Using your experience on high heat is not really the right way to go at it, as it's something few players go for and the rail special is perfectly good on no or low heat. It's similar to Nova but slower to compensate for the fact you don't need to go melee to use it and it doesn't stop you after you do. Personally, I prefer it to the blade's Nova for those reasons.
I play on 90-160 and don't mind the rail special at all, may just be because you're on controller though

With a controller, I kind of trust the auto-aim for rail special.
But yeah, I don't use it much.
The rail is already hard to use since it lack damage and stunlock.
It's certainly more boon dependent than bow
Strangely, auto-aim is better for dio cast 
Wish it were a move while firing sort of weapon, it's a shame they couldn't figure out the animation for that

Zagreus, but with a Grimoire
Special lays down a magic trap that triggers upon enemies stepping inside it. The trap can be placed instantly, but takes a moment to charge up before it can be proc'd. The traps explosion radius is larger than its explosion radius.
Attack that instantly hits the target in front of you, up to a medium-high range. Successive attacks deal a small amount of damage. The longer you wait between attacks, the more damage your next attack does.
Holding attack will charge your attack, keeping you stationary, to reach 'max damage' even sooner. After a moment of staying at max damage while charging, enters a 'fully charged' stance. Releasing your attack from full charge will hit the target in front of you, and leash it directly in front of you. The leash effect does not work on bosses, but can work on things like barrels. This leash effect has hitstun for the duration of the leash.
Your dash attack is your regular attack, but with hitstun.
To indicate how 'charged' your attack is, more and more particle effects flutter around your character.
To indicate that your trap has been placed down, your book glows a distinct color.
Grimoire's may not have much backing in Greek myth, but they are really cool. With summoning being the key terminology, the attacks could appear like wispy claws that tear through the air, and the sigil could elicit that of a beast in its inscription. The charged attack literally being a hand that tugs at an enemy back towards the book.

Athena/Artemis/Poseidon/Aphrodite on the other hand all scale with Chaos buffs, hammer, and Artemis dash attack

Ares' curses weren't proccing my 'crit from all sources' the other day, so RIP synergy of Ares with Artemis.
That's the main issue with flat damage. Great in Tartarus, bad in Asphodel.
Enough poms and I had it doing 120+ damage....
but that's not the same as 120+ damage with 10% to crit ; . ; for 200% damage + additional to armor.
I was so happy with the build before I realized.... it wasn't working.
Still, Ares offers incredibly efficient poke.
His cast and wrath are great, no question

Yeah, curses are great early in a run, let's say you use rail, just shoot one bullet in an enemy and go to the next one because the one you just shot will die in two seconds. In Asphodel, though? That's crappy damage.

Artemis seems like a pretty good god for rail special. The goddess of hunt and mortar fire.
Thing is, no heat is what the majority of players use, so that's what the weapons should be balanced around. After that, it's a matter of balancing the optional challenge mode around the existing stuff.
Sadly, Artemis special boon is going through some major bugs right now vis a vis damage consistency (for more context search mentions of LaChouette, I @'d them in the convo)
I'd say we actually lack newbies on this server now.
Shield is just garbage in general atm, pretty confident it'll be buffed though
Most players have at least beat the Hydra once, and a lot can reliably win on no heat with any build. But while we're the most present on the server, we're a minority in the playerbase.
And yeah, I suppose discord servers always do end up as the people who care most about the games

That's fair, it's just that the base weapon is undertuned and not every run will you find a hammer. It's rare to not find one, of course, but does happen

so i had to get better anyway
with these games there's allways a hardcore+softcore audience
people that play for fun
and people that play for challengeing stuff
so you always get conflicting ideas and such
be glad the game didnt lock story stuff behind 120 heat

Veil is fun, imo, at low to medium heat. Forces you to use a build that's likely to be suboptimal.
Which is why it's still fun.

