no new shields?? :(
Honestly, at this point I'm surprised that they even have as much of a game as the D4 beta has.
actiblizzion seems to have given up on making games
SAME
Hots was extremely enjoyable but I tried dota 2 and league of legends and they SUCK
I liked HotS because the loop time meant that 45 minutes was a long game
whereas dota 45 minutes is like, my average
also Probius, my boi
:<
same, one game for me on avg was like 30-35 minutes but when I tried Dota I tried only few games but they all approached 60 minutes and that is just torture to me
Also, I didn't know it was put into maintenance mode, couple months ago I downloaded again but waited for like an hour for a game and didn't found any and deleted it
also I liked the team mechanics, in both LoL and Dota you're kind competing against your own team too and that also put me off
dota's complexity frontier expanded a lot in this last patch and now teamfights are just glitterbarfs
first they cut the development team by like over a half so they slowed down the content by a lot, and then some time later they stopped development completely
at peak it used to be like one new hero per month or two, then after the first slash it was like 3 heroes per year
and after mei they stopped
I mained zul'jin
Biggest turn offs of dota and league for me were that there are for some reason items with like 1-3% buffs I hate mechanics like that and also probably the biggest is that the cooldowns are way too long
I also liked yrel
roses are red
Yrel is a goat
that's it
Music:
In the Name of God - Powerwolf
(Ads are going to Powerwolf, support badass music)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXhU9zacjzw
All ...
Same
That's why I like hots and overwatch, no bs long cooldowns
In dota I like heroes that either have or get a lot of mobility and then have a lot of stuns and survivability
and yrel was that in spades
I remember that video, damn that brought some feels
Carbot also had great videos
that Varian one
chef's kiss
I suddenly realize
that
heroes that either have or get a lot of mobility and then have a lot of stuns and survivability
applies to my favorite characters in overwatch too
do I have a type?
Also lunara artanis diablo and like a dozen heroes were very enjoyable to play
Malthael was one of my favorites
Artanis was also fun for me
Tbh there were very little heroes that I tried and didn't like
Probably only healers
Although kharazim is fun
Crowd control tank ig
whops
My absolute favorite one was the siege tank one, they did mess her up a bit in one of the reworks but in her peak times I loved her
Initiator tank crowd control
tank can be evasiveness
because god damn do I love playing puck

