Today I messed up some other mission and accidentally clicked restart from checkpoint
Which actually restarted the whole mission (the one where you rescue that dude that made that fancy new arm of yours)

So I just went “screw it”
Went in guns blazing, shot everyone, got the dude, peaced out of there in under 10 minutes with alarms blaring and what not

There is a secret bonus for "no traces" where you basically have to a be a complete ghost, you cannot harm anyone or use almost any equipment like throwing mags or decoys or anything, and that one has a huge point payout, but yeah, otherwise the best way to S rank most missions is to just run from point A to point B as fast as possible

you can get big bonuses from completing the optional tasks and being very good but that will usually land you around A rank

My tastes changed a lot over the last few years and I’m here just for the gameplay

Which creates a lot of hype moments in every single one of those copy pasted filler missions in a natural and organic way

the music is fantastic if you look into the cut songs on the Walkman since the game was supossed to have more setpieces like the Skullface ride, like a boss fight with Sahelanthropus with a voiced song called Defiance, and there's also A Phantom Pain which idk what it would be for, Ludvig Forssell literally released an entire album the next year the game released full of cut songs for setpieces in game

The games had the grateful advantage of already establishing weapons and shooting, but as all FPS it becomes too much of a focus. And I really missed the super trippy tunnel journeys, shooting at ghosts doesn't really feel like anything. And without those journeys, arriving at the new stations doesn't feel good either. Like in the book, the Polis gets hyped up the whole time and then you get there in the game and it's like 10 seconds and you're gone

And in the game you don't even go to kremlin, iirc in the book they do but I didn't reach that place in the book yet

Also in the games the fps aspect is fun but only when fighting humans, mutants are just bullet sponges

Also in the game Miller is just way too nice and unprofessional

And librarians are the biggest bullet sponges and are so much less scary than in the book

In the book there's a whole lot of them but they die basically almost like humans

And there isn't even a dog at the start in the game!

people used to wear heavy armor which is why the swords were bigger, to thrust through them. later firearms ( like matchlocks) were invented and heavy armor becomes more impractical

after that swords become smaller too so its more practical

I kinda wish to have more movement options from the get-go. In a game that can use environment to gain advantage, repositioning can be really nice. Hope that's expanded in the final game

lol I just completed a side mission of extraction of a russian language interpreter and the uh the character in the earpiece said "now you will be able to understand what the russian soldiers are saying" and I only then realized that average gamer doesn't know russian and it's supposed to be not clear what the soldiers are saying

but honestly it looks fun. That's the sad part. The animation is cool, the hits feels like it lands nicely. The movement combos feels cool. If it didn't have the rap or the prince of persia title to it, I'd give it a chance.