Veil at high heat would not be a thing I'd try, as having a suboptimal build would probably not be fun.
Yeah, my main issue with veil is that it just has no place being a requirement to reach max heat, at that point it's just annoying resets

My 120 run just ended with one ranged boon, max poms, and staying the farthest possible and hoping to not get hit.
Took me 3 hecking hours getting 160 heat done since deflect attack never wanted to spawn

Make two pacts. Pact of Punishment by Hades with the number buffs and debuffs, and Pact of Lolz by Hypnos, with Veil and other weird random stuff.

guys i always like to get artemis attack boon
but never got like 3 runs in a row when i was specifically aiming for it
so i thought it was a bug and reported it

RNG happens, sometimes it's kind and other times you'll go multiple runs without an attack buff

By having, say, 10% on any damage, and then another 10% on cast, with all those little projectiles from legendary, as well as a multi projectile cast, as well as crit+% for wrath.... by my calculations.... your fps would cry

Poseidon wrath is unwieldy but so fun.
Poseidon wrath is pretty great for the invincibility, if you use it as an escape tool you'll likely find it very useful

those were added in the murder death kill update! basically, if you have boons from two gods, you can get a 'duo' boon that combines the two

I just got athena special with shield along with the duo athena-artemis skill that guarantees crits after deflecting AND got the rapid-fire shield upgrade. Along with the Athena Wrath invulnerability form. Completely busted.
Perfect defense+120 damage crits on every rapid-fire hit
was a little slow so I didn't beat my best time so far, but came close
I struggle a lot with the Rail at higher heat levels. The enemies are so beefy and there are so many, and the rail is just 10-12 damage single shots. even with lightning attacks, the bullets are just not effective against the masses. Anyone having success with the rail at 75+ heat? Suggestions?

I think it was a bug with the Chaos update which was corriged soon after.
If the hydra is 26, and you die immediately after, then technically 27 is correct. The Hydra can be pushed back to 27 if you enter a Chaos (or heat) gate in room 24, making Chaos (or Erebus) 25, and exiting into the pre-boss room at 26, Hydra 27, and "after" 28. I have no idea how I got 29.
Did you do the same thing before the Fury fight?

Even if I did, Hydra is coded to be encounter 26, regardless of how many rooms you actually entered in Asphodel (I once got into 4 Chaos rooms in Asphodel and Hydra was still 26)
I had a bugged run the other day where hydra was pushed back one room for no discernible reason
No chaos or infernal gates had spawned in asphodel and the fury hadn't been pushed back, the game just decided to schedule hydra back a room

Fastest clear for me is 10 minutes and 12 seconds with world splitter. Fastest clear with adamant rail was 10 minutes and 57 seconds with shotgun spread.
I'm sure I could have achieved faster if I'd reset the seed and pushed for faster optimization, but where's the fun in that?

I've got the 'flurry fire' hammer upgrade (+6 ammo, faster fire, more accurate) for the rail - can you always reload it on the run seamlessly (no standing still) or is that specific to this upgrade? I rarely use it.
That's a change to rail overall, I believe. It might still lock you in place if you reload while standing still, if I recall correctly.
yeah i noticed that as well, you're still stuck for a short bit if you begin the reload while not moving.
also level 6 epic blade rift is sweet but i was really hoping ares would give me something more to go with it than just area size lol

Thanks, with that, and pressing Esc as you land or enter a room, it will be a lot less breath holding and heart racing to get a good time ๐
Had anyone tried using Thanatos's keepsake in Tartarus and switching to a new one in Asphodel? I'm wondering if you keep the buff after switching.

yeah i feel like that keepsake will only be good when there are more floors
I mean you get to keep the benefits of the God keepsakes in the form of Boons, and the others aren't dependent on already clearing floors with it to gain a benefit so it feels a bit odd.
It would be nice if they'd change it to keep the buff for now though, third floor doesn't exist yet so skull earring is almost always better
When you unequip the spiked collar you lose the 60 health.
True, but spiked doesn't have a buildup that you have to earn
Butterfly is rather unique in that sense, it'd be nice if you got to keep it in exchange for starting with something other than a boon trinket

I'm doing the run thinking "just doesn't mater what happens just kill the mobs and get to the door and power through". I get to a fountain room, and say "health? bah who needs health?". Pick up the center item and dash strait for the doors. Turn's out you do need health...just to get the door open. Wasted a good 20 seconds figuring that one out.