Siege tank was one of the heroes I wanted to play but didn't get to unlock
mistake
I think I liked playing probius because A)NB gender euphoria A) cute smol lil guy and B) lol, you just got exploded by the cute smol lil guy
in fact I enjoyed a lot of the specialist heroes like Zagara and even Murky, some of them were super hard to play though like Vikings
never learned Vikings
Probius was one of those I didn't learn much
the key to probius was just being able to set up a skillshot and not die
yeah I suck at that
The shaman guy was great because froge
I gotta hit the gym but this has been fun
I was great at dodging and running away once people came for me, and I loved just pushing my lane until they came
Zagara with Nydus worms was OP af
teleport across map
push three lanes all by myself
Holy frig, why didn't they just combine the warp rift with the building warp ins?
Have the proto buildings have the aoe slow and the ability to be detonated.
Zul Jin was always my favorite tho, just insane damage and you have a ranged slow ability so nobody can escape and you can heal up very very fast, and even though you lose health when you attack the only counter is being outnumbered by a lot, you can still win even a 3 on 1 though with the wrong heroes attacking you, or if you encounter someone with stun that's a problem, stun is the only counter to zul jin, he's somewhat fragile
Zuljin was too hard for me on normal matches but on the special one lane ones I would absolutely demolish with him
same with something like Butcher
Zul jin + a burst healer + something to get out of the fight if crowd control arrives is the ultimate composition
imho the most fun was messing with enemy players, pulling them into towers and such, so like with Garrosh or Stitches just carry them behind the gate and watch them panik
I think some heroes had like a teleport of allies but tbh a mass stun ability would work as well
Medivh had gates
not sure if someone had direct teleport
it's been too long since I played
Tbh with stun you could just kill the enemy instead of retreating probably
Zul Jin doesn't hit like a truck he hits like a goddamn freight train
- It is wednesday, my dudes
... - HAAIIAAH
(slaps 5 massive toads in yo face)
specialists were great when they existed back in the day
i've never understood how to damage, i used to bring more profit to the team by absorbing or healing it, but specialists were something else
Gamers, how do you keep track of what games you've played?
I don't
When you have games on steam, gog, epic games, third party launchers, etc.
if it's on steam I leave them in favorites but otherwise I don't really care
you could try joining the backloggd.com cult
I don't like cults
damn
not even the lamb one?
The website looks decent tho
Bioshock reference???????
I have yet to play that
there was big update recently, I'd recommend it
afaik they are planning another big one some time in the future
That would be too much trouble considering overwhelming majority of games I play I play not on any platform like steam or gog or something so there are zero records
oh my god i can't believe i forgot about the warcraft reforged incident, yeah add that one to the list too
backloggd is a very nice website, though you have to input every game manually
More like refunded, amirite?
Yeah these PlayStation exclusives are hard to keep track of
i dont own a console
Wait so you're saying you sail the seven seas?
Does it show stats on how many hours you spend gaming
hots mentioned
i was a devout abathur (and deathwing) main
tried both league and dota, could never find someone to scratch that itch + the games are too long + last hitting sucks
i only played hots to get some overwatch skins, but then they got added to the game normally later so i couldve just waited
that's why I initially started playing it lol
wasn't even skins for characters I played smh
i played some dva back in the day
and the genji skin was just cool
but now i pretty much exclusively play mercy bc it requires no aim for the most part
#whysymmetrawasgood
trueee
reinhardt was my boi tho
i played so much symmetra she was my favorite character
i played when she was still support :((
lmaoo same here
mfw never bought reforged but still got locked out of true classic wc3 anyway bc they updated the old client with the new one with missing features
Wonder if there's a way to get the old stuff back
unless blizzard reverted the client or readded what they took out at any point in the past couple years, probably not
Noooo, my nemesis!!!! (Though that one is moira now)
moira is so difficult to deal with
family tradition
yes
I learned to pirate games before I learned you could buy them lmao
in the memory
basically, when i see a game, i'm like "oh, i've played this" or "hm, never played this"
i can make such a list, but first i have to look through the list of all the games ever
oh come on
Oh yeah same
Requesting a life-sim game a la Littlewood but with actually good writing that deals with all the trauma responses that comes from being the returned hero and/or redeemed villain
wow thats...specific
dont know many life sims but do they usually have that much writing
They could if they weren't cowards D:
Does anyone know of games like the witcher 3 for Xbox
the building mechanic of new zelda has convinced me to play it
does botw have something cool like that in it?
wait its only on switch?
aw
emulate it if you can run it
how do i emulate
yuzu
is using the mouse possible
not really
idk
I'm sure its not impossible
there's prolly a mod/patch
but its not something super native to the app
playing games without a mouse especially 3d ones is miserable
just adapt
nah trying to move the camera without a mouse is impossible
some emulators have mouse capabilites but can't speak to switch/zelda specifically as I haven't tried that
aarrgh its all so complicated at least theres like 50 pages of discussion on the tracker comments so ill probably able to fix any issues that arise
Damn why so many Zelda games got perfect scores from Famitsu
The Nintendo bonus is so real but at least they know their stuff cause they gave perfect scores as well to: Nintendogs, MGS4, Bayonetta, MGSPW, Yakuza 5, MGSV, Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima
it was fun to be excited for this for that brief afternoon
being very good games probably helps
Speak of the devil Death Stranding is free again
I may actually play it tbh, I'm not interested in it enough to search for it and download it but egs just gives me it so may try
Probably not though
director's cut upgrade for the game is only 4 bucks or so on epic games
so you really only pay 4 euros for the whole experience
i mean i cant buy anything anyway
cuz of swift and companies blocking transactions from or into russia ig
Why are starcraft terran anti air flying units are so attractive 🥺
silksong in q2 of 2023 copium 🤡

the pilots?
or the aircraft????
just saw first person mod for witcher 3. anyone tried it?
looks cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNe3T64wn58
The Witcher 3 now fully playable in first person thanks to the amazing "Gervant First Person" mod which supports combat, horse riding and boats!

Good luck fighting ||deathlaff|| with this on

dude be zoomin'
?
Banshees can't even attack air
I meant valkyries and vikings
Pilots but in case of viking aircraft also ig
oh right
I'm mostly used to sc2 so I had to look up what even Valkyrie is
Vikings seem like just normal dudes
the planes are cool tho
damn this seems like mordhau x MGR
only now the Nexus mod removal thing is affecting me
why were modders so sensitive to their mods being permanent on the website, instead backing down and just removing them screwing over every single mod that was built upon it
vampire survivors is on android?!?! im jonesing for a switch release ong
started hollow knight
very cool and cute
so far been easy
how do i unlock wall jump tho
actually… there is news, and the news is. not gonna happen in h1 2023… https://twitter.com/griffinmatta/status/1656106351184199680
Hey gang, just a quick update about Silksong.
We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can.
Expect…

