got to be another twist, and then there wasn't
I knew there was a twist, I just couldn't really predict it. ||I thought Renoir and Verso and Alicia were real the whole time, basically, and that Maelle was connected somehow. I also couldn't figure out how the Paintress connected to that family, and thought she was separate.||
||I really enjoy the idea that there are real and painted versions of each member of the family. It was fun getting my noggin thinking about how everyone fits into this weird double family tree.||
I haven't gone into ||Lumiere|| yet so idk what happens next.
I did luck out with ||the Maelle prediction, because I thought the grey Alicia was actually a smaller form of the paintress, which she uses to move around better when needed||
Although, is having characters ||realize they're fictional and fight for their existence like, cliche now? I've seen it a couple times now.||
I feel similarly as #2 - it's good because it's inspired by Nier's OST, which is good, but since I already heard Nier OST this is "just" more of the similar vibe
Hm idk, it just doesn't have those catchy and strong melodies I'm looking for
『NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139...』の数量限定版「White Snow Edition」に同梱されるサウンドトラック「Soundtrack Weiss Edition」Disc 1の収録曲「泡沫ノ言葉 - Another Edit Version」です。
The first syllable of the Spring Meadows track is literally the same as this one
Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade, Persona, Pokemon, there are so many jrpgs filled to the brim with earworms
This article has some interesting points about steam that I was somewhat aware of but didn't really consider
https://www.pcgamer.com/software/platforms/modder-behind-the-swiss-army-knife-of-pc-gaming-deletes-their-20-year-old-steam-account-with-anti-valve-manifesto-by-the-end-of-my-bitter-dealings-with-valve-there-was-zero-hope/
To each their own ofc but I’m a huge fan of nier drakengard and so on and I think the music in e33 is awesome
Replicant has some insane songs that really cannot be beat…
I just didn’t really feel like it was “more of the same” or “trying to be nier” you know? It does not hide the inspiration but I feel like it’s not too samey
This one especially. And I love replicant to bits, but how many times is yoko taro going to make ||a huge boss that wants to be beautiful or human for someone she loves so she eats people.|| girlboss. Idk
wait I have so many messages I want to individually reply to but I just woke up and I don’t want to make a wall of messages
LOL
The opera singer in automata didn’t eat humans
… mostly because there weren’t any left, but still
I do
I’m just being smug
Anyway I’ll get my opinions down I’m just still ruminating about the entire game… will play it again myself when my controller deigns to arrive, considering I’ve been getting “your package is coming TODAY” messages like 3 days in a row now …
also my cat is sitting on my computer chair so it is simply not possible right now
my cat is right I need more sleep really really bad
Ah yes, it's the new classic, "ackshually! ☝️ 🤓 "
Alright I'm caffeinated give me a hot minute I need to get my thoughts in order
Okay so, a lot of my dislike comes from a few key things in like... escalating order, to summarise and to a degree simplify them:
-
||Firstly, the juxtaposition of the endings heavily privileges Verso's perspective over Alicia's. Sandfall are not subtle about which ending they believe to be the more 'morally correct' of the two — even the names of the endings are in on it.||
-
||Secondly, leading on from that, they are trying far too hard to be clever with the 'Une vie à rêver' thing as 'oh yeah Verso ruined the golden ending'. It makes the entirety of Act 3 into a retrospective farce that was never going to succeed.||
-
||Segueing on from that, Act 3 simply does not give the slightest f-word about Lumiere or the Lumierans. They get no narrative focus, they get no space, they don't even get to really speak up in defence of their own right to exist — the focus is entirely on the Dessendre family drama and frankly I never liked any of them save Maelle. Sciel doesn't even have an Act 3 character quest and Lune's is literally just a worm in a cave.||
-
||Which leads into one of my two genuinely very major problems: the game is, at best, only half-aware of just how awful Verso is as a person. If it was more aware, it would not use him as a 'correct' mouthpiece in the finale. I'm genuinely convinced the director is to at least some degree treating him as their precious SI-OC, which I do have some supporting evidence for but that's kind of tangential — why are Sciel and Lune screwing him (at least Sciel and him were FWB beforehand but Lune certainly wasn't) after he genocided their entire people, again?||
-
||And the last and most important one is inextricably linked to that in that... Renoir and Verso are consistently presented as the 'rational' ones in their grief, they are simply more correct than Maelle and Aline and they are right when they override the agency of the Dessendre women — it is, in fact, for their own good!||
Combine the last bit with ||Lune and Sciel's inexplicable desire to ride the Verso pony in Act 3, how Verso is fundamentally correct to suppress Maelle's agency one last time in Act 3 — making her storyline into an incredibly frustrating coming-of-age story that never actually allows the protagonist to self-actualise — and a bunch of other little things and this 'complex narrative' starts to look an awful lot like 'contempt for women'||
anyway that's why it gave me flashbacks to why I loathe contemporary french literature, so much of what it does wrong is exactly what I hate about that, particularly ||the misogyny||
i disagree with a lot of this/saw it very differently especially ||about one ending being more favorable|| but i dont want to debate it, i only finished the game once yesterday and i want to process it more + the main thing i wanted was just to hear your opinions about it, because you talked about it while i was still in the middle of the game... so i was excited to hear it all once i was finished :)
im pretty curious about the SI-OC theory tho
my favorite characters from the game (that are not protags, because that is cheating) were ||lune and clea||
but i like all of them, they make my head hurt
btw all of the above is about expedition 33 just in case someone drops here to this wall of conversation and has no idea whats going on. so i guess, be warned, if you dont want spoilers dont click em gamers
by the way, very ironically, this game killed my want to draw so hard, bc i posted my fanart for it online and someone left a comment i thought was so nasty that i got upset and got rid of my entire art blog LOL
Is expedition 33 really that good ?
oh noooo
Like
You nuked the entire blog ?
it is not accessible