I also go full dmg, and i would suggest it for people even if they consider they need to improve, as ennemies will still be weak in the first part of the run, and you get some fre mileage.
Also this forces you to learn to dodge things.

what am i supposed to get with the hammer ? 20% less damage ? bull rush 200% damage or 6 foes strike special ? It's my first room item and i'm in 50 heat all invest in damage
Depends on your keepsake and one the gods you want. Zeus or Dionysus work pretty well on the special upgrade but would be complete crap on the bullrush, but that doesn't mean bullrush is not a good one to take if you get a build for it. Issue with the 6 foes strike is that the shield might take longer to come back though.

20% less damage is probably not gonna do much for you though, it's better to kill enemies twice as fast than take 20% less damage.

Then I'd go for shield special. Zeus is pretty good on it, and Poseidon is nothing to scoff at either.

Would have been if my build had been better, but i ended up with a bad cast build and was only dealing about 600 damage with Artemis's cast

Athena, Aphrodite, and Poseidon all have the same mechanic on each of their tier 1 boons (Deflect, Weak, and Knockback respectively). Zeus splits between chain and bolt lightning, Ares has both curse and rifts, Artemis gives crit on some boons and flat damage on others, and Dionysus's cast makes Festive Fog (all his other boons stack Blight Wine). This isn't a criticism, just an interesting observation I've made.
athena and poseidon also have, unless they've tweaked the numbers and i haven't noticed yet, the highest damage % on their basic boons
speaking of athena, her wiki page is updated for the mdk update now
i didn't notice until i double-checked but it looks like "vast riches" is no longer a boon option from her
I think Poseidon has the higher numbers on special (I know Athena has 70% now and I remember Poseidon giving 80%)
Rare should be around 105, since her epic is 140

You currently need 172,305 Darkness to max out the Mirror. 165,000 of it is for the room rerolls.

Yeah, even a moderate chaos boon and low ocean's bounty can get you there on 120+, by 180 even low + low would work

But yeah, you get more darkness for a Fury fight than in a normal room already. Add to that Dark Thirst if you pick the right weapon (+10%) and Heat (+2% per point invested) and you can go rather high. If you get a Chaos boon (+20 to +80% if the wiki is up to date on that, which I doubt since I know I got better than that) and Ocean's Bounty which can sometimes lead to +200% with a few poms on an epic version, you'll get so much darkness nobody would believe you without a screenshot ๐
Chaos is now something like 100-250

I'm not sure if chaos and poseidon are multiplicative with each other though
I'm gonna try some no Heat runs with Poseidon keepsake, just to see how high I can get on darkness without the heat bonus. Will let me focus on building that instead of needing to build my damage and all. Will also let me take stuff like low speed or damage on attack without worrying much.
Plus, I'm not done with leveling his keepsake, so that will be a good occasion to do so.

The probability of getting any given exact ordering of hammer upgrades is 1/9 * 1/8 * 1/7 (your 1/504). The probability of getting that twice is roughly 1/254,013
Well yep, but the particular set itself wasn't anything special so the odds of any given repeat are just the 1/504

What do you guys think about a Duo boon between Ares and Athena that makes Blade Rifts deflect?
That will be awesome but probably way too strong
My framerate dies as is
Considering how long blade rift sticks around, and that you can increase the size

