this game fooled me three times

it fooled me once with it's awesome trailer that was all smoke and mirrors (to the point that after the demo i went back to that trailer and scrubbed through it frame by goddamn frame just so i could list all the instances where that trailer was fake)

shame on them, i guess

it fooled me again with that absolutely raw demo last year
shame on me, this time

and then i still forgave them and had hopes for the release
and got gaslit to get hyped for it again

shame on... i don't know who, this time

and again - i bought a damn 3060pc and a bunch of other stuff for this game

well - not only for this
i needed a new pc for modding and other games too, but
this was supposed to be my system seller, you know?

but with every click there's a small chance that you will pull the pin and throw that pin instead
with a live nade still in your hand

i've been playing first person shooters all my life

i kinda-sorta know slipgate ironworks and their track record

hell - the jank they produced was still somewhat adorable back when they were called interceptor
mostly cause rott2013 won by defaul - there was no classic FPS coming out at the time

i know the history of 3d realms
and the "reputation" embracer has

but i still had hope

and that trailer
THAT trailer sold me so hard on this game i was willing to look past that

there was more red flags around than in minesweeper on expert

and i saw them
and kept ignoring them

but the game finally came out and i can't keep ignoring those red flags anymore

and if you look up "phantom fury review" on youtube - they're all negative
people are piling onto this game

this sucks... so bad
not the game, but the feeling

realization that i was so ignorant of all the red flags
and that i got played like a damn fiddle

i had a feeling that something's going down at 3d realms

because they had all those unfinished games that suddenly got release dates one month apart
like they were quickly trying to push them out the door before some kind of crap hits the fan

last month it was graven
and before that it was wrath

which turned out to be the best out of them despite going through an absolute dev hell and the lead dev leaving the company

and lo and behold - now there's some corporate buffoonery going on over at embracer so i guess i was right

and yeah - ion fury and aftershock were made my voidpoint
ion fury was supposed to be this little prequel game for bombshell which main gimmick was that it was running on the build engine from '95

and you know what?
it turned out to be the best game shelly ever got

same with aftershock

god this sucks so much

imagine if... a trailer for silksong turned out to be all smoke and mirrors

It was 2020 the game was 1 year old and I was a huge Borderlands fan and I finished my PC in 2020 and the game was a gift from my cousin abroad

So it had some emotional value too bad I hated it

Gearbox had a Vault Insider Program where you could redeem codes and do challenges and redeem legendary weapons for 2, 1 and Pre Sequel and they arrived in the game mailbox

If you redeemed enough guns you could get an exclusive gun in 3 once it released

and thag gun SUCKED

COV guns in 3 are ass

people who actually worked on it brought their A game to the table making sure each piece is as good as it can be

A few days ago I've started Pre-Sequel, I picked Aurelia even though I really don't like using snipers in general...
...and I'm so glad I picked her, because space combat in close quarters is just not happening

One thing I have to applaud TPS for is the split screen couch coop and FOV sliders