i have drawn a total of 2 scraps since last month and its kinda sad bc artfight is going on right now and i was excited to participate for months
screw that commenter!!!
it was quite bleak
not even mean just gross
but whatevs 🤷 maybe its for the best and ill learn to create for myself again. without posting for validation, to simplify it
my entire post was criticism so :v
and that sucks AD, hope you feel better :c
yeah what you said about avoiding fandoms is very real it seems
which i knew. but i never learn!
anyway the supporting evidence for this beyond how he's written is the following images:
one is very early concept work for expedition 33, the other is a promotional image featuring the director,
||https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/562698780022013972/1387849551318089828/7dmplfzmwa9f1.jpg?ex=6870a35e&is=686f51de&hm=fd1bc67dfc2576b78109f466f957ac07083f849b9c6ae1c6c47c1a1a36fa270e&||
||https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/562698780022013972/1387849720579358791/maxresdefault.jpg?ex=6870a386&is=686f5206&hm=d8ad7ef50f0e90fafa95ffe5f61968213c6bed1a6d84302f1c271623a6370d1d&||
and then the third image is what the director looks like now:
I think the most interesting thing if you're looking for something to chew on narratively, as an aside
is that I think ||the game considers Lumiere's story over after Act 2. That's why Act 3 pays them no mind and that is why the game system breaks in half in Act 3, it's entirely intentional||
||You're no longer playing a brave band of adventurers trying to avert an apocalypse against impossible odds, you're playing as a girl playing god and her imaginary friends. Of course you can trivially defeat everything!||
(still very major Expedition 33 spoilers for latecomers)
bro likes some great games
demon's souls my love
demon's souls being on there feels kinda like signaling ngl like, that game was jank
you wouldnt get it 🚬
ds1 exploded because they finally made the concept with gameplay that didn't feel like being hit with a brick-
(seeing the ||simon|| fight right now, i see why its there)
feels like a homage. very souls-esque but what do i know
||see, simon feels like mostly an artorias homage to me?||
The purist in me makes me say I kinda hate anything after Dark Souls 1 lmao
At least anything souls related
I do think it's kind of funny that people talk 'soulslike' when they mean, specifically, Dark Souls 3-like
DS1 was an exploration game more than an action game
Dark Souls 2 and 3 are asscheeks
The duality of man LMAO
like 'oh yeah you gotta play the souls series it's got some great bosses' you mean ds3 does
'the combat is quick and responsive and there's all these combos' you mean ds3 does
like don't get me wrong Gwyn is iconic but ds3 is the only souls game that actually lives up to its modern reputation, because the other two games were just not like that
Yeah but that kinda proves my point
This has to be the first post I’ve seen that’s really critical of French Fantasy
As jank as DeS was, the atmosphere and music was so relaxing
God I love PS3 games
im not a ds knower but i believe you! i guess its like saying, idk, maybe demons souls got him into the rest of it. i dont know that guy
ye that's fair, I assume he played both but putting ds1 down would look like pandering
regardless the atmosphere of that entire thing is like okayyyy and i only played elden ring
But yeah Dark Souls 1 isnt just a game to me
It's a pilgrimage :3
because it has a bit of a rep as a game people who don't play games claim for credit
It's my comfort game unironically
Oh I’m gonna fight you on this so hard
I’ll die on that janky ds2 hill
by the way, play pentiment and e33 back to back for an awesome time
During launch there were like ten posts a day hating on it for like, one of those points on the subreddit the hivemind just didn't agree so they went to oblivion.
DS2 has like 3 good looking areas brochacho
Oh come on it had way more than that
if you want some funnier, less analytical criticism this did make me crack up (again, very major spoilers for expedition 33)
||https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/562698780022013972/1391501989497798698/verso-on-newgame-was-really-eye-opening-v0-x8y2exf10bbf1.png?ex=6870bdf7&is=686f6c77&hm=ce6211a0d2c3887eead371e3b3d57466eab89eacc97aa53721b83458ac97fab1&||
a part of pentiment where you can choose between dialogue options ||can you ever picture someone clearly if you love them/can you ever picture someone clearly if you hate them|| i will literally never recover from this its over for me bro its literally over
Although it has equally as many sinkers, I’ll admit
pentiment is so good I wish I actually liked it
Im playing Baldur's Gate 3 legitimately for once
I love this game
lmao
He was absolutely wasted during that shoot
its strange to play
but its a masterpiece (haha get it)
playing it again recently (not for achievements, but just to see it again) had me in shambles ngl
it's genuinely wonderfully crafted it's just a bit too far out of my strike zone which surprised me because I normally can play any game and appreciate it
it wants you to sit and think too much I think-
i think focusing so much on completionism right after i finished it made me gloss over a lot. but my god
pentiment spoilers ||every post i see saying "who is objectively the person who REALLY did it" pisses me off|| when thats like, the point
its not objective and there are no "best choices/outcomes"
i was going to make a long message but then it hurt my brain so bad. its a good game... i recommend people play it even if its not usually their thing
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1205520/Pentiment/
you still have a chance... 🕵️
From Obsidian, this game is a historical narrative-driven game focusing on character development, heavily stylized art, and choice-driven storytelling in early 16th century Bavaria. Players will play as Andreas Maler, a clever illustrator caught up in a series of murders in Tassing and Kiersau Abbey over the course of twenty five years. Players…

speaking of Peak
that game is hard as hell
but so damn fun
I love friendslop
i made some last minute sale purchases and i finally got wanted: dead. and also flintlock the siege of dawn
it is not among them no

Were you stalking my gaming activity on Discord and decided to get Flintlock because I play it right now?
But anyhow, have fun with it
It's pretty...okay at best. Combat is flashy and fun tho so that is the most important part
no but thats very funny LOL thanks for the short rundown! i got it because it was on a deep discount and it seemed cool when i saw the trailer years ago. also i just wanted it. it was staring back at me from my wishlist...
so, uh...
apparently roombas can't hoover up live grenades

they just use them as hats
Very short one indeed but basically if you like souls-likes you should like it
Well it's technically a "souls-lite"
its not a genre i seek out specifically, but the game looks cool yayy
short is great
guh and just as i say it, they publish a new point n click https://x.com/daedalic/status/1943356019444219950
point and click adventure like the good ol days