Trying to think about how more duo boons can create synergy
So, had a run where I was trying to get as many Darkness boosts as possible, which didn't happen because:
- I only got Ocean's Bounty on my fifth Poseidon boon (sixth boon total)
- I never got a Chaos darkness boost in three gates
- I ended up being unable to use both attack and dash, with rail, against the Megagorgon... skullcrusher killed me
Hmm...it's not as exciting, but for Ares+Athena duo boon maybe something like "enemies hit by deflected projectiles get cursed (i.e. take extra damage)"?
But that's kinda limited, maybe melee attackers that get deflected will get cursed too
That would actually be pretty insane.
Imagine deflecting the big projectile attack from Hydra.
I fear that duo boons proccing curse would need to have a static curse damage value, and I'd rather the curse comes from pre-existing damage.
With a curse of 80, that's maybe 1500 damage.

Curses don't stack, so it wouldn't be 1500

The one i got was an Athena - Artemis combo where whenever I deflected every damage i dealt was a guaranteed crit for 3 seconds (that got upgraded to 5 seconds after a pomegranate)
I think there is a boon that lets curses stack
Not in the way you're thinking; it adds a flat damage per extra "stack" (5, at base)
So nowhere near 1500 regardless

artemis and dyonisus boons are what i aim for when doing spear runs @tiny pollen
lots of crits (crits on dash attack boon is a godsend (hah) ) and you can stack blight wine easilly with the high attack speed
Most boons that add some sort of damage (Zeus, Dionysus, Ares) work pretty well with attack or even special

The main problem with the ares boon to the base attacks are that it takes a while to proc the extra damage
I think it's more suited to slower attack speed weapons personally. The passive buff to all damage dealt is dope tho

Huh, that is odd... if it were all multiplicative it'd be 143, so instead dark thirst and chaos must be additive with each other but multiplicative with poseidon
since 20x2x3.35=134
which means dark thirst isn't very impactful in the super high darkness sort of run, only added 4 darkness there for you
Yep. So shouldn't care about that. Still, getting that many bonuses took me 5 tries and even then I only got Poseidon in room 21, so it didn't get really useful.

If you were for some reason on 180 heat and still able to get those through veil, that would be a 616 darkness pickup lol

Issue with adding new distinct phases is that it works in a RPG where you'll only have to beat that boss once. In a rogue-like, you can't do that because once you know what the phases are, there's no more challenge with your unpreparedness.
Even now, with all the heads, it's still possible to dodge everything (balancing issues like getting 6 wave heads at the same time excluded) even with the quantity you get, but it keeps you on your toes.

Even RNG elements can be quantified and predicted, but that on-the-fly adaption is a nice feeling.

They have a tell for their bite move, and most weapons have enough range that you can attack from out of their bite range (even the blade).
I think Bubl's feedback is more to do with the chaotic nature of juggling too much information in the fight. I remember not understanding that Hydra heads are doing damage after hissing until I was able to process it amongst the chaos, and that was far from my first time fighting the boss.
6 wavers, or even 6 lava spitters or spawners will all be just, extremely chaotic
That's why you start with fewer heads. Lets you discover things.

6 slammers aren't really manageable when they all decide to act at the same time and the main head does too

the most heads that are summoned at once are 4 slammer heads in the final phase, accompanied by 2 spitter heads
I like the lava spitting heads the most, honestly. Easiest to dodge, easiest to take out.

Once you get to know the various heads, you know which ones to prioritize, you know their tells and a literal no hit challenge becomes actually possible (although hard)

for me, i priortize wavers (yellow) > spawners (green) > spitters (pink) > slammers (normal)
There's a skill curve, a knowledge curve, a resource curve to think about. It's difficult, and unfairly so (if your resource curve isn't high enough (dependent for players of various skill curve)).
It also doesn't help that I dig the Railgun but haven't used it much, so I have to relearn from the shield to a gun
Also, when you said "4 slammers and 2 spitters", sparrow, do you mean it's not actually random and there's just a ton of different sets it can throw at you?

