Zagreus is ignorant of the surface, for obvious reasons, but he knows the Underworld inside-out. And he understands family better than anyone, instinctively. There are some comments in the game that he doesn't think things through, but his instincts about family always prove right in the end, that's how he brings all the families together.

Yeah, he is hungry for knowledge and he uses that which he's managed to acquire pretty impressively well, especially considering how forcibly sheltered he's been.

(Tangent, but I love the way he's always so pleased whenever he smashes an urn and coins fall out. It's one point on which he's always like a little kid. "Oh hey, money!" )

we mentioned fav songs in #h1-discussion! i just wanted to write a lil on why i like Lament of Orpheus so much.. it's just so simple and poignant. Orpheus loses his ability to sing because he loses Eurydice. he loses music both as a source of joy, but also a way to process pain - and that's how he returns to music. i just think it's so cool that like.. when we do get to a breakthrough with Orpheus, it comes in the form of a familiar way to process grief.

i mean of course he sings about losing Eurydice, nothing else would have made sense. it's simple. but to me the song just sounds like. progress? when i hear Lament of Orpheus it's not just the song but the fact that this song is his first return to music. it's mourning, it's healing. it is always my favorite thing to listen to at the House

I’m sure this is unintentional, but the early dialogue between Zag and ||Persephone|| gets to me as the parent of a NICU grad. My (now) Toddler wasn’t in much danger of a bad ending, but listening to how ||Persephone|| talks to Zag brings up all of those feelings again. She just wants him to be well and with her. She wants so much to fix it but it’s all up to Zag. She can’t do anything but wait and hope it will come out okay. I will never forget how that feels.

More specifically to be called bad simply because you find a boss difficult. As I say, there are lots of reasons why people might find something difficult. Sometimes it's because they're not great at the game, sometimes it's because they don't have time to get good at it, sometimes it's because you have no peripheral vision and have to work around that barrier (me).

Actually I've beat Demon's Souls, DS1 and 2 and most of Bloodborne. Fromsoft's sound design is second to none and is a massive aid in allowing blind players who have the patience to learn something that most people take for granted. :)

I just wish my Thanatos RNG would be more favorable. I managed to escape hell twice and he has yet to show up at all to complain I want to escape :I

I think you have to do a certain number of escape attempts before he can show up. He'll appear very frequently after that.

First reached end at 17, first escape at 25, then pretty much at least up till Elysium boss, usually all the way through. I actually finished the basic storyline waiting for Thanatos to show up, because I refused to die to that Elysian fop and dying to rats in Styx seemed undignified 😄

you need to have seen all 3 furies

and not meet eurydice/sisyphus/patroclus for the first time during that run

and he will only appear in elysium for the first time

but he has a much higher chance of appearing than normal, the first time

But the odds are pretty good after the first time. And it's a bit higher if you skip mid-shop and friendship rooms because those can't be Than encounters.

Yeah, I skipped all the charon shops every time, all god trials, avoided all boss rooms I could. I only took Patroclus to progress that storyline (and they haven't coughed up the stuffed ant, either, since Achilles seems extremely keen to talk about literally everything). 25% chance obviously is too low for my blood 😄

the hair look and posture are nice, the pose gives the illusion of an hourglass figure but she has fairly broad features - especially her shoulders. If you compare that to statues or paintings of aphrodite her body shape is mostly consistent but subtle things like the broadness of her shoulders and the distribution of fat throughout her arms are definitely nontraditional

it was art that was made to celebrate an update, and added to the game for fun. it's technically not canon because of the fact the dialogue remarks on everyone having been doing their jobs while perse was in the house (thus before zag was born) and the full image has skelly's skull at the bottom, whom is established to meet zag for the first time at the start of the game. the inclusion in the game has confused a lot of people on timelines i think the joke was that nyx had it commissioned but she doesn't know about skelly either

So there's this hilarious myth wherein the Aloadai (two giants) get crushes on Hera and Artemis and storm Olympus with a plan to capture their waifus. The Olympians are, unsurprisingly, totally not okay with these giants building a mountain next to their super awesome mountain so there's a scuffle and the giants are driven off. After the dust settles though, they notice that Ares is missing.

The Aloadai had in fact succeeded in capturing that charismatic psychopath and, being unsure what to do with him, they chain him up in a bronze jar and just leave him in the basement for a year until Hermes and Artemis finally decide to come rescue the poor lad.

I like to think that Hades canon is that Ares is still trapped, and that is my justification for smashing every jar I come across.

Just don't use shield, try upping the heat with the punishment thing, add timer, up enemy health, give them more damage, etc. Make bosses harder. The game becomes a lot more intense, especially if you don't just block with the shield, it's a good tactic, just a bit cheesy