- gets flashbacks to crappy point and clicks of the nineties *
daedalic‘s been pretty great at polishing them
that's good
we arent in the verb era anymore, grandpa…
speaking of being a grandpa
can i post a replay of a cool fight i just had in a gzdoom boomshoot?
back in my days, we needed to film our screens with vhs recorders…
yeyeyeyeye
calm down there, sandy
and look at this crap
https://youtu.be/C4YEZOLLwlA?si=ZHjzM2xBzwD-cLl4
look at it
this is in a throwaway bonus randomiser mode you unlock after finishing episode 1
and it still produces fights this cool
doom eternal wishes it was half as exciting to play as this thing

i always save a replay of this fight on my every run
it's that fun to play
Did you report him!
i dont think its something i can report or is worth reporting i just blocked and moved on
well i nuked my account and then moved on. its ok
Oh ok
Do you want me to suggest some characters to draw?
Just so you can get back into the habit
sure! i think putting my tablet away is also not helping with motivation to plug it back in
but i think if i draw anything this month if i manage will be art fight
The witch ulsamir from doom the dark ages gives of heavy Hecate vibes in her design
Red from transitioner with the red angry bird would be a funny one
That’s all I’ve got for now sorry
Or lune from expedition 33 but I understand if you don’t wanna do that
the last thing i drew was still for e33 but i lost motivation. could have been great tho
is this the lofi girl?
yep thats what i was going for
neat
i need to start pentiment!
and also misericorde
The year is 1482.
The age of exploration and enlightenment is on the distant horizon and the Renaissance is in full swing across Europe; but in England, the War of the Roses is in its final throes. Change is coming, but in one little convent in the north of the kingdom, everyone has seemed blissfully unaware.