Anyone here able to weigh in on "Wizard of Legend" game, and if you think it's enjoyable if you liked Hades, and could describe what I should expect if I get it? I hear some on youtube say it's awesome, but general reviews seem meh.
@sand sleet and @alpine sluice @lilac adder Did you guys like Wizard of Legend?
yes its awesome
well basically theres a lot of different spells so you can play a lot of different builds and basically its biggest strengths is that the gameplay is pretty fluid and enjoyable and theres a lot of playstyles to try but dont expect any lore at all
its also just pretty
if you like pixel graphics ofc
Its got no real story and if it has a soundtrack I turned it off early into the game to listen to my own music, so I can't tell you how good it is.
That being said, its fun
I get stuck in a rut of "use the same spells all the time"
not like ori and the forest level pretty but pretty nevertheless
i used like half of the spells probably
yeah i'm fine with it being mostly gameplay, so you like it?
yeah
i liked the soundtrack a lot
k, it's on sale right now for $4.80, felt like if it's good it be worth the download
i won't be able to play it much, got a lot on my plate to finish in my switch lol
didnt unlock a lot still, i got a new pc and didnt play it on it yet so yeah
im gonna install it again and unlock everything
what hooked you?
I like the movement
I like games with quick dashes
the dashes in hades have too much recoil
I think
oh and there's run, but if you run for like a few seconds you start dashing
its really good
i heard no iframes, was that hard to get used to?
that's a lie
I also heard you can get stagger locked ,which looks kinda frustrating
but you can't dash thru attacks can you? or can you?
there are dashes that will let you
this is my go-to build
its basically all i-frames
the water dash gives you a shield and eats projectiles in front of you, the zephyr will make you dodge attacks as long as you're moving, and you're invulnerable through the entire signature
does in game descriptions help you understand each spell's effects, or is it pure experimentation?
I think so?
eh
it can
but experimentation is really the only way to get a good grip on what things do
my favorite was always berserk with ice dagger
i unlocked dash lessgo
It is extremely awesome
If you like fast paced roguelikes, wizard of legend is a must-buy
(To be honest I kinda like the combat better in wiz than I do in Hades simply because there's way way more weapon options in wiz)
Only thing you need to keep in mind is that story is non-existent lol
Which isn't something that bothers me in a roguelike, but for some people it does
hades has best story in roguelikes by leaps... hard to compare. Hades has a fun story for games that are based on story
wizard of legend enemies/levels kinda repetitive even more so than the usual roguelike
also more difficult than hades, i never got past the second boss :(
I can share the key to defeating all the bosses, if you want
its pretty easy to say, and less easy, but not super challenging to perform
||all of the bosses with the exception(I think) of the last boss will do 3 attacks then sit still for a second, that second you hit them they'll get in a stun state that will let you hit them some more, unload as much as possible during this time to extend the stunned state. The pinata uses a similar mechanism and is good practice. The vast majority of attacks wont hit a player in a dash state. Other than that its just knowing which attacks do what. By dash state I mean in the sprinting state when you run for a bit and go faster||
o okii makes sense ty, i think i didnt take advantage of iframes then
wait, did you mean boss boss or like, the guys at the end of each level not the elemental leader dudes/
I love it
It’s one of my favorite games and I love to play Neve builds. It’s when you need to put all your time into one single element
the earth elemental leader boss who shot tree roots out
Did I tell anyone Metro Last Light is free on Steam
If you love playing games witha lot of depth to it, you'll love this one
I'm very tempted, and $5 seems cheap to enter... but I'm nervous. I couldn't get into deadcells, the rhythm I couldn't get right, and so I just can't get into it, but I love hades, can do 20-30 heat without god mode.
I would recommend it if you love playing around all sorts of elemental magic
finally encountered a boss in hollow knight that takes me double digits attempts
mantis lords
theyre cool af tho
mantis lords were my fave
I don't know what it is about their little harpsichord theme but I love it
Mantis Lords theme my beloved
i really liked their combat. felt like a dance. and their theme is one of the best
@sand sleet @wise cedar @alpine sluice speaking of WoL, I just saw the trailer for WoL 2 dropped like a day ago... so weird the coincidence... but it looks very different. 3d hi rez isometric instead of pixel
Is it gearbox? Does it look like risk of rain 2?
I may be dumb but I just noticed
MGS always had the Tactical Espionage Action subtitle
until Peacewalker
Peacewalker, GZ and TPP adopted the Tactical Espionage Operations subtitle which is really suiting ngl
it’s a different dev than the first one i think so different look
you could look it up , see if it looks good, it looks really different
that sounds risky
why does soul master have a morbillion phases 💀
mmmm trailer doesnt look too good, animations are way too slow and clunky
yeah seemed slower than pixel wol
this specific cartoonish 3d style is always like that
it looks like magicka 2 but worse rn
i hope the devs will make at least something decent
I feel like it would look better if they touched it up
playing enlisted and i got the best sniper badge for like 6th game in a row
guess im good at sniping
and it only makes me feel better that theres literally no kind of rank based matchmaking whatsoever
Just started Hitman 2016
I finally fiinished the Showstopper mission without any restarts and little to no savescumming
hehe
i love savescumming so much
The new Dead Space 90 min trial is a huge win for Steam if they can get developers to implement it in more games.
Anyone here plays sea of thieves?
Not sure if this was posted earlier
@ionic breach for you as well
It's just so wild to see where steins;gate has headed after all this time
anyone here play dota on USW
I wanna play dota with nice people
and/or know good places to find nice people who play dota on USW
I used to find folks by playing dota but playing dota without nice folks to find nice folks sounds too taxing
what is USW?
nice people
dota
Pick one
goddamn volatiles
https://youtu.be/g8psb8LZadA
that's what i get for grinding combat XP by trying to funnel everyone through a narrow chokepoint
Im getting my ass handed to me in MGO2
YOU'RE PLAYING MGO2!?
what sort of time machine do you have?
and where do i get one?
dude im so jealous right now