I beat the Hydra for the first time at my 23rd run and I'm pretty sure I'm among the better half. Feels like most people take around 40, from what I've read. I've even seen someone who needed over 100 runs to beat the Hydra.
So yeah, you're doing good and you still got time before even being considered average at the game. Getting at the Hydra several times at that point? That's being good.
Every time I get to Hydra I get its health down to like 1/4th and then it gets nutso and I die. I also need to do the FPS improvements stuff, that'll definitely help me out

If you've already got the Hearts, no boon will do a specific thing, I believe. If you don't have them yet, there is one Poseidon boon that will make the Hearts stronger.
Already having the hearts makes the extra death defy from athena more impactful
As for keepsakes, maybe Dusa's or Charon's to get more heals?

If you have 100 health, you need to lose 60. If you have 200 health, you need to lose 120. Not really sooner.
Would only mean that you're safer than usual when it activates.

Damage scaling with health would probably be too good though. Getting more health gets you safer, if it also increased your ability to kill, it would probably be the best thing in the game.

currently the worst part of the hydra are the green spawners cause if i was unlucky and didn't get a high damage aoe (like poseidon cast) that run, the enemies flood the screen and make the game lag. however that is literally just a problem with playing on a low-end laptop and nothing sgg has done

I really like Death Insurance, as it doesn't matter much, especially with the Rail.
Reducing your healing a bit and adding a tiny bit of health to enemies doesn't matter much either. Making prices higher is not usually an issue either.
I usually am off by 10 or 20 when buying stuff so I'm not certain about that one. I don't think i'm going to main the rail so insurance might be a problem for me. Was thinking about increasing enemy damage to try to force myself to git gud but with enemy numbers already increased...
Even with other weapons, it's usually fine, but it's especially ridiculous on Rail.
Also, at low Heat, you don't really need the shops. I usually don't spend any money during my run (except in wells sometimes) and just empty the last shop. Having pricier items just means I can usually buy one item there at most.
has anyone else had issues with aphrodite's wrath boon causing enemies to move very erratically? i dont know if here or #hades-feedback would be the correct place to mention it but in situations where all enemies are charmed/theres no enemies left for charmed ones to fight, they tend to skitter in strange directions or even jump across the map

Hey @woeful stirrup , what did you use for your Hydra fight?
It's been a while and I don't have a screenshot for it, but I believe I had the Bow and Artemis' keepsake. However, my build was an Artemis cast build, so I didn't actually use my weapon. It's been a bit nerfed since then (I literally dealt 400 damage per cast) but it's still very good.
I have since beaten the Hydra with pretty much every weapons and a lot of different builds, though, and I do know that some people seem to really hate the bow, so go at it with your own playstyle, you can beat the Hydra with pretty much any build.
I do hate the bow, but apparently the Spear is my bb since I just beat Hydra again, even though I rarely used the Spear before these two runs ๐ค

And yeah, I... don't take exploding spear. For a while I took it with Dio? But it just wasn't... really... worth the AOE chance, since it effectively halves the amount of stacks you're putting on the target you're focusing on without the recall.
Backstab is nice, but not the only good points of the spear special. Exploding launcher is pretty nice to clear groups of enemies. Also, when you're going for high heat, you probably don't have much backstab damage anyway.
What I DO like about exploding spear is the Attack + Special + Attack + Special endless GOULASH (wow I knew I got that word wrong, but yikes)

the bonus isn't that big to just disable backstab, and you still need to position properly to backstab without recall

All but whipped for 160, all but whipped + veil at 145. Athena trinket to start for deflect attack, with the goal of finding athena wrath and some form of dash attack (artemis or chaos) partway through the run
Are you finding that your deflect attacks are reliable enough? Like one mistake can cost you 50-60 life. How do you preform your deflects?
My experience is that you just get better at the timing as you play with it more. High risks incentivize better performance. Also, and I am being 100% serious about this, take Titan Toppler (Athena's dash). It is the best deflect in the game, and, all things considered, deals a respectable amount of damage.
Yeah, dash deflect would be really good for getting out of sticky situations with a 360 deflect. I would need to learn the slow a little bit I'm sure. I'll try that next time.
It is also, to my knowledge, one of three things that can deflect ground attacks such as Fury Circles (Athena's Wrath and Vengeance can too)