wtf i wasn't even thinking about it
do you know how implausible that sounds
I'm playing Expedition again and I recalled another issue I have, at least in endgame.
||Pictos and weapons have too much stats, to the point that it makes leveling feel relatively unimportant.
Like 90% of my character power is from my gear and equipped skills, not the leveling choices I've made||
||you can hoard so many recoats that the levelling does not seem to really matter when youre really up there||
||yeah, and the best option most of the time is to just completely pump stats into your 3 dps stats, which I think is just kinda lame. What the stats do is of relatively little importance.||
yeah thats real though ||its does seem like leveling is the add-on to skills and not the opposite||
||unless youre playing as maelle and then you can solo anything in one turn no matter what||
||like Verso got his level 33 weapon. He has about 10.4k power. At level 85, with optimal stats pumped, 9.2k of that power is from the weapon, and the small remainder is stats.||
||pictos are so important to your survivability that if it kind of removes the idea of equipping Expensive pictos a lot of the time. You'll be equipping bad pictos just because they're level 28-30ish. If you forget to equip a speed one, you just won't get a turn for forever. If you forget to get a defense one, you'll just be oneshot.||
||It just feels odd to me for my character's health to suddenly plummet by 3/4s because I swapped a piece of gear out.||
expedition 33 spoilers ahead (secret boss)! ||if you know what makes up this build i desparately need to know||
my friend found it randomly today and i just stared in awe no idea what is going on
doesn't look too crazy. ||You just stack solo, gradient, AP, Follow up turns, and shot luminas on what appears to be Contorso. You can farm enough Gradient to do level 3 every time before the boss can go||
you are right by the way and i did decide to report this person just now. all i can do from here is wait and see if something gets done
Ok! And did the suggestions help at all?
for art? I ended up doing nothing but I want to keep them in mind
It does bring some cool idea to mind
Well I basically 100%'d Expedition 33
I beat ||simon(Using guides and extremely cheesy builds)||
The only thing I haven't done is do all the fights in ||the tower.||
I've still got mixed feelings but I think the game is very laudable for having such a small team with so much ambition
I definitely kinda spoiled the gameplay parts of the ending by doing all the side content lol. ||I was level 85 going into Lumiere. I like, 4shot everything, with 100k max damage and 5x hp.||
This will make a fine addition to my collection
dude
Dror Ragzlin is such a b to deal with in baldur's gate 3
i literally liquidate the other boss with all her minions and knock out minthara
and then this mf
with his impossible to infiltrate arena
and his 75 hp ass
yeah that's it im lowering the difficulty i died like 5 times
did i also mention he one shots pretty much everyone
is that the big barbarian type guy in the goblin cave
yes
i grouped the smaller enemies.up.and dropped the chandelier things on the ceiling down and then 4v1 seemed to work
while also never using long rests so I just used normal attacks and throwing potions to get the downed allies back up
feels like doing honorable fights is just punished on higher diff
It’s great ||and probably a piece of cake if you’re approaching level cap and have cheesy builds||
also wow idk when you started playing but you really blitzed through the game
Marvel rivals season 3 is out!
@mighty orchid are tadpoles worth consuming?
It makes one dice roll harder, while giving a lot of power to you. Passive and active stuff.
It is roleplay wise, on lower diff I didn't use any tadpoles, higher diff its nice to have some extra options and buffs.
i play on balanced
spoiler territory so I won't explain further
i read enough
all i wanna know is
what kinda skill check is it
wisdom?
ah you know what
i'll let my party members have em
i am a pure paladin!
that is also a way to handle it
I always felt like one worm is one too many as is, too
Should I have Astarion become my crazy ass tadpole eating bastard?
Excuse me, CONSUMING
That guy is so excited to have worms crawl inside his brain
im gonna make him a psychic assassin
Do what feels cooler for your rpg experience
to be fair
only the 3 founders got booted
this might screw over the rest of the devs
but then again i doubt anyone really cares that much
this is not at all a za/um situation
What happened?
Krafton got the heads of the dev studio fired
And pushed it back till next year
When “coincidence” the dev team was about to get a 250 million dollar bonus
to clarify this a bit
||you grotesquely overpower everything in the endgame even if you beeline straight there, it's only a very slight step up from the act 2 end dungeon and you have painter's power now, so...||
there's this fake idea people are putting out that you should rush the ending because otherwise 'the gameplay is ruined' and that is just not how it works
||I beelined the ending precisely because of that and no I still just walked through the final dungeon like it was a breeze||
my E33 kinda hot take about the endings, in light of certain current events is ||it's basically a sanitized version of "I fed my dead son/brother's voice and texts into chatgpt to deepfake him", but since the game handwaves over this process with "oh it's Magic™!" it gives an air of organicness to something that a lot of people feel disgusted by||
||like there's already articles of people hurting their irl relationships because they can't stop talking with chatgpt||
||the people who don't like Verso ending usually say it's because everyone in the canvas is sentient, but modern chatbots also feel pretty sentient. There's probably a rabbit hole in this||
is this like a detective VN
It is not a vn
Not exactly detective either
There is investigation and mystery but I don’t think it’s necessarily about that. It’s very good tho
I’m a bit confused by your wording
||is it being “magic” and feeling organic a good or a bad thing?||
Oh wait
Actually I don’t know nevermind
I feel like what you said is the closest real life analogy as it gets
Ugh..that's awful.
Yeah BG3 is like, lowkey an immsim so never play fair
||yeah I personally think the ending is pretty cut and dry. I wish the Lumierans argued more for their existence, they are pretty passive in act 3. But I just think that the Dessendre Family is more "real" then the canvas. The Canvas is basically a VR simulation with Verso's like, save data in it or something, and Maelle and Aline are clearly horribly addicted to it, which just isn't a healthy way to grieve. I wish there was a middle route, but Verso's ending is the best option for Maelle, who just matters more here than the rest of the party.||
I REALLY hope they won't pull off such crap with Tango
||I liked from a story point that they don’t get argue for it. Well, that’s because it would have been a different story if they did that aside from their yearly expeditions and also because it is now clearly futile||
||I chose maelle’s ending first, where verso just begs her to kill him. Say what you will but it’s just a heartbreaking performance, it certainly broke mine. But in verso’s ending these companions that you as a player actually got to know and bond with and grieve with and spend the game with them instead of just encountering them in small and nebulous glimpses. they don’t even “protest”, it’s clear there is no point. they just have no choice but to come to terms with their painted existence in the very last moment before they’re erased. not by the gommage that they fought against but knew might catch up to them, but by and for people who they’ve been traveling with||
||so it’s the best ending for the dessendres and verso gets what he wanted and it’s about moving on. But it’s not actually sweet and heartwarming as a player…||
Maybe I’m talking drivel idk I’m on mobile and I just woke up
||in verso’s ending, lune’s reaction hurts me the most, he wants to say his goodbyes to her but she’s clearly so upset and unwilling to accept her imminent and inevitable end. She sits down and glowers at him, almost like an upset child, I don’t know why it made me so sad||
||while sciel’s life philosophy now is just to accept and move with things as they are even if it hurts. I don’t think she was fine with it, but she knew she had no choice at that point and also that it was not her choice to make||
Idk man I like the other characters as well, I really do, but I came to love lune so much
ah I meant that ||it made Maelle's ending feel a lot more palatable. She's not losing her life to a deepfaked world, all her painted friends are "naturally" created (vs artifically)||
||I guess my hot take is that I think the paintresses have more inherent importance over the painted people||
||I'm generally all for "fictional characters deserve to live too" but idk bro it feels different this time||
||The world would only exist because Maelle, basically the new goddess of the canvas, doesn't want to stop existing in a make believe world||
ya I think it's the difference between ||"these characters are fictional to us, but real in their universe" and "these characters are fictional in their own universe"||
i see I see ||it’s just my perspective but it did not feel palatable to me. For her and everyone she “deepfaked” back, they’re her creation now, they’re not nice and happy by being brought back to life - that’s just the way she painted them back in. But they’re still all happy, except for verso who she’s too blinded by grief and escapism to realize she’s hurting him||
||it also essentially means all of her “real” remaining family lost her as well||
I think it really blurs because of this
||Also poor kid/curator Verso has to keep painting||
yeah I meant in a sense of, ||there's a group of people who prefer the Maelle ending/think it's fine, who would not have done so if the painted world had been presented as AI generated||
or another way ||the ending choices would have been much less contested if that were the case||
I guess my point is ||the endings are about dealing with grief with either acceptance or escapism, and while obviously irl too acceptance is better, it’s still painful along the way, all the time. It’s just that on top of that you have to lose more to get to that acceptance in the first place. Idk how to word this, someone smarter than me explain||
yeah I get what you mean, I'm more commenting on the general playerbase sentiment, not anything particular to you
I actually saw a comment that said ||"Verso ending is basically pulling the wifi plug so that your sister can get over her internet addiction" lmao||
||thinking it’s fine is insane tho LOL it’s straight up frames like a horror movie. It did not even cross my mind that it’s “fine” even if I thought it was a good narrative end to the story. Which idk I think the other ending is the same but when you step back, is that not unfair too? Like I said it’s good for the dessendres, not everyone you started the game siding with and playing as||
yeah especially the redditors who said ||"as a sci-fi fan I preferred Maelle's ending" like hello you folks should have especially caught the cyber-dystopia-adjacent vibe||
Yeah I decided to step back from the playerbase’s opinions Fast
I use tumblr more than reddit so if you know the different environments you’ll probably get why
||”fiction does not affect reality” people when they are faced with a game in which fiction absolutely affects reality in many ways, but they don’t want to see it because it’s suddenly inconvenient to apply that logic to real life|| as per usual
||Have decades of simulated world stories not taught them anything lol||
||But yeah in the Renoir fight I kept thinking "wait does Maelle have like, a single good point here?"||
Ahhh i understand what you’re getting at now though, about how it’s presented
This may be because it’s not a sci fi tech-y story so different logic needs to be applied
never change Reddit
||”just one more game dad then I’ll go to bed I promise”||
||Still, I've seen stories that do the fictional fictional characters realize that they're fictional, and try to rebel. Danganronpa, Undertale, and Truman Show all come to mind. There's probably others I can't recall rn.||
before I finished the game ||I kept seeing people say he’s a terrible dad and just the further in I got the further I was just baffled at like, how do you even get that from this game at the end||
||I wonder if they're talking about painted renoir or real||
I hate marking spoilers on mobile
yeahhhh ||I played undertale too ages ago and I loved it… but Truman show is more fresh in my mind. I knew nothing about it before I started watching and when I finished it I was speechless||
ikr it’s really inconvenient and hard to see
I do think a trope can be tired if enough people make stories about it that are all about the same, but I like seeing different spins on the same core concept
this feels like reading a classified document
ALL of the scp-looking document above is about expedition 33 btw for people who do not want to see spoilers for it
LOL
I get it
bahah
When I’m on the other side of this and everyone is talking about something I don’t want to be spoiled in, it’s so tempting to click just to see what people are having such a secretive discussion about
Yeah, I straight-up just hopped on TVTropes.
||no but you see this story is different because this world is made using magic, which is good, unlike technology, which is bad /s||
man I should watch the truman show, it sounds interesting
Pretty good, very ahead of its time
It's head-and-shoulders Jim Carrey's best movie.