i always wanted to play MGO2
and MGO1, while we're at it
what kinda PC you got?
oh wow, arrested huh 😬
A dramatic step-up from being on the verge of bankruptcy
who?
me?
🫣
RIP.
goddamn paperweight of a console
i wish i could play the base MGS4
you never played it?
How the hell so many people are playing MGSV yet I barely find MGO3 players
nvm I get it why
I just joined a match and already got stunned by a guy in a Walk Gear
i, uh...
i'll be frank - the multiplayer aspect of V was the only thing i was interested in
no the MGO, but the thing where you can raid other bases
and defend yours
but then shortly before i got into the game i heard from numerous places that this mode... wasn't in the best shape
and the guy just kept CQC-ing me, I was at his mercy lmao
full of cheaters and with almost no balance at all
so i just stayed with the singleplayer
which... after finishing all metal gear games - in order - multiple times
was just...
so MGO3 has a survival mode
but idk what it consists of
Yeah I cant find much
It's a shame about the entirety of MGSV, MGS never played this well
We truly live in the worst timeline
I bet the japanese servers for the MGO entries were all great, there's a big charm to early online japanese games
i respectfully disagree
oh sure - it might move faster
controls are silky smooth and such
but we live in a world where MGS3 exists
which might have this... clunky "maximalist" nightmare of a control scheme
but with that came a greater degree of options in terms of small, precise deliberate moves and a greater sense of mastery over the game
also there's the fact that MGS5 is such a numbers driven game
a lot of progression ||i'd go as far as saying "most" of progression|| comes down to just... numbers getting bigger
I mean that started from Peacewalker
I think it's quite a natural progression but yeah I wish we still got linear action stuff
The game was bound to become this big
a pistol that deals just a little bit more damage
a rifle with just a little longer range
just a few fultons more and so on
meanwhile MGS3 was like "yo - here's a single sniper rifle - go nuts with it and figure out all the weird things you can use it for"
true
but i feel that in case of peace walker that came from tech limitations
that thing ran on a PSP
they had to figure out how to cram in as much "content" while taking as little space as possible
On the contrary they could have made a linear title but they decided to change the formula so it's really not the system's fault
They wanted it to be this way
Plus it makes more of a great portable game
You really couldnt have done much in a linear game with other people
oh it may sure be a great portable thing
but mate - look at it this way
those maps are TINY
and they barely chugged at 20 fps
twenty!
Integrating player interaction into the base game rather than a separate component was always one of Kojima's plans and you can see it slowly evolve from MGO1 to MPO+ to Peacewalker COOPS to MGSV to Death Stranding ultimately
there was no way in hell they could've keep it up for an entire, linear campaign akin to 3
not with this performance
also let's not forget that PW is - ultimately - a spinoff game
released on a slowly dying portable device
which still told a story that didn't need telling
and lo and behold - 5 went that route too
It's technically a mainline game since it was supossed to be called 5
while V is technically the spin off
Yes I know
yeah but in the end they didn't call it 5, did they?
it's kinda like with RE3 and CVX
Nope it's V from Venom
code veronica X was supposed to be the third resi game
It's not as important as the other games
and nemesis was supposed to be the spinoff
especially since they rushed the tie in with MG1
but in the end (i'll skip the details) nemesis became the mainline game while veronica became a spinoff
and guess what - i love RE3
oh here we go with kojimas wild ride again
and his super oh so clever naming schemes
i always thought V stood for "very unfinished"
keep in mind all that stuff was back in the days when he still had some other people around him to smack some sense into him
so what you're saying now never happened
i'm just...
so tired of this series
i used to love it, but...
i'm so done with all those pointless games and the wild ride
the "ooooh but this game X is actually a game Y in disguise!"
"oooooh kojima planned it all along! 30 years in the making!"
just...
following this series for so many years and seeing it go downhill in real time was heartbreaking for me
personally i'm waiting for the gaming industry to somehow start enforcing games preservation
or introduce a bill that forbids games exclusivity by law
whishful thinking, i know
Well good thing DS2 is only a timed exclusive :3
amazing
Borderlands 1 concept seemed so great but Im glad they made Lilith so cool on release at least
lilith looks like angel from borderland 2 here
Actually concept Lilith is the main siren villain from BL1
Forgot her name but she gets impaled by the vault at the end of the game
F
I wanted to play BL1 because I liked Maya and Lilith in BL2 but the game is so urghhhh :(((
ive thought about getting it a few times but i read servers can be pretty atrocious so i took it off my list bc i didnt want to deal with griefing and stuff
do you like apples
maybe you can bring Yuri to your lobocorp game!
maybe i can.... she will live on
Yeah, I'm playing single player
I wonder if Kojima is behind this lighting effect because it's so sick
But whoever's idea was for it, I wish we saw more of it
Installed wizard of legend again
Aqua arc berserk + meteor signature is insane damage my favorite build now
Also with the item that enhances the basic arcana because aqua arc gets almost double damage from it and splash
seriously?
we're praising kojima for lens flares now?
Those aren't lens flares they're Video Game Kojima flares
Seriously though the lens flares I see in games are just hexagons
those are anamorphic lens flares. Some games have them, but you often don't see them because you have to install an engine plugin instead of using your engine's presets ehehe
My bad, pentagons
Oh?
the last part is a bit tongue in cheek but yeah they're anamorphic. In movies, they appear because you use a special lens on the camera that kinda squashes the whole picture together horizontally, and later when you're converting it you're pulling it apart again to get a natural aspect ratio, and those giant streaks appear. for an example, google 'jj abrams lens flare'
But in low-budget indie games you can often see if they're made in UE4 just from blurry TAA, SSAA, and these flares... https://d3kjluh73b9h9o.cloudfront.net/original/4X/b/7/7/b7738de55d068784a543363ae7551883746bf837.png
Chat is this real
well the yellow one is
that blue is a stock lens flare .png that even i used for fun
but yeah - ass effect had some obnoxious lens flares
the last game that should ever have any lens flares

