designed by committee mayonnaise of a game

it checks all the boxes of this safe modern AAA game design
it's open world, it's attached to a beloved IP, it's got sidequests and color-coded loot, really light RPG mechanics and the same goddamn UI language every game under the sun has nowadays

add a pinch of empty marketing buzzwords, a little drizzle of performance issues, stir it for a week with some expected controversy to get more buzz around the game, bake for a few years at 70 deg... i mean - dollars and boom - you've got your tasteless AAA dish ready

it's a glitch that messes up your animations so that every movement of any body part of your character is halved
so if there's an animation in which your character raises their arm by 90 degrees, with poopwalk on it's just 45 degreees

so it makes you slower, it makes it look like you crapped your fancy armored pants
and it makes all the gestures look really, really sad

like - their first game - remember me - was just an amazing show of talent everywhere
the sound design, music, animations, tech and the sheer damn artistry of level design were just top notch
the gameplay was lacking a bit, but hey - it was their first full game

but i was really curious to see what they're gonna do next

The bosses being easy and regular mobs being really hard was my experience as well, I think I only got through 1 or 2 proper bosses

and what sucks that is that...
not only this backwards difficulty makes playing ds2 a boring chore
cause you're replaying the same tough walk of shame only to get to a mediocre climax at the end - the bossfight

but during said bossfight the music just... hard cuts to nothing the moment you land the finishing blow

it's so jarring
this simple little detail just takes all the hype away

it's like im listening to music on spotify and suddenly my headphone jack unplugs

it's like "oh here's this legendary knight, a demigod driven mad by darkness, turning hollow with every last breath, ready to fight you to the death just to save his hon-"

you finally slay it, it slowly goes down going aaeiieeeeajdksjadd, the music slowly fades out you get that woosh sound, [PREY SLAUGHTERED], and just as you're catching your breath...
it's literally raining blood

now THAT'S how you hype up a bossfight

and then you look at your character and they're literally covered head to toes in viscera