"fiction doesn't affect reality" and "don't criticize fan works", the two of many horsemen of the fandom media literacy apocalypse
jesus christ wtf happened here?
video games
you guys got fired from fbi or something?
expedition 33 spoiler talk
ah
close enough
bideo gaems
GÆMS
whats the tvtropes for fictional fictional characters
Bims (short for bideo games)
Unironically a more sane acronym than many I see on the daily
well look at the bright side
at least you got a day off from me posting about selaco
nooooo you don’t get it my ao3 story ignoring the canon message completely and pushing the entire game aside for the sake of making characters kiss is above criticism because everyone who doesn’t like it is booooooring

Well. I’m not actually against just getting what you want out of the story or at least engaging in it however you want. I just think some people need a reality check
I think it's just an extension of one of my usual concerns/criticisms, where people are finding themes and substance where there really is none
hey bim we should always spoiler our convos like this
Overall I'm not sure where Expedition33 lands on my mount olympus of jrpgs, and I'm also not sure if I'd exactly call it masterpiece tier
why tho
the article that called it j'rpg got a real laugh out of me
but that aside, what are your favorite games? rpg or not
idk but chrono trigger might be my favorite jrpg
Top 10 games of all time
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Hades
- Doom the dark ages
- Ultrakill
- Doom eternal
- Destiny 2
- Hollow knight
- Star Wars Jedi survivor
- Spider man 2
- The legend of Zelda breath of the wild
I've played 8k hours of D2 and I love it but I don't know if I can put it on my top games lol
it's very
unique
That’s fair
yeah I have no idea what to put on my top 5 or top 10 lol, there's too many
my sheet says I've played 260 games that I recall and most of them were at least good to great
HM
Baldurs gate 3
Metroid Dread
Mario and Luigi bowsers inside story
Sonic x shadow generations
Dying light
Jurassic world evolution 2
God of war 2018 (still need to play ragnorok)
MASS EFFEEEEEECT
or Fallout 1
Hades, Hollow Knight, Paper Mario 64, Mega Man Legends, Final Fantasy X.
can i plug the beginner's guide again even tho i probably do that in every conversation about video games ever
and its not even an rpg
I guess I'll try to go with games people haven't said yet:
Ace Combat 7, Resident Evil 4, Balatro, Undertale, Monster Hunter World Iceborne
I put beginner's guide in the "like, kinda not a game, kinda is a game" bucket
Another 5: Sekiro, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, The Finals, Black Mesa, Factorio
That's 7 tho
Based??
I am surprised that after success of Stanley Parable more people didn't check it out
stanley parable was funny though, and beginner's guide sorta isn't, it's much more trying to communicate a message
I need to play Ultra Deluxe still.
Stanley Parable is kind of a perfect streamer/reaction game
I...guess so
It's better than 100th Among Us ripoff for cheap reactions that's for sure
I mean I think Outer Wilds and Undertale are also perfect reaction games lol, people love watching people play those for the first time
maybe, but it lands solidly in my "must play for everyone" bucket
i am no longer asking. play the beginner's guide now.
i got in as early as i could so i could wait those 10 years before opening the game again in peace
LOL
I would say you should play some normal games first, and maybe learn a smidge about the gamedev world, before you experience the Beginner's Guide
and I think the word "experience" is better suited than "play"
Ultra Deluxe was good but I can't imagine playing it without having already played Stanley Parable when it came out like 10 years before
I did fire up TSP classic for that achievement after Ultra Deluxe was announced.
Anyone who has played it: I think I've only got like two hours in classic, should I play that more or just get Ultra Deluxe?
TSP was one of the first games i played especially when i was obsessed with completionism so i cheated that one. this is my penance
prob get ultra deluxe I think?
UD has all the original game's content
it'll tell you in big bright letters where the UD content is lol

