Yeah, it's really nice how the story continues to move even if you die; at the same time though I'm also curious to see how / if the story changes if I progress faster, since I'm not sure if there's any "missable" story if I die too much

I'm not really a new player, but do have a question. I decided to splurge on a 'court music' song (Good riddance). But, when I select it Opheus doesn't sing it. I tried also with Lament of Zagreus, but again Opheus doesn't sing it.

What am I doing wrong?

Do I need a contract for that?

Also, which song should I buy where both Opheus and Eurydice sing?

Hello, just got the game like a day or two ago on switch (mainly so I can play at work) still trying to figure out the whole builds thing, I’ve made it up to hades by just winging it but haven’t defeated him yet

Depends, I've done it before especially if I'm using the keepsake for that Olympian, as that will increase the rarity chance. But the further you are, the fewer chances you have to get it back.

Alright, this game is getting frustrating. People seem to sort of imply it's fairly easy, but I just can't get past Elysium consistently. I've beaten Dark Souls so it's not like I am unfamiliar with "getting good"

Only 2 ways back to the start. The “give up” button or actually dying. For the first ~60% of the game you probably don’t care about the difference, but actually dying truly re-racks the game state which can matter some a little later, while “give up” resets it to as it was before you left

Generally it’s always better to die, even early on. You keep the darkness etc you gained, you lose that if you hit “give up”

The only off the top of my head reasons not to die are A., the run gets put into the records, B., you lose your current streak (which doesn't matter if you've yet to finish a run), and C., you miss talking to people/giving gifts if you've yet to do so

Dem just has a large burst damage button on deck which is nice for speed and power, where talos is more of a generalist aspect

So, the thing is, Max talos just opens up more options. Lvl 1 talos fundamentally changes up how you play fists for the better, and that’s the important part. As you scale the bonus talos really becomes more of a hybrid cast weapon on top of a strong melee fighter, which is where it gets its reputation for having more generalist builds and play

Also max talos opens up talos w/ heavy knuckle hammer which is a more fun version of hidden fists aspect imo

Start with his keepsake, then pick up any boons from new gods until you have boons from 4 different gods (Lord Hermes and Master Chaos don't count). From there on, any boons you see will be only from the 4 gods you already have.

If you have boons from fewer than 4 gods, any boon you see will be from a random god out of the 8 available ones.

1/4 is a much better chance than 1/8.

Switching to the Chthonic Coin Purse in Asphodel will give you more money to buy any boons from Lord Ares you come across.

@fading cypress you can use the mirror talent Fated Authority to get a few more chances at getting the god you want.

If you use Fated Authority, miniboss chambers can only reroll into boons, so that's your best chance for rerolling into a god of your choice.

If you don't see the god you want after 2 rerolls, there's no point in spending more rerolls on that door. You'll just keep rotating the options you've already seen. Just save them for another attempt later on.

The exception, of course, is using a god keepsake to force another god to appear.

They have 1 charge. As long as you have a charge, the next boon you see will be from that god. When you pick up a boon from that god, you lose the charge.

You should see a little 1 under the keepsake.

You will still get the rarity bonus, but it won't force the god again.

If you switch to a different god keepsake, that one will have a charge again.

Most commonly, people use a god keepsake in Tartarus and then a different god keepsake in Asphodel to go for a specific build from those two gods.

God keepsakes don't recharge.

You can skip boons from that god, and it will retain the charge and keep forcing the god, but once you pick up a boon from that god, the charge is used up.

Mind you, it doesn't increase the odds of a boon appearing, it just guarantees that the next boon will be from that god.

So, this can be good if e.g. you want a Mirage Shot build and start with the Conch Shell for Flood Shot, and the exits are Lady Artemis or Poseidon. Those two gods are who you need for Mirage Shot, so you can take Lady Artemis here knowing that the next boon offer will definitely be from Poseidon.

But if you took Poseidon right away, you don't know if you will see Lady Artemis again because any future boons will be random.

You'd have to take her keepsake in Asphodel to force her.

Only applies to a single room at a time though. So if two boon rooms spawn as Nya said, only one of them will be the forced god

yeah it depends on a few things. I'm not positive exactly, but there are usually 2 copies of hermes in both asphodel and elysium. Not sure how many boons there are in the pool of rewards (not including miniboss etc). Tartarus has 2 copies of the boon reward, so assuming asphodel was the same, you would have equal chances to have it one way or the other assuming you get at least one of the two by the midboss (which is the absolute worst case to see your god)

obviously your god could also end up on an erebus gate which may make you unable to take it as early

anyone got any tips to deal with styx poison?

once i get hit by it in the early chambers it just shreds my health

and it's hard for me to kite since the room's so small and i've been playing rail

if you’re really struggling try taking a) athena boons to deflect poison attacks
b) ||patty’s keepsake for the imperviousness, gives you 1.5sec to run to a well|| or c) a shield aspect which can block attacks

if none of those are helping, honestly just practise dodging till u nail it

try the things camomile mentioned above, and also note that there are poison wells in every styx chamber, just try to remember their location and then go there as soon as you get poisoned

hey, i recently started Hades ( 1 week ago) and managed to beat ||hades|| with shield, poseidon sword and multiple times with chiron bow(i love it so much), but i'm struggling with fast weapons like the fists or the rail, i feel like the damage is pretty low and ||when he summons armored enemies i have to hit them a lot before killing them and meanwhile i get destroyed by hades' big spins.||
I have this problem pretty much only with ||hades|| because the other bosses are easier (except from theseus, but with enough patience i can beat him too)

I'd say if you do get a call wait until theseus second phase then unleash

So, focus bull, run away from spear throws by hiding behind pillars. Once you've killed bull, a good moment to get damage in is when he calls back his spear. He walks away from you for a couple of seconds, so get your damage in then, then dash away. Once you get to second phase, use your greater call (if you have one) and do the same thing, with avoiding big circle damage thingies in the mix. That's it!

Here's what I got:

1. I recommend using evergreen acorn, since they hit so hard five free hits gives you a lot of extra health
2. It's generally easier to kill Asterius first since he will stay near you and getting Theseus to half health triggers both bosses' more difficult phase
3. Theseus is vulnerable after he throws his spear, he always walks exactly away from you no matter where you are. Always get a counterattack in after he recovers his spear.
4. Save a greater call for Theseus' god call animation and trigger it right when his shield goes down. Theseus does not block during that animation.

I wouldn't consider myself good at this game so take this with a grain of salt.|| I usually take Acorn. That doesn't necessarily help with second round but it'll probably save you a death defiance or two heading into the second round. For his 3 laser attack you can get behind him and put some good damage on him. Use the pillars for his full 360 lasers, just hide behind. For the pots, if I have a dash that will pop them I try to just dash through them and pop them to get rid of them safely to open up a bit of the map for myself.|| Hope that helps a little bit. Unless that is stuff you already know.

And you can beat ||1 heat|| without having done it on ||0 heat||, but you wont get the reward for ||0 heat||