Sorry for the very late reply @elder mountain, the deflect attacks are certainly less reliable against most things after the massive nerfs to projectile hit ranges but the main thing you want it for is wave skellies/hydra heads

I don't know if people already know this, but I've found something pretty interesting with rerolling. When rerolling the rewards on boon rooms, if the room is a boon with a skull it will reroll into another boon. The new boon is not randomly selected from the remaining boons. There is a small list of like 3 or 4 boons that it can choose from after rerolling the first boon. The first list is something like: Zeus, Dio, Athena and Poseidon, rerolling any of these will give a boon from this list. The second list is: Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite.
So logically I thought (haven't tried it yet), that maybe in a run if you are only using one god and you use the keepsake for that god at the start. After beating the furies, you can swap out the keepsake for another keepsake that is in that same list as the previous god and reroll that boon into the boon you want.
After I found this, it was really cool because when I was trying to find Artemis, if I'd found either Ares or Aphro, I 100% knew I could reroll into Artemis.

Don't the keepsakes work again in Asphodel, though? No need to swap. At the very least, I got a Poseidon boon first in Asphodel everytime I was trying to get that sweet Ocean's Bounty.
To my knowledge, they do not work that way. When you equip a god's keepsake for the first time is when the ability activates and the next boon you encounter will be that god. When going into Asphodel, and you keep the trinket equipped, you're not re-equipping it, so the ability doesn't get activated again. However the 20% bonus to rare boons will still be active because that's permanent as long as the trinket is equipped.
What other Duo boons are there? I just got the lighting fog thing as well, super fun

First time using Deadly Reversal. Soooo good! Key words "Damage you deal". As in, all damage you deal. Deflect an attack with special, and hit Barbs = 300 damage for the special, whatever damage I just deflected, and 50x10 + distance damage from the barbs. Stuff was exploding!

Yeah, deadly reversal is way too good, when compared to the strength of other duo boons out there. Doubling your damage output with guaranteed crit (which can gain synergy from multiple Artemis boons) is far too powerful. I'd be happy if the duo boon gave me a smaller global crit chance, like 40%.
All you really need to take advantage of the duo boon is:
Artemis Keepsake at beginning of run, and literally any weapon
+Artemis on special, for duo boon requirement
Athena Keepsake at the halfway mark
+Athena reflect on attack, for duo boon requirement
Along the way, you grab:
Artemis dash for bonus attack %
Artemis crit multiplier
Artemis crit multiplier on armor
And then wham, hydra heads dying in two clicks with shotgun upgrade on rail, if you've found duo boon by that time.
The trick is to take athena's reflect on the main source of damage you're using, as artemis' crit% is thrown out the window as soon as you get the duo boon.
Again, with the amount of projectiles in Asphodel and beyond, the duo boon is almost constantly churning out perma-crits from all damage sources. It's weird to have a duo boon completely replace artemis' other crit chance boons, instead of bolstering those values up to 100%.
Agreed, reversal definitely needs some reworking. It does seem like guaranteed crits tend to skew towards being too powerful every time they're in the game (old Artemis dash for example). Your post would probably be good to post in #hades-feedback too

it limits how much darkness you can use in the mirror
at the first rank it limits you to 2750 darkness, and it lowers by another 250 for every rank after that until it caps out at 10 ranks and a 500 darkness limit

the pact is designed to make the game harder, putting a hard limit on how much darkness you can use is one way of doing that