Idc if I’m called simple
I like what I like
man it's still kinda wild that I can play games like Halo and Final Fantasy straight from steam
why is the destiny 2 preload 330 gigabytes
Because modern AAA gaming stinks.
LOL
game is so unserious
i would refund at that point
?????
Can’t even make this up
yeah they shot JFK with a black hole gun
Crazy
even 150gb......
that's just how it be
man it's just too easy to make fun of......
it's a first person MMO that's been running for like, 8 years now? I mean just imagine how many textures that must have
FF14 is like 140 gb
World of Warcraft is over 100 gigs
also zamn destiny 2 is that old.....
ah yeah 2017
I remember when Titanfall 1 came out in 2014 I and a bunch of more experienced PC gamers were shocked it was 50 GB.
Anyone ever hear of the conspiracy theory Storage Wars?
uh ain't that just a tv show
There is the TV show, yes.
But the theory is that AAA publishers are manipulating the development studios they own to push out bigger and bigger games so that people can only have one "competitor" on their console at a time.
I see
Want to play Black Ops 6? Better uninstall every other AAA game you have because it's such a bloated lumbering mess unless you've splurged on a system with a ton of extra space or external storage.
I don't really agree, but I guess it's hard to know the truth
It's a very cynical take, I'll admit.
I just think that it's modern day game dev with high res textures and cutscenes. These are games with hundreds of people contributing to it, it's gonna be pretty big
That's true. But Expedition 33 is less than 50 GBs.
I value non ai slip thank you very much
I wonder how much that rough unreal rock texture was used in the game
I haven't played a Call of Duty since Infinite Warfare. Activision using AI in their fascism propaganda is totally in-line.
was infinite before or after BO3
I played BO3 just to try out the zombies
I also played MW4 remake I guess
should've played ghosts.... fish ai.....
ghosts really was something else lol
BO3 was the trainwreck Titanfall rip-off. Infinite Warfare fixed most of BO3's issues.
idk about the mp front, I've never played Cod mp
the only fps pvp I've ever played is like, Destiny 2, TF2, and Counterstrike lol
Black Ops 1 had a decent campaign.
I think they're ok, but I haven't played any campaign past the 360 generation
They're enjoyable.
Cod 2, MW, MW2, BO1
They are not well-designed.
They're like Dark Souls without any of the quality of art but still with all the gamer-grabbing.
nope but they are popcorn fun
playable action movies
MW2 might be one of the greatest campaigns ever with pretty bad gameplay lol
is the gameplay as like, elegant as Doom? No
Do I remember every single level in MW2? Hell yeah
so here's a sneak peek at the janky coding required to make all of this cool crap work
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/809855450971373668/1393300676737765526/wot.mp4?ex=6872abdf&is=68715a5f&hm=c9183d98682ad169ec64ed246a33e3784738c41a22dbba8db5b8a4a2e3886fa5&
i just shot a robot spider in one room and an inactive enemy in a different room just...
fell flat on his ass
slipped on a banan
What do you mean bad gameplay, MW 2 has peak action fps gameplay (unless you talk about reboot)
Ramirez! Protect the burgertown!
i'm... not the biggest fan of MW2
considering how it set the direction the entire series followed
like I just don't think the core gameplay itself in the campaign was that good, it just had excellent variety in its levels and settings
but even i have to admit
that campaign has A LOT of really, really cool moments
shame that half of it doesn't make any sense
rule of cool, hell yeah
yeah pretty much
it just kinda sucks after mw1 being rather critical of the industrial military complex and US actions in the middle east and what not
gulags, favelas, oil rigs, nuclear subs, snowmobiles, the white house, all crammed in like, 5 hours
it was critical of that and somewhat respectful to people who lost their lives for that
yeah MW1 and MW2 are very different
and then mw2 came along and it's like DUAL WIELDING!
SLO-MO SNOW MOBILE JUMPS!
CRAWLING ON YOUR BELLY with a... knife... sticking out... of your chest...
yeah mw2 doesn't make much sense
yes
exactly
ramirez!
get tf off the roof!
ramirez!
- the most violent coughing fit ever *
they were always kind of working with "rule of cool" though, I believe. MW1 struggled to get greenlit until they realized that Special forces is as cool as Halo supersoldiers
oh yeah they wanted to get modern warfare going even before cod 2
i just...
i just can't get behind mw2 plot at all
and then they were like, "you know what'd be cooler? world war 3, russians fighting americans in DC!"
the idea that russia invaded US from the east and took it by surprise is just too dumb for me to get behind
that really is the whole game basically, it's trying to barrel its way to that specific Scene, all other logic be damned
like
they got all this hardware, all this massive army flew above all of europe and no one asked any questions?
they just go "oh we got this thing that had spoofed data on it and that's how we didn't notice"
ridiculous
gotta be my GOTY the scenery is so beautiful
I think MW2 was also kinda in the era where people believed the Russian military was secretly op
yeah i guess
industry people tried to hype them up so they could get more sales and investment
Private James Ramirez getting asked to do things by his team, Sergeant Foley and Corporal Dunn.
I mean, I got to point and click on bad guys to be a hero with sweet setpieces and action/vehicle sequences so I dunno I think it's pretty goood but hey people have different opinions
the way I think about it would be, would this game be fun in an endless horde mode against the regular enemies, not zombies
yeah and that's my biggest issue with mw2
this series wasn't just that before mw2
If I member well Russians sabotaged whole NOMAD system before invading, thus leaving Murica in the dark
Good ol' mid 2000's eh
the modern fps had always struggled with getting some enemy variety I think
yeah but that's still dumb
like - no other country in europe raised an eyebrow seeing the biggest military operation just flying above their heads?
2000s was also that era, I mean MW1 is kinda all about that sorta
no one was like now hang on a sec
mw2 is just full of dumb moments like this
why did shepard shoot you and ghost?
ah - right
for melodrama
I mean this is the game with the airport level, which famously doesn't make much sense
also that
it is a pretty powerful moment until you stop and think about it for all... 5 seconds
Mmmm yeah there is plenty of BF games from that period so yeah I guess
maybe 6 if you haven't had your morning coffee yet
did help make for an awesome mp level though so can't complain too much
No, heck Terminal, that map stinks.
oh you missed out big time
mw2 lobbies were something else, let me tell you
Mines doom
Cause it scratches my brain in a nice way
TACTICAL NUKE INCOMING
- midi enter sandman starts playing *
I wanted to play it when I replayed MW2 on PC in like...2020? But I've heard it's very hacker infected and straight up not safe to play so I prefered to back away
“You wouldn’t survive a call of duty lobby”
oh yeah
"i can do more with a guitar than you can with your entire life"
yeah cod mp ages poorly unfortunately
or however that goes
god that clip is iconic
okay we can post that
12yo me thought this was the pinnacle of comedy
idk ive never seen such incredible views in any game this has to be a first
really?
Breath of the wild is personally the most beautiful game I’ve ever played
But I getcha

the mw2:2:2022 villain
yeah i guess no other game ive seen can rival this at the end of the day
Also destiny 2
Destiny 2 is probably up there for most beautiful game I've played, some of those vistas are really hard to beat
yeah bungie always had pretty skyboxes
yeah
Nah game of the year is nearly here
It has baby dinosaurs
I was gonna wonder what my 2025 goty was gonna go to and then I realized silksong will definitely, definitely release this year
sorry - it's mw3:2:20whatever

