been playing link's awakening, i played the original gameboy version, and i totally forgot how hands off on the direction games used to be. links awakening isn't doesn't have as much of it (you have the owl+the phone hut) but it's a lot less direction than i see in a lot of modern games

which in one memorable case results in a dude with THEE most over the top east coast drawl you've ever heard
the one main female protag is uh. a cage female protag. but the shower scene is optional! she is much more likable when you choose to read her utter lack of self-preservation as the actions of a thrill-seeking lunatic
it's a lot of very pretty people carrying out the vision of a complete hack in an incredibly sincere fashion, and that's ultimately what makes it schlocky and great
david cage doesn't know how the following things work: mysteries, plot twists, natural dialogue, american names for things that would be referred to with their american names in a story set in the usa, human motivations, story pacing, women, scrambled eggs