goddamn catalyst, i swear to god
mfw a 'cinematic' game is cinematic because it's just cutscenes: :|
True it's a shame
mfw a "cinematic" game
Hey now cinematic also means good camera angles in game and effects
Come on now
it means unskipable walkie-talkies, sub-30 fps, crappy dialogue, predictable story and probably a bow and a lot of ferns and grassy places
GTA V was none of those and it was priddy gud :P
bonus points for QTEs during which your character keeps panting and saying to themselves "i can make it"
I know you mean TLOU but cinematic games actually existed before Sony
yeah i had to remember Quantum Break yesterday, what a mess of a game
nah i was actually thinking of the tomb raider reboot series
tlou1 actually has some solid writing, surprisingly
Silent Hill, MGS, GTA 4 and V, Death Stranding, were pretty cinematic without being packed full of cutscenes tbh
Well besides MGS4
That game as good as it is was very cutscene driven
god this was such an ass-backwards take, i...
i...
i don't even know where to begin
oh!
i know!
i could begin by having a beer
and then not finishing this argument

It's true though these games aren't the Sony type of cinematic
They are actually good 🙀
Oh I can count the fixed camera Resident Evil games too
gta4 and 5 being good?
mate i don't know what sort of stuff you're on but i want some
Yes they are good games lol
i'd even go as far as argue against 5 being called a "game"
ok
alright

one beer might not be enough for this...
see you in an hour
or like
5
or longer even
well i don't
you don't enjoy reading your stuff?
hell no
why write it then
Ah right this reminds me
wednesday we get playstation showcase
yet curiously, STILL NO GAMES
god help us
We might get a new Factions from Naughty Dog
i wonder how many remakes and/or remasters are they going to show
@fathom juniper
i'd say at least 3
something for you
More of Mortal Kombat 1, hopefully more of Death Stranding 2
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake Isn't a PlayStation Exclusive
https://t.co/pVUwEqD1Lm

jesus you scared the crap out of me
and there's a slim chance of Silent Hill 2 Remake and an even slimmer chance of MGS3 Remake
i thought i triggered the profanity filter again
ok
folks
hold up
can we take a moment to talk about this for a sec?
Can't wait for this
or just... slow down and take a closer look at the absolute state
Yes.
ONE is a complete reboot (to a point it might as well be a remake)
and a sequel
what in the absolute fatherducking
AAAAAAAA
...
three beers it is then
What I'm hoping for on showcase is HFW port, but probably too soon for that
Im praying Legacy collection is real
Maybe since 2008 they spent all this time porting MGS4 for PC
@fathom juniper I knew you would like that tweet
eh
"isn't a playstation exclusive" doesn't mean "it will come to PC"
so i wouldn't hold my breath
it might as well just mean "yo echsbawks will get a port too"
no it's not
exactly, they would be idiotic to do a port to xbox and not PC
not in a long shot
and even if
even IF they port that to PC
what's...
what's the point of it, anyway?
no i mean - from a perspective of a ||and i hate that word|| gamer
a fan of the series
so wait
after all konami has done
after being out of the gaming for over a decade
after all the fiascos they had
after flushing all their IPs down the drain
after focusing on actual gambling in that time
do you seriously want to pay 70 bucks for a remake?
OR
or
and hear me out here
you could get the OG, not give those greedy kunts a single dime and play it they way it was intended - back when the series creator was still behind the steering wheel
also i just proved how pointless that profanity filter really is
i'm gonna get a timeout in about 10 seconds so
how long
iunno
first of all - it's PS2, not 3
and second - emulation exists
pretty sure there's a ps3 version as well
oh there is
i've got one
or is that too remaky for you too?
but it's not the only way to play
nah that's fine - i'm fine with that one
it didn't change anything about the gameplay (well maybe besides the multiplayer servers being dead), it didn't change anything about the artstyle
and it was a proper package of 3 great games for a price of 1
consoles are the place where good games go to die
forever tied to an aging hardware that's sure to kick the bucket sooner or later
no support, no spare parts
you just have to cling to your old ps2 and pray to god for it to boot up again
and pay god knows how much for that rare, used and abused disc copy of your favorite game
no im gonna pirate it lmfao
do i?
I mean it seems to me like you do
good
nah i don't
i'm the type of guy that will take even the most broken PC port gladly
because if it IS broken
someone out there will fix it for you in a matter of days
quite often faster and better than publishers themselves
i mean - one look at fallout new vegas (and... actually ALL bethesta games, now that think about it
) is all you need to see that
NV was legendarily broken
to a point it is still sometimes IMPOSSIBLE TO ACTUALLY FINISH IT on a console
a proper build that was sold for premium back on ps3
I mean, that's true of pretty much any Bethesda game, makes sense Obsidian kept the spirit of it
oh right FNV is getting a sequel
meanwhile modders took that broken mess of a wonderful game and took care of it for over a decade turning it into what is the best RPG experience of my life
or how about doom
Skyrim was released in like 6 different editions and the last one still has same bugs as the first one
do you really think doom would see THIRTY GODDAMN YEARS of constant, unending support and new content if it was released on consoles?
nah
i mean - doom has had more years of support from its fans than most people here had from their parents
which is insane
anyway
beer

