and since that was my main multiplayer game i kinda thought this could transfer to the game that killed urt
but no

counter strike in general has a really serious issue with onboarding
there used to be to a tutorial map, there isn't any now
no proper training mode besides a match with some glue sniffing bots
and sbmm that pairs nobodies with pro-wannabies

like... does valve expect this game to survive only on skins and esports?

and then there's the sheer fact that casual doesn't have the main freaking mode of the game that made it famous 20 years ago

and it quickly turns into an absurd clustertruck that's even more overwhelming

it just makes no sense to me

and just for the record - this isn't me complainig because i'm scoring last or something
i'm usually in the middle of the scoreboard
sometimes top half, sometimes slightly below it - whatever

but the difference between the top two guys and everyone else is so massive it makes me think this matchmaking isn't really working the way it should

what i mean is - every single cutscene in this game has some background music
and then it ends with a little music jingle which then stays for the duration for the loading screen after the cutscene and slowly fades out during gameplay

i honestly can't think of any other game doing that

I've had some graphical glitches with mshybrid (the gpu to igpu) on, which couldn't find the solution to, until I switched to dedicated gpu. Mshybrid is still useful though, but now I know how to squeeze more performance when I'm gaeming.

Also the first one is also a total steal, so go ahead if you want

eternal is more fast-paced, colourful and closer to classic id shooters like quake 3.. 2016 is more usual modern shooter about exploring, surviving and just has a bit different atmosphere

also, eternal is a direct sequel of 2016

i'd maybe suggest waiting till dark ages and get that one first, since it'll be a prequel to both, but that's the only reason

2016 is technically a reboot

the general plot is about the same as 1
we've got scientists, we've got mars (which used to be phobos but they're both orange)
scientists do some science stuff and open a portal to hell and you're the only one with guns , guns and balls big enough to clean it up
and eventually you go to hell and end up BFG-ing a big spider

at least this time she doesn't die to two mid-roll BFG blasts

meanwhile - eternal's plot is just...
pure insanity

it's like the half of this game's budget went into inventing new hard drugs because the art team went bananas and the writers had to stich all those levels together somehow and they couldn't do it sober

so I bought this game called Go Mecha Ball on a whim and its super fun
Like it feels so good to control this weird pinball mech in the moment to moment gameplay
idk how they managed to make a top down/isometric shooter game have schmovement but they pulled it off
Although I havent been super impressed with the roguelike elements yet
but the moment to moment gameplay is good enough im willing to look past it.

I honestly dont know why this game is a roguelike

like they couldve easily just had a short campaign story or like a level select menu with a score ranking thing and it wouldve been just as good

If you can reuse the case and maybe PSU (assuming it's a quality unit that'll last a while yet), you could maybe do a 7600X + 6700XT system that'll run most things fine! Especially at 1440p and below

ultros is "just" an okay for me. The overarching idea is pretty cool (the part I spoilered above) but the combat is sort of clunky. There's some sign that progress might eventually depend on ||juggling certain items into spots above you using combat skills|| which kind of worries me because of the clunky controls.

Nine sols is great, imo the best game discussed here, though the good part is more the combat than the platforming. It's labeled as a metroidvania but there isn't too much room for sequence breaking. I almost want to say it's better than hollow knight if not for the shorter length.
(Also ||Lady Ethereal|| is my dream scenario for EM1 Hecate)

I thought Bo was decent - it's definitely trying to be a take on Ori-like movement, which I liked - but the annoying part is that in some platforming sections, if you take damage even once, it puts you back at the start. And I sort of recall the checkpointing is less often than Celeste, like sometimes your progress doesn't save every room. This made me give up on the second-last boss (which is arguably a straight up rip of celeste's ||badeline 2||). The game's reviews were more polarizing than I thought, some even calling it awful, but overall I still had more fun playing Bo than ultros, since I don't force myself to finish games.
