I used a zeus attack build the other day, that also got artemis' arrow on hit, attack speeds up, multiple attack ups, the distance hammer, and the armor demolisher hammer
it was glorious

on top of that all, I somehow got amazing RNG and also had an artemis cast build as backup

@final warren it seems like a couple of seconds going by and/or doing multiple dashes is what cancels the combo. If you only do one dash then as long as you do the attack quickly enough it'll do the next combo hit rather than a dash attack
Not only that, but at least on Excalibur, you can start your special, dash and then the special will come out after the dash