ironically, im just two years older than doom, but that still applies
how's your back and your knees?
both don't let me hold the body up in the vertical state for long
also, Starbound
after the game was if not killed, but pretty much mostly ruined by its own devs
and for several years there wasn't a single update
there are still lots of mods coming out even now
replaced meteor with earthquake axe
also just had a run with +107% damage on my basic arcana💀

God Fallout 1 and 2 were so well made
literally bought the game while it was still in development and enjoyed the game play aspect of it more during like the early alpha builds, and by the time full launch hit i had zero interest in it. so disappointed. there were some good things about the final build but by then i was so turned off i didn't care
That's pretty much the story of 90% of early access games I purchase
starbound was such a letdown
humble doesnt show dates on my keys but if you remember the old preorders then you know how old this is lol https://gyazo.com/564d88071158e46372f17f905b4db10c
as it turns out, having a drink before playing my rhythm game helps. Not the coordination part or focus, but with the finger pains
I managed to get few high scores
that being said, please drink responsibly
I wish, in V Rising, I could start a dialogue with the villigers so I don't have to kill them for their resources and can instead at least pull a protection grift or something
i like maxor
happy convergence day 👍
This video was uploaded from an Android phone.
Good LORD since when was this a thing
Kojima games surely aren't stranger to weird ass tie ins and promotions
Also I only realised now how ROBBED I was from the content Subsistence had compared to HD
MGS Portable Ops was literally proto Pokemon Go. I learned that in Japan if you attached the GPS on the PSP you could go in certain places and earn special soldiers.
Kind of late, but yeah i agree
I feel like so many games get caught up in doing these big, cinematic games that want to be a movie
And i'm just thinking in my head "Is the gameplay gonna suffer for these fancy layers of paint, or is this gonna be worth the $60 i spent on"
cough cough looking at you Last of Us, ya left Crash in a ditch & shot Jak & Daxter for a glorified Walking Dead movie
I also just dont care for stuff like the Telltale games that do this, and i'm like "If you wanted to make this a show or movie, WHY DIDNT YOU PITCH THIS AS A SHOW OR MOVIE IN THE FIRST PLACE"
Like if i wanted to watch a show or movie, i'd watch..... a show or movie.
I'm not saying ditch storytelling & cinematic stuff in games, but don't over stuff it and lose the point of a game
theres certainly a limit but shows and games are fundamentally handled differently in regard to narrative
"why didnt you pitch this as a movie" because the process is different
That's a good point
i understand the frustration tho
i feel like walking sims/narrative focused games offer an more immersive experience that movies/shows can’t provide
But when stuff gets a bit too story centric or it feels like i might as well put my controller down for the next hour or 2, i'm just like "Oh gee i'm sure glad i didn't need to open Netflix, because this game did it for me"
then again i’m a big fan of walking sims
mhm they’re not for everyone
Which looks pretty cool despite me missing a good majority of the 2010 era indies until like 2017
One of my more favorite indie games period, does a fantastic job of showing you the lore & the game's world without going too overboard with exposition
Anyone care to guess? (It's 2D & was released in the 2010's era)
Papers, Please?
Never played that one
probably should've given another hint lol
Your protagonist is very tiny
celeste or baba
My money is on hollow Knight
Ori
Usually in games I rarely pay attention to the story at all it rarely grasps me and gameplay in games is above absolutely everything for me
The only games I remember playing where I stopped for the story and listened to it is transistor and project wingman
They have very good story
Grasped me
Everything else though, not quite enough to pull me out of the annoyance of having my gameplay being interrupted
@sand sleet no mention of hades 🫢
2d game
Got it right
at first i thought "but hk is a recent game, it was not released in 2011 or so", then remembered, that it's already 6 years old and 2017 still counts as 2010s
also yeah, it utilizes dark souls approach to the lore, which makes it closer to 2d soulslike
as much as i hate to admit it, but games can be pretty good without deep story or any story at all, if they have good gameplay
good and grasping story can't compensate mediocre or boring gameplay, however
unless there's no gameplay beside "choose an option what to do/say"
okay so
it feels like I'm working
so
as a sim
it's pretty good
on the other
I don't want to play this game after day 1
cause it feels like I'm working
there are.... several issues with it that can be improved as far as a sim goes
like you can't put the takeway cups UNDER the portafilter. that's dumb. That hinders with workflow and I hate it.
but most importantly
you don't do dishes

at least the early days don't
Well I mean I already knew 90% of hades lore before playing it
Fun stuff happened. At the tutorial, I had to make an espresso and serve it to customer. After making it, instinctively, I cleaned portafilter, THEN serve the espresso. But after that, the game wants me to clean the portafilter....
Which
I already cleaned
But the game doesn't register it as clean
So I had to make a new one to get it dirty and then clean it again
I know it doesn't have dynamic interaction but

