In the codex, it says that by using darkness you are more difficult to remove from the underworld. So, therefore if you use the mirror you are more likely to fail. It hurts my brain thinking about it because you need the mirror to improve your self so you can try to leave.

I find Stifling my least favorite simply by design, and that I don't think it's worth taking. I don't like modifiers that restrict options I spent time unlocking. I just don't find it fun to use. I'd rather play the game with maxxed Grim Inevitability because I find that it creates an interesting run dynamic, Stifling is just... Restrictive, and I don't enjoy that.
Still struggling at 60 heat, I really need to stop running Whipped Frenzy, it just leads to me getting mailed every time I attempt Theseus
I don't think it's necessarily bad, but it's definitely not for me. That being said, I'd love to see it be a "percentage of your darkness gathered" instead of flat rates, I think it's usage and popularity as a tactic would increase a lot, especially for players who want to use the upgrades they've been grinding for and play higher heat runs.

stifling darkness is by a long shot better choice than frenzy, in the end, it comes down to those two.
You dont really need those boons- you can still get epic, legendary and heroic with gods keepsake, especially in heat rooms- tbh, when going for 60 heat statue, select 75, so you can get heat rooms in Elysium, which are crucial
Those 15extra heat are worth the 1 or 2 pact rooms you will get in elysium, since they contain 1st floor enemies, you have 0 chance of loosing any health and 100% chance to gain a poppin' upgrade
i usually just got 1-3boons 1for main attack ability( either attack or special), one for dash effect to maximise dps, one for rage effect, then rest just pom of power and coin rooms to buy death defiances etc

The Asphodel Duo in Tartarus, the Boat Fight and the Dynamic Duo in Asphodel, Asterius and the Soul Catcher
if you go through all of these five fights in a given run + a few well stacked challenge rooms, you are bound to get some good epics in aside from those that are still randomly sprinkled in

If you’re having trouble learning how to not take damage, I’d actually recommend doing a few pierced butterfly runs; since you get rewarded for playing optimally it encourages the player to be more patient and considerate when planning their moves. That’s just me though haha