So far my GOTY is Blue Prince
Because apparently as my friends say "Logan you moron you always pick smaller games you hipster"
I kiiinda quit after unlocking like...4 doors? So I never REALLY finished it I guess
I'm also silkcoping
yeah that's the thing, the endgame is kinda... meh for me
Yeah, like that store which just wants you to grind coins is...eeeh
you run out of nice and simple puzzles to solve so all you got is the hardcore and super cryptic ones
Cannot deny it does fullfill it's purpose to have to stick around for longer
But after a while it gets tedious to have runs with zero progress
yeah
And unlike Hades you don't have any good combat to enjoy, unless you go "Hell yeah I placed that room in here so nicely" I guess
like one of the biggest motivators for me was finding out more about the story and seeing new rooms/locations but it just became a trickle
which is kind of inevitable, I just wish the game had a cleaner end
Same
GOTY so far are
Blue prince
KCD2
Split fiction
Doom the dark ages
Expedition 33
I feel like I’m missing one
idk, maybe mh wilds
Khazan, Pirate Yakuza, Citizen Sleeper 2
Rematch
(Uma Musume)
Elden Ring Night-whatever it's called counts or it came and went?
nah it's still kicking, surprisingly getting pretty frequent updates
it's almost like monster hunter where they're doing weekly rotations of hard bosses
Oblivion remake even though it's just oblivion again
Nothing else hits me, there is plenty of "great, not GOTY tho" games like Atomfall or South of Midnight
At the end of the day it's only a title and there will be always someone complaining about it so whatever
Hades 2 probably will be goty contender for people if it does release this year
remember when in 2020 doom eternal, half life alyx and hades 1 were fighting for the title of the best action game on VGAs?
Hell it will be mine if it does
yeah remind me what doom came out this year?
there's rumours of a new half life floating around
dark ages, pretty good from what I've seen
also why did no one tell me a new zachtronics game is releasing
who
zachtronics do engineering puzzle games
very specific niche, but very good
They did Opus Magnum and Infinifactory, most famously
they also made infiniminer which inspired minecraft
i know some of these words
zachtronics closed down though because the guy, Zach Barth, went to go teach in college

and now he's back I guess
painge
tucks bim in
f this week, man
thank god its friday
well i've got work tomorrow so
it ain't friday for me
THAT SAID
since it is friday - i have to do an obligatory post
you guys want the black mesa version or the doom version?
never!
miko, tuck this poor fool in!
tidb youve never said that when its friday so it must be a lie
aww man i gotta get up early-ish tomorrow as well
well too late - you're getting the black mesa version
https://youtu.be/cmbqB0dYgug?si=iItw_8kjs9ovCfNh

idek if I have a top 10 games since I don't play much
more like Games I Liked More Than Usual
Gameplay good:
- Rhythm Heaven
- Pokemon mystery dungeon explorers
- Pokemon Conquest
- Age of empires 2
- the old Warcraft 3 before blizzard ruined it
- Hollow Knight
- Celeste
- Ori 1
Gameplay ok, carried by good overall package
- Hadeses
- the Nier games
- Octopaths
More games for me I guess:
The Great Ace Attorney duology
Baba Is You
Shin Megami Tensei 4
Devil May Cry 5
Halo The Master Chief Collection
Wario 4 Gba

oh no LMAO
it always makes me sad when theres a speedrun event like this and something goes wrong mid run. its so scary
yeah but that's what makes it entertianing

summer games done quick, i think?
and so, so many things went wrong in this run and seeing the guy coming up with weird im-sim strats on the spot was super fun
mayb but getting to the end of a run and then messing up something critical is probably devastating
oh for sure
but - you know
such is a nature of a competition

this has to be the fugliest shotgun i've ever seen
literally we have spas 12 at home
idk brother we didnt have spas 12 at home
wait there is??
naw its cool put more wood on guns
wood?
this thing has no wood
nah man i mean the one at 16:12
kinda missed the timestamp there
it actually turned out ok because they gave a really generous estimate and still had enough time to do an extra deck at the end
i see, thats great
i want to watch the titanfall2 speedrun i obviously missed it because i have not been keeping track of time whatsoever
I only watched GDQ live once, when I was packing to move and needed random background noise
i've started playing fields of mistria. very fun! it's very engaging and cute, the character portraits are great and i love how distinct everyone looks and acts. there are so many designs i really love. the characters also have interactions with each other, which i feel makes them and the life inside the town more dynamic and interesting.
there's some good qol aspects in there; i like that you can save without going to bed (tho you can still only dance on your home), you can buy items from stores without the npcs being there, items that go toward the museum are marked and then checked off when you've given a sample to the museum, multiple talking interactions available a day and the game indicates when the character wants to talk, stuff like that. there's also a bug catching mechanic that i haven't tried yet but it seems like it'll be fun.
but by god does this game suffer badly from having an enormous map
it's just these huge tiles where you're not really zoomed out enough to tell exactly where you're going so you spend a lot of time wandering and getting lost. which i think this game sort of wants, to an extent, because it seems to be kind of pushing itself as low consequences type thing so it doesn't matter if you don't have the most optimal farm or the highest relationships the fastest
but it's a lot. it's somehow even worse than stardew's giant map problem.
at least stardew had the mining carts
good news!
weird... news...

