And all the systems interact with each other in such a beautiful way and everything you do has some actual gameplay related consequences

overall it feels like a basic soulslike. dodging feels bad to use. guarding is good though
when you guard, you take chip damage, but if you immediately hit them back, you recover the chip damage
if you guard at perfect timing you take no damage at all
i was counting on the setting of belle epoque city with clockwork dolls to be the draw that sets it apart

Tried Exoprimal open beta with a friend
it's.... weird
essentially it's a PvEvP. Both teams race to do objective against horde of dinos. At the end, both teams can kill each other to win the final objective.
As a PvE guy, the PvE part doesn't have much variety. There are little bit strategies for some dinos. But ultimately, you can go unga bunga and still be fine. Shooting horde of velociraptors admittedly got boring for me.
My PvP friend said the PvP part is a mess. It's hard to tell when the enemies are doing something or have ult ready like that. There are too many things going on.

your gasmask has limited time and you have to scavenge for more, and your flashlight too. you have to pull out your hand crank to charge it(at least its not limited)

i have decided the main reason i hate sunbreak's anomaly quests is because the handling of afflicted materials is so bad
like
at this point literally everything left to build exclusively requires high numbers of afflicted materials, so i fight a level 200+ scorned magnamalo thats buffed to hell in every which way... and my reward is two afflicted materials all the masses of normal materials and money i'm getting? those are worthless now, all that matters is your. 1/5 chance-to-drop materials or whatever the rate is
