Can the second phase green waves be dodged somehow or you just basically must be outside their range and that's it (beside preventing them from firing obv)

So my reasoning for praying for Athena is because I thought she gives me invulnerability in dash, but now I realize she just deflects the attack, inv is innate in any dash

final boss drops another + after that you unlock the best way to farm blood.

Okay, are there weapons that like Doom? And on what part of the build?

E.g. wouldn't it fit nicely on sword special since it covers a wide area? I like to have doom for fights where I have to defer my usual tactic. No one seems to recommend it here.

Also, interestingly (this is my first action roguelite ever so bear with me here) the best success I had was with Spear and the first time I reached that one unnamed fight was with it, but check this out - it was too complicated for me to use both its special AND the swipe attack, so I ditched both and just relied on long range autoattack has. Weird but it worked.

What are some good choices for potentially playing Spear that way, which I know is not optimal?

(Regarding this run: I have Stubborn Roots which I'm unsure if I could use, unless it's specifically kept for that one unnamed fight which I still haven't won. Should I sell it for 425g and use it for some good stuff or is it a clutch that will allow me to maybe finally get through? I'm on 2/3 Defiances now, messed up one boss fight. Entering Elysium. )

Doom has pretty much 1 build

Merciful End lets you bypass the doom waiting period

it’s the Athena + Ares duo

Doom is quite good overall. You usually want it on parts of the moveset that are fast and used continuously. Merciful End is the most common build. On sword you can run it with Doom attack and Athena Special then proc it ideally with Divine Dash.

If you want to focus on the spear special, you are gonna be very hammer reliant but it's quite decent. You are looking for Exploding Launcher + Charged Skewer. Ideally in that order too since exploding launcher is the main thing. The other option is to get the hidden aspect of the spear which essentially has the built in exploding launcher so you become just reliant on getting Charged Skewer. Aside from that you can just put a % boon on your special and thats it.

1. pretty much, because even if you put something iirelevant in, you immediately boost your boon consistency, because as long as any of the 4 are open, the game will force 1 option to be a core boon
2. you cannot get meta currency on the same option as a boon, since boons are gold laurel rewards and metacurrency are blue laurel rewards. But yes, you can skip over gods if they have nothing to offer you anymkre

you just want zeus strike, static discharge from zeus, and they you can really put on any +% special (ideally like artemis or aphrodite)

Got Ares' autoattack, still early Tartarus and there's Demeter boss room. What do I do, and not just this time but in general when there's a god I don't know what to do about. I've just got these choices:

Epic special from Demeter (probably not spectacular)

Rare Frozen Touch (my pick I guess)

Rare Snow Burst (situational, I guess, maybe if I knew which cast I'd get)

I guess skipping on Athena's special along with the planned Dash would be a shame

Ill give you a few general tips. Firstly, if you are aiming for a duo boon, you want to make sure you only keep that one open; so if you are aiming for Athena + Ares = Merciful End, then opening up another Duo Boon with Demeter would ruin your odds significantly so avoid that. The second thing is to not mess up your Duo boon requirements; so in this case you want Athena Special and nothing else, you have no ways of opening up the duo aside from that. Lastly, most builds are pom heavy, if you have the option to, do not pick a pommable boon. In this case you cant do much about it so just pick something that doesnt affect the rest of the build/plan and is somewhat useful. In this specific case since you already have curse of agony, picking up frozen touch would open up the vengeful mood duo if im not mistaken, so id take snow burst.

On a side note, that doesn't prevent me from realizing it's not the lack of certain boons but my play in general with the Sword is lacking.

What are some main tips and tricks when it comes to gameplay? Mobility, stab, retreat, avoid damage, repeat? Dance like a butterfly, sting like a bee?

For swords often times the best rotation is “dash strike twice, special, repeat”
And you may need to replace one of those dash strikes with a regular dash for invincibility. Optimally, you don’t want to retreat but rather pivot.

Basically you don’t want to move out, but around. Never lower your offensive output, but that also means don’t attack so recklessly you forgo dodging.

In general in Hades the strikes reach farther than you think, so it's a lot easier to dash forward through everything that to try and build distance.

So the issues are reckless stubbornness, e.g. I've just took some damage, I'm gonna take it out on them instead of retreating to safety and reconsidering options.

Second: no experience in such games, I get overwhelmed and panic.