That gave me a laugh
bro this channel is so annoying
i love when people wrongfully interpretating my favorite games to suit their rightoid agendas
And uses Death Stranding as an example of why we are sad and also shoe horns in so many stupid talking points
Like no we are not sad and lonely because we refuse to have kids or anything, clearly the scope of the game was not procreation but human connection and understanding each other beyond a superficial level
Also the comment sections are just whiny bigots but yeah this is getting somewhere else but it's getting annoying
Iron Harvest has some sick art in their loading screens
Finished the new Zelda
the image on the embed is such an aesthetic
ikr
i love this artist so goddamn much
at least it seems like that artist
which it probably is

Didn't realize the Gris devs were making another game!!

Gollum is the worst thing I've played this year. In fact, it's the worst thing I've play...
Who would have thought!

I didn't know this
I just had that clip in my recommended today
Don't even know the game
Are you spying on me?
bold of you to assume i have that much free time
Lmao FNV is free on epic
i swear pirating it from GOG seems MUCH safer and hassle free
Do you also have phases where you just can't find joy in gaming? I want to play games but when i start them, they bore me. 😓
Kinda
I have something similar with JRPGs that when i start one i usually just drop off of em for some reason (Lookin at you Xenoblade 1)
Stupidest take I ever heard
Hope the journo made his money from this article at least
But how did The Last of Us change stealth games? By not being one?
falling for TheGamer, which makes these articles to bait people into talking about them
also don't understand this, is epic bad still a thing people say
Also something dumb about the article
Hitman as a series already existed when mgs3 released
exclusives, lack of features, etc
yeah but those have no relation to handing out free games, which is where most people go "epic bad" for
i don't even think the exclusive thing is that bad, its still on the same platform just a different icon
and its not like there's any other real way to try to compete with steam lol
that said their client is pretty terrible
yeah it's awful and games work badly sometimes
a pirated gog game works way better
sometimes more like often and the client is very slow
and the website takes half a year to load
and to find and put a torrent on download takes less time than for the client to launch
I've had bigger issues playing games on steam than on epic
but the big thing is that competition is good for indie devs
so I'm all for it
also just installed iron harvest
yeah monopoly sucks
I like the tutorials from the characters childhood
Desperados 3 also had the same thing
Unfortunately so far it seems the gameplay is also slow
I like that they have native voiceover tho
I can even understand some things lol
seems more responsive so far though than like company of heroes
and units have hit points so probably game doesn't just roll a dice every shot and you only hit if it's a 20
Is it polish? It seems like polish but I'm bad at differentiating different slavic languages
I can only recognize ukrainian and maybe belorusian
Because they're the closest to russian probably
The world seems like alternate universe with just more native aesthetic
I dig it
yooo the rusviets are speaking russian
mfw there's like 5 russians that do all the official dubs and voice literally everything
so far it seems like company of heroes but better and cooler
gameplay wise I mean
are there any other rts as micro intensive as starcraft
I played a little Barista Simulator (again) and found a funny detail
An espresso costs 30 dollars, I didn't set it, the game did.
Coffee beans per 250ml costs 5 dollars, each espresso uses 30ml
That means base cost of an espresso is 0.6 dollars
The game marks up coffee at 50x
I wish I could do that IRL
The beans companies do it instead of you
yeah polania = polish
saxony = german
and then there's usonia which is usa lmao
so like, when the rusviet guy is talking to polanians, they just speak in their respective languages or what?
The rusviet soldier they like talk to each other and they talk in russian
And the polanians speak in polish to each other
And when the rusviet guy was talking to pietr they talked in their respective languages yes
There's an option at the start to turn on native voiceover
i didnt turn it on because didnt wanna miss somethings. stuff without subtitles like unit lines while fighting
they're all in respective languages it's very cool
I understand like 15% of what polanians say and 100% of what rusviets say
nice
I love slavic dieselpunk
so uh couple hours in
gameplay is basically coh2 but better
enemy ai is bad tho, kiting is just ez win
aesthetics is the best thing ever
holy. crap.
Gollum that game LOCKED BEHIND A PAYWALL THE ELVISH LANGUAGE
as if the base game wasn't BAD enough
if there's anything more I can want for in iron harvest it is a pepelaz
I always take so long in rts campaigns smh
I always build a huge army and advance very positionally
end up taking like an hour on every mission
@fathom juniper
okay it's game theory time
In MGSV Ground Zeroes you don't actually play as the actual Big Boss, it's a recreation of the events that were hypnotized into your brain by the actual Big Boss
@mystic wave whats ur limbus profile? if ur ok with me adding you :]
I mean that is proven straight up false by PP
of course!
yayy sent
i think the image is funny too bc it looks like don talking to heathcliff LOL
lmao
You don’t play as big boss
You’re playing as some random-ass medic who’s larping as BB while doing what is basically a glorified side quest
That was my point?
it's not really a recreation of events or whatever
the stuff in this game happens to you
as in the medic
in real time
you know what they say about learning from mistakes
especially those made by other people
so wait
one of the best stealth games with a plethora of movement and camera options, great enemy AI, robust camo system, a big pile of toys with different uses and probably the best set of survival mechanics ever put into an AAA game should learn from a depressed dad simulator where most stealth is just crouch-walking behind chest high walls and throwing empty beer bottles?
where enemies are deliberately programmed to turn their backs to you and just straight up ignore your companions?
get out of here
don't get me wrong - TLOU1 is a great game
but it's remembered for its story and writing
its gameplay - while polished - is still "servicable" at best
I haven't played TLOU but I'm wondering if its enemy AI was any good
one of the big immersion breakers for me in stealth games is how easy alert resets are.
"WHERE DID STEVE GO?" 2 seconds later, "Huh, guess nothing's going on, I mean, steve's still missing but he's probably just taking a leak or something ig"
must've been the wind
well MGS does that a lot
to a point that it literally gives you a timer that represents that exact thought process in a numerical value
but the AI itself is actually really good
a bit acrade-y in a sense, but it's still good - they react to a lot of things
also MGS3 has the added benefit of guards actually using their camouflage
their spotted green uniforms blend in really well against grassy green backgrounds
they're basically using the same tools as you - camouflage and patience
as for TLOU...
i'd describe its AI as "cinematic"
enemies aren't really smart, they don't really use any kind of tactics
but they are programmed to create tension by doing stuff like getting reaaaaally close to the chest high wall you're hiding behind and not turning the corner to spot you
or looking for something only to look the other way at just the right moment for you to stab them
this sort of thing
also the fact that they're straight up ignoring your AI partners EVEN AFTER BUMPING INTO THEM is just...
Hey, can I send youtube links on this channel? It's not self promotion, just an interesting video I found

