The "God of ___" formulation isn't really how the ancients conceptualized their deities. It's not like these were religions with codified texts, it was mostly oral traditions passed on by cults of dedicated priests and devotees. The stories varied by region and different parts of Greece ascribed different traits to different Gods. Like in some places Apollo was the sun, but at other times Helios fills that role and Apollo is more strongly associated with "light" or poetry.

Zagreus bleeds red blood, which is something gods dont do. His father is god of the underworld and his mother is the godess of plant life. Blood is human life, so it is at least somewhat related to both. In addition, he uses bloodstones and death defiances as his main powers and he is reborn more than anyone. He is also hot headed (boiling blood, or hot blooded), responsible for managing blood pacts and repairing relationships (just as blood repairs mortal wounds), and he connects everyone just as blood and blood vessels connect everything in your body. Thus, he is the god of Blood, Life, and Rebirth.

Nectar and ambrosia both progress the story but so does speaking with everyone. Even people that don't seem related.

Yeah, exclamation means they have new dialogue

And you can only advance one storyline at a time. So if you gift nectar or whatever and they have an exclamation point, sometimes the nectar dialogue will take priority and you'll have to wait another round to advance that specific story.

Not always, but sometimes. Particularly with ||dusa and thanos as they'll disappear when you gift them things sometimes||

hello, so i just finished the main story earlier today, and I had a question. ||I am now currently "employed" by the House to continue escaping and I was wondering if there is going to be a moment later where the truth is revealed to the olympians, because persephone and hades claim that they're working on a plan rn. Does the story continue despite me being in the endgame now? I still have yet to become closer with people like thanatos, meg, and orpheus, so i know that there's still story content to unlock in those areas||

i just like how dynamic the convos get, this is the first roguelike i've ever played so i'm not sure if this is common occurrence, but i felt like these kind of interactions helped make my runs feel weightier, and not the same thing over and over

i've just finished watching it, the priority dialogue system put in place was really interesting to learn about, it really helped make the game feel influenced by my actions and made the story feel very well-paced regardless of how much i've unlocked

yea and thats one of the things i love about hades, rogue likes are on of my favorite genres but the story is always so linear and never dynamic or just investable. Something like gungeon or wizard of legend just are more of a slog because of that lack of interaction. And the constant new lines are just a treat and is a wonderful way to make death progress the game outside of "youll get farther"

usually he has high priority after you see him in a run (which i believe the trick to that is making sure you enter rooms with at least some damage?), i almost always did

Guan Yu does not technically have the requirement of just spending 5 titanblood. You WILL spend 5 or more blood on getting it available but that is derivative. What you have to do is unlock the lock icon on 5 aspects. They can't be Zag because Zag is already unlocked by default!

Theseus is a crowd player and he wants you to be his heel so he can be a face. He and Asterius both come around but Theseus is so tsun he has way too much pride to ever admit anything but Asterius and Hades are sometimes like "the king was asking what was taking you so long" or "Ha! The champion will be upset that you did not make it to your match" or something like that. That combined with Theseus being hurt that you didn't want his autograph kind of show between the lines that he enjoys fighting Zag more than he will ever admit.

Question || somewhere in the story, Theseus gets a depressive episode where he disagrees with Asterius about Zag being an opponent you should be careful around. Was that because he didn't want to admit that zag's a good opponent or depressed he can't beat him? ||

My take is more like ||Theseus has a really fragile sense of self-worth and can't handle the idea that his friend thinks of him as anything but perfect. Basically he's needy. (If you had to put a positive spin on it, I think Theseus has a similarly high impression of Asterius because his way of seeing the world is black-and-white)||

the expectation that it would be a bigger thing was on us, the players

like sure, i certainly wanted to see more than what happened but the game itself wasn't hyping up to that

Why is it that Zagreus dies from different causes like slipping on a banana and falling off a cliff when he reaches the surface instead of fading away from natural causes like at the garden?

My best guess, which probably is totally wrong but it makes sense to me, is that Zagreus is ||the god of blood and therefore is ill equipped for life upon the surface. If you think about it, he can defy death while in Hades several times, but his powers wane/disappear on the surface. If you watch the river Styx just before where Cerberus stands and guards the entrance, the water shifts from red to blue. Out in the blue Zagreus has his powers only for a limited time.||

||Maybe you followed along the story, or maybe you didn't, but he was stillborn, right? Born dead, and Nyx revived him, which further indicates that he does not belong outside of Hades as he is dead but not at the same time. The ties to the river Styx and its color is also interesting, since he's unique among gods apparently that bleeds red and all that.||

Anyway, just speculation on my part, but it's what makes sense to me

Thanatos also has dialogue that mentions how he doesn't do well on the surface either and how his job is doable in large part thanks to his insane teleportation distance. Nyx has never entered into Olympus and the mortal realm, just chaos and the underworld. Hypnos is probably stuck too, seeing as his mother is. And also Charon is stuck. All cthonic gods seem to be stuck in their realms

I just got to the conversation when Zag and Nyx discuss if they should change how they address each other now Zag knows he isn’t her bio-child. I’m the bio-parent of two children. I don’t intend on having any more bio-kids, but my partner and I are hoping to adopt a third some time in the future. Seeing non-biological parents and children have an honest conversation about their relationship was a very nice surprise in a game already full of excellent representation. Zag and Nyx are turning out to be one of my favorite relationships in the game.

He can actually survive on the surface for a pretty good but nondescript amount of time from when he sees the sunrise in the coastal cliffs to when he finally makes it to Persephone's garden in full daylight. Like, it's unlikely that Persephone was living her life of exile so close to the temple of Styx, she was probably very far up, closer to the source.||

Yeah when someone clearly has more stuff to do but stops letting you give them nectar/ambrosia then you need to figure out if you need to progress somebody else or sometimes do something unique out on your escape runs or buy something, etc.

Usually there's hints in their dialogue or codex entry, etc.

But achilles has told me to tell pat something but nothing happened

So both Achilles and Patroclus have no more Nectar prompts, and Achilles told you something for Patroclus, but did Patroclus already tell you to tell Achilles something? If not, do another run where you find Pat and then see if Achilles has more dialogue. If you already told Achilles what Pat said, you will probably have to work on either Sisyphus or Orpheus+Eurydice and Nyx some more. Or sometimes just do another run until Achilles feels like talking again if that's already taken care of too.

It's a long one for those two but worth it.

The order I did was Orpheus> Achilles> Sisyphus but I know you can do Sisyphus first, you just need to get Achilles to comment on either of them.

He didn't comment until I had the option to buy Orpheus' pact.
