did something i thought i'd never be doing in hades 1. i finally got skelly's last statue after 3 years of owning this game. Granted, about half of that time has been spent more on hades 2, and even more from pivoting to other games prior to hades 2 early access. I credit the time away with helping burnout recovery from when i'd initally sunk a bunch of hours into hades 1 in a very short time back in winter 2022. additionally, I feel that the time spent with other games (mostly hades 2 and slay the spire, with a little balatro philosophy) has trained my opportunity recognition and made my decision making and planning less heuristic dependent, something that had been making my initial gameplay with hades 1 frustrating on account of the heuristics being overly generalizing, thus not sufficiently opportunistic (as heuristics can tend to be). my micro ability to use the aspects' movesets correctly (or at least better) probably got cleaner as well, especially after playing 24 new aspects in hades 2 and grinding a decent amount with each of them.

i got this win on my first attempt running ruthless reflex with gilgamesh, all credit to haelian from his artemis gilgamesh video (but also not because i definitely got stuck running +1 dash as a heuristic from his mirror guide lmao). the run itself was pretty scary at the start, burning 2 dds by the end of tartarus. was able to stick it through to buy a well dd and score a lucky patty dd, so i somehow left em3 heroes with all 3 dds. no heart rend or smoldering air despite numerous opportunities for both to drop, oh well. i'm impressed i didn't need the duo help and proud that the rest of my decisions and gameplay were enough to get the job done. It is also very fair and sometimes humerously unfair.

It is also designed so that you win in the end.

Skill still required but that can be gained through gameplay

It also gets a tad too grindy in the late seconds of it.

First 32 heat win - After getting all the statues in Hades II, I wanted to go back and get my last statue in Hades 1. It was definitely a lot more difficult than II, as has been widely discussed. But I had fun doing it - took me about 36 attempts, most with Hestia Rail. I was consistently dying at [REDACTED] 2nd phase, but I had 80% Hard Labor on because I didn't want to deal with Forced Overtime at first (was getting rocked when I first tried it). But then I finally won after flipping those 2 pacts - 0% Hard Labor, 40% Forced Overtime. I love these games!!

equal difficulty-level between both games will generally be more accessible in hades 2

62 heat for example is kinda hell, meanwhile 62 ||fear|| can be done very consistently. the same is true for every other level (to some lesser extent, the lower you go).

You may not have noticed it because you don't speedrun but it's quite a common occurrence, and loses the player 3 seconds minimum.

Just to be sure you have the right vocabulary:
"Fresh File" = winning for the first time from a new save file (regardless of run-count). Sometimes used synonymously with "First Run", that is to say beating the game on run 1.

In other words, your run was not a "fresh file" clear unless you're talking about your first win on the save file.

My first heated run! I just wrapped up escaping with each weapon. I ran it back with shield just to see how 8 heat was for the first trophy. I'm starting to take more training wheels off and many of my runs no longer have any deaths. High heat here I come!

Forced overtime 2 makes enemies spawn faster and extreme measures 2 makes the hydra arena smaller so less running around and better grouping on the smaller heads

50 Heat - 1 Shot, 1 Kill Build
I know it’s considered sub optimal especially once you get to Elysium and the Surface but Hestia rail was the only thing that was consistently getting me out of Tartarus in under 5 minutes so I stuck with it and became determined to make it work. Had some good runs with Demeter and Aphro attack but in the end Artemis and her crits won out.
MVP boon was easily Battle Rage … once I got that I was one-shotting most enemies in Elysium and it’s a godsend, pun intended, in the Hades fight because his skulls count as enemies and die in one hit, meaning I would kill then and then regularly hit Hades for 800+ damage, or 1.5k+ if it crit.
Stubborn defiance + Achilles ToSD meant going into the final fight with near max HP.

Posted the heat page so you can see my choices more clearly. EM4 Hades with +40% speed at the end of a high heat run is actual madness so I had to work around that.
In victory I left the arena and Homer threw GOAT up on the screen. It was the perfect ending. GG Hades

if you were to ever try this again, I'd recommend swapping out Calisthenics Program 1 for an extra tier of Jury Summons. some viable 50 pacts have JS1 CP1, but that's only because hellmode forces the two.

It was a tough balance to strike. My build had to be really good going into Elysium or I would run out of time, I reasoned the extra 15% health was unlikely to be costing me more time than having 20% more enemies. I probably died to tight deadline more than any actual enemy while attempting this.

here's the thing though: calisthenics affects bosses. hestia's main damage-problem is damage heroes and dad.

also, if you barely happen to NOT 1shot an enemy, that's sad. calisthenics program means you're 1shotting less later on in elysium and even more notably styx.

anyway, that aside, good hestia pact, very good build, gg

I know but I just wanted to GET to Dad … I probably made it to him 5 or 6 times out of dozens of attempts and when I did maybe 4 of my deaths were due to carelessness and greed and not time. Thanks for the kudos, haven’t felt so accomplished since beating Sigrun in GoW 2018

I’d like to say thanks to all of you folks who’ve shared so many useful tips and pieces of advice here!

Build guide by leereamsnyder and Hestia guide by Zyruvias are fantastic! Not just for Hestia aspect, but for the whole game. I can't appreciate the authors of those guides enough.
I've always struggled with the lack of time when using Hestia Rail - the (re)loaded attack is beefy, but it's hard to clear crowds quickly so clearing rooms would just take toooo long. Champions were also a problem because I was always running out of time. I only overcame this by seeking for Dionysus boons on special and cast - AOE damage helps a lot. Ricochet Fire also helps, but I’ve always preferred Piercing Fire when I had a chance -- lining up a few wretches for multiple kills in a single shot can be tricky, but it’s absolutely doable — and the results are totally worth the practice.

The prizes are just cosmetic but if you want to fully upgrade all the weapons completing the heat bounties is the easiest way to do that.