In this episode, we...
Ellie can walk in front of them and nothing happens lol
Wouldnt it have been better to just give her own separate AI that knows her path and such rather than stick like a magnet to Joel
I mean, if I was forced to have a companion during a stealth section that I couldn't control, I'd be pissed if they could be detected and ruin my stealth
Better, yes. Feasible? iffy.
Makes sense but I think my suggestion would make more sense than just zoom in front of the enemy AI
Then again it's their fault for making the whole game a damn escort mission
Something something bioshock infinite something something ytterbium
MGS2 wasnt that bad tbh
there was a stealth game I played many years ago called Shadwen, pretty average stealth fare but the gimmick was that you were also escorting this girl through the levels
and if she witnessed you killing guards or people/found their bodies it had a bad influence on her
which I thought was a neat idea
the ai wasn't particularly great though
that's a cool concept
Would have worked as a method to actively show how the player is desentivizing Ellie
as if she hadn't been through enough
Also I cant recall it but can you play TLOU non lethally?
Ok apparently not that's frickin stupid for a post apocalyptic game
desentivizing ellie meter rising
Hey now they can make it more subtle
Like Venom Snake's horn growing when he kills tons of people
Oh also this reminds me, why wouldnt they let you play the game non lethally, BOTH games especially since the 2nd preaches about revenge being bad yet you have to kill most you encounter
naughty dog likes playing with you
they want you to feel complicit
not do what you want to do
We have a very special, very different video for you all today. This isn't a review of The Last of Us Part II. This is an understanding of The Last of Us Part II. #tlou2 #TheLastOfUs #NaughtyDog

woe unto me for engaging in tlou2 discussion but its hard to feel complicit in doing a thing if you don't have the option not to do the thing
only game that managed to go "haha you suck for killing people!!!" without letting you not do that and not have the message feel pointless is spec ops the line
and thats not even really about violence bad anyways
games make tradeoffs of player agency for narrative purposes all the time

I'm just being a meta reactionary
Reactionarying to the reactionaries
I haven't played any TLOU games nor really do I have any intention to
i remember Dishonored.. with its approach of "there are 2857 options to remove enemies from existence and perform cinematically awesome executions, but when you use them, you'll get bad ending"
on one hand, it gives you freedom to do as you seem fit, on another it clearly states what are you supposed to do
I always thought that getting a bad ending is not actually a bad thing
You can’t have your cake and eat it too I guess. Also the endings are really cool
How can't I have my cake and eat it if when I eat it it's in my tummy and I have it thus
yeah dishonored is pretty bad about it too
the first one at least, in DH2 they gave nonlethal cool powers too so it doesn't feel like you're playing a worse version of the game to get the 'good ending'
so it at least learned from that
I wanna try Bioshock at some point
I got all 3 of the remasters as part of a free thing on EGS when it was new-ish
and yes, about bioshock3, it doesn't really feel like an escort mission or something, since Elizabeth actually knows how to position herself and hide when necessary better than most players in online shooters
while also finding some ways to provide you with ammo, heals, mons and what not
never screaming something like "BOOKEEER!! HEELP!!" like some others
also about actual escort missions in other games.. why in the world it's a rule to make npc walk slower than usual player's speed, but faster than player's walking speed?..
why is it necessary to run behind them in short rushes, with constant stops?..