If you're at that awkward stage where you have a long way to go (Darkness-wise) in the Mirror but are good enough to use the Pact, it does provide a decent Darkness % bonus for your runs which will help you max your mirror out faster if that's a thing you want
You get a 2% Darkness bonus for every 1 Heat applied
so i just arrived here, hopefully this is the right place to put feedback on gameplay, i just completed the bone hydra for the second time, i love the game and the never obvious combination of boons you get, its really fun, my only complain is that the only way i seem to defeat bosses is abusing the dash attacks, its all too confusing and crazy on the battleflied to rely on instincts like in games such as monster hunter where your reflexes actually play a role, instead the only thing i seem to be able to do is to abuse dash attacks, so all investiment on other attacks end up becomming secondary and uselss in boss fights, at least for me, which kills a bit the fun. but awesoeme game overall

Regarding your post about Stifling Darkness @quiet ledge , it's not a permanent cap on your Darkness use. You can turn it off at any time, and you don't even have to use Stifling Darkness in order to use the Pact
I understand, but it makes it kinda dumber still. Like darkness feels to me like a permanent upgrade, I feel like heat is a permanent increase of difficulty. Minmaxing things by turning stuff on and off feels wrong to me

How does Hades influence Nyx' mirror? How does Hades choose what the Olympians send to Zagreus?
I am okay with Hades throwing more stuff at Zagreus, it makes sense from the gameworld perspective (he can control the underworld, but can't control Zagreus), and it makes sense from the game design perspective (the character grows stronger and the environment does too)
This game is about the progression between runs. You hoard heat and you hoard darkness. The character should progress and only grow stronger as time goes on
And he does, unless you opt in to the system to increase difficulty. No one is requiring you to do it

There for sure will be actual incentives to do heat runs in the future

In Isaac you can't unlock all items in the game without doing almost everything there is to the game
In Dead Cells the true final boss is locked behind the highest difficulty (since a few weeks ago)
If Hades will not offer sufficient rewards (new enemies, new boons, new weapons, story secrets etc) for doing post game content such as heat, it will be a good game, but a not good roguelike, in my opinion. There's no incentive for me personally to play after beating the final boss once, and that would be a bad thing
None of their games have made their challenge mechanics mandatory for completion

All their other games were linear. This is different. For having put out such a solid roguelike at least so far, I will be disappointed if they will not hit the same quality mark in post game content
Eh, depends on the player. Some people need a carrot on a stick, some people just want an Everest.
Not to mention while I consider myself reasonably capable at the game I still haven't even gotten a 60 heat clear lol - the more you hide behind heat the fewer people that will be able to appreciate it.

I can see the argument for ambrosia and keys, but honestly once you get reroll you'll have enough of each. As for extra heat, the hydra already gives so much there wouldnt be much of a point to buffing that either
If you get boon from Chaos with "x%" of more enemies spawning , itยดs normal that in skull rooms you got more than 2 enemies. (if there suppose to be just 2)?
Yeah, thats normal. sometimes enemies are upgraded to elites as well
or completeely changed
if you have that boon and fight megagorgon sometimes it replaces the crusher with another megagorgon

i mean, i'd say it got harder
but now that i use it is extremly easy
it's tehnically harder
but when it comes to the new bosses i kill them in seconds
only Tis takes more cuz of her "phases"
I'd say the game got harder too with the last update, with the introduction of the wave projectiles. Maybe you just got better ๐
Yeah I find myself using dash a lot more after the upgrade. It gets difficult with more enemies like on murderboat, or during hydra though

Athena is a godsend for wave projectiles. They're huge so deflect works great against them if you find yourself in a spot where you cant dodge

Had a game with Coronacht where I had Brilliant Riposte, Relentless Barrage, Clean Kill, Addled Flourish and that duo boon
The Medusa died in less than a second after I deflected once

Higher stats on enemies, higher damage taken, or other forms of increased difficulty beyond what the heat effects are.