this is insane
@rustic falcon Spent an hour or two yesterday reading a bunch of spoilers for E33 and ||I don't know how anyone sees "A Life To Paint" as anything but the "bad" ending. Like, if what I read is correct it's spelled out very plainly that Alicia is running away, to say nothing of how it's apparently foreshadowed that she'll end up being as destructive for Lumiere as Aline was.||
Am I drastically missing a point I can only get actually playing the game?
i saw someone say today that ||they dont see many downsides to it because they do not empathize with suicidal ideas, so verso's request to die is "unreasonable". i disagree with this!||
||aside from alicia's escapism which means her family loses another child, verso is condemned to 100 More Years In The Piano Mines even though everyone else gets to live. i guess we also dont know how everyone elses lives look outside of this one cutscene||
also, have you watched it? chilling cutscene. this gifset of it from tumblr (MASSIVE E33 ENDING SPOILERS) was insane to see after finishing the game because i did not remember this
i guess the biggest point of contention about the endings is ||that you basically start the game in lumiere and the paintress is this mysterious entity. that is basically the only advertised premise of it, on steam page and so on, you know. only later on in the game it becomes clear that its a Real family drama in the larger scale and that lumiere is painted (which i dont think makes it less real). so by destroying the canvas, verso essentially destroys everyone living in there. and while facing grief and healing is a correct process for the dessendres, its not for... everyone else. and i guess we also dont know what the future holds for them||
||i found that ending also very upsetting to watch even if it doesnt have the "unsettling" feel to it||
hope this all makes sense i always feel too rambly and unclear when i try to explain myself
Makes perfect sense.
||I agree a little with your point about how Lumiere being Painted doesn't make it less real, but I think that Painted Verso and the Young Boy are the closest thing they have left to the real deal and both of them want to destroy the Canvas.||
yaa i get u. also a point i did not take into account ||is that alicia is much more personally traumatized outside of the canvas, physically and mentally. she also iirc has a target on her back from the elusive writers faction who started the fire after deceiving her. out there she really will be very alone and still have a much tougher life than she will in lumiere, way more than the rest of her family (whos functionality as a unit is still very debatable - especially as people that should be able to take care of alicia and help her heal alongside them)||
i dont know, at this point i really want to replay all of it while keeping everything i know in mind so i can really think about it more. theres a lot to to consider and digest. @__@
I bounced off Mass Effect the very first time I played it and came back after getting some spoilers I really wanted to see, and now it's my second favorite space opera.
I bounced off Mass Effect because the citadel and first planet was kinda boring so I never hopped back on
I've heard some things about E33's gameplay design that throw me a little (apparently the QTEs in battle matter a little too much compared to turn-based RPG conniving) but it remains on the radar.
i also got my brother to continue the game, and i hope he likes it. i think it already has potential in his eyes because he says that he didnt mute the music in it, which already means a lot because he always does this for everything. :P
The Legendary Edition fixes some things.
yeah E33 reminds me a lot of Bug Fables, where the QTEs are insanely important to survival and damage
Doesn't really fix the maps or the level design.
you can turn QTE to auto, i think it still does less damage than manually but if you are on pc someone graciously made a mod that simply makes auto QTE deal the same damage as perfect QTE (i wish it was like this in the game to begin with)
it was only in the crazy endgame where I yoinked an immortal build that I could kind of ignore the QTEs
wait does auto QTE also parry for you
no
damn
but story mode makes the window for parry and evade much more lenient (and i think they made it even more lenient in a recent patch lol)
and if you want even easier parry windows, i think theres a mod for that as well
yay for PC
I played on Geforce Now so no modding lol
i snee
otherwise I would do the "better tooltips" mod
i have such a collection now. a lot of them are just visual or for performance (or to remove the starting screens that are apparently nearing half a minute)
I'm not gonna play E33 much anymore, maybe in a few years or so
I basically 100%'d it already
the friend i played with is also very close to 100%, just collecting all journals
it's basically collectibles for me too, but I don't feel like doing em. Also the tower
i got this mod that changes up the ||sirene|| outfit. the original is great but this one is so cool looking :)
I just kept everyone in their default costumes
I did do the ||Maelle Obscur costume ||though, it looks like it fits in sorta, and looks really good
i love dressing them up :) ||my friend just put everyone in swimsuits with the clea hairstyle. everyone matching so cutely so verso and his short hair look so out of place. somebody didnt get the memo||
if i knew how to mod the game (or be bothered to learn) i would give the guys cool long hair 😎
I'm not really a ||swimsuit costume|| kinda guy, it just feels kinda weird
even the ||hairstyles||, changing them up was funny for a sec and then I'd always immediately go back
interesting
i like that you can disable outfits in cutscenes so you can just play around looking silly but the serious moments are serious. but why do that when you can experience the most emotional moments in oldtimey swimsuits?
i also like seeing gifs for the game because i like seeing what outfits/hairstyles other people like
She’s so pretty in this
I still think it's kinda weird.|| Maelle and Sciel have those wide-eyed Mass effect andromeda faces|| in game a lot of the time
i need to lock in and learn how to make gifs like this again
not sure what u mean by that actually? i have not played it
i think the problem is that everyones heads are just slightly too big for their bodies. hard to unsee when you notice it LOL but once again mods save the day
I think it's the eyes and stiff faces myself, mostly outside of full cutscenes
i dont really see it ahaha
i like how different everyones face is actually, some are definitely more expressive than others
sciel's expressions seem flatter to me than other characters but she has such a strong personality, it shines through :)

A few months ago, I made a video called “Games About Letting Go” and recently, I’ve received an influx of comments wishing that I could have included Expedition 33 in it. I wish that too. So as recompens...
I disagree with ||Maelle's choice being the natural one though. I think given all that the game presents, it points to Verso and Renoir being right, that Maelle seems to be using the Canvas almost like an addiction to grieve. When she said she would use it responsibly to Renoir, I personally think it's pretty clear that she's lying, and that she will be here forever, until she dies in agony, without ever really healing.||
My brain is too fried to watch a smart video rn LOL but thanks for the recommendation, how long is the video?
50 minutes my god
46 minutes
Maybe I can put it in the background sometime
I had a speedrun in the background earlier and it was actually extremely impressive how you can finish the game in less than 3 hours while also being very very powerful
I still haven't finished e33 but is it just me or is putting roulette on every party member really strong lmao
Dialogue when getting roulette was really funny
roulette... kinda like a wheel don't they?
and you might get a fortune out of them
I love posting a 5 star tempered Steve only for my sos guys to triplecart
whoa there now that's a...
could you dumb that down for me a bit?
i don't speak balatro