The only thing not explicitly listed is that Whipped Frenzy increases not just movement speed, but attack speed as well (the two are linked)
Does number of hearts you have with each god/character actually have any impact?
You unlock new lore/dialog with the characters and also get to see some NPC-NPC interactions
Plus you get ||Orpheus to sing||
But nothing like increasing the boons from the Olympians? So not as big of a grind priority

I will fully go through it all, I love the story that SGG does. But more there is no indication if there is more gameplay value than the trinket. So maybe it is worth it to get more ambrosia instead of darkness

I think, you'll find, there are enough situations where you'll opt into ambrosia at your own leisure. Darkness, keys, and ambrosia all have their own use, but sometimes you'll be picking up ambrosia because it's your only real option. The game's design seems focused on allowing players to focus on the content that they're there for, instead of locking that content behind other elements of the game (to some extent).
Greg recently said something to that effect, how they don't want to force their players to interact with the narrative if they don't want to, while at the same time leaving it open for when they do
Oh yeah, its a great way. I know I will eventually have all the ambrosia I need from grinding heat runs. Its a good system. I do still heavily prioritize darkness, but eventually that too will be maxed
It's totally nature to favor darkness. I did as well. But ambrosia's never felt like a waste when they did pop up. Even now, with my ability to trade resources around, I'm satisfied with any of the resources I find along the way.
I'd say darkness is more of a grind than heat, actually.

Gosh, that's a neat attitude to be taking. So refreshing, in the day and age where content I want to experience can so often be locked behind barriers I don't really feel like dealing with.
SG is my favourite dev team for a reason 
I get the counter to that as well, from a game designer stand point of like, trying to make the player experience as much flavors their game can offer, and to push them 'out of their comfort zone'. But man, that take is so less... refreshing.
The way that SG really makes it work is that I think they inevitably convince you effortlessly over the course of gameplay to want to interact with the optional parts of the story

No, I totally get you. The game should be the comfort itself. You should want to explore it all, see it all. There shouldn't be any forcing to begin with.
@oak steeple I agree that the fries are a bit off, but the "sandwich" is a gyro โ a relatively modern Greek food, based on a slightly older Turkish dish (doner kebab). Even fries, though, are a common accompaniment to it. Not sure what would be a better item to use, if not that
Besides the container in which the fries are drawn, they are good.

For my money the off part is the Gyro meat y'know? It is that kind of Greek-American gyro meat, which is a mixture of ground beef and lamb.

@forest marsh I don't think I have a problem with the chosen food being the gyro, more so with the manner it is displayed (very modernised with the traditional fast food style). Especially the packaging as @copper berry mentioned

Modernising the dialogue is fine, the worst thing would be reading something full of "thou" and what have you. But I would find it off-putting if Ares had an ipad or Charon used an cellphone (as funny as it would be)

I keep on getting offered it as an epic and it feels kinda disappointing
It requires a change in gameplay, but it can be quite good
I rarely ever take it, personally

You really have to use it deliberately though, it isn't suited to the panic-dash that some others are
I really like Hunter's Dash, especially with the bow
Lots of watching attack animations and timing the dash to intercept them
Hunter Dash is life if you're running bow
Hunters Dash is insane on three things, from least insane to most insane:
-The majority of bow.
-Sword's dash attack hitting twice and giving 15% crit chance.
-Gun, but only the shotgun move.
It is also pretty good on shield attack builds, especially with bull rush. But other dash boons can be considered much better for bull rush shield builds.
Honestly, I think Athenas dash is alright
I dont use it because its slow and I like to be the fast
But its still good
TFW you take a chaos boon forgetting that you're about to head into a fury fight x.x
It's really really good, in terms of damage mitigation. Amazing when you don't have all your dashes yet especially when fighting Meg. It's definitely not my playstyle either.

Had to do a Meg fight the other day with just bow special 'cause I had a Chaos curse on my Attack 
It wasn't actually that bad, just took a bit of time
